A long-time favorite among discerning listeners, the HD 600 headphones are an excellent choice for pro-audio recording engineers and home audiophile music lovers alike. Sennheiser's exacting design standards and construction quality ensure outstanding performance. The HD 600s will dazzle you with their ability to convey music's dynamics and emotion. Deep, effortless bass anchors your listening experience while the headphones' rich midrange and airy treble help render instruments from acoustic bass to soprano saxophone and electric guitars with stunning realism.
The HD 600s' drivers boast lightweight aluminum voice coils for superb accuracy and fast transient response. You'll experience wide, open sound that complements everything from sweeping orchestral arrangements to high-impact movie soundtracks. The metal mesh on the back of the earcups leaves them open to provide added spaciousness and prevent unwanted vibrations from coloring the sound. The Kevlar-reinforced, oxygen-free copper cord ensures clean signal transfer.
The elliptically shaped velour earpads fit gently but snugly over the ear. The padded adjustable headband and earcups make these 'phones ideal for long hours of comfortable music listening.

Great head set...soft round the ears and sweet sounding!
You won't find a headphone more discussed than the Sennheiser HD 6xx line over the last 20 years, and for good reason. They are easily the best headphones at their price point. Sound quality is unbelievable. Bass is tight and accurate but it does lose punch when extending into the sub-bass. The mids are what I would consider perfect. Vocals are second to none: lush, clear, and natural. It's the kind of perfect that has me going through my entire library to listen to how vocals should sound. Treble has good energy and does not fatigue. It gives a great sense of airiness and clarity. Imaging is just about perfect: every sound is perfectly placed and places you in the center of a bubble of sound. I can't help but smile when I listen to amazing production by the likes of Quincy Jones for MJ, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and many others. Soundstage is not the biggest/widest, but because the imaging is so good, it's honestly hard to care. Looks are subjective, but I think the marble finish is beyond cool as it just screams 90's, reminding me of how long these have been around. Build is mostly plastic with a CFRP headband (which can break if stretched too hard) and metal grilles. These clamp pretty tight out of the box, but loosen nicely with use and become very comfortable with the help of the large, oval velour pads and the soft headband foam. Being open headphones, don't expect any noise reduction. I cannot recommend this headphone highly enough. I also cannot take them o
Pros: Sound quality, looks, comfort once broken in
Cons: Absolutely none
I'd actually not recommend this product for most listers, being that this is not the dynamic headphone that the casual listener prefers. However, for audiophiles that desire the most accurate reproduction of recordings then I wholeheartedly recommend this product.
Superb sound - nice clean separation of highs, miss, and lows. Clean base and not too heavy. Best headphones I've ever had!
Pros: Sound , works with iPod as well as main receiver
Cons: A little tight on my head
These Sennheiser HD600 headphones are terrific! The fit is comfortable and the sound is well balanced. I can see why these have been a reference standard for nearly 20 years. Money well spent!
Pros: Good fit, neutral, well balanced sound, detachable cable
Cons: A bit plasticky, open driver offers little to no sound isolation
Excellent sound, comfortable. The only downside is a cable that needs to be replaced every few years. My first HD600 I got about 10 years ago, and they have performed flawlessly. This is a second pair for work.
Pros: Great sound. Comfortable.
Cons: Mediocre cable (just needs replacing every few years for about $20).
Well known and excellent headphones, especially for classical and jazz. Realistic presentation and soundstage. The most comfortable headphones I have ever had.
Pros: Fantastic sound and comfort. Great value. Not for the bassheads.
These headphones still are some of the best ever made. Most limitations are due to hearing acuity rather than HD600 performance. I have multiple sets of headphones including the HD 800's. The HD 600's are my favorite and most used. Like the familiarity of a well worn set of blue jeans, this my second pair of HD 600's just set the norm for my concept of comfort in tne sound of good music.
Pros: Produces the sounds of all genres of music as recorded. You hear what was intended to be heard.
Cons: Headband could have be in different colors and patterns.
Nice neutral sound, very balanced, comfortable to wear
Pros: Neutral sound Balanced Warm
Cons: might be too warm for some people who are accustom to accentuated highs
These headphones really are underrated. For some reason, they have relegated to a "stepchild" position for most people ever since the HD650s came out. Don't think that just because the HD650 is a higher model number than HD600 that the HD650 must be better. I had both the HD650 and the HD600 at the same time, and I prefer the sound of the HD600s (returned the HD650s). The HD650s do have a tiny bit of a veil, and they are quite laid back, even with very good equipment. To me the HD600s are just right. There is no veil, and there is just a bit more treble and speed. A lot of people say the HD650s have more bass, but I disagree. If there is bass in the music, the HD600s will produce it accurately. By no means are the HD600s headphones for true bass heads, but if you want headphones that accurately portray the level of bass that is in the music, the HD600s are for you. These are pretty easy to drive and will work well out of the headphone jack of a receiver, but do yourself a favor and get a decent headphone amp. Sennheisers LOVE tube amps, so my advice is to get a good OTL tube amp. My personal choice is the Woo Audio WA3. This amp paired with the HD600s is magic, and the amp is only a bit more than the HD600s in cost.
Pros: --Accurate--not tipped on the high or low end--just right --I find them very comfortable--the most comfortable cans I've used --Sound better than the HD650s but cost $100 less --Most parts can easily be replaced, which means your investment will last longer --The cable is fully detachable from the cups so you can easily change the cable if you want to
Cons: --The materials feel just a tad cheap, but the cans are not delicate --They are definitely open cans, so everyone around you can hear your music almost as well as you can --The stock cable is not good; get a Sennheiser replacement cable for the HD650s (they fit these and sound better than the stock HD600 cable)
Let me just say that these head-phones can handle it all! I listen to alot of music. Try Steve Khan-Public Access. This is my TEST CD! People that listen on these head-phones, well, pretty much have made the right choice. I have a McIntosh MHT200, it works very well with these head-phones. It will pick out the older recordings, because the Amp has it, the head-phones have it. But, this will tell you how good the recording really is. Thanks for reading, GREG
Pros: Looks and Sound.
Cons: Had to replace the cord that connects to the amp and the bottom of the speakers. The replacements are better. Sorry to say, do not know the brand. GREG
I cannot believe I am the first person to write a review for these amazing headphones here on Crutchfield. These headphones replaced my Shure SRH-840 as my primary headphones. Build Quality, Appearance and Comfort: If you're like me and cosmetics have some value, then these headphones will please your eye. The granite-like marble finish of the headband is made of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. They feel extremely sturdy while maintaining a very light weight. The velour pads are extremely comfortable and the cups are deep, my ears have plenty of "breathing room". The headband extender is also very strong and requires some force to adjust, this is good because it will never lose it's position. Sound Quality: Being 300 Ohms they are absolutely stellar when amplified, still very good from PC/smart phone (clarity is there, but lacking detail). Hooked up to my Valhalla tube amp and Modi DAC, these cans absolutely sing. From Rock to Rap to Classical to Dubstep, these headphones produce details I've never heard before in my music. Since these beauties are open-back you will be able to hear a pin drop, sometimes I forget I'm wearing them if music is not playing. They leak lots of sound, so make sure nobody around you will mind the music they will most definitely be forced to hear. But because of this, the sound stage is very wide and open. The lows are smooth, the mid's are stunning, and the highs are angelic. I can't say enough about this 15 year old contender. It's a winner!!
Pros: Extremely detailed clarity across the spectrum, neutral tone and no over-exaggeration in the sound stage. Very comfortable, sturdy, and lightweight. They look awesome and are definitely an eye catcher. Considering the cost of some other headphones, these are an absolute steal. Perfect, in my humble opinion.
Cons: None. Except that you may dislike some recording quality of your music, not a fault of the headphone.....

Overview: The Sennheiser HD 600 audiophile-grade headphones are optimized for high-resolution recordings, and are ideal for active listening sessions or master engineering work. They utilize several high-end technologies to provide superb performance in any environment.
"Open-Aire" Design: The HD 600 headphones feature an "open-aire" design to give you an exceptionally natural, spatial, and accurate sound. Opposite of a closed, noise-isolating earcup, the HD 600s have high-quality, open metal mesh grilles behind the transducers for an extremely transparent sound.

Neodymium-ferrous magnets give you optimum sensitivity and an excellent dynamic response. Extremely lightweight aluminum voice coils ensure excellent transient response.
Headphone Cable: The HD 600 headphones come with a detachable, 10-foot oxygen-free copper (OFC) cable, reinforced with Kevlar fibers for strength and to eliminate contact noise. The cable is terminated with a 3.5mm miniplug, and comes with a 1/4" adapter.

Had Sennheiser headphone before...and price looked good![ MICHAEL B. Nov 26, 2016 ]
Read a lot of good reviews that these are very high quality, audiophile level headphones that are very accurate and true to the music without adding any bumped up bass, yet are smooth enough so they won't be bright sounding.[ Michael L. Mar 21, 2016 ]
Excellent Stereophile review.[ sean Feb 27, 2016 ]
