JL Audio's Evolution C2 Series speakers bring precision sound to your vehicle. They'll reproduce subtle elements of your music like delicate woodwinds or soprano vocals, then turn on a dime to deliver the deep thrum of the bass or thunder of the drums.
The C2-650X 6-1/2" speakers feature rugged polypropylene cones that can handle high power without distortion, so you get full-bodied low tones you can really feel. The 3/4" silk dome tweeters serve up smooth-sounding high frequencies that won't tax your ears, adding a satisfying dose of realism to your soundstage. Built-in crossovers make sure your tunes play smoothly across the whole musical spectrum. JL Audio includes a pair of grilles for custom installations.

great sounding speakers
They sound great and are a major upgrade over the stock nose ones. The tweeters are a bit tinny at times which is why I didn't give 5 stars
These Speakers are awesome. Definitely worth the money. I placed them in the rear deck of my 05 Honda Civic. I replaced the front door speakers with Pioneer speakers (which I thought sounded great). Then when replaced the rear speakers with these JL's it was REALLY GREAT. I wish I put them in the front doors as well.
Right away sounded better than stock and have only improved as they break in.Much more bass and cleaner sounding.Used to replace front doors.Back doors are next and definitely be using the JLs.
Pros: Ease of installation thanks to Crutchfield.More bass, power handling and cleaner sound
Huge upgrade from stock speakers. I immediately noticed the difference!
Perfect all around coaxial I installed in front and rear of my 15' Tacoma double cab. I have paired with a Kenwood aftermartket HU and 10" JL W3 It's night and day when it came to highs mids and low end compared to the factory paper woofers. I listen to every style music and they work great for all. Extremely easy install all 4 doors took a total of 1 hr out of my day! I'll always trust JL everything and a big thanks to Crutchfield. A must buy for those looking to upgrade from factory and still get the great clarity of a component all in one package.
Pros: Highs, Mids, Lows, and Price
Perfect fit in the rear deck of my 2016 Mustang even though the description reads "will not fit" using the supplied metra adapter rings (will need to remove the inside tabs) Improved sound with the factory power, I can't wait to amp them!
Pros: Perfect fit, good quality, improved sound.
Cons: Haven't noticed any yet.
Peffect back door application for my vehicle (ford 2017 f150) the system is all jl with a jl 700×5 amp factory head set the setup is very laud and crystal clear.
Pros: Good clean setup a high end system at a great price.
Clean and clear. Exactly what I was looking for.
I love the clear sound
Pros: Great price for great quality
Cons: Don't have one
Tremendous, warm sound with tight accurate bass. Another top of the line JL Audio offering!
Pros: Warm, Smooth Highs; Tight, Accurate Bass; Build Quality
Great speakers that were easy to install and have added great middle and high end sound.
Pros: easy to install excellent clear crisp sounds
Really great sound. Solid, crisp low end you can feel. My second pair (front and rear doors) and the car sounds really good.
I really like these speakers. They play much louder than I can stand and are distortion-free. The only thing to note is in the spec section. They list the wattage at 15-100 RMS. The box that the speakers are packaged in says 60 W RMS with an amp suggestion of 15-100 W. So just know that these are not really 100 W speakers. I have them connected to an MTX Thunder 75.4 and only have the gain set at about 2/3 and they sound amazing.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 6/7/2016 JL Audio lists two power figures in the manual; 60 watts continuous power handling and recommended amp power 15-100 watts RMS. We've listed the RMS power recommendation in the specs table.
Great sound, I'm still trying to take it easy on them as they have only been in the truck for a few weeks, and it seems like they sound better every day
Pros: Ease of installation, with the adapters and wire leads provided; I think it took longer to take the door panel off and put it back on than it did to install the speakers.
Cons: Haven't had any issues
Excellent upgrade to the factory system. Brackets had to be modified for speakers, to fit - but incredible upgrade over the factory speakers. These is a night and day difference between these and the stock speakers.
Pros: Excellent Sound Quality
Used for rear set paired with JL Audio C2650 components in front, XD700/5v2 5ch amp, 10TW3-D4 shallow mount sub and Pioneer AVH-4100NEX head unit. These sound great as rear fill. Decent bass response even before I added subwoofer. Blends nicely with subwoofer (crossover set at 80hz or 100hz) Very pleased with sound even at moderately low volume.
Pros: Easy install, Decent bass response. Great sound even at moderately low volume.
Purchased a Kenwood DPX301U CD RADIO from Crutchfiled with some Kenwood KFC-1665S speakers. Well the radio was a huge improvement over the factory Toyota OEM Pioneer in my Scion XB2005. The speakers that I purchase well they sucked compared to the quality of the Kenwood radio. There was no bass response from these speakers at all and they are really designed for use in general use low volume applications at 4ohms. So - I returned the set to Crutchfield and got these units. As usual shipped with mount adapters, wire harness etc. Took about an hour and a half to install (some minor technical difficulties with the Metra 82-8148 Speaker Mounting Brackets supplied hardware) but after a trip to my local hardware store All Good. The Kenwood DPX301U RADIO does have a ton of settings but after setting the Audio Output for these speakers I now have the nice deep bass and treble of that I was use to (but even better) that factory. These speakers are designed to handle a lot of power (Im not using a power amp at all and its plenty for me) Im sure you dudes out there who need to see your teeth rattled can do it with these units. They are JL and these remind me of the TS-6905 Pioneer Speakers days of past. Due to the fact I drive a mini box car and space if very tight these fit with no issue at all. They are well built and I cant complain at all for the performance. The build quality of the speakers themselves are close to PRO Sound quality you cant beat it for the price. JL's for me !
Pros: EXCELLENT SPEAKERS !
I have never sat in my backseat but I assume these are as good as the front JL speakers I installed to match, which seem pretty good.
Great sound, easy install. I am so glad that I decided to upgrade from my stock factory speakers.
I installed these in the dash of my Wrangler with the base audio system. Crutchfield does not list these as a fit but I'm not sure why. It may be because they are not direct fit. The speaker pods are plenty big enough for them. I placed poly fill in the pods while I had them out. I used the template included to mark and drill four new holes for the speakers. To seal the frame to the pod, I cut the backs off of some XTC speaker baffles that I had laying around. After installing the pods back into the dash, I disconnected the factory tweeters. I experimented with removing the rubber plug from the rear of the pod to vent the enclosure versus sealed. The bass was much tighter and more defined with the plugs installed for a sealed enclosure. This makes the speakers less efficient but I am planning to add another set to the soundbar and install an amplifier. Using the fader control to compare the OEM speakers to the JL Audio speakers displayed just how much better these are over the OEM speakers. They do not play quite as loud but they sound so much better that I am listening to the fronts only. The tweeters are very detailed allowing you to clearly hear the instrument instead of the general "hiss" or "ting" sound that low end mylar type tweeters generally produce. Listening to speakers like this on factory stereos usually generates lower reviews because of the low power and OEM equalization.
Pros: Clear and tight midbass, with excellent vocal quality. Tweeters are smooth and detailed while not being harsh or overly bright.
Cons: I wish they had a foam sealing ring.
Speakers were used as rear fill in a 2014 Subaru Impreza. Spacers, baffles, and fast rings were used as well in the install. The speakers do sound nice. I installed the speakers and ran them off the head unit for a couple of days before I installed the amp and C5-650s. They really do sound nice without the amp. They work awesome as the rear fill with the C5-650s.
Nice upgrade from the polks
Pros: Crisp and clear
Could have spent more money , but these were a perfect fit for my Honda Ridgline! Highly recommend get the Dynamat Speaker Kit in addition when installing. Makes a huge difference. Very Pleased with Crutchfield and JL Audio
Really outstanding sounds, I took a leap of faith in spending this much but I figured maybe this would be the last time. (I had installed 3 cars already and they ended upo being sold) This ones is a keeper , so I went sort of all the way , partially.
Pros: Couldn't ask for anything more.
I bought these speakers for the roll bar in my 2012 jeep wrangler unlimited. They fit, but they don't fit the existing screw holes. You have to make your own screw holes. I bought them for filler, because I have the JL Audio c5 components in the front. I am powering them off a JL Audio HD 900/5. I was pleasantly surprised with how great they sound. Very clear and nice and punchy. Very good detail.
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: None do far
brand new 2013 sierra extra cab. ripped out the speakers and what a difference! awesome sound. just the speakers were changed and such a big improvement.
Pros: better sound
Cons: you forget what crappy speakers sound like
For the price you can't go wrong with these speakers. They handle a good amount of power and sound better than their price point suggests. These were purchased as rear fill and to complement a set of JL Audio C2650 component speakers. Their mid to low end sound very similar to the components; however, the upper registers sound slightly different to me. Although there is a slight sonic difference, I would still recommend them to friends and family as the ever so slight sound difference is more than likely due to the lower tweeter mount.
Pros: Great price point, can handle plenty of power and sound better than their price point would suggest.
Cons: Could possibly benefit from an angled tweeter mount.
These speakers are incredible. I purchased 2 pairs to install in my 2003 Civic EX Sedan. Crutchfield doesn't list these as compatible with this vehicle but I always like a good challenge. For the front doors the mounting depth (magnet and basket) is too deep for the speaker wells. I used some 3rd party speaker adapters and also had to add some rubber grommets to get a bit more spacing. In the rear deck the mounting height (tweeter protrusion plus speaker adapter) is listed as the roadblock. Well, Crutchfield sent the wrong adapters to begin with and the 3rd party adapters I had didn't line up with the holes either. So I did an easy workaround. Mounted the speakers directly to the factory mounting holes via speed clips! In both cases I also used some Dynamat to deaden any noise (also gave a tiny bit of spacing between the sheet metal and the speaker). The Dynamat cleaned up the sound immensely. I paired these speakers with a Kenwood KDC-X496, which outputs 22w RMS. In combination with these speakers that are closer to 3.5 ohm actual, this system outputs quite a bit of sound. In my opinion this is the best sound I've ever heard out of a system with no sub and no external amplification! It depends on the CD but the one quality that I could possibly see people having a problem with these speakers is if you are listening to anything with a very bright sound you will need to attenuate the treble a bit.
Pros: Incredible sound.
Cons: Have to do some minor extra work to install in 2003 Civic Sedan.
Fitted to a 2009 WRX 5dr hatch. Installed these matched with the factory base stereo and they sounded awful but that was to be expected as they were under powered. I then swapped in the upgraded factory stereo that puts out more power and they really came alive and sound awesome. I plan on getting an external amp to run these and hope that wakes them up even more. Price on Crutchfield was a bit expensive compared to other online retailers, but after you figure in the free shipping, free mounting rings, and wiring adapters you come out pretty much even.
Pros: Sound great
JL Audio has the best coaxials out there. I got these JL Audio C2-650x coaxials installed in the rear deck along with the JL Audio C2-650 component speakers installed in the front and they sound amazing. Well worth the money. I'm now a JL Audio fan for life.
Fit my 2010 Tundra with scosche speaker adapters even though not listed as fitting by crutchfield. Great sound. Smooth sounding tweeter. The woofer and tweeter are well balanced. Handle high power. Have mine running off a JL Audio 900/5 HD amp and love the setup. Can't go wrong for the money.
I purchased these speakers to replace the factory GM speakers in the door of my RV that is built on a Chevy Express 3500 chassis. The dash stereo has these two speakers and that is it. I am very happy with these speakers. They fit precisely, just as Crutchfield's tool said they would. The speaker wiring harness was a nice touch from Crutchfield, allowing me to easily switch these out without modifying the wiring at all. There is a very large difference between the factory GM speaker and these. The factory speakers were basically giving me mid-range and that was it. These speakers have much greater range. I can hear the bass now where before it didn't even come out of the factory GM speakers. As I cycle through the EQ settings of my JVC in-dash stereo, I can actually hear the changes. Before, as I cycled through the EQ settings with the factory speakers I basically heard very little change. The only thing that I wonder is if these were worth the price. There are many other 6.75" speakers available that also get high reviews for $80, $100, $125, etc. I wonder if I would notice any difference between them and these? If I forget about the price that I paid for these, then I am very happy.
I am a self proclaimed audiophile with medium-budget tastes. I like bang for my dollar. I started out with full Alpine Type-S speakers in my Mitsubishi Eclipse, and was pleased with the full-spectrum response i received from them for months. I am still using the Alpine MRP-F300 4 channel (50W X 4) amp with my new JL C2-650x speakers. They are in the doors as well as in the back. When I installed them, I installed one speaker in the back and left one Alpine Type S in the other side, set my Headunit to isolate each speaker, to hear the difference. Night and day. I am a stickler for midbass response and mellow tweeters that don't pierce my ears. At high volumes, there is no distortion across the board (heavy metal, hip hop, rap). I know people are wondering how these things perform across all genres of music...I have played them to their fullest extent (after the break in 4 hours) and cannot make these things budge from sounding absolutely phenomenal. The midbass surprised me. They hit clean, distortion free, and hard. If you are looking for a speaker that shines across all volumes, is clear, exceptionally clear, very very mellow flat tweeter response (no shrieks, no brightness at all) , look no further. JL has produced some of the most amazing sounding speakers in its C2 line. I am hard to impress. These impressed me.

Woofers: The JL Audio Evolution C2-650x coaxial speakers feature a 6-3/4 injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofer with a butyl rubber surround. Each woofer has a 1.0" voice coil on a Kapton Former, a symmetrical roll spider and a Ferrite magnet. These carefully engineered cones deliver the right combination of stiffness, damping, and off-axis response. The speaker also provides adequate bass, thanks to its ample mechanical clearance, optimized suspension and balanced motor design.
Tweeters: The Evolution C2-650x coaxial speakers feature a 0.75" silk dome, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter with a damping neodymium magnet. The edge-driven silk dome tweeter is smooth, detailed (on or off axis), and provides great overall performance. Silk is lightweight and great for high frequency extension and efficiency. It is also designed for durability in the extreme automotive environment.
Grilles: The Evolution C2-650x coaxial speakers include front-loading protective grilles with a design that combines black steel mesh with satin silver accents. Electroformed logo nameplates can be positioned on the grilles or elsewhere in the vehicle, according to the needs of the installation.
Power Handling: JL Audio lists two power figures in the manual; 60 watts continuous power handling and recommended amp power 15-100 watts RMS. We've listed the RMS power recommendation in the specs table.

This question is always subjective at best and really hinges off on how and what one hears. I have installed two pairs of these, one in my 2016 Silverado and one pair in my 2014 Indian Chieftan, and without fail I do hear a difference. The clarity at all volume levels is cleaner than my factory speakers and on the bike, the point at which the speakers distort is higher. Bass, while not as strong as some would like is solid, but where they excel is in the highs which are not as "tinny" sounding as in the factory speakers. Prior to these, I always opted for Infinity Kappas or Polk Audio but once I listened to these I was sold. They have now become my go-to speaker and amp of choice. Hope that helps. [ Garry Oct 26, 2017 ]
Yes !! All I did was upgrade rear speakers in my truck notices substantial difference. For the better [ Ricardo Oct 25, 2017 ]
I hooked mine up to an amp but i'm sure they'd be an improvement either way. [ rodney May 04, 2017 ]
I Think there is always an improvement with aftermarket speakers over stock in any of the applications I have installed. I installed an Alpine amp with these speakers and it sounds great; much better then stock [ Michael May 03, 2017 ]
There may be a little bit of an improvement but these speakers really come alive when using anow amp. I hope that helps! [ DONALD R May 03, 2017 ]

All plastic one size fits all bracket. Two sets of spots to screw in speakers depending on which size you get. What I didn't like was for the smaller size it had metal clips to screw through to reinforce the holes but for the larger size there were slots instead of holes and no metal reinforcements for them. Seemed not the best but was free. I plan to reinforce the screws more with some epoxy next time I open my doors to put in dynamat. [ John May 18, 2014 ]
Hi! I'm not really sure what you are asking. I will be glad to help. What bracket are you referring to? And the what size are you referring to? I out these in a jeep wrangler and used the existing holes and made new ones. Maybe a little more custom than you might want to do. Ask me anything and I will try to answe the best way I know how!
