    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's better than the (Clarion) unit it replaced, and the sound is good, but the interface is atrocious. Between the two of us, my wife and I have six college degrees (in technical subjects), and we can't figure out how to get half the features to work, even with the manual right in front of us. We'll eventually learn how to use the two or three features we really need, and forget about the rest. The price was right, though.

    Pros: Good price.

Cons: Incomprehensible interface, badly written manual.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought it for my son 2003 Jetta. Fits great (no modification necessary) east to install (less than an hour). I wanted my son to have Bluetooth capability. I ordered another unit inadvertently without Bluetooth. A quick call to Crutchfield with this model picked out and they sent it right out to me even before I sent back the wrong unit back, even swap price wise (Crutchfield picked up the postage). Very happy with the radio and especially with Crutchfield's customer service

Pros: Fit well. Did not have to modify vehicle even though instructions called for removing original radio bracket. Good price for an older vehicle. Ease of use. Good sound adjustment qualities.

Cons: Bluetooth is sometimes slow to connect but fine once connected.

    Good buy!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good value for the price. Could not believe how much it improved my factory speakers. Much crisper sound and improvement on the bass. Bluetooth is wonderful! Agree with everyone else that you can't see the display when its bright outside, but that doesn't bother me.

Pros: Much better sound - bluetooth works great - great value for the money

Cons: Can't see display very well during daytime.

Great unit, it's my second one so that says something. The bluetooth capabilities of this unit is what has me as a return customer. My phone and the unit link up without me having to touch a thing each and every time without fail. I also really enjoy being able to switch the colors accents to match the rest of the my vehicle. In terms of performance, it more than enough to bring your stock speakers to life or give ample power to your after market speakers.

Pros: Great Price Very functional There's a newer model to look forward too

Cons: Doesn't come with free speakers

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install was fairly easy. I had to call in for some assistance on the harness. I soldered my connections so it took a bit longer. The unit is nice looking and simple enough to provide what I need. I purchased this unit so I could stream audio over BT as my stock Tacoma radio did not support his feature. I was able to retain my Tacome steering wheel controls and and I can now summon Siri. The dash kit was easy to install and the overall fit and finish looks very good. However, I cannot recommend this unit to everyone. I'd actually return it but I'm too lazy to swap the harness, undo my connections, etc. The designers must have lived in a cave or something because the display is 100% useless during daylight hours. I mean useless. I cannot see what is being displayed on the unit at all...nada, zip, zilch. I wonder how such a flaw can get past the team at Pioneer and make it to production. However, If you are a night owl and only drive your car when the sun has left the hemisphere then you're in luck - the deck looks wicked. Perhaps it was this demographic that Pioneer was after?

    Pros: Functions, sound, ease-of-use

Cons: display leaves a lot to be desired

    Nice Head Unit

Will from Atlanta, GA on 7/31/2016

    2008 Chevrolet Silverado
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great looking head unit from Pioneer. I usually always go with Kenwood because of their sound quality, but took a chance with this one. Looks really cool and is very easy to navigate through its menus. Bluetooth and variable colors is also a major plus. I paired this with 4 Polk MM651 speakers, which is Polk's top of the line speakers and are very powerful. I am giving it 4 stars only because of the sound quality. Have those speakers in my other car with a Kenwood head unit and they sound a little better, but I'm just very picky. Overall though, great head unit for the money.

Pros: Looks cool, Bluetooth, color variable, easy to navigate

Cons: Need an amp if using this head unit with powerful speakers

    2004 Pontiac Vibe
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a pioneer bluetooth deck on my own vehicle 6 years ago so I kind of know how things go. This time around I opted to buy from Crutchfield with all the right accessories for my wife's 2004 Vibe, it's just easier. And there are some dash mount kit that are so poorly made they just won't fit into your vehicle even if their website says otherwise. Crutchfield has that extra level of safety and i don't have to go to 3 different store to buy parts for a 12th year old vehicle. Anyway, onto the deck: I like Pioneer's sound and their user interface, this unit operates mostly like the one I got 6 years ago. Sounds good for everyday driving, the only thing that bugged me is the lack of mute button on the deck. You can turn the main dial to lower volume but that dial is super smooth surfaced and I prefer panic-jabbing a button rather than a delicate turning wheel. Just a preference. As others have mentioned, the LCD screen is pretty dim regardless of brightness level. This is made even more apparent by the surrounding lights which are brighter for an unknown reason. Design-wise I went with double-din because of the big buttons, and because the mini-cubby that comes with a single din faceplate is pretty narrow, not easy to dig your stuff out of it. The shifting light feature is cool for about 10 seconds, much like a commercial paying homage to the 00's. For the price though still love it. Shipping is fast, packed very well with al

Pros: ease of use, good sound. well made.

Cons: No mute button on deck. Only have mute button on remote.

Great Radio for a Great Price

Brady E from Salt Lake City, UT on 7/7/2016

    2007 Toyota Corolla
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This radio is great! Whenever I am about to purchase something (especially technology), I look online to see what sort of ratings/reviews the product has. This product is currently the highest rated double-din car receiver on their site. When I got it, it was exactly what I thought it would be and more. I did not upgrade the factory speakers in my car, but after putting this radio in, my music sounds a lot better! Also, when I tried out the bluetooth calling feature, my buddy on the other end of the line told me that the sound quality matched that of a regular phone call.

Pros: -Lighting looks cool. -Bluetooth. -Great audio output.

    Cons:

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Amazingly easy to install. This stereo is fantastic! I am by no stretch of the imagination handy at anything. However, since I didn't have the extra $200 (extra cost of stereo vs. Crutchfield plus install) I decided to take a chance and install this stereo myself into a 2003 Toyota Corolla S. Thanks to YouTube it was a cinch. Plus Crutchfield made it even better by providing the correct cables and mount for free. I am definitely buying from Crutchfield again. This stereo sounds perfect, is super easy to use, looks cool, and the Bluetooth conversations are so much better than with a headset. The switch between car and phone is seamless and I love how I just turn on my car and Pandora starts up where it left off or my Audible book continues from where it was, just amazing. Highly recommended!!!

Pros: Excellent Bluetooth Phone Conversations. Seamless connection from phone to Bluetooth audio. Easy to use. Design is great. Colors are a plus.

    Cons:

I like the sound, look, and function of this radio. It is easy to use. I really like the button operation as opposed to touch screen. This is much simpler when driving. It interfaced well with my 2007 Ford Edge steering wheel controls and the Bluetooth works great with my phone.

Pros: Easy to use. Great look and sound. The display color is adjustable.

Cons: The clock display is very difficult to see during the daylight hours.

This thing is freaking great! I got it for the Bluetooth functionality and it really delivers. As a side note, my daughter loves getting to pick the colors for the face. You can pick two colors or have it monochrome. That's a fun little feature.

Cons: Fairly clunky placement of skip buttons

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Radio was SO easy to install but after installation I regretted purchasing this radio for this car. The 2006 Hyundai Sonata's stock radio I did this install on had A digital read out that was just fine, no viewing problems. This radios' display is so dim in daylight it's basicly unusable. Display brightness is set to 10. and yes, its' installed correctly. Any light hitting the display will wash it out making daytime usage close to impossible

Pros: Sound Quality Blutooth phone Operation Fairly flexible set up setting ioptions

Cons: Display brightness is just terrible!! It you rely on the radio in the daytime for the clock display get a watch! Better yet look elsewhere as this problem is commonplace in the whole Pioneer series of radios

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice stereo for the price. The sound quality with my Bose system is awesome and is so much better than the factory stereo. I highly recommend this stereo. I installed it in a 2004 Chevy 2500hd and purchased Crutchfield's wiring harness and the harness for the steering wheel controls. I recommend you buy these harnesses because they are inexpensive and really give you a clean install. I also recommend you solder the harnesses together. I initially just twisted the harness wires to test it (which some people do permanently) and I had a humming sound from the speakers probably from a bad ground connection, so after I soldered all the wires that went away. You won't go wrong with this product or Crutchfield!!

Pros: Looks and sounds great, easy to use, lots of control for adjusting the sound the way you like it.

    Cons: None!

The step by step easy to navigate website was outstanding from filling out your car info and seeing what all fits your car takes the guessing game out. And the wiring harness and trim kit ESPECIALLY was a plus I will always look into crutchfield for all my audio needs

'01 Acura MDX. The factory radio with 6-disc in dash CD changer finally gave out in my wife's car. If I could get it, a factory unit was going to be anywhere from $800-1000, sorry not gonna happen. I searched for an under-seat changer like I used in the old days, but couldn't find one. Finally, I remembered Crutchfield. Thank goodness. My advisor recommended this as a "baseline" unit and it has gotten me some Huge points and thanks with my wife. At first she insisted on a multi-disc changer. Then she realized she could play all of the music from her MP3 player and her IPhone, she's gone nuts. He sent me the part number for the dash adapter and the wiring harness and even for an old guy (50) it was very painless. Thanks Crutchfield

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The last Pioneer stereo I installed was an under dash "green eye" in the early 70's, so I figured I should be qualified to install one in my daughters Explorer. It was much easier than I anticipated. Spent 45 minutes soldering up a couple of harnesses and about an hour installing in the truck. Set up was easy and this thing really lit up the factory speakers and sub!

Pros: Ease of installation. I made 2 calls with questions on install, and the Crutchfield techs were immediately able to answer my questions. I was very impressed with the tech support. The steering wheel controls work great. Voice quality, and bluetooth audio is very good. This unit has a lot of custom settings for both audio and visuals.

Cons: The dials feel a bit flimsy compared to factory units but seem to function well. Some features are hidden into menus that aren't real intuitive... I actually had to open the owners manual to re-pair a phone after a reset. I might have to get one of these things for my Ford too!

Needed to replace factory radio in 2006 Honda Civic Coupe son drives to comply with cell phone hands-free law. This radio offers all that is needed to comply with the law and much more for my son to access his phone's music. Install with the discounted gear that Crutchfield has available made this a very cost effective project. My son is quite pleased with the unit's integration with his iPhone. While not as impressive as a 7 inch touch screen unit, this Pioneer is quite capable and much more cost effective.

    2005 Pontiac Vibe
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am using this stereo as a replacement for the stock stereo for my 2005 Pontiac Vibe. Installation was easy with the free parts Crutchfield provided with the purchase price of the stereo, and it looks great in the car. I installed the blue tooth microphone at the upper left hand side of the windshield, and the most difficult part of the installation was hiding and running the wire (which is more than long enough for this purpose) back to the stereo, and even that wasn't too difficult. As was mentioned in a previous review with this make and model of car, the angle of the front of the stereo paired with the cars window placements means that if you are an average sized human, you will have glare off of the stereo that will make it difficult to see the stereo's display at times. I might not have noticed or cared if I hadn't have read that previous review. For everything else this stereo brings, it's a minor inconvenience. I was considering replacing my stock speakers, but this stereo has made them better enough that I am going to put off that decision for at bit. The stereo connects quickly with my Samsung Galaxy Bluetooth for both phone calls and media, and it works well with my iPod. The user controls are not entirely intuitive, but now that I've had the stereo installed for a few weeks, I can get the stereo to do everything I want it to efficiently.

Pros: Easy to install Looks Great Great colors Sounds great - makes factory speakers sound better Great hands free Bluetooth calls Equivalent price to factory replacement with loads more features

Cons: Glare off stereo face in this make/model of car

I really just wanted to add an Aux port to my Canyon since the stereo had an Aux button. Turns out, it's not quite as straight forward as I'd hope. For just a bit more money, I picked up this unit, the harness and the dash kit. Great sound quality even with my stock speakers, Aux port, USB (either thumb drive or iPod) and Bluetooth. However, given my phone does all that and more now, I chose the path of a "downgrade" where the stereo is simply an interface for my phone. Wow! Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's been over thirty years since I owned a Pioneer car receiver, so it's nice to know they are still one of the leaders in car stereos. I bought this unit to replace a Parrot Asteroid POS that I bought years ago that just never worked well. What a breath of fresh air when I finished installation and powered this unit up for the first time. I was used to a head unit that would take almost a minute to boot up and enter user mode. Comparatively, this unit boots up, finds my iPhone on bluetooth and automatically starts playing in a bout ten seconds. This sounds like a simple function, but my old Parrot unit made you push a button, turn a dial, select bluetooth, THEN press another button to start playback EVERY TIME IT BOOTED UP! Don't get me started. . . Another thorn in my paw with the old unit was sound quality. Parrot may know how to design bluetooth devices, but they have NO idea how to process and playback audio. There were always unnatural artifacts in the audio stream such as pumping, breathing, rumbling and thumping, not to mention a brash and brittle high end. To the contrary, the 720 is another excellent example of Pioneers' decades of designing and building some of the best sounding and best performing head units on the market. The sound is clear, well balanced, and has no oddball artifacts in the audio to pollute the music. It just delivers a clean, well-balanced audio signal to your speakers.

Pros: * Clean, clear sound. No noise or unwanted artifacts. * Easy to use and set up. No heavy manual reading. * Adjustable color schemes allow easy match to any car's dash illumination. * Excellent bluetooth operation. Starts playing music within 10 to 15 seconds of startup. * Can be set to dim the display with the dashboard lights. * Source level adjustment allows you to adjust for too-quiet or too-loud sources. * 5-band EQ plus 3-level loudness contour, as well as adjust

Cons: * Single line display means a lot of scrolling. Could have been much better with two or three lines. * No elapsed time on track info display. You can switch to an elapsed-time only display, however (nit-picky). * Main display can be difficult to see in bright sun, just like every other stereo head unit on the market.

    I love it!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The main reason for replacing my factory stereo, which was working fine & sounded great, was because I wanted an aux or usb port to play song files. Mine only had a CD player & a cassette player. I didn't really need another CD player...I haven't even owned a CD in years, but I still ended up buying this one just because of the light show & price, lol. I love the lights & colors, but the sound is pretty awesome too! I didn't even change the factory speakers & it sounds amazing! It was pretty easy to install. The only problem I came across was the blue/white wire on the stereo...there's only one, but it's supposed to trigger either an amp or a power antenna. My car has a power antenna & apparently has a factory amp too, because when I connected just the antenna, there was power to the stereo, but no sound. So it was either go without my antenna or go without sound, so I just connected both to the blue/white wire & now everything works...so far. There was nowhere in the instructions where it said you could hook them both up together, but there was nothing saying you shouldn't either. I'm definitely not an expert, so I don't know.

Pros: Awesome looking, amazing sound, great price

I bought this unit to install in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Truck I just got. I packed my cd's away 7 years ago, all my music is digital and on my I-pod.The install was a half hour on the bench soldering the wires together for the adapter harness and then wire nuts & tape. the actual install in the truck was not quite an hour and went very smooth. Kudo's to Crutchfield they make this easy and the install guide is excellent. As to the unit itself very nice looking and you can change the lighting leds to match your dash & interior. The menu's are easy to navigate and setup. This made the speakers come alive, I have it set for vocals with +1 on bass and favoring the rear speakers +1 . My music runs from sixties oldie's to seventies rock and a lot of singer songwriter songs.I ordered a sans ultra memory stick to load the music on. When in the unit it only sticks out 1/ 4 of an inch and holds 32 gig , I have over four thousand songs loaded in three folders Oldies,Country and all my favorites. I cannot say enough nice things about this receiver if you buy it you won't be disappointed.

She has experimented with its many options and has personalized it to her specific needs and desires. I would recommend it to everyone.

Pros: Not very difficult to install, many options for customization, Bluetooth capability with steering wheel controls. Great tech support! And a happy kid.

Cons: She has been very happy with everything so far.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first purchase of a Pioneer stereo and I am very impressed with this unit. I am not an audiophile. I was simply looking for a good price on a great sounding unit. I did not want to change the look of my vehicle, so fitting the existing spot was important. I have to say that I think this unit delivered everything I was looking for and even more. The installation was very simple. Operation is pretty easy to figure out and to top it all off it is a great value. I really expected the Bluetooth setup to be more difficult. When I finished, all I could say was "That's it??"

Pros: Value, Bluetooth, Easy installation & setup.

Cons: None that I have found.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great receiver from the van. Sound was great and controls are easy to use. For what I paid for it,I feel like it was a great deal. Blue tooth synced pretty fast and works good. Calls through the receiver are great. Just a good cd player with blue tooth. Really like it and Pioneer I have always had good luck with. Crutchfield had a great price and great customer service.

Pros: Blue tooth. Display colors change or go with stock to match factory color. Call quality is great. Cd player is solid.

Cons: None, it has alot of different functions. So some people might see that as a con. Once you figure out what they all do,it really is easy to use.

You can't miss with this one for function and value. Huge upgrade over my stock head unit and the Bluetooth is seamless and sounds great with my iPhone 6. I spent a lot of time comparing to JVC, Clarion, Alpine and Kenwood entry level double DIN...in the end I simply bought on price. Great news is that it is perfect form my needs

Pros: Bluetooth connectivity is seamless with iphone 6. Easy to answer, hold and hang up. Estimate 2-3 seconds between ending call and resumption of streaming music from phone.

Cons: Menu to adjust equalizer is too complex. It's buried with illumination, etc. There's lots of real estate wasted without an easy "Audio" button to tweak bass and treble.

The unit works well in my 2000 Accord. Initially I had a problem because the manual didn't say what color wires went to what, but Crutchfield customer support was awesome. They told me which wires matched and everything was fine. Even the steering wheel controls work. It's the most helpful and comprehensive customer support I've ever used.

Pros: Bluetooth works really well with my Samsung Galaxy 6 and Spotify. Phone calls are good too. Sound is clear and microphone picks up well.

Cons: Can't find a color to exactly match the backlight. Being made of plastic, the buttons feel light and cheap, as if they might break if you push on them too hard.

A lot of deck for the money looks nice. Has a 1000 color combs in deck. You can lock it into one color once you navigate though the menu. The sound is nice .Bass is heavy and you can tweak it in custom setup or go with presets. Its nice to use Blue tooth or USB or input to excess all your music sources.I like to use a large memory stick and store and update 1000s of songs on stick and have it all with me no matter which car I am in. I have another Pioneer DVD dash unit in Motor home so for me the memory sticks a solid library on the move with me. The Focus st has a factory sub in the trunk and with the proper wiring from Crutchfield sent that made the whole install easy along with a adapter wire that was a snap to connect to factory amp to sub. I have found its best t shop price but when you buy from Crutchfield they send for free all the items to make the install a snap plus a call center to assist if you get confused as I did with where to wire in the adapter wire for sub, On a 5 min call made me me understand it all simply. In closing you cant beat the whole package that comes in one price. Pioneer stuff is top shelf.

Pros: perfect fit with installation products. Was easy to install in 05 focus with factory ford subw in focus st. Cruchfield provided all the right wires ti make everything a snap. Sound is great unit looks good in dash

Cons: There is a lot to learn to get through menu to set all settings or understand just where they are. Same with lightning . After playing with it for an hour you get it but if your not a tinker around and play with stuff kind of person then it gets a little frustrating at first but its all good in the end.

My wife immediately fell in love with this . It'll take a few days to figure out all of the settings and capabilities , but she already loves the bluetooth hands free phone and being able to play media from her smartphone . She posted a pic online and now a friend wants the same radio . Outstanding buy and simple installation with the kit that Crutchfield provides . I had to call support on a Sunday to ask about one of the connections and I had an answer immediately . No wonder I keep coming back over the years .

Pros: Simple installation , you just have to know how to take you specific vehicle apart . Crutchfield had the exact adapters I needed . Great sound . Much better than the stock radio . Awesome capabilities . Hands free phone , stream music from Pandora or from files on your phone . Looks great , you can set the display up in many colors and combinations . Really reasonable price . Outstanding "bang for the buck" . Made my wife happy , which makes me happy .

Cons: Pioneer didn't supply a User's guide , and the color coding and legend of their harness was a bit difficult to decipher , while the Metra adapter had clearly decipherable coloration and labeling .

Bought this receiver to replace a busted Mach 460 deck in a Ford Mustang. Speakers were fine, so only the receiver was replaced. With wiring harness and 12v-5v adapter, it wired up easily and plugged in perfectly. Installation took less than an hour, including crimping the wires. Audio quality is significantly better, and this is a good test of the receiver because all other components stayed the same. All the bells and whistles you can want: Aux port, USB port, Bluetooth, multiple display modes and colors. Audio is extremely customizable. Do your homework on high pass filters and subwoofer eq settings. It took me a lot longer to get the audio quality dialed in than to install it. Now I have great sound at a great price!

Pros: Great audio quality, easy install, multiple features, and great value.

Cons: Instructions don't explain the audio settings. Not just your basic treble, mid, and bass. You will have to do your homework to dial it in.

This Pioneer receiver is the cream of the crop. It smoothly integrates with my mobile, the included directional mic works flawlessly with Siri and with minimal noise for those who receive my calls, and the sound is great! Installation of the receiver was simple and effortless with the most work being the crimping of wires together for the wire harness. Everything else was a cinch! If I had to make one knock against the system, it would be that the Mixtrax mode is not all that it is cracked up to be (though I really wasn't expecting anything spectacular from it). It is a neat feature, to be sure, but not a reason to buy this product. Everything else is the reason to make a purchase when it comes time to upgrade your car's sound system.

I have had this stereo since May15, worked well for a couple of months then my display would go on and off. when it went blank I could tap on the screen and it would come back on. After numerous emails to Pioneer customer service they wanted me to drive an hour and 45 minutes to a repair facility. I wanted them to send me a new unit along with a box to send them back the old, faulty unit. They haven't responded to my 2 emails yet and I don't think they will.

Pros: Just an ok unit, if I had to do it all over again I would buy a Kenmore or Sony. The display is nice and the multiple color option is cool. Hard to see in the daylight though even when brightness is turned all the way up.

Cons: Customer service is terrible. I also had a hard time getting the exact quality of sound in my unit. I would go with a larger equalizer.

    RichG from California on 12/6/2015

    1998 Toyota Sienna
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pioneer claims to supply an instruction manual; this is actually a list of features with a casual discussion of where the feature attributes are located in the menus. 9 out of 10 complaints on forums are due to the nearly useless instructions. Understanding features will require hours searching the internet for hints from owners and in reviews. If you purchase one of these expect many hours to research and experiment to understand how the features can be controlled and adjusted. Ratings: Bluetooth; Pioneer seems to have a problem with Bluetooth connectivity. This may be due to manufacturing defects as some owners report good results. In my case I have a phone that will connect with a 5 yr old BlueAnt hands free device over 20 feet away through multiple walls; but not to a Pioneer stereo from 1 foot. Will pair but will not connect for any function . Sound Quality seems v.good Ease of Use: no instructions worth reading Coolness: don't really care but coolness would be better if I could set the feature attributes Build Quality: unknown with out long term experience My 30+ years experience with product design, manufacturing and quality systems makes me suspect this is a low cost design with low cost manufacturing, from a company giving limited attention to customer experience.

I bought this to replace the failed CD player/radio in my '07 Mustang. I would never buy this radio again and I'm very disappointed in Pioneer. It seems the main attraction is the stupid flashing lights - definitely not the radio. Its hands-free Bluetooth capability is totally unreliable with my Samsung Galaxy phone. When switching bands/modes on radio it insists on showing you a light show on each button push before it acts on your button push ... definitely not desirable while driving! Pioneer designed this for the visual whiz factor - not for a useful car radio. If you want a Pioneer spend $100 more and get better quality.

    Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Cheap and unreliable construction. Unreliable hands-free. Too much focus on glitzy flashing lights and not on basic radio performance.

I'm glad I ordered through Crutchfield because they offered the exact kits needed to complete the installation. The steering wheel controls were a little tricky to hook up, otherwise, everything was easy. My only beef is the microphone isn't integrated in the unit, you have to snake a wire through your car through the back of the unit and hook it to something. Works pretty nice, my kids love the flashing colors of the unit when a call comes in.

Pros: Great price, and great sound. Big improvement on factory stereo.

Cons: Wired microphone needs to be snaked through your car.

I bought a new used F250 and needed to upgrade the base factory stereo in order to get bluetooth phone and a few more modern features. I don't use the truck enough to justify a stereo with Nav or Carplay or even Sirius XM. So this Pioneer was right at the sweet spot. The installation was very simple, once I figured out to match the Pioneer harness to the Crutchfield harness color-by-color (doh!). One didn't quite match (orange-white vs. solid orange) but the guys at Crutchfield were there with the quick answer ("Yes, connect them.") and also answered a few other questions I had. Once installed, everything works just like stock, down to the ability to pick the display color that matches my F250. Extremely happy, and a great value.

Pros: Exact features needed; improved sound over factory; bluetooth phone and A2DP; Pioneer quality.

This is an excellent replacement for factory stereo especially if you wanna upgrade your ride with some Bluetooth. It definitely pushes more power than the factory GM stereo I had. If you have decent factory speakers, this unit will supply them with plenty of power to operate to their full potential.

Pros: Tons of features. You can make it any color you want to match your dash illumination. Plenty of power for factory speakers. Bluetooth mic works well. Installation went unbelievably smooth. Reasonably priced. Looks great. It's a pioneer !

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's a great product, the price was a bit too high, though. It's cheaper elsewhere but Crutchfield has the customer support and most if not all of your car audio needs. I bought it for a 2002 Mercury Cougar with a 2-DIN stock in it.

Pros: Radio is great. Lighting is great the fact that it doesn't have some kind of controls that I can mount on my steering wheel bugs me a bit, but I don't really care, I got a product that does the same as a more modern base model radio. Bluetooth, Aux, came with a mic that's long enough for you to run from the top of your rearview mirror down to your dash(you have to get it around your windshield and onto the side panel then down below the steering wheel console and the. into a hole going to dash.

Cons: Did't know the specific size of it but it was standard 2-DIN. had to carve my radio mount in my dash, smoothen it up with a file and some sanding paper, didn't have a clue what to do with the metal bracket that was holding my old radio in place since it held the parts below the dash. had to stick a knife above the bracket to give the new radio some kind of platform to slide into and then POOF, slid right it. Tight fit. Took me a good 5 hours to do it though. didnt regret it.

I purchased the unit in February. Crutchfield did an excellent job of delivering the order fast. The unit worked well till June. As the days became hot the unit stopped working when l parked the car in sunlight all day long. Next morning it worked well again and the cycle repeated itself. I called Pioneer and was put on hold for 15 minutes. Then I did send the unit to Pioneer for warranty repair and it took them almost a month to return it. Not sure what they did to the unit but it continued to have the same problem so I sent it back to Pioneer for warranty repair again. Its now been three weeks and I called Pioneer again. Pioneer has not even repaired the unit - its waiting to be repaired. I was advised that it takes 2-4 weeks for the repair to be completed. Now I have been without a functional unit for over two months. The combination of a defective unit combined by extremely poor and slow service by Pioneer makes this experience a horrible one. Save yourself the trouble and buy another product from another manufacturer.

    Pros: Good design and display

Cons: Poor quality and extremely poor warranty service by Pioneer.

Absolutely amazing looks and graphic display. Im a little disappointed that Bluetooth is for making telephone calls only and not streaming music. To stream music, this requires a 3.5mm audio jack (male to male). When factoring this in and needing to have the microphone plugged in, it is a bit cumbersome to switch out. This product is off the charts amazing for the graphic display, but if you are looking to stream music from your phone, its a bit tedious.

First of all, I have no problem with the brightness of the display. I live in Hawaii, do not have tinted windows, and can read the display just fine even with the colors set to match my dashboard illumination (red with blue buttons). What I like most about the Pioneer FH-X720BT are all the features that were missing from my factory stereo. It has three different ways to interface with smartphones: Bluetooth, USB and Aux input on the front. It can play compressed media files, so I can put a whole audiobook or a band's discography on a single CD. Finally, the hands-free calling works perfectly. I chose to install the microphone in the overhead console (difficult cable run) and the other person can hear me clearly. When making an outgoing call, the phonebook comes up on the Pioneer's display and then the music pauses automatically so you can use the speakers for the phone call.

Pros: Programmable illumination colors to match your dashboard, lots of ways to interface with Android or iOS smartphone, hands-free calling is intuitive and has good audio quality

Cons: May have to press the SRC button up to 8 times to get from CD back to radio unless you disable some of the other inputs, unit is 7 inches deep including rear heat sink and would not install flush with dashboard

I am very satisfied with my recent purchase of the Pioneer FH-X720BT. I actually found Crutchfield to be the most inexpensive place to purchase the unit even over audio outlets and auction sites. The Unit itself is pretty user friendly. I did have to consult the manual a couple times to figure out the menu screen operation and to set up Bluetooth. I installed it into a 2003 CRV for my wife and she loves it. She is by no means a techy, but she finds all the features to be easy to use and she is in love with the hands free calling. She is an IPhone user and I am android we have found both platforms interact smoothly as far as Bluetooth audio and Pandora. It looks great and so far so good. It does not deliver the best sound on certain EQ settings but I firmly believe that is because we still have factory Honda speakers. Overall great product for the price

Pretty good for the value. The Pandora connectivity isn't great. It often does not want to connect with the device, it will display network fail. When this happens you can use other apps to play music but not pandora. Usually disconnecting the device and restarting the head unit fixes the issue. There should be an option to just control pandora through the phone.

    Pros: Great value

Cons: Pandora interface failed often. An option to just control pandora through your phone would be better in my opinion.

OK, overall it's a good system at a reasonable price. Not a great one, just a good one. A few hours more on the drawing boards would have made this system a really nice one without adding significantly to the cost.

Pros: The BT audio synced right up to my phone. The radio seems to pull in signals better than my factory radio. CD works fine. Front panel aux-in jack works fine. The microphone seems to work pretty well for BT.

Cons: Per-source volume settings should be a given in 2015. When I switch from my mp3 player on the aux in to the USB stick I shouldn't have my ears blasted out. When using a USB stick to play music, m3u files should be supported. Menu navigation is kind of clumsy. The 'off' button should be it's own button, not a press-and-hold on the SRC button. Few of the available colors are bright enough in sunlight. I wanted to set to match the rest of the dash, but the orange is way too dim.

Competent at everything you want it to do. Ignore the glitz, it's a good safe buy. Remember if you connect this to a Subaru, there's a purple wire for the car's antenna booster that MUST be connected!

Pros: Bluetooth, clear, loud, & automatic. Almost bright enough to see with sun glasses on. Good sensitivity on FM and AM. Numerous unexplained audio shaping tools. Call Crutchfields for that-

Cons: Don't like 1 knob control and menus! No Treble control / boost, as such. Boomy. there is a Bass boost though. Can't bring out enough highs in the mid range. Set up instructions are as bad as the rest. Tedious- - Styling is for kids.

I installed this in a 2007 Silverado to replace a basic AM/FM Radio. A huge upgrade for cheap money. I ran the mic for the hands-free bluetooth phone through the dash and used velcro to attach it to the right side near the instrument panel...pretty much hidden behind the steering wheel.

Pros: Bluetooth works great for audio and hands-free calling. Brightness can be controlled by the time of day (set a time you want it to dim at night).

Cons: No cons with the radio. The hardest part for my install was using a hacksaw to cut a metal bracket inside the dash to create enough depth for the install.

The unit was in my price range and had the features that I wanted which was Bluetooth ,USB and AUX front inputs. However the radio tuner is the WORST of any that I have owned and much worse than the factory unit. After installation the reception was so bad that I thought that I had forgotten to connect the antenna lead and removed the unit to verify that in fact the antenna was connected. Also, the display appears to randomly dim itself for no apparent reason which is annoying. I'll check the menu settings to see if the dimming is a user induced problem.

The only reason I didn't put 5 stars on it was the display is weak in the daytime. I have it set at the highest brightness on white color but the way it is tilted in the Tundra, it get washed out in the daytime sun. I chatted online with Crutchfield and they responded fast. I have a 2000 Celica and the tape player broke. I was using a tape adapter with my iPhone. I told them I am frugal and did not want to spent a lot. They recommended this radio and it is an excellent choice. My pocketbook is not much lighter but I have Bluetooth, USB, and the 1/8" jack for the iPhone. I like the physical controls but they could label them better and apply a more intuitive software functionality. Anything I need to break out the manual for I will call "not truly intuitive." I like the idea of the master menu button, but I had to read the manual to understand certain things, such as all menu items are not available at all times but only menu items that apply to the current input are available. The display is truly migraine inducing for me. It took a while to shutoff all of the flashing effects and color changing. I wish manufacturers would be more cognizant that as some people love the flashing lights, for others it can actually be painful. The radio sounds great. It is not a lot louder than the factory stereo but it sounds extremely clear.

Pioneer does it again - great equipment at great value. I put this one in the 2007 Chevy Colorado I just bought used with the awful factory FM/AM radio only stereo. I left the stock speakers, yet it still sounds much better. The unit offers lots of great features, and gives you lots of choices as far as inputs are concerned. Aux, Bluetooth, USB, FM/AM, CD, etc. I prefer to use my Android smartphone with Bluetooth. It displays song info, and I can play/pause/skip when using Spotify on my phone. Other goofy features like color changing and a remote are appreciated. It does include a microphone for Bluetooth calling but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The acessories and instructions from Crutchfield were clear and useful. Everything worked great the first time around.

I have now owned a couple Pioneer car stereos. I have been pleasantly surprised by each of them. This one in particular. I have been looking for a unit that would work with my Nokia Lumia Windows 8.1 phones. I installed this stereo, completed the simple install, entered the Bluetooth settings and my phone was auto detected. Pressed accept on the phone and it was connected. Went to Bluetooth audio and it started playing the music on my phone. Press forward and it actually advanced one song. Backward the same. I am very pleasantly surprises as the Windows Phone was not listed on the iPhone and Android. That being said there are even more features available for those phones.

Pros: Easy install. Works with Windows Phone 8.1 for voice dial, music via Xbox music. Multiple color screens available with deferent combinations.

Cons: There is not a lot of information available on the features of this stereo. Figuring out the illumination settings took trial and error. Only basic functionality is presented in the manual.

I've had several different stereos from several different makers and this one tops them all. This is the second time I've bought it too. I had it in a car I owned a couple of years ago and then when I sold the car, it went with the car. I bought a Kenwood to go in my work vehicle, and it just wasn't the same quality as the Pioneer. I finally bought this again and it's as amazing as the first time I owned it. My friend got one because he liked mine so much. My brother is also going to get one because of how easy it is to use and the quality of the product. Really, I can't rave enough about this. The Blue Tooth is great, the construction is solid. . Just all around a great purchase. Pioneer might have a life-long loyal customer now. It's just not worth it to venture out of what I know and what I'm happy with. So, Pioneer it is.

I bought one of these for my 2005 Subaru Forester. I was prepared for a little wiring between the factory harness and pioneer plug, no problems there. The sound quality improved so much from the factory stereo that I noticed my blown speakers and ordered some from crutchfield later. The buttons don't always depress when "clicked", that was the only build quality knock, but its minor. The bluetooth connects great with my iphone 5S and girlfriend's iphone 6. Although callers have told me I sound a bit different on their end, not a big deal though. Overall, what my 2005 vehicle lacked, that most new cars today have(2015), I would say its a great value. Very good unit. First Pioneer head unit after using JVC. Happy with how intuitive the unit was to learn. I put this unit in my wife's Suburban. Easy install and it looks and fits well. Steering controls (volume, channel) work well. Bluetooth was primary reason for purchase. Unit connects mine and my wife's Android phones with no problem, and will continue playing audio source, once connection is established. It took a little time and trial to initially connect, but once the link is established, it was smooth sailing. FM/AM, and CD functions work well. I haven't yet tested the aux or USB connections, but expect similar results. The display options are sufficient (how many combos do you really need?) and I like the options on the two line display to always have time available. Overall, very happy with purchase and recommend this unit!

Pros: Great overall value. Bluetooth works well, both for phone calls and to play audio from phone. Phone button is closest to driver/easy to reach.

Cons: Nothing significant. Wish it had more granular audio adjustments (equalizer), but built in are adequate.

You do want to use a cord if you want a great audio connection for playing music off the phone, but for the use of Siri and the phone part of the iPhone, the bluetooth connection and "SiriConnect" function both work great. The one significant drawback is that the screen is indeed very hard to read in bright light. This is a really unfortunate drawback for what is otherwise an excellent product.

Even after to call to Customer Support and some advice & another cable it still won't work. The player plays the video but no sound!? That's bad when you have two young kids and no DVD player. Guess I'll have to put the stock unit back in and return or junk it...

    Pros: Fits and sounds good....

Cons: Confusing to operate and very dim display during the day; almost invisible. Video but No Sound from the stock DVD player in the back of the car!

This unit looks really good in the dash. The lighting options are a plus! Sound quality is right on the mark. The EQ function is a little chincy....but it gets the job done. The menu can be a little difficult to navigate at first....def takes some practice....but once it clicks you'll be fine. Trust that nobody else will be able to change your settings though. :) Bluetooth microphone is clear and crisp (installed in my wife's vehicle so I'm on the receiving end of calls). Overall great buy...easy install...would purchase over again.

Great radio, installed in a 2000 Mazda B4000. Had to trim the lips on the top and bottom where you insert the radio and it fit like a glove. Installment instructions are not very clear but it isn't hard to figure out on YouTube. Wires matched up good; I soldered mine and used heat shrink tubing and it's working flawlessly. Great sound quality, and setup instructions are fairly clear. Bluetooth works great, easy to sync and connect.

My daughter wanted a Bluetooth stereo for her car. Since we were paying for it, we wanted a good value. This unit got good reviews and was in the price range we wanted to spend. Crutchfield lived up to their reputation of giving great installation instructions. Doing it myself saved $190 from what the large electronics store wanted to install the stereo.

Pros: Sounds great and installation was easy. Bluetooth connects quickly and works well. The red lighting matched well with the lights with her car's dash lights.

Cons: This stereo has a lot of customizing but it does need referencing the manual to accomplish.

It took a while to find this HU in the sea of double din stereos, but I couldn't be happier with everything this unit comes with. I put it in my F250 with (4) 6" infinity speakers and a slim mount 12" sub and at half volume I can feel the music in my chest. Great buy.

Pros: music quality is really good. Very user friendly. Bluetooth connectivity was seamless. No problems so far.

Cons: when Crutchfield says "dash modification required" they mean it. It wasn't a lot, but more than expected. I did the install myself and it took almost 3 hours to do it right.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 2003 Mercedes 'C' class. The radio didn't work when I bought the car. Dealers quoted $1700 to replace the amp and the cd changer. I threw everything away that Mercedes had put in this car (they have a terrible reputation for complex electrical problems) and replaced with the Pioneer FH-X720BT. A saving of around $1,500!

Pros: Fits like a glove with the recommended fitting kit. Great value for money with a superb customer service dept.

Cons: I think the Mercedes car builders were allowed to use any color of wire they felt like because nothing matches the shop manuals, the Pioneer schematic or the one Crutchfield supplied (they did warn me this may be a problem). A multi- meter is essential to find hot constant and hot on first key position. After that it's simply a case of finding the positive and negative speaker wires.

Ive had this unit in my car for awhile and its pretty cool. Yes the LEDs get a little old after awhile but this is my first radio with bluetooth and having that feature is probably the nicest thing ever. Navigating through the settings and getting the EQs best for my music was a little confusing but definitely do able. The old radio was a little bigger then this one so i had to get a aftermarket bracket witch was horrible but either way bottom line though great product and i highly recommend this unit.

This stereo was a pretty easy and clean install. I put it in my 2007 chevy cobalt coupe, and with the correct installation gear, it fits very well. I've never installed a stereo before this, but I didn't have any issues with it. The sound quality is better, but I can't tell how much better until I install some new speakers. The lighting is fine and I don't find it too bright at night. Sometimes if the sunlight has a direct hit on it, visibility isn't that great, but that's expected. You can still see what's displayed anyways. I would definitely recommend this unit for anyone looking for a cheap stereo.

Pros: Easy install Good sound quality Clear display

My factory head unit on my Ford Freestyle ate a CD and the left speakers would cut out when braking?? Time for a savior, so Crutchfield was summoned and fixed me up with the Pioneer FH X720-BT. I wanted BT and Ipod controls and the remote made it easy to forgo the optional steering wheel interface. The money I saved was spent on speakers. Hook up and installation was simple thanks to Crutchfield's easy to follow instructions. I took my time and only got stuck once but a quick call to Crutchfield's support staff got me back on track. I'm impressed with the sound and the features of the X720-BT, my only complaints are the difficult to learn controls and small buttons and on a sunny day the display is hard to read. My daily commute is over an hour and the ability to make/take calls from the road safely is a big plus.

Pros: Multiple platforms, Bluetooth, remote controls instead of steering wheel controls.

Cons: Small buttons, confusing menus, hard to read display when sunny.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this model after reading many reviews, and owning Pioneer products in the past. My car did not have a bluetooth set up and I really wanted one for when I was on the road. Installation went ok in my Prius 2011, some things required a couple phone calls to Crutchfield's tech support but I got them all worked out. I was concerned about the supplied bezel looking good with the OE dash, and it is really not to bad, color was right on. Biggest issue I had was the Axxess steering wheel controller. My volume knobs seem to be mixed up, but the more important switches, the trip and display buttons work fine, go figure, I must have crossed something wrong. Honestly never use the vol buttons anyway so not a big deal. Ran the supplied external mic through the dash and up the A pillar, that went fine and used a double stick foam pad to adhere the mic right near the rear view mirror. After pairing my iPone 4s to the new radio made my first call hands free. It worked really well and the person on the other end reported hearing me fine. Will sync up my wife's phone later to see how well it works with the 2 phones. Ran a USB cable to the front port of the radio and changed the source to APP, at first the radio played my iTunes but when I turned on Rdio it killed the iTunes app and played the internet radio. Sounds great. Speaking of which, it sounds nice, definitely better than the stock HU, now the speakers are really showing their limitations but overall a marked improvement.

Pros: Great sound, great bluetooth, fairly easy install, considering my complete inexperience. Price was ok, I didn't want to spend a lot but I still wanted a better overall experience. And I got great hands free integration with my IOS..

Cons: Some reviewers reported display being dim, and I have to agree, in the Prius which has a big windshield, in bright sunlight, display is very hard to read, not a big issue, but one to make note of.

This receiver is ok, just ok. It functions. I don't feel there is anything that makes it stand out from any other stereo. You get what you pay for-It's cheap! I wish I could return this radio solely based on the fact that I can't tune to one of my most listened to radio stations 87.7, the radio only tunes to 87.9. The cons heavily outweigh the pros. The Bluetooth audio works well and sounds good. It transfers any sound from your bluetooth device through the stereo including text message alert sounds and so on. Dial and button controls are not intuitive. While selecting the radio or playlist you cannot use the dial to scroll, you must use the front/back buttons. Will probably be sucking up the $ loss and buying a different stereo soon.

Pros: Bluetooth audio works, sound quality is much better than a factory radio. More options for setting the illumination than for necessary controls (if that's important to you)

Cons: Frequency band is limited to 87.9 - 107.9. Hard to read the face in daylight. Bluetooth telephone connection doesn't work properly. You can't use the dial to tune the radio or select a song in the playlist- you must use the forward and back buttons. Buttons aren't intuitive. Cannot connect Bluetooth telephone and use a different audio function- for example you cannot wait for a call on Bluetooth while listening to the radio.

I have purchased 3-4 other Pioneer head-units in the past, and have had nothing but excellent experiences with them. So when it was time to replace the factory Bose system in my 2002 Mercedes C-class, I knew it was going to be Pioneer again.

Pros: Great looks - not too cluttered with buttons. The variable colors is especially nice to allow matching the rest of your dash. Typical Pioneer performance (which is great in my book). Excellent value - you can get cheaper decks with more features (but questionable quality), or pay way more for decks with less features (and still questionable quality). Pioneer has always been reliable, with just the right balance of price vs features for me.

Cons: The only negative thing I have to say about this particular one is that the "source/OFF" button's tactile feel when you press on it isn't as nice as the other 3 buttons. Maybe I just got a bad one, who knows. It works fine, just doesn't have the same "click" feeling.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not a terrible unit for the price, but most of my music is on a flash drive I plug into the stereo. I have it organized by artist, album, and then tracks, and this stereo had no concept of alphabetical ordering so the couple hundred artists I have on the drive appeared in random order. Incredibly there is also no mic gain setting for the Bluetooth, because the stereo was missing this very basic feature I wasn't able to turn up the microphone volume and callers weren't able to hear me. Pretty quickly requested an RMA because of these flaws. Otherwise a decent unit, dot matrix display is nice and was extremely quick about pairing with my Windows Phone. One quirk with the Bluetooth is I had to press the Band button after using the GPS navigation to resume playing music because for some reason the stereo wouldn't do it automatically. Kind of annoying when the GPS is calling out turns every 30 seconds and you end up having to hit the button quite a bit. Sound quality seemed decent, I have a separate audio amplifier so I just use the pre-outs on head units anyways. Display is unreadable in bright light but every stereo has that issue. Cycled through a couple other head units before settling on the JVC KD-X320BTS which does everything this head unit does and more (minus the CD drive, but who uses CDs these days?) for just over half the price.

This radio was a nice addition to my 2005 Mustang. Overall I would recommend this radio, but there are some hitches that you should consider before purchasing. They're outline in my pros and cons. You should also consider getting a different double din adapter because the one Crutchfield recommended for my car was a poor fit (though it still worked).

Pros: Good sound Good looking (especially because of the color changing) Pretty easy to use if a little confusing at first Excellent Bluttooth reception Good phone call features and has an excellent microphone

Cons: USB player not compatible with Android phones that aren't brand new Shakes my speakers sometimes; the bass is up to high and there's no option to turn it down unless you set it to flat, which doesn't help much Can't be turned up to full volume without your speakers falling off MIXTRAX does not work. It just randomly switches to different songs starting in the middle or at the end never letting it finish with poor transition

With the supplied adapters it was an easy replacement for the factory head unit. I love having the bluetooth hookup for my phone! Having the front panel USB is great. I've never used the CD drive, doubt I ever will!

Pros: Easy replacement. Nice speaker phone. Plug in a thumb drive and play your music!

Cons: It can't handle big thumb drives. I suspect there isn't enough internal memory to deal with indexing 8000 tracks, so it only plays artists starting with A or B or C. This really makes it kind of annoying, actually. I haven't found a way to do voice dialing with the phone. I'm going to upgrade to a more capable unit.

I bought this head unit a few months ago, and I really like it. the "menu" navigation is really easy and the display is clear(except when the sun hits it) the multi-color display is a nice way to personalize the look of this. The only problem I had was I wasn't told I needed the factory bracket for a double din radio. The previous owner had installed a single din and didn't include the factory bracket, causing me to have to search the internet and salvage yards for a new one. This is in no way Crutchfield's or Pioneer's fault, I am just including this for others who might run into the same problem.

I was looking to upgrade my factory installed radio with something that has bluetooth and hands free phone capabilities, great sound. and within a budget. After a lot of research, I chose the Pioneer. It pretty much does everything it says and what I wanted. The bluetooth is practically flawless when using the Samsung S5. The CD player and radio also work great, which was important to me as well, since I don't stream everything. The sound is great and I have a lot of room to adjust the sound using all the EQ adjustments that I have-and between this unit and my phone, there's plenty of flexibility to adjust the sound to my liking. The colors are fun, and like other reviewers have mentioned, in the sun, it is hard to see, but then again , even with slightly tinted windows, everything else in my truck that has lighting is hard to see with sun glare. The system is relatively easy to use-once I read the instructions about how to access each menu. Installation was easy as well once I figured what I was doing. The only snag I got into was that at first I thought I had an extra amp in my truck, only to find out I didn't. Crutchfield has excellent customer service, and they guided me through the whole process, including figuring out whether I had the extra amp or not, and exchanged out the harness that is compatible with my truck without a problem. For sound quality, fun colors, streaming features, phone features and good price, I think this Pioneer FH-X720B is a great buy.

Pros: Perfect for what I needed

Cons: A couple of features are more geared towards the Apple products, but other than that, none.

Bought this unit to replace the stock radio in my wife's SUV. Was fairly easy to install but took a while to fit all harnesses behind the radio so the screws would reach the holes on the dash. Was easy to setup and connect to her android phone. Loads her contact list so all phone numbers are available to call. Now she can make and take calls without picking up the phone as the radio automatically connects via Bluetooth when she gets in the vehicle. By the way, the old speakers sound great with this unit. Would not hesitate buying again. When I ordered it, i failed to mention the speakers were Bose so they sent the wrong harness kit. They sent the right one the second time and did not charge me the upgrade price. I will definitely use Crutchfield again.

This unit was chosen to carry the torch after the original Monsoon H/U gave up the ghost in my wife's Grand Am GT. The radio is standard Pioneer fare, so navigating through the settings was a breeze. The simplicity in its interface is the true winner, and retaining the steering wheel controls was an added bonus. The factory speakers are handing the noise duties, but even with the EQ settings and HPF handy, nothing is going to keep me from upgrading the speakers, but still an improvement over the Monsoon H/U. Thanks goes to Adam for helping me choose the right interface to keep the aftermarket radio and factory wiring happy. The ability to adjust the colors and display makes it look right at home with the red lit dashboard.Overall a great unit.

Setup was a breeze and sound quality is great. It is easy to adjust the sound to the way you like it due to the detailed EQ options. Also, this may be of no value to most people, but the illumination options were so vast that I found a color that matches my gauges very well.

Received it within just a couple of days. Crutchfield's processes are so in sync that the unit was here I just a matter of days. Great service. The unit is just as described so it did not disappoint. In terms of installation, the instructions were dead on and the required hardware was just right. Installed it within an hour and it fit like a glove. The sound is very good and offers a range of of options to equalize as preferred. The light show is quite unique as well. The dimmer options on this unit permits use without any unwanted glare at night within the cabin. Now the hands free phone feature is excellent! You can listen and talk as though you were directly on your phone. Excellent value! Thanks.

Pros: Great sound, handsfree phone feature is excellent, neat appearance, great color display.

    Cons: Don't have any complaints.

Very nice upgrade to my factory system. This system was easy to set up and directions for use was simple. My dash lights are mainly red and its a pretty good match. I just put this in so far so good. My android phone for making calls and playing audio paired with no problems. It's the first day of use, time will tell and some tweaking is still needed I am happy with this unit. Just one more thing I would like to see in the future a built in microphone for the phone into the head unit. You are able to separate the mic from the holder and place it directly where you want it and securing with double sided tape.

Pros: Easy to install, even easier with mounting hardware and connectors.

Cons: Not really a con but a built in microphone would be nice.

Easy to install, gave much more power to my speakers, and is pretty easy to use once you know what you're doing. I give it 4 stars and not 5 because I was really excited about the Mixtracks feature but was kind of disappointed because the transitions in between songs sucks, but the light show is cool:) I would recommend getting this to anyone

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So Far, this radio is great, no problems what so ever. I bought this one after comparing every single radio, more expensive and less, I am very happy with my decision. Installation wasn't so bad, took me about 5 hours, only because I had to take things apart and back in about 10 times. the wires/ harnesses weren't lining up with the factory ones. I love how I have different colors to choose from with the display and the sound is so much better, louder than the shaker 500 which was originally in my 2006 Ford Mustang. I picked this radio because I wanted the Bluetooth feature and I also wanted to be able to play music from my phone instead of listening to the radio because they out play songs all the time. Also the only bad thing about this is, at first turning it off was a bit confusing because I thought all I had to do was push the volume knob in but nope it was the "SRC" button you have to hold, it also would've helped if I read it because it does say "off" on that button lol.

Pros: Lighting Options Bluetooth Easy to Use-Self Explanatory

Cons: Nothing bad yet, although when I play my music on Bluetooth it sometimes stops unexpectedly.

I wanted an inexpensive double-DIN radio with hands-free Bluetooth & iPhone support and this Pioneer definitely delivers! Sounds good, looks good and easily paired with my iPhone 6. I'm still getting used to the control/menu interface - Pioneer tries to use a single control wheel for almost all settings but I don't know if any other brands have a better user-interface. Also, my unit shipped with out-of-date firmware, so I downloaded latest from Pioneer's website and upgraded right after installation.

Pros: Integrates well with iPhones, iPods & Siri. Variable color to match existing dashboard lighting theme - orange in the case of my Nissan Altima. Crutchfield includes all the accessories required to install this unit properly in your car!

Cons: Display is a little smaller than it should be (Pioneer fits a larger display into the "next-model-up" FH-X820BS) and some buttons are on the small side, too. No Mute switch for the hands-free Bluetooth speakerphone - just a "Hold" function that mutes BOTH ends of the phone conversation. Glossy display, panel & buttons displays fingerprint smudges too easily -

Cons: The "custom" instructions aren't actually very specific. Upgraded the stock stereo for the Bluetooth connectivity. Works awesome, calls are clear and easy to hear and people are surprised when I tell them that I am using handsfree. Sound is good and once you figure out the tricks of which button does what it's easy to use. Only complaint is after I installed it I had a rattle in the dash that I couldn't track down. Finally figured out it was the bottom metal case of the radio itself. It would vibrate and would be fairly irritating. Fixed with a small bit of insulation tucked under the radio. Just enough to calm the rattle.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a little sceptical all when I read the reviews of how good the unit sounded and how easy the installation would be. Frankly, everything was correct...right to the last detail. I only had to make one call to the tech line during installation to clear up a question on wiring connections and the rest was easy. Took maybe 60 minutes, and that was only because I really went slowly to make sure I didn't forget a step or connection. I haven't installed a car stereo since the early 1970's so I was a little worried, but it was easy. And I didn't even have any extra parts left over! The sound is also a big upgrade from the 12 year old factory Hyundai unit I had. I really enjoy the hands free phone calling, the Bluetooth features, and streaming Pandora and Spotify. No aux cords needed! Big props to Pioneer and Crutchfield. Save the money of installation....you can do it!

Pros: Easy installation with the kit provided. The tech help number was the reason I chose Crutchfield over another one I was looking to buy. Better sound than the factory unit the car came with, and lots more features, some I may not need but it's nice to know they are there. I found this was Pioneers most popular selling stereo, and now I know why.

Cons: None, really. There's a bit of a learning curve to getting used to the new buttons and functions, but that would be necessary for any new stereo with many functions. Overall, a great stereo at a great price!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Lots of features for the money. More direct function buttons would be nice, but a quick review of the manual and the unit is easy to use. Biggest complaint is the read-out display is not bright enough in any color during the daytime, no matter what brightness settings I try, and most discouraging is that the orange color which matches my car's IP lights is one of the most difficult to see in daytime. Also difficult to dial in the perfect audio settings, but likely a result of the inferior factory speakers. The Pandora app is great but tends to glitch on re-connect after an incoming call, although can be easily remedied by switching to BT-Audio and then back to Pandora. The clear lens face flexes when certain buttons are pushed, but function not affected. Overall, a great buy for the money, with great features (Pandora app, BT phone) and only a few minor flaws that are easily endured.

Pros: Great bass, Pandora app, limitless color options, BT phone, eq customization, 2 sets of pre-outs plus HPF

Cons: Pandora app has some minor glitches, color washout in daylight, audio slighly difficult to dial in perfectly without "perfect" speakers

I did a self-install of this Pioneer unit with PAC RP5-GM11 Wiring Interface into my GMC Envoy. Using Crutchfield chat to get product information, I ordered it. I also bought a wire crimp tool set to connect the Pioneer plug to the PAC RP5-GM11 harness plug -- no soldering! Preparation time about equal to installation time. Everything works! The chime module is a different sound but I dialed the volume down. I have my iPhone bluetooth paired, I can play my iPod nano through the USB interface, and also USB jump drive with mp3. And of course CD and AM/FM radio. A great technology refresh for my 10 year old Envoy! The sound quality through my factory Bose amp is great. Steering wheel controls work! iPhone speaker phone via Bluetooth! Very satisfied customer is me.

Pros: in-dash integration of bluetooth, aux-in, usb, am/fm, cd player. Great sound.

Cons: The plastic adapter for the dash has many tabs that have to be removed as it is a multi-vehicle solution. I found a coping saw in my tool box to cut the tabs off -- they would not break off, and the plastic was not suitable for cutting with a knife.

I installed this in my Ford F250 truck. Being relatively inexperienced with car radios this took me longer to install than it should, but still was pretty simple. I like the look, sound and options of the radio. My kids love the fact that the lights change colors. That adds to the cool factor as my son put it. I would think in this day and age that they would have a premade adaptor to go from the car connection to the radio with out having to crimp or soder the wire connections. I wish the the menu and changeing settings were a little simpler and more intuitive. Other than than that I would definitely recommend this product for quality, value and ease of installation.

Pros: Installation easy. nice sound and look to the radio. Bluetooth works great.

Easy install in my 2007 Jetta with the Axxess XSVI 9003 harness. Bought from Crutchfield instead of another online retailer for the technical support, and used it to make sure I was making the right connections on the wiring harness so I just had to plug the new stereo into the dash. Installing the bluetooth mike was easy with a little help from an online video. Set the colors to match the dash lights. It looks great, and not too flashy. With the axxess harness, I get auto dimming with headlights, so it matches the dash. It powers on and off with the accessory power, and bluetooth connects in about 1 or 2 seconds and automatically hands off calls started before starting the car. I'm really enjoying the upgrade over the OEM head unit.

Pros: Value, ease of installation, customization options, fast and reliable bluetooth functionality

Cons: Polarized sunglasses make the display hard to read, inability to remove Pandora and Apps from the source menu (so far), no rear USB input to hide the wire for connected audio players

Replaced OEM unit in 2008 Honda that came with radio & CD player only. Having a unit now with Bluetooth, Pandora ,Streaming Audio for iPhone 6, & CD player is a giant step up for very little money. Crutchfield included everything needed for the install. Also added Alpine speakers & trashed the bad OEM's. Should have done this years ago.

Pros: I don't think you could get more value for your money than this unit. Local custom shops wanted more money for similar units. Install was straight forward but I took my time. If you have OEM speakers I recommend replacing them to get the full value of this unit.

Cons: Reception of weak stations is actually worse with this unit than EOM. A friend who worked in the custom audio business said that is normal for after market head units. The set up manual could have been more clearly written. There is no final "set" button; instead you back out of the sub menu which was not intuitive for me. Came with a remote which I can never imagine using. These are minor issues & should not dissuade you from considering this unit.

Great little unit - installation wasn't bad, but the stock mounts for my Toyota RAV 4 were plastic - flimsy. Seems to be holding up after 3 months though. Good sound quality for all inputs except BT. My iPhone 6's (all three of them in our family) won't stream BT without an incredibly loud buzzing sound every 8 minutes or so. This is followed a few seconds later by a half second of no sound. Firmware update shortened the duration of this annoying and ear-piercing problem, but it still occurs with perfect regularity about every 8 minutes. Take note if you plan to use this unit with Bluetooth!!

I purchased this unit to replace the old dull sounding stock radio in my Honda. To my surprise, it was quite simple to install and setup. I am also pleased on how seamlessly my iPhone works when recieving or making phones calls. If purchase this item, it is highly recommended that you install the latest firmware for the unit, before using it. The fireware can obtained from Pioneer's website.

Pros: Music has improved 10 times over, and it's playing through original Honda stock speakers! The sound quality when recieving or making calls are crystal clear.

Cons: I've been listening to the Pioneer FH-X720BT while communiting to and from work, and around time during personal arrands and so far, I can't neither complain nor find any short coming with this unit.
