Our take on the Pioneer MVH-X560BT

Welcome to the digital age

If you're done with discs and ready for an all-digital entertainment experience, Pioneer's MVH-X560BT digital media receiver (there's no CD player) lets you enjoy music from your iPhone® or iPod®, select Android™ phones, or a USB thumb drive when you're on the road. You'll also get Bluetooth® hands-free calling, Pandora® control with iPhone or Android, and App Control. The big, multi-line display makes it easy to see the artist and song info, along with your system settings. You can select separate colors for the display and the control keys, for over 200,000 possible combinations.

Who needs CDs, anyway?

You can plug your iPod and iPhone into this receiver's USB port and make music selections through the receiver. As a bonus, the receiver will also charge your device while you're playing your tunes. If you own an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, you can take advantage of Siri® Eyes Free functionality with a touch of a button, accessing a variety of functions with your voice commands.

Android users can control their music via Bluetooth or plug into the front panel USB port and play music while getting a charge. You can also plug in a thumb drive and enjoy MP3, WMA, and WAV files, or use the aux input to connect an MP3 player or portable satellite radio tuner.

Pioneer MVH-X560BT Digital Media Receiver

Pioneer's MVH-X560BT receiver features a multi-line display with over 200,000 color options.

Built-in Bluetooth™

The MVH-X560BT features built-in Bluetooth, so you can enjoy hands-free calling and wireless music streaming while you drive. You'll speak into the included external microphone and hear the other end of the conversation through your vehicle's speakers. With “Guest Mode,” you can add or replace a mobile device with ease -- a great feature for a family car with multiple drivers, or one driver with multiple devices.

Compact size, big-time performance

With no CD player to worry about, Pioneer's designers were able to fit lots of features into a chassis that's 40% shallower than their CD receivers. The powerful MOSFET amplifier gives you outstanding sound, while Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR) technology brings back the musical detail lost when you compress music. A 5-band graphic equalizer lets you adjust the sound to suit your tastes, and you'll appreciate the three sets of preamp outputs when you add amps to your system.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

This digital media receiver will not play CDs. If you want to play CDs in your vehicle, we offer a wide selection of CD receivers.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Good stero for the price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this stereo in my 2011 Ford Crown Victoria. The install was VERY easy. The difference between this head unit and the factory head unit is night and day. Would have been nice to have the USB port on the front of the unit instead of hidden on the back. The display is nice and bright and provides enough information (in large enough text). It does get washed out in light. This head unit is amazingly small thanks to not having a CD. Hooked up to my factory speakers and the sound was MUCH better. Hooked up 4 Kicker 40CS684 and the sound is amazing! A little lite on the bass, but still amazing. Would buy again.

Pros: Good sound. Better reception than the factory head unit. Bluetooth works good with my iPhone 6. No CD to add extra bulk to the head unit.

Cons: Any light will wash out the display. Setup is more complicated than it should be. One knob to control everything? Not a great design. Much too easy to accidentally push the knob when you are trying to adjust the volume. Answering via Bluetooth is somewhat hit or miss. Will the sound come from my iPhone's speaker or the car speakers? It varies, which is maddening.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just finished the install today so no longer term review info yet. But super small. Bought this for an upgrade for a Victory cross country tour motorcycle this model was able to work with the stock handlebar controls as well as my phone and an usb drive . Should great and with an external amp and upgraded speakers it's very loud. I still need to tweak it a bit but so far so good.

Pros: Bluetooth Media Player Small package Steering wheel control 6 preamp outputs Auxiliary input.

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just bought a mechanically sound but pretty tired 1994 BMW 525i for my Nephew to drive in college. The car had the original stereo in it which had a factory amp and 6 speakers with a 6 CD changer in the trunk from the factory, a nice setup back in '94. Now it was barely working and would cut out all the time. I spun the wheel and bought the MVH-X560BT as an open box discounted item from Crutchfield and OMG the thing has sprung back to life. The old amp and speakers sound shockingly good it was just the old head unit that had gone bad. An easy install and it sounds great. Now my nephew can listen to anything he wants from his phone. I'm leaving the old 6 disc changer in the trunk just for nostalgia. I couldn't be happier for the price. Uncle of the year? I think so

Pros: inexpensive, easy install, everything I needed was included. Made a tired old car audio system sound great again

    Cons: none so far

    Excellent unit with few flaws

    2013 Fiat 500
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little unit and does what was expected with few flaws. I personally love the build quality and looks of the unit, it feels sold when navigating buttons and wheel. Definitely a big jump in sound quality and it could be my standard speakers that are somewhat ok contributing to this. Pros

Pros: Connecting via Bluetooth is a breeze and automated once established. Had very few times where it cut of playing through Pandora app but I believe the cause may have been bad reception. I love the rear outputs for USB & AUX, i hate cords hanging in front and this eliminates that I have the Fiat Abarth with the Beats Audio amp, woofer and such and never thought much of it but with this new headunit it completely changed how the bass is presenting. The bass is more more clear and firm.

Cons: Damn Pioneer and their Android issues. I bought this being interested in USB interface, Maxtrax, even bought the Mixtrax app etc. cannot get it to connect after hours of try & error......mainly error 19. tried everything from new cables, apps that supposedly fix it and so on. Even sent message to Pioneer and no response after 7 days. If you put on the box and description "Android compatible" you would think something as mainstream as HTC M9 would work......It doesn't.

    Great Aftermarket Stereo

    1999 Jeep Cherokee
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

replaced the OEM unit in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was thinking it would not have adequate volume since the OEM unit was rated at 55 watts, but it turns out this has plenty of volume. The USB works great, as does the BlueTooth and Aux input. Paired with my LG 4 Android easily. Sound quality is better than the OEM, except for the radio which seems to have weaker reception. After using mine for a while, i had to get another one for the wifes Cherokee, which has the Infinity speakers and amp. Hers works great also. Plus it works well to answer/make calls from my phone thru bluetooth, the microphone i mounted in the corner of the instrument panel in front of the steering wheel and it picks up my conversation great.

Pros: Buttons work well even though they are slightly small. The scrolling Album-Track display is nice. It was easy to install since the size is so short without the CD mechanism. I like the little toggle lever around the volume control to go up/down thru the tracks.

Cons: Display seems to be kind of soft plastic, scratched it already. I would have liked to have seperate sliders for tone controls like on the OEM, but no aftermarket stereo seems to do that.. have to go thru the Menu just to cut the bass on a 'News' channel to make it easier to hear the news.

Looks great and has many great features. I was not happy with the sound quality. Did not work with android (wired). I tried every trick, but no android support for my phone.

Pros: Looks Great! Many excellent features.

Cons: Did not care for the sound quality. Did not work with android (wired).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had this radio in my truck for 2 years now. Its a great product and does exactly what i need to. I can control the music with the remote control and my phone from a lawn chair in the back of the truck. Hands free works great and it took about a hour to install properly. I am upgrading to a double din radio in the near future and we will be placing this in my buddies 2001 Honda Accord so when it comes to upgrade, there are plenty of other cars that this can be installed into.

Pros: Cost, Ease of installation, Bluetooth quality/range, versatility of cars it fits.

Cons: Never understood the MIXTRAX function (not a deal breaker). Occasional quality issues (yellow LED's, Volume knob not working), both have happened only once or twice and the head unit needs turned off/on again.(not a deal breaker)

I really like the simplicity of this radio. It does not have a CD player, but with cell phones who needs a CD player? Phone syncs with BT with ease and the display colors are beautiful! The radio even provides broadcast data that will tell you the name of the song and the artist. Big screen for a single DIN radio. Certainly worth the money!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great bang for the buck. A lot of room to expand my system down the road. Works great with my iPhone 5 on Bluetooth or USB. So compact compared to stock, tons of room behind it for wiring.

Pros: Easy install. Easy to use. Great options for the price. Enough RCA outputs to expand.

Cons: Screen is hard to see in direct light and depending on color used.

    Great radio, but dim display

dragonbreath from Santa Fe, NM on 6/3/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the second 560BT radio I have. They both in MIatas replacing the factory Bose radio. I now have BT for phone and audio, usb input, and aux input. It also sounds much better and can be fine tuned with the different equalizer functions plus custom ones. I installed it myself which was fairly easy. My radio did not have the bolt under the dash so that removal was not necessary. The wiring was a little complicated and the directions were not very clear but a quick phone call solved the problem. The radio has many functions, several that I do not find useful, but others may, such as the display color constantly changing which I happily turned off. That leads me to the biggest negative which is the display. It is very dim during day use and the screen is very reflective which makes it worse. I tried every display color and customs ones and they are all unreadable with the top down and marginally readable with the top up. There is a brightness control that goes from 1 - 5. I have it set at 5 wishing there was a 10. I put anti-reflective film over the display which helps, but the radio really needs to double it's brightness to be more functional. Would be five stars with a brighter display.

Pros: Many good functions and features

Cons: Really dim, very reflective display for a convertible auto.

    Great stereo!

Robert from Sun Prairie, WI on 5/14/2016

    1984 Pontiac Trans Am
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Affordable stereo with great features and sound quality. I really was looking for a subdued design that wouldn't jump out from the dash of my classic '80s ride. I also like that the colors were adjustable to match dash lights. With no CD slot, and the Aux/USB ports in the back only, this receiver has a smooth, uncluttered look, and allows for a multi-line display that is very readable. Menu options are easy to navigate, and tune-able features are not buried under unnecessary layers. Installation was easy. Sound quality is great on it's own under normal listening. I may pair this with an amp at some point to get a bit more punch to rear speakers for those times I want to crank out my favorite driving songs.

Pros: -Clean, nonflashy design. -Quick pairing with android Bluetooth device. -Control buttons/knobs are very tactile and easy to use when the car is moving. -Menus are easy to navigate, and tune-able audio features are not buried under layers of menus. -Custom color matching to dash lights is great, though for regular use I tend to set it to white for easy visibility. -Easy one button dimming of brightness for night driving. -Very clear sound, with depth of range from bass to high

Cons: -Display could be brighter, bright days make it hard to read. -Wiring diagram in the manual was tiny, and required more deciphering than should have been necessary. -High pass filter affects all speakers, not adjustable between front and back speakers.

Day and Night Compared to Factory Radio

BF from Kingston, ON on 5/8/2016

    2005 Honda S2000
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit had everything I was looking for; a media only (ie. no CD) player, USB input in the rear of the deck, Bluetooth with hands-free calling, a remote mic and music streaming and a large display (for a single DIN radio). The smaller size of this media-only unit allowed enough space behind the radio to fit the steering wheel control interface module (the PAC SW1-RC). Space is really tight in the Honda S2000 but it fit perfect with the brackets taken from the Honda radio and attached to the new Pioneer! Although the unit says it's designed for the iPhone, my Blackberry connects and streams music no problem. The unit displays the artist and song names, which doesn't always happen with my Blackberry. But best of all the sound is fantastic, compared to the factory Honda radio. More power, better bass and clearer highs. I like how the Custom EQ mode works, allowing plus or minus adjustments through the frequency range. I'm very thrilled with the product!

Pros: Compact size, excellent Bluetooth music streaming, rear USB input with no wires sticking out the front.

    Cons: None

Perfect unit for modernizing my truck

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I began looking at this unit solely because I wanted Bluetooth capabilities in my older truck. This unit was everything I wanted and more. Connects to my Galaxy s7 automatically and calls are clear. The Pandora functionality is great as you can browse stations and even "thumbs up/down" right through the head unit. Also works great with my iPod and regular FM channels.

Pros: Large display, track change "lever" instead of tiny buttons under the display, Bluetooth works awesome, aux/usb ports are in the back, easy-to-use dimmer switch

Cons: Can be a little stubborn when it comes to removing the faceplate, but I really don't see myself taking it off on a regular basis

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a MAJOR upgrade from a factory GM double DIN radio-only deck. It is easy to use, just pressing the volume and roating it to the next option upon setup. The Dimmer button is the backspace in Menus. Very modern capabilites between Bluetooth, Pandora, phone and iPod interface.

Pros: There are many color/audio options and high-end features like HighPassFilter and Sub capabilites. Using Bluetooth the sound is truely its best as I use the 10 band equalizer on my phone app to adjust sound complementary to the deck's. It will sound best powering sensitive speakers 91db or better. The coolest audio enhancing features for boosting compressed files is a great help, just start on low settings. Playlist order is controlled with switch flip knob by the volume, very nice.

Cons: The main drawback is it wont' play ITunes songs from a USB stick; this confused me and a rep enough to exchange it. When the second unit was the same I found that USB will only play WMA or MP3. The manual should say this. The volume button is slick, put on a black rubber band. Not alot of power but enough with sensitive speakers. It won't dim with headlights (I like the dimmer button though). Mixtrax is pointless for me as cool as it looked on paper it just isn't needed.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bend All The Tabs You Can To Hold It In Place. I bought this because I like to have a clean look in my truck. I really like the smooth face plate and the option to run the usb and aux where I wanted to. I wanted to run the cables somewhere other than the front because I drive a manual and did not want cables in the way of the shifting. Plus I think the smooth faceplate looks better than cables bulging out of it. Also hiding the cables makes sure that people do not know what you have plugged in. I ended up running the usb and aux into the glove compartment which looks nice. It was not that hard to do. I decided to use a usb for all of my music because they are simple, or so I thought. Litte did I know that this media player only plays a few types of files. I ended up converting all my music to MP3, which is a less format for music, but I did not notice a difference in sound quality. This was very frustrating because I have a decent amount of music. It took me a few good hours to find a program to conver 2500 songs, organize all those songs, organize all the folders with songs, buy a new USB that is file type FAT32, and then download all my music onto the USB. It works great now but was a huge hassle. Saved me someone money and time from having to send mine back and install a new media player to play more file types. Overall I am happy with it but it does take some time to set it up how you want it.

Pros: Looks clean, big easy buttons to use, cables run in the back, choosing the color is nice, no cds, easy to install.

Cons: Screen can be dark during the day, getting out of folders for usb takes you back to the start and not the folder you were on, making your own color is a pain, sucks that it only plays three old file types.

This product and company (Crutchfield) are AMAZING. Plenty of shop tried to rip me off until I found Crutchfield. My whole family uses this site. The Pioneer head unit I'm reviewing is literally the best head unit I've owned. All new technology with amazing features. The price was unbelievablewith shipping AND a free install kit!!! Sound too good to be true? Well it's not!! I will never, ever buy an electronic from anywhere else. This head unit does it all (Aux,USB, BT, and AM/FM). No need for a CD player in this day and age and they did exactly what I've always wanted, got rid of it!! You can also choose between 200,000 different color combinations!!! Not to mention this works amazing for aftermarket door speakers and subs. Love this product and website!!

Pros: Does everything you can imagine. Looks great while sounding even better!! The price is also a jaw dropper.

    Cons: No cons!!!

I absolutely love this Digital Media Receiver! Pioneer has made a receiver whose integration with iPhones & iPods is extremely intuitive & easy to use. I also love the fact that the display & buttons are customizable, making it possible to match both the light green/blue & white of my Jeep's dash buttons & gauges beautifully. The compact size even made it possible to install a small but powerful amp directly behind the receiver. I'm am beyond pleased!

Cons: Has a display dimmer function, but it isn't connectable to the vehicle's gauge dimmer control.

LCD is hard to read during the day (it's not bright enough). Conversely, the LCD is too bright at night and since there is no auto-dimming function. There is a "dimmer" option in the menu, but you have to click into the menu, find it, and enable it to dim the LCD (which is too hard to make useful if you have to do this every night you drive.) The dimmer should have had a physical button if it was not going to be automatic. I would not buy this again due to the lack of auto dimming.

Pros: Bluetooth works very well. Easy to install.

Cons: Does not have a dimming function (for when the headlights are on). Every car has had this since 1990... why wouldn't they put this on an aftermarket receiver?

Small in size, but large on features. I like the input options, not many stereos have the rear USB and AUX inputs so your wires are still exposed. Being able to hide everything in the glove box is a plus. Sound with the radio is "ok", sound through the other inputs is great. Call quality is good with clear sounds on both sides.

Pros: Customizable colors, rear inputs, good call quality

Cons: Doesn't recognize some songs on my USB stick, not sure why.

A great receiver. BT connection is clear, and calls are too. I saw the reviews about the brightness of the preset buttons at night and it was correct, also agree that it is hard to read the display on a bright day. The instructions and wiring harness made install a breeze. Immediately improved the sound of the speakers in 2004 F 150. Love the toggle switch control and the remote. The long corded USB and AUX cords were able to be hidden in 2 locations. Awesome ability to customize the display colors to match the factory dash lighting.

Pros: Price value, customized lighting options, sound, easy to control, clear phone calls, clear BT connection for music. The mount and extra cubby were great.

Cons: Preset buttons too bright at night, daytime display hard to read. Best viewing at dusk and dawn!!

Cons: A bit of backgroud noise on the Bluetooth. I may need to relocate the mic to the middle of my car. Now it is in the upper left location by the window.

Great head unit... really nice BT connection and it does a great job with calls, phone charging, etc. Using it with a iPhone6 and it works great. The controls are not quite as intuitive as I would like.

Pros: Inexpensive, great Blue Tooth connection. Really like that it came with everything - external mic for calls, USB adaptor for charging and remote for the back of my Honda Odyssey.

Cons: Not very intuitive setup, it doesn't have that many buttons so you have to navigate through more venues than I wish

After having a few radios of other brands, I forget how good of a radio tuner that Pioneer makes. Most of what I listen to is digital, but I usually listen to the radio on my morning commute. Living half way between Milwaukee and Green Bay, none of the signals are real strong, but this unit can pull them in. Controls are a little backward from what I'm used to, but that is my deal not the unit's. Good sound quality on the Bluetooth phone.

Pros: Slick controls for the iPod, connects to my phone via Bluetooth pretty consistently.

Cons: Back lighting is a problem. The buttons on the bottom are way too bright, and the digital display is too dark for the daytime. Wish there was a dimmer wire that dimmed the screen automatically.

Not bad for the money. The controls are easy to use while driving. The bluetooth initialization is VERY good. The connection is mostly good but occasionally blips in and out while listening to music. Easy to install and sounds significantly better than the stock Saabaru junk. Call quality is pretty good. Mount the mic on your visor or suffer the consequences. The screen is a bit hard to see in the sun but otherwise good. Color choices are a nice touch.

Pros: Easy to use controls. Bluetooth initialization is great. Good sound quality. See my review.

Cons: Thin little wires! Felt cheap. Bluetooth music occasionally blips out. Always tells me the stereo model before the song that is playing (maybe I can shut that off somehow). The manual is written for tiny people who hate color and clarity.

Bought this in Sep 2014 & so far I really like it in my 1999 Sonoma SLS. I have a 160GB iPod Classic connected thru USB with iPod control - love it. Radio is good. It took a good minute get familiar enough with the controls without having to refer to the manual. The reason for the 4-star rating - the remote just stopped working about 4 months ago. (I travel in & out of the US) The remote has a new battery, with the proper camera, I can see the IR signal leave the remote but the head unit does not respond. Pioneer website charges $30+ for a new remote but not sure about the head or face only for repairs. Will research some more

Pros: - USB & AUX on the rear: nice clean face, IMO - Sound decent on factory speakers (upgrading whole truck) - Clean install w/Crutchfield accessories

Cons: -The remote stopped working just under a year from warranty expiration. My business travel delayed me from contacting Pioneer before the warranty expiration.

This head unit was exactly the ticket for a simple and affordable unit. No moving parts, just Bluetooth & USB (radio if I ever needed it) keep it simple and straightforward. The audio quality on the phone seems good, and all of the parts included with the kit worked perfectly in my Land Cruiser. Sound quality seems great thus far, and the three RCA Outputs offer solid expandability in the future. Yep, takes a little while to figure out the details, but once I got familiar with it I realized its the perfect simple solution for someone that only uses their phone for music.

Pros: Easy install, perfect phone pairing and great quality.

Cons: If your bluetooth device volume is too high (for my iPhone 6 anything over 80%) you will receive an "Amp Err" and the system will shut off.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the factory receiver in my 2006 Jeep Liberty with this unit. After much research, decided that the Pioneer MVH-X560BT provided all the features I was looking for and was at a very affordable price. The sole feature I was looking for was bluetooth, as I depend solely on my iPhone for media, and haven't listened to the radio or cds in over a year. So although this unit does not handle cds, that is a feature that I did not utilize anyways, even though my stock receiver had a 6 disc changer. A media receiver was the logical choice. Bluetooth works great and is easy to configure in a matter of seconds. Great for streaming Spotify, podcasts, Apple Music, etc. The MixTrax feature is also very cool, though only works with USB for me after the roll-out of Apple Music. Might be a DRM issue or something but was not able to get MixTrax to work with media from my iPhone. However I loaded a few playlists on a USB Memory Key and it works great. I get bored with songs easily and often change songs before they finish playing, so MixTrax suits my tastes playing clips of my favorite songs at 1 minutes each. The illumination is pretty good, especially at night, however I find it is difficult to read during the day, and have opted to use a custom green color that is easy for me to read during the day, then switch to read or orange at night. But whatever your color choices are, it is easy enough to change in a few seconds. Great receiver at a great price.

Pros: Priced very affordable. Heavy on features. Easy to use and easy to install. Crutchfield provided all the steps and materials needed for the install. The Crutchfield MasterSheet is very easy to read and follow. I have never installed any audio equipment before in a vehicle, and now feel like a pro.

Cons: Screen is difficult to read in bright sunlight.

    Major improvement!

BrianS from Nashville, TN on 6/20/2015

I've always been a Pioneer stereo guy, and this unit is awesome! I purchased this with a Crutchfield harness and a PAC steering wheel retention kit for my 2000 Buick Regal. What a value! My sound clarity and punch has improved dramatically! I bought this unit in particular because I wanted a rear AUX Jack to use with my XM Onyx stereo. I was able to run. All the wires behind the dash and it looks super clean. I also love the Bluetooth connectivity. I use Spotify a lot with my Android phone and as long as the app is open in the background the music will start up when I get in my car and it will pause when I turn off the car, it's just like having a CD player! Plus, I can change tracks through Spotify with my factory steering wheel control! The stereo also displays the song title and album info. I was not expecting that at all, and was pleasantly surprised. The hands free kit is also working great. My friends tell me the car mic sounds better than my phone. I can also have my music cranked and not only does the phone ring through my stereo, the stereo itself has an illumination setting that flashes through colors to get my attention when a call is coming in. Another nice little perk is that you can set the colors of the main screen and buttons different from the volume know and controls on the left. For example, my setup currently has the volume knob. Slowly scrolling scrolling through Colors while the screen stays on Orange. Nice touch!

Pros: Great value (unit plus accessory kit for under $200!) Great sound! Shallow chassis makes for easy installation! Bluetooth/display/track change functionality works great with Spotify! Looks great!

Cons: Stereo front beauty ring "bezel" does not fit with my dash, had to remove it. It's about 1mm wide on each side and there is no play in the factory dash. I'm pretty sure shaving the sides of the factory dash with a dremel would work and look good, but I'd certainly have a pro do it. As is, I removed the beauty ring and used a black paint marker to fill in the white stripe along the top and bottom of the pioneer unit. Looks pro!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In terms of value, this unit is packed with features for the price. My goals when looking for a new stereo were a rear USB, Bluetooth (with control for Pandora) and steering wheel control ready. This unit fit the bill and then some. Since there is no CD drive, the unit is smaller and the screen is larger, however the screen is the only thing I can complain about. Even though it is larger, it only has a 1 line display. Also, as others have stated, there is no dimmer wire, only a button to switche between dimmed and bright, which is somewhat of a annoyance when you have to constantly switch between them. When the screen is dim, you can't see it in the glare from the sun, when it's bright, it's way too bright for nighttime driving. Other than that, I have no issues with this unit. It's easy to use and if you've ever had an aftermarket unit before, you probably won't even need to read the manual to figure out how to use it.

Pros: Larger than average screen. Ton of features for a low price.

    Cons: No vehicle dimmer control.

Purchase and delivery fast and easy and price very competitive. Order included all required adapters and even an installation guide specific for my 17 year old German car. Unit was easy to install and set up. Bluetooth connected effortlessly and the features are easy to navigate. Very intuitive to program. Even can access the address book on my android phone. Hardly a need to refer to the instructions that it came with. The external mic allowed better placement to shield wind noise so sound quality is good even with the convertible with top down. Comes with a remote control but would rather have a smaller one with limited functions to attach to the steering wheel.

Pros: Easy installation. Compact size.customizable colors. External microphone. Aux inputs are removed from menu if nothing is connected simplifying navigation.

Cons: No USB on front. Had to fish a cable from rear to make it accessible. Limited number of colors. Haven't figured out how to make the display a custom color other than the basic selection of colors. Display is difficult to see in the bright sun regardless of color or brightness level selected.

Replaced a 12-yr old unit in an old Camaro to take advantage of modern Bluetooth technology and ipod control from the head unit. Fairly easy to figure out most functions without using the manual. Impressed by nearly infinite customizability on many functions. Streams music from iphone 6 without problems; shows track/artist info etc. But no ability to browse and select iphone music from head unit. Can move to next or previous song, pause, etc. Full ipod functionality from head unit including browse and select. Great sound. Display a bit bright at night, no automatic dimmer but can be quickly dimmed using a button. If in the menu setting, pressing the band button immediately escapes the menu to the main display. Phone bluetooth functions work well and in an intuitive manner. A very nice unit that delivers on its promises with no fuss.

Crutchfield shipping was quick and everything needed for a flawless install was in the box ready to go. I had no idea replacing the stock stereo would make such a big difference in sound quality. There are tons of settings to get your sound just the way you like it. I don't miss CD's at all with a flash drive connected to the USB cable. The lever behind the volume knob is awesome for changing tracks without looking or fumbling for a tiny button. My favorite feature has to be siri eyes free. The microphone sounds so much better than the little head sets people wear. I would say it's even better than the iphone 5 mic because siri doesn't misunderstand me in the car. I only wish the receiver alerted to text messages the same way it does an incoming call.

Pros: 1. Packed with features 2. Big display 3. Included microphone works loud and clear (clipped behind rear view mirror). 4. Shallow depth made install easier with no dash cutting needed. 5. Excellent sound quality from USB and radio. 6. Always connects to the phone everytime.

Cons: I agree with the display being hard to read in daylight and then at night it's super bright. It looks like the top 1/3 of the display is tinted darker than the rest. Menu isn't simple because of my pro #1 but you get used to it. There is quite a delay from the time I press the button on the unit to the time siri responds.

In the radio mode the station is identified. We also found the sound much more filling than the factory radio, and have the Loudness contour set to "Low". We never used a CD in the old radio and had tired of the annual SiriusXM charges, so we can't miss what we didn't use. This unit is well worth the money.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this media player in our 2005 Toyota Sienna and I have been very impressed with the quality and features. Some of the most impressive features are: 1) External mic provides excellent sound quality on phone calls and makes accessing Siri very easy. 2) The install was very simple and easy (I really like the narrow depth of the unit because of the lack of CD player). 3) Excellent sound quality. 4) Very useful display with lots of space (again, due to the lack of CD player). 5) Phone call features are easy to access which is important because it reduces distractions while driving. 6) I really like the rear USB/aux inputs in the rear. I routed all cables into a small storage compartment were everything is out of sight at all times. No expensive devices (or messy cables leading thief's to expensive devices) hanging from the face of the radio. One of my only complaints that mirrors many other reviews is the brightness of the display. It is dim and a little hard to see during daylight even on full brightness and too bright even when dimmed during the night. The option to choose the color of the display can help but that often requires changing the color setting for day and night.

Pros: Price Build quality iPhone integration Very clear external mic Large display area

Cons: Menus are mildly difficult to navigate Brightness setting

Customer service is the best!! I installed the first radio and went so easy. The USB port was easy to hide and I routed the mic for Bluetooth on the colum. The radio sounded ok with the matching speakers I got from Crutchfield. Then I tested the hands free calling only to find out the mic didn't work. So I pulled the radio and double checked that it was in the right port and it was. I called customer service and they greeted me by name and got me to tech support. Tech support sent me a new unit to try and it was here in three days. So I tryed the mic first and it still didn't work so I replaced the head unit and used the old mike. Now it works great. I just put the return label in the box and I'll give it to ups on Thursday. I'm very pleased with them and there level of service. THANK YOU!! P.S. You can use the USPS to do the same shipping job in the same time frame. Just saying.

This will be my last Pioneer receiver. But not for the reasons that probably jump to mind. I've been a loyal fan and consumer of Pioneer products for over 40 years. In all that time I have never been disappointed. I just replaced a 18 year old DEH-P430 CD/Receiver, because I thought the AM band had stopped working in my 22 year old GMC pick up (turns out it was the antenna cable converter, not the receiver!). I chose this model for two main reasons, sub-woofer support and Bluetooth. I am not disappointed. Not only does the iPhone work flawlessly via Bluetooth, but usage of USB, and the AUX connection, all work flawlessly and in complete harmony with one another. After replacing the antenna cable converter AM is working too! It'll probably be my last Pioneer receiver because it'll outlast me. And I have the old one as a spare.

Pros: Bluetooth range is outstanding. I was expecting problems, based on previous bluetooth solutions I've tried to use, the range hasn't been enough, but this one works great from anywhere in the cab of the truck. Sound, the old Pioneer I replaced had great sound, this one is even better. Its good to see that Pioneer is continually improving in all areas, but especially sound quality.

Cons: What with all the things it can do, its a bit complicated and I will admit that the user manual is the last resort. But yeah, its a bit of a learning curve to navigate. But I expected this, I don't think any other brands or models with this many features would be any simpler. I plugged in a USB thumb drive that was not formatted as fat32. It didn't read it, didn't blink, didn't do anything, tried another thumb drive, all is well. It would be better if it would have let me know.

Bluetooth setup worked great, and allows wireless audio from all apps on my phone. Next/Previous using the steering wheel controls work not only with iTunes, but also Pandora and the SiriusXM app. Exactly as I wanted. What I was pleasantly surprised by was how quickly it pairs up with my phone. On previous units I've used, when I start the car, it would default to the radio, or to iTunes. One head unit I had would default to the same song at the start of my iTunes playlist every time. (I got very sick of thatBluetooth setup worked great, and allows wireless audio from all apps on my phone. This defaults to exactly where I left off when I shut off the car, which is amazing. I listen to Howard Stern on demand, using the SiriusXM app. This means when I shut off the car, it auto-pauses the show, and when I start it up again it begins playing right where I left off. Awesome.

Pros: Great iPhone control. Fast, reliable pairing. Good sound.

Cons: The Bluetooth microphone doesn't work very well. When I had my Hyundai, pressing the siri button would use the Bluetooth mic in the car to listen to your commands, and dictation. It worked amazingly well. On this unit, it uses the external mic as well, but doesn't work nearly as well. display seems a little dated. It's surprising to me how the displays on aftermarket receivers still look like they did 20 years ago. The display also doesn't have a means to auto-dim when the lights are on.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit because of the features it offered. Siri ,pandora,iPhone support, it pretty much has everything you need. I'm partial to pioneer units and they have always been great products over the years. This is no exception, everything works great. Easy to install and set up. Features are easy to use once you know how to use them. I used pandora while my iPhone 6 is plugged in and it gives track information on the screen. Navigating is easy though your stations. I used the random feature and it switches between pandora stations flawlessly. Siri control is easy with one button push. The phone functions work great and in a noisy car the phone was clear as day. The illumination color choices are endless. Pairing my iPhone was simple and a BT audio works quickly. I used waze navigation app while listening to pandora and it worked great, audio for navigation came through and the music was slightly muted then returns to normal volume. You can't go wrong with this unit! Highly recommend it.

Pros: Easy set up, great features, worked with iPhone 6 and navigation app. Clear phone calls. Easy Siri control.

Cons: So far have not experienced any.

I was really impressed with the what I got for the price. I haven't purchased a car stereo in a very long time, but I really expected a throw away unit and this is a great unit. Works great via Bluetooth with my iPhone and I still have AUX and USB for riders!

    Pros: Light, Great Features, Customizable

Cons: You have to read the manual ;-)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased for a 2009 GMC Sierra Crew Cab with the BOSE Stereo. Called Crutchfield to assist with what AXXESS items were needed to keep Bluetooth from the Truck, steering wheel controls, etc. Installed it myself and after 1 call back to Crutchfield for assistance, all parts worked. Items to note though, Turning on Bluetooth for the Truck and the Receiver to my iPhone causes issues for the speaker when you are talking to someone. Simple fix though, I just don't connect the BT to the stereo, just to my truck. I am still trying to figure this out (have only had the unit for 48 hours). It even stops playing music when I get a call in. The unit itself is very small since it does not have a CD player, and was fairly easy to connect. Another item to note, I believe that the GMC Stereo unit provided high-pass filtering for the BOSE speakers, and with this stereo installed I now have distortion in my tweeters. I will remedy this with some inline filters at a later date, but just a very interesting item that I did not even consider. The unit functions fine. I recommend reading the directions to understand its full capabilities. I have had much higher end units before, but this one fits the bill for now. I wanted not so expensive with BT streaming and USB, and that is what I now have. Also, the USB cable is very long, so makes it easy to install pretty much anywhere in reach of the center console. Great little unit for the price! Hard to beat.

Pros: Small, light, BT Streaming, USB, Multi Color

Cons: Controls are not instantly adaptive, you will have to read the manual to understand how to select certain functions.

Great Digital Player for the price!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall this has been a great upgrade to my 1995 BMW 540i. The installation was rather easy and the wiring fairly straightforward(due to the BMW's external amp, instructions on owners forums were very helpful). The unit is quite sturdy and rather easy to use. Variable illumination is a great way to match the stock dash lighting, though I haven't found an exact match just yet. Hooks up to my iPhone 4s, iPod Touch 4g, and iPad(personal) and my Android phone(work) without a hitch via USB. Calls are for the most part very clear. I might be getting another one for the 1988 Toyota Celica GT-Four that's about to be added to my collection very soon.

Pros: The price point is great and the aesthetics fit in with an older car where all the bells, whistles, and giant touchscreens are a flashing distraction. The sound quality is quite good and the interface is intuitive and easy to use. Supports hands-free dialing and Siri, after a fashion. Bluetooth works great. Build quality is very good.

Cons: I wish the stereo had an headlight dimming function like most others. Sometimes, the lowest brightness settings are a little too bright at night. The glossy surface picks up reflections during the day and makes reading the display difficult. The volume button is too easily pushed in and I sometimes end up pushing it(taking you to the settings menu) on rougher roads instead of adjusting the volume(neither of my cars have steering wheel controls).

Installed in my 2004 Hyndai Santa Fe, was smooth with supplied kit. Compared to the after market radio that was in car (made me think the factory speakers was shot) when i bought, this one sounds 100 times better. It may say 14 watts per channel, but sounds much higher. It does work with my external USB hard drive (320 Gb) with 160 Gb of MP3 on it. My only gripe, the cell phone interface when placing calls is a little clumsy, not easy to do. Does not support voice dialing that I have found.

Pros: Price size features sound versatility

Cons: Limited bluetooth phone interface. Not "Dial Mom" not supported.

Crutchfield response on 3/4/2015 John, thanks for taking the time to leave a review on our site. To clarify the voice dialing function, this feature only works with iPhones that have Siri (4S and above) AND the phone has to paired with the receiver via Bluetooth. Through the Pioneer's controls, you can access Siri and have her dial calls for you as normal. The receiver does not have voice dialing capability for Android phones.

Great receiver if your ride only supports single DIN. Looks good sounds good. Pressing the volume knob brings up the menus, would have liked a separate menu button better to prevent inadvertently bringing up the menus. Also, the pandora app brings up an app on the phone that won't let you use your phone to control pandora. Those are my only complaints so far.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very small lightweight unit, which made it appealing. No one is using discs anymore and therefore a disc player is not really needed. It is a good product for the money but the sound quality is pretty limited. The 5-band EQ makes it hard to really customize your sound for your speakers. If you just want "loud" music this is a good head unit, but if you are looking to tune your speakers to a certain sound I would spend the money and go with a unit that provides more EQ band settings. Also, the seek button on my first unit did not work, but this was not an issue because Crutchfield being the great company it is sent me a replacement the next day :)

Pros: Crutchfield provides you with all brackets and wiring kits in order to install. Even if it is a little more on Crutchfield I HIGHLY recommend spending the money, because their customer support is unlike any other company today.

    Cons: Controls are somewhat confusing

For the price, this is a good unit performing well. The instructions are really bad and have to be carefully read to be understood. They are laid out poorly - it's hard to find answers to specific questions. Type is too small too. The display lighting is not easily adjustable and it doesn't respond to vehicle dash lights. The buttons are way too bright at night even at the dimmest setting. Adjusting EQ is not something you want to do when driving - kinda as bad as texting!

Cons: Display lighting and poor instructions. EQ is hard to change on the go.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, this is a very good head unit especially for the price. I purchased this to replace another head unit because I wanted the rear USB input and am very happy with the quality and ease of use for the most part. Having both a rear aux input and a rear USB is very nice. I was able to use the USB for my iPhone and still have the aux run to my glove box for a spare device. The Pandora controls work very well and I love the microphone for the phone. I wasn't planning on using it, because I drive a soft top Jeep, but ended up installing it anyway. Even on the highway, with the top up, I'm able to have short conversations which is a first for me using hands free. Overall, this I've found this to be a quality unit and worth the money. I would definitely purchase a Pioneer product again. As usual, Crutchfield's service and support are flawless. I had a question when I was swapping this with my older aftermarket unit which they answered in minutes.

Pros: Easy installation, variable display colors are fun, sounds/works great

Cons: Volume button easy to bump to cue menu, no auto dim feature on display lighting (have to manually cue with button which is easy, but would be nice to have it tied into dash dim)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I specifically wanted a unit with Bluetooth audio for streaming music from my iPhone (audio / calls). This unit delivers. It has all the right features for sound, sources, and connections at a great value. The display exceeded my expectations (brightness and colors). And, because this unit is a digital media receiver (no CD/DVD), I found the chassis to be compact and an easy fit/install. The important connections to external amps are included along with phone/mic, USB, analog audio inputs. Now that I own this unit, I understand why it has so many popular reviews. My install was in a 1998 Ford Expedition (also similar to F150) which has a double DIN factory radio, but only accepts a single DIN aftermarket radio (without cutting). In the end, I'm happy with this single DIN plus the right faceplate adapter.

Pros: Compact chassis. Illumination / Display is bright in daytime conditions. Bluetooth audio connects perfectly to my iPhone 5 perfectly and quickly, every time. Detachable face plate. Built-in amp or connections to external amps (with sub woofer and crossover controls). The lower end models have too few features... while the upper end models have too many features (e.g CD/DVD).

Cons: I had to read the manual on a couple of features in order to know exactly how it all worked.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install with the equipment from Crutchfield took about 2 hours, this included mounting a panel mount USB/Aux port in my dash (purchased separately). All connections were soldered using the Metra harness supplied by Crutchfield. I really can't believe what you get for your money now. I debated on the whole no CD idea, but, putting about a gazillion CDs on one 32GB USB drive is fantastic. However, note that the more music you put on the USB drive, the longer it takes to start up and be able to browse the drive, this happens each time you start the vehicle. The deck will do about anything I could imagine, but you will need to take some time to figure it all out, the manual leaves a lot to be desired. I dinged it one star on "Ease of Use" because the manual is unorganized and extremely difficult to read. I dinged it one star on "Sound Quality" due to lack of power, this may not be fair, most other installs I have done have included amplifiers. This unit will be getting an amplifier in the near future. I always come back to Crutchfield for car stereo for all the freebies they throw in, the master sheet, mounting bracket, antennae adaptor and wiring harness. My only problem with Crutchfield with this purchase was they told me I needed an antennae extension which I didn't. I paid $5 bucks for it, no big deal, store it away, may need it someday.

Pros: Features, ease of install, once you figure it out, lots of options. Freebies from Crutchfield.

Cons: Would like more power (always the case). Poor documentation from Pioneer

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted a new receiver to replace the stock unit in my 2008 Civic Si. My self imposed budget was less than $150.00 but I had a set of features that I needed to have and this unit had all of them plus a few more. The unit overall feels solid, though because it is a media player, it is extremely light due to the missing mechanisms for playing CD's. Has a lot of features for the price range, my install experience was very good, very easy. I wanted to retain the factory amp and sub-woofer functionality so I ordered the Metra 70-1722 wiring harness and soldered on 4 RCA connectors to the speaker (+)(-) wires and plugged them in the unit's pre-amp out (4ch) instead of the receiver's speaker wire leads. I lost the ability to control the sub's volume but it still bumps loud enough for me. I recommend this unit if you're looking for all the bells and whistles while working within a very specific price range.

Pros: Initial pairing is very easy, re-pairing happens very quickly. Quality of the stream is consistent, I haven't had any stuttering or cutting out while listening to spotify. Hands free calling works extremely well (iPhone6), the mic it came with is pretty decent, voice calls play over the speakers clearly Color of the back light for the knob control/buttons and screen/buttons beneath the screen can be set independently. USB and Aux are in the back which makes for cleaner integration Siri Eyes

Cons: No illumination wire to auto-dim when headlights are turned on. Didn't come with face plate storage case.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What's cool about this deck (check for yourself if you don't believe me) is that unless you buy the Pioneer Stage 4, all decks pretty much offer the same quality sound. So, each time you upgrade features (e.g., screen, GPS, etc) you pay more. However, the sound quality of the entry level and the top end remain the same. Since I haven't listened to a CD in over 3 years, a basic system like this offers the exact quality sound of higher priced models. Put your money into better amps or speakers. I called Pioneer and they told me that they have no plans to integrate their integrate their decks to the new phones. So, while you can control Pandora (thumbs up/down), see track names, etc., you cannot see or control some of the other features from the deck...arg! Also, Pandora seems to lock my phone screen.

Pros: Integrates very well with steering wheel controls. Small/compact size perfect for motorcycles or small cars (since no CD player) Bluetooth integration is better than expected. Has 3 stage digital enhancements of digital audio (i.e., it fills in the gaps and improves sound) Forward/back toggle is a brilliant idea. So many light and pattern options, it feels like a X-Mas Tree. Really good EQ settings: bass boost, voice, power, etc. Also, can control subwoofer directly from deck.

Cons: Screen is convex and hence highly reflective of light; causing a glare and limited visibility. Like the BMW iDrive, too many submenus needed to get to desired input. You'll actually notice low Bit-rate of songs through bluetooth (i.e., poor quality songs sound poor) Screen info is good, but only allows for one to two items to display. Why oh Why did Pioneer get rid of Mirroring features for iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy 4 and up? You can no longer control your phone from the deck. ARG!

I love this unit! Installation was very simple in my 2003 Jeep Liberty. The included harness and dash kit were perfect. It took me a few hours to install, but mainly because I soldered my wiring harness and looked for the best way to route the microphone and USB cables. I don't like that the USB and Aux in are in the back of the unit, which require running cables somewhere. I drilled/filed a small opening inside the storage pocket in my dash under the radio and ran the USB cable through it. The hole is virtually unnoticeable and the USB connection is right where I need it to be without any wires hanging out. I really appreciate the large letters on the display which make it easy to see while driving. Bluetooth syncing to my iPhone 5 was automatic. Another thing I love is that when I get in and start my car, BT automatically connects and begins playing. Other systems take longer to connect and require me to initiate something to start playing music. My daughter loves that I can change the background colors (since this will eventually become her vehicle and her first question was "can I make the colors pink?"). This is the second Media Player I've purchased from Crutchfield and installed myself. It is the best one yet, and as always, Crutchfield installation sheets were spot on. I did have to call with one minor question about the wiring and the technician answered it without hesitation...probably 2 minutes total on the phone. Awesome support

Pros: Easy installation; Large lettering on the display; Automatic BT connection and playing; Great sound and controls; Remote control is nice size and easy to use while driving.

Cons: USB and Aux connections in the back, requiring additional wires to be routed somewhere.

Bought this for my son's Silverado. He loves the mix trax and all the different lights. This is this is the first media player I have bought but who uses CD's anymore anyway.

Pros: Lights, mix trax, easy to install

Cons: Had to read the book a few times to figure out how to make the sub work. My fault though.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in a 78 Mercedes 240D, I use it almost exclusively with a Samsung Galaxy S4 streaming google play music over bluetooth, while charging on the USB connection. USB current is sufficient that I can use GPS navigation on the phone, and stream bluetooth music without draining the battery. The play/pause/fwd/reverse buttons on the radio control music in google play via bluetooth, or you can control it on the phone. When doing this, music plays and is interrupted by the navigation audible directions, which is what I wanted. My radio is low in the dashboard, just forward of the shifter, so it didn't bother me too much for this application that it didn't dim automatically, however for that reason I did not purchase it for some of my other vehicles (and believe me... for only that reason.) Sound leaves nothing to complain about.

Pros: Easy to use. User interface is very intuitive (Once you link . Bluetooth range is good, can use phone outside of car while I'm working on it streaming through the stereo. Bluetooth phone conversation excellent at cancelling background noise. Very appealing display for a single DIN radio.

Cons: Would be perfect if it had a wire that connects to the lights to automatically dim the display, because the display can be very bright if it is in. If you want to be picky, the preamp voltages could be higher.

I love the stereo. Pioneer makes great receivers. I orderd this model not knowing at first it didn't have a CD player my fault for not reading. After installing it and hooking it to my iPhones blue tooth i didn't need a CD player anyways.

Pros: It's light and smaller since there's no CD player. Really easy to install when you get the install package from crutch field. blue tooth was easy to hook up.

Cons: My only con for this is that the receiver face plate comes off but you don't get a face plate case if you wanted to take it off.

This unit is very cheap for all the features it has. I've had it installed on my car for about two weeks and have no complaints. It plays well from my I-pod, and it also plays well from my Galaxy 5 over Bluetooth. It is definitely an improvement from my factory installed stereo. Love this deck. I was surprised on how small it is, but since I don't need CDs it left me a lot of room inside the dash. Took a few minutes going over each settings and things couldn't be easier.

Pros: -Easy setup and install -simple BT pairing

Cons: -volume seems a bit low on stock speakers -Pandora/App mode seems to have less"features" when going over BT. When plugged in you can search your Pandora playlist via the deck. Same for iTunes Music. Not sure if the apps are to blame or the deck, but its not a deal breaker at all.. Just use Siri to control music selection.

Seems like a nice head unit, but I find the plethora of cables to be annoying. Why aren't the USB, microphone for hands free and AUX input on the FRONT of the unit, and not the back. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything worked great, could control/search my iPod Nano 7 from the radio (rear usb to the glovebox is smooth and classy), Bluetooth to my Android 4.0.4 Moto phone with Tune-In App (play/stop)- was great to have the Tune-In Radio resume itself automatically after shutting the Jeep off (like when getting gasoline). (Don't want to auto-resume? Shut the Pioneer off before shutting off your vehicle!) Great to hear GPS through the car speakers while playing TuneIn Radio too. Short installation depth was great, and kept me legal with hands-free phone use. Yes I said rear USB was classy. Run it to your glovebox, your console, your door pocket, under your seat, to your sunvisors! However- I'm used to Pioneer's old Premier line- and this isn't it. Worst was no auto-dim- had to hold a button in to turn dimming on- then during the day, hold the same button to turn dimming off. MixTrax- why? And only a one-line display with huge characters- can't tell at a glance the artist/title, need to keep glancing at it. Returned for a Kenwood Excelon, with all the advanced audio features and autodim and multi-line display that I remember Pioneer Premier having before they axed the line- Crutchfield was awesome with the return, keeping me as a customer (since the early 90's).

Pros: Very easy to operate, audio controls are 2 steps above basic (you won't need the book), front/rear/sub preamps for when/if you add amps later

Cons: In order of importance- 1. No auto-dim, 2. no advanced audio controls, 3. only single-line display, 4. preamps only 2 volt

I've only had the product about a month, and so far it seems to be working fine. I am hoping that the quality is close to what I was used to with the previous older Pioneers that I've owned, rather than the recent newer one.

Pros: Definitely like the smaller chassis, and install depth. Makes the unit much lighter, and seems to have a lot less vibration in it.

Cons: Still don't care too much for the rear usb, and 3.5mm connections. Sure you can run the supplied cables from the rear to a different location, but it does make it a little bit of an annoyance.

Install instructions from Crutchfield were incomplete, required me to call the tech support number to get wiring correct (on the plus side they were open on July 4th!). Biggest issue other than visibility is you can't just leave your I pod connected and have it play. You need to "wake" it up for the stereo to play it. Also you can't have the light effects without using mixtrack which means it cuts songs short and wont display track info at the same time.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I researched new head units for a long time. Compared all the major brands. Probably waited too long but glad that I settled on this Pioneer "media" unit instead of a traditional head unit with a CD player. Who even buys CDs anymore? If I do, it is only to convert to MP3 but I digress. This Pioneer unit installs easy (once you figure out how to remove the install cage) and is a nice upgrade in my 2011 Impala. It really makes the factory speakers sound 100% better. Plenty of room for mounting due to the reduced size and the features are great. BT audio is awesome and phone calls sound very clear. The setup is easy but as with anything new, it takes some time to learn and adapt to the controls. The manual could be better but not a major barrier to learning the functions. The display is HUGE compared to other head units (helped by the lack of the CD slot) but not too bright for me and the dimmer option works well. All in all, a great upgrade.

Pros: Sounds good, looks good, ways to use, what more could you ask for?!

Cons: Instructions should be re-written and include more real pictures (not tiny drawings).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, it's cheap - not the cheapest, but still cheap. I have a number of other Pioneer units, but this one is a disappointment, and the disappointment grows every day. The AM Tuner is terrible - The AM went out altogether at the 4 month point. While removing the unit for shipment to a service center, I discovered the Crutchfield antenna pigtail was the problem, confirmed on my electronics workbench. The cheap made pigtail had an open center conductor. Crutchfield provided a new pigtail and after installation, AM reception was Good. Crutchfield support throughout was outstanding. Radios of all stripes seem in this downward spiral to the bottom with regard to AM, and this one sets new lows. You can see their thinking with 6 AM presets and 18 FM. But you need AM when driving - for news, traffic and weather info. Oh! After I set my six AM presets, I got into my car on the thrid day - and it had "forgotten" all the presets. So I had to set them again - which is tough when you can't see the display! I put this in a 1990 Nissan - driving the same route every day, listening to the same stations on the original (Clarion) factory radio was fine. Now - with the Pioneer, I can't listen to the radio any more. Well, I did want to listen to my mp3 collection - I just didn't think that would be all. I don't use the Bluetooth, phone, ipod, or aux features, so can't speak to them, but the mp3 - well, let's just say it plays. OK. Finding what you want to play - I have about 2500 songs in maybe 100 folders - is not so easy. Especially since you can't see the screen! And - if you want to search among your folders, it always starts at the same one.

Pros: Decent sound and acceptable USB support for mp3 files

Cons: You can't see the display during the day, at max brightness - no matter what color you select. This is a MAJOR problem.

Overall this is a nice unit that interfaces fine with my Android phone via bluetooth. I don't carry CDs in my car and in a Miata there's not that much room anyway. I paired it with a Kenwood compact amplifier so I can't comment on the unit's power output but with the amp it sounds tremendous. It was a lot shorter (shallower) than I thought but if you don't need to make room for the CD mechanism I suppose that's to be expected. More room behind it is definitely a plus.

Pros: Integration with phone, USB, bluetooth, aux in. Multi colors are pretty cool Controls are ok, about on par with other head units. Not quite as "busy" which is good.

Cons: Display is hard to read in the sunlight with the top down Display doesn't "auto dim" at night but can be manually dimmed I find that when adjusting the volume I will often push a little too hard and click into the menu. This seems like a design issue, the button should not be that mushy. Using the bluetooth phone integration while driving doesn't really work because the mic is not sensitive enough. Would be nice if it had a auto volume feature when ambient noise goes up.

Pros: Able to match head unit with factory dash lighting colors, easy to use, simple design, and great sound for the price. USB and Aux rear input make it easy to conceal add on electronics in a glove box or ash tray.

I wanted a media player only for a dedicated iPod, getting tired of switching cd's. Now all my music is on one device. The rear interface provides a cleaner look with no cables showing, running the iPod to the glove box. However, when you start pushing over 1000 songs, navigating through the menu becomes cumbersome - especially in a moving car! I find one menu and it becomes hard to revert to the original or change search criteria. It's not a very easy interface based on the number of controls available, even after reading the manual and following it step by step. So I have it on mix and just let it run, bypassing songs if I don't want to listen to it. We'll see how long the advance song dial (push right to advance) lasts before the spring gives out.

Pros: Excellent features for the price, small chassis, lots of color combinations, 6 pre-amp outputs, easy Bluetooth setup

Cons: Music search, hard to read display in daylight, could have a higher voltage output for the pre-amp outputs

    Easy install.

This is the first head unit I've ever installed. Excluding the time playing around with the unit once I got it installed, it probably took me 90 to 105 mins to install (from pulling off the head unit bezel to putting it back on). The wiring harness offered for the install made it a snap. Everything was color coded. Finding my way around the menu options didn't take much time to figure out. It took about 15 minutes to get the Bluetooth function to work. BT audio works better than the factor head unit in my Durango. I spliced the head unit wires by twisting them together and putting electrical tape on the connections. It would probably be better with twist caps or crimping them together.

    Cons: None so far.

I have had this receiver in my 2002 Subaru Impreza for about 1 month now. I absolutely love it! It has all the connections I was looking for, and a big plus is that the USB and Aux ports are on the rear of the unit, so I do not have any unsightly cables hanging off the front of my receiver. Just a note that this stereo does NOT play CD's which I like since my iPod is always connected. It also allows the receiver to be smaller in size. Also all cables are included (USB, AUX, Mic) Bluetooth: This works great with my phone (Nexus 5) and seems to connect every time I get in the car without problems. The only problem I do have ,is when I select the BT source, it automatically begins to play audio from my phone. For most people this may be great but I have multiple audio apps installed and it does not always choose the one I want. I don't know if this is a phone issue or the stereos issue. The BT calling is great as well. Display: I really enjoy the many options available for the display. There are two sections of the display that can be changed to any color you want (very cool). The problem I have with the display is that it seems a little too dim during the day even with brightness up all the way, and it seems too bright at night, with brightness down all the way. iPod: I have a 5th Gen iPod classic hooked up to my stereo via USB. It works great! I just leave the iPod in my center console and can control all my music from the stereo, including choosing playlists, artists, etc.

Pros: Rear USB and AUX inputs All cables included (usb, aux, mic) Long microphone cable Ability to change display colors in two separate Bluetooth, Auxilary port, Pandora, 3FM, 1AM, USB/iPod Compact Size

Cons: Display: Seems too dark in daylight, and too bright at night Bluretooth audio automatically starts playing (sometimes usefull, but not always)

Adam S from Vancouver, Canada on 5/1/2014

I generally like this deck. It's not fancy but it does what I want a deck to do (handle calls and play music via bluetooth). Sound quality is decent (no distortion at the volumes I normally listen, but does distort if I try to see how loud it will go). I do have a few minor gripes about how it is configured: On power off the deck sends a stop signal to my phone which means that on power up it restarts the last song I was listening to instead of resuming play where I left off. When I plug my phone in to USB it automatically changes audio source from bluetooth to USB; it would be nice to be able to disable this as I primarily use USB for charging. Another feature on my wish list would be to configure the output of the call button to allow me to launch google voice commands. The built in mixtrax feature is quite gimmicky. I can't imagine myself ever using it.

Pros: -Quickly connects to bluetooth on power up (very important to me, takes about ten seconds) -Shallow form factor makes install easy -Nice EQ and crossover -Aux in can be disabled, speeds up finding audio source

Cons: -Runs hot: I installed this without the in-dash receiver kit due to it being out of stock when I ordered. Because of this I could reach around and feel the body of the deck while in use and it would get extremely hot. I'm not sure whether this will cause any problems down the road. -No auto-dimmer wire -Sends stop command instead of pause on power down

This unit is perfect for what I wanted. It is pointless to have a CD player on a car stereo anymore. This unit has USB and AUX inputs on the back of the stereo. This allowed me to run them where I wanted in the cab of my truck. It is easy to operate and the included instructions were easy to understand. It has a nice finished look and the ability to change the color of the buttons/display to match the interior lighting of the vehicle is fantastic. iPhone connected easily to the stereo and the Pandora functionality was a real plus. No complaints so far. The usb options is great! Audio output is very clean using BT audio, Pandora via bluetooth, Radio, and USB. Turn on Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR)--it makes mp3 files sound much better. Haven't used the aux input yet. Included mic works very good for phone calls. Built in low pass and high pass options eliminated the need for a crossover in my setup. Built in EQ is good enough. Tuner pulls in distant stations I have the usb extension going down the console and located inside the center console storage area, as well as the aux input. Phone calls are great, with a manual transmission phone calls can be a challenge while driving in town.

Pros: BT clean and clear, every device I've connected works great. Pandora integration is very good, ability to thumbs up and down on the unit and select your pandora stations on the device is nice. USB works simple and easy. I put a hundred or so songs on a flash drive, hit shuffle, and it plays them back in very good quality. Reads the title/artist in the mp3 files. Low pass/high pass options eliminate the need for a crossover. Crutchfield install kit worked perfectly.

I've had this deck in my Nissan quad-cab truck for a few months. It is feature-rich and works great with my iPhone over Bluetooth. However, there are several annoying aspects about this unit. First, there is no rubber ring around the volume knob - just slick plastic. You cannot increase the volume with just one finger without applying enough pressure that you end up pressing the button and activating the menu system, thus disabling the volume. The press is very sensitive - hit even the slightest bump in the road you will inadvertently press it and activate the menu system. Second, I leave an iPod connected to the deck. If I don't drive the truck for a couple of days, when I start it up, the deck automatically switches to the iPod after about 10 seconds, even if I have the radio on or if the deck is turned off. I suspect this is because the iPod powers down and when it gets power from the dock cable it thinks I want to play through the iPod. Third, the sound of this deck is decent but not great. I initially had the stock 6 speaker system and ended up buying Polk coaxials for the front and Kicker coaxials for the rear (with baffles) but the audio improvement was marginal. I have tried to get the custom equalizer set to make it more pleasant but I haven't been successful. My audio reference is the Alpine I have in my Corolla with its stock speakers; however, it could be the acoustics of the two vehicles are substantially different, which may account for the quality differences.

Pros: Works great with iPhone over Bluetooth. Lots of features. Easy to install.

Cons: Ergonomic problem with sound/menu button, audio quality is just ok, need to fix iPod auto sensing

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'll think twice about buying Pioneer equipment in the future. I have a pioneer home stereo that I was frustrated by too. It works okay now that I've worked through a few things, but the sound isn't as good as the factory (Pioneer) that came with my Scion XB and the usability is equally [minorly] disappointing. If you're considering buying this, read the manual first. There are 2 sections, Using it, and Installing it. No index. Can't just flip to the thing you want to know about. You have to remember where it is. And it wasn't written like an instruction manual. It was written as pieces of information you might need to know. And it missed one thing I needed to know. The Orange wire: what is it? Do I hook it up to the other orange wire.. which is the only other wire? Nope, that blows fuses. I called Crutchfield and the tech said it's some kind of ground. As you can imagine, the stereo works fine with it disconnected (and a new fuse). There's no description or mention of the orange wire in the manual. None. It took me a while to get used to the navigation. And maybe there are some tricks I have yet to learn, but I'm not a fan of their implementation. I have yet to be able to master navigating my always connected iPod. Maybe it's me, but I'm not new at this.

Pros: Rear USB. Bluetooth works great.

Cons: Horrible user / installation manual. Read the wire diagram part. Try to match what you have before you by. Minor issues: This thing is a dust magnet. I cannot keep it clean. The face is also very shiny, which looks great when it's off, but makes it hard to see in daylight due to reflections. A matte finish on the face would be so much better. The sound quality, while still using my factory speakers, is not as good as factory Pioneer Scion stereo. No Mute. Huh? Yeah. No mute.

    Great Little Unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It took me quite a while to decide on the right head unit for my truck. I ended up getting the Pioneer MVH-X560BT based on feedback from a Crutchfield advisor - and I couldn't be happier. One surprise (as another reviewer noted) is how short/shallow this unit actually is. Since it's a media-only receiver, it doesn't need the space for a CD player mechanism. This has the added bonus of giving you extra room behind the unit for the wiring. One of my absolute requirements was having a rear USB connection. I have a dedicated iPod for the truck, so being able to leave it in the armrest and connected to the USB in the back is the only way to go. I paired the head unit with a Clarion XC1410 amplifier. I was a little concerned that the pre-amp output on the Pioneer was only 2 volts, but it seems to be working fine. I don't care for the Mixtrax or other visual feedback that are available on this unit, but that can all easily be turned off so that you get track information and the clock. I'd recommend this unit for anyone considering a media-only receiver.

Pros: Good sound quality Easy installation Rear USB connection

Very simple and affordable deck. Just radio and digital media. This unit is small and easier to install than other receivers because of it. The Bluetooth is handy and easy to hook-up, and Pioneer (as always) gives you great control of your sound with a multi-hz eq.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For some reason the Star ratings are not working with my version of Firefox. I like the radio and the bluetooth connection is flawless. I may need to relocate the microphone because the sound is muted. The installation into my 2002 BMW 330i could have gone more smoothly. The problem is the Scosche amplifier is too small to fit into the space vacated by the factory radio. The problem was solved by extending the wires connecting the amplifier to the vehicle plug allowing it to be stashed into a niche behind the factory radio enclosure. Unfortunately I came to this decision after trying for hours to get everything to fit using the included connectors. A much quicker installation would be to provide 2 multi-wire color coded cables that allow placing the amplifier behind the glove box which is easily removed. There is ample space behind the glove box for all kinds or accessory equipment.

Pros: Looks good when installed, there are many functions and they all work well.

Cons: Requires the Scosche amplifier which is too large to fit into the factory radio enclosure with the radio. This is not that much of a problem as long as the installation instructions and connection harnesses address the issue.

Cons: I will say the menu quite confusing. and trying to see this display during the day is horrible also it could use a little more power because some Kenwoods have 22rms when this is only 14rms.

Pretty good DMP for the money. Who wants to fumble with CD's now that you can stream audio from a phone or load up all your tunes on a USB stick? This unit integrates very well with both iPhone and Android, Pandora and PowerAmp are easily controlled from the front panel. Unfortunately I will probably be swapping this for something else as it has one fatal flaw: I cannot dim the "Downtown Tokyo" display enough to allow me to drive safely at night. There is no dimmer wire connection to your vehicle, only a one position "Dimmer" setting which still leaves it way to bright for my use. Also as mentioned here by others the ergonomics are pretty poor: trying to adjust the flimsy volume knob results in kicking the unit into the Menu settings 50% of the time. Top those flaws off with the inability to play FLAC files and I'm looking now for a replacement.

Pros: Compact, Easy to install. Sounds great. Integrates very well with Android via Bluetooth.

Cons: Display cannot be dimmed enough for night driving. Volume knob is too easily "pushed" into configuration mode when attempting to change volume. Does not play FLAC files.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love my tech gadgets and have replaced the stereo in every car I've owned... I have to say that this is the first to exceed my expectations. It does everything very well - simple and intuitive. The button layout makes it easy to get to all features, although I did have to read the manual to figure out how to do a couple things. Much easier than the JVC Excelon that I put in my truck last year. Love the quality of the iphone integration. I like the fine adjustment of volume, others seem to have too few steps where levels seem to jump. I have never been compelled to write a review before, but I am seriously happy with this purchase!

Pros: Excellent iPhone integration. Comes with all cables (AUX / USB) that you'll want when installing, Bluetooth audio streaming. Controls are easy to use after you spend just a little time with the unit. Custom colors allowed me to match the green dash lights in my old Honda perfectly!

Cons: I miss the HD radio feature that I have in my other vehicles. Had to read the manual to figure out how to adjust the custom colors. No "auto dim" with the lights, but it does offer an easy "Dimmer" button AND you can set the colors and brightness levels for both regular and dim settings.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good Product, many options to play your music from. Install pain free thanks to included kit, wiring harness and antenna adapter from Crutchfield for my 07 Altima. I've wired microphone to the steering column, USB cable to glove compartment and AUX cable to small compartment below climate controls. I don't get people who list one of the cons of the unit that there is no front USB connection. Sort product by feature and buy one with front USB port, don't neg the product because it has rear USB connection, which is actually a great plus because it creates clean installation and eliminates wires dangling from your dash. Definitely improvement in sound clarity and quality from factory radio receiver. Menu can be a little better and as everyone stated manual sucks unless you download it on iPad as pdf - then its bright and clear. Screen has glare during sunlight and I have to switch from one color preset to another during night and day driving. That is the most annoying thing with this unit - read Cons section.

Pros: Many connectivity options. Rear USB and AUX inputs. Build in bluetooth for phone calls. Great phone features - you can see list of missed, received and dialed calls as well as search your phone book. You can also set contact shortcuts for most frequently dialed numbers. All cables included.

Cons: Screen scratches easily. I wish there was easier way to adjust audio settings - using the wheel takes some turning and pushing - not safe when driving. Setting your color to match dashboard is great - too bad color looks completely different when you use dimmer. To set custom color you have to set it twice - for key color and screen color - annoying. Also custom amber color for Altima is invisible during the day. I have to swich it to white. Then during the night I have to switch it back.

I installed this in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Sedan. Original radio was the standard AM/FM Cassette player WITHOUT Bose. Anyone installing this in a GM sedan, that has a deeper dash, will probably not need to use the 1" extender. I did a dry fit before connecting the harness, and the unit fits flush and there is plenty of room behind the unit, so it does not need to be adjusted. It was a perfect fit, with plenty of room in the dash cavity. In fact, the original radio is almost 2" deeper than the Pioneer unit. A perfect fit.

Pros: Only EVERYTHING! Nice to update a 13 year old vehicle with a digital receiver. The USB and AUX ports work perfectly to stream your music, And the Blue Tooth pairing to my Droid phone are flawless. Routing the wiring seems to be the biggest issue, but that is no fault of the unit or Crutchfield. Being a little creative and taking a few extra minutes to devise a plan works wonders. The harness matches up, the remote works, and the cabin of my car is filled with music again.

Cons: If there are cons, I surely can't think of one.

I got what I paid for which was a single din rear USB, iphone 5 compatible with bluetooth, variable color choice, high pass filter for rear amp. The 5 band equalizer is ok, but you have to be an audio engineer in order to understand the what the decibel settings mean. I have a clarion HU and its menu is so much more user friendly. It defaulted the sub off, which waisted many hours of my time troubleshooting my wiring and amp connections. It found my phone immediately and connected without any more effort. There was no audio extension cable to connect to the rear AUX, so I didn't connect anything to it. Still new and confusing, but hopefully someone will do a youtube review showing how to set it up better.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've only had this unit for 2 weeks, but it's been a great 2 weeks. I wanted to upgrade my 2001 F-150 to bluetooth compatibility for a reasonable cost. This unit does that along with the quality that Pioneer is known for. It may not have a ton of flashy bells and whistles, but its a great product. It was easy to install with free installation kit and info.

    Pros: Easy to use...easy to install...sounds great...bluetooth audio/calling on a buget

    Cons: the moment

Overall nice product. I really like the small size which left a lot of room for the wire harness so I didn't have to worry about pinched wires. Really don't like the illumination and brightness settings on the display or how difficult it is to access the menu and dim the display at night.

    Pros: Size

    Cons: Brightness settings

Install was pretty straight forward. This thing is very shallow and should not interfere with anything behind the unit.

Pros: Easy to use interface, it didn't take long at all to setup and configure sound to my car. Bluetooth is crisp and connects to my phone instantly (calls and audio streams). Crutchfield!!! THERE IS NO BETTER, easy purchase, quick shipment, techs are knowledgeable.

I replaced my stock stereo in my Magnum after it failed. This stereo sounds so much better, even with my stock speakers. No need for a CD anymore, I use a 16GB USB drive now. The blue tooth connects easily to my android phone and making calls are a snap.

Pros: Great sound, ease of use. Rear usb and aux.

Cons: The only issue I have is the display can be hard to see in direct sun light.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The first unit I got was a dud. After a professional install, the USB connector didn't work. I got a new one from Crutchfield and replaced it myself. No problems after that. The BT connects quickly. As with all of these units (I have 3 in various cars) it is hard to figure out how to do all of the functions because there are so many. That's a pro and a con and I am not sure how to get around it. My only gripes are with how Android interacts with the unit, but that isn't the unit's fault.

Pros: Quick BT connectivity. Large clock when it is visible. Sound is fine

Cons: I wish the Clock was always visible no matter what Display setting I was in. When you replace a factory stereo, there's no clock usually and I always want it visible no matter what screen I am looking at. First installation was a dud and had to be returned. I would really like to either have a large mute button or a larger pause/play button. Pausing music or muting it seems like a common function but the pause/ play button is tiny . This is the same with another brand unit that I have as we

I bought this unit for my girlfriend's 2005 Toyota corolla and it blows away the factory radio by far. Sound quality is greatly improved. Bluetooth integration is seamless and the mic pics up the voice great even from the dash. Overall it was a great buy and with Crutchfield's free mounting kit it looks almost stock.

Pros: Great radio Great Bluetooth Bunch of colors to choose from Great audio improvement over stock (even with factory radio)

Cons: Screen is hard to see during day.... Very hard to see, my only real gripe. No cd (not necessarily a con but should be taken into consideration)

Been using this head unit for about two weeks and so far no problems. I'm using it with my iPhone 5s and iOS7 and they're fully compatible even iTunes radio can be used trough the receiver controls. Lot's of features for the money. Like the way bluetooth works. Very good head unit for the price. Also love that Crutchfield send everything for an easy and hassle free installation.

Pros: Brightness control, dimmer function, 5band eq, HP and LP filters. Siri control, Bluetooth works flawlessly, Large text, unlimited colors combinations to match any interior.

Cons: Mixtrax feature is useless really. Instruction manual can be better and preset buttons can be made a bit bigger

For the price, your not going to beat this unit! Android, IPhone and IPod compatible. Dimmer switch is always available to compensate for day and night driving. Bluetooth.. The lever is an excellent idea and helps with searching radio stations up and down as well as tracking through your favorite mp3's. Most Strongly Recommended!

Pros: Large Display. USB and accessories located at rear of unit for larger display size. Clock is able to be switched on and off independent of turning on unit by touching display.

Cons: I wish there was a mute on the unit. Mute is located on remote control. Minor inconvenience.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The MVH-X560BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth ver. 3.0, allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP (Hands Free Profile), HSP (Head Set Profile), OPP (Object Push Profile), PBAB (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer MVH-X560BT.

SPP + USB Pairing w/ Guest Mode: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the MVH-X560BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings (your phone must also support SSP). When your paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this head unit, but nly one device can be used at a time. You can also pair your Apple iPhone by simply connecting it to the Pioneer head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display. In addition, the MVH-X560BT features "Guest Mode", which allows you to add and replace a mobile device instantly to the receiver. Guest Mode is a great feature for a family vehicle with multiple drivers or a driver with multiple devices because it allows users to pair and delete devices easily without a lengthy registration or deletion process.

Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The MVH-X560BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/HSP/OPP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The MVH-X560BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the MVH-X560BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book from the head unit, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.
    • Voice Dialing (Siri only): When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or 5/5C/5S via Bluetooth, the Pioneer head unit has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. You'll be able to dial a phone number or contact via voice command.
Note: The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of many aftermarket or factory radios. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. The microphone measures 0.475" (diameter) x 1.445" (depth). The unit is not equipped with an integrated microphone.

Wireless Audio Streaming (with Song/Artist Info): The Pioneer MVH-X560BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. The MVH-X560BT will be able to control basic playback features; Play, Pause, & Skip Tracks (app must also support). The head unit will also display your  music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (app must also support). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

    USB & Android Integration

Rear-Panel USB Input (Android Compliant): The unit's rear-panel USB (type-A) port and 58" USB extension cable allows you to connect a USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) or USB Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) compliant device; such as your Android smartphone, portable digital audio player, or USB thumbdrive. The USB port enables audio playback & control of MP3, WMA, and WAV music files stored on your portable USB MSC/MTP device through the Pioneer MVH-X560BT. USB devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the digital media receiver's USB port (1A) and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On.

    • File/Track Name List: The Name List feature displays a list of MP3/WMA albums and tracks on a connected USB device, so you can easily access your music. Music files are listed first by Artist name, then by Album name, and finally by Song title.
    • Song/Artist Information: During MP3/WMA playback, the unit displays any recorded ID3 Tag (ver. 1.x/2.x) and WMA Tag information; including artist, song, and album name.
    • Playback Controls: The Pioneer digital media receiver provides basic operations like Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, and Repeat/Random for USB device playback. When a compatible Android smartphone is connected, the head unit will control music playback functions; you will not be able to control your music from the smartphone.
Note: The unit's rear-panel USB port supports Android OS 4.0+ (Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean) as a Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) device. It also supports Android OS 2.2+ (Froyo/Gingerbread) as a Mass Storage Class (MSC) device; as of 11/25/2013. The receiver does not support Android OS 3.1+ (Honeycomb) or other Android operating systems not listed.

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: The Pioneer MVH-X560BT supports the following types of MP3/WMA/WAV files loaded onto a USB mass storage class device.

    Media Type USB (MSC/MTP)
    File System FAT 12/16/32
Playable File Types   MP3: bit rate of 8-320 kbps w/ sampling rate of 32, 44.1, 48 kHz

    Maximum # of Folders/Files 500 folders/15,000 files
Tags ID3 tags (ver.1.0/1.1/2.2/2.3/2.4), WMA tags

Media App Control (for Android): The Media App Control mode lets you listen to your favorite music apps on your Bluetooth-paired Android smartphone (2.3+)  through the Pioneer head unit and your vehicle's speakers. Media App Control lets you take control of compatible music apps on your paired Android device through the Pioneer MVH-X560BT. Media App Control allows you to play, pause, and change tracks from a compatible music app directly from the controls on the Pioneer head unit. The app's name (i.e. "iHeartAuto"), station identification, and song/artist information will be displayed on the head unit's LCD screen (when applicable, depending on app). Rear-Panel Aux Input: The MVH-X560BT is equipped with a rear-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

    AM/FM + Pandora Radio

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Pandora Internet Radio (for iPhone & Android): The free Pandora App (either from iTunes Apps or Google Play) lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer MVH-X560BT using your USB-connected Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) or Bluetooth paired Android smartphone. Your Apple iPhone must be connected to the MVH-X560BT via the appropriate Pioneer iPod connector cable (130CDIU51/130CDIU52, sold separately) or the connector-cable that came with your iPhone. Your Android smartphone must support A2DP/AVRCP/SPP Bluetooth profiles and be paired with the Pioneer MVH-X560BT. Your iPhone or Android smartphone will also need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. The MVH-X560BT provides control over the Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information.

    • Station List w/ Shuffle: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z). You can also listen to songs played randomly from various stations within your Station List.
    • New Stations: New stations can be created based on the current songs or artists playing.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or smartphone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada and only available in the United States.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The MVH-X560BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the MVH-X560BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

2V/6CH Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The Pioneer MVH-X560BT features three pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The Pioneer MVH-X560BT lets you adjust the subwoofer preamp output's phase (normal/reverse) and volume (+6 to -24).

Crossovers: The MVH-X560BT employs high pass and low pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speakers.

    • HPF: The head unit's 12dB/octave high pass filter only allows frequencies higher than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125Hz) to your front and rear speakers through the unit's speaker-level or line-level outputs.
    • LPF: The subwoofer preamp output features an18dB/octave low pass filter so only frequencies lower than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125Hz) are output to your connected subwoofer.

Equalizer: The Pioneer MVH-X560BT features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB device, iPod/iPhone, and portable media players. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer MVH-X560BT digital media receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.

    • Bass Boost The MVH-X560BT features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
    • Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone/iPad. It is also not supported by USB MTP devices.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer MVH-X560BT in-dash digital media receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Multi-Line LCD w/ Ever Scroll: The Pioneer MVH-X560BT features a multi-line LCD with LED backlighting. You can easily view file/folder lists from your MP3/WMA music files, radio presets, or data from your connected iPod/iPhone (up to 13 characters). When the Ever Scroll feature is set to On, recorded text information scrolls continuously on the display. It will auto-scroll up to 64 characters. Set this feature to Off if you prefer the information to scroll only once.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 5 preset colors (White/Red/Amber/Green/Blue), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors. In addition, the brightness and contrast of the display can be adjusted. You can also select "ILLUMI FX"  to enable an illumination effect (on the display and keys) that will slowly fade in and out in a set pattern when a command or operation is made from the head unit.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music. You can also choose which area's of the head unit's face illuminates; select Display, Display/Buttons, or Off.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The MVH-X560BT comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause source, change the display, and adjust the audio. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel). In addition, you can answer/end calls from a Bluetooth connected smartphone.

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.

    Q & A

    Customer Q&A

    Crutchfield asked
    Why did you buy this?

I had been looking for stereos to replace my factory stereo for the past week. I gave Tim, my sales person, what I needed and he matched me up with the Pioneer. One of the main reasons I purchased the Pioneer is it had a rear usb port instead of one on the front of the stereo. I do not like a bunch of wires hanging out of the front of the stereo. [ Gary  Oct 08, 2016 ]
I have always liked Pioneer, have install several of their receivers, and never had any problems with them [ JIM  Sep 10, 2016 ]
Upgrade to old radio [ James  Aug 10, 2016 ]
Recommendation from Artie. It's going into an older Dodge convertible remotely mounted in the the trunk. Already have power amp, but wanted to switch to a thumbdrive and also get the bonus of having bluetooth phone connectivity. Replacing an ancient Alpine 3 disc CD changer, where we had to run a ribbon cable to extend the "eye" of the unit's infrared receiver. Worked well, but time takes it toll. Artie's Bio: [ Anthony  Jul 31, 2016 ]
already bought one for myself.. works well.. now the wife wants one. [ Eric  Jul 19, 2016 ]
Less flashy than most, good reviews, clock was visable [ Steve  Jul 06, 2016 ]
I listen to my iPod/iPhone and maybe a thumb drive. I also plan to hookup Echo Dot with a karma wifi to this [ Marc  Jul 04, 2016 ]
It's a more modern head unit. For those that don't use CDs anymore and can just connect a mobile device or memory stick and be good to go. [ Nestor  Jun 12, 2016 ]
It seems like a good unit. I have no use for a cd player [ Daniel  May 31, 2016 ]
It had great reviews [ Jacob  May 19, 2016 ]
I wanted a quality digital receiver and really liked the features and price. [ Michael  May 15, 2016 ]
I always look for a car stereo with actual physical buttons to select my preset radio stations. I hate wading through a menu to choose preset number 5. I also liked that you can hold down the back button to dim the screen. My last Kenwood it took about 4 clicks and I had to spin the volume knob to dim the screen. [ SHAWN  May 11, 2016 ]
I've purchased a few of these now. Worlds better than the Kenwood. Menus are easy to navigate. The Kenwood is very confusing and glitchy. [ CHRIS  Apr 29, 2016 ]
Abe, recommended it to me. Abe's Bio: [ John  Apr 15, 2016 ]
This receiver is of a short chassis design, I have received a custom flush mount plate to compliment this receiver. This unit will not protrude from the dash. [ Greg  Apr 10, 2016 ]
    Rear USB [ Robert  Mar 18, 2016 ]
I like the USB and AUX inputs done as a long cable from the back. I can run them to 2 different places and it keeps my Ipod and/or phone out of site. It also eliminates a cable from always being attached to the front of the unit [ Tim  Feb 04, 2016 ]
Good features for the price [ Carl  Jan 17, 2016 ]
Front rear and sub line out and large display. I can hide the usb and aux in. Thank You Nancy [ Stephen  Dec 31, 2015 ]
It has all the features I want. [ Matthew  Dec 31, 2015 ]
great value to replace stock radio with all of the options that I was looking for [ Matthew  Dec 30, 2015 ]
I chose this head unit because it was very competitively priced, had Bluetooth, aux and hands free calling capability. This is the 2nd unit like this that I have ordered. The first is in my s10 and this is in my Dakota. I love this headunit. If I ever change, it will only be to possibly get a higher end pioneer unit. [ Caleb  Dec 19, 2015 ]
Similar appearance to the Clarion factory radio in "classic" SAAB 900 models [ JONATHAN  Dec 13, 2015 ]
Great advise from great Crutchfield advisors. [ Gary  Dec 09, 2015 ]
I chose this head unit because it had inputs in the rear. Also, you can't beat Pioneer products. Used for years and have never had issues unlike some other brands I've used. [ Devon  Dec 06, 2015 ]
This unit had the features I wanted. Principally B.T. Also it had great reviews. [ Jack  Dec 04, 2015 ]

I`m not sure Mike I haven`t been able to get it to pair with my I6 lately even though it did in the begining. On another note, I`m considering a 4 channel amp and new rear speakers for the car. I bought Polk Audio speakers for the front perhaps you have a record of them. Car is 69 Corvette convertible. Thx/bj [ Brian  Oct 04, 2016 ]
Yes I use my 7 with it and it works the same [ Terry  Oct 04, 2016 ]
You'll need an adaptor to use the aux cord. Otherwise you can use the USB input as always. [ Jeffrey  Oct 04, 2016 ]
Standard single DIN dimensions. As for depth it is about half that of the usual single DIN unit since there is no CD player built in. [ Shawn  Sep 21, 2016 ]
Sorry, I am not familiar with that file type... [ MICHAEL  Sep 06, 2016 ]
That is a question I cannot answer with confidence one way or another. I use the bluetooth for calls and music every once in a while, but more often connect with a cord. [ Scott  Jun 19, 2016 ]
Yes it can, but the drive has to be formatted FAT and I've never gotten it to work on one over 4GB so far. Files need to be mp3 wma or wav with no DRM present. Folder hierarchy maximum 8 tiers, with 500 folder and 15,000 file maximum. Only the first partition on a partitioned drive will play. [ Jeff  Feb 28, 2017 ]
Sorry, Anton, never tried it. Unless you like every song on your flash drive and the order in which they will play and do not anticipate "searching" for specific songs, you are better off using your smart phone for that purpose. [ MICHAEL  Jun 06, 2016 ]
Yes as long it format in windows media or mp3 [ Robin  Jun 06, 2016 ]
    yes [ Ricardo  Jun 01, 2016 ]
    yes [ Adrian  May 27, 2016 ]
Yes, the faceplate is detachable. However, it does not fold down. [ TYLER  May 27, 2016 ]
    Yes. It does. [ Harry  May 27, 2016 ]
Yes, it does detach and re-attach quite quickly and securely. [ GIAN  May 27, 2016 ]
Yes the faceplate is detachable. [ Michael  May 27, 2016 ]
Yes, it does detach [ jacob  May 27, 2016 ]
    Yes it does! [ TREY  May 27, 2016 ]
We offer a selection of Marine Covers you can use to provided added protection for the stereo. They will require a little additional space around the stereo mount for proper installation though: I hope that helps! My Bio: [ Ryan  May 20, 2016 ]  Staff
I don't use Apple products, but instead use a USB stick dedicated to the job. In that instance, you go into the menu, then System, Info Display, and choose Clock (by default it is SPEANA.) I'm pretty sure it'll behave the same way for other sources. [ EdFromOhio  May 17, 2016 ]
The picture is probably computer generated to show all the features because I wanted mine the same way and couldn't seem to get it there. Great deck though. I ended up leaving mine on demo so it cycles though all the colors [ miles  May 17, 2016 ]
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Kenny  Feb 22, 2016 ]  Staff
It connects very quickly, but sometimes takes a short amount of time to update the phone book, missed and dialed calls. Nothing a excessive though. I have also noticed that if I pause Pandora before I disconnect my phone, it's very quick when I reconnect the Bluetooth. Otherwise it's a bit slow but that could just be my phone, not the head unit [ TERRY  Feb 12, 2016 ]
    within a few seconds [ CURTICE  Feb 11, 2016 ]
For me, a couple of seconds at most. I've never had to manually connect it or wait for it to connect after starting the car. [ Damian  Feb 05, 2016 ]
I no longer have the radio. However. It never took longer than 15-20 seconds to reconnect. More importantly the mic quality (per my friends and family) was very poor. Maybe most aftermarket options will be this way. Stereo part worked great. I ended up getting a wired head-boom headset instead of using the Bluetooth. [ erik  Feb 05, 2016 ]
I never timed it, but once you pair your phone to it, it connects every time without problems when you get in your vehicle and start it up. I would say that within 30 seconds of starting up your vehicle it is connected. For some reason, SIRI and voice calls sound a little crackly at first, though. I don't know of that is particular to this unit. I do love this unit overall and would buy it again. [ Edward  Feb 05, 2016 ]
Almost instant. When connected to Bluetooth and I get out if the car it will reconnect about as fast as it takes to start the car. If I have Bluetooth off, it takes just a couple seconds once I turnmit back on. [ RANDALL H  Feb 05, 2016 ]
Ight away if your phone's Bluetooth is on. [ BRENT  Feb 05, 2016 ]
If you're using bluetooth then the answer is "either or." I do both. I have a couple playlists from GPM saved on my phone and I stream a few others depending on my mood. However if you don't want to use the bluetooth function of this player and want to use the usb function - then yes it does have to be in mp3 format in the file system of your phone (not sure about folder location etc) [ Neil  Jan 09, 2016 ]
I use spotify all the time with an Android device with no usb cable, but it doesn't hurt to charge it at same time. Youtube and amazon music all work as well. [ David  Jan 08, 2016 ]
Streaming services will all work [ Richard  Jan 08, 2016 ]
I Have used apps like Pandora or Slacker Radio while using the BT Audio portion. Obviously you have to have access to the apps via your data service, but it has always worked for me... [ MICHAEL  Jan 08, 2016 ]
Double click the home button on the phone and look for Pandora running. Swipe it up and off the screen to kill it. If it's running in the background, it will automatically come up first. [ JONATHAN  Jan 04, 2016 ]

Whatever music is playing on your phone, opens automatically. On mine, it's either my music or pandora. There is a separate output for the aux cable and a separate source for aux. [ Ashley  Aug 01, 2015 ]
Rodrigo, I just looked at the rear picture on the website. It IS that short in the back. CD/DVD forced that dimension. It's small. [ Greg  Jun 02, 2015 ]
Rodrigo, I'll do the best I can to answer your question... I bought this for a 2000 Corvette that I sold ~7 months ago. As far as the thickness of the faceplate, that is going to depend somewhat on the install kit for your application. That being said, it does not stick out any farther than any other radio I have installed in other of my vehicles using the recommended installation kits that I got from crutchfield with the unit. I can't see it being more than 3/8" to 1/2". Not extending mush past the install bezel. The install looked fine. In the Corvette, it did look aftermarket to a trained eye, but not bad. I was after the Bluetooth to connect to my android smartphone for phone calls AND music playback. One thing about this unit is not having a CD/DVD player is that is is very short (depth), very compact. I also used the USB port with a thumb drive for random jukebox use. I don't have the dimensions in front of me, but if you are concerned about depth issues, this thing is tiny. Maybe you thought the published dimensions were a typo. Without the need to have the function of CD/DVD made the unit surprisingly short front to back. What I remember is the distance is not much bigger than the with of a set of playing cards. The BT functions and playing the music on my phone was no issue. Look at the published dimensions, maybe they show the dim of the front from the mounted flush position. The extended distance should not more than 1/8" to 1/4". Full disclosure... I did have one and I don't work for crutchfield. Hope this helps... greg from ga [ Greg  Jun 02, 2015 ]
    Yes it does. [ CHRISTOPHER T  May 27, 2015 ]

Yes, with the capability to store 12 or more stations in memory. [ Steven  May 26, 2015 ]
I not happy with the pioneer MVH-X560BT because if u warm up ur car in the moring and get in the phone will not connect unless u turn off the car and restart it. Also it has too many options and if u hit the wrong button the volume won't work until u hit the back button. I have a iPhone I just want it to connect and play the radio the phone can do the rest!!?? [ WILLIAM S  Feb 25, 2015 ]
Bluetooth music streaming works great, however I have noticed that the phone has problems accepting the mic for this radio. My galaxy s3 worked flawlessly prior to getting my moto x. However, it might just be my setup, I haven't given it a factory reset since I got it to see if that fixes it. Other than that hiccup it's a great radio! Don't let the X's voice command hiccups (this isn't the only documented one) dissuade you from getting it! If you do use voice commands, just turn your music down ^_^ [ Neil  Feb 13, 2015 ]
I use it with an iphone6 and it works beautifully. There are a few very minor flaws in the programming on the head unit, but for the price it is well worth it. [ SEAN  Feb 13, 2015 ]
The manual makes no mention of Advanced Sound Retriever functionality on this unit, I've played with every single menu and setting extensively and have not come across it... [ Jeff  Feb 28, 2017 ]
We have not received any answers from other customers on your question. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question. [ Jeff  Feb 11, 2015 ]  Staff
Yeah they include it. The phone by Bluetooth never worked in my car. Bluetooth stopped working altogether last month. Had it about a year. Very disappointed in my purchase. Spend a little more and get a Kenwood. [ Vaughn  Feb 01, 2015 ]
Nope! Had to purchase an additional adaptor for my truck, but totally worth it. It was a super install, sounds great for both music and calls. Bluetooth connection is really easy too. [ Christopher  Jan 31, 2015 ]
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Krissy  Jan 31, 2015 ]  Staff
    Yes, I use a standard 6 [ Harold  Feb 08, 2015 ]
yea it should work with out any problems [ GARY  Feb 07, 2015 ]
Don't see why not. I'm running the latest os on my iPhone 4s. I can't see how an iPhone six would be any different. The phone can connect either by Bluetooth or a USB cord plugged into the back of the stereo during installation. [ WILLIAM  Jan 28, 2015 ]
    Yes [ Robert  Jan 28, 2015 ]
    Don't know ,I use droid [ JOSE  Jan 28, 2015 ]
I didn't have my iPhone 6 then (have sold the car), but it is Bluetooth compatible. Worked really well with Siri, music and phone calls. Made me feel I was driving in a new car. Enjoy! [ Richard  Jan 28, 2015 ]
Well, it'll connect to Bluetooth, or you can connect it to the headphone jacks [ REYNALDO  Jan 28, 2015 ]
I haven't been on the listening end, but I am told that my phone audio is loud and clear. I mounted the BT microphone on the driver's sun visor. I am happy with my BT microphone. I'm not sure about the USB splitter, no experience with that... [ Lawrence  Feb 03, 2015 ]
The mic is as good as the one I use for OnStar. A USB tee will not work. [ Mendel  Jan 25, 2015 ]
Yes this unit does change colors automatically if desired. You can also manually make it stay on a color or manually change colors . The auto feature is very cool I must admit! [ DWIGHT  Jan 21, 2015 ]
The unit changes colors continuously. You can also program to stay on a specific color if you want. [ MARK A  Jan 21, 2015 ]
Yes. It has a random setting that will just rotate thru all the colors. The screen and the buttons can be program separately so you can make one a solid color and the other rotate or any combination you choose [ Ben  Jan 21, 2015 ]
Both. You can choose for it to cascade through the colors, or manually choose a color. [ Sean  Jan 21, 2015 ]
Thumbs up only on phone. [ Scott  Jan 20, 2015 ]
Thumbs up and down work. It's the first two station buttons you can also change the station b [ Ashley  Jan 19, 2015 ]
You can use the station pre-set button on the head unit for thumb up/down. [ ALLEN  Jan 19, 2015 ]
Sounds like a phone issue. Never have experienced that. [ Scott  Jan 20, 2015 ]
If only one Blue tooth is on and in the car and paired, it should automatically pair to that phone. If it does not, it is not recognizing the device for some reason. [ ALLEN  Jan 19, 2015 ]
    I didnt hook my up with a sub [ erik  Feb 05, 2016 ]
Sorry, I only have factory speakers with this stereo. [ Tim  Dec 14, 2014 ]
Patrick, I have to change mine manually. It is the only down side of this unit that I have found. [ Mendel  Nov 18, 2014 ]
It does not provide dimming via external signal (wire). A underlooked feature in my opinion. Every unit should have dimming with the dash instruments. [ Greg  Nov 18, 2014 ]
Thanks for the reply, Ben! I did that on the head unit and was able to select which preset button I wanted for that contact. Awesome! [ John  Oct 28, 2014 ]
Click on the phone book icon and your telephones contact will open on the screen. Find the name you want to save. Press and hold the name and it will save it as a preset [ Ben  Oct 28, 2014 ]
Click on the phone book icon and your telephones contact will open on the screen. Find the name you want to save. Press and hold the name and it will save it as a preset [ Ben  Oct 28, 2014 ]
I have never tried to use siri but my guess would be no. The receiver supports music on your phone, pandora and your phone menu. There is no prompt for using siri. [ Ashley  Oct 24, 2014 ]
Yes. You just hold down the big button for a few seconds and siri starts. [ Patricia  Oct 24, 2014 ]
Yes, It will send all audio through bluetooth to the unit. It also uses the microphone that comes with it to record. Just hold down the large center button (or use the remote) to activate and speak in regular volume. I sometimes had problems that the Siri screen would still stay on the phone and it wouldn't resume my playback. I just pushed the center button again and it started playing my music again. [ Gwarf  Oct 24, 2014 ]
Yes, it works with Siri through the attached microphone. Unfortunately, there is a small delay and it seems Siri has a hard time understanding my commands through the microphone unless I'm yelling at the top of my lungs. I find myself using Siri through the phone directly instead. [ Steven  Oct 24, 2014 ]
    I don't use Siri, I have iphone 4 so I don't know. [ Tim  Oct 24, 2014 ]
I don't think this unit responds to Siri voice commands. It is a great radio in all respects. [ DWIGHT  Oct 24, 2014 ]
    Sorry, no idea. I use iPhone. [ William  Aug 30, 2014 ]
Not exactly sure what you mean by voice recognition. I have iphone 4 and the Bluetooth mic works great. Never had an issue with the mic or Bluetooth. [ Tim  Aug 30, 2014 ]
I have no Idea. I didn't even know there was a voice recognition feature. [ Ashley  Aug 30, 2014 ]
I have used it before (S3), but it was not too dependable. If I got it to work, then it worked, but that was only every so often. Maybe it's my device, however, so you may have better results since your phone is "newer" :) [ Brian  Aug 30, 2014 ]
sure - all phone controls are available for music regardless of the vendor (apple, android, windows phone) [ Brian  Jul 02, 2014 ]
Yes you can. I prefer using the phone to control the songs myself. [ Michael  Jul 01, 2014 ]
Yes I use my iphone to navigate playlists, skip songs, etc. Find it very simple. I use the stereo to quickly adjust volume. [ BETHANY  Jul 01, 2014 ]
Absolutely. I know what you are talking about. When the device goes in coma and only the receiver can control it. Luckily this is not the case here (except when using the pandora feature, which I never did just because that reason) the car stereo will basically work as a audio reciver for any sound from the iphone. You also have the convenience of play/pause/next ect. Or answering call or activating Siri (hold down the circle button). So all controls from your phone are atill the same. [ Gwarf  Jul 01, 2014 ]
Yes it is. Wether it's connected via bluetooth, usb or aux cable you can control the music playing with your phone. [ John  Jul 01, 2014 ]
It's 100 percent manually. I too thought it was annoying but the dimmest setting is just as easily visible during the day as it is at night. The brightest setting is extremely bright in the morning since I go to work at 3am. Hope this helps, John [ John  Jun 20, 2014 ]
I installed this over a year ago, but i want to say there was an illumination wire thats connected to control the dimming. As to the lighting settings, you can adjust each individual one, or there is a sort of master for "ALL" colors to be the same thing. That's what i did [ David  Jun 18, 2014 ]
Here's what I know: 1: there is not a connection to the vehicle lighting/dimming system. The harness adapter has one but there is no lead from the radio with a dimmer. 2. There is no ambient lighting sensor so all changes are manual 3. The good news is that the dimmer on/off finction is simply one button on the front of the radio and you simply hold it for a full second and it turns the dimmer on or off to your factory setting which is 3 levels BTW. In the beginning it was frustrating but many aftermarket systems don't use the factory dimmer especially the LED systems. FOr the price though it's not too bad and the rest of the unit is very good [ Tool Boy  Jun 18, 2014 ]
There is no auto sensor, but there is a button stand alone button on the screen to set it to the brightest in the evening so you don't have to go through the menu. There is also a "bolt-on" that you can purchase (I believe it was around $75) that could tie into your dash lighting. You must keep in mind the price point this unit is in. Hope this helps. [ THOMAS  Jun 18, 2014 ]
The unit does not respond to the dash light dimmer. However the unit allows you to set a day time brightness level and then there is a short cut to a night setting that is achieved by simply holding a button on the face of the unit. [ DILLON  Jun 18, 2014 ]
It is a manual adjusting dimmer. Even tells you with the manual it comes with. Only feature I don't like about it, but, still a damn good head unit. [ charliedb13  Jun 18, 2014 ]
    touch screen dvd [ Ron  Jun 18, 2014 ]
Sorry, can't tell you. I bought the unit for my friend as a birthday gift. [ R  Jun 18, 2014 ]
Yes the dimmer have to be manually selected by pressing the back key for about 2 secs. There is a brightness level setting too. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. [ ERNIE J  Jun 18, 2014 ]
This does not have a dimmer wire to hook to car, I do not know how it works, but you can turn dimmer on or off and adjust dimming amount. it must have an eye. I never hook up the dimmer anyway. Be aware this does not accept cd's [ Ron  Jun 18, 2014 ]
Unfortunately it only dims when you hold down the back button for about 2-3 seconds. [ Tyler  Jun 17, 2014 ]
sorry my answer was meant to be simplified but when I read it, it did not answer your question. in answer yes the unit connects to the instrument lighting when you do the wiring harness. it then dims the display when your lights come on. [ CHAD L. MCCANCE  Jun 17, 2014 ]
when you turn the headlights on the display dims, when you have the system set for dimming. [ CHAD L. MCCANCE  Jun 17, 2014 ]
It does not adjust the dimming based on when lights are turned on and off. It's a shame, because it really needs this feature. Other than that, I really love this head unit, especially for the price. [ Robbie  Jun 17, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: This unit will only power 4 speakers at 14 watts per channel. I have tried practically every combo and nothing. It is annoying but I have learned to live with it. Only solution I could think of it to make a shade for it but that would look horrible. So yea I am not particularly happy with this unit. [ JASON  May 21, 2014 ]
I use it to charge my iPhone 5 and it works fine as well as feeds music to the doesn't have enough juice to charge an iPad though [ Tool Boy  Jun 18, 2014 ]

Your regular iPhone cable will work. [ ALLEN  Feb 18, 2014 ]
The lightning cable you have will work, the Pioneer MVH-X560BT has a standard USB input on the back all you will need to do is plugin the included USB that comes with your Pioneer then you can plug your lightning cable in or a thumb drive and your ready to go. [ LISA  Feb 17, 2014 ]
The regular IPhone 5 lightning cable works just fine. It plugs into the provided USB cable that comes with the stereo. [ BETHANY  Feb 17, 2014 ]
The unit has a usb port so I think your current cable should work fine. Also you can connect thru bluetooth and go wireless. The bluetooth works awesome. [ Jeff  Feb 17, 2014 ]
the stereo just comes with a usb extension. so any usb cable will plug into it. you do not need the specific pioneer cable. of course the blue tooth works fine so I almost never actually hook my iphone up by cable. the good news is this usb port is made to charge the iphone [ CHAD L. MCCANCE  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Any cable should work, I use the one that came with my Iphone 5c and it works great, but i quickly quit using it unless i need to charge it, the Bluetooth streaming audio is beyond awesome!!! [ Daniel  Feb 17, 2014 ]
This head unit has a standard USB port in the back. It also comes with an extension USB cable which is about 3 feet long. So what ever cable you use to charge your iPhone 5 will connect directly to the USB port and allow you to control either your music or pandora through the head unit. [ Tyler  Feb 17, 2014 ]
If the USB works then it will work with the pioneer stereo. My phone is android and connect to the stereo with a remotely mounted USB connection. [ MIKE C  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Yes it works fine with the Apple factory cable. [ Tool Boy  Feb 17, 2014 ]
This pioneer unit comes with a USB jack in the back, the unit also come with an extension cable for that jack. The extension cable is USB male plug on one end and USB female plug on the opposite end. The cable allows you to hook up your USB iPhone lighting cable and store the phone in glove box. I have an iPhone 4, and the lighting cable for iPhone 4 works on the stereo. I would assume as long as your lighting cable is USB on one end and the iPhone 5 jack on the other end that it would work. [ Tim  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Your regular lightning cable will work fine. [ THOMAS  Feb 17, 2014 ]
I'm not sure what the iPhone 5 cable looks like but the deck comes with a standard USB cable. [ Ashley  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Your regular lightning cable will work. [ Daniel  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Your original cable will work just fine. [ NATHANIEL  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Your regular lighting cable will work. That's the one i use. [ ERNIE J  Feb 17, 2014 ]
Since it's a media receiver only it will only get songs from digital devices. So if you have the song info on the media file that's playing it will show the Title, Album and Artist. It also shows titles when playing local radio stations. If you play from apps on the iPhone you'll also see the same info that shows up on your iPhone's lock screen. [ Gwarf  Jan 30, 2014 ]
The unit will show what the files and folders are named. [ dave  Jan 24, 2014 ]
I use a USB flash drive and it displays the track number and song name. With an IPOD it shows track, song and artists. The FM tuner also show the radio station, song and artist. [ Richard  Jan 17, 2014 ]
Blue tooth off of my phone it shows song name. Also has phone book from phone. I really like the unit. I have two of them to put in farm tractors. [ TRIPLE C AG  Jan 17, 2014 ]
Yes it does have track info off of whatever you are playing. Tried I tunes, Amazon MP 3, Google music, and audible. All display track info. [ james  Jan 17, 2014 ]
This unit does exactly what you expect. I installed it because I was tired of not having bluetooth streaming from my iPhone 5 and for hands-free phone use. It does both without any problems. Installation was a snap, too, with the free install kit available from Crutchfield. Hope it works out for you! [ David  Dec 09, 2013 ]
Sorry, it's a XMAS gift. Not yet given. Looking for the same thing you are, so hope it works well. [ William  Dec 09, 2013 ]
I was looking for a head unit that only used digital media. While i'm an Android user, I understood these things had better compatibility with Apple products. I've only had a few days to use this unit but I have been very happy with it so far. The interface has been easy to understand and use. I can get artist/track/song title from Pandora and a few other apps, but I generally just leave it on Bluetooth. Plugging my phone or a USB drive via the USB port, the unit immediately switches over and starts playing songs. The quality of the sound, whether its across Bluetooth or USB, is about as good as its going to get without replacing my speakers. Very clear, very responsive. There is even a search feature for navigating your file structure, but I haven't used it much. Call quality is also top notch. The unit pulled my contacts the moment I synced with Bluetooth and will tell me who is calling, or answer automatically if I choose. I kept the microphone near the center of my dashboard and everyone says I still sound crystal clear. My only warning is that, my very first call's volume seemed to be set much higher than my music volume, and nearly crippled our eardrums. Watch out for that. Could have been my fault since I was up super late, but who knows. I would definitely recommend this item for your wife's needs. Its a pretty little head unit too. I changed the color scheme to match my dashboard, but it'll put on a whole light show, even take the media on your device and DJ it up for you, cutting out the space between songs, etc. [ William  Dec 09, 2013 ]
I installed in this weekend. So far I like it. My boyfriend is a tech geek, which is why I choose this one. I have a sub, amp, and new speakers all around in my car. It sounds great but it has a lot of features that I know I will not use. The con is that the USB and AUX ports are in the back of the unit so these cords have to ran somewhere. [ Ashley  Dec 09, 2013 ]
I've had the unit in my vehicle for only about a week now. But I like it. I own an iPhone 4, and this is the first aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth that I have owned and really like that option. The unit fit exactly into my 96 vw passat. The unit also come with and aux port on back as well as USB port on back. I think pioneer makes decent quality head units but I have had issues with pioneer speakers in the past. For the price, it seems like a good deal. [ Tim  Dec 09, 2013 ]
Just finished installing it yesterday. Unit is great, works well with the iphone, controls Siri well, the mic for hands free calling is really good, even in my miata with the top down. The sound / EQ controls are pretty good, I've got the unit dialed in and am getting a nice crisp sound with decent bass comming out of my 6.5 door speakers... [ CHRISTIAN  Dec 09, 2013 ]
Works great with my android phone. So I can only assume it would be just as good if not better with a apple device which the deck has many features built in for. Blue tooth audio quality is great I would definitely recommend it. [ MIKE  Dec 09, 2013 ]
