Our take on the Pioneer DEH-X7600HD

The best sound in radio

HD Radio

If you're a local radio fan, Pioneer's DEH-X7600HD CD receiver can tune into HD Radio stations that offer the best sound you'll hear coming over the airwaves — FM that rivals CDs, and AM that's clear and static-free. And with thousands of stations broadcasting in HD Radio, you'll likely find participating stations in your area.

Eye-catching display

Pioneer's Full Dot LCD display adds a big dose of "wow" to this stereo, with a variety of animated backgrounds and sharp, detailed presentations of song and system info. For an extra kick, turn on Pioneer's MIXTRAX feature when you're listening to the music stored on your iPhone® or Android™. This cool feature pulses the bright multi-colored display in time with your music, and fades the volume in and out of each song just like a DJ would, adding special effects and keeping the musical energy high. Even when you're not using MIXTRAX, you can create over 200,000 cool color combinations with the separate display and button illumination options.

Pioneer DEH-X7600HD

The DEH-X7600HD boasts a bright, 3-line display.

Your music in your car

The rear USB input allows you to connect your iPod® or iPhone, then access your playlists with the Pioneer's controls. When your iPhone's connected, you'll also enjoy control over your favorite Pandora® stations from the receiver. You can use the USB input to tap into the music stored on many Android devices, while the front aux input handles just about any other audio source. If you're into your CD collection, you'll enjoy excellent playback of your store-bought and home-burned discs.

Find your perfect soundscape

Pioneer's potent MOSFET amplifier delivers plenty of power, while the 5-band EQ lets you tweak the sound as much as you want. The three pairs of preamp outputs let you build a rocking system with external amps and subwoofers.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

    Not for motorcycle

MICHAEL from San Jacinto, CA on 8/3/2017

    2006 Ford Ranger
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Radio is pretty awesome: when it works. I installed on my flhx ( Harley ) and the vibrations will cause the display and all control over the unit to be lost. Does put out good sound, but am replacing and putting in my other truck since it still works. Just DONT recommend for a motorcycle.

Pros: Sound quality Features are nice

Cons: Not very hardy for harsher environments Can be hard to read the screen if sunlight hits it.

    Decent Radio

    Paul from Alabama on 8/2/2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced a factory radio in a Porsche Boxster. Easy install. I give it 4 starts because it a good replacement radio but knocked one star off because the display brightness and color control does stay fixed after the unit sits unused for a while. It revers back to the demo mode and full brightness. Also the parametric EQ lowest band in 100Hz, it need to be at least 60Hz or better yet adjustable 40 to 100.

Pros: Easy to install. Lots of features.

Cons: Display color control is hard to set and then will not stay set. EQ could have more bands.

    Upgrade factory radio

    Pros: installation fairly simple.

    Cons: Menu navigation is tedious.

    Great Buy!!!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It works great and was very easy to install into my 99' Sierra. Installed it at the same time as my 2 10" subs which overall took about 2-3 hours with a few breaks but the radio itself only took about 15-20 min to put together and install.

Pros: Easy to use and customizable to your liking with the different options. Also sounds excellent.

Cons: I don't like the usb port being in the back of the radio but it isn't unbearable.

Excellent Radio, Not Easy to Install

    2004 Chevrolet Corvette
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to replace the stock radio/CD player in my 2004 Corvette. The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD seemed to be the best choice, balancing features and price.

Pros: Awesome sound on the stock Bose speakers in my car. Cool color lighting on the faceplate. It has abundant features and allowed me to now use the equalizer to set my sound system, of which the stock radio couldn't do.

Cons: I had this installed by a Corvette technician at a Chevy dealership. Even using the Axxess wiring kit, it took him 3.4 hours to complete. Thank God I didn't attempt it myself. Great price on the radio but added another $350 for installation. Also, the user manual could be much more clear on how to use all the features and options on this superb radio. Minor point: the display has tiny fonts that are difficult to see, even though there is more room for larger type fonts.

    2006 Nissan Frontier
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great unit. The sound is infinitely clearer than the stock HU I removed from my Nissan Frontier. It's simple to use and looks good in the dash. The biggest negatives come with programming and the LCD. Because of the large LCD, there are a limited number of buttons. Because of this, all programming and adjusting of settings is done from the volume knob, which means it's not something you can really do while driving. Once you do have it programmed how you want it, though, it's very easy to use while driving. My only other complaint is about the brightness of the LCD itself, and the gloss cover over it. With the sun shining on the LCD (or just on very bright days) it's hard to see any of the smaller text. If the cover was matte, or the screen itself brighter, I think this would be a major improvement.

Pros: Quality sound Easy setup Multi-line LCD with lots of information available at once Easy to use once programmed

Cons: LCD too dim for sunny days Hard to program while driving

You can get better sound of HD radio at good price. Many FM stations broadcast HD channels. Often 2 or more channels from each station, shown as HD1, HD2, HD3. 5-band graphic equalizer and remote controller is plus factor.

Pros: HD radio with data display, 5-band graphic equalizer, USB input and remote controller

Best Value for HD Radio and 4V Preamp Output

    lhlPA from California on 4/24/2015

    1996 Land Rover Range Rover
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to try HD radio and I needed high preamp output to connect to the factory amplifiers in my 1996 Range Rover. The sound quality of HD radio is not that impressive. But the 4V preamp output works out great. The suggested installation kit is not needed except for the antenna adapter. Based on the picture, the recommended wiring harness would not work anyway. I also purchased the PAC SWI-RC to use with the steering wheel remote control. It took a few tries to program it correctly, but it all worked out at the end. I am happy with the purchase. It is the best value if you are looking for HD radio and high preamp output.

Pros: HD Radio, 6 channels 4V Preamp output, decent sound quality, highly configurable

Cons: Rear USB connector, flashy plastic look doesn't quite go with the old truck

    Great Value

    2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This deck is a HUGE upgrade from my previous Sony Xplod receiver. The sound controls sell this product (5 band EQ, 2 custom EQ settings, High Pass Filter, Loudness setting, etc.) It has it all! The multi-color options is a big plus. Different colors can be selected for the keypad and the display. The remote allows total control of the receiver including a MUTE button and a PAUSE button. The AUX input in the front is great. If you prefer the use of USB input, the jack is in the back of the unit. With the included USB male/female cable, you can pick anywhere in dash to place the USB input! The colors and sounds are just awesome. The only drawback is that the faceplate seems to be made of very fragile plastic and that dropping it may break it easily. Also, it is a little difficult to insert a CD into the deck at night. Indicator lights to the Left and Right of the CD port serve little aid. All in all, I'm very happy with this Unit.

Pros: 5 Band EQ, HPF, LPF, Subwoofer Boost, different color lights, AUX/USB inputs, Ease of Use.

Cons: Fragile Plastic Faceplate, Difficulty Inserting CD at night.

    I like it

    Russ from Nevada on 4/7/2015

    2001 Ford Ranger
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just needed a good replacement for my stock radio/CD. Come to find out, with all the input options, I don't really need my CD's anymore. So I guess that is something I could have done without. It comes with about 35 pages of the smallest print Manual, and I needed to download the PDF to read it. Even still, mostly you just have to play with the knobs and buttons to get used to it. Still new, so I can't really do much while driving. I have to select before I leave the driveway, or hope for a long light. Still haven't figured out how to find and program all the HD stations in my area. Not even sure what the differences are with HD, HD2, etc.

Pros: I like the sound and I won't miss the CD's

Cons: I'm kind of old school and this is over kill for me. Just give me a few simple buttons to push.

    Pros: Features Price

    Cons: None

    skhchr from Utah on 3/18/2015

    2003 Toyota Sienna
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am not an audiophile and I don't spend endless time tinkering around with car audio. For the most part, I am satisfied with stock speakers. I wanted an easy to use car stereo that would allow me to plug in a flash drive with all sorts of MP3 and AAC files (so I wouldn't have to convert the format for the majority of my lossy library). This stereo does exactly what I wanted (and more).

Pros: I like the adjustable colors, the overall sound, the ease of finding the folder or file I want to listen to, and the variety of options (HD radio, CD, flash drive, iPod, etc.) offered.

Cons: The cons are for somewhat impractical items. I do kind of miss the equalizers and balance/fader controls of the old stock stereos--the ones you can adjust without looking. These are easy enough to adjust on this stereo, but it requires looking and is therefore unsafe to do while driving. I realize that there is no place to put this on a sleek modern system, unless it is with voice control.

I cannot believe how incredible this Pioneer receiver is for the money! I love the sound, the options, and the multi-color display that the receiver offers. The vehicle did not have a working receiver in it for "10 years!" The vehicle was a gift, so I wasn't sure whether the HD radio/CD player would be enough, but once installed it began playing as if it had been factory installed. Thank you Crutchfield for a high quality product without the high price!!!

Pros: Easy to learn/use. The more you play with it, the more you learn how convenient it is to use.

Cons: A little difficult to understand how to use the adapter for my smartphone and usb for music.

Awesome unit. Price is amazing, almost half the price of other places. Customization is great. Custom colors, color schemes, eq, hz ranges. Mixtrax is cool so far. 6 channels is what i needed for a 4ch amp and 1 ch amp for subs. Sound is awesome, but thats due to my amp partly, whatever. Buttons are easy and simple. Im a Kenwood unit guy, first pioneer for me. Kenwood was always the easiest I felt, but this one is almost as easy, while still having lots of options. There are no radio station buttons (#1-5 or what have you), its all in the menus, but very quick to grab. Havnt used pandora or my iphone yet, but USB is fine. HD RADIO is nice as well, great clarity, and the unit displays the artists n songs too. Screen is great, good brightness, can change your custom color if you need brighter. Good buy

Pros: Awesome, Great Price, Tons of Functions

Cons: Rear USB, not front (a con for some people).

I am trying to return this after having this USB playback issues. I tried to use two different thumb drives and tested both MP3 and AAC files. It stops in the middle of the song and plays again. And it stops after a minute or two. And plays again. It was pretty annoying. In addition, I did not like that it was hard to change shuffle settings... (It wasn't intuitive to change settings) The sound quality was awesome. I loved the sound. It wasn't difficult to change settings and stuff.

Pros: great HD radio tuner Sound is great iPhone playback was awesome (although it did not work well with USBs)

Cons: Rear USB is not easy to use USB audio playback is frequently interrupted (It stops and plays... I used FAT 32 and tested with MP3 and AAC) It is not easy to change settings such as shuffle and stuff. I wish they had a buttons

This is a very good car receiver for the price. The kit was nice, it installed easily...however, the antenna extender was bent and did not work. It was a very cheap part. Fantastic audio for the money. Sound quality is very good with built-in amp. EQ, loudness, and bass boost controls offer lots of flexibility to tailor the sound to your liking. Menus and functions make sense! The remote is easy to use and lets you do almost everything. The only downside is having the USB port on the rear of the unit, which forces you to have a cable hanging out somewhere. All in all a great unit from Pioneer!

Pros: Unbeatable value. Flexible sound controls. Easy-to-use remote.

Can't beat it for the money.

Pros: iPod controls are easy to use and the HD radio sounds better than the previous receiver I had that cost more. Color options are nice, as is the EQ settings for multiple inputs.

Cons: Not a big deal, but the amber color that matches my dash lights is hard to see.

    High quality stereo upgrade

The system gives me what I wanted: better sounds, futuristic looks, and colorful lights.

Pros: High standard technology with well integrated functions. Nice color changing. Expanded sound controls.

Cons: The Mixmax only works with USB input files. I wish it could sync straight with the sound itself.

    Great Upgrade!

Purchased for 16 yr old sons car and Wow so much easier to install that in the late 70's. Everything worked great and it was a fun Father Son project.

    Pros: Good Sound without amp.

    Cons: none

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Super easy install with the included kit. And tech service is handy if there is a problem.

Pros: Lots of value for the buck, good sound quality, and visual effects. The controls are handy and fairly easy to access. The remote is a plus also. Everything considered it is a lot of bang for the buck.

Cons: A little complicated instruction manual for an old man, but my son picked it up and had me going in no time. Only other complaint would be sometimes to adjust the volume while driving a bump can have you changing something else because the dial is also a select button.

    Great Stereo

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great stereo to replace the basic factory radios that come with your vehicle. This has many features, great sound, good EQ, and many other options, for a great value, when compared to other stereos with similar functions. One reviewer stated an issue about turning the volume up will sometimes accidentally turn the knob to change to the next track - this was not at all an issue for me - there is plenty of room to turn the volume knob without skipping to the next track. If all else fails, just use the included wireless remote control. I highly recommend this radio to replace your OEM radio, if you are not looking for a DVD/Navigation system, or bluetooth. This has all the functions you need for great quality audio.

Pros: Great sound, good options and EQ settings, good value.

Cons: Nothing major, screen is not very bright. Best option is to make the display green (brightest color of light to human eye) and turn the brightness up all the way for during the day.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I usually buy Pioneer products. When I bought my used truck, I wanted to obviously update the stereo. I purchases this, thinking it would be great. But after I installed it, I realized that I realized that the design was horrible. Every time I tried to turn the volume up/down, I would skip to the next track. And it was a pain, especially if I was listening to Pandora... I returned it, because I was also looking for a bluetooth feature (which this does not have). Crutchfields customer service is outstanding, as it was an ease to find what I wanted.

Pros: Changing colors, pre outs and sound is good

Cons: Track skipping button around volume, not a very bright display

    HD + Pandora Radio

HD Radio: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD's built-in HD Radio tuner lets you listen to the radio with the same fidelity as your digital music. HD Radio features high quality audio, FM multi-casting, and data services. With HD Radio, your FM stations offer near CD-quality sound, AM stations provide FM-like sound, and there is crystal-clear reception with no audio distortion. Best of all, HD Radio is 100% subscription free. The unit's tuner also supports analog AM/FM broadcasts.

    • Multicasting: In addition to conventional broadcasts, with HD Radio broadcasting it is possible to choose from up to 3 multicast programs (HD1 to HD3, and analog). There are also data programs for each program.
    • Station Text + RDS: AM/FM digital stations can offer text and data such as artist names and song titles. For analog FM stations, the Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as song/artist information when listening to compatible RDS FM stations.
    • Supertuner IIID: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.
    • Reception Blending: If a digital broadcast reception condition gets poor, this unit automatically switches to the analog broadcast of the same frequency level. If this function is set to "On", the tuner switches between digital broadcast and analog broadcast automatically. If this function is 'Off', reception will be conducted within an analog broadcast.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest analog or HD stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.
    • iTunes Tagging: It is possible to save the song's information (tag) from a HD Radio or RDS FM broadcasting station to your USB-direct connected iPod/iPhone. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store.

Note: HD Radio is the system for digital AM and FM broadcasting in the U.S. More than 2,000 radio stations are broadcasting their primary signals in digital HD Radio technology, as a free service. Go to to check for HD Radio stations in your area.

Pandora App: The free Pandora App lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-X7600HD using your connected Apple iPhone, via the Pioneer iPod connector cable (130CDIU51/130CDIU52, sold separately) or the connector cable that came with your iPhone. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) with the latest version of the Pandora Radio application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account. The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD will provide control over the Pandora music service and display Artist/Album/Song information.

    • Station List w/ Shuffle: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z). You can also listen to songs played randomly from various stations within your Station List.
    • New Stations: New stations can be created based on the current songs or artists playing.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.
Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.

Front-Panel Auxiliary Input: The DEH-X7600HD is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X7600HD is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-X7600HD are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

4V/6CH Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD features three pair of 4.0-volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD lets you adjust the subwoofer preamp output's phase (normal/reverse) and volume (+6 to -24).

Crossovers: The DEH-X7600HD employs high pass and low pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speakers.

    • HPF: The head unit's 12dB/octave high pass filter only allows frequencies higher than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125Hz) to your front and rear speakers through the unit's speaker-level or line-level outputs.
    • LPF: The subwoofer preamp output features an18dB/octave low pass filter so only frequencies lower than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125Hz) are output to your connected subwoofer.

Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB device, iPod/iPhone, and portable media players. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD CD receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.

    • Bass Boost The DEH-X7600HD features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
    • Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App/Media App Control mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone/iPad. It is also not supported by USB MTP devices.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD in-dash CD receiver features Detachable Face Security. If the front-panel is not detached from the head unit within five seconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound. The warning tone can be turned off in the menu, if desired. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

3-Line Full-Dot LCD w/ Ever Scroll: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD features a 3-line, full-dot LCD which makes it easier to see what is playing in most lighting conditions. You can easily view file/folder lists from your MP3, WMA, AAC, and CD Text-encoded discs, Radio presets, or data from your connected iPod/iPhone. When the Ever Scroll feature is set to On, recorded text information scrolls continuously on the display. It will auto-scroll up to 64 characters. Set this feature to Off if you prefer the information to scroll only once.

Note: For your convenience, this unit is equipped with a multiple language display. You can select the language which is best suited to your first language - English, French, or Spanish.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 5 preset colors (White/Red/Amber/Green/Blue), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors. In addition, the brightness and contrast of the display can be adjusted. You can also select "ILLUMI FX"  to enable an illumination effect (on the display and keys) that will slowly fade in and out in a set pattern when a command or operation is made from the head unit.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music. You can also choose which area's of the head unit's face illuminates; select Display, Display/Buttons, or Off.

Calendar/Clock + Entertainment Displays: The Pioneer DEH-X7600HD provides time, date, month, and year display. You can choose to have the head unit display the calendar and clock even when the unit is powered off (your vehicle must be running or in the accessory position. You can also enjoy entertainment displays while listening to each sound source. You can choose from the following;  Background Visual, Genre, Background Picture (1/2/3/4), Spectrum Analyzer, Level Indicator, Movie Screen, Simple Display, or Calendar.

Note: The Clock display can be turned on or off. When the Clock display is turned off, the head unit will completely shutdown when the "SRC/Off" button is held down for one second. When the Clock display is turned on, the head unit's clock display will remain on when the "SRC/Off" button is held down for one second; the rest of the unit shuts down.

Automatic Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can turn the auto dimmer feature on or off. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.

Engine Time Alert: This setting allows  you to measure the length of time that elapses from when the head unit is turned on and display the amount of elapsed time per set period (15 min., 30 min., or Off). There will also be an audible alarm. This function is handy if you are listening to the radio with the vehicle' ignition is in the accessory position, and the engine off.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X7600HD comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause the CD, change the display, and adjust the audio. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The unit's rear-panel USB port supports Android OS 4.0+ (Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean) as a Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) device. It also supports Android OS 2.2+ (Froyo/Gingerbread) as a Mass Storage Class (MSC) device; as of 11/25/2013. The receiver does not support Android OS 3.1+ (Honeycomb) or other Android operating systems not listed. You will need to check the version of Android software that your phone is running and make sure it is one of the supported versions. There should be a system settings or about phone area that will list the version of Android software your phone is running. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Feb 24, 2015 ]  Staff
