Good Mounting Bracket - Bad Instructions

Mark from Castle Rock, CO on 9/21/2017

2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Id give it a 5 star if it had instructions telling you that you have to trim the inside tabs out of the unit. I probably spent an hour trying to figure out how to make 6.5" Rockford Fosgate Prime speakers into this unit for my 2013 Silverado front doors. Once they told me to trim all the tabs, which break off easily and clean, they went in clean, but the screws were not long enough to make it through the plastic and metal of the door, which you have to use on this type of speaker. Because you end up with the open holes, not the circular holes when installing. Little disappointed they didn't have a quick start guide to tell you that if you have certain speakers this is the fix. I contacted Scoche online chat and they told me what to do. Otherwise they fit the Chevy door part perfectly.

Pros: Fit clean and tight in Chevy Silverado 08-13 as quoted.

Cons: They have no instructions telling you that you have to trim the inner tabs off for certain speakers. Most 6.5" by the looks of it.

Perfect fit in my 2010 since suburban and only used existing hardware from factory speaker to mount. Used new 6.75 Kenwood speakers from crutchfield and they mounted with supplied hardware. The 6.5 mounts snap off very easy since they are pretty scored just need pliers to bend and snap off. Best thing they were free with the purchase of the speakers. Great job crutchfield!

Pros: The speaker adapters fit great in my truck speaker wells, and they arrived right on time. Great tech support!!!

Cons: The new speakers would not fit into the speaker adapters. I had to call tech support because there wasn't any instructions in the box that told me what tech support told me to do.

Leave it to GM to make some silly bracket into the door speakers THAT YOU CANNOT REUSE! This bracket is the answer for that problem. Mount your speaker to the bracket, plug it in, and one screw holds the whole assembly in the door. Ya I could have made a bracket, but why bother when you can just order these...

Pros: Now I can use any aftermarket speaker in my doors. Time saver and at a good price.

Cons: This plastic material these are made from is not as heavy duty as the factory brackets. Just be careful not to use a power drill to mount or you might crack them. Otherwise none noted.

These fit my 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab pickup very nicely. Used them in all 4 doors. I did put self-drilling sheet metal screws in the 2 side tabs just to minimize any risk of rattling. I also transferred the self-adhesive foam tape from the GM factory speaker units over to these. Overall these brackets made the installation of 6-3/4" speakers a breeze.

I found the Scosche SAGMHR-634 mounting brackets to be made of durable plastic. Some reviews of this product stated that the product was "flimsy"...I disagree. The bracket itself fit easily into the door panel of my vehicle. If you are installing 6 3/4" speakers in these brackets, you have to break off the inner tabs in order for the speaker to fit tightly against the bracket. No instructions were included with the brackets...I found this information online at Crutchfield. I used 6-32 x 1/2" long screws with nuts to attach the speaker to the mounting bracket.

Pros: Fit the door opening perfectly

Cons: Some modification required to mount the speaker to the mounting bracket itself No directions were shipped with the product; had to search internet and found online at Crutchfield that you are supposed to break some tabs off of the product in order to fit 6 3/4" speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These came with my four 6.75" Kicker speakers for my 2010 Silverado 1500 crew cab. I had to procure my own screws because they do not come with any and I had to figure out what size to use. Unexpected, but no big deal. Once the speakers are mounted to these brackets, they fit right into the factory holes in the metal of your doors. I ran into 2 problems. First, they do come with a gasket to go between the bracket and the sheet metal of the door. Fortunately, I was able to peel away the thin foam mounting gaskets from the back of the factory speaker brackets and reuse them. Secondly, since the depth of the bracket is about 2.5" shallower than the factory one, a 2.5" gap was left between my speaker and the sound opening of my door panel. This causes your sound to bounce around inside your doors reverberating and booming. This is why the factory speakers also have thick foam baffles on the front of them to couple them to the sound ports of the door panels. So...I could either buy some Fast Rings or make some. The price is ridiculous, so I opted to get some 1" thick foam from Hobby Lobby. I cut the foam into 2.5" wide strips to surround the circumference of the brackets. I used some 3M super bonding spray adhesive to attach the foam around the brackets to form the tunnel gaskets. Then I used 24" zip ties to cinch around the foam so no way will it come off the bracket. My home made foam baffles made all the difference in the world so take notice.

Pros: Made install easier.

Cons: May require purchase of baffle between speaker and door panel.

The mounting brackets fit my application perfectly. Mounting the speakers to the brackets could be a little challenging for someone. These brackets are a DYI dream! Prefect fit every time. I added a thin layer of weather stripping around front and back of the bracket like the oem speakers had along with some thin foam baffles on the back. The overall sound and appearance make these brackets a must have for all stock speaker upgrades. The Downloadable MasterSheets make installations even easier and safer than ever. Oh yeah, and all of this comes free with all speaker purchases?! Wow.....just wow

These brackets were a perfect, same as factory fit for all 4 doors of my 2008 Chevy Silvarado. The brackets are designed to fit 6 1/2 speakers. But I put some Kicker 6 3/4 speakers in them. There were zero fitment issues in the doors. The the brackets had holes on the exterior of the rim that fit the speakers perfectly. There are some tabs that point to the middle of the speaker hole on the brackets, for smaller speaker designs. They are in the way for these larger speakers. But 30 seconds with a hack saw solved that. This is a very well designed product that makes installation a breeze

Speaker Mounting Made Easy

2007 Chevrolet Impala
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Free with my purchase...how can I pass that up! They fit right into the OE speaker locations and the new speakers bolted easily onto the brackets. No misalignment, no hassle, just bolted right in. The OE speaker had a rubber isolation ring that these did not come with, but I was easily able to remove the ring from the OE speaker with a hair dryer and then apply it to the new bracket.

Pros: Price, solid construction, easily adaptable to multiple speaker diameters and easily installed

Cons: The mounting surface was slightly curved where as the mating face of the bracket was flat...the bracket may have flexed a little bit, but not enough to distort the speaker in any way.

Used these brackets to mount JBL GT7-6 speakers to the rear doors of my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab. Holes in speakers and brackets did not line up. Had to drill holes though the speakers and the brackets. The construction of the bracket interfered with the back of the speaker and the speaker would not lay flat on the bracket. Obviously the manufacturer of the bracket cannot manufacture a bracket universal to all speakers without some sort of problem. Have an assortment of screws, nuts and bolts on hand.

Pros: Enabled mounting the speaker to the door.

Cons: Had to drill the speakers and the brackets. had to use different screws other than those provided. A pain to work with.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Scosche speaker mounting brackets fit just right on my 2008 GMC Sierra. The only thigh is that you have to remove the tabs inside the brackets for tone 6-3/4 inch speakers to fit flush. No big deal just snip them off and your done. I did not use the slotted anchor points that are on the brackets because when I secured the speakers through them it did not feel solid enough, felt that with the vibration of the truck and time the speaker would come loose. I just drilled the mounting screws through a different hold on the speakers through the solid part of the mounting bracket plastic. That anchored the speaker better to the bracket, more solid. The brackets aligned perfect in the door and the speaker baffles gave it more secure snug fit. All in all they worked great on my doors and they were included with my purchase of the speakers. Thank you Crutchfield.

Pros: Great fit for replacement brackets

Cons: Needed some modifications, no big deal

Easily replaced the factory speaker bracket. The screws to hold the speaker wouldn't tighten up to my liking. I had to find some that were small enough to fit the speaker but large enough to tighten up. Having these allows you to save a little time by letting you have a complete assembly ready to go when you remove the factory speaker.

These were a must to install speakers in the front doors of a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500. The stock openings are squarish, so just pulling the onld ones out and installing new speakers would REQUIRE some fab work. With these mounts, it was a breeze. It has tabs for installing a 5.5", or you can break the tabs out to install a 6.25" speaker. There were minimal instructions, but if you can't figure this one out... you have no business pulling your door panel off to begin with.

Pros: Great product. Fit perfectly. Works for both 5 and 6 inch speakers.

Cons: NONE

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these for upgrading the rear door speakers in my 2015 Silverado Dbl Cab with Kicker 6.75. The back of the speaker frame is too big to allow the speakers to sit flush on the adapter. I had to take a pare of side cutters and remove the plastic speaker mounting holes that stick out towards the center of the adapter. My speakers didn't need these holes and once they were cut away the speaker dropped right in and sat flush with the adapter. The mounting holes didn't line up perfect but close enough. The speaker mounting screws supplied by Kicker were to narrow to bite into the adapter's plastic mounting hole. They get snug but not tight. The speaker still seemed secure and with the way it is mounted in the door I don;t thin it will be a problem but I will keep an eye on it. The adapter secured tightly to the door frame.

Pros: Allows an upgrade from factory speakers. Fits snug in speaker opening and door frame.

Cons: Had to remove plastic to allow the 6.75 Kicker to sit flush on the adapter. Kicker mounting hardware screws were too narrow to tightly secure the speaker to the adapter.

These are a very close match to the molded plastic surrounds on the existing speakers. I took off one star because A) they don't come with any usable instructions B) for my particular installation I had to remove some plastic tabs that were on the brackets (instructions would have made this clear) C) the tabs don't remove cleanly, (they need to be dressed afterwards) D)the screws dont really go in holes, they kind of thread in slots, which makes them fit various sized speakers, but I fear they will loosen with all the vibration. That being said, I had really no issues installing them, they did fit the speakers/vehicle & you can't really expect more since they were FREE!

These were included for free from Crutchfield. I am giving them 4 stars as I had to go find screws and nuts to hold my new speakers in these come with nothing. I also had to trim them quite a bit on the inside to fit the Kicker 40CS674 6-3/4" speakers. They are not quite as tall as the factory speakers they are designed to replace, I had to find some foam tape to fill in the gap above the speaker rim otherwise there will be a road noise from the space.. The factory design was about a 1/2" taller and they fit closer to the grille.

Pros: Similar to factory

Cons: No foam tape or screws included and they may require trimming.

I don't know why manufacturers love making it so we always have to buy adapters. I know they have to position the speakers just right to match their door panels but can't they design to use a standard speaker? The Scosche speaker brackets made it a breeze to swap out the proprietary factory speakers with aftermarket's. Once I removed the door panels, it took only 5 minutes to remove the old speaker and install the brackets. My only complaints are the brackets could be stiffer and they should include metal clips for the speaker screws instead of stripping the soft plastics

Pros: Easy install Time saving

Cons: Plastic is soft and easy to strip out the speaker screws

Long lasting and durable.

I actually have two pair of these brackets, one from a previous installation and one the I received free with the purchase with a pair of speakers. They are tough and they fit my car perfect, and they are so snug I could barely put sound dampening material around them. Quality buy. Make sure you don't get two pair if you're buying speakers at the time, because Crutchfield will send you some freebies and you can save $12 bucks.

Pros: Strong and durable; you only need one pair for the life of your car unless you total the car.

Cons: None they fit snug and make using Dynamat aroud them a challenge. Try a sound dampening paste for permanent options or don't even use anything it won't effect the sound too much I'm just an avid listener.

This is surely a quality produce and you can't beat the price!. They fit in my 09 Sierra well, although about 3/4 of an inch more shallow that the factory bracket. My issue was the bracket was to small for the 6.75 RF speakers (Rockford Fosgate Prime R165X3 6-3/4" 3-way car speakers) I purchased. Like James in Calif, I resorted to removing the factory from the original mountong bracket and tie wrapping the new speaker to the old more substantial mounting bracket. To bad GM can't make speakers to match the quality and durability of the bracket they put the $3 speakers in!! Despite the xtra efforts the speakers are great, trhe service was quick and the cost unbeatable. Anybody nees 4 of these brackets?

Pros: Price

Cons: Not a true match to the speakers I purchased.

Cons: Could use some sort of cushioning where plastic meets door for added reduction in vibration.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used in 2007 Avalanche. Got these to mount some aftermarket speakers in the doors and they worked like a charm. They do require a little drilling and they do not come with any extra screws for mounting but other than that, they do exactly what they are supposed to and fit in the stock areas perfectly with no interference with the door panels at all.

Pros: Make it very easy to install upgraded speakers without interfering with stock appearance.

Cons: Require a small amount of drilling and do not include any mounting screws.

These fit the back door well. They do not bring the speaker as far forward as the OEM. They do not make the wire adaptor for this truck yet. I cut the plug off the OEM speaker and soldered to the new speakers. I also cut the foam spacer off the OEM and glued onto the new speaker to fill the gap. The install went well enough. I will say I do not really notice a difference since the front stage over powers the rear stage. I would not spend the money again. on the back doors I would rather invest it in the front stage.

Pros: They fit.

Cons: none.

Does maie it easy to install speakers

HumpMan from Charlottesville, VA on 7/13/2014

Does make installation of replacement speakers in the doors of GMC/Chevy pickups very easy. Not quite as solid as the OEM speakers, but decent. Do wish they came with mounting hardware for the speakers (I wound up getting some nuts and bolts) and foam tape to go between the plate and the door metal would be nice. I did what others have done and reused the foam from the OEM speakers.

Pros: Makes installation dirt simple. Moves speaker away from door to move it closer to the door grills

Cons: Could be thicker or stiffer plastic. Would have been nice to have some hardware and foam tape included.

sirbOOm from Atlanta, GA on 6/17/2014

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unfortunately, while these do work in the sense that they hole speakers in a goofy door cutout, they are not made of strong enough material for (1) heavier midbass/midrages, (2) I've seen speakers come out of these many times because the screw points are thin, weak plastic, and (3) to ensure the most midbass. You want a stiff, stiff, stiff, hard, hard, hard, dense, dense, dense baffle. If you can bend the baffle with your hands, then it's just not going to cut it, IMO. These are essentially only good for router templates, IMO.

Pros: Good for a router template

Cons: Not strong enough plastic. Should be harder, thicker, and not bendable.

They fit ok and made for an easier transition to the new speakers since the factory originals were pretty much glued to the same kind of bracket. 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used these adapters with Infinity PR6502is front speakers to replace the factory in my 2013 Silverado LT. Crutchfield included a wiring harness adapter that worked after a little tweek with some needle-nose pliers. The adapters fit the factory mount very well, however, the speakers mount to the "plastic" adapter with the sheet metal screws that came with the speakers. I understand that the adapters were free with my speaker purchase but I felt a little uncomfortable mounting my speakers to these plastic adapters with the speaker screws. They screw into the plastic that is slotted for the speaker hole mount. Will see how they handle bumps and bounces over time - for now they are snug. They were fairly easy to install. Recommend.

Pros: Easy to install and good fit.

Cons: Mounting hardware for the speaker itself is a little squirrely. I would have rather had small machine screws with nuts.

These do the job

2011 GMC Sierra from Northwest Arkansas on 5/2/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They function as they should. But they are pretty cheap and flimsy. If you have 6-3/4" speakers you have to break the tabs off (which is not super easy). Should just make a 6-3/4" bracket. I would highly advise getting some sort of gasket (or similar) material to apply to the edges that touch the metal parts of the door. This would help the speaker/sound/potential rattles.

Pros: Free with order.

Cons: bare minimum. needs foam or gasket type material at edges that touch the door surfaces. must break off inside tabs if using 6-3/4" speaker. kind of a pain! (but hey they were free)

Volfan from Tennessee on 1/17/2014

2007 Pontiac G6
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Scosche SAGMHR-634 Speaker Mounting Brackets fit and worked great. I did have to trim all of the plastic tabs protruding outward to work on my Pontiac G6. I think you are supposed to be able to break them off but I used my band saw instead to cut them off. Being a sort of 'universal' fit adapter bracket for various model GM cars, it did take me a little time to figure out the best way to mount my speakers to the brackets to suit me ... but they did work really well when it was all done. Using Alpine SPS -610C Speakers I used their mounting adapter spacers between the speakers and the Scosche adapter brackets. Then I used some medium density foam weather stripping around the perimeter of the speakers to cushion and seal between the speakers and the door panels. My object was to make sure that the finished installation distance from the door metal to the outside edge of the foam was the same as the original factory installation so the door panel would fit good against the speakers. This can be accomplished by measuring the distance from the Scosche mounting bracket surface where it mounts to the door metal to the outward edge of the mounted speaker (and/or foam) ... then compare the same to the original factory speaker setup. Probably sounds worse than it really is but I'm just trying to help those of you that might, otherwise, have trouble. To sum it up ... I am very happy with this product and the end result ... they worked great!

Pros: A very good product that works very well to overcome GM's shortcomings ... of not leaving you any other options for installing aftermarket speakers.

Cons: The biggest Con is General Motors ... making SORRY proprietary speakers and mounts that will inevitably leave you without any other options to install aftermarket speakers. As far as this product is concerned, there are no cons really but they are 'universal' to some extent to fit various GM models and they might require a little ingenuity, innovative thinking and patience to figure out the best installation procedure possible on your vehicle.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have an 08 chevy, the 6 1/2" fit fine. the 6 3/4" worked ok, just not as easy as lining up holes and screwing. I used the slot things they have. It got a LITTLE agrevating but not too bad. I was still able to use the metal tennerman clips the screws tighten in as well, just did one screw at a time and didnt tighten any of them untilI had them all started. My only thing is the factory speaker bracket is a "SCOSCHE" bit deeper (pun intended). Meaning it kind of put the speaker more closely against the door panel. I decided not to worry because maybe the aftermarket woofer could move more, and they space them out a little so you dont get a buzz from the woofer hitting the door panel. So I definetely would use again because, I really dont know what else I could do other than make a bracket....

Pros: beats fabricating my own

Cons: Maybe they could do something else for the 6 3/4" mounting screws? But it still did work...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The factory speakers had an integral bracket shaped like the Scoche brackets, so I needed these to retro-fit the new Alpines in my truck. They worked fine, but the holes that hold the speaker screws were rather flimsy and should have been a solid piece of plastic with a hole, rather than the slot that ran the full length of the support

Pros: Price ($0)

Cons: Not sure the speaker securing screws (4) have enough bite into the bracket.

Good solid mount once I figuered out how the speaker mounted to it.

Pros: Good solid mount once I figuered out how the speaker mounted to it.

Cons: the 4 long screws it comes with go through the speaker holes into the mount holes loosley and then bottom out against the vehicle door before it tightens up. I used my own srews with nuts and washers for a solid mount.

They fit the car door very well. Could provide a better way of mounting the speaker to the adapter,--very cheap, but they serve the purpose.

Pros: Fit the door to a tee.

Cons: could provide a better way to attach the speakers to the adapter. VERY flimsy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed four of these units in my 2007 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab. These are for the new body style. If I would have not installed them myself and had taken the door panels off, I would have thought they were factory. I installed all four after mounting the speakers first in less then an hour. Units did not come with mounting hardware for the speakers so I had to use my own hardware.

Pros: Perfect fit.

Cons: No mounting hardware for speakers. That's why I gave it a four star rating.

These adapters made the speaker upgrade simple. I replaced both front speakers in my 2500 HD pickup in 45 minutes.

Pros: Matched factory interface perfectly.

Cons: I would prefer that the speakers connection would have been a hole that I could screw the fastener in directly. There were 4 slots that required putting a nut on the back, which is inconvenient and difficult because there is little space.

Can't give five stars but - they did the job with a little trim. Installed 6.75 in. speakers - the little tabs on the inside of the ring were preventing a flush fit. A couple of minutes with a dremel and that was solved. After that - went in without any issues, problems or hassles. 2011 Silverado Reg cab door.

Pros: Easy installation Perfect fit No drilling required

Cons: Have to trim inner tabs for 6.75 inch speakers to fit flush

Great product. Just take out the one mounting bolt on the old one. Mount the new speaker and re-install. Don't know why they don't have one for the rear speakers but I just took a jigsaw and cut our the old speaker and re-mounted the new speaker in its place. Worked just like the front bracket. I highly recommend these for a quick and easy installation.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Recently wanted to swap out the factory speakers in my 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab and found that GM has made that task much more painful than it needs to be. I bought these thinking they were for the rear doors just to find that they're for the front doors, and pretty much nobody makes a bracket for the rear doors. Got these in the mail and tried them out, they kind of fit, could lock into the bottom a little better. I also had to drill my own hole in the top above the factory screw hole to bolt it into the door. The plastic could be stronger, to keep it from vibrating I put a little padding between the door and the bracket on each side. So far works pretty well, and for the price I can't complain too much.

Pros: Price.

Cons: Needs some tweaking to fit the rear doors in the 2009 Silverado Extended Cab. Plastic could be stronger.

I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado, and in 4 years my front speakers are blown, Dealer wants $40 each, and I could very well have the original crap. Another nation wide store with in house installation said they don't need the bracket to install the speakers! No, I didn't want them sheet metal screwing my speakers into my door panels. This bracket fit great, and utilizes factory GM mounting points, and holds a variety of speakers very securely. Be patient and order from Crutchfield.

Cons:

Good product, would have been a solid mount if I could have used it. Lines up with the original gm speaker perfectly, does not accomodate all speakers securely though.

Pros: Replaces stock speaker and mount to the T. Making for the best bass and sound distribution.

Cons: Does not securely hold the polk audio speakers that it came as installation hardware for. The screws holding the speakers to the mount would have had to been wedged in a small plastic mouth designed to hold speakers in place. It did not seem safe or sturdy to me. However polk sends their own universal hardware that may be smaller, but worked 10x better.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Requires trimming, so it isn't a "direct fit". I had to use some small wire snips to trim all of the tabs off of the inside ring (the speaker wouldn't seat into it otherwise). Then I had to use a steak knife (a razor blade would have been too light duty) to clean up the remaining burrs. I also had to use the clips that came with the speakers as a "washer" on the back of the mounting holes, otherwise I was screwing into flimsy plastic and Im quite certain that the speakers would have come loose in a short amount of time. Not a task for everyone, so beware... But after the required modifications it seems to be the ticket.

Pros: Works

Cons: Requires significant modification

The brackets fit securely inside the door panels. However I've found that the hardware included with the speakers does not provide a secure fit to the brackets as far as I'm concerned. Screws into the plastic bracket and cannot be tightened enough. I'm sure they will come loose and I will have to find another way to secure them to the bracket.

Pros: Make installation a breeze.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They work well, after some clipping and grinding. I had to clip and grind the mounting holes on the inside of the bracket to get my Kicker 6.5s to fit flush. Also, the mounting holes I did use are not narrow enough, so the screws that I was going to use(what came with the speakers) were not going to hold the speaker very well and I was afraid it would eventually vibrate out. Fortunately, I had some bolts with lock washers and nuts that I used instead. They then mounted and were firmly attached. However, I then had to cut the bolts to be flush with the bracket, else it would not mount on the door. I seriously spent a good hour and a half just getting my speakers mounted in these brackets.

Pros: Mounts speakers in my 07 G6 after some customization

Cons: Holes for screws not narrow enough to hold speaker securely.
