Non-intuitive menu driven interface. Most functions difficult to find. They try to make a radio fancy by taking away all the buttons and knobs and they end up just making it hard to operate. Station title and song title do not display correctly. Don't recommend.

    Pros: Sound fairly ok.

Cons: Non-intuitive menu driven interface. Most functions difficult to find. Station tilte and song title do not disply correctly. Don't recommend.

Very attractive looking radio but I had speaker popping noises added additional ground wire that did not help. Now after 8 months the USB port when is use is flashes red and won't play songs.

    Pros: Radio looks awesome.

Cons: Had issues from day 1; speaker interference; hands free talking never has worked now USB flashes red and will not play music. This is probably the reason it was discontinued.

Well its everything i want, course im a meat and potatoes guy. It has aux capibilty other various features some i have yet to explore. However the guys that installed it may have done something wrong because i cant pick up AM signal worth spit. They said it was because of a bad tuner, i find that hard to believe. Maybe i was better off installing it myself instead of a radio company. I purchased it from an online retailer before it was available on Crutchfield unfortunately.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love this stereo. It has all the functions that I want (3.5 mm, USB, bluetooth, AM/FM, CD) and was painless to install. The sound quality is far better than my old factory installed stereo. I gave it 4 stars on Easy To Use but that's just in comparison to the latest touch screen stereos (Which may be a little unfair).

Pros: Installs quickly. Great sound. Easy to connect BT.

Cons: Although it has many customizable features, it can be a little tricky initially set up.

    Great Stereo for the Price

    2009 Ford Fusion
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was a purchase for my son's 2009 Fusion and looks and sounds great with the factory speakers. We decided to have the unit professionally installed vs. doing it ourselves in the cold garage during the middle of winter and glad we did! The BT feature is probably what I am most impressed with and how it connects to your phone for both phone calls and audio streaming. Pairing to an iphone 4S and 5C was flawless. For phone features you can set to auto answer for incoming calls which I felt was a plus for a young driver that needs less distractions fumbling for buttons to answer a phone. Access to your phone book from the phone is displayed on the screen in several options. All of your music files on your phone are accessible through the unit as well with ability to connect via BT, USB and Aux port. USB connection provides the best sound performance and also allows the MixTrax feature to function which is a cool with the flashing lights to the beat of the music. This was a great purchase and my son is very happy with it. We are now trying to determine if adding a sub and new aftermarket speakers would make the unit sound even better! I highly suggest purchasing a full kit from Crutchfield for installation as it makes life much easier and allows you to keep steering wheel controls. A heated garage is always a plus as well!

Pros: Very easy to operate Offers tons of features to connect with your smart phone for music and phone options. Lighted display and button options allow you to match the look of the rest of your dash lighting.

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Absolutely GREAT radio!!! Pioneer has so many great and easy to use features on this head unit. Large rotary knob in the center allows quick scrolling through menus and searches. This head unit is easy to link to a phone via Bluetooth and can search through Pandora with built in radio controls. Phone and other device connectivity works flawlessly. Connected to Pandora via Bluetooth allows song skipping on the radio and displays song/artist info. Shutting the car off and upon restart automatically reconnects and resumes playing. Bluetooth linked wireless talking sounds great and easy to use. This is a amazing radio and even better at the price it is!

Pros: Ease of use. Connectivity functionality. Price for amount of features!

Cons: Display is kind of bright

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit sounds great and looks awesome. It's a Pioneer! I have had this unit for only a couple of weeks. The only complaint I have is that the "dimmer" function could be a little more functional. Even with the dimmer "ON" the unit is still very bright. When I match the colors of the radio to my trucks instrument panel, it lights up the entire crew cab. This is not a problem during the day time. However, at night it is blinding. I have to keep the "Key" color on a dark blue so it is not so bright.

Pros: Easy-to-use, customizable to any interior, great sound quality, Great Price!

Cons: The only complaint so far is the brightness of the unit even if the dimmer is "ON".

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent product - looks to have been superseded by the FHX720BT. Great sound, great external microphone and very easy install. The Crutchfield kit which includes the fascia and harness makes the install very straight forward - just match up the wire colors, solder together, plug and play. Comments so far from using bluetooth calls have been crystal clear clarity from the microphone, which was one of the main reasons I went for this unit. The look of the unit is one of personal taste - granted there are more attractive head units out there; for me the other reason I went for this particular model is that it doesn't look very expensive, so will likely not be the subject of any unwanted attention. 10 out of 10 and great service from Crutchfield

Pros: - Excellent sound quality - External high quality microphone - Remote handset - Great value - Lighter than OEM head unit

Cons: - Doesn't look high end (but then it isn't)

    Welll worth it!

    2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix's factory radio with this Pioneer unit. Decided to keep the car for a few more years and wanted the bluetooth connectibility for the Ipad and for a telephone. I'll admit, doing this yourself can seem intimidating but I decided to give it a go. First, the most important thing is to have the right tools. Spend a couple of bucks and by a tool to pry off your car panel. It made it so easy and worked like a champ. I also looked at Youtube for some videos on installation and the radio. Unbelievably great information. When the unit arrived, I did the wiring in the basement on my work bench. I bought crimp caps from Radio Shack to connect the wires and they worked great. There were a couple of extra red wires which concerned me but a quick call to Crutchfields incredible tech support answered the question in a second. The actual install was easy. The hardest part was unplugging the factory radio which was just a tight connector. Once in, turned it on, worked like a champ. It looks great, sounds great, and now has all the bluetooth connectabilty I wanted. The CD player is almost obsolete now. The unit comes with a neat feature called Mixtrax which flashes the unit's lights to the music. The manual was unclear about this function but I called Crutchfield and learned that this works ONLY with music on a USB thumb drive. I bought a couple of low profile thumbs and uploaded some MP3's to them and the feature works great. My good old Pontiac is new!

Pros: *Bluetooth connectability for a phone is a great feature *Lights are adjustable and fun *Sound quality is very good *Install is easy with a little preparation *Great to connect ipod to unit *Much better than old radio with new features *Easy to setup with a little experimenting

Cons: *The manual is not very well written but you can get the information on Youtube

Comments for 93 Corvette, Series C4

NVJJ from Burgess, VA on 12/2/2014

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 93 Corvette, my notes maybe applicable to all C4 series model years. The manual is too hard on old eyes; the fonts are way too small and too lite for easy reading. The SCR button does not turn the unit off completely. If you just want to hear the radio or CD, the speakers are activated when the vehicle is started. If you turn the radio off the speakers stay on with a hum noise and the antenna stays up. It is a nuisance listening to the speaker hum. The antenna going up and down every time vehicle is started and amplifiers being on at each speaker Bose speaker during a non-use creates costly wear on items to be rebuilt or replaced; price out those amplifiers. I was told the speakers and antenna would be off, during an off mode, which did not work out. The only way to get them off is to open the door, not practical at 60 mph. If you use the vehicle occasionally it may be practical to disconnect the battery to prevent battery drain. But the radio will not retain memory with a disconnected battery; therefore it has to be reprogrammed, a real pain. The phone mic.is connected with a wire in the back of the radio. I left off since I did not want to tangle the wire in the steering, could interfere with driving, or just the wires looking bad. I expect a remote mic is in the future. There is a free video on the internet which shows easy directions for installing the stereo / cd, which is very worthy for my Corvette. Otherwise the Stereo / cd sounds good, after a few minutes

    Pros:

Cons: I have a 93 Corvette, my notes maybe applicable to all C4 series Model years. The manual is too hard on old eyes; the fonts are way too small and too lite for easy reading.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been a Pioneer fan and advocate since the late 80's. I felt like they always have put out a quality product, and this deck is no exception. It has a great sound and an even better look. When you pick a deck to go into your vehicle you want something that looks like it belongs. This deck looked like it belonged in the dash. A perfect fit, not to mention a perfect sound. Then with the custom multi colored LEDs in this deck I didn't have to worry about it matching the factory light in my 2012 F-150. Maybe I should have taken a pic and sent it in. The look is sleek and sexy. Adjusting the settings took me a few minutes though. Does have your basic bass and treble settings, but has EQ settings which I had to figure out, but now that I have it sounds great.

Pros: LEDs lets me customize the look, sexy look, a lot of adjustments to get it sounding just like I want

Cons: going thru the menu to make adjustments, manual is a bit complex

    Great piece

Unit was similar to a prior purchase from Crutchfield. The wiring up was fine and the fit was spot on. It has all the features I need.

Pros: Looks great and was able to match display color for my 04 Passat. Bluetooth link works flawlessly. Set up and programming was easy.

Cons: Mixtrax feature is totally lost on me. It's like having a disco ball in your car. I opted out. I wish they had a weighted control knob that felt like I was turning something.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am the original owner of a 2003 Ford Expedition. The stock radio had no aux port, BT, or way to play mp3s from my iphone. I also wanted a way to talk wireless while driving so I bought the Pioneer FH-X700BT and crutchfield included the wire harness, faceplate and install instructions. I did buy a seperate 12V to 5V amp converter after reading install reviews. The install was super fast and easy. I installed the BT mic on my visor and have used in numerous times. The BT streaming feature is fantastic. I love how I can get in the truck, start it up, and without ever taking my phone out of my pocket it will continue streaming right where it left off - whether it was Pandora, Amazon, iTunes, or the music on my phone.

Pros: BT phone operations BT streaming Ease of use Sound quality

Cons: No tie wiring to interface with the car headlight dimming

Made from cheap material. Within 3 months the plastic chrome finish started coming off. Shows wear quickly. The lights are too bright at night and too dim in the day.

Pros: A lot of connectivity for price.

Cons: The setting reset to factory randomly. this is incredibly annoying because I have to reset all my radio channels, the clock, the lighting scheme and the audio settings almost daily. The trim lights are too bright at night, yet the display lights are too dim in the day. The dimmer barely makes any difference. Made from cheap material. Within 3 months the plastic chrome finish started coming off. Shows wear quickly. The lights are too bright at night and too dim in the day.

Smarter than I am. I actually have had to read the manual to operate this. Well, not the whole manual, anyway. The unit is smarter than I am. Lots of variable settings. Not too hard, just have to get the hang of it and learn the quirky things.

Pros: Plugged in and working without setting up a thing, and even answered a call for me before setting up the phone.

Cons: I'll find them in time, I think.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced OEM unit because I wanted iPhone control & Bluetooth for calling. Was pleasantly surprised to find that Bluetooth audio works flawlessly and even displays the track name when I'm streaming from Spotify or Pandora. Sounds quality is much better than the stock unit, even without upgrading the speakers. This was my first DIY car stereo installation and it wasn't too difficult - just took patience.

Pros: Bluetooth audio & phone calling work flawlessly, makes the USB port almost unnecessary Very good sound Lots of features when you figure out the menu navigation - colors, equalizer, etc. Very good value for the money

Cons: Rotating colors (default functionality, can be changed) is cheesy LCD display feels like a throwback to the 90's, but a more modern screen would probably have driven up the cost Takes some time to figure out how to manipulate all the menus via the single knob

I really like the system. My only complaint is that I can't get the rear speakers to function. I've made one call and spoke with your tech and still ..... no sound. These are new speakers purchased from you folks that operated before making the switch to Pioneer. The instructions provided were not the best. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was not the HU I initially wanted. At a minimum for replacing the factory unit I was looking for iPod interface, keeping my steering wheel controls (SWC), and BlueTooth phone and audio. The "nice to haves" were touch screen and full Android integration. This unit had my minimums and when I saw it on-sale and how desperate I was to replace my current factory unit I jumped at it. I have NOT been disappointed. Installation was easy in my Ford Expedition. Units have changed a LOT since my last installs for friends in High School and College - but the tech team at was very knowledgeable and patient and helped me in my ordering of the Steering Wheel control and ensuring and double checking I had the right equipment and parts for my car. I made two calls during installation to ensure my wiring before soldering up my harnesses and connecting the SWC. Both calls were answered promptly and professionally. Great overall experience and very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Looks good, customizable, BlueTooth Audio and Phone is fantastic

Cons: Illumination/dimming for night driving is needed.

Very good "radio" for the price, but does so much more. BT is nice, USB port on front is a plus. Looks great! I had to set to dark red in color, and dimmed as it's pretty bright at night. Controls have good feel, and I see why I've always been a Pioneer fan.

Pros: Easy to install, good controls, works well.

Cons: Settings/menu system a little strange at first, but actually makes sense after you use if for a bit. No worries.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced factory Bose HU in my Maxima with this unit. Installation was simple and straightforward. Everything works great on it. Build quality seems good so far (only installed a week), despite being considerably lighter than the factory HU which could be the lack of the 6cd changer. Sounds a lot better through the factory amp and speakers once I got everything tweaked with the EQ and input gains. Radio reception is awful, but I think that is due to the factory "diversity antenna" of the Bose system not being fully compatible with a standard single antenna system. I rarely listen to the radio, so that's not an issue for me. The customizable display colors were able to blend with dash lighting and LED displays very nicely.

Pros: -Sound quality, appearance, build quality, functionality

Cons: The very shiny & modern appearance may look out of place in older or more basic interiors.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this receiver to replace a faulty aftermarket in my 1999 Toyota Tacoma. Installation went well and fit perfectly into the factory opening. Normally wiring harnesses from Crutchfield work well but because of the previous aftermarket installation - I was not able to use the one provided [not Crutchfield's fault]. The Pioneer unit sounds decent but there are factory preset equalizations that do an OK job; but I prefer to tweek some of the audio bands myself rather than relying on presets. Also couldn't hear much difference between three loudness settings. The mixtrack lighting feature is annoying - maybe I just have to experiment more to figure out how to shut it off. Also, if there's an On/Off feature [besides turning the vehicle off] ... it's a mystery to me. Overall I like the sound and ease of installation. At The pricepoint for this unit, it's a good buy. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Having a USB and stereo mini plug input on the face of the Pioneer is excellent - love it ! Haven't paired up my cell phone yet .... but it's another feature that influenced my decision to buy this unit in the first place. The coolness factor only applies if you like annoying, flashing lights - yuk. Toyota factory speakers were already upgraded to 4 Infinity speakers which adds to the sound quality. You really have to work with this receiver to figure out many of the settings that are not covered well in the manual.

Pros: Good sound, easy to install. USB and stereo mini plug input a real plus. Easy to read displays. Radio sensitivity is very good.

Cons: Can't find an On/Off button. Preset equalization not as flexible as I'd like. Flashing mixtrack lights that constantly change colors is distracting.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off, this is a great radio, it really added quite a dynamic sound compared to my stock receiver and the EQ options are great. The color changing options are fantastic as well, however this receiver is bright. I had to choose a darker color just so I wasn't distracting myself at night. The receiver also doesn't have a wire for illumination, it has to be switched on and off manually which is a pain. The display is adequate, but it would be nice to be able to see track info and time. The bluetooth music streaming is the reason I bought this receiver and I must say I'm very happy with it, flawless bluetooth control. All in all I am very happy with my receiver and I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Pros: Great sound Great "styling" Great build quality Nice EQ Great bluetooth connectivity Nice color options

Cons: Bright. No dimmer/illumination wires for auto dimming Interface can be a little confusing

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Had this installed in my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I did not install it myself. I'm used to the older style decks where you can control bass, mid, and treble. Everything this deck does is based on hZ. I don't know enough about audio to know which hertz are the right hertz to adjust so it was very very confusing after it was installed. Once I had my car audio guy explain everything to me it made a lot more sense though. The deck came with built in bluetooth which I knew before I bought it but I had no idea what it meant exactly. It came with a microphone that the installer attached above my rear-view mirror and now I have hands-free phone calls in my car and hear the other party through my speakers. Awesome! There's a USB port on the front of the deck so you can plug a flash drive in and it will play any music you have on the flash drive. I don't know if there are file types it won't play. That's a cool feature but I still prefer to plug my 160gb ipod in and set it to shuffle. The deck has cool colors to choose from and it's pretty easy to use. There's one main button to get to the menu which is nice. Other decks I've had had multiple menu options and different buttons to use to get to them. Overall I like this deck and it seems like it was a good value. My installer told me "it only has two pre-outs". I have no idea what that means but maybe somebody that's looking at this deck will read this and it will help them make a decision lol

Pros: Cool colors Ease of use Good sound

Cons: A little confusing if you don't understand the hertz that different sounds are measured in

This radio is awesome! I initially installed this in my 2003 Trailblazer and it worked flawlessly. The car recently got totaled and one of my only stipulations for a new car was that this radio had to fit in it. I have had this unit for about 3 months now. Great stereo for the money, easy assembly and installation. I installed the unit in my 2004 F-250. It was a tight fit even with modifying the dash. You have to file/remove quite a bit of the surrounding dash material to get the stereo to fit. Once it is in there is no removing it. The fit is good and looks good. Waiting to see how it performs in the sub-arctic conditions this coming winter in WI.

Pros: Easy assembly and connections. Easy directions. Very nice fit once you get the material removed. The microphone for the phone works very good. Other bluetooth devices haven't worked this well. Very easy connections with phone to use iphone/itunes music. Great sound, I will purchasing new speakers in the future to improve the sound quality from the stock ones.

Cons: The programing options are intense, learning the sequence of operations to get to each option to make adjustments gets confusing at times. This could be simpler. Not being able to pull unit out once its installed unless you pull apart the whole dash.

I bought the same radio for my wife's 05 Tahoe in December (gift from Santa) and at first did not like it seemed to busy. I quickly became jealous with the functionality of the CD Player. The ease in which she could navigate the attached flash drive for music, to changing the colors of the display/buttons (only downside is dim is still bright at night). I have always been a fan of Pioneer since the High School days and nothing has changed. I was worried about hooking up the wiring harness and external microphone for the handsfree phone function (a recent self professed DIYer), however the task was not too much and the CD Player is working fine. It has made my stock speakers sound like they have life in them (I may have to update that at a later date). The longest task of the entire install was mounting the microphone and hiding the wire under the headliner and under all the trim/dash (time consuming but worth the $75.00 I saved doing the install myself). FYI- Red to me is the dimmest of the lights which works out great for me. Thanks Crutchfield Team

Pros: Too many features, handsfree blue tooth, USB port for flash drive or charging phone, Aux input, .....

Cons: The only con would be I added to my cart and then when went to complete the purchase the price had increased back to the old (higher) price, same price paid for wife's unit in December. The con was still not enough to keep me away or change my mind. Just on the next go will make sure wallet is handy to pay right then. Live and learn.

Was looking for a low cost upgrade to add hands free phone use. Am 100% satisfied I made the right choice. This head unit is easy to setup and use is intuitive. I hardly needed to refer to the manual. Ease of installation depends on your application (car) but in my case it took just 10 minutes AFTER creating the interface cable, which took 20 minutes - cause I always solder my connections. Regardless making the cable is easy because all of the wires are color coded and matched up perfectly

Pros: Great price. All the features needed for great sound quality, especially the base boost. Has improved the safety of my driving experience with hand free cell phone feature. Interface with the cell phone is automated, no codes to enter.

Cons: The quality was so good it made me want even more. So I ordered speaker upgrades too.

I was afraid I would have to replace the speakers in my old factory system. I replaced the head end first so I can stream bluetooth from my devices and found the sound qualify from this stereo is excellent, and I no longer need to replace any of my factory speakers.

Pros: Great sound, love the features, USB & Aux port in front. Bluetooth automatically connects and continues playing where it left off, even when moving from a bluetooth headset to the stereo. Installation was easy and the display looks good in my car.

Cons: The interface is a little tough to figure out and learn. The display is a little too busy and bright, and the volume knob takes too many turns to adjust the sound. I wish it had an off button instead of having to hold the source button. None of the above issues are enough to have kept me from purchasing the stereo.

I love this stereo. Sounds amazing. Super easy to install. I've never installed a car stereo before, and I got it done in about 45 minutes (this includes the time I spent looking for my crimping tool). Very easy to set up. You can pick from a bunch of choices for the lighting. Bluetooth was okay to set up. I had to pair it from my phone.... couldn't figure out how to pair it from the receiver's end. Call quality is very good. Two small, but minor downsides. The wiring from the stereo is a pretty light guage. Haven't noticed any sound quality issued, but it wasn't as thick a gauge as what my oem stereo had. Second, very minor downside, the illumination doesn't really dim that much at night. These things are so minor though. I love the unit and it sounds wonderful.

Pros: Great sound, easy install even for a newbie, looks great

Cons: Dims poorly, thin gauge wiring.

I bought this unit as an upgrade to my 2006 Toyota Tacoma stereo. Installation was simple and you can count on good support from Crutchfield. The unit is not so simple to use, specially when driving; on sunny days you won't be able to read the dial, not even when the dimmer is on high, which by the way only has two settings. When night driving, I found the illumination is too bright even on the lowest setting of the dimmer. The ability to set the illumination color according to the instruments panel's color is a nice feature. The sound has improved compared with the factory unit. The fit with the included bezel and brackets is good. Overall a good unit.

This may have been straight 5's until I noticed that it is now $10 LESS than what I paid for it earlier this month. This little unit does exactly what I wanted it to do, and vastly improves the safety (hands free) of my 2006 Toyota Highlander. Mostly great install directions (see below)

Pros: Great features, Better Bluetooth connectivity/performance than my Acura Easy install

Cons: As detailed as the instructions were for the radio, wiring harness, etc., there was NO mention of the microphone required for the handsfree phone. I had to improvise, there was no way I was going to have the wire draped across the dash, or clipped on the steering column. I was able to snake it through one of the heater/ac vents (so I can't use the hands free and the fan at the same time if I want to be heard). With such a great instruction set, how could Crutchfield has missed this?

Crutchfield response on 9/8/2014 When we saw Mr. Franzosa's review, we alerted our Tech Support team so they can help the customer find a better way to route that microphone wire. An external microphone is a key component to a good hands-free calling experience. Stereos with microphones built into the faceplate just can't pick up your voice as well. And we know how it feels to buy something and then have it the price drop the next day. The extra $10 in the price has been refunded to you!

The Pioneer FH-X700BT was surprisingly very easy to install. I purchased it for my daughter's hand-me-down 2004 Toyota Sequoia, when the OEM started acting up. I wanted to have a project I could work on with her that would be fun before she went off to college. My first problem was I ordered the wrong wiring harness. When I called Crutchfield I was immediately speaking (on a Saturday afternoon) with a tech who knew what stereo I had purchased without my even giving him my name or invoice number -amazing. Must be tied to the phone number. He explained that I ordered the wrong wiring housing, but that they would immediately ship the correct housing at no-charge. I declined and purchased it locally so I could finish the project that day. The directions were great and it was very easy to complete the project in about 2.5 hours. Not bad for someone who has never done this before. I would definitely use Crutchfield again due to their excellent customer service!

Pros: Easy to connect to iphone via Bluetooth. Easy install. Great customer service from Crutchfield. Perfect fit.

Cons: The changing colors would drive me up a wall. Luckily my daughter was able to lock it onto one color and then lower the brightness level on her own.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like everything about this radio except one thing --- it does not dim with the factory dimmer switch, which the original radio to the vehicle did. I do understand it is a variable voltage issue within the radio but did not realize it when I purchased it. The colors are too bright when traveling in darkened conditions. Yes, there are multiple colors to choose from & some are more subdued. It does have a dimming feature, but the impact is negligible. Consequently, it is adequate & I will keep the product. Just would have liked the dimmer to work. All other aspects of the radio are great ... great sound, very nice to have all my CD's on a thumb drive & able to play through the USB port, very easy to navigate from one source to another. Nice installation kit so it does look like a factory install. Additionally, the Bluetooth is very clear for the users on the other end. Was very easy to install in a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD.

Pros: Great sound, ease of use, nice to have multiple sources of input (USB, Aux, etc).

Cons: Lack of significant dimming ability for low light conditions.

I had a couple of technical issues and Crutchfield technicians were very patient and very professional even at 11pm! Overall I am very satisfied with this production and customer support.

Pros: Good value, nice features, great technical customer support from Crutchfield - this is main reason I decided to write review.

Cons: Installation instruction was not super clear - wiring and side bracket. Incomplete installation part and tool - plying tool and wire nuts.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I upgraded to this receiver because the factory receiver in my 2009 Cube wouldn't charge my iPod. I've purchased Pioneer receivers in the past and never had a complaint about them, the FH-X700BT is no exception. The unit itself is very solid and well built. Amazing sound for the price, can't think of anything negative about the unit. Grounding it to the chassis was easy enough as well. Although I had no need for the Metra mounting hardware that was sent with it, I used the factory brackets from the original receiver and it mounted right up with no problems.

Pros: Ease of use, Amazing sound for the price

Cons: Haven't run into any yet.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy install on a 2006 Toyota Camry. Make sure you get the ASWC-1 (option) to keep your steering wheel controls for the radio. Use the Metra 70-8114 harness (originally not supplied in kit or shown on Crutchfield website for this item; Crutchfield hooked me up after the sale on this item) to avoid cutting/ splicing into factory connection for steering wheel controls on many Toyota and Lexus models. Radio was truly plug and play thanks to Crutchfield kits and harnesses. You can tone down the light show on the radio dial/ face pretty easily, so don't pay attention to some of the negative comments on that.

Pros: Great Crutchfield customer service and shipping. Thanks very much.

    Cons: Nothing so far.

Coolness is not my thing, but value, build quality, and ease of use are. I am still having some problems navigating, but it's a lot better than the Alpine I got 3 years ago. I'm not so thrilled at the I this and I that in most descriptions, because I don't care about i or use i products, and I do wish things were a bit more catered to my android world. In general terms I like this head unit.

Pros: Fits well, and functions as it should and sounds good.

Cons: My main complaint is, as I have seen others complain, and that the color control, not easy to do, had to call to get help! I think you have to be under 30 to appreciate the light show and I'm 70, so it's not cool here.

    2006 Scion xA
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm happy with the radio. Not so much with difficult install. I have a 2006 Scion XA with a basic radio not equipped for iPod Touch. This radio was reasonably priced and had all the features I was looking for (except complete Bluetooth control which I was told was too advanced for my model). The reviews made it seem easy to install so it they gave me confidence to do it myself though I'd never done an install in my life. I was under the impression that Crutchfield would send all that I needed so started the job on a Saturday morning. Pulled out the old radio fairly easily after watching an online video. Next tried to fit the old harness onto the new radio using the adapters but found out the plastic needed to be sawed off in places. Since I wasn't aware the parts were not customized for my car, I improvised using a serrated knife (didn't own a saw). I injured my finger! I then noticed I lacked crimp caps and a wire stripper! That meant a trip to the hardware store. I tried to fit the dash back but found out an hour later that something inside had shifted out of position. Next day I did all the wire stripping and crimping and put the new radio in. It worked great. Later I saw that several outside lights weren't working. After a trip to the dealer (for which I had to pay) they fixed it. One of the wires was shorting out in the back. Not my fault but it was a tight fit. Moral of the story is sometimes it's better to pay for installation!

Pros: Nice looks Great sound Excellent features for iPod

Cons: Difficult to install for a novice Had electrical problems that dealer had to repair Didn't know in advance all parts/tools I would need

The unit performs so many functions and with quality for the price. But it is geeky in that the user interface is so layered and technical to use. The interface requires clicking, scrolling and selecting, in order to get to a basic adjustment. Can be overwhelming especially when driving. This is certainly geared toward the younger crowd. I suggest more dedicated buttons and rely less on the "universal" controls.

After installing the HU, I asked myself, "What was I waiting for?". My DD is the first car I ever purchased, back in 2000. The car was still running on a stock HU. No BT, does not read MP3, only radio. It comes to a point where I turn the stock HU off and just play music through my iPhone's speakers, yeah... One day I decided to browse Crutchfield and decided to go with a double DIN to make it look seamless. Stumbled upon this model after narrowing down my need/want and filtered by price point. Needless to say, I can't believe the great price I paid for this HU. Installation was a breeze especially with Crutchfield's tech support. I spoke to them once to clarify a few things such as my car's stock amp and how to tap into said amp with the wiring harness that I have. After that, it was all plug and play. Powered it on and connected my iPhone for testing purposes. It works flawlessly. Sound was amazing even with stock 14 year old speakers, I can't believe it. Best of all, this HU looks like it's part of the car, nothing too "space ship" looking. Overall, very impressed!

For around 150 bucks I get bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, and iPod and USB connectivity all in a package that dropped right into my existing factory spot in my 2001 Toyota Tacoma, what's not to love? Used the Metra factory adapter harness and everything fired up perfectly using my existing factory speakers. I was never able to find a spec for the power ratings on the factory Tacoma speakers so I was a little worried I might cook them right off the bat, but so far so good with moderate listening volume. The hardest part of the install was routing the microphone cable through my dash to the steering column, but well worth the effort. People on the other end of calls can actually hear me now! The only downsides to this deck are that it is a bit overwhelming to have to use all the menus (to the point that doing so while driving is impossible), and that it would be nice to have a backside USB port for routing an iPod cable into the glovebox.

I also installed the Axxess steering wheel control and the Tato amp controller. The whole system works great. Pandora links with my 5s and can be controlled by the head unit. Bluetooth connects pretty easy and works great for calls and music. iPod integration works great on the 5s as well. The color controller is a cool feature if you like your dash to be consistent. Only complaint would be it's not as deafeningly loud on the highway with the windows down. This is a minor issue. Overall it's a great value for the price point. Also a big thumbs up to the Crutchfield crew in general. Great customer service. Lefty helped me take the huge cluster of wires and hook it up flawlessly, which was no small achievement considering my lack of experience.

I selected this system because it fits perfectly with my 2003 Ford Expedition and it looked really cool, I like the features, and I really liked that the colors were customizable. When I first received it I was a little overwhelmed because I had taken the panel off my expedition, had everything out, wires were everywhere and to be honest I was near tears. I suppose the instructions were fine for someone who's done this before but I had never done it before I was trying to do it myself without anyone's help. So I called the number that Crutchfield listed and I spoke to Matt. He very calmly asked what was in front of me and I told him "wires are everywhere and I don't know what to do" He proceeded to tell me which wires to put where, he explained it to me clearly and I understood it perfectly. After I hung up with Matt I finished the job put everything back, took a deep breath and push the on button---honestly I thought that it wouldn't work but it worked perfectly! I was amazed and so proud that I had done it myself (with Matts help : ) it is awesome and I am getting lots of compliments on how great it sounds. I am very happy that I ordered it from Crutchfield!

Cons: The USB overtakes everything. So you're listening to Bluetooth audio, and someone plugs their phone in to the USB to charge, and it switches to the USB.

I've installed many car stereos and this one was by far the easiest. It used the factory mounts and fit into the opening perfectly. I have been buying all my car audio from Crutchfield for several years now because of price and service. I had a wiring question and the tech was able to anticipate what I was asking which showed his experience. I will continue to purchase all my car audio from them and will even start looking to them for more electronic needs.

Pros: Easy installation Good sound Great functionality Clean interface Good price Great fit

Cons: As with most new products it seemed a bit flimsy but once installed it really doesn't matter.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this receiver specifically to add Bluetooth connectivity for my iPhone for both sound and hands free phone operation. Installed in a 2004 Ford Explorer with minimal effort due primarily to the excellent wiring and installation instructions provided by the master sheets. Most of the time to install was hooking up the wiring harness - not tough just lots of wires. Got great advice on the panel tools from my product advisor and the installation kit parts all fit like glove. Connected easily with my iPhone via Bluetooth. Sound is better than the stock CD changer and radio I replaced even with the stock speakers. Operation of all the various modes was a little bit of a learning curve but if you read the first part of the operating instructions the rest is pretty explanatory. I missed a couple of common functions because I jumped to the specific instructions. All and all very pleased with unit and exceptionally pleased with the "legendary" Crutchfield customer service.

Pros: Great value and works as described - what else do you want?

Cons: Only con is for those of us who have a tendency to skip the introductory operating instructions. Might miss a few critical functions and have to go back and "READ THE @&$!-ing MANUAL" like we should have to being with.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like Pioneer products so brand loyalty was what first draw me to this unit. It offers quality and amazing value for the price. It fits perfectly in my '11Chevrolet Aveo5 LT. The stock GM radio sucked big time so this Pioneer is a great upgrade. Sounds great and powerful even with stock speakers. The Bluetooth pairs instantly with my LG F6. Calls are clear and loud. The downside, in my opinion, is the intense non stop light show and cumbersome menus. The lightning way to bright even with the dimmer on. Anything is burried in sub menus into more sub menues. Maybe im old but i can do without the intense light show. On the other hand, the unit itself if solid, glossy faceplate, nice sturdy buttons, handy remote, awesome Bluetooth, clear calls through microphone and speakers. And the price can't be beaten! I do recommend this Pioneer. It simply offers more for your buck. But if you get discomforted by bright lights at night them think twice about this unit!

Pros: Value for the money. Pioneer quality. Loaded with features. Bluetooth. Remote. Looks pretty!

Cons: Lights are too intense and juvenile. Even dim down they are BRIGHT!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit to replace the stock in my CR-V back in December 2013. I installed the installed this in January 2014. It's been this best buy I've made on a stereo in a long time. The installation went seamless and was done in less than a day. I left the unit to change colors on its own instead of my programming the colors. Using the Bluetooth it was I really love about this unit. When I receive calls or make calls, no one knows that I am driving. They assume I'm at home. I like the options that I have in using an iPod (which I own), playing music through the Bluetooth or using the aux input. I rarely listen to the radio because of too many commercials and the repetition.

Pros: -clear Bluetooth calls, I can be heard as long as my sunroof and windows are closed. -many choices of colors. -different ways of listening to music which can last for hours. -ease of installation.

Cons: -when receiving calls, the numbers can be seen by passengers. -some colors are too bright at night. -so many menu options, the manual is very explanatory.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this because I wanted a wireless connection to my phone and I had a double-DIN sized hole to fill. The unit works just fine, looks pretty good, but the instruction manual is not as helpful as it could be. I have a few minor complaints about the visual design, but overall I'd say I got what I payed for. I would prefer to have a unit with a more refined, mature, appearance that matches my car interior, but such a thing does not exist for a reasonable price.

Pros: Unit works exactly like it was supposed to. It has good sound and all the features work. My phone connects automatically and all the Bluetooth features work. The default color-changing mode is entertaining without being distracting.

Cons: The "dimmer" is not a variable adjustment, but has only two settings: "Bright" and "Not So Bright". Unique design looks like a non-square shape stuck in a square hole in the dash. It should have come with a custom faceplate to make it blend in better. The power-on switch for the automatic antenna raises the antenna even when it's not needed.

This car stereo is a great bang for the buck and Crutchfield has it priced $20 cheaper than another retailer (yeah, I was surprised that they carried it)! Very easy install and although a basic stereo, has all the features to keep my daughter happy. She says it makes her '99 Altima a whole new car. The bluetooth synced easily and flawlessly with her iPhone and the sound quality with attached microphone mounted to the steering column gives her great sound quality for calls over BT.

Pros: Easy install, great value, great features.

Cons: Seems like they took a single DIN radio and put it in a double DIN chassis. The 'look' is a bit clunky until you throw in the Mitrax features - jazzes it up a bit.

I recently installed this deck in my wife's '07 Mustang (Shaker 500 stereo). Installation was a breeze - thanks to Crutchfield for help (2 times). I soldered the wiring and shrink-tubed the connections. I had a small issue with the deck alignment with the supplied mounting hardware. Not a big issue... Value: I gave it 5/5 stars. Even in CDN dollars, this unit is still a good deal. Sound quality: I give it 4/5 stars. It's hard to judge the sound since I am still using factory speakers. Ease Of Use: I gave 3/5 stars. This deck isn't the most simplistic to use. Lots of features bundled into the unit! Not hard to figure out, just not the most user-friendly. Coolness Factor: Well.. I'm 48 years old so the "Coolness Factor" is lost on me. The back-light combinations are nice, they can be set to match the lights of the car. Build Quality: I gave 3/5 stars. The quality seems too cheap for me. I wish I had gone with the double-din Alpine deck (probably the same build quality). The plastic front is easily scratched.

Pros: Affordable; easy to install (no need to hire a professional!); good sound quality; bluetooth works great.

Cons: Build quality; Too many menus to go through to set/adjust items.

This unit replaces the factory 6 CD changer in my 2005 Explorer. At first I was a little intimidated about doing the install myself but after spending a few moments looking at the wireing, I decided that I could handle it. It worked first time and I LOVE the Bluetooth feature. The sould quality is great and once I got used to how the big dial worked and a few other buttons I was off to the races. This is a great unit to upgrade your old original equipment unit.

Pros: Great Bluetooth conectivity. Very easy to use once you set it up and play with it a little. Remote is an added bonus that I find I use often. The handsfree phone feature works well as long as you place the mic correctly.

Cons: A little hard to figure out how to set up and operate functions but that's part of the fun too. Once you get the hang of it, no problem.

This head unit is nice for $149. Put it in my wife's 2004 Envoy. Simple install, tons of colors and conbanations to choose from. At first it was hard for me to work ALL the controls from the 1 knob but after playing with it for a few days I caught on. Wife loves the Bluetoooth. She has an android type phone, it linked right to it. Even though she can't speak the name to call, her phone book is stored inside the stereo and she can leave the phone in her purse on the floor and still make calls or stream music from bluetooth audio like pandora. Sound quality is decent, just like any other Pioneer i've had, haven't tryed the mixtrax yet. I thought it would be more complicated but it's really a pretty simple stereo with some cool features.

Pros: Good sound, plenty of color choices, bt audio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This stereo is simple and really does everything well flaw. It has one major flaw. It is extremely bright, insanely bright. The videos and pictures don't do it justice. It is disappointing, because you get it installed, it works and sounds great, but it looks absolutely ridiculous AND is very distracting at night. NOTE: you can dim the display, but it dims the display by about 5%, no major difference NOTE ALSO: the unit does not automatically dim with your dash lights at night If you don't mind the lighting, or if you like bright flashing lights in your car, you will like this stereo. It is very easy to use, navigate and control. Crutchfield, as always, sends great installation details which make everything easier. It is a shame that the lighting is so extreme, and not adjustable, otherwise this thing would be fantastic.

Pros: Features at this price, simple and easy to use. Sounds great.

Cons: WAY, WAY, WAY too bright. You can't turn off the huge lights or turn them down in any meaningful way.

As much as I cringe to type the words "It's so much better than stock!" -which should be a given -this deck really did improve my stock sound immensely. The quality of the head unit makes the most of stock speakers, delivering much better sound reproduction and feel. Without further ado, the pros and cons:

Pros: -The look: There really is a lot of visual customization available to an already aesthetically pleasing design. Perhaps it's cheesy, but... I really like the "scan" setting for the face/keys lighting. It's a little added flair. - The quality: As mentioned, even with stock speakers, the sound is great for its price. Knob and buttons are satisfying, build quality seems impeccable. - The features: Bluetooth functionality is a breeze

Cons: - The USB port: it says it's high-powered, but don't expect it to charge your device. It won't.

    2004 Toyota Sienna
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little head unit for the money. Biggest drawback is the display illumination which is too dim during the day and too bright at night. There's no tie-in to the vehicle's illumination levels so the brightness is manual (although it's simply a long-press on one of the buttons). Unfortunately, the difference between "normal" and "dim" is barely perceptible. In order for the brightness to be at safe levels for night driving, daytime levels will be invisible. Also lacks a tie-in to the vehicle speed sensor signal for compensating volume for road noise.

Pros: Easy to install with supplied harness and add-on factory integration modules

Cons: Illumination - Too dim during the day, too bright at night.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I haven't changed a car stereo since the 1960's. Things have changed a lot since then. The OEM radio had some burned out lights and wouldn't play CDs easily. I bought this unit to replace it and I had 1 question which Crutchfield answered immediately. The OEM radio came out and this unit went in quiet easily. The stereo sounds and looks great even with the original speakers. I paired it with my Android phone and my iPod. Everything works as advertised. If I would have replaced the OEM radio at the dealership, it would have cost me at least $200 more for a reconditioned unit.

Pros: Looks Great Sounds Great Easy to use.

Cons: The radio out of the box was scanning through all these colors which I found distracting. But I stopped the scan and picked a color that I could see both in the Daytime and Nighttime and I'm happy Not really a con, just a setup issue.

I'm so glad I ran into an old friend who turned me on to Crutchfield while I was shopping for a new car stereo at a local retailer. The EXACT same stereo was over $150 more and the speakers $100 more expensive than Crutchfield's price. Not to mention they wanted $29 each for wiring harnesses that Crutchfield supplied with my order AND $200 for installation that by using the easy to follow in Crutchfield instructions took me less than an hour to do. In all I saved over $500 and had my stereo delivered to my door in only 3 days. I recommend Crutchfield to anyone looking for superior quality car audio at unbeatable prices.

This receiver had exactly what I was looking for and delivered. I installed it in my 06 Tacoma and in the color options I was able to find almost the exact match for the interior. I use the bluetooth option more than the radio tuner which is the main reason I got it. I listen to Pandora through my android phone, Samsung S3. The radio and my phone sync a few seconds after I start up the truck and haven't had one problem so far.

Pros: Bluetooth works great USB on the front Nice big volume knob Cheap Price No touch screen to smear finger prints on Sounds great with enough options to mess around with to get it sounding nice for the average user looking to upgrade from a stock radio It is everything it claims to be and nothing more or less

Cons: Very Bright even with the dimmer function on Can't really see the screen with any kind of sunlight hitting it It is what it is, a cheap upgrade without tons of bells and whistles - not a con really but you aren't going to win any awards with it so don't expect any more than what it says it can do

This is a nice radio for the money, my main complaint is the brightness of the colors. It's OK during the day but at night it is crazy bright and there is no way to dim it down anymore than "dimmer on" which is still too bright for my preference. It does NOT incorporate with the factory dash light dimmer switch as all steroes I've had in the past have done. I would not purchase this again for this reason.

Pros: Bluetooth, lots of options for colors of lighting, sounds great

I read the reviews on this head unit and heard the recurring "display is too bright." Unless your eyes are extremely sensitive or the head unit is directly in front of your face this isn't that bright. The sound is exactly what you would expect from a pioneer unit. Great investment.

I purchased this to upgrade my OEM stereo on a 2007 Toyota. I was looking mainly to add bluetooth / handsfree calling but the extras including the Aux and USB ports are an added bonus. It isn't the highest end stereo in the world, but for the price it gave me everything I was looking for. I definitely am happy with the purchase!

Pros: Price Ease of use Functionality USB port reads MP3 files from flash drive

Cons: Some people say it is too bright, I think the lights are just fine. If anything, it sometimes isn't bright enough on a real sunny day.

    What ?

If you are looking for a complicated radio that it takes a PHD to operate than this is the one for you. Really, why can't I just turn it on and listen without needing to memorize the manual? The annoying light show is particularly bothersome to those of us that do not miss Disco.

    Pros: It sounds fine

Cons: Annoying flashing lights. Overly complicated operation.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this radio to install in a 2007 Honda Civic. It was a hassle to have to replace the entire center dash to accommodate it but it was worth it. I like being able to have my entire music library on a USB stick that can be plugged in. The Bluetooth function works fine with my Android phone and with my iPod touch. The setup function took a while to get used to, it has many more options and adjustments than the factory radio does. The major disappointment with this device is that the display is too bright at night and almost impossible to read in the daytime when the sun is very bright. The Dim Off/On doesn't really seem to have any effect on the actual brightness. It took hours of research to discover the wiring connections between the adaptor kit and the connectors furnished by the Pioneer. Once I got the appropriate info, the work went quickly. Next project: replacing the front and rear speakers.

Pros: Nice sound, adequate power for the factory speakers. Nice variety of inputs.

Cons: User guide needs much clearer info on how to wire the speakers, it's about the most confusing I've ever seen. The display needs more range between the Dim off and on settings.

The unit performs as advertised. It does everything well with no real complaints. The FM tuner is better than original equipment, the MP3 player from USB is very good, and the ability to mold the sound with the equalizer is better than expected. The only downside I can find is the distracting display when in Mix mode.

Pros: The FM tuner is very good picking up distant stations without overlap. The Bluetooth works flawlessly. The USB MP3 player is very good.

Cons: The display is distracting when in Mix mode. The design doesn't fit the design of the dash of my Volvo.

Cons: 1) Audio on phone via bluetooth is not good. Even if I remove the mic from set it give HISS sound to the party you called. It is not easy to listen in noisy condition. 2) Play, pause, repeat button are not obvious and very less user friendly 3) Main circular button could have been used better (it just does volume and menu most of the time) 4) Antenna (if you have powered one) is always up if unit is on - even if you are not on radio

    Cosmetic flaws sink radio

geos from chicago, il on 3/5/2014

Generally nice cheap radio, but a few stupid flaws ruin the entire experience. Bright neon lights advertised as offering thousands of color combinations - except no soft lighting, dimming (dimmer does nothing) or off mode. Station info does not work in most USA cities, but rather than just displaying blank screen, error message "Missing Info" repeated flashes nonstop while tuner is on. Repeating display animation is annoying and has no off button, but then neither does the radio. Finally, the user guide is worthless, unfortunately the controls are extremely confusing (for example there are no markings for Volume or Channel Select, let alone display settings) so a good manual is critical but nonexistent..

Pros: Good sound. I like the WiFi compatibility and USB port.

Cons: Bright neon lights can't be turned down or off. Display options limited and all bad. Station info does not work in most USA cities. Error message "Missing Info" flashes nonstop while tuner is on. Display animation is annoying and has no off button. No off button on the radio. Confusing setup and controls.

After installing this receiver, I like it as much as I did when I first saw it online. It functions similarly to previous Pioneer receivers I have used. The ability to customize display colors or have them change dynamically is very cool. Radio, CD, and iPod all work well for playing music (and podcasts on my iPod). I was able to easily connect my android phone over bluetooth; I haven't tried calling yet, as I haven't hooked up the mic. I'm still learning how to use some of the more advanced features - just remember there is a menu for most things by pushing the multi-control knob, kind of like a right-click menu on a computer.

My stock radio for my 2002 Honda Accord, locked after a service call caused in which the battery was disconnected. I used this as a good excuse to upgrade to a new system. With support from a Crutchfield service rep I decided on a nice mid range Pioneer head unit. What made this experience awesome was the confidence that Crutchfield instilled in me by making the install clear and easy. All the necessary gear was provided as well as directions with pictures for my make and model car. In the end when I sat back and saw the awesome stereo that I installed, it made the stereo seem just that much more special.

Pros: This unit is well equipped for under 200 dollars. It has Bluetooth for music and for for hands free calling. Many little add-ins and features that are fun to play with but I don't really use.

Cons: Not many, the power is a little low, but I knew that going in. The controls were a little confusing at first but now seem fine.

For my 2004 Sequoia this double-din stereo was the perfect replacement radio. I wasn't looking for GPS or Video features, but rather a great look, the EQ features, USB, and Bluetooth capabilities. It has all these things. The only downside was that the unit has no power antenna feature that would allow the antenna to lower when the radio is not being used. The only way to lower the antenna is to hold the Source button down for a couple seconds to essentially turn off the unit. This is important to remember when running the vehicle through a car wash. All in all it is an excellent value.

Pros: Pioneer build quality, sound quality, play through USB (when I want to charge) or bluetooth, Bluetooth phone calls, looks and fits perfect.

Cons: The colors which are really cool, are way too bright at night. There is a dimmer but it's barely noticeable and not enough. I usually change to a red or something that's not so obnoxious. Also, some colors are hard to see the screen during the day with sunlight.

    2008 Chrysler Town and Country
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace the factory stereo in our 2008 Town And Country van and we could not be happier with it. Cruthfield's install instructions were great for taking the old stereo out and putting in the new. However, I had never done this sort of thing before so, I looked up several YouTube videos on connecting a wiring harness and decided to use crimp caps and heat shrink tubing. If I can do this from just looking at a few videos, so can you. The stereo allows all kinds of sound adjustments (I like booming bass but had to tone that down from the default setting) and made my blue toothed streamed music sound fantastic on the factory speakers that I just left in place. I did not want to replace the speakers unless I had to and can only imagine how much better this thing would sound if I had. It honestly has more features than I think I will use and I like that since it gives me options for future upgrades if I want them. Since our van is the base model (DX) there is no amp, subwoofer or premium sound system but my new Pioneer stereo makes it feel like there is and my wife is very pleased with her birthday present. She used to jump in my car for quick trips to the store, etc., but now opts for her van instead. She really likes streaming music from her iPhone, answering/making calls hands free and listening to Pandora on the road. Now I am thinking about what I want to install in my car!

Pros: Better sound than the factory unit even without upgrading the speakers! Many, many settings/adjustments possible. If you have a subwoofer, amplifier, premium speakers, etc., these will be fun things to play around with and you will notice an even better sound improvement than I did. The microphone picks up a clear signal from multiple settings (dashboard, visor, etc.)

    Cons: None.

    Good radio

Pros: I have aftermarket front speakers pioneer in the front and the stocks in the back of my 2006 chevy cobalt. It really improved the quality and the loudness of my speakers. Noticed though that the rear speakers started to distort a little with the bass boast turned on and the volume cranked up. But that's on the speakers not the radios fault. Easy to use and to sync to your phone, good product and at its price you can't really beat it. Would buy again.

Cons: Dimmer is a joke, a little bright at night but easy to get used to, course I'm 22 years old. Wish it had a built in mic, but you get a corded one, problem is though the input for the mic is located at the front right underneath the USB port. Look trashy with the cord right there. Would have been better to have it in the back so you can run it under the dash go underneath the pillar and clip it to the sunviser. Then you would only have a little cord sticking out. But that's just me.

Looks great and the colors are really cool :) It looks like its out of a Tron movie. My only wish is for the volume control dial to feel a little more solid. It feels somewhat cheap.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My factory radio was just old enough to not have an aux port and a CD player, so only option to get music from iPod to the car stereo was an FM transmitter .... And they really leave a lot to be desired. I'd been looking for a Bluetooth solution and found this receiver. It works great, and was easy to install. Love the Bluetooth phone running through the rafik also and the ease of connecting to the phone book on your phone through the unit. I was using a retrofit Bluetooth unit that hung in the visor, but sound and mic quality on this unit is so much better. Only thing I'm not really impressed with is the lighting scheme..... It's a little over the top but the kids think it's cool ... So completely a preference thing. I selected some subdued colors and it looks fine. All up I have been really impressed with the unit, and I have to say that the process of buying it through Crutchfield was a breeze. Loved how simple they made the buying process, the install instructions and master sheets made all the difference. I went back and bought another unit for the other car the next week. The wife is getting it for valentine's day. She was jealous I could stream pandora in the car ... Great buying experience and a great receiver. You can't go wrong for the price with all that functionality.

Pros: Bluetooth access Bluetooth phone works great Sounds great with factory speakers

Cons: I use a blackberry 9300 and I can't have wifi on at same time as Bluetooth .... The wifi signal causes interference with Bluetooth music streaming ... Even when driving without a wifi signal Color scheme is a little over the top

I have made several purchases from Cruchfield over the last few years, but this is by far the best. The pioneer unit does everything it claims, flawlessly. As usual,Crutchfield provided everything necessary, including telephone support, to make a very easy install. The hardest part was removing the trim in my 2007 mustang. The provided wiring harness fires up my factory amplifiers and subwoofers perfectly.the bluetooth automatically paired with my android phone, even though the package only mentioned working with an iphone. Both phone and Pandora music are very easy to control from the head unit, and the phones internal phone book is automatically transferred to the radio. This pioneer unit is much more than I hoped for.A great sounding, feature rich unit that also looks great in the car.And thanks to the Crutchfield tech guys for making the install so easy for an old low-tech guy like me.

Pros: looks great-rich sound-easy bluetooth operation

Cons: display is a little bright at night, and can't be dimmed, even though the unit has a dimmer button

Great Unit that does Everything you need!

Justin from Fort Worth, TX on 2/10/2014

I made the Install a cpl weeks ago and all the extra FREE supplied installation equipment made it SO EASY! The Bluetooth Connectivity is great and the endless adjustments of all the separate sound frequency ranges allows you to dial in the exact sould you're looking for! And the fact that you have 2 separate entire frequency range adjustments, one for your component speakers and one for your Subwoofer, lets your tweak to get exactly what you want as far as sound goes, from your speakers and your Sub! It gives you alot of color adjustment between the display and the keys separately, or allows you to make them both the same color. Its pretty bright and can be a little overwhelming at night, but thats the only small complaint I can find about the unit as a whole. Overall I am more than happy with the this head unit!

Pros: Alot of custom sound frequency adjustments allows for that exact sound you're looking for.

Cons: The Dimmer option for the display only dims the brightness one step lower. It'd be nice to have multiple brightness options on the dimmer to help it not be so bright at night.

This stereo is very good. When I was choosing I was slightly cautious due to the fact that everyone was saying that it was too bright, but i have absolutetly no problems with the brightness. The variety of colors is gigantic and is suited to fit any style. I put it in my 2005 Scion Tc and it fits and looks very nice. I had no troubles installing due to simple directions from Crutchfeild, and a few videos on youtube. I will say the stereo is quite spendy but most double-dins are and I really didnt want a gaping hole below my stereo. Its probly one of the cheapest double din's unless you get one w/out bluetooth which I wouldn't recomend because with bluetooth i can get in my car, not even have to plug it in, and have all my music instantly playing for me. Also if i get a call while driving it starts to ring and at the push of a button i answer the call. I can't say there was any signifigant change in sound quality, but still all around an amazing stereo. Great quality, good stereo. dont listen to the bad reviews cause their picky and it takes an $800 stereo to make them happy.

Pros: Quality, Variety of colors, convieneince, ease of install, and value

Cons: Nothing really, maybe brightness but not a real problem at all

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, its a great deal on a unit that gets the job done. Personally, I think the unit is ugly. The screen is very bright. You can only dim it so much which gets annoying during long nighttime drives. Also, just strip the wires Pioneer! Did you really need to save 5 cents. The wires are VERY VERY thin. Much thinner then the stock unit or another unit I looked at. My leathermen didnt have a small enough tool for it and it was difficult trying to hand cut each wire b/c they were so thin. I had to go out and buy a wire stripper. It was the smallest size for even a dedicated tool.

Pros: -Happy to get a bluetooth set w/ good power that works with my andriod samsung galaxy 3 -Many color options -Quick load time while cycling through inputs -Decent power and sound quality

Cons: -just strip the wires pioneer -BRIGHT -Who needs a remote in a car? leave it out and drop the price. -The Crutchfield guide is not that great. I ended up watching YouTube videos on how to disassemble the dash. It did not include concise info on what to do with each wire(note, ive never done this before) The unit guide did not have much info on the wires so I just matched wire color, which the crutchfield guide says not to do...Worked out fine in the end.

I've worked with and installed many car stereos over the years. I was very impressed by the overall quality and list of features offered with this inexpensive unit. The programming was simple and quick, and the features all do what they claim. Obviously, there are higher-end units available with more features, but for the money you would be hard pressed to beat this stereo.

Pros: Great control over programmable audio features, sounds very good. The Bluetooth feature with remote microphone works great; people don't know i'm speaking to them through my care stereo.

Cons: Lighting Dimmer could have a greater range; and a light sensor for auto dimming (day-time vs. night-time) would be a plus.

    2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Did some quite a bit research in order to get the most bang for my buck for my son's 2000 Eclipse. I scoured the web and brick a mortar shops but i kept returning to Crutchfield for some reason. After being at an impasse and with my sons's birthday looming, I decided to open a chat with Crutchfield, give them my price cap and see what they'd recommend. Andy recommended this head unit along with a set of rear speakers and he emailed me the pre populated shopping cart with everything I would need to install (most of which was free!). More questions surfaced . So I opened up chat again and spoke to Abe. I explained that my son was really into bass but that we (I!) was not ready to delve into Subs just yet, He adjusted the Cart with a set of Kicker speakers that he said really would bring out bass. I pulled the trigger and the order arrived in less than 24 hours (PA). My son was thrilled and even though I had worked a 13 hour day and had driven home in a snow storm, I couldnt deny him. So we installed it last night. Out of the box I had a single question about color code on the wiring. I called the 800 number got a a quick direct answer (i.e the colors directly match the supplied wiring harness). It took us (novices) 2 hours to install and when we were done were blown away by the performance of this unit! It even sounded good through (later discovered) blownout factory speakers. Amazing features, great sound, reasonable price and great service. What more can you ask?

Pros: Great and numerous features Kickin' sound Grear quality for the $$$ Great install instructions Great Customer Service

Cons: If I had to name a Con it would be that I Didnt realize that wire stripping was involved....the unit harness must be mated with the supplied harness via connectors). As other reviewers have said, display is quite bright (but very cool) my 17 y.o. loves it! And you can choose colors that are more subdued. This is not a "conservative" unit its bold and feature packed.

Installed this receiver 4 days ago. It took about 2 hours, the longest part was wiring the two harnesses together. This was the only part I was unsure of doing myself, and the instructions crutchfield sent along with youtube videos made it a breeze. I personally don't think the colors are too bright at night, but I don't have particularly sensitive eyes. There is no limit to the color combos you can have for the display and the surrounding buttons and bezel. The Bluetooth streaming audio works great, as well as the calls. Tested on the highway and people say they can hear me loud and clear. Overall a great deal and a much needed improvement in my 2002 accord.

Pros: A ton of features for a good price and looks better in my opinion than a single din receiver with a gap underneath it.

Cons: The radio station info comes in, however depending on how your radio stations broadcast the info, you may get one line with all the info and the other two with "no data" or "no artist" tags. Looked online and there's no way to turn off the other two lines. Just a minor complaint though.
