Pioneer designed the DEH-X9500BHS CD receiver with all the convenient features you want in a modern car stereo: Bluetooth® for hands-free calling and audio streaming, an HD Radio™ tuner for improved AM/FM, Pandora® Internet radio control, and dual USB inputs. You'll also find sophisticated sound controls and a variable-color display, along with the crowd-pleasing MIXTRAX feature, in this impressive car stereo.
You'll be pleased with how much easier and safer Bluetooth makes your drive time. You'll see the phone number from incoming calls displayed clearly on the sharp dot-matrix display. If you want to take the call, just touch a button on the Pioneer and talk while you keep both hands on the wheel. You can also stream music wirelessly from almost any Bluetooth device through the receiver — even control track selection and check out info on the song on the receiver's display.
HD Radio's sonic advantages are impressive — FM broadcasts that are near-CD quality, with AM that's as good as what you're used to on FM. And if your local HD Radio station employs multicasting, this Pioneer allows you to tune into multiple channels on the same frequency, so you'll have more entertainment choices. Plus, the iTunes® tagging feature lets you save song info when your iPod® or iPhone® is connected, so you can purchase the tracks you like later.
The two rear USB inputs allow you to connect a variety of devices. For example, you could plug your iPod into one and use the other for a USB storage device. Pioneer's ControlApp even lets you access the music files on many Android™ phones through USB, so there's almost no limit to the amount of music you can have on tap. And the 1-amp USB port will charge your devices fast, so you'll be ready to go when you get out of the car.
With your iPhone® connected, you'll have excellent control over your Pandora® Internet radio stations, including station selection and "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" ratings from the face of the receiver. The DEH-X9500BHS also features Pioneer's App Mode, which offers limited control of many popular streaming music services.
The DEH-X9500BHS's built-in amp delivers plenty of power for strong sound. And when you connect digital music sources to one of the USB inputs, you'll bypass the player's internal digital-to-analog converter and use the higher-quality DAC in the receiver — the surest path to clearer, more realistic sound. You'll also find an impressive collection of soundshaping controls, including a 5-band equalizer that lets you adjust the sound to your car's interior, and Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever, which reverses the compression process to give you more high-frequency sparkle and musical detail from your compressed music files. Car audio enthusiasts who want to build a system around this Pioneer will appreciate the three sets of high-voltage preamp outputs for adding external amps.
The DEH-X9500BHS's fold-down face offers plenty of room for displaying song info, and the bright dot-matrix display reads easily in a variety of lighting conditions. You can vary the colors of the display and controls separately, creating thousands of possible combinations to match your car or your style. Pioneer's MIXTRAX works with the playlists and music files of your connected iPhone, iPod, or Android, adding DJ-inspired transitions between songs, while pulsing the variable color display of the receiver in time to the music.
Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check Details for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.
Easy to install, hands free bluetooth works well.
Average Customer Review(s):
Easy to install, hands free bluetooth works well.
Pros: Color options allow you to match dashboard lights
This was an easy install. It sounds great and I had no problem syncing my iPhone 4S to it. Works like a charm.
Pros: Easy install. Good looks.
I purchased this head unit as a natural progression in Pioneer equipment. I have owned multiple different units since the mid 90's. This was the latest one and it was time for a technology upgrade. I purchased one and it worked great for a few weeks... Then the problems began. The USB ports wouldn't play for more than a few minutes. I tried all the different troubleshooting tips and nothing changed it. Then the Sub out stopped working. Then the display started flickering rapidly. Sent it back got another one, same issues. For the time that it did work, it worked as advertised.
Pros: Pioneer Name Features Price point
Cons: The interface was difficult to manage Older Pioneer equipment was not compatible No face plate case
Install was good, pretty straight forward with install kit in my 2008 Altima.
Pros: Liked the sound quality. Blue tooth is great, should have done it a long time ago. Next is the Amp. Something 4 channel, to help head unit.
Cons: Blue tooth mic is poor Single din head is small, hard for me to see letters without glassed Trying to figure out how to preset radio stations is a pain Controls are confusing. I bought this unit because of 5 Star rating, beware. If had chance again would have bought Double DIN
I was trying to get away from the touchscreen over the top systems and this time build something more low key but with great sound and all the features I usually get from a touchscreen head unit. This deck delivered! I've got just about every input I could need! 2 USBs is handy so one can take car of my 80gb iPod hidden away in the glovebox and another available for my iPad without having to swap cords. My S4 connects via Bluetooth and I've still got an aux for any passengers! The sound quality is exactly as expected from Pioneer with plenty of EQ control, and built in HD radio is an added bonus. When the stereo is off, it is very low key, but when you turn it on it shows you what it's got! Great stereo and definitely worth it's price tag.
Pros: Lots of input options, great sound, on board HD radio
I own the 9400 and this 9500 has several subtle features that really make it even more enjoyable. The best is the full integration BT music with my iPhone. The sync is seamless and has full track/album/artist info on screen. A great unit, highly recommended. The phone mic even works in a Jeep Wrangler.
Cons: haven't found anything yet.
Easy to install with wire harness and kit provided by Crutchfield.
Very attractive easy to install and operate sounds great everything work at first shot
Pros: everything about it it's a pro
Just a litle less than 5 stars because there is no CD player (have to use your MP3 player), and a little difficulty learning the bells and whistles. Love the sound and comes with adaptors to fit my Dodge Dakota truck.
Pros: Sound, XM radio ready (needs separate tuner), various modes including bluetooth MP3 player, picks up automatically or with USB cable.
Cons: No CD player, a little difficult to learn how to pair with phone and program AM/FM.
Really good stereo, I would totally recommend to a friend.
Pros: Great functions! Easy to use, love that it has a Pandora function! Great stereo overall!
Very nice would recommend to a friend, installing was a snap and very easy to use
Pros: great sound for the price
Cons: have not found any yet
Pioneer has always pleased me with any of their electronics. And this deck is no exception. It contains all kinds of inputs for pretty much anything you want to connect to it.
Pros: Connectivity options, changing color display. And just all the other options and settings the deck offers.
Cons: The only thing I find a con so far is the radio presets. Although I love the smooth, less button look, it is frustrating not being able to quickly hit one button to change between at least six presets. Not a huge deal, but annoying
First car stereo I've bought in years. Was in over my head trying to do the install myself, so I paid Best Buy to install it, had all of the parts needed from Crutchfield of course. Installed by a pro in about 45 mins. He loved the unit itself so much, he said he was going to order one from Crutchfield himself as he recently had his old one stolen. Love the sound this puppy puts out. And the connection to my iPhone 5 is flawless. Music streaming is great, even from Spotify app on the phone. Totally satisfied with my purchase.
Pros: Can't find a flaw. Sound, iPhone connectivity, look...all are great.
Cons: None as of yet.
Great all in one unit, it has an almost annoying amount of sources. I have my iPhone in one USB, my Flashdrive in the other, there's auxilary, CD, HD Radio, Pandora, Bluetooth. Does everything you need and more. Awesome improvement in sound quality from stock headunit. Have to give many thanks to Crutchfield for unparalleled Customer Service. I originally purchased a Scratch And Dent version of this product and for whatever reason the transaction was not processed and by the time i figured that out, the scratch and dent version was already bought up and gone. Good old Crutchfield took care of me. Wonderful Service skills and Great product all in all, the only minor negative that I have to say is the quality of the unit's " feel". When you push a button on a headunit in this pricerange, i personally feel it should feel a little less "plastic..yyy". Much cheaper feel then say.... an Alpine headunit.
Pros: Service, Sound Quality, All in One, Value
Cons: Plastic "Feel"ing Build Quality,
Not a CD receiver. Welcome to the next level. Flash drives and Ipod. Sound quality is great especially when you tune into an HD channel. Put away the plastic dics and start collecting flash drives.
Pros: Great receiver with just the right outputs for a great system.
Cons: Display can be eyecatching in traffic until you get used to the color changes.
I returned a Kenwood KDC-X997 because the display was unreadable in bright daylight. I was really very pleased with the Kenwood, but one cannot see the display, it matters not about the other factors. So, got this Pioneer unit to give it a try. I like the function keys better than the Kenwood ... especially the horizontal flip lever. And the display was marginally brighter than the Kenwood. But overall, the Pioneer is inferior to the Kenwood for the same price. The equalizer was not as functional, and did not offer as much customization for audio setup. I think the Mixtrax and dancing colors for the display are made for teenie boppers. I fail to understand why anyone wants glow in the dark display with modulating lights that dance to the music. I would hope you are paying attention to the road and not watching the radio display. You can turn off that nonsense, but why they even offer it is beyond me. In summary, I find the Pioneer somewhat lower than the Kenwood in form and function. The display is also too dim. In my car, with a very light interior, the reflections and bright ambient light wash out the display making it nearly unreadable ... although not a bad as the Kenwood. I would not recommend this unit to purchase when the Kenwood (which is superior) is same price. I will be retuning this unit to Crutchfield and installing an Alpine unit. From the specs, Alpine seems to make no nonsense receivers ... a bit more expensive though.
Pros: Adjustable colors for keys and display ... would be great if they were visible in daylight
Cons: Shenanigans of modulating colors, Mixtrax is useless and distracting. Display is too dim to see in bright daylight. Lower functionality than competing products.
This is another great receiver from Pioneer. I upgraded from another aftermarket receiver for the hands-free BlueTooth for the phone. This has a cool display with infinitely variable color choices to match your existing interior lighting. It synced-up right away with my Samsung Galaxy S3, providing hands-free calling, Pandora playlist and station access from the receiver, HD Radio and iPod control. This makes the long drives for work so much better. A great choice for a single-DIN receiver!
Pros: - Flexible setup options - Great sound - Variable display choices and colors - Easy setup for BlueTooth phone and streaming, and it works flawlessly
Cons: - User manual sometimes less than helpful - MIXTRAX feature I could do without
This is my first Pioneer HU and I have to say, it's not a bad unit at all. I'm still a tried & true Alpine guy, but I wanted a HU with lots of features for the money. At this price, you get quite many, except the iPod/iPhone 30 pin connector or a faceplate case. Not sure why Pioneer or Alpine charge you so much for this cable-just buy the Apple brand USB to 30 pin cable for $10 less, and it's long enough to reach to most glove boxes. Power output is what's expected from a HU, and the sound seems to flatten out around mid volume or "35" volume level. GUI takes some time getting used to, but one can figure it out. However, I wish this unit had radio presets on the face, but it does give it a cleaner look without them-just don't lose the remote! I added an Alpine KTP-445U amp bridged to 2channels, and it sounds like audio bliss....In conclusion-a great HU.
Pros: 3 sets of 4V Pre-outs, included remote, nice display, excellent BT, good HD Radio reception, good SQ
Cons: Build quality could be better, no station presets, no iPod cable, no faceplate case!
very nice head unit, feels a little flimsy on the build, but seems to be OK, and the connection from the face to the unit itself is a little weak, but still a good unit.
Pros: high v outputs. hd radio, and works well other than the con i listed
Cons: connection between face and unit not the best, have to push on the face sometimes to get the display to come back on
Great product. Glad that I made this purchase.
Great unit has plenty of power and a great display that is easy to read the main reason I bought the unit was to get HD radio which I really like.
Pros: The main display matches my dash lights
Cons: The manual could explain the operations better
I've had this receiver installed for about three weeks and so far I love it. The sound quality is fantastic and I love having so many options for listening to music. Both the Bluetooth streaming and phone have useful and having control of Pandora from the receiver has been great. Installation didn't go as easily as I would have liked but a quick call to Crutchfield solved the problem in a jiffy. Like others have said, the menu system isn't the most intuitive and some selections are buried.
Pros: Great sound, good looks, versatile
Cons: Non intuitive interface
Just buy it
Good sound, many ways to tweak the system.
Pros: Good price, lots of features, good sound
Cons: Nearly unintelligible owner's manual, miss my old push button radio for quick radio channel changing
Pretty happy with this unit so far. Replaced basic factory AM/FM/CD in 2006 Ford Freestar. Primarily needed ability to play digital music from iPhone 3GS. Can't stream with this phone, but is just fine via rear-connected USB. Crutchfield-supplied mounting kit (~double-DIN sized opening) has small storage cubby under head unit that works great for putting phone in cabled. Voice command doesn't work well (believe issues are with phone), so ability to search through phone contact list via head unit display/knob is very helpful (can scroll through list by turning knob by feel & giving it occasional brief glances instead of what a touch screen would need). Combined with an Alpine MRX-F65 4x110WRMS amp & 4x Alpine SPR-68 6x8 speakers makes a nice set up. Holding out for spring birthday for Kicker PES10C sealed/powered sub. will make it a lot more than nice. Was skeptical about HD radio, but happy that 2 of my 3 local go-to stations lock on nicely and sound much better. Have noticed recently a high-pitched whine every once in a while when the unit is first turned on; goes away after about 15 seconds. Don't know cause, doesn't sync with engine revs. Not a concern if it stays as is. I don't care for the MixTrax shenanigans, but it is nice to have lots of options for the color of the display & buttons. Would like clock display to be slightlly larger Will be interesting to see if remote turn on is strong enough with both amps. Will try to update when I get sub if site allo
Pros: Nice features (HD, iPhone BT calls, cabled iphone music, sub control, eq, 6x 4v line out)
Cons: Pricey, would like clock display a little larger during music play, a little clumsy reattaching removable front panel, main control knob a bit flimsy-feeling, no pause or mute control on front panel.
Appears to be a very good unit. Install was straightforward.
Pros: Operational ease
Cons: No front USB
I was recommended the Pioneer DEH-80PRS by Crutchfield, but after looking at the features I wanted HD radio due to the CD like sound. Also, if I do upgrade the speakers, I wouldn't buy a the high end one. I'm still tossed between the two after getting it because most station's HD sounds like crap. But with the price difference, I can use it for speakers down the road. Now features are great, works well with iPhone 5 using standard USB cable, or streaming Bluetooth. Sounds very good from iPhone, USB memory, some FM through my factory Bose. Speaker can be better. I can get AM now which I never got with factory unit. Features for are great, but requires a lot of selection through menus. Talk about distractions texting, I'm lucky I haven't had accident yet. Most common operations are easily handled with the wireless remote. You really have to read the manual to use it. For example, to turn it off, you press and hold the source button. Stop or pause music is through the menu, scroll to features, the select it, scroll to Pause. If you are lost in the menu, you have to hit the return button half a dozen times. After installation, the unit was loose, it is fine now after I used a screw to wedge the unit in the DIN chassis tight. Mixtrax is more interesting than I thought. Still learning features like voice commands with iPhone, just saw that feature while writing this.
Pros: Features, good tuner reception, good sound even with better factory systems. Works with iPhone. Hands free and streaming Bluetooth.
Cons: User controls. a lot of learning. Too difficult for my wife.
really nice head head for a very good price.
Pros: has everything you can ever want in a head unit...very easy to use..i love it!
Cons: None at all
Overall a great product. It has everything I was looking for as well as great tech support from Crutchfield.
I bought my Dodge in 2005 New and was equipped with Factory Kicker Speakers. With that said, my Factory Radio CD Receiver always sounded great. However I began having problems with the receiver and decided it was time for a boost. I purchased the Blue Tooth w Receiver Installation card to save time. The installation took a while because the shop was busy, but in the end it was worth the wait. After it was installed I got in and WOW!!! I was Totally Amazed!!! I hadn't even fooled around with the Sound Functions yet, but when I did things just kept getting Better and Better. I am Very Happy with my choice of this Pioneer Head Unit and Highly Recommend it.
I've always loved Pioneer car audio products, they have always just seemed ahead of the curve in innovation and quality. This stereo has only strengthened that belief for me. This stereo has all the features and goodies I could ever ask for. It's menus are very user friendly, and in the last few days since install I have found several "Whoa! Neat!" features I didn't even know existed. The sound quality is absolutely stunning. The vehicle has mediocre speakers in it, so I really didn't expect that much of a change in sound quality. Wow was I surprised, I can't believe that those are the same speakers playing the same music as before. It sounds completely different. Even on those so-so speakers, this stereo was able to make me feel like I was watching a live concert. Pioneer has really impressed me yet again. The only downside I might mention, but is really just a small annoyance, is that the metal casing for the actual stereo didn't have the right screw holes for my vehicle (a 92' Geo Storm Hatchback). I wouldn't expect a manufacturer to predict every single screw combination, but I would expect Crutchfield to recognize that when you go to order it. With the stock mounting brackets for that car, there was no screw lineup that would make the stereo fit. Yet Crutchfield clearly stated that it would fit my vehicle. So this star off is really on Crutchfield, not Pioneer. Saying that though, in every other aspect I am very impressed with Crutchfield's match up.
Pros: -Superb sound, honestly the best car stereo I've ever heard EVEN ON MEDIOCRE SPEAKERS! -Far better reception than stock stereo, with same antenna attached. -Uncountable features that are well designed and user friendly. -VERY sleek and cool looking, by far the sexiest part of the vehicle. -Pioneer quality, impressive every time.
Cons: -Didn't perfectly fit my vehicle even though Crutchfield said it did. I was able to get it secured tightly enough though with 2 screws instead of 4, and 2 high quality (so it won't melt, fail, etc.) adhesive pads for the areas the screws should have been. I was thinking about drilling the holes for the screws myself, but was pretty sure that'd void the warranty.
I went after this after waiting and looking at feature sets, finally came off pre order, and I jumped, sure glad I did. I have a Droid Razr Maxx HD and it paired flawlessly with the deck, playing music through BT and the call functions were phenomenal. I have also used a MP3 player on the unit and it worked well, the USB provides power even if the deck is not on that selection, just for those that are curious. Sound coming through stock speakers in my Jeep Cherokee were nice, and was enough that im going to hold off getting aftermarket speakers until the holidays have calmed down (phew) Have not used the cd portion, but I assume it works well, have not used cd's in some time though, so its one way or the other to me. HD radio worked great, and automatically came up when I tuned to the FM frequency of the station. Very nice touch. I may end up purchasing this unit for my other vehicles, its that impressive.
Pros: Very good sound quality, BT functionality is great, HD radio works well, Menus easier to navigate than my last generation Pioneer (no accidental presses)
Cons: Had to wait so long to get it.
Bought this to replace my alpine 117 and couldn't be happier. The sound quality is amazing, the features are great, my only gripe is the menus are little intimidating until you figure them out. One of the big reasons I got pioneer over alpine is because the USB ports are in the back of the deck and makes install look super clean not to mention it had 2 ports where the alpine only had one. For the price, features, and quality pioneer can't be beat. This deck was installed in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ Boston acoustics option. Fits great with the exception of the face not being able to come down all the way, I knew this when I bought it not the receivers fault. This deck looks super clean in the dash.
Pros: Rear USB ports
Cons: Menus are complicated at first
For what I needed to run my sound system in my car this radio covered it all. The built in bluetooth is a dream since I have cancelled my XM Radio Subscription and now use Pandora. The supplied mic for the call feature is handy as well. Since I came from an older model Pioneer this unit was easy to navigate through. The added features a little curve ball but once you grasp how to navigate with the faceplate controls it is super easy to use. The faceplate could of been done a little bit better with the attachment. Seems the plastic studs that hold it to the unit could break easily so I will harldy remove it unless I absolutely need to.
Pros: Great design easy to navigate clean install best radio i have owned in a while
Cons: Needs better faceplate connector Need an option to prevent going to auxiliary when nothing is plugged in

Bluetooth Technology: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 3.0), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. SPP (Secure Simple Pairing): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DEH-X9500BHS without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. When a registered Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be registered to this head unit. Only one device can be used at a time. Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS.
Hands-Free Communication: The DEH-X9500BHS supports wireless hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. The DEH-X9500BHS allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name, Song title, and Album label. The DEH-X9500BHS also supports audio streaming of music apps (metadata display and control will depend on music app). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.
Voice Recognition: The head unit's voice recognition feature can be used to control basic phone and music functions of your Bluetooth-enabled iPod or iPhone (which is also equipped with voice recognition). Press and hold the head unit's front-panel 3-way rotary knob and speak into the included external microphone.
iPod Direct Connection w/ DAC Bypass: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS's rear-panel USB port and 59" USB extension cable can be used to connect your iPod/iPhone to the head unit, via Pioneer's dock connector-to-USB cable (130CDIU51, sold separately) or the dock connector-to-USB cable which comes with your iPod/iPhone. If you have an iPod nano (7th gen), iPod touch (5th gen), or iPhone 5; use the Lighting-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect to the head unit. Using either cable, DEH-X9500BHS supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of your compatible iPod/iPhone. The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 94dB. The Pioneer head unit supports audio playback of music, podcasts, audiobooks, and music apps stored on your iPod or iPhone. The head unit will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music file information, including - Track number, Folder number, Elapsed playing time, Song title, Artist name, and Album title. The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it). You can choose to operate your iPod/iPhone through the head unit's front-panel controls, from its clickwheel/touchscreen, or via a streamed app from your iPhone.

Music Browsing: From the head unit, you can browse your USB memory device's music library by Artist, Album, Song, or Genre. Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically.
Link Play: Link Play lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre on a USB memory device.
Off Insert/Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.
Auto Off Eject: When you eject a disc, the unit will automatically power off (unless you switch sources before ejecting the disc).
Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is obtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 60-degrees.
24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.
MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X9500BHS is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-X9500BHS are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.
Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB device, iPod/iPhone, and portable media players. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies
Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (100Hz, 315Hz, 1,25kHz, 3.15kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.
Bass Boost The DEH-X9500BHS features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.
4V/6CH Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS features three pair of 4.0-volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading.
Crossovers: The DEH-X9500BHS employs high pass and low pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speakers.
Subwoofer Controls: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS lets you adjust the subwoofer preamp output's phase (normal/reverse) and volume (+6 to -24).
Switchable Rear Channel/Subwoofer Speaker Output: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.
Detachable Fold-Down Face: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS in-dash CD receiver features a manual fold-down faceplate with detachable face security. The manual fold-down face helps to prevent dust from gathering on the unit's CD mechanism. If the front panel is not detached from the head unit within five seconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound. The warning tone can be turned off in the menu, if desired. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.
Note: The head unit's fold-down front-panel needs 1.625" of clearance to open.
Large Full-Dot LCD: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS features a 3-line, full-dot LCD which makes it easier to see what is playing in most lighting conditions. You can easily view file/folder lists from your MP3, WMA, AAC, and CD Text-encoded discs, Radio presets, or data from your connected iPod/iPhone. The contrast of the display can be set between 0 and 15.
Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 27 preset colors (White to Rose), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red, Blue, and Green brightness levels), or scan through various color settings (All/Warm/Ambient/Calm/Custom).

As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music. You can also choose which area's of the head unit's face illuminates; select Display, Keys, Both or Off.
Multi-Language Display: For your convenience, this unit is equipped with a multiple language display. You can select the language which is best suited to your first language - English, French, or Spanish.

Entertainment Displays: You can enjoy entertainment displays while listening to each sound source. You can choose from the following; Background Visual, Genre, Background Picture (1/2/3/4), Simple Display, Movie Screen, or Calendar.
Calendar/Clock Display: The Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS provides time, date, month, and year display. You can choose to have the head unit display the calendar and clock even when the unit is powered off (your vehicle must be running or in the accessory position.
Automatic Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can turn the auto dimmer feature on or off. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.
Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, both clock and source information can be displayed at the same time; or you can set the unit to display only source info or only clock/calendar.
Engine Time Alert: This setting allows you to measure the length of time that elapses from when the head unit is turned on and display the amount of elapsed time per set period (15 min., 30 min., or Off). There will also be an audible alarm. This function is handy if you are listening to the radio with the vehicle' ignition is in the accessory position, and the engine off.
Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On/Off within the menu.
Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X9500BHS comes with an IR wireless remote control.
