Bluetooth® and bling

Pioneer's DEH-X6500BT CD receiver will bring Bluetooth® convenience to your ride, plus a great-looking display jazzed up with the DJ-inspired MIXTRAX feature. This versatile receiver also offers iPod® controls and Pandora® Internet radio control with your iPhone®, giving you a great mix of style, form, and function.

The Bluetooth advantage

Bluetooth frees up your hands to let you concentrate on the drive. When your phone's paired with the receiver, you can answer a call with the push of a button on the receiver, and talk like your caller is sitting next to you. And this receiver supports Bluetooth audio streaming too — you can stream music wirelessly from compatible devices to the receiver, plus control basic functions like track up or down.

Pioneer DEH-X6500BT

MIXTRAX revs up the visuals

Pioneer's MIXTRAX feature adds a lightshow to your favorite playlists, as the bright multi-colored display of the DEH-X6500BT pulses in time with your music. And MIXTRAX fades in and out of each song just like a DJ would, adding special effects and keeping the musical energy high.

The legacy of great Pioneer sound

Car audio enthusiasts have always counted on Pioneer for excellent sound quality. The DEH-X6500BT carries on the tradition with a powerful built-in amp that puts most stock radios to shame. Along with that extra power, you'll enjoy a 5-band equalizer to adjust your tone, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever to perk up the sound quality of compressed music files, and a suite of other sophisticated sound controls. If you're looking to build a bigger system, you can connect amps and subs to the two pairs of preamp outputs to add some serious impact.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

It was good while it lasted

andrew from mattituck NY on 11/2/2014

This was a very good radio for the time, i would have recommended it to anyone, until the last few weeks it started giving me problems. It skips and freezes when i play CD's. it cuts out and when i went to just check the connections for the heck of it to make sure nothing was loose, i burned myself on the radio... it is now overheating and becomming unresponsive... this is surely strange ive never had problems like this from pioneer and i am planning to continue using pioneer but mabye i just got a bad unit. but honestly i would still recommend this if it wasnt discontinued. And to add on its only about 9 months old

    Factory Replacement

Bryan from Savannah, GA on 11/13/2013

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this radio in my wife's Honda Accord to replace the factory radio that quit working completely. Install was simple using the provided installation kit from Crutchfield. Sounds better than the factory radio, Bluetooth feature works great. Not as feature packed as I would like, but my wife loves the radio. Yesterday someone broke into her car and stole the radio, ripped it out of the dash. Now I'll be ordering the newer version 6600BT because this model is no longer available.

Pros: Improves sound compared to factory head unit. Color customization. Bluetooth works flawlessly.

    Cons:

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this product to replace the factory radio in a ten year old car. I really like the sound and the way the display changes colors. The controls are fairly easy to operate. I do not have a Bluetooth phone, so I cannot review that function. My only complaint is that the USB adapter sticks in the port, and is difficult to remove. You really have to hold the faceplate down, or it will come off.

    Pros: Great sound. Sporty display.

Cons: Difficult to remove USB adapter. Some buttons are very small. It is hard to see the function imprinting on the buttons.

THE VERY BEST Quality for a very CHEAP PRICE! Bought 4 new Kenwood speakers. Thanks Sparky! Your fine Company always has the answers! Great friendly personable expert advices & follow-thru way beyond any competetion! I saved almost $200.00 over another retalier!

Pros: Affords Me everything & more for a GREAT PRICE! BEST PRICE ! Used the very reasonable (cheap) Crutchfield install service card! Saved almost $ 200.

Cons: Buttons on bottom row are TOO SMALL for a man's fingers!

Good receiver for the price. Bluetooth works great for music and sound. Buttons on unit are small, but remote helps. Manual could be better for instructions, but this was a great replacement for an original (2001) Acura MDX radio

This isn't a bad head unit for the money. I would prefer something a bit more user friendly and way more adjustment. But seeing as this was a gift for someone, it works fine.

You won't be disappointed with this radio . Must have every bell and whistle under the sun . I gave it 4 stars on ease of use because it has more settings than I could actually use . Read the manual if your using it for 4 speakers, mine was per set for 2 and sub . Settings are when the radio is off to set it . I am using 2 amps , one for 4 speakers and a sub . The sound at max is better than my home system . A++++++ LOVE IT !!!!

This stereo far exceeded my expectations, especially in this price range. I now have many more options available for listening to music than I did before. The Bluetooth feature is very handy for listening to music from my iPhone while also being able to send and receive calls hands free. Also, the color-changing feature is pretty cool!

Pros: Everything about it is a "pro" as far as I'm concerned

Cons: Would have been nice if they included a case of some kind for the detachable faceplate, but that is just nitpicking on my part. I doubt that I will remove the faceplate very often anyway.

Nice radio for the price! All the features I wanted plus some! My kids dig the mixtrax light show, and I enjoy how much it brought my music to life. Cleaner crisper bass from sub, and hpf is nice so I don't destroy my components.

Pros: Sub control, hpf cutoff. Blue tooth, easy as pie to navigate and use.

Cons: Bluetooth doesn't always connect but simply open setting on my phone and resync in seconds.

Great, works perfectly in my 2000 mercury

Pros: Colors are adjustable and USB mode aux mode, and Bluetooth mode all come in handy

Cons: Could be a bit easier to use if it had larger buttons and easier to see lettering, the mix setting should finish the song before it mixes with another, and the pandora mode needs some work bc it won't let u change stations. One last thing is when u turn the key one click and the radio comes on but not the engine, then u start the car from that positioning it resets the radio to factory settings

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice car stereo. Installation was a bit of a challenge (2003 Honda Civic). Many of the brackets were not necessary and the included directions were not helpful. Eventually went on youtube to find out how to install. Stereo is easy to use - I was able to set up my iPhone to use with the stereo's Bluetooth in under a minute. My only complaint about the stereo is when I'm wearing my sunglasses, I cannot easily view what is on the screen. There are quite a few color options (which I don't care for) but none of them work well when I have sunglasses on. Buttons to change stations are also very small. Sound is what I expected. I'm sure this stereo would sound great with better speakers. Bottom line, price is great for the features this stereo offers. I'm going to buy this same stereo for my 2003 Toyota Sienna.

    Pros: Price and features.

Cons: Screen difficult to view with sunglasses on (not bright enough).

Made my old factory speakers sound great. A 1999 Jeep Cherokee has to be the easiest vehicle to replace a stereo in. Not sure why some find this unit difficult to learn/operate. Took about 15 minutes to install and 10 more to set up. Easy to dial in the sound I wanted. Picks up stations from other islands. Free shipping to Hawaii is great too.

Pros: Great sound, easy to use

    Cons: None

Directions were clear and concise. Took me maybe 45 minutes to remove the old radio, connect all the wire harnesses to the unit, plug harnesses into connectors in car, connect antenna, install unit and face plate. The unit meets all of my expectations and then some. The 18 preset stations are great as we have a second home and can fit all of our local stations from both areas. I can plug my Droid in via the USB port and control it from the panel. My wife found the remote to be very handy.

    Pros: Ease of installation

Cons: None that I can find.

Great sound at a good price. I replaced my factory stereo and kept my stock speakers and what a difference, it sounds so much better, I should have done this long ago. The blue tooth works great, now I can legally talk on the phone while driving. The biggest surprise was the MIXTRAX I didn't expect it to be this cool, you can make it have any color, or just let it cycle through all of them, (almost to many to pick from ) my favorite feature.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent receiver. I bought it mainly for the bluetooth functionality, and it pairs flawlessly with my iPod nano (7thGen). Installation was straightforward on my Tacoma, although I didn't see the rear wiring harness at first and had to redo the whole thing. Just pay attention and don't be dumb like me.

Pros: Bluetooth, display, colors, ease of use.

Cons: It is so damn bright. The dimmest color is 'orangered' and even at night it's a little distracting. My truck has a dimmer knob, although the wiring does not support this for the receiver. There is definitely a wire for this, so I hope you have more luck than me.

Awesome deal! 5 stars for Crutchfield.

Having not done this before, I wasn't sure of everything I may need (especially to keep steering wheel controls) but all the info was there and for a great price!! I was able to install the deck with confidence and ease.

This stereo looks amazing in my car! I love the way it looks and the ability you have to change the display colors! As far as sound goes, I still have stock speakers in my car, but just by adding this deck I can't believe how much the sound quality changed, not so much that I don't want new speakers, but enough that I'll be able to tolerate not having a higher quality system in my car. This system is extraordinary! Especially for the price! I would recommend this to anyone!

Overall, this is a very feature rich in-dash reciever. This is the first time I have replaced a head unit and it was suprissingly simple (for the most part). I like that you can change the radio and display color to whatever you want. Overall the radio met my expectations with a few exceptions: MIXTRAX worked horrible... the songs did not blend together remotely close Unit power output... the unit has more power output thatn the stock radio, but not by much. Not as loud and clear as I would like.

Pros: Looks cool, built-in-blutooth, ipod/iphone compatible

Cons: MIXTRAX doesn't work that great, small buttons, does have a learning curve

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install this unit in my daughters car with the help of a friend who is a mechanic. I agree with others review that the installation instructions needs to be more precise and thorough. Once I learned how remove the old radio sleeve and install it on the unit, things went smoothly. The installation in the car is not hard but does take prying and pulling to get the vents, the shifter console, and old unit out. The unit itself does have very VERY small buttons, but it's features and sound for the price really can not be beat. My mechanic friend and his buddies all like it so much they are thinking of getting a unit! Defiantly a nice upgrade, that is practical and makes driving safer and fun.

    Pros: Features for Dollars.

Cons: Really small buttons but that is minor.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The system sounds great and it's inexpensive. The fact that my 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid has the JBL amplifier and speakers does help. It is not the best sound especially in the high frequencies but for the money it is worth it. The only small issue is that when I get a text message on my Android Samsung, the Bluetooth streamed music from Pandora disconnects and instead of connecting back up automatically I have to restart the phone which is annoying. To be fair I am not sure if it's a phone issue. Nonetheless, I am happy with the purchase.

Pros: Economical, good sound, easy to use.

Cons: Phone needs rebooting when text message is received.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm no mechanic, nor am I a high tech type, but even I was able to install and use this cd/iPod/blue tooth stereo system, with help from the instructions and accessories that Crutchfield supplies. It is a huge improvement over the archaic 1995 stereo/cassette player that was standard for this vehicle in both features and sound quality. I'm really pleased with the look and functionality of the unit, and I saved a lot of money over buying a unit and having it installed by a shop.

Pros: I really like the options with blue tooth; music, hands free phone use, etc. Sound quality is much better than the factory unit I replaced.

Cons: I'm still learning how to access all the features and options. It's not as intuitive for me as it seems to be for my kids.

I can't believe all the positive Reviews On this radio. I hate this radio. The sound is good And it does everything they claim it will do... But it takes control of your phone, If listening to the radio And a phone call comes in After you hang up It might go back to the radio it might start playing playlist It might play Pandora it just dose what it wants. And as far as I know there's no way to change this. Oh and it won't come back on the same volume level. I've never tested the radio with a phone call because I use a headset. But I hate having a radio come on Sky high after I hang up the phone call. Oh and the buttons are too small to actually use while driving. Thank God it came with a remote. I didn't get it from Crutchfield so I'm stuck with it. I can't wait until it breaks like a replacement it.

Bought this radio on sale to replace a double din alpine. Nice features and iPod control Bluetooth is clear. My only complaint is buttons don't light up. Numbers above buttons do but pause and shuffle is in button. It does come with a remote but I use the stereo remote.

Pros: Cheap price very nice features and easy hook up

Cons: Only two sets of RCA output. Front and selectable rear. I am a big audio nut running multiple amps should have front, rear and subwoofer outputs.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2006 Subaru Legacy (manual climate controls, no amp) 1. Crutchfield instructions , for manual control do not remove the foot panel 2. Step 8 need more detail: I had to disconnect the hazard cables, Unscrew the hazard switch, after I took the head unit out. I also had to disconnect the climate control wires, before taking the climate controls out. 3. Antena- Some videos on tube might tell you to cut the antenna wire - DON'T Follow the antenna wire, and it will lead you to plug, which you can unplug. 4. KiT Assembly You only have the option of the DIN HEAD UNIT PROVISION ( page 3). ISO DIN HEAD UNIT PROVISION (Page 4)- DOES NOT WORK FOR this head unit 5. Take the trim plate of the head unit out, You will have to use the DIN Plate provided by the Trim . I am still debating this decision (it is very difficult to eject the face plate with the Kit provided Trim. 6. Mic installation. I installed it on the steering column next to parking lights. Steps: a. Take the screw out next to the Steering wheel adjustment lever. b. take out two screws( you wil see them after removing the bottom cover of steering panel) which hold the upper part of the steering column conver) c. run the cable

Pros: 1. Great Bluetooth Phone and Audio Streaming ( with Galaxy S3) 2. Amazing Sound 3 Great Radio

Cons: 1. Very small buttons at the bottom for tuner 2. Very small button to eject face plate. 3. No cover to store face plate

    2002 Saturn SL2
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to upgrade the old radio/cassette player in my Subaru Forester in order to have hands-free calling and to be able to listen to different audio sources. I thought I would give this system a try, and was so pleased with the ease of install, and the performance, that I bought the same system for my Saturn. The kits and install guides from Crutchfield were spot-on, and the swap out was rather painless. the only issues I had were removing the faceplate. If you don't remove it completely when you press the release, it can get in a weird state, whereby you can't get it out, and you can't get it back in. This is due to the way the left side slips into the recess. Be careful if removing it. I decided I never needed to remove it anyways, so it wasn't an issue for me. I like all the features and integration with iPhone, Samsung S3, etc. The hands-free calling has good audio quality and allows you to sync several phones to the unit, and setup 6 speed dials per phone. I didn't hook up any subwoofer or extra speakers, so I don't know how well that works.

Pros: Easy install. Flexible audio sources. Good phone quality and ability to save 6 speed dials. Also has ability to do autoanswer and integration with Siri or Svoice for voice activated dialing.

Cons: Faceplate removal/reattachment can be tricky. Presets and forward/backward buttons are small and the displays for the buttons are small as well, so if you have bad eyesight or fat fingers you may have some issues there.

BillB from Birmingham, AL on 6/18/2013

    2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The X6500BT install was pretty straightforward. My mechanical and electrical skills are average or maybe a bit above. I recommend studying the instructions for the receiver and install kit prior to the install. I took a bit of time before hand to test fit the receiver into the mounting kit and this prevented some mistakes. As I've never trusted aftermarket wire bugs (connectors), I soldered the two harnesses and used 3mm heat shrink for insulation on advice from Dolly at Crutchfield. That was spot on save the ground leads which involved three wires instead of two. Fortunately, I had some larger heat shrink stock for that one connection. After that, the install was pretty much plug and play. I do recommend double checking everything before the final insertion "push" as the assembly will not easily come out of the dash once fully inserted. The receiver itself worked as expected. The sound is comparable to the factory system, indicating that my speakers likely need attention at some point. The USB/IPOD function was as expected. I did note that the system failed to identify the ipod occasionally, but this seems related to the older ipod not "waking up" when the receiver is activated. I don't consider this a product defect, but just a behavior associated with technologies of different ages. By the way, to get 5 stars from me, a product has to do prepare breakfast and fold the laundry. The receiver does its job like any 4 star device should do.

Pros: Simple install. Simple controls. Works as advertised.

Cons: Display brightness at night is too high, even on dim setting. This is a design defect in my opinion. Pioneer should have given us more degrees of freedom setting brightness with lowest being "off". Optionally, a separate circuit to control lighting from the vehicle interior "dimmer" would be satisfactory. I find this to be consistent with other reviews on the receiver.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got this to replace my '02 Sonata radio. This thing is great. The sound quality is very good, MUCH better than the original. My Sonata has an amp and when I crank this guy up it sound very good to me. The old radio was not nearly as clean or loud. It was a fairly easy to install, had a minor issue with getting the radio to fit in the In-Dash kit. They do not tell you you need to remove the trim off the front of the radio and use the kit trim piece. In addition, it took my son and I both to squeeze the radio and In-Dash kit into the trim panel on the Sonata. VERY tight fit. This one was a little frustrating to put in. But now? It looks great and sounds great. I would highly recommend this radio if you are look for a decent replacement with BT/USB/Hands-Free. It even supports my iPad, both BT and USB. Sweet!

Pros: Bluetooth (EVERYTHING is better w/BT), Pandora, USB, sound quality, looks, feature set, hands free phone, works with all 4 of our phones (2 iPhones, 2 Droids) and my iPad.

Cons: Cannot dim the unit very much, as others have said it is a little bright at night.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Generally a very nice unit. I've been using it for about 2 weeks in a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with stock speakers. Decent sound quality, and plenty loud. Bluetooth phone works nicely, though there is significant background noise with the mic mounted in the head liner next to mirror. Even though much of the manual is dedicated to customizing the display, it falls short in the, well, display department. Unit doesn't tie in to car's dimmer circuit, so it stays too bright at night. In daytime, all colors are hard to see and polarized sunglasses render it invisible. The manual dimmer on/off control doesn't fix these issues. Android BT media control is limited to the stock music player's next/previous track and resume-play after phone call functions. It also lacks some features I'd like (rear USB), but you get what you pay for, I suppose. Sadly, neither the Crutchfield nor the HON-K09 receiver kit instruction sheet met my expectations. The Crutchfield instructions were also silent as to how to mount the bluetooth microphone. YouTube made the install possible.

Pros: - Decent sound, even with stock speakers - Full range of input options (Bluetooth, USB, 3.5mm aux) - Bluetooth phone works well

Cons: - Dim/unsynchronized display - Android BT support very limited - No rear USB - Controls somewhat confusing at first - Install instructions (2003 Civic Hybrid) required supplementation

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got this replacement head unit for my 2003 GTZ Galant with a factory installed Infinity sound system. The factory system had excellent sound, but I was looking for a unit that had Bluetooth and iPhone/iPod sound integration. This Pioneer unit had the features I was looking for and priced just right. The cable harness that came from Crutchfield made installation pretty simple. I did use the customer service just to clarify the amplifier power connection. Once installed, the sound was not as loud as the original Infinity system, but to the common ear, it sounds great. The added features trump the small loss in volume.

Pros: Bluetooth works great for both phone conversations and audio streaming. Pandora interaction via unit is excellent.

Cons: Audio not as load with factory installed AMP. Head unit a bit loose with original bracket.

What I love about this HU: Lots of custom colors to match my interior, Pre-amp outputs, front facing USB & audio jack, Bluetooth audio streaming, 5 band EQ, price. To be honest, I doubt if I'll ever use the disc player. Dislikes: Coming from previously owning a Eclipse CD4000, this to me is a major flaw in design - the illumination dimmer barely, and I mean BARELY, dims the radio. At night, its quite bright. Enough to be an issue t cause me to return the HU? No, I like the benefits of BT streaming more than I dislike the super-nova level of brightness. This seems to be a problem shared by many different brands in the same price range. The other dislike I have is that the front channel preset buttons feel super cheap and flimsy. We'll see what a few years of daily commuting will do and if they stand the test of time (the buttons on my old CD4000 lasted well over 7 years).

This unit is a great deal! Great sound quality, The bluetooth works great even with my outdated LG revolution.... The band EQ is nice. It make it a lot easier to tune for those of us are picky. The ONLY downfall as of now is the fact that there is no auto dimmer for the display. As anyone knows, Pioneer units are always very bright and the fact that it doesnt auto dim make it REALLY bright at night. Yes I know you can manually set the dim but thats one more thing to have to do. All in all i definatly would recomend this unit regardless of the dimming situation.

After much reading reading about different receivers and reviews i was considering a JVC head unit , when i spoke to a Crutchfield rep. he also mentioned the Pioneer X6500BT ,so chose this receiver and i am very happy with it. The Bluetooth and USB feature was a selling point, because i put all my ITunes music on a flash drive and leave it in the unit, no hooking up wires or turning on my IPod/IPhone. The Bluetooth works great, i made a CD with MP3 music to play in my motorcycle and tested it in the receiver, that work great too. The Mixtrax feature is cool but not important to me. I installed this unit in my 2005 Silverado with ease with the included dash kit and antenna adapter, i also got 50% off the price for the (CRUX) necessary module to keep the GM chimes.

Pros: USB, BLUETOOTH, SOUND QUALITY, SUB OUTPUT,

Cons: NO REAR USB, DISPLAY SOMETIMES GETS WASHED OUT IN DAYLIGHT DEPENDING ON COLOR, WISH DISPLAY WAS A LITTLE EASIER TO READ.

I love almost everything about this CD receiver. The sound is greatly improved over my factory system. Bluetooth integration with my Android phone is flawless. And the price cannot be beat. Especially since Crutchfield included everything needed for the install. My daughter loves leaving the display color set to scan so it scans through all the colors.

Pros: Great Bluetooth integration with Android. Great sound. Easy installation. Display color choices.

Cons: Some of the menus are a bit difficult at first, but after playing with it for a while they are easy. The manual from Pioneer could use a better wiring diagram, perhaps one in color or just a bit more logical than the diagram that was included. The way the receiver traverses the music on a USB stick is a bit odd, but is also easy once you get used to it.

Calls sound clear and I ran the mic up to the visor hiding the wire pretty easy. Mic is very clear. Pandora works great. Using iPhone 4 and iPod classic. The newer iPod would be better but I realized the phone is the easiest to control.

Pros: Features. Quality. Bluetooth very good. Works well w apple products.

Cons: The crazy display options. But you can turn that off and set to interior color. Trying to find music on old iPod is crazy and not worth it. Use iPhone or newer iPod.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The good on this product is that it has a cool factor with the display, the blue tooth works great and phone connection is very clear. I like that I can play my itunes thru streaming and don't have to connect my phone and I can even keep it in my pocket. It connects great with pandora and slacker and again can keep my phone in my pocket and if I was on anyone of the three listed earlier, it reconnects when I return to my car quickly and don't have to do anything except enjoy the music. Perhaps I need to tweek it a little but I find that i have to raise the volume almost all the way to get some good sound. The other issue is that I own a Nissan Xterra and apparently you need noise cancellation adaptors otherwise the system will pop as you turn it on or changes stations, etc. I was told this is common on Nissans. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time and sent with my initial purchase. However, tech support was very helpful and they sent that to me free the next day.

Pros: good radio, nice features blue tooth is fantastic

Cons: popping due to my vehicle apparently but corrected with help from tech support

Solid deck offering a tremendous amount for the money. Pioneer has managed to continued to produce feature rich decks that do not sacrifice quality.

Pros: 4 pre amp outs, silly amount of display colors, usb and aux inputs in front. BT compatibility seems universal as I was able to sync a wp7 nokia 900 and a BB Z10.

Cons: Only complaint is the ability to dim the display at night is limited to a single "dimmer" on and off option that leaves the display fairly bright at night.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a Pioneer 6400 for one of my vehicles, was very satisfied with it, and finally decided to upgrade 3 other non-bluetooth non-USB factory stereos to the newer Pioneer 6500, the 6400 spoiled me...I wanted the IPod and hands-free phone support. The sound is very good, even in my vehicles with lower end speakers, the setup and menus are fairly easy and in general, for the price, it would be hard to find a better unit. My only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars and not 5, is the brightness of the display at night! I read the review about a dim display in the daytime, which is also true, at least the text with the info you need to read. You can also separately adjust the intensity of the buttons and backlight on the surrounding panel, but you only have 'dimmer off' and 'dimmer on', and at night, with dimmer off, the brightness of that display is severely annoying....way too bright to not be distracting, no matter what color you choose...it's like you have a glaring flashlight shining from the dash, and as the lens in your eye reacts to this light by closing a bit, this is not something you want to happen when driving at night...it's almost like driving with sunglasses. Overall, still a good buy and is a features-rich unit, but not sure why anyone needs a floodlight in their dash. The 6400 has a much more subdued and pleasant level of light, not sure why Pioneer had to add more candlepower to the display in the newer unit.

Pros: Sound quality and controls over subwoofer audio

Cons: The display is too bright at night!!!!

I replaced my older Pioneer unit with this one for my '07 Ford F150. Boy, it is NIGHT and DAY!! This is a really nice unit, doesn't look cheap. I like the fact that you can customize the unit to your color preference. Sounds are amazing. The Bluetooth and Phone feature is amazing. Like that fact that once paired to your phone (I have Android Galaxy S III), you are able to control it with the units remote (a PLUS in my book). The only gripe I have with this unit is setting up the subwoofer. It might just be me and not understanding it as well. Overall, GREAT unit and for the price, you CAN'T beat it. I couldn't be happier.

Pros: Price, Easy Install, Easy to navigate and FEATURES!!

Cons: Setting of the custom EQ and figuring out the subwoofer part of it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This Pioneer is feature rich and well worth the price. I gave it 4 stars, but really wanted to give it 4.5. There is a lot of functionality in this unit, but you have to take a couple of hours to master the many different menus in order to take advantage of it. The audio adjustment features are extremely useful for tailoring your sound. Bluetooth is handy especially if you want to stream music from your iPad or phone. Speaking of phones, you can have the unit automatically link to your cell phone and enjoy hands-free use. It'll even automatically answer your phone for you, muting your music if you happen to be listening to it. The selection of display and button colors is nice if you want to match the lighting in your dash or with other components. It even has a custom mode, allowing one to set the RGB color levels independently, but I found it incapable to match the lighting in my equalizer.

Pros: Features for the money = great value. Sound quality is great. Audio tailoring options are plentiful. Bluetooth capability. Color choices for display and buttons.

Cons: Has one of the worst user manuals ever! The instructions are in no particular order. There are no major headings in the manual, so if you want to access a particular section, forget it. The other con is that they put the microphone jack in the rear of the unit. It would have been nice to have it up front so that the mic can be removed if desired.

Replace the stock deck in 04 Mazda MPV. Install took about 2 hours total. Had to call CS only once to confirm there would be extra couple of wires after fitting the harness. The plastic cage fits great but the instructions were a bit lacking on how to fit the deck onto the cage. This pioneer system is pretty good for the price. The speakers sound much better compared to the stock deck. BT Phone pairing is pretty quick, and USB port works as expected for mp3s. The mic sounded pretty clear when mounted on the steering (brought the wire up through the steering well). My main need was to get the BT Phone and USB features which were not there in the Mazda deck. Cructchfield CS is top notch, will definitely come back for future car audio needs!!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was a replacement in my Eclipse to a stock Rockford Fosgate head. The only thing I lost was the multi-disc changer. But what I gained far outweighed it. I had the unit professionally installed and was surprised to find that it came with a separate mike for the phone. That was a nice bonus. The unit itself looks exceptionally cool as it cycles through its colors. It sounds phenomenal as well. For the first time, I can actually hear the separation in my speakers and feel the bass. I'm unable to turn the volume up more than halfway without it being wayyyy too loud. The phone generally works fine and sounds great. Be aware that the mike is directional and designed for one user. I've had people tell me that it sounds like a speaker or that it sometimes cuts out. Generally however, the phone/bluetooth is a plus, especially since the unit sees it automatically and I don't have to sync up every time. Another great feature is the ability to play directly off a flashdrive. I can't seem to isolate a specific folder, however. It either plays through all of them or randomly through all of them. The Mixtrax only works through the USB port, not through the radio or CD. But it does look cool. Its set up for iPhones, not any other phone. It is a little dicey to program and a little confusing, and I'm pretty tech-savvy. But once you play around with it, you'll discover the nuances of the system. For the money, this is far more than I expected. And worth it.

Pros: *sounds great *looks great *phone easy to receive & dial calls *phone calls sound good

Cons: *CD player doesn't always identify track info even on commercial discs *Mixtrax only works through USB port *phone mike is very directional *unable to define individual MP3 folders to play randomly

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my second stereo from Crutchfield, so I have had experience installing head units. This one was no different. Took about 40 minutes total in my 03 dodge stratus coupe. Crutchfield's reputation is solid, and they answer calls quickly and help you for as long as you need if you get stuck. As far as the actual product, I like it. The bluetooth function works flawlessly and people have told me they can tell I was outside/in a car, but it was still clear and I didnt need to yell lol. Reviews have been complaining about the lights being too bright, and I can understand that if you use mixtrax and have it flashing random colors. Yes, then it will be too bright. But if you have the display set to one, constant color it's not distracting at all. One problem I have with this is I use a usb to play all my music. Out of the 300 songs, it seems only ~200 are actually being read and played. It just skips over the others. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what's going on, and I will update my review if I figure it out. One more minor convenience is that when using Mixtrax, I was completely certain I had the cutoff time set to "off " (meaning it would play songs all the way through instead of switching after a designated time) and it would still cut off before the end of the song. I also wish you could choose the flashing colors. Again, those are very minor complaints, & irrelevant if you don't plan on using a usb to play music or mixtrax. Everything else was great!

Pros: Bluetooth hands free, Easy to install, Looks great, Mixtrax is cool

Cons: I wish there were more options in mixtrax flash colors. Presets are are combo of either red/blue, orange/green, blue/white, and thats about it.

A whole lot of stereo for not a whole lot of money! I ordered this unit along with the Pioneer TS-A1305C component speaker system for my 2010 Toyota Tacoma regular cab, and what an approvement over the factory system. The factory radio actually wasn't all that bad, but the stock speakers were crap and I decided to just replace the whole system. I love having a USB port in addition to a 3.5mm jack. The difference in sound quality between them is night and day, and the USB port produces much better sound. If you want a head unit that really gives you what you pay for, this is it!

Pros: Built well, packed with features I would normally expect to pay much more for, and just looks cool. In some cases, iPod with USB seems to sound better than a CD, which is perfect because I mostly listen to my iPod. Even though I have found a few cons/flaws with this unit, I would buy it again to install in another vehicle and recommend it to my friends and family!

Cons: The Bluetooth works great and allows me to play music wirelessly from iPhone, but the system does not appear to have an external mic for talking to people on other line. I can hear the other person loud and clear through speakers, but they are unable to hear me. Color display very bright, but dimmer works well enough for me. As with most aftermarket head units, buttons are kind of small. Sometimes the settings (EQ, Bass, loudness, etc) can be a bit difficult to adjust.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just did my first after-market radio install with this unit, and I am already very impressed. Installation was a bit of a challenge at times until I figured out what I was doing. Crutchfield's tech support was also stellar, as I did have to call them to be informed of certain cosmetic elements of the unit to remove when attaching to the mounting kit. But I'm thoroughly impressed with this. Bluetooth pairing with my iPhone was a breeze and the sound quality is excellent, though it did seem to cut out occasionally for half a second. I'll have to look into that more, it could be an error on my end. Bluetooth calling is excellent as well and I was able to keep the microphone pretty discreet. I would definitely recommend this system.

Pros: Relatively easy install even for first timers, great sound quality, easy Bluetooth pairing, hands free calling.

Cons: Bluetooth seems to cut out occasionally when streaming music from iPhone.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT is remarkable, due of its capabilities. I purchased it for that reason. While there is a learning curve (although not steep), once you are familiar with its basic functions, and learn which buttons to push, and in what sequence, the rest is "intuitively obvious." It has provided me with the flexibility the factory installed radio/CD in my car couldn't even dream of, I highly recommend this unit to others.

Pros: Wide selection of features in such a compact unit. (Half the size of the factory installed radio it replaced.)

Cons: The face plate that came with the adapter kit does not fit properly. I wish it did. I could not use it. But since it doesn't affect the operation of the unit, nor take away from the attractiveness of the unit, it's not a real problem.

This upgraded an old Pioneer unit that worked well, except for a skipping CD player. The new 6500BT was relatively easy to install, wiring wasn't a problem- A major problem is the face light- even on the dimmest setting it overpowers all other lights inside the car. This is a serious design flaw in my opinion- the face light should be fully adjustable from bright to dark. As I am long past being a teen, 'Coolness' is no longer of interest- good quality and usability of a product IS what gets my attention (and my dollars).

Pros: Good sound quality- relatively easy to install- instructions are adequate-

Cons: Major: face light WAY too bright- even on dimmest setting. Instructions could be more clearly written- particularly wiring diagrams and Blue Tooth set up and operations.

This CD/Radio with Bluetooth and USB has been very enjoyable to use. The Instruction manual, however, is terrible. There isn't even an index to find various subjects when you have problems, such as how to pair a Bluetooth phone. You have to scan through page after page to find what you're looking for. Also, the buttons are quite small, so it's best to use the remote control if you can. Finally, the display gets easiiy washed out in bright day-time conditions so you can't read the display information. At night, the displau and buttons do not dim with the car's inside lights dimming switch; you have to dim it separately.

This radio is so much better than the stock radio that went to the electronic junk pile. The sound has a lot of options to customize to suit anyone's taste in music. The Bluetooth is great to have. You can sync you cellphone to the radio, than make hands free calls. I am a novice to electronics', but the installation was very easy. I also learned how to silver solder. I would recommend this radio/CD player. Also, the Clutchfield service techs are great!

Pros: Cost, ease of installation, good sound quality, Bluetooth, Colorful Illumination

Cons: The radio instructions could have been written better.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought the Pioneer DEH-X6500BT to replace the factor radio in our 2007 Fit Base. Options we wanted were USB and Bluetooth. For the price this unit was perfect. I did not replace the factor speakers, but the sound is so much better I don't think I will. On normal volume level I can shake the mirrors. One big problem with the factory radio was I would lose my favorite FM channels as I get closer to Syracuse; this unit picks up the all the channels all the way to work and back. Installation was easy; I did purchase the adapters and new face plate for the Honda Fit. This is the second system I have purchased from Crutchfield. I will never buy from the local "Installation" shop again. I paid them much $$$ to install a Pioneer head unit with Klips speakers in a 91 pickup. It never did sound right, when I took it back they told me "it was a pickup truck what did I expect." For more $$$ they could make it sound better. 10 years later when I sold the truck I went to take the speakers out and found they were cheap speakers and not the speakers I purchased. The information provided by Crutchfield allows you to install the products with ease. I have never had to call for help but it is nice to know it is there if you need it. Save the money and do it yourself.

Pros: Sound quality, ease of installation, and options.

Cons: Color on Keys is too bright, and color on Display is too lite. If they would reverse the brightness it would be perfect.

This is a great stereo for the price. I bought it for the Bluetooth and Ipod connections. It is very versatile with many ways to set it up. I also wanted a unit that had at least 2 sets of preamp outputs. This has one set for the front and a second set for the rear or for subwoofers, very ease to hook up the amp. I would have given this unit 5 stars except for one flaw. There is no way to dim the front buttons and screen. There is a dimmer but it only has two settings - On and Off. With the dimmer On, the unit is still too bright at night. I had to find a front color that was not too bright, so far I think that either red or dark blue to be the least annoying at night.

Pros: just I need it more driving time to enjoy my PIONNER UNIT

Fantastic radio! It just...works. The bluetooth is easy to set up and works great with both phone and streaming audio. It sounds great! Slightly cumbersome to set audio tones and what not, but once it's set up, you're good! The only thing I can say I don't like about it is that it is BRIGHT at night. There is no wire to hook to your dimmer. It does have a manual dimmer, but it doesn't do much. I've found most Pioneers are this way though. Buy it! You'll be happy! Best Bang for your Buck, in my opinion!

Pros: Works great, easy set up!

Cons: It's BRIGHT at night...a bit distracting while driving. The dimmer only works marginally.

When I decided to replace my factory stereo in my Grand Am,I checked out Crutchfield's site and narrowed my choices to the Pioneer and the Alpine CDE-143BT.After going back and forth for a couple of weeks,I decided on the Pioneer, mainly because of the larger display and variable illumination.I'm glad I made the right choice.I have an entry level Alpine in my work car,so I know how clean they sound, but I wished they had a nicer display. The Pioneer sounds pretty awesome itself, pushing Polk 6 1/2s and 6x9s.The bluetooth works flawlessly.Callers say I sound like I'm on a house phone, and the receiver never fails to automatically pair with my Iphone.Bluetooth streaming is also perfect, whether playing songs from my music folder or Pandora. The display is kinda bright, but blue seems to be a little less so.I don't play cds very often, but i do wish the headunit had a pause button on it,instead of having to use the remote.Overall, this is a near perfect stereo.I highly recommend it.

    Pros: Large display,awesome bluetooth,variable illumination,looks great.

Cons: Bright display, could have included a case for the faceplate.

Installed this in my '06 Pontiac Vibe. Installation took a little longer than I would have like but it is my fault because I like to solder and heat shrink everything. The bracket and antenna adapter worked fine with no difficulty installing. Considering I have factory speakers, I was impressed with the sound and how I was able to use the EQ to tweak it a to my liking. I would recommend this to a friend without hesitation.

Pros: -Great feature set for the price -Great sound -Using it for hands free, everyone says it sounds like I am using the phone

Cons: - Bluetooth sometimes gets confused (may be my Droid4 though). Doesn't always start playing after I hang up - Display is challenging to read during the day and lights up the whole car at night even with the dimmer on (strictly an on/off setting) - Reception is about 60- 70% of what I got with the factory radio and my backup camera makes it even worse (did not have an impact on the factory radio) -Buttons for presets are small and very challenging to read for bluetooth functions

My first time to install a stereo on my own Camry 1997. I had used an after-market Kenwood for nearly 16 years on this car, and now decided to use Pioneer for a change. I like the bluetooth; it works well with my iPhone 4S; the external microphone sounds great from the other person on the phone! I have the microphone right below the stereo unit; The voice of the other person is quite clear on the speakers (16 year old speakers; original ones that came with the car). I have no problem figuring out all the features (audio, system, illumination, etc); the sound quality is very good.

    Pros: see above

Cons: at night, the color can be quite bright; "Red" can keep it dimmer, but other colors can be so bright. The dimming feature does not help much at all.

The USB port on the front also makes it easy to listen to the Ipod a breeze. The sound quality and power over the stock stereo is amazing. Navigating through the numerous menus for set up is the only thing that could use improvement, but overall this was a great buy and easy to install.

Installed in a '96 Chev Tahoe- was a gift I love it Installation was a breeze and relatively quick, but there's great tech support if there are any issues from what I've read. I never bothered with the manual, I just played with it for a while until I got controls down. Bluetooth works flawlessly with Blackberry, during phone calls and Pandora radio streaming on the phone. Quality of sound and bass are great. I can see how the lights can bother people, and I do agree they should dim more or simply have an off setting. But you can dim it slightly, customize the colors, stop if from blinking or changing colors on it's own, or the lights can flash to the sound. I just set it to dark green and it doesn't bother me at all, even at night.

Pros: Bluetooth, Sound Quality, Radio, USB, Aux,

Cons: Lighting - Doesn't bother me, but I'd like the option to turn it off or at least dim is more (not a deal breaker for me)

I replaced my factory unit with this Pioneer stereo. After reading some of the reviews, I had some trepidation about purchasing this unit due to the "bright" display. I'll preface this review by saying this is my first aftermarket stereo I have purchased in 30 years. I did not find the display lighting to be problematic at all. Maybe it is b/c the unit sits at a lower angle in my Del Sol. The Bluetooth options and phone options was just what I was looking for in an unit. Although I fault Pioneer for their lack of good information in their owner's manual on setup operations (plus the font size in the manual must be a 7), I found I could easily traverse the options and learn it on my own in a short amount of time. Overall, I am impressed with the clarity, h/m/l, and the Bluetooth options it offers. BTW, pairing to my IPhone 5 was incredibly easy!!!

I bought this unit after a lot of research to replace the factory unit in my 2003 Accord. I was a little concerned about some of the negative reviews on the display brightness, but that is a non-issue. The unit looks very good and I love the option to change the colors or make it perfectly match the existing dash lighting in my car. The install was easy thanks to the Crutchfield instructions. After just a little playing with and minimal owners manual reading I was able to figure out the menus and how to operate the unit. It is NOT complicated and with a little common sense you can utilize all the features easily. I am very happy with the sound of this stereo. It has many options to tailor the sound to your listening preferences. I am amazed at how music files sound on a USB drive. You can also tweak and store settings for each of your sources (CD, thumb drive, radio, etc.). One of my other concerns was how the bluetooth would perform. This is one of the unexpected best things I like about this unit. The microphone picks up perfectly and callers all say they cannot tell I am not talking directly into my phone. We have all tried to carry on a conversation with a bluetoother with a bad system and it sounds terrible. This unit works flawlessly. Syncs up as soon as I get into car, answers calls automatically if I'm listening to music or not and hangs up automatically. Pandora and iPod controls from the head unit are phenomenal as well. Couldn't be happier!

Pros: Sound quality, bluetooth performance, multiple sources for music, common sense controls and menu buttons, looks great!

Cons: My daughter keeps wanting to change the color to pink. So many sources of great music now but only so much time to drive!

Pros: A lot of settings, a five band EQ makes it nice. The Bluetooth is clear and connects soon as you get in the car. If your listening to the radio, cd, iPod anything calls will come though so you'll never miss a call with this head unit. Pandora works flawless! I haven't used a cd in days because of this feature. All controls are on the head unit like skip, change station to seeing what song is playing across the unit. Bluetooth streaming is just as clear as your iPhone connected.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the 4th Pioneer receiver I put in a personal vehicle and I've been recommending them to family and friends for ten years. I'm typically pretty happy with them, and this is no exception. This went into an older Toyota Tacoma that's an all-purpose commuting/weekend hauling truck for me. Compared to the stock headset, this is fantastic. Sound is great, even through bluetooth! Easy to install, thanks to Crutchfield's typical way of sending exactly the parts you need for installation. Now, the drawbacks, and they're a little more than minor for me. The biggest drawback is that the bluetooth sends a "play" signal to your phone when it connects. For my Android phone, this means it starts playing something the instant you get in your car. It might be the last voicemail you got, it might be the last music you were listening to. It's majorly annoying and there doesn't seem to be a way to shut that off. I found an app for my phone that intercepts that signal and quashes it, but it's not great and this is the major drawback to this unit. I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but it's the biggest flaw of the unit. The second issue that many others have raised is the brightness. It's true, it's a little too bright. There is a dim setting, but it's not quite dim enough. If only the unit plugged into the factory dimmer, all would be perfect. As a replacement receiver, for the price, this is a fantastic unit. But Pioneer kind of missed perfection with the bluetooth and brightness.

Pros: Sound quality, installation, ease of use

    Cons: Bluetooth behavior, brightness.

I put this receiver in my Father's truck. He passed away 2 years ago. I kept the truck and have restored it. This is one of the items I installed in it. I have 3 Range Rovers and an Audi, and I wish I had this receiver in all of them! It is much Better than the factory ones!!!!!! I Love it so much that I bought a second one to put in a Kubota cab tractor at my hunting camp! Instillation was easy, even in the tractor! Terriffic sound and options. I Highly recommend it!!!

Great unit especially for the money. The BT Audio works great. The BT mic is not great. I have it mounted in the factory location in an e46 BMW. Lots of road noise, most people can't hear me when driving. Other than that everything works great. Easy to use, simple navigation. Great unit for the money.

Pros: Simple, seamless iphone integration through the cord or BT.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a decent budget stereo with some design flaws. My main complaint is the scroll speed of the display info such as album and song titles. I'm guessing it's the refresh rate and scroll speed combination that make this impossible to read in the day light. Even at night I can't see what it's saying unless I'm parked and watch it scroll half a dozen times to figure it out. I have searched through the manual and can't find a way to change this display scroll speed. One other issue I have is that the tuner isn't nearly as loud as the CD or USB/AUX inputs. If I'm listening to the radio and have it turned up loud and switch to another input, I almost get my ears blasted off. I'm of the understanding that most car stereos are like this, so I can't complain too much.

Pros: Great sound quality and feels like high build quality.

Cons: Limited dimming functionality, tiny buttons, and display info scrolls too fast to read.

I installed this unit in my 2008 hhr. I love the bluetooth features. For the price of this unit compared to what it all does- this is a home run for Pioneer. Did have a couple of issues when installing the unit but Crutchfield was quick to find solutions to my problems. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants to go hands free and to have the bluetooth streaming and ipod features this unit has!!

Pros: Well built unit - great product - lots of features for a great price

Cons: Display can still be a lttle bit dimmer after turning on the dimming feature. Did go thru the wide array of colors to find a dimmer selection. You will get use to it after a little while.

First order from Crutchfield. I must say that I was very impressed with Crutchfield and the product. My only complaint with this unit is the dimmer option. While I must admit I took the risk even after reading previous reviews, The dimmer option could be a little more adjustable for night driving. The wiring harness into the radio was also a cheap tri-colored wires which made me pause for about a minute, but all in all a great radio. The install for this unit took 45 min.

    Pros: Great all around

Cons: Dimmer option is not that great. I just selected a darker "illumination" which makes it not as bad. Just throw the owners manual away cause it wont be worth your time

Squirrel!! oh yea and of course you can plug in anything into the front, cuz there is a aux plug and a USB plug. And its not 300$ like some other units wuth bluetooth and all the other goodies. woohoo Love this unit!!

    Good Stereo - Bluetooth Great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So after doing some research on Sony vs. Pioneer I settled on the Pioneer. I really only use my stereo for the bluetooth streaming, so I can't really comment too much on the cd or radio as I have not used them too much. The radio does come thru clear and displays the name of the station, that's about all I can comment on that. As far as the Bluetooth is concerned, it is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something that would reconnect automatically as soon as I turned on the car without me having to press any button or change sources. It does that exactly, if I turn off the car while streaming my phone stops playing, when I get back in the car as long as I have not restarted my phone the music starts playing automatically. The external mic seems to work great, I have not received any complaints about the quality from the other end of the call which I did with a Sony unit without an external mic a few years back. Cons: That being said, what people have said about the brightness is true IMHO. The dim setting is pretty much a joke. If you use any of the bright colors or leave it on random your interior is gonna look like a disco at night to anyone driving by you. This is not a big deal for me, I put it on dark blue or red and it's not that distracting. Another con are the really small buttons, and I hate the placement of the skip forward and back buttons, would prefer to see them around the volume control knob. But really for the price and the bluetooth, IT IS GREAT

Pros: Bluetooth perfect, connects automatically, starts playing music automatically as long as phone has not reset since you were last in the car. CHEAP. The included kit was great did not have to buy anything else for it. Crutchfield tech support was great as well, they helped me out with soldering the wiring on the harness.

Cons: Small buttons, super bright display on anything but red or dark blue, dim is a joke.

First time I've purchased audio equipment from Crutchfield and it was a great choice. Their tech support is great and installation package that they provide made the install incredibly easy. It took about 20 minutes to get it in my truck and another 20 or so to wire up the harness and harness adaptor. The unit itself is great. Sounds very good paired with Kenwood KFC-C6894PS 6x8" 3-way speakers. Set up is not too difficult and Bluetooth pairing with my iPhone 4 was a snap - sound is great as well. Much improved over the stock system. Was surprised a bit that Crutchfield's price on this Pioneer unit was as good as anything else I saw on the web and unlike Best Buy and others the installation kit was free. Also found Crutchfield's website much more helpful that anything else I saw in terms of being able to refine a search and find what fits the specified vehicle. I'm a fan!

Pros: Appearance, sound, value, ease of installation

Cons: If I had to pick on something I'd say that the buttons are a little small for my big hands and setup takes a bit of exploring to figure out - not at all bad though.

While there are more robust systems available for the audiophile.....for a person wanting to upgrade from an OEM radio, this system is a can't miss. I bought this because I wanted something inexpensive with bluetooth. The bluetooth works easily flawlessly on my iphone, streaming pandora or subsonic easy, using it for speakerphone sounds great. it has all of the input and output options I could need, and the display has enough options to match any car interior. It looks good and has a normal turn knob for volume. I will be using this again in my other car with a more involved amp setup (the pre-outs and control is there). There are plenty of equalizer and bass settings.

Pros: -works great, sounds good -plenty of input and output options -easy trouble free bluetooth -looks good, customizable color. Can be set to plain old solid color, no light show.

Cons: -limited power output but has amp pre-outs so perhaps non-issue. Drives two pairs of 50W speakers just fine.

I wanted to have handsfree calling and texting in my car and I went to Crutchfield for the solution. I was givien this stereo as a recommendation for my iPhone 5. It was a little complicated to hook up in my Nissan Maxima but the guys at Crutchfield solve my problem within a few minutes. The bluetooth connectivity is great, the microphone is clear, so clear that it actually enhances iPhone's Sirii functions. I have enjoyed using all the features; bluetooth audio connect automatically, the usb/ipod feature works flawlessly, pandora is amazing. With the iPhone 4s, all the usb/ipod features work, some do not work with iPhone 5. Both my wife and I have iPhones, and we get in and out of the care and the stereo just pairs with the last phone that was connected, if it is the other one, you just have to take a second to pair the other phone. I was on a conversation on my iPhone and then entered the car, started it and it automatically started coming through the car speakers without any interruption. The stereo itself has improved the quality of sound in my bose system. I was so impressed, I ordered another one for my Jeep and it even enhanced my Jeeps sound even more.

Pros: The clarity of the microphone. The bluetooth connectivity for handsfree calling. The options for music; bluetooth, mini plug, usb, and pandora. Everything works good.

Cons: iPhone 5 support is good, but is not fully functional with the receiver control when connected via usb. But that is not really a problem since you can just control it from the app from the iPhone itself, such as Audible, pandora, and music.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replacing the stock stereo with a non-working CD player, I decided to go with this unit for the features. I love the bluetooth to make phone calls and stream Pandora. The ipod front USB is cool too. However, looking back I think I would prefer a rear USB. It is also very confusing to use my iPOd as it looks for albums. It is difficult to find a song. And I am not going to be using the remote while driving. The Mixtrax seems useless unless you are into rap.I also replaced factory speakers with Pioneer 4- ways. The sound is AMAZING for the dollars I have total in the whole setup. It is clear and plenty loud. The only thing I don't like and I REALLY don't like is that the volume knob is also the menu selector when pushed in. It is very sensitive. About 90% of the time when I go to turn the volume down, it goes to menu. Even worse when I am wearing gloves. Overall my friends and I are all impressed with what I have for the money. The ability to change display colors is cool too. The EQ setup takes a while to get tuned in as well. One CD may sound great while another may need a whole new EQ setting. I agree with the other reviews on the dimmer. But overall I can't complain one bit. It did what I wanted. It replaced a factory system in an 11 year old car. The Install kit is cool with a place for my ipod and/or phone to lay in.

Pros: Sound quality, Bluetooth, USB, Display.

Cons: Volume knob which is also menu button is too sensitive. Dimmer not very well thought out.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's been over ten yrs since I looked at head units and did a install. Installed this on my wife's 05" 4runner. Fairly easy install. I just took my time with the wiring. Google 4runner radio install and you can find a video on panel removal. Head unit is nice. Great upgrade with Bluetooth (my main reason purchase). The head unit was fairly easy to get started on though I didn't read the manual. So far I've been pleased. There's no dimmer hook up for my particular vehicle. Blue tooth works fairly well. But it seems that the speaker volume goes down or its just the voice isn't as loud as the music. Bluetooth sometimes drop when I'm using Siri inbetween the music. I prefer using pandora over Bluetooth and controling it on my phone. I mounted the mic on the steering wheel. I was imagining something I can install indash. The free single din enclosure is looks good. Fit is good but not excellent. Free wiring harness works well. Overall I'm pleased. I was looking at stand alone Bluetooth devices but found out through my bro in law that head units are doing this. So under 50$ more I got a new head unit with Bluetooth and I can wirelessly play my music. A great gift that I can benefit from too at a good price.

Pros: Compared to stock: Better sound Nice upgrade with modern features Bluetooth works well Compatible with iphone5 Easily tethers between Bluetooth pandora and call. Plays pandora

Cons: Dropped Bluetooth when I'm using Siri inbetween music playing. Not sure why. Doesn't drop during calls. Call must be answered by pressing phone icon to receive a call on Bluetooth. Picking up a call through the phone defaults to the phone. Mic for Bluetooth is somewhat an eyesore.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We have found this to be an excellent device. After self-installation, with the wiring being the only difficult part, we have had a great experience with this receiver in our Ford Escape. We most often use the BlueTooth audio streaming from our iPhones, and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the BlueTooth calling feature of this stereo with its included microphone. We've also found that hooking up our iPhones via USB cable works well, though it's sometimes confusing as to where you control your audio playback using the various interfaces (via the stereo when using BlueTooth, but via the phone when using the USB cable). The menu system isn't particularly intuitive right off, but is not too difficult to understand once you read the manual. Overall, we have been very pleased with this device, and would definitely recommend it.

Pros: Many audio input options, each of which work well. Great features for the price.

Cons: Menu system is not super intuitive.

If you listen to different types of music with a subwoofer, this isn't

    Chris from Minnesota on 11/12/2012

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 12" sub in a small sealed enclosure. I listen to everything from Metal to Rap and depending on the music, I may have to adjust the stereos sub output +/- to obtain the right level of bass. This is very inconvenience and unsafe while driving because you have to go through about 6 functions to get to the sub-woofer level and you have to look at the stereo face to do so. I'm used to an Alpine layout where they have the ergonomics to keep it simple and this only takes one press of a button and use the volume knob to rotate +/- to adjust the sub-woofer levels as needed. This keeps your eyes on the road and the sound levels appropriate. The display doesn't fade down to an acceptable level for me and it lights up the interior with an IN YOUR FACE night club. (not my style) And this is adjusted to a single color so it doesn't dance around with the Mixtrax feature. That got old in about 3 minutes for me. The sound quality sounded great, crystal clear highs and the lows popped with authority. I ended up returning the Pioneer and went back with Alpine (CDE-135BT) Alpine has kept their ergonomics and this fits the bill nicely for me.

    Pros: great sound quality

Cons: sub menu to adjust the output is a bit unsafe to adjust while driving, too many steps for a quick on the fly adjustment, display is annoyingly bright.

I think this unit is pretty good overall. It has all the features I was looking for, but I need to give it a rating of 3 because of the menu system and manual.

Pros: Colors to match your dash lights Sounds great Looks nice

Cons: DIMMER! What is it? What does it do? How do you operate it? Found two menu options to turn it on or off - nothing seems to happen! I realize it does not have a dimmer wire to control by the vehicle dimmer. Key lights too bright for night driving! Crutchfield support was unable to answer. Tried Pioneer and waited on line for 1 minutes before hanging up. Menu system is not intuitive Manual is disjointed - follows no logical pattern of presented information - printed in micro print

Good head unit. I bought this specifically for the bluetooth connectivity. The aftermarket wired iPhone connector started to fail on my older Pioneer head unit. Instead of paying $40+ for another wire that would probably fail too, I spent relatively a little more and got an updated head unit that doesnt need wires. Voila! The native music app and also Pandora work flawlessly at the head unit and through the phone, although if there are more features than just fwd and rwd controlled through the head-unit, I cant find them. However, It does the job well! If I wanted bells and whistles, I would have payed more. I dont listen to the radio, so wireless connectivity was all I wanted and needed. I havent popped in an mp3 CD, because I dont need to, I have my iPhone however, the users manual says you have access to subfolders, say if you plugged in a thumbdrive with music on it, pretty cool feature. I havent installed the microphone yet for the BT hands-free calling. Sorry that I cant review that.

Pros: Great price! The display can be changed to hlep match your existing dash color lighting. Many allowable formats to play your digital media; mp3 CD, thumbdrive, stream from your phone via bluetooth. Many more features I havent even played with yet.

Cons: Interface is not difficult to use however is not intuitive either. The internal dimmer sensor doesnt seem to work that great, or I am missing how to operate it - my old Pioneer unit had a specific wire for dimming the brightness however the connector for this unit is minus this wire. Cant search through your phone playlists on the head unit - If there is a way, it is NOT intuitive.

This Pioneer deck is an excellent value. It has MANY features that I only saw in much higher priced decks.. It was easy to install and fairly easy to use. It does take some getting use to as far as changing things in the menu and it is not something you want to do while driving down the road by any means. But the sound quality and features are very nice.. The manual is kinda poor. Small print and not well written...

Pros: Lots of features. Still exploring them all. Nice lighting options. Bluetooth, and many other awesome features. Sub control and HPF control is easy to use..

Cons: Needs a dimmer that works better. It's eather on or off. The outside or "key colors" are very bright at night.. There are softer colors to choose from but they may not be the color you want. It's not really a terrible thing, Just a little distracting at night. Menu can be difficult to travel through if driving. If you want to do simple things like turn down the bass or adjust the fader, you will want to pull over and be safe... But the menu is easy to navigate if you are focused on it...

Easy to install and sounds great, even with no-name speakers. One problem, and it wasn't the stereos' fault. I did a custom install in a 72 Camaro just using 2 6x9's in the rear deck. I installed it using the rear speaker wires and adjusted the fader all the way to the rear. Everything worked awesome except I had no audio during a phone call. They could hear me but I could not hear them. Called Crutchfield Tech Support. The phone audio is on the FRONT SPEAKERS ONLY. There was no mention of this in the manual. So if you are like me and trying to do a 2 speaker install, use the front speaker wires, not the rear! Like another user here mentioned, the manual is horrible. Teeny tiny print and no logical sequence on how to do things. I had to download the PDF and print it out on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

This is my first Bluetooth receiver and I couldn't be more pleased. Installation was quick and easy. I chose to mount microphone to the right of my sun visor and those who I have called said it is actually clearer than my cellphone normally is. The AM/FM function is a little better than my OEM Ford receiver. I have not used the CD or Auxiliary input yet. Primary use will be Bluetooth streaming of Pandora and iHeartRadio which so far has been flawless. If you have a smartphone, this is a must have upgrade. Even though the item description talks about iPhone capability, it works perfectly fine with my Android powered Motorola. A cool feature is being able to program in favorite phone numbers like a radio preset. Very pleased with this product, but I wish the face-plate wasn't so shiny, the glare makes it quite difficult to read in daytime driving conditions.

Pros: Bluetooth streaming & phone works great.

Cons: Display is difficult to see in daylight due to glare from shiny face-plate.

Unfortunately I could not purchase this from crutchfield, as they were out of stock. But I got this deck from a local dealer and was very surprised at the ease of installation and quality. Not to mention it has everything I wanted: detachable face, color variations, bluetooth, streaming, usb and front auxillory. I installed this on a 2006 Grand Prix to replace a stock radio. I did not buy the adapter to use my steering wheel controls as I could care less since pioneer has a remote with it. Stereo sounds awesome with 2 10'' sony xplods which were free from a friend. Going to change them out with Infinity's very soon. All other speakers are stock at the moment but will also be changed with aftermarkets. Overall this stereo is the only deck to get if you want all things listed included! Jvc was a close 2nd.

Pros: 1. Bluetooth 2. Streaming from Android (pandora) 3. Detachable Face 4. Color variations 5. 2 channels out 6. Super Tuner 7. Easy menus which makes navigation easier

I haven't had much time to get to know this unit much yet but so far so good. Bluetooth works great, both for audio streaming and phone calls. Radio tuner works well, and cd player is fine. Haven't tested mp3 disc functionality yet, and haven't yet figured out how the mixtrax features work yet. The feature is enabled but haven't yet seen it work. Not much to say really about this unit other than I'm happy with it so far. The screen is decent, about what you would expect in this price range. A little tip, if you have trouble detaching the faceplate, you have to slightly lift up on the right bottom corner when removing or else it will seem "stuck."

Pros: Nice features, bluetooth calling and streaming is great, variable button and display color provides alot of variety and opportunity to match with car color scheme.

Cons: No way to decrease brightness of illumination that I know of, kind of bright in my car. Would like to have phone signal strength meter on the radio display but not included on this unit. Button layout of cd/audio controls in preset buttons 1-9 isn't marked so you have to kind of figure it out or maybe read the manual.

For the first time ever I feel like I got more than I paid for. This unit not only did everything it was touted to do, but it did things that I didn't think it would based on the description. Just so everyone knows, you do not need an iPhone or iPod to interface with this unit. I have a Sony Walkman mp3 player with Bluetooth and it worked flawlessly both via the bt connection as well as fully functional with USB hookup. My Samsung galaxy s2 synced perfectly as well and allowed control for pandora via the Bluetooth. The phone book integration is flwless also and call quality is great. Call comes in, music stops, call is ended, music picks up right where it left off. It is absolutely everything I was looking for but didn't think I could get since im not an apple guy. The bazillion different colors is awesome too if you're like me and have an odd interior illumination color to match up. Added this to my factory speakers and got a sound I didn't think was possible. Then I added the sound ordnance powered 8" sub from crutchfield and wow. Subwoofer controls on the radio is a nice bonus. Throw in crutchfields free delivery (2 days), all the free install gear, and the master instruction sheet that was specific to my vehicle, and I couldn't be more pleased. Took about 3 hrs start to finish and that's wiring in the sub and everything. I simply can't say enough, but I will shut up now!

Pros: What more could you want from a car stereo, especially for the price?

When a registered Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be registered to this head unit. Only one device can be used at a time.

Hands-Free Communication: The DEH-X6500BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/HSP/OPP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The DEH-X6500BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the DEH-X6500BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Speed (Preset) Dialing: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.

External Microphone: During your wireless phone call, you can talk into the head unit's included external microphone, and listen to the other party through the vehicle's speaker system. The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of many aftermarket or factory radios. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. The microphone measures 0.475" (diameter) x 1.445" (depth). The unit is not equipped with an integrated microphone.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. The DEH-X6500BT will be able to control basic playback features; Play, Pause, & Skip Tracks (app must also support). The head unit will also display your  music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (app must also support). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

Voice Recognition for iPhone: The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT also supports voice recognition for a Bluetooth-connected iPhone. When in Bluetooth mode, simply press-and-hold the head unit's 3-way rotary dial to activate the voice recognition function. MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-X6500BT is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

    AM/FM + Pandora Internet Radio

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Pandora App: The free Pandora App lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-X6500BT using your connected Apple iPhone, via the Pioneer CD-IU51 iPod connector cable (sold separately) or the USB/iPod dock cable that came with your iPhone. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone 2G/3G/3GS (iOS 3.0+),  iPhone 4 (iOS 4.0+), iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0+), or iPhone 5 (iOS 6.0+) with the latest version of the Pandora Radio application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account. The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT will provide control over the Pandora music service and display Artist/Album/Song information.

    • Station List: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z).
    • QuickMix: QuickMix allows you to listen to songs played on one or more Pandora stations in your Station List randomly. You will need to edit your QuickMix station selections on the iPhone before connection.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.
Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X6500BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-X6500BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB device, iPod/iPhone, and portable media players. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band parametric EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

Bass Boost The DEH-X6500BT features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.

Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

4ch/2V Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT features two pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs. The unit's rear preamp outputs can be configured as fading rear-channel outputs or a non-fading subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level control.

Subwoofer Control: When the head unit's preamp output is configured as a subwoofer output, you can select the frequency of the low pass filter (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125 Hz), select the filter slope (-6/-12dB), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

High-Pass Crossover: When you don't want low-frequency sound to be heard through your front or rear speakers, you can simply active the head unit's HPF (high pass filter). By activating the HPF, only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers. The high pass filter crossover can be set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160hz, 200Hz or Off. The slope level of the HPF can also be adjusted to -6dB or 12dB.

Switchable Rear Channel/Subwoofer Speaker Output: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X6500BT in-dash CD receiver features Detachable Face Security. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music. You can also choose which area's of the head unit's face illuminates; select Display, Keys, Both or Off.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On/Off within the menu.
