Anchor your ultimate car audio system with the flexible, powerful CQ-C8803U CD player from Panasonic. Anchor your ultimate car audio system with the flexible, powerful CQ-C8803U CD player from Panasonic. It comes loaded with the strongest on-board amplifier in the business, along with some serious hands-on tone controls, and it offers enough inputs and outputs to accommodate even the most elaborate system.

The special-design amplifier delivers an impressive 31 watts per channel, plenty of power to get maximum performance from your front and rear speakers. And if you're looking for exacting control, Panasonic's SQ9 feature offers 9-band equalizer and six preset sound curves for precise sonic adjustments.

If you're a competitor, three sets of 5-volt preamp outputs send a clean signal to all the amplifiers in your system. Onboard filters let you select which frequencies to send to which speakers so you can optimize your system's performance, while the subwoofer controls let you manage your bass right from the faceplate.

Panasonic's optional iPod interface gives you on-the-go control over your digital music library, or you can use the auxiliary input to add any portable music player. The CQ-C8803U will also control an optional Panasonic DVD/CD changer, satellite radio, and HD Radio tuner.

Panasonic's digital AM/FM tuner delivers outstanding reception and static-free performance up and down the dial. And, to round out your entertainment options, you can play your favorite MP3 and WMA files on CD-R or CD-RW.

And this stereo is hard to beat in the style department. Its motorized, fold-down faceplate offers a stunning Organic EL display, complete with vibrant colors, 3D graphics, and highly-legible system info. The included PICT software allows you to add your own images to the display.

This deck it the best that out. My brother found the same deck at a local shop for about the double the price. Right there should let you know that Crutchfield is the best. This deck sound it incredible. I find my self just driving just so I can listen to music. This has a lot of custom option so you can have the sound quality that you want. I don't have a amp hooked up yet but I couldn't imagine that this deck would sound this good without one. If you looking for a powerful deck without breakin your wallet this is the one. So many option for the picture perfect sound. A must buy for anybody who loves car stereos.

First, I would like to thank Crutchfields Customer Care and Tech. Support., for there unwavering help and support during my home installation of this unit. You guys ROCK !!!<BR> I never knew what I was missing in the sound department, until I first listened to this unit in my 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Laredo! It takes a few trys to dial it in correctly and then.....WOW!!! <BR> For us &quot;non-professional&quot; home stereo jockeys, this is as good as it gets! I cant say enough about the sound and in CS Auto?..... It's like you are sitting in a concert! I have never heard so many instruments, so clearly before! And with the SQ9 equalizer, you can just about tailor the sound to any taste you desire! <BR> You cant go wrong buying this unit and with Crutchfields support for the life of the product? What more can I say, except thank you Crutchfield, it was a fun install and with all the pigtails, brackets and instructions you provide, free of charge I might add,( try finding that from any other dealer online, or off! ) how could I go wrong? Thank you! <BR> P.S., while in the CS Auto mode, try setting the sound to &quot;Cinema&quot;!.....And setting &quot;True-Bass and Focus&quot;, to about &quot;7&quot; or so.....Dynamite !!!<BR>

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is definitely a very high quality CD Deck. The built in amplifier delivers high quality, high power punch to mid-sized door speakers. If you want louder music, get an amp...<BR><BR>The crossovers on this deck work very nicely, limiting the bass to the door speakers, and routing low's to your sub woofer(s). Also, if you are running low on funds and can't afford sub woofers, you can set the deck to make your rear speakers act like sub woofers and play low bass (a good thing for people with 6 x 9's in their back end!!).<BR><BR>Another nice feature is the equalizer that is built in to this deck. Unlike most decks, this is a 9 band equalizer. You can adjust each band's frequency and adjust it (-12db to +12db). A very high-end feature that isn't built in on most decks.<BR><BR>The last thing that amazed me was this deck's 3 (front, rear, sub) 5Volt Outputs. This offers very clean, strong power to any amplifier that you may want to install.<BR><BR>You would want this deck if you are looking for high quality sound reproduction, but don't want to pay 600-1000 dollars for a digital sound processor. The only cons that i have are this:<BR><BR>1. This deck doesn't have a USB port of the front to accept USB music sticks.<BR><BR>2. Doesn't have a front located line-in for things like an ipod shuffle.<BR><BR>3. Doesn't have an included ipod connector cable (you can buy one for this cd deck for 30-50 dollars i believe).<BR><BR>Other than those few squabbles, I can say that i am impressed with this CD Deck, and hope that it provides me quality music for years to come.

The BEST HU I've ever purchased, period! I love the clean yet attractive styling (compare to all other HU's with 50 buttons all over the faceplate.) Color display is SO much better than LCD. Love the SRS sound processing &amp; 9 band EQ on board. AM Wideband feature! Tuner reception is fantastic both AM &amp; FM, beating my previous Kenwood by 1,000%. Plenty of power w/o the hassle of a sept. amp. Only thing missing is built in HD radio.

I purchased this head unit and am very pleased. My only complaint is that the glossy finish on the head unit picks up finger prints quickly. Made my factory stereo sound like nothing and is extremely simple to use. If you want a good head unit at a decent price and easy to use and configure this should be yours!

I upgraded my stock Honda Radio to this HU, and BOY what a DIFFERENCE. Then I upgraded to the Polk Audio db 690 6&quot;x9&quot;'s in the back and the db6500 6-1/2&quot; Component's in the front. (With Dynamat Extreme in both locations) HOLY COW!! <BR> I am an audio buff, and have so far made most of my investment in the Home system. Due to the limitations (noise, weird frequency peaks, etc) of the car listening environment, I was always a bit disappointed in the car systems I had, until now!<BR> Using the SBC-SW feature, I have all the lows (below 120Hz) going to the rears, and all the highs (90Hz+) up front. This is one GREAT piece of equipment, I doubt I am going to even put in my Sub's.<BR> I haven't had a chance to play with all of the &quot;effects&quot; yet, but I am very happy so far. The only 'gotcha' is that the Panasonic doesn't always like VBR MP3's, it ocassionally will read the wrong time and skip sections of music. All other sources sound good. If you using an external device plugged into the Aux, there isn't any trouble at all.<BR> BUY THIS HEAD UNIT!<BR><BR>

Absolutely the BEST sound quality you'll ever have from a HU!!!!!!!!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, I had the Panasonic CQ-C8400U (MOSFET 60w x 4) and it was great. But I decided to replaced it for this head unit, mainly for the internal amp, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I have had this deck in my celica for 6 months now and I can say that this head unit is the best of all, even than the more expensive ones. Once that you get the perfect settings the sound is amazing. I have 2 component speaker systems (front &amp; rear) running with the internal amp and the mids and highs are way to loud and clear to be truth. I also have 1 subwoofer and the 5v pre-out make it sound crisper than ever. And just when I thought that I had the perfect bass, I turned the CS Auto option ON and....... You have to figured this out by yourself. Plus, it has a great cosmetic design, the ilumination is perfect and the display is way better than LCD, it is easier to read in the sunlight. I can't say enough about this head unit and the difference it made in sound quality in my entire system.

ok i been waiting to put this thing in for like a week it has been so cold outside and i dont have a garage after putting it in i proved crutfield wrong and it works with out any problems hardest part was finding a spot where the little filter box can mount to that took me while to find head unit is great love the full color screen it is simple to get to not like my cousins pioneer where u have to through 4 screens to get to one thing. it is simple to do everything works great and is powerful even with stock speakers i can only put it up to like 22 before it gets to much for the speakers. such a powerful unit and it isnt blinding to drive at night with it. I am happy I bought it worth the money

    Great Deck, Great Price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had this deck for a little over a month. You cant go wrong for the pricepoint, nobody could even come close to touching Crutchfields price on this Island, especially when you add up all the adapters they send you for free! This deck gives you many options and my main reasons for buying this deck was the 9 band EQ. You can customize the EQ to suit your tatse in sound.<BR> <BR> When I first got this deck the interface seemed somewhat cumbersome. Depending what mode you are in the buttons do different functions, and this took some getting used to. Now that Im used to the interface the deck is easy to operate. I really enjoy the &quot;DM&quot; button which lets access a favorite radio satation, ipod, whatever you choose the button to do, from any other function.<BR><BR> My only complaint about the deck occurs when I drive over Saddle Rd (a notoriously VERY bumpy road on HI Island). When the face is in any of the tilt modes and I drive over Saddle I noticed that the bracket that the face attaches to rattles. To remidy this I turn the tilt off and all noises cease. On all other roads that I travel on I have not had this problem, only Saddle.<BR><BR> All in all this deck is definatly worth a look at and I would buy this deck again. The deck looks great, sounds great, and I can control my Ipod, love it.<BR><BR> Also, I cannot say enough about Crutchfield and there customer service. My shipment was horribly mis-handled by UPS and Crutchfield re-shipped me a whole new package free of charge, and even upgraded my shipping to 3 day best for free. The original shipment arrived a week later, and was easy to return with Crutchfields pre-paid return label.

Best Stereo I've Bought So Far...

David from Fontana, Ca on 12/28/2006

The Panasonic CQ-C8803U has been the best stereo i've owned so far, and i've bought Sony (mobile Es), Alpine and Pioneer. And this HU has been absolutely hands down the best, even with the stock pioneer speakers it sounds so clear and strong. All around good sound, i listen to Hard Rock, Punk and my GF listens Rap &amp; R&amp;B and between songs off an Ipod it sounds great.<BR><BR>Buy it! you wont regret it, period.

Great sound quality, terrible iPod interface

    2000 Honda Accord
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, this is a very high quality head unit for the price. I have to give Panasonic credit for the well thought out control layout, and especially the clean pure power of the built in amp.<BR><BR>However, I'm desperate to find a HU with usable iPod controls. This unit is nothing short of terrible in that department. Where it excels is in sound quality and speed to the iPod, but navigating is not good unless if you only listen to your playlists. It's there that this unit needs a lot of help, and I think Panasonic could have easily fixed this.<BR><BR>Here's what it does:<BR>1. Search by artist or album and it always starts you from the beginning of your list alphabetically.<BR>2. It only shows 3 selections at a time.<BR>3. To scroll, you have to use the down button. You cannot hold it in for fast scrolling, but must continue clicking (hope you have a fast finger) to get to your selection. Imagine my dismay, as I have about 300 different artists in my iPod, so to get to the last one takes literally a couple of minutes of fast finger work.<BR><BR>Now I don't mind that it can only display 3 lines at a time, but what would have made this okay are 2 things...<BR>1. If the album/artists selection would start from the artist or album you are currently on, not always from the beginning of the alphabetical list.<BR>2. Use the volume wheel as a scroll, or allow the down arrow to be held down to quickly scroll. This is a very amateur oversight.<BR><BR>Anyhow, I'm going to have to contemplate another brand for the iPod controls since that's really all I use in the car. Panasonic missed a great opportunity on this one.

    Buy this from Crutchfield

bobj from New York, NY on 11/3/2006

I was considering buying this from Crutchfield, but was lured elsewhere by their price guarantee and free installation. It's all a bunch of B.S. <BR><BR>The installation of the deck may be free, but they charged me for cabling (including $60 for "high voltage cables" - funny, because the aux out is only 5 volts), and a bunch of other overpriced accessories. They also charged for the install kit, which is free at Crutchfield.<BR><BR>My brother purchased his deck from Crutchfield and got the install kit, and had no problem installing it. For me, they butchered my car, and cut a power connection to a secondary amp because he "Didn't know where that wire went". <BR><BR>If you are thinking about buying the CQ-C8803U from a competitor -- or any car auto for that matter -- Don't. <BR>

I bought this radio for my chevy 2002 avalanche with pioneer 6 3/4 4 way speakers. What a perfect match. This radio has all the features you would want in a radio. it is fully programable which i love i have full contral of all sound feilds. This is a very serious radio for car audiophiles. I love the way i can update the screens with my own personal images. The sound in this radio delivers is incredible my speakers and it sound clean even at max volume. I get no distrotion from this unit. For the price you cannot go wrong with this radio. General information for all; in my chevy avalanche and in other cars that have factory amplifiers once you install the radio with the new radio harness you might still me using the factory amplifier and not the units internal amp to power the speakers. This was my case I hade to bypass my factory amp i did this with the help from customer service thank you so much. Once i did the bypass WHAT a diffrence....

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all i would like to commend cruchfield for they have won my loyalty by giving me better than expected customer service. <BR>I ordered the Panasonic 8803 and it was a messed up radio it had way too much noise being introduced by the external DC/DC converter. SO, i contacted them and told them the issue, they had a radio in the mail that evening.<BR>Okay enough about that here's my opinion on the radio, plus a little background. I have been competeing in audio for about 4 years now and have a championship under my belt, therefore i feel i am a pretty harsh judge on audio components. <BR>The panasonic is a great addition to an audio system requiring more than average sound and more than average system adjustments. This radio allows the user to change the nine bands of frequencies to tune it to their exact sound preferences. Additionally the subwoofer output is 5 volts which is a very clean signal for the amp to amplify. I originally had the head unit playing my speakers and was very impressed with the cleanliness and clearity of the sound. I then hooked it up to my amp and it sounded just as good. I was impressed with this head unit and am going to continue using it (this is probably my 15th head unit). THIS IS NOT A BEGINNNERS HEAD-UNIT. There are way too many functions and possible configurations to enable the radio to sound its best or worst in the particular setting. Unless you know what you are doing or know someone who does i wouldn't recommend this radio. If you do (know what you are doing) then this radio could be an excellent addition to your audio system!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First let me start by saying that I am a Pioneer receiver fan. But when I looked around and compared CD receiver, I chose this Panasonic. I installed this in my 04' Dodge Dakota, and I am impressed. This stereo is loud. I closed my truck and max it out, and could here it 20 ft away. That was only with the door speakers, nothing else. For the price I believe it was worth it. At first it was a little tricky to work, but after that, everything seemed so in order. Another good thing was that all hardware came with it FREE!!! I still plan on maximizing all available connections of this receiver, but for now it's all good. <BR><BR>If I am right, I was on and we can customized the background settings to this unit, through their wesite. But don't take my word, CHECK.

Nice product for the average consumer. The guy that just wants a stereo that'll play the music and sound good and looks good. On the other hand if your the type of guy that enjoys technical control and interface. This isn't the buy for you. I went from the leading Alpine to this unit so i saw a big difference. Unit doesn't have adiquate interface and control ability. If you like simple then you should buy it and if you don't like simple then don't buy it.

This is a great headunit! Bought this unit for my 02 Ford F-150 Supercrew after my old one was stolen. Didn't know much about Panasonic stuff before but after reading the info on the Crutchfield site decided to get this unit. High-power with a ton of extra features ( 3 sets of 5V pre-outs, EQ, Sub controls, etc.) compared to the old Eclipse unit I had before. The price was a great starting point, High-powered 31W x 4 is plenty good to power my Polk 5 1/4" component speakers with a separate amp (Fosgate 4002 also gotten from Crutchfield) to power 8" sub box. Highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for great unit and great price, plus all the free necessaries to hook-up the unit in my truck. Thanks, Crutchfield

This head unit is sweet. You really don't need an external amp for you mids and highs. This unit will pump out the watts you need for a moderate system. Add a sub with its own amp and you are good to go. I am not gonna review the buttons or placement of them or the menus as these are all easy to learn if you are competent in the least with electronics. The unit looks awesome. The specs are all good, 5 volt pre-outs, high s/n ratio, and the wattage fantastic. Great deal especially with all the free stuff you get from Crutchfield. Truly a class act, and always my favorite place to shop for anything electronic.

    Panasonic makes great Car Audio

Brian from Nashville, TN on 4/3/2006

I recently completed a full install with all Panasonic equipment. I purchased the expansion box (CY-EM100U), the iPod controller(CA-DC300U), three pairs of the low noise RCA's, component speakers and the mosfet version of this headunit (CQ-C8413U, it's 150 cheaper, everything else the same). I review the other units separately, this review is only about the headunit.<BR><BR>I installed this in my 2002 Accord. The headunit is gorgeous. Of course 4k colors is a little low, but it looks excellent. Motion is smooth and the SRC transitions are slick.<BR>Controlling CD's is straightforward, however, I want to clear up something that I was misconceived with when I bought it. It turned out for the better though. I saw the volume knob with the Arrows for folder and tracking and thought that it was a rip-off of the Pioneer units where the knob is like a joystick, moving, turning and controlling it all. Instead, I was very pleased that it is a static knob (controls volume and push for menu) but the folder/track buttons are actually on a RING around the knob. It works really well and eases my heart because I thought Pioneer's implementation was pretty poor with their knob and was worried this would be the same. <BR>iPod control is excellent. When it's attached and you press folder up/down it brings up three options. Playlist, Artist, Folder. Then you push the set button on your selection and you are taken to whichever you chose, just like the iPod. Select the artist and push SET again and you get the albums. Then you push SET on the album and it plays. I have been unsuccessful in getting it to show the song breakdown. It just plays the album from the beginning.

When you press the eject button, the face slides down to allow you to insert or remove a CD. For best visibility, you can utilize the 3-stage tilt function to angle the faceplate. When the security function is activated, an alarm will sound and a message will appear to remind you to remove the faceplate. After the faceplate is removed, a flashing red LED warns potential thieves. A hard plastic face case is supplied for carrying your detached faceplate.

4096 Color OEL Display: The 4096 color OEL (Organic Electro Luminescence) display has 172 x 54 pixels for impressive clarity. OEL is a self-illuminating display technology that is easy to read, with a wide viewing angle and about five times the contrast of an LCD screen. Well suited to displaying motion graphics, OEL has rapid low-temperature response time for reduced ghosting and flicker compared to LCDs. The display offers 4 motion patterns and 10 still pattern presets to choose from, or you can set the display to automatically cycle through all of the motion patterns or still images.

Graphic Pattern: You can choose from the following graphic patterns (motion displays):

    • A: Indy car racing
    • B: street racing
    • C: people surfing and snowboarding
    • D: swirling light pattern

Still Image Pattern: You can choose from the following still images:

    • 1: sports car dash display

3-Level Dimmer: The display's brightness can be set to one of three dimmer levels.

Subwoofer Output: In addition to front and rear preamp outputs, the receiver has a non-fading, two-channel subwoofer output. Super Bass Control Subwoofer (SBC-SW): When a subwoofer is not connected, the rear speakers can be used as a substitute subwoofer. When the SBC-SW is activated, the subwoofer level and low pass filter settings are applied to the rear speaker outputs.

SRS CS Automotive: SRS Circle Surround Automotive (CS Auto) lets you experience a natural sound field anywhere in the vehicle, unlike other sound field manipulation methods such as time delay. SRS TruBass can be applied independently to front and rear speakers and the subwoofer. SRS Focus can be applied independently to front and rear speakers, or mixed between front and rear. There are 3 CS Auto presets: Music (default for sources other than AM radio), Cinema, or Mono (default for AM).

SQ9: The CQ-C8803U features a SQ9 "Sound Quality" 9-band equalizer with selectable center frequencies and 6 EQ presets. The presets include Rock, Pop, Vocal, Jazz, Club and Flat. Mute/Attenuate: This unit allows you to choose between mute (volume at 0), attenuate level 1 (volume decreased by 10 steps), or attenuate level 2 (volume decreased by 5 steps) when you want to decrease the volume instantly. After selecting mute or attenuate 1 or 2 in the menu, pressing the Mute button activates either function and the Mute indicator light glows in the display.

Radio DSP: By digitally converting and processing AM and FM broadcast signals, adjacent interference and multipath distortion are greatly reduced. The radio's IF filter prevents neighboring frequencies from interfering with reception of the desired station. Radio DSP uses an advanced algorithm to perform this task with digital control by automatically adjusting the IF filter's bandwidth in response to changing interference as you drive.

Direct Memory (D-M): You can store a favorite station into Direct Memory. You can immediately tune to that frequency at any time, even if the unit is playing another source, by pressing the D-M button.

Auxiliary Input: A set of female RCA jacks is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Just connect your portable cassette, MD or MP3 player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system.

Optional iPod Adapter: This receiver is compatible with the optional Panasonic CA-DC300U iPod adapter (item #133DC300). When an iPod is connected using the adapter, all of the iPod's controls will be disabled and it will be controlled from the receiver. With this interface, you'll be able to play your iPod music files through your Panasonic receiver and in most cases have all the titling information appear on the receiver's display.

Optional Hands-Free Phone System: Connection of the optional Hands-Free Phone System (Hands-Free Kit featuring Bluetooth technology: item #133BT100) allows you to talk on a handsfree cellular phone if the phone supports Bluetooth.

Note: This unit is designed only for receiving calls. It cannot send calls.

CD Changer functions include: Disc Skip, Direct Disc Select (remote only), Track Skip, Track Search (FF/RW), Disc Intro Scan, Track Intro Scan, Disc repeat, Track repeat, Disc random and Track random.

    Display and Installation Notes

Display Note: Pressing and holding the Source button turns the unit off completely. After the unit has been turned off, you can use the DISP button to switch the clock display and face/button illumination on and off. If you leave the clock display and face/button illumination on, they are "keyed." If you turn the clock display and face/button illumination off, they only turn on when the unit is turned on ("unit on" operation).

Note: The Source button stays lit even with the clock display and other button illumination turned off.

Installation Note: The CQ-C8803U features a DC/DC converter for additional power. The converter is attached to the back of the receiver via a 6-wire, 15" harness. The harness is hardwired at the receiver and can be detached at the converter. The converter is 3.476" long x 1.542" high x 1.815" wide. Space for mounting the converter in the dash should be considered when installing this receiver.
