Pioneer DEH-X6600BT

The versatile DEH-X6600BT has built-in Bluetooth.

Siri Eyes Free, too

Got an iPhone® with Siri? Pioneer's DEH-X6600BT CD receiver supports Siri Eyes Free, which means you can ask Siri to make calls, select and play music, compose and hear text messages, read notifications, even use maps and get directions — all commanded by your voice through your Pioneer receiver. It's not only convenient, it can make your drive safer and more productive.

Plenty of media options

Once your iPhone's connected to the front-panel USB input, you'll be able to access your playlists with the Pioneer's controls. And you'll also enjoy control over your favorite Pandora® stations from the receiver. You can use the USB input to tap into the music files stored on many Android devices, while the front aux input handles just about any other audio source.

Turn on the color

The DEH-X6600BT CD receiver spans the color spectrum with a multi-color, dual-zone display that lets you choose from thousands of colors for the display and controls — you can even choose different colors for each. MIXTRAX adds to the fun by adding transitions between songs along with a light show that pulses and changes color with the beat of the music. It's like driving with your own DJ.

Tailor the sound

Pioneer's potent MOSFET amplifier delivers plenty of power, while the 5-band EQ lets you tweak the sound as much as you want. Two pairs of preamp outputs make it easier to add external amplifiers or a powered sub.

    2002 Ford F-150
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced Stock radio in 2002 Ford F-150 with unit from Crutchfield I also purchased this same unit from another vendor for a 2001 Ford Focus (before I knew about Crutchfield), major sound improvement over stock in both vehicles also love the Bluetooth phone, only issue I had was finding a good place for microphone in the truck I had to move it closer to the driver for people to hear, the focus (I am assuming because of smaller interior) sounded great.

    Pros: Great Sound, Bluetooth

Cons: None other than needing to play with getting the microphone in correct place in the truck

    2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really wanted to like this unit since it had all of the features I needed, Bluetooth, phone services, CD, USB interface, etc. I installed it in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with no problems. the instructions were very adequate and the provided interface cables worked in classic dependable Crutchfield manner. It worked perfectly for a few months then things just started going haywire as follows. - When pressing buttons on the faceplate, the unit would simply power off and back on for no reason, still does it periodically. I reseated the faceplate to no avail, major pain. - The steering wheel control function is 50/50, not sure of the is the dash unit or the interface module to the steering controls to be fair. The problem continues today. - Recently when plugged into the USB interface I get a read error, continues today. - Intermittently cannot get connectivity to my iphone, although it shows no error on the phone menu, and pairing is ok, continues today. It's too bad but I will have to replace the unit due to the problems.

    Pros: Easy install, nice features

Cons: Too many problems developed over time

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this in my Sprinter van, big improvement over stock, especially when paired with Polk 6.5 speakers (need adapter to install 6.5s in door of Sprinter) Really nice system for long drives that gives us many options to listen to (USB Flashdrive, CD, Radio, Bluetooth, Pandora) Just make sure if you are installing in Sprinter to get the correct harness adapter. I ordered the wrong one, my mistake, however Crutchfield's excellent customer service helped me get the right stuff fast

Pros: price, sound, lots of features, BT works well with Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Cons: a little bit of a learning curve trying to get it setup, but not too bad

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit in a motorhome, so there was no to identify a make or year to determine needed hook ups. But this is why you buy from Crutchfield; A rep advised me on the exact unit to meet my needs and a tech gave me exact size measurements and a wiring diagram for the Pioneer. I am not tech smart and still have not programed all of the possibilities on the Pioneer, but the sound is great.

Pros: Seems to be well made, sound is good, and Crutchfield gives the necessary support for installation.

Cons: I find programing the radio difficult and the instructions are just plain bad. Received better instructions from the internet.

    Great Unit For The Price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the pioneer to replace my factory radio which was suffering some CD issues. I couldn't be more pleased with the value of this product. The sound is awesome, and the unit is super easy to learn. My only issue is the phone button is TOO bright at night. I ended up covering the button with a small piece of electrical tape. The short 20 minutes it took me to solder the wiring harness adapter to the stereo wiring was long in comparison to the 10 minutes it took to install the stereo in the dash. Crutchfield makes everything easy!!!

Pros: Using the custom color function I was able to perfectly match the dash light color of my truck.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great unit, upgrading the receiver really made a difference in the sound quality from my existing speakers. Love that you can set the color to match your dash - amber looks perfect with my '04 Mini Cooper. Lower buttons are nearly impossible to read (no glow and tiny symbols), only thing preventing a perfect 5 stars

Pros: Good Looking, solid, works well

Cons: Lower buttons along the bottom are nearly impossible to read (no glow and tiny symbols)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We purchased this H.U. for my son. He wanted a stereo that played C.D.'s and had Bluetooth capabilities. This one meets and exceeds all he wanted in a H.U. My only complaint is that it's always never a quick jump to get to the E.Q. Settings. They are always buried in a sub menu rather than being more easily accessible by a single button to access E.Q. Settings. But, this is common with most Head Units these days. Just an FYI to stereo manufactures a tone or sound button to access the E.Q. would be a nice touch, even @ this price range, and the front panel has enough real estate for a single additional button. The sound quality is great and the feature list is quite impressive for a stereo in this price range.

Pros: Good sound, Nice list of useful features including Bluetooth.

    Cons: None

    2007 Dodge Dakota
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this in my 2007 Dakota QC. The installation was a little tricky, as I had never done one of these before.. so on a few occasions, I either called, or emailed Crutchfield with questions. The biggest issue I had, was getting the cell phone to work on the receive side. I could transmit through the microphone fine, but could not hear anything. Fortunately for me, Crutchfield has a great tech support group that was more than happy to help out (which is a rarity these days!). After re-wiring the RP4--> Pioneer connections, the cell phone started working both ways. Otherwise, I was able to pair my Android - HTC One without issue. I haven't had to mess with the EQ settings, as everything sounds pretty stout right out of the box. Be advised, those of you who are using this type of car stereo (non-stock) for the 1st time, there are a lot of settings/options. Give yourself a month for tweaking or changes to suit your taste. I'm not saying you won't like those options, because in the long run, I'm glad I had those options.

Pros: Sounds great Phone calls are crystal clear. All the USB thumb drives work fine so far (about 5 installed to this point). Bluetooth has worked flawlessly. Crutchfield tech support.

Cons: The Pioneer installation guide was lacking. Mixtrax was not my cup 'o tea. The aftermarket antenna does not pick up stations like my stock antenna, but it's not a biggie for me.

    Love it!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The installation was very easy. Needed to call Crutchfield twice due to the remote steering interface wiring. Superior service. Installed it into a Jeep Comander. Easy out with the old unit per the instructions and easy in. All you have to do is match the colors on the wires.

Pros: Easy installation and with the help from Crutchfield of even easier. Sounds good. The button are good. Bought this for my 16 year daughter with the intent to have minimal distraction from the radio menu. It meets this criteria well. She love the whole deal. I agree with her. Nice product

Cons: the hands free phone mike is weak in sound pickup and sound quality. The radio menu is so so. The pioneer manual is poor.

Auldbkr from Eastern CT on 8/28/2014

USB port never worked. The USB port was a major selling point for me. Crutchfield help desk suggested the USB device I was attempting to use was either too big or faulty. Tried 3 other smaller capacity ones, same result. The thought of removing the unit I just installed, packing it up, shipping it back didn't thrill me so I just kept it. The adjustments are not simple for use while driving. Ex. If you bump the sound volume button while driving and don't realize it right away you will be changing anything but the volume.

Pros: Sound quality is ok, certainly not superior to other good brands, but ok. Easy to install. This is the third unit I have purchased from Crutchfield. The installation and help desk are great.

Cons: AM and FM receivers are marginal. The signal needs to be really strong or close by.

I have always felt comfortable to buy from Crutchfield, because, prior to buying an electronic devise, like anybody, I too have a ton of questions...And the team at Crutchfield has the technical skills to be able to answer them, making it easier for decide on the product.Besides the technical support team is always there to help us out even while setting the devise.

Pros: The Pioneer that I bought has a a lot of built in features that helped me. Its worth the money for the price that we pay....Bluetooth enabled with android compatibility which means, I can stream music from my android devise through the Pioneer and to my JBL speakers.

Cons: The Pioneer is excellent and i am very happy with the devise.I would have been happy if Crutchfield had DIY videos to help us in the wiring of the devise with my old sienna

Overall my wife is very pleased with this in her car.

Cons: I don't have one in my car yet.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My purchase was for blue tooth and it is working very well. But don't care for the tiny animated displays & small buttons. All manufactures and units are similar as they all compete, but non-seem to be thinking "out-side of the box"...

Pros: The Blue Tooth - A must for anybody with a cell phone and makes calls while driving! It should be illegal everywhere to hold a cell phone to your head while driving.

Cons: The face plate should be made to withstand hi-heat conditions. Also the faceplates could have the one-Din foot print but also could be half inch thick and a larger display, and larger button area to the screen doesn't have scroll info while you are trying to read it while driving.

    1993 Chevrolet Suburban
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not a bad unit for what I needed it for. I installed it in my 1993 Suburban for road trips out of town for camping, hiking, etc. I easily connected my Galaxy S4 via bluetooth, and it does a great job of streaming music that way. I haven't yet used the aux or Pandora apps, but they are standardized. The radio reception was pretty good. I can't comment on the sound quality much- the speakers are original except for some cheap Kicker 4x6 on the dash to replace failed originals. The sound quality was fine, but there is little to no low end frm my speaker setup right now.

Pros: Inexpensive, does hands-free calling, streams music viz Bluetooth. Great value if you don't want or need GPS or video.

Cons: It lacks features of more high-end units, but again, it's cheap. Some of the menus can be difficult to figure out, like sound balance and display options, but a little patience and I had it figured out.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I upgraded from the stock stereo in my 2005 Subaru Outback and noticed a HUGE improvement in sound quality. The stock stereo was really terrible. This head unit added a much more powerful amplifier and versatile connectivity. It easily doubled the sound quality out of the stock speakers. While the user interface has a bit of a learning curve and isn't always as easy to use as I would like, you get used to it over time. The custom LED colors allow you to match the rest of your dash lights for a more stock appearance, which is a nice touch. The handsfree calling is hit or miss. Sometimes the person on the other end complains that my voice is very quiet and they can barely hear me. I mounted the mic on the steering column so it is pretty direct. I think the issue may be with my phone software or bluetooth. There are plenty of EQ options and ways to get more bass response. The bass booster function works well, but the Loudness setting seems to cause too much distortion through the stock speakers. I'm sure it would provide a much better punch with aftermarket speakers. Overall this is a great value Crutchfield included the wiring harness and mounting hardware, which matches the dash perfectly. Very happy with this purchase!

Pros: Good sound, LED customization, bluetooth connectivity, plenty of EQ settings, amazing value

Cons: User interface takes getting used to, Handsfree calling doesn't always work well, Display can be difficult to read when it is really sunny even with the brightness turned up

I purchased this primarily for the blue tooth feature. It is excellent the remote mic makes the sound quality just as good as talking on the cell phone. The ability to talk hands free using SIRI is great. What I didn't expect was the great sound quality including the super low bass feature. The only negative I find is the display brightness is hard to see on a sunny day.

Pros: Great sound. Excellent blue tooth and streaming audio.

I bought my wife and I receivers for both of our vehicles because I wanted to be able stream our music collections thru bluetooth. She has an android and I use apple products, Crutchfield made the research easy to make sure both phones would work and after driving to florida this unit worked flawlessly. My only complaint was really an assumption I made about the color changing display, i figured i could pick my color but it simply rolls thru all available colors which can make it hard to see in daylight.

Pros: Price, well made, install kits worked perfectly and they were free!

Cons: Rolling color display(not selectable) difficult to see display during the day for half the colors(reds)

My android phone uses the Jelly Bean OS and this deck recognizes it via the USB port, but it literally takes 20 minutes of reading the SD card before anything else happens. You cannot do another task with the deck during this time otherwise it starts over. Every time power is cut to the deck and reconnected, like turning the key from on to accessory, it has to re read the phone again. That 20 minutes really gets aggravating after the first time. I also am not overly pleased with the preset equalizer profiles. They are good, but I have heard better profiles from other decks. Overall, it's a pretty decent deck other than having to read your phone every single time it is connected or turned on.

picked this up with a four speaker deal for 200. install was a breeze with the Crutchfield gear, even had speaker wires, so no cutting wires there. the deck does what I need it to, which is play my usb drives. sounds good, thumps pretty good to me when I crank it. buttons could be a little bigger. Glare is a serious problem but it seems most decks are like this. color display is cool at night and when it's cloudy.

Main issue (but you learn to compensate) is that the menus/interface isn't great - but it's useable as is once you learn how to deal. Color thing is a bit lame, need to turn that off (which I can).

    2006 Nissan Xterra
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace the factory non-Rockford Fosgate system in my 2006 Xterra. The factory system was nothing more than a single disk with no features. I really wanted to be able to do 2 things; listen to my iPhone (5s) and make/receive calls. Setup and use was super simple, so was install. Connecting iPhone over USB cable auto configures/pairs it for Bluetooth use. BT Audio works perfectly with mic routed up to the pillar where it meets the visor. The audio quality was much better than factory even for the radio, but BT Audio was even more excellent than expected. Calls are also very clear and no detectable road noise on the other side from reports of others. I'm a few weeks in and everything is working perfectly. There are a few small issues, but really just nit picking. First, I don't know why aftermarket companies use such glossy screens. Glare is pretty bad and dust shows up and sticks with static. Second, the colors, while tunable don't match well with factory amber. Amber too is a bit hard to read, so I just stuck with white which isn't too bad. Last, the vehicle specific kit for the Xterra sits too far back and looks very "aftermarket", more so than I would like. It isn't terrible, but Metra needs to engineer a better kit for the Xterra. Still these are minor annoyances and I wouldn't let them drop my rating from a solid 5 out of 5. Would highly recommend.

Pros: Excellent features, tremendous value, easy setup, Bluetooth for iPhone and audio is perfect, Siri integration is perfect

Cons: Glossy screen gets dusty and high glare, dash kit for Xterra looks cheap/aftermarket

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Main reason for getting a deck is the sound and this rocks. Sound is great over Bluetooth, even better if you connect with a cable, Pandora app with the iPhone is awesome (this is it's best feature IMO). Huge upgrade over stock deck for sure Whoever decided to putting a glassy mirror smooth finish should be fired. You cannot see the screen at all if there is tiny bit of sunlight. If you have sunglasses on forget about it, you can't see a thing. If it's cloudy or night no problem. This is the decks worst attribute There is a learning curve to use this thing and you have to read the manual to figure out how to use a few features, in this day and age things should be intuitive and easy to figure out. Once you learn a few tricks its OK to use though it's tough to do many things while driving Pairing Bluetooth is quick, much better than a Kenwood deck we have in another car. The hands free works but the person on the other end cannot hear you well if you are driving. To switch the call to your handset takes some skill/practice and you shouldn't do it while driving. Bluetooth audio takes some learning, playing songs on your iPhone or the Pandora app takes a little figuring out (it always wants to play Pandora by default), if you have another audio app you have to stop Pandora then fire up the other. Annoying if you stop the engine, then you have Pandora pop up again. If you like Pandora to use like I do this is not a problem

    Pros: Sound, Bluetooth

Cons: Glossy finish in sunlight is impossible, should be easier to use and more intuitive

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgrading an old Volvo wagon that had an aftermarket (but already ancient) head unit. These days I use USB or Bluetooth almost exclusively, and the radio once in a while. I tested the Bluetooth calling and audio streaming on Pandora with my Android phone (LG/Google Nexus 4) - it pairs easily and sounds great. It also reads USB drives much faster than the JVC in my other car, which is a huge benefit for larger drives. The display can easily be set to whatever colors go with your lighting. My only gripes are that the EQ is kind of hard to use - none of the factory settings sound quite right to me and I couldn't get anything I really liked out of the custom setting either. Of course, since it's a Volvo, I only have 5.25" speakers, so that might be the limiting factor (a subwoofer is probably in the future). The JVC in the other car has a parametric equalizer, which works a lot better. It also occasionally plays tracks in MP3 folders out of order. Seems like it should play them in the track order it reads from the tag - it does for some albums, but not others (again, it works fine on the other car). But overall, the USB functionality works really well.

Pros: Great USB and Bluetooth connectivity Good-looking, customizable display

Cons: Mediocre EQ Minor USB/MP3 glitches

The radio replaced the stock radio in a chevy 2001 Silverado. Installation was very easy, took less than 1 hour. The installation kit and wire harness provided by Crutchfield made things very straight forward. I recommend soldering the wire from the car stereo wire harness to the new harness provided by Crutchfield. If not soldering make a good crimp connection. The last radio I did a few years ago I used wire nuts and eventually there was one speaker that lost power every so often. As others have stated they display is difficult to see in bright sun but I find it is still visible enough to be seen. Using the dial to control various aspects of the radio takes a day or two to get used to. I have had other Pioneers systems and was already familiar with how it worked. Blue tooth works great with Samsung galaxy 3 phone. After it connects the first time there's nothing else to do it reconnects as soon as you get in and turn the radio on. Microphone wire is plenty long enough to allow for hidden installation.

Pros: Great radio for the price, Lots of features. Lights are cool with lots of color choices.

After reading all the reviews on the internet I bought this unit. The hardest part was soldering the adaptor to fit my car. 96 Ford T-bird. I listen to Rock, Metal, Jazz, Motown and Classical. My system has no amp and 4 new pioneer 2 way speakers. As always Crutchfield supplied everything you need. The sound for a 14 watt RMS unit is very good. I don't have a problem with not being able to see the display- even with sunglasses on. I found everything to be easy to use and intuitive. I did however, read the instructions for 2 nights before the install so I had familiarized myself with all aspects of the unit. The head unit itself is not powerful enough to provide "thump" but I find it to be more than adequate to provide realistic highs, mids and lows. I am sure with an amp and sub you could achieve thump if that is what you desire. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better overall system for the money. I was all in at $215 for the unit and 4 speakers and that is a lot of bang for your buck. The phone and microphone clarity are superb and with an iPhone 5S you can do everything by voice control, including sending text messages by voice. Truly a total hands free system. I cannot be more pleased with the overall performance of this system package.

Pros: Nice package at a very nice price

Cons: Stupid little "side" lights that serve no purpose. If I want a light show I will go to a concert. These lights can be a little distracting at night. 2 small strips of electrical tape solved that problem.

I found this radio to be quite easy to install into my 04 Dodge Ram 1500 with the Infinity sound system. I had to get a kit to hook it up to use all 7 speakers, but it was simple to hook up. Just connect the like colored wires and boom! Sounds fine and the Blue tooth was easy to setup. Have not used the phone option yet. That's probably something I won't use as I have an ear piece for my phone anyway. So far, I'm pretty happy with this. I don't see the display issues that some are reporting. IT seems more than bright enough in the daylight. Althogugh my windows are tinted pretty dark. Maybe that helps? But at 4 in the afternoon, it was plenty bright enough for my eyes. The interface is not as easy, but I was familiar with it from the stereo I replaced. So I was able to breeze thru the setup. I recomment reading over the manual real quick before trying to set it up to avaoid any fustration if you aren't familiar with it. I am also able to use the USB as a charger. I saw some reports that it couldn't be used. I had no problem. The one thing I did have a problem with, was the Dodge Kit with the pocket. The radio would not fit into it. Luckily, I had the kit from the previous radio, otherwise I would have been upset to have to go buy a new one.

Pros: Ease of installation. Sound. Overal quality. Ease of use.

Very good unit, haven't fully explored all the features yet, since I primarily bought it for the bluetooth connectivity and hands free functions. Note that during a call, your voice will seem low to the person on the other end[phone end] in the beginning of the call, but will level out over a short period. I wish this could be adjusted, but I can't complain since the price was oh so right.

Pros: Installation was fairly simple, just don't be afraid of wiring harnesses. Installation kits that came with the purchase made everything very simple, I actually have a lot of spare hardware set aside from the install.

Cons: Illumination is very bright, even with the dimmer on and at the lowest setting. I sometimes drive through some bad towns, and I wish it wasn't very noticeable. Also, it does not come with a case for the removable face, you should look into that.

Read alot of reviews before buying and decided that the display issues weren't a big deal, also talked to a Crutchfield advisor and they also said the display was not a problem. Well if you drive during the day and want to see anything on the unit then the display is a problem. Any kind of external light and it's barely visable, bright light forget it. Also it's a little quirky with my S3, volume changing, BT audio pausing and worst of all Pandora locks out all the other sources. I found myself constantly fiddling with the phone, not good when you're trying to drive.

This unit was a replacement for my son's car. And this was his first install. The included directions, customer - technical support and diagrams made this replacement/install a breeze. As I've done simple to major installs, this was an almost plug and play. My son took the lead while I provided support, I'd highly recommend this as a great mid level unit as it has comparable features without the cost!

This is an excellent car stereo. I bought it to stream music over bluetooth from my Motorola Droid 4 and it works flawlessly. The stereo is compatable with Google Play Music and you can skip tracks directly from the head unit. The included mic is great and if someone calls it automatically pauses the music and displays the phone # thats calling. Answering the call is as simple as pressing a button. Afterwards it continues to play where it left off at. I'm very satisfied with this stereo. My girlfriend loves it too and is going to be putting one in her car also.

Pros: Bluetooth streaming compatable with android. Mic included for calls. Custimizable illumination.

Cons: USB port on front will only work for reading data from flash drives/phone, but won't double as a phone charger. Display even at its brightest is hard to read in daylight sometimes(may be the angle that its in my dash).

Perfect deck for an ok price, which is why only the four stars. This product comes loaded with features such as Bluetooth connectivity to listen to your music and take phone calls. The mic works very well as you don't have to yell to be able to be heard on the freeway. USB and aux input both located in the front make it way easy to plug in. You can choose from a bunch of different colors and mix it up.

Mixtrax is crazy good, once you set the settings to your liking. Extremely impressed with the Pandora functions too CD Player- gives the best sound quality out of all options. Easy to use BT- *already reviewed above

I purchased the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT, along with the Sound Ordinance P-57's and P-65's, for my daughter's '95 Mercury Sable sedan. I have dealt with Crutchfield for over 20 years so expected nothing but excellent service and was quite glad to see that has not changed since my last purchase - still prompt, knowledgeable and professional. Did I say prompt? I called them three times during the install and they answered immediately - no annoying phone tree. A person who knew what they were talking about - on the line and helping me. A shout out to Lefty who was exceptionally helpful - thanks Lefty! The install went fairly straight forward with only needing to drill some holes for front speaker placement. The Mastersheet could have included something about removing the bottom facia dash of steering column to run the mic cord to back of radio, but no biggee and this is a subjective placement issue anyway - plus it was intuitive even for me. The deck couldn't have gone in any easier and the rear speakers were a snap. The deck is an outstanding product and my daughter loves it. It is all that is advertised. The telephone controls are real easy to use and plenty of power for my daughter's listening. I love having the option of Bluetooth, USB or Aux connection and was very surprised at the quality of the BT streaming. Overall very impressed with the purchase and can't get over the low cost of everything. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: High quality service professional, knowledgeable staff quality build of Pioneer deck Sound Ordinance speakers aren't the best, but a solid value and certainly upgrade to the 19 year old originals!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I picked this up over the kenwood Execelon 597 because of the Siri's feature. I wanted a radio deck that will provide me with a completely hands free enviroment when I'm driving. I'm 30 and I hate doing anything while driving but driving. I love to drive and I hate to talk on my phone. This is a great deck with every feature and function you could ask for at that price, however, there are some things this phone has issues with and you have to decide if these features affect you. Should I have gotten the Kenwood? I think so but I will not know for certain until I get my iphone next month.

Pros: Sleek and Stylish - OOO Shiney! and new and lights up brighter than any vehicle dash light will plus the pulsing ans strobe effects are cool if your into that. Features - It has everything you could hope for, Its loaded Price - A- you can't ask for more for the price (or can you?)

Cons: Hard to see - You cannot see this radio maybe 30% visiblity during the day 70% at night but your getting up close and personal with neon lights and the dimmer and brightness doesn't help like it should. This actually could cause you to get into an accident Hard See & Use Buttons on Deck - The deck buttons are almost flush with the unit and they are the same gloss black as the unit "HARD TO USE" Clunky Controls - I spend far too much time sufing through stuff I don't use function wise.

Pioneer deck is high quality and great bang for the buck! Lots of options and blue tooth is cool. Like the way that it automatically starts playing music from my iPhone when I get in my truck and start it up. Display features are numerous and cool and sound/voice clarity via blue tooth phone call is great. Long microphone cord helps tremendously when routing the cord around the truck to the driver side sun visor. Found this same item online along with other components for a lower price. But when it came time to check out, shipping for speakers was completely outrageous (same as the cost of the speakers)! Overall highly satisfied with this product and I'm wholeheartedly happy that I went back to Crutchfield for this product! Phenomenal knowledgeable personnel that work with you to get you what you want and need, plus some free extras to help the installation go much easier!

Pros: Lots of options an great sound for a "low end" deck. Pioneer just keeps on doing it right! Lots of customizing options include fine tuning your own personal sound preferences.

Cons: Some of the buttons are a little small - would be difficult for those people with large hands. Not the stereo itself, but the mounting kit doesn't allow for the Pioneer snap on trim to work so I'm stuck with minor gaps on the sides - but they're hardly noticeable and the top and bottom are just fine. The install was straight forward. Easy to do if you know how to do minor wiring. I soldered my wires for a better connection. It was delivered the next day with free shipping. Can't beat that. Use of the menu system is a bit cumbersome. the display is hard to read during daylight hours even on the brightest setting. The green color was about the only one you can read during daylight. The "phone" icon puts off a lot of light at night, even in dim mode. I also don't like the fact that the bottom row of buttons are not prelit. the labels are above them in the display, which means the secondary funcitons are not visible at night, and initially, you have a tendency to go for the display labels vs. the actual buttons below. It is also cumbersome to switch between what devices you have connected via bluetooth (phones and ipod). Therefore, you can only have one device actively connected at a time.

Pros: Easy to Install. Great external mike and bluetooth works flawlessly thus far.

Cons: Display hard to see during the day. only one bluetooth device can connect at a time. bottom row of buttons not prelit. cumbersome menu navigation.

Pandora is automatic, it even plays songs of my micro memory card on my phone. I have choices a plenty. The Integration Adapter was a wise purchase my eyes are never off the road with the multi functions available on the deck.

Same quality and great sound as my old super tuner bought over thirty years ago but with all the new gadgets, If this one lasts as long as the first has they will be hear long after I'm gone. . Pros: Built in amp, Color choices are nice, Putting a whole stack of C.D's on a I-pod cleans up my car and no more cd melt downs in the Arizona heat. Blue tooth was easy set up and works great.

Cons: Would be nice if you could set the E.Q. to go to voice setting when a phone call comes in. The microphone for the blue tooth needs to come with a in dash install kit. '' I just drilled a hole and made a bracket'' The clip works just fine but my way was cleaner.

I had to replace my stock OEM stereo from my BMW with this product. The installation steps were clear and I had bought the ponsi connectors, which too was a good buy. The blue wire (for remote) from the stereo was not mentioned as to where to connect and initially was not able to hear the audio. After a call to the technical folks I got this handled. Maybe this is an update that need to go in their documentation. As far as the initial use I very much like the feel of it. I still need to try the Pandora and Siri part. Prime reason I bought this was for handsfree calling and it works like a charm. Definitely this is a great value for the money.

Pros: Good product. Shipment had the wiring harness and installation was not difficult. Audio is good as advertised. Good experience for the money invested.

Cons: Too many features and hence will take a little longer to get familiar.

Bought this for my wife's 96 Bronco for Xmas. Fairly easy to install despite that fact that the previous owner butchered the factory wires from another aftermarket radio. This will do everything us "old" people need, easy hands-free bluetooth calling, matching the color to the instrument panel, USB phone/iPad charging, no annoying flashing or animated graphics, compatible with existing factory speakers, you name it. I feel I made an excellent purchase, AND my wife is extremely happy. Crutchfield included everything I needed for an easy install.

The installation took a little longer due to the screw holes on the side of radio body not lining up totally. After calling Crutchfield tech support they assured me the radio was correct and walked me through it and all was corrected. The sound quality is fine for the price range and as plenty of power to battle through the wind noise when my top is down on my convertible. The speakers might be the weak point at this point. Easy to program selecting the features you want to adjust. My primary purchase for this radio was the hands free feature, I have a kenwood on my other car I purchased from crutchfield with similar features and will probably stay with kenwood next time.

Pros: Easy to install, the Bluetooth works great with my android phone.the microphone worked well as my calls sounded clear to the receiver.

The radio is really easy to use, looks cool, and gives my steering wheel functions it never had before (with the optional adapter). I also retained all my vehicles warning chimes and a nice stock look to reduce the possibility of break in. I added a sub with the radio and the combo is just unreal for music. A nice full sound with deep bass and clear highs from the four cabin speakers.

I just installed this stereo in my truck tonight, I have always wanted this stereo after riding with a friend and listening/staring at his. I got one for Christmas. Exactly what I expected!!

Pros: variety of colors and options were awesome, along with the install kit. good sound quality, granted I have stock 1995 speakers, and the other things it has like Bluetooth, usb port, and Pandora ready are all perfect!

Cons: hard to figure out how to set this up exactly to your liking, once the clock is set, pressing band like the manual says didn't work for me. I pressed the button above that and it worked.

Had to route the microphone under the dash, up a side pillar and out on the ceiling near the driver's side visor. It works great!

Pros: Very inexpensive way to get hands free calling in your vehicle. Sounds much better that the stock radio

I was looking for a bluetooth system that would work with Siri (iPhone5s) so she could listen to her playlists and be able to answer the phone if I call her. The step-by-step instructions from Crutchfield made installation a breeze for this mother-daughter team! She loves that the LEDs change color and how quickly it pairs with her phone when she gets in the car

Pros: Easy to install, works with Siri, USB port for charging iPhone on the front

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is what I've come to expect from Pioneer head units. It is a solid performer with a decent amount of features for the price. It plays any media flawlessly and connects via Bluetooth surprisingly fast. At the price point, this really is a quality unit, and the sound quality seems to be good, albeit not quite as good as some other Pioneer units I have had in the past. The illumination options are done well in my opinion, but I really would like to have seen a better dimming system as this thing is very bright in the dark even with the dimmer on. I also noticed that the interface is a little cumbersome. Things like EQ settings that used to take a single button push on many units, require several clicks on this one. One final thing I would like to have seen is an integrated mic for phone calls rather than the stand alone piece. This set up may yield better sound quality, but I don't care much for the requirement of an extra peripheral in order to use that feature. All in all, I would recommend this Pioneer. It's still hard to beat Pioneer quality at this price, especially with media options available here.

Pros: -Standard Pioneer Quality -Several media options make this unit a good value -Seemingly "above average" Bluetooth connectivity

Cons: -Display can sometimes be too bright -Menu navigation and feature adjustments can be needlessly cumbersome at times. -Some may not like the mic set up for Bluetooth phone calls.

Sounds Good, excellent tuner section. Good value.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Has an excellent tuner, pulls in "difficult" stations. Menu driven interface is sometimes counterintuitive. Audio controls, particularly EQ, are cumbersome to use. Bluetooth setup easily. Gain is dramatically different depending on source--CD very loud, tuner quite a bit quieter and noticably down on bass, USB somewhere in between. Emphasis on flash features like "DJ lighting effects" unnecessary and distracting.

Pros: Good audio performance and bluetooth for the money. Excellent tuner.

Cons: Clunky menu structure, not very easy to use. Many oft used features too deep in menu trees. LEDs at ends of panel too bright at night and don't dim with the rest of the panel.

During the daytime, the display is completely unreadable (even with the highest brightness setting). Sunlight pretty much just erases the display. It is vibrant and bright at night, but during the day I can't change any settings or navigate the menus because the text is invisible on the screen. Yes, the sound quality is fine. The bluetooth pairing is fine. All the other features of the radio are fine. But anytime I need to change anything, read the track, look at the menu, or change a setting, I have to do it blind--or wait for nighttime. The display is useless during the day.

Pros: Good sound. Good BT pairing.

Cons: Terrible display. Unreadable when the sun is out.

Pros: Easy to install. Does what I need it to do for the price.

Cons: Has some wacky Blutooth functionality, i.e. starts randomly playing stuff from my phone when it connects. Sometimes does not connect. This may be more due to my piece of crap LG G2X phone. Sound is a bit tinny.

Replaced an OEM stereo in our '98 BMW 323is that will be our son's first car. Installation was a breeze with the supplied adapters. We used heat shrink butt connectors rather than soldering which made the job easier. The unit itself is very high tech looking, and it offers a wide range of colors for the display. The menus for setup take a little getting used to, but it has a lot of functions to control. We are quite pleased with this purchase and were very impressed with the service we got from Crutchfield.

Pros: Great looking unit, buttons have high quality feel, has lots of features that can be adjusted.

Pros: If my phone doesn't need a charge, I can leave it in my pocket while I drive.

Wow, what a radio. Replaced another after market 17 year old Pioneer Radio (Cassette Tape type) in my 1992 Ford Ranger extended cab pickup. The DEX-6600BT arrived in one day as advertised. Installation was super easy with the provided Crutchfield installation kit. I did make two calls to Crutchfield support, one of which was to ensure all of the speaker wires were connected to the adaptor harness correctly. The other was a real dummy check on me. I couldn't get the Bluetooth to work for outgoing calls. Incoming Audio worked fine but no one could hear me. Turned out I had failed to connect the microphone that came with the unit. I thought the radio had a built in mike and didn't realize the mike that came in the box had to be plugged in the back of the unit during installation. I initially thought the included mike had something to do with the smart phone capability of the unit and since I don't have a smart phone I ignored the mike. Dumb Me! The installation directions did not address the issue but I should have known better. A quick call to Crutchfield support solved the issue and to his credit the tech rep didn't even laugh! Bottom line I am extremely pleased with the unit, Sound is great even with the old speakers which are original to the car. Takes a while to get used to all of the features many of which quite frankly will probably go unused. Can't say enough about Crutchfield support. Most helpful, and unbelievably knowledgeable even with an auto that is 22 yrs old.

Ive had the unit for all of but a week but I can say this unit is perfect. Built well, sound quality is amazing especially on stock speakers and the blutooth calls and audio streaming is exactly what i wanted and works perfectly everytime. I just might have to get another one for my Yukon!!!!

Pros: hands free calling and blutooth audio connectivity

Cons: the mic is a little low in sensitivity so keep that in mind when you place the mic.

An amazing piece of hardware. Does everything i need it to. Installation was a breeze with the attached master sheet and wire harness they gave. You have to buy it from Crutchfield. All installation parts you would need are provided free of charge. A good piece for a first time installer i feel. I did need a little help from tech support but it all works out. BEWARE: hyundai owners (especially xg350 base model) your car may or may not have amplifier or mid grade system as some technician told me. This means you will have to connect the blue wires(amp wires) together with the blue white striped wire to make it function.

Pros: -Remote Control -BT streaming results in no drop in audio quality -"cool factor" lights are awesome but can't put both display and key lights to shuffle through different colors. (both display and key lights shuffle through same color)

Cons: -Needs separately sold accessory for connection to existing steering wheel audio controls. -Menus are a bit confusing at first. Takes some getting used to. -BT Audio doesn't display song name or title, artists, etc.

During daylight hours the display is so reflective that it is very difficult to read. Installation was easy and the sound is great. Integration with Ipod is wonderful although it leaves a cable coming out of the front of the display making the unit a bit less attractive.

I replaced my OEM stereo in a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with this, primarily for the Iphone sync. It installed very easily and I called Crutchfield for a faster wiring guide because the wiring guide in the Pioneer manual is nutty. That phone call took less than 10 minutes and the wires were together 10 min after that. Stereo works perfectly, the install kit went in perfectly, looks awesome, and sounds great. I totally recommend this item. Bluetooth hands free phone also working flawlessly.

Pros: Bluetooth phone easy Lot of blinking colors great for entertaining backseat toddlers

It all mounted securely and looks like a professional install. I also purchased the steering wheel control kit, that was an easy setup. Bought this to replace my stock stereo that was broken. I wanted something that was blue tooth compatible and to be able to use my iPod without having to use one of those adaptors in my tape player! I've only had it for about a month and am still getting used to it. What happened to the days when all you had to worry about was balance, treble, bass and fade. There are 17 pages of instructions - which is a little over the top for me. I've finally figured out what I absolutely needed and I'll just take my time with the rest.

Pros: Easy Install; Looks cool once you stop the illumination effects; Bluetooth, Ipod, value

Cons: Can't see display when sunny out; Buttons are small and difficult to read; find I'm always adjusting based on songs played; Instruction manual confusing. lengthy and print too small

Needed a stereo with the option for Bluetooth phone calls. This was at an enticing price point. The install was simple and Crutchfield includes the install kit for free. Streaming Pandora from my Android Gallaxy III works great and was intuitive. Phone connection is clear. While the system only handles a single CD, the USB port allows me to load a flash drive with MP3s. No media player required. I actually bought a second for my other car.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice solid controls, nothing bad to say. Only use this as an upgrade to the stock radio, which made the stock speakers sound really booming and washed out for bass. This unit has a different way of seeing the equalizer, instead of bands, you see frequency numbers. Not a fan of it, as I'm used to using a slide to adjust...but it works. I was able to tune out the bass to a point where it sounds clean. Definitely has more kick than the stock unit for streaming music, as we were using an FM transmitter before. Nice to have the bluetooth. The stock unit was super sensitive to burned cds and would skip at the slightest scratch, not the case with the new unit. Solid upgrade from stock.

Pros: Fit after removing trip kit and pre-installed bracket casing. Looks clean, works as indicated. No issues. Wouldn't recommend if planning to upgrade speakers, install amps, etc. Maybe for subwoofer install only, due to limited preamps. Feels solid, responsive buttons, knob feels tight and solid.

Cons: Clunky interface, not very intuitive. Wouldn't let me adjust illumination or equalizer until I was actually playing music. This is for my wife's car, she'll be fine with it. I'm more of an audiophile, so I wouldn't get one of these for mine. Got it mainly for the IPOD features.

I have always had good results with Pioneer Car receivers. Bluetooth works great for phone calls and music streaming. This is with an Android phone. The remote mounted microphone is the key to good Bluetooth Phone calls. I only wish Pioneer would use an automatic dimmer for the back lighting controlled by the illumination wire on the vehicle harness or a sensor on the radio. You should not need to manually dim the unit for day and night use. Tone control is retained for each source but it difficult to adjust. as is the case with most aftermarket radios. This unit can be adjusted to display the clock at all times. Pioneer radios also will properly random play a flash drive loaded with mp3s unlike other brands. I would by this radio again. In fact i already did. The first car with it was totaled in an accident and I was not permitted to take the radio out at the salvage yard. I purchased another for the replacement car. I also have the previous DEH-x6500BT in another car with good results.

Pros: Sound, Bluetooth, Random play of flash drive. Clock display. External Microphone for Bluetooth

Cons: Display does not dim automatically

I bought this head unit for my wife and she loves it! Installation was no problem, but was a little disappointed that there were no wires to hook up to the dash lights. So the head unit does no change brightness with the dash dimmer switch nor does it go into night illumination mode when you turn the headlights on. The Bluetooth connection with her iPhone 5 is really good with Siri commands, making calls, playing Pandora and playing music directly off her phone. From the time you start the car to playing music or being on a call is about 30 seconds. I was pleasantly surprised I was able to get a head unit that had fully customizable colors, Bluetooth hands free phone calling, iPhone compatibility for Siri, Pandora and Music, and a USB port for a flash drive complete with shipping and all necessary installation items.

Pros: Color Customization Bluetooth for calling Bluetooth for Music Hands free Siri support with an iphone

Cons: No rear USB port Doesn't wire into dash dimmer switch Doesn't automatically switch to night mode

I felt a little nervous replacing my 2000 Mazda B3000 truck factory-fitted radio. Crutchfield made this painless and far less expensive than having it installed. The radio itself works as advertised. Bluetooth, iPhone hands-free use, auxiliary input work well and are reasonably easy to set up. Sound is as good as the factory unit, without needing speaker replacement. I'm still exploring some functions and may never get to all of them.

Pros: Full range of inputs, compatible with existing wiring (using Crutchfield supplied loom and mounting kit)

Cons: Manual is difficult to follow and jumps around. This is a problem since some radio functions are not intuitive. I downloaded a pdf on-line and in order to refer to various pages simultaneously. I'd like the radio display to dim with the dash control. It can be dimmed but is binary, bright or dim with nothing in between.

I bought the unit to replace the stereo in an '88 Iroc Camaro. Wanted better sound, and also to be able to control my Ipod. Fulfills both wishes. The radio tuner works great, as all SuperTuners I've had in the past did, the Ipod sounds great, plug it in to the USB port & instantly control it from the remote, headunit, or Ipod. All work equally well. Haven't used the Bluetooth functions yet, & don't know if I ever will. The car is a summer cruiser that I just want to listen to tunes in & sound good. And Crutchfield delivers with the proper installation kit & harness adapter. Great service!

Pros: Pretty easy install, Great sound, Looks good.

Cons: Instruction Manual.. My eyes are getting too old to read the small printing in the manual. Cmon Pioneer, you make a great headunit, give it the manual it deserves. The manual also is a bit vague on some of the functions, but I figured it out with some time playing & reading (squinting).

I am very satisfied that I bought one of the best replacement head units for the money. Significantly superior sound to the factory BMW unit I replaced. I am happy with the ease of use and range of features. The Siri Eyes Free feature on the new Pioneers is wonderful; means you can control your phone by voice while concentrating on driving. Glare can be a problem on the few times you need to glance at the unit - I have minimized it by using orange/green color scheme and will try an anti-glare screen cover. Rear USB would have been nice. Some are complaining about radio reception - you just need to make sure you connect the blue wire to get power your antenna.

Pros: Audio quality and adjustability Simple operation once familiar with it Excellent connectivity with multiple devices - wired or Blutooth Excellent phone connection/clarity Siri eyes free Massive choice of colors and illumination options Easy installation

Cons: High glare during sunlight (will try cutting iPad or similar screen cover to size) Volume not accessible during menu selections (I guess this goes away if you use the kit to program the steering controls) No rear USB Poorly-written manual but easy to use

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was sick of living in the 18th century (at least that's what it felt like) with the stock stereo of my 1997 Infiniti i30, which had a tape player that somehow still worked but the CD player was getting extremely temperamental. I didn't realize how inexpensive it would be to simply get a new stereo, and all I really wanted was an AUX jack to plug in my phone/ipod, but what I got was so much better! I've only had it installed for a couple of hours, but already I know I'm going to be happy with it. The lights do seem very bright, but I've managed to make them colors that won't bother me while driving at night, and I was fiddling around with it in direct sun in the late afternoon, and though it was difficult to see, it was easier to see than my old stereo's lights. It was a little difficult to figure out at first (even for a techie girl like me), especially with changing the lights, but now I think I know what I'm doing for the most part. I did notice that connecting my iPhone via bluetooth for the first time took a while, but I restarted the car a bit later and it connected quickly. I had my brother-in-law install the stereo for me, and asked him to put the mic by the top left corner of my windshield, and I called my husband at work who couldn't even tell I was calling him through my car. Pretty cool! I'm so happy that I bought this through crutchfield, because it made it so much easier knowing that it would fit in my car and be easy to install! Thanks, crutchfield!

Pros: bluetooth with mic, iphone/ipod compatible, aux jack, usb jack, customizable light colors

Cons: plastic door covering usb is flimsy - I can imagine it'll probably break off within a year, controls could be easier to navigate

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The DEH-X6600BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth ver. 3.0, allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit.  In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP (Hands Free Profile), HSP (Head Set Profile), OPP (Object Push Profile), PBAB (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT.

SPP + USB Pairing w/ Guest Mode: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DEH-X6600BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings (your phone must also support SSP). When your paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this head unit, but nly one device can be used at a time. You can also pair your Apple iPhone by simply connecting it to the Pioneer head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display. In addition, the DEH-X6600BT features "Guest Mode", which allows you to add and replace a mobile device instantly to the receiver. Guest Mode is a great feature for a family vehicle with multiple drivers or a driver with multiple devices because it allows users to pair and delete devices easily without a lengthy registration or deletion process.

Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The DEH-X6600BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/HSP/OPP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The DEH-X6600BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the DEH-X6600BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book from the head unit, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.
    • Voice Dialing (Siri only): When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or 5/5C/5S via Bluetooth, the Pioneer head unit has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. You'll be able to dial a phone number or contact via voice command.
Note: The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of many aftermarket or factory radios. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. The microphone measures 0.475" (diameter) x 1.445" (depth). The unit is not equipped with an integrated microphone.

Wireless Audio Streaming (with Song/Artist Info): The Pioneer DEH-X6600BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. The DEH-X6600BT will be able to control basic playback features; Play, Pause, & Skip Tracks (app must also support). The head unit will also display your  music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (app must also support). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

Siri Eyes-Free Functionality: When paired and connected with an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. iPhone 4S and iPhone 5/5C/5S users can take advantage of Siri Eyes-Free functionality with a long-press of the 3-way rotary dial on the Pioneer receiver's front-panel. When activated, Siri voice prompts play through the vehicle's speakers and the user's commands and questions are received and transmitted to the receiver using the external microphone. Siri Eyes-Free provides access to many iPhone Siri functions such as music selection, making phone calls, and audible navigation (map will be displayed on iPhone); as well as listening to text messages, calendar information, and reminders. The head unit's display will only indicate hands-free calling and song/artist information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

Note: Your iPhone with Siri can be connected via Bluetooth and USB simultaneously. You can only access stored music using Siri when the head unit's source is iPod or Bluetooth Audio. All other Siri functions can be accessed from any source. The head unit's audio is muted while Siri provides audible voice prompts.

    Disc & USB Playback

Compatible Discs: The Pioneer DEH-X6600BT CD receiver supports playback of CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. This unit can play MP3, WMA, and WAV files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-X6600BT is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

    AM/FM + Pandora Radio

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Pandora Internet Radio (for iPhone & Android): The free Pandora App (either from iTunes Apps or Google Play) lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT using your USB-connected Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) or Bluetooth paired Android smartphone. Your Apple iPhone must be connected to the DEH-X6600BT via the appropriate Pioneer iPod connector cable (130CDIU51/130CDIU52, sold separately) or the connector-cable that came with your iPhone. Your Android smartphone must support A2DP/AVRCP/SPP Bluetooth profiles and be paired with the Pioneer DEH-X6600BT. Your iPhone or Android smartphone will also need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. The DEH-X6600BT provides control over the Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information.

    • Station List: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Shuffle Station List: You can listen to songs played randomly from various stations within your Station List.
    • New Stations: New stations can be created based on the current songs or artists playing.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or smartphone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada and only available in the United States.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X6600BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-X6600BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

4ch/2V Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-X6600BT features two pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs. The unit's rear preamp outputs can be configured as fading rear-channel outputs or a non-fading subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level control.

Subwoofer Control: When the head unit's preamp output is configured as a subwoofer output, you can select the frequency of the low pass filter (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125 Hz), select the filter slope (-6/-12dB), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-X6600BT features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

High-Pass Crossover: When you don't want low-frequency sound to be heard through your front or rear speakers, you can simply active the head unit's HPF (high pass filter). By activating the HPF, only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers. The high pass filter crossover can be set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160hz, 200Hz or Off. The slope level of the HPF can also be adjusted to -6dB or 12dB.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB device, iPod/iPhone, and portable media players. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer DEH-X6600BT CD receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.

    • Bass Boost The DEH-X6600BT features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
    • Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone/iPad. It is also not supported by USB MTP devices.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X6600BT in-dash CD receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 5 preset colors (White/Red/Amber/Green/Blue), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music. You can also choose which area's of the head unit's face illuminates; select Display, Display/Buttons, or Off.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On/Off within the menu.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X6600BT comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause the CD, change the display, and adjust the audio. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel). In addition, you can answer/end calls from a Bluetooth connected smartphone.

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). 20 questions already asked

I would double check the mic is fully seated. If you can hear them and it rings via the speakers thats your issue unless the unit has issues. [ JESUS  Sep 30, 2014 ]
I think it is either the placement of the microphone or it is not plugged in properly in the back of the player. I hope this helps. DVM [ DELMAR V  Sep 30, 2014 ]
Did they install the microphone? The first time I put one in I didn't realize the microphone needed to be plugged into the back of the unit. I had to take it out, plug in the microphone, and reinstall the deck. Sounds to me like the mic is not plugged in, or plugged into the wrong input on the back. That's something the installers should have checked before they let it out of their shop. Since the Bluetooth clearly works, a good way to check it would be to take it back to the shop to see if they can get their phone to work properly with it. If they get the same result you know what happened, and they should pull it and correct the problem for free. [ DONALD G  Sep 30, 2014 ]
I would check to make sure they installed the external microphone that comes with the unit! It's not built in, you have to install it also! [ MATTHEW  Sep 29, 2014 ]
I had mine locally and the technician told me to pair the receiver with the bluetooth on your Iphone and when you see the number come out on the receiver you have press the accept button on the receiver then you are connected [ ALBERTO  Sep 29, 2014 ]
It 'sounds' like they didn't hook up the microphone included with the kit. I'd take it back to the installer and make sure it's connected. I mounted mine by the steering wheel - bad choice. Up near the sun visor would be better. [ DANIEL  Sep 29, 2014 ]
It only has an external microphone that has to be plugged into the back of the unit. It comes with the hardware to either clip it on the visor or to attach it to the steering wheel. The only problem with attaching to the steering wheel is that the turn signal clicks may come through the microphone. [ Tistafford  Sep 29, 2014 ]
Ensure the hands free Mic is plugged into the back of the reciever and fully seated [ GARY  Sep 29, 2014 ]
Jim, I have this unit and it works well with my iPhone 5. My first question is...did the installers connect the microphone that came with the unit? If they did...where did they place it. rz [ RALPH A  Sep 29, 2014 ]
Make sure they installed and connected the mic as well. Usually people attach it to the driver's visor. [ ASSAF  Sep 29, 2014 ]

I am having trouble with the radio reception also I do not know, I would be interested in a solution Sorry [ MARC A  Jul 22, 2014 ]
    No [ RADAMES  Jul 22, 2014 ]
    Yes [ RADAMES  Jul 22, 2014 ]
Thanks ... that about covers it other than the best AM/FM antenna. [ Mark  Jul 22, 2014 ]
It would need some type of antenna esp. for fm reception. [ Tistafford  Jul 21, 2014 ]
    Yes for AM/FM/XM/Sirius reception. [ ROBERT E  Jul 21, 2014 ]
If you mean on the outside of your car yes but if you mean that you need something to connect your antenna to your radio it will come with the antenna adapter [ GARRETT  Jul 21, 2014 ]
Not sure. This unit was put in a Saturn car and it did have an external antenna. Seems to be a great unit. No complaints. [ BRIAN  Jul 21, 2014 ]

This is probably best asked to a Crutchfield tech. It depends on what you're doing with the amp. [ KRISTOPHER  Jun 21, 2014 ]
If theyre going to a monoblock sub amp then test both but if theyre for a speaker amp then you should have two sets of rcas going to the amp. Also make sure youre using the output jacks. [ KEITH B  Jun 20, 2014 ]
It depends what the amp is driving. It should say sub on one of the sets. If your doing a sub then use those ones otherwise for door speakers or whatever else use the other set. I hope this helps. [ Tanner  Jun 20, 2014 ]
    Yes [ RADAMES  Jun 05, 2014 ]
I do not know of a way, but when it is connected via BT and you use your iphone to call someone, it gives you the option of only using the phone rather than the head unit [ MARC A  Jun 04, 2014 ]
Brian, I have had 4 of these Pioneer 6600BT head units or their previous models and I love them. When you link the phone to the unit your phone is automatically connected. If you choose to not receive calls you can choose do not disturb from the phone settings menu thereby preventing calls. The only feature this head unit could improve on is the visibility of the display during the day.It is very dim and nearly impossible to see. In the evening just the opposite is the case. The display is overly bright and distracting due to the lack of a dimmer feature either on the unit itself or the optional wiring necessary to connect it to the vehicle's dashboard dimmer control. I have found this model Pioneer to be feature laden at a very attractive price. Enjoy. Kenneth [ KENNETH  Jun 04, 2014 ]
I think it all goes together via the bluetooth connection. However, maybe the phone wouldn't see it as an external phone microphone if you didn't attach the microphone? I'm not sure. However, in any case, even if the phone sent calls to the receiver, here's how you'd get around using the phone aspect if you didn't want to use it:Answer your phone by swiping or tapping on the screen instead of hitting the phone answer button on the deck. At least on my iPhone, this automatically routs the audio to my handset instead of the deck. But I'm not sure you can avoid it ringing and stuff through your speakers. I bet a Crutchfield advisor could tell you more. [ KRISTOPHER  Jun 04, 2014 ]
I stream Spotify through this unit all day with my galaxy s4... With my old iPhone the display read the track titles, but not with the Android system... no big deal for me since I have my phone mounted on my dashboard anyways. You can switch tracks with the controls on the head unit. I have had no problems and even bought my sister one for her birthday. For me it was perfect... not too fancy and I can play my spotify. [ TIMOTHY  May 20, 2014 ]
I own an android I use apps like Pandora, and HDRN. No problems with the bluetooth. [ PEDRO  May 20, 2014 ]
I use it to stream Google Music and TuneIn Radio on my Droid Razr Maxx with no issues. I don't use Spotify but I don't see why it wouldn't, streaming is streaming. [ BROCK  May 20, 2014 ]
Not sure I put it in my girlfriends car. But we both have I phones. I'm a kenwood guy but it is a very nice unit and she loves it. I would recommend it if it would work. [ JASON R  May 20, 2014 ]
I stream alot with my Android phone,I got a old Samsung s version so I think your good [ JUAN  May 20, 2014 ]
Usually restarting both devices helps to fix this error. My receiver often just cuts out Bluetooth after running for a while (maybe an hour or two) and then I have to turn the receiver on and off to get it working again. The receiver may be buggy with android 2.2 as the device does support all OS, anything less than android 4.0 may have issues. [ NITIN  Mar 11, 2014 ]
I use an iPhone and have had this happen. Turn off the power supply to unit then restart. Unit will require the Bluetooth and should work fine. Hopes this helps. [ Mark  Mar 10, 2014 ]

Unfortunately nothing can be done about the brightness during the day. [ NITIN  Mar 11, 2014 ]
This receiver is amazing. But during the day, it is quite difficult to see in direct sunlight. I attempted to use the dimmer wires but there was no difference even on the highest brightness. That is the only drawback unfortunately. [ NITIN  Mar 11, 2014 ]
My daughter has the stereo in the car she drives and uses the color changing setting. We live in Upstate NY, and she has no trouble with the display. Perhaps viewing the display with the changing colors you would find a color that is visible for you. [ MICHAEL E  Mar 10, 2014 ]
I have the dimmer option wired and I can see the display 98% of the time, the other 2% is only when the sunroof is open and it's at the right angle to the display. [ RANJEL  Mar 09, 2014 ]
I can see my reciever just fine during the day, I have the display on all white. [ RICK  Mar 09, 2014 ]

Apparently this is a common problem. I too have had the error 10 msg I just plug the phone into USB jack turn off the Bluetooth sync again using control button. Then unplug from USB. Don't know why this happens other than its an electronic device. Far from perfect. I can't get music files to play using flash drive to USB via my iTunes library. [ TIM  Feb 18, 2014 ]

If there is supposed to be a number for the ratio I don't know it. But I can tell you is the sound is very clear when playing a CD or playing the Radio. I think it's better then the stock sound system I had. One thing I did notice, was a slight fuzzy sound sound when playing music through the Bluetooth, which is to be expected. I believe this to be normal any time you play music wirelessly. I did notice that it was not as prominent on this device as others. Now using the phone capability, my wife and friends said they couldn't tell any difference in my voice when I was talking through the stero's Bluetooth or talking directly through the phone. I even listened to a message I left and it sounded really clear. [ JENSEN  Nov 28, 2013 ]
Toby, I cannot quote you the spec for signal to noise ratio, but inside my crv there's enough road noise that I'm not sure i could tell the difference if it was a little better or worse. I just want you to know that I've been really happy with this unit. It does everything I could want. Don [ DONALD G  Nov 28, 2013 ]
If this is a question relating to the Bluetooth then yes. The signal is great and the noise sounds good. [ CODY A  Nov 28, 2013 ]
The FM tuner has a signal to noise ratio of 72db The AM tuner has a ratio of 62db The unit overall has a S/N ratio of 91dBA [ JOHN  Nov 28, 2013 ]
You may not have connected (or properly connected) the YELLOW wire from the Pioneer harness to a constant 12v wire from your car. [ Chris  Mar 30, 2014 ]
