Good quality easy installation
The product itself seems well built, but I didn't get to install it. The template that comes with it is scaled too small and therefore useless. The actual size hole required was too large to fit on my dash console.
Pros: Seems sturdy
Cons: Template not correctCrutchfield response on September 7, 2016 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Fits perfect on my motorcycle fairing
Pros: Good fit
Easy to install. Flip cover performs as advertised. I am using this cover to protect a non marine alpine unit as a marine unit in my boat. There is larger selection and better features on non marine units works great with no problems
Pros: Ease of installation
Cons: Little spendy
Great look. Looks stream lined
Cons: Sticks a bit
fast delivery and in perfect condition
Pros: as they said no lie
I wasn't sure if this would work on my boat however I just had to open the space vacated by a Clarion receiver. It makes it simple to open the cover and close it compared to the original.
Pros: Smooth action when opening with a push of a button.
Cons: Having to cut a larger hole in the console. The cover disappears inside the console when opened.
it is a great looking product but it was to wide for my opening
the best on the market very well built cant beat a life time warranty on this product bought it for a new batwing fairing for my harley
Pros: very well built , can even change how fast you want the door to open
Just what i needed. Used it on my Harley fairing to cover the radio.
Pros: Ease of installation and use.
Reading the description of this product makes one believe it is suitable for marine use which is incorrect. I replaced an older version faceplate cover with this one and within a sort period of time the sliding face of this product did not want to slide open smoothly. I had to clean a small amount of dust from the sliding tracks. That is a common occurrence yet not this product's major flaw. The biggest problem with this product involves it actually channeling water directly to the head unit it is suppose to be protecting. In the description it clearly states it has a foam gasket which apparently did not help keep water away from my expensive head unit. It took a five minute afternoon drizzle to put my Kenwood into some sort of flashing "protection" mode. I cut the power to the unit and allowed it to dry which the unit worked fine a day later. I used silicone to seal the back of this cover to the boat in order to keep the water out. No dice. The problem is the sliding face plate allowed water into the head unit. The next time I was out it rained again. This time there was not hope for the Kenwood. It no longer works because I trusted a product that claimed to be a marine product and clearly was not. The best use for this product does not involve an application where it
Pros: Looked like a factory part
Cons: Head unit suffered water damage from rain. Flimsy sliding door that is stubborn and does not want to slide open unless it is super clean. Latch holding door down opens itself. Plastic got hair line scratches easily.
This is a really nice cover. Worth the price. Fit my stereo perfectly. Operates flawless. I really like the spring loaded front cover operation. Hoping to get a lot of years service out of it.
Pros: Nice cover that provides protection to the stereo.
Cons: The overall footprint of the cover installed was bigger than I realized. But that is my fault for not understanding the measurements before I installed it.
Cons: Cover does not stay down.
Replacing factory installed unit just like this. Glad to be able to find exact match. Good looks & function. Better than the competition. Give it a try. Crutchfield Rocks! Great service!
Pros: Good looks & function.
This cover works great, but throw away the template that they sent in the package. Take your own measurements and make the necessary hole cuts. You could imagine how frustrating it was to install with a outdated template!
Pros: Works great once installed.
Cons: Template needs updated.Crutchfield response on August 26, 2013 Thanks for your review. We're letting the manufacturer know about the problem with the template. The dimensions listed on the template are correct, but you're right; they do not match the dimensions of the template printout.
Easy to install and great protection!
Pros: Ease of installation.
Cons: None so far!
Works as described.
Pros: Surprisingly fast (and free!) delivery.
REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY.
Easy to install. Looks great. Fits our new unit perfectly.
Pros: easy installation.
Looks good, seems to be well built. Unfortunately it would not work for my application.
Worked perfectly. West Marine did not carry the size I needed and this product was a perfect fit. And it arrived next day!
the door springs are to weak ! door wont stay latched closed ! package missing template ! , had to make mine. door scratched out of package ! just a all around bummer, if i hadnt took so much time to install i would have sent back ! another inferior product as far as i am concerned .
The smoky cover just flaps open with the slightest breeze of air...literally! What you end up with is a bulky frame around your exposed receiver. The latch mechanism is plastic and of poor quality... complete design flaw. The slightest vibration or touch opens the cover. Driving the boat down the road, on the water et al.... unless the vessel/vehicle is sitting absolutely still, will elicit such a response. this provides no protection whatsoever. I hope crutchfield will test this product and offer a better design. They also sent me a different model free of charge, it looks like it will stay closed more or less (Metra-99 cover...). Go with that one. Because now I'd have to drill new holes in my boat and caulk the old ones from this Scosche because the Metra is slightly less bulky.
Overview: The Universal water-resistant radio cover protects your car stereo receiver in marine applications (or open off-road vehicles). The kit allows you to install most DIN or shaft receivers. The kit is mounted using the four included screws. The Kit's mounting hole spacing is 9.028" wide x 2.003" tall.
Hinged Cover: The kit features a tinted hinged cover with a spring-loaded latch. The heavy-duty hinged cover is supported by dual springs which support the cover while it's open.
Water Resistance: The kit includes a foam gasket to protect the receiver from water seeping in around the frame.

I don't know much about stereo equipment but I have purchased from them in the past based on their advice and it was right on target. I need a new stereo for the boat, and I trust their advice. Also I have had Kenwood home stereo tuner for over thirty five years and still works great. [ P Jan 02, 2017 ]

Installed this cover in the past. It looks good. The only issue I had was that it did not want to stay latched. Hope this one works better. Other then the latch issue it worked very good. [ MICHAEL L Mar 01, 2016 ]
I don't remember the distance between the mounting holes but I did have to enlarge my single din opening about a quarter of an inch so the cover could roll back when opened. [ Michael Sep 20, 2016 ]
