Why settle for bland when you're putting a new car receiver in your ride? Pioneer's DEH-3600UI CD receiver stretches the color spectrum with a multi-color, dual-zone display that lets you choose from thousands of colors — you can even set up one color for the display and another for the buttons. For some extra visual excitement, MIXTRAX syncs the audio from many of your sources, adding transitions between songs along with a light show that pulses and changes color with the beat of the music.
You can set the colors for the buttons and display independently.
The front-panel USB input allows you to connect your iPod® or iPhone®, then access your playlists with the Pioneer's controls. When your iPhone's connected, you'll also enjoy control over your favorite Pandora® stations from the receiver. You can use the USB input to tap into the music stored on many Android devices, while the front aux input handles just about any other audio source. If you're into your CD collection, you'll enjoy excellent playback of your store-bought and home-burned discs.
Pioneer's potent MOSFET amplifier delivers plenty of power, while the 5-band EQ lets you tweak the sound as much as you want. Two pairs of preamp outputs make it easier to add external amplifiers or a powered sub.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Love it and got it for a great deal very fast shipping what more can you ask for tell me
Pros: Great deal fast shipping
Cons: Can't thank of any
This is the second one of these I have bought. Works and sounds great. Can't beat the value at this price
Pros: very user friendly. love the usb on the front panel.
This is a good unit it is more tech then I am smart. But I think I got it now. I don't like that I cant dim the display more but that all
Pros: pioneer has and is by far the best you can get if you drive one ton or bigger trucks for antiskip cd
Cons: display too bright at night
Crutchfield is great because they just automatically send you everything you need to get the job done yourself. We had this installed in a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado in less than an hour. Even with the crap factory speakers in, it still plays much much better than the factory head unit. Speakers might be next.
Pros: Ease of installation. Sounds great. Pioneer still makes great stuff and with Crutchfield fixing you up with the right installation kit and the greatest instructions ever...It is awesome.
Cons: Might be a little hard to get adjusted. Might just be that I am getting older and have been out of the car stereo scene for a while. Has a lot of tone control. I can get great sound out of it, Just takes some getting used to. Not the radio's fault. I just need to get back up to speed.
This was my first ever head-unit I brought, I've been driving with a dead one for about 2 years, it was fixed before and it is Bose so I decided to scrap them all and install this. Much better to use, though I never actually used the one it replaced, but I'll take a nice flashy display over a ugly factory one that's older than me. I have it paired with Pioneer 6x9's and 6.5's and it sounds great, the factory default setting has it on the "Powerful" EQ and while I typically would never in a million years use a EQ, I will in car audio because it makes is sound so much better. All that redirected sound sounds pretty good.
Pros: Quality, easy to use, nice remote control, color choices
Cons: Lowest brightness level still too bright at night.
First, I am a pioneer person, so this is probably a jaded review. That said, I love this thing!! I have a truck with a whipped out old stock system that i just wanted to freshen up, and make iPod compatible. I bought this stereo and a set of replacement speakers and was blown away by the sound especially when I consider the extremely low cost. Its louder and sounds a lot better, clearer. The features for my iPod go WAY beyond simple compatibility, and I'm still figuring them all out a couple weeks later. Simple installation. And the customizable colored lighting on the face is just too great. Cheap too, thats always a plus...
Pros: Great price. Tons of great iPod features. Customizable lit face, its cooler than it sounds :)
Cons: None discovered yet.
I wanted to replace my factory head unit for a little better sound on long drives. This unit does not disappoint. Both the installation and setup were simple and very quick, sounds great with aftermarket speakers (I haven't tried it with factory speakers), and there are several options to fine - tune your music. Some set - up options can be a bit tedious to get to, though; it would be hard to switch between settings while driving until you're really used to the layout of buttons and where options are located in the user interface. I also really like being able to change colors on the keys and display.
Pros: Solid sound, ability to change colors of display, many set-up options
Cons: Set-up can't be changed easily (one button) while driving and can require some searching when you want to change settings.
Easy to install
I like the stereo and the attachment. Crutchfield always come's thru for easy assembly and quick installation. Theres no where else I would purchase a car stereo from.
Pros: It works right out of the box. The attachment fit well.
Cons: It is not a direct replacement for my OEM stereo so it doesn;t quite look as good.
very easy to use and great with a iphone.....colors are cool too
Pros: easy install upgraded from factory what a deal
This stereo was super easy to install into my car and looks great! My music sounds so much better in my car thanks to this stereo. The front facing USB port is perfect for iPhone use. I love the fact that it changes color and you can customize the specific shade you want. I would recommend this stereo to anyone!
Pros: Color options, USB port, high quality sound, easy to use
Good radio for the price fairly easy to use
Pros: Coolness factor is high
Cons: Set up menu a bit clustered.
Bought this for my old man's chevy 1500 pick up and replace the stock weak unit. I've always been a fan of Pioneer headsets and never had an issue with them, I believe that they carry a lot of features that are usually not found on the more pricier units and well they are cool!! One thing I have to state is not sure why the have a detachable face but no storage case?? Is that something Pioneer is discontinuing to provide for there consumers or is that just something is missing from my unit? Would have given 5 * if the storage case would have been included and also if the unit would be able to connect to PANDORA using ANDROID OS. After reading the instructions it does not show or even able to connect PANDORA using the ANDROID OS. I thought I would be able to.
Pros: Great sound, Great features, GREAT PRICE!!!
Cons: Not an IPHONE fan and don't plan to either. Wish PANDORA could work with the ANDROID OS.
This radio is much more than I expected! I love this thing! Would recommend
I bought this to replace an old Pioneer KEH-P6010 radio/cassette head unit connected to a Pioneer CDX-PD6 6-disk CD changer when the disk changer failed after about 12 years. These are in a 1991 Saab 900 convertible, which has two separate single-DIN slots -- and nobody makes a single-DIN in-dash CD changer anymore (or at least they're very hard to find -- or very expensive (Pioneer XDV-P6). I replaced the old head unit with the DEH-X3600UI and replaced the changer with a "universal DIN pocket" also from Crutchfield.
Pros: Although I miss having 6 CDs of music to play before repeating, the front-panel USB connecter on the DEH-X3600UI seems as if it will soon make that feeling obsolete. It's a little messy having an iPhone or iPod connected, but as soon as I can get a small (physically) USB flash drive loaded with mp3s, I'll have a lot more tunes than could fit on 6 CDs.
Cons: As others have remarked, the "Mixtrax" button is much too bright and can't be dimmed. The rest of the display is too dim, at least in daylight with the top down. As near as I can tell, the "dimmer" button doesn't do anything visible. Using the menu system, you can set the "brightness" from level 1 to level 4 with "dimmer on" and to level 5 with "dimmer off" but adjusting brightness in this way is very dangerous while driving. Unlike the old unit, the dash light dimmer control isn't used.
The mixtrax button is too bright even with the dim setting to on.
Pros: Good sound.
Cons: No treble, mid settings.
Love the USB port in the front, I plug in my iphone into it and it automatically plays my music, quick push of source option and pandora come on. I can control it all from the remote. Great looking and great price.
Pros: USB port in front and ease of controlling functions with remote
Cons: None. Perfect for my needs and wants
Replaced a dead 14 year old cd/am-fm unit. Wanted to upgrade to do the same and include ipod/mp3. This is working nicely. Wife loves the USB port. (It really is way cool.) The options for lighting color as well as brightness is a nice touch. Sounds really good, even with the original speakers and no extra amp. You can easily add one if you want. I wanted to give it 4 1/2 stars not 4, but the scale wouldn't let me. The lack of 4 longer screws in the mounting kit dropped it from a 5. Would I reccommend this to friends? Oh, yeah! Lotta bang for the buck . Buyer as well as tech support just makes it sweeter.
Pros: Online help from Crutchfield staff was excellent as was the on the phone help twice during the install. It wasn't my first install but the written instructions, wiring harness kit and mounting kit made it awesome. Everything came apart and went back together without a hitch. And no flailing around taking things apart that I didn't need to or breaking by doing it wrong.
Cons: Mounting bracket and additional neccesary spacers needed longer screws. I dug in my stockpile and found some. No trip to the store needed. Wiring harness instructions made me question if wiring was color for color. Controls are a little sketchy to use but we're getting used to them. Buttons are a bit small and hard to hit while driving. Makes the remote nice. But, really? a friggin' remote? Oh, yeah, a case for the removable front would be nice. I had one years ago for my unit in my old truck
The Pioneer Line of DEH-X receivers is the most innovative design yet! Simple, menu-driven controls are easy to get used to, particularly if you use a smart phone - very similar. The front USB and line inputs are handy and useful. Not only will the USB play your music from your device, it will charge it, too! Very handy! The variable and changeable light display almost takes me back to the psychedelic era when a good light show was as essential as the music! Now, the kids are envious and want to use MY car when the go out!
Pros: Great light display and color spectrum.......easy to install thanks to Crutchfields' installation guides.......easy to operate and enjoy.
Cons: .......the standard in 'high power' head units seems to be 40 watts RMS. this could stand a boost to say 50 watts or so?........a rear line level input would be helpful and useful as well.
Love the sound and the tunability. Also, dig the colors!
Pros: Plenty of power, looks awesome, easy install!
Cons: None yet!
After buying the VW GTI I wanted, I only had a small budget for the stereo, the car originally came with the Monsoon system so speakers and amp were covered. I have always been impressed with Pioneers quality so choosing the DEH-X3600ui was natural. With the harness, installation was stupid easy. Setting the unit up was a little less easy but not terrible, just be patient and read the instructions twice. The choice of colors in the display and keys is a feature I grew to love, it now matches the color of my dashboard perfectly and makes the unit look more like an OEM. Sound is great, I do still have the Monsoon amp and speakers and adjustments allow for it to be tuned perfectly. I don't need big, thumping bass for my music but it's there.
Pros: Anyone can install. Matchable to any dash color themes or customizable Easily tunable for any sound Sounds more expensive.
It is a great radio head unit. Very easy to setup and use. Love the multi-color abilities. No complaints other than pressing no single press button to pause/ cut off music. You have to hold down the source button and browse back to what selection you were on. Great product, would buy again!
Pros: Multi color EQ settings Bass boost USB & Aux Cord Capable
Cons: If you have a double din dash, you'll need a single din adaption kit.
I contacted Crutchfield for the first time, via online chat - since I am unable to make lengthy calls at work. I was put in touch with ADAM who immediately provided responsive, knowledgeable and efficient service. Having little prior knowledge about the products I needed, he was most helpful - recommending items that were compatible with my daughters vehicle, and ones that would provide superior sound. The entire process was easy - he even emailed me links to the various products to make the buying process simple, also. I bought the items online in less than 5 minutes and they were shipped for free the next day. I cannot say enough about the service that Crutchfield provides, and they will be the ONLY company I will recommend, going forward. This kind of customer care has sadly become more rare, in many industries, and Crutchfield made me feel that my business was important, no matter how small the dollar value. It was all-together a great experience and one I will gladly repeat when I have new needs in this area. Thank you!
Pros: caring, professional, knowledgeable staff with efficient response times. Free fast shipping of high quality items. Great installation information.
You can never go wrong with Pioneer. Great sound.
Pros: Great value.
Excellent all around.
Pros: Easy to install.
I was looking for an inexpensive upgrade for my sons car with some features. This turned out to be a very good choice. Sounds so much better than the stock radio.
Pros: super easy to install
It such a nice radio that my husband had to get one too
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. Using Crutchfield's master sheet the install was simple and straight forward. The set up for this Pioneer was easier than my own Kenwood, I also noticed that it is very user-friendly. She has had no problems and loves it. This Pioneer would be a good choice for those individuals that aren't tech-savvy or just want a simple upgrade. This head unit sounds good and offers nice features at a bargain price. Thanks Crutchfield!
This receiver is everything I was looking for- and more. It conveniently has CD, auxiliary, and USB sources. The iPod hookup is wonderful, and I love the choice to control the tracks on my iPod with either the receive or my iPod itself. I also like being able to customize the illumination and display. It also offers a great variety of sound options. I'm very very happy with this product.
Pros: iPod and aux hookup, great customization options, and ability to control music from my iPod.
Cons: Not many, but it requires a thorough reading of the instruction manual to get a full grasp on use after installation.
Is an excellent deck
Pros: Mp3 and wma through usb is excellent
Cons: I don't like that the wires for Pioneer decks are so thin, makes me think they will burn out with all the power running through them...
I just picked it up yesterday what a great stereo easy to use great features gray colors love it.
this is an amazing radio. I was totally satisfied with this product. Has all the bells and whistles.
Pros: many colors to choose from, mixtrax, great output, has remote, great custom eq setting, sub output

The Pioneer head unit supports audio playback of stored music, podcasts, audiobooks, and music apps on your iPod or iPhone. You can choose to operate your iPod/iPhone through the head unit's front-panel controls, from its clickwheel/touchscreen, or via a streamed app from your iPhone.
iPod Compatibility Chart: The Pioneer DEH-X3600UI is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (as of 9/19/2013):
|Apple Device||Generation||Tested Version||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video||Head Unit||iPod/iPhone||App Mode||Pandora App||Artist/Song Text||Track Info|
Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.
Auxiliary Input: The DEH-X3600UI is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.
Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.
Pandora App: The free Pandora App lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-X3600UI using your connected Apple iPhone, via the Pioneer iPod connector cable (sold separately) or the connector cable that came with your iPhone. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) with the latest version of the Pandora Radio application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account. The Pioneer DEH-X3600UI will provide control over the Pandora music service and display Artist/Album/Song information.
Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.
24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.
MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X3600UI is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-X3600UI are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.
4ch/2V Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-X3600UI features two pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs. The unit's rear preamp outputs can be configured as fading rear-channel outputs or a non-fading subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level control.
Subwoofer Control: When the head unit's preamp output is configured as a subwoofer output, you can select the frequency of the low pass filter (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125 Hz), select the filter slope (-6/-12dB), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).
Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-X3600UI features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.
High-Pass Crossover: When you don't want low-frequency sound to be heard through your front or rear speakers, you can simply active the head unit's HPF (high pass filter). By activating the HPF, only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers. The high pass filter crossover can be set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160hz, 200Hz or Off. The slope level of the HPF can also be adjusted to -6dB or 12dB.
Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB device, iPod/iPhone, and portable media players. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies
Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer DEH-X3600UI CD receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.
MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.
Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone/iPad. It is also not supported by USB MTP devices.
Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X3600UI in-dash CD receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.
Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 5 preset colors (White/Red/Amber/Green/Blue), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors.
MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music. You can also choose which area's of the head unit's face illuminates; select Display, Display/Buttons, or Off.
Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.
Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On/Off within the menu.
Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X3600UI comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause the CD, change the display, and adjust the audio. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).
Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).
