Peavey PV® 10 BT
10-channel mixer with USB interface, digital effects, and Bluetooth®
Our take on the Peavey PV® 10 BT by Crutchfield's Buck Pomerantz
For live musicians
If you use 3 or 4 microphones along with a couple of channels for electronic instruments and playback, then Peavey's PV 10 BT mixer will handle your performance with ease. Four channels can handle vocals or instruments, while an "analog media channel" takes line level signals via RCA, headphone, or unbalanced 1/4" jacks. The "digital media channel" gets its signal via USB-A on the front of the mixer, USB-B on the rear, or wireless Bluetooth connection. A tablet cradle holds your portable device in a handy position on the mixer while it streams music. Channel 9/10 is another stereo input used for 2-track playback or for an outboard effects return.
Getting the tone right
A 3-band EQ lets you set the tone for each channel. Special Mid-Morph EQ on the mic channels clarifies vocals by either cutting out lower mid muddiness or adding upper mid intelligibility. Adjustable compressors on the first two channels give you control over their dynamics. Onboard digital effects — 16 different adjustable reverbs and delays are available — help vocals and acoustic instruments come alive onstage and sound full. The mixer's Aux output channel can be sent to powered stage monitors or any other outboard device.
For home studio recording
The PV 10 BT offers a lot of features geared to the home recordist. First of all, its USB output allows you to connect digitally with your computer's DAW software. That same connection also serves as one of the mixer's digital inputs, for monitoring your DAW's output with control room speakers and headphones, or as another sound source for a live take. You can plug an electric guitar directly into channel 4, using its guitar preset, so you can shred into your DAW without needing a loud amp and cabinet.
Control room monitors
Many recording studios have two sets of monitors — one small pair near the engineer and a larger pair farther away — to ensure finished mixes will sound good on everybody's stereo. The PV 10 BT features two control room outputs and a switch so you can quickly toggle between two speaker sets in order to compare the sounds.

Features and Specs
|Phantom power||+48 volts|
Overview: The PV10BT is an 10 channel analog mixer which includes reference quality mic preamps, Bluetooth wireless input, MP3 playback via USB, Peavey's exclusive Kosmos audio enhancement, 3-band EQ per channel with bypass, high quality digital effects with LCD display, 48-volt phantom power for inputs 1-4.
Inputs: All of the PV10BT's inputs are located on the top of unit for easy access. Channels 1-4 are mono inputs and have XLR and 1/4" jacks with channel 4 having a mic/line input selector switch. Channel 5/6 is a stereo input with dual 1/4" inputs and a 3.5mm stereo input. Channel 5/6 also has a set of stereo RCA inputs for items such as a cd or mp3 player. Channel 7/8 inputs are dedicated to USB-A, USB-B, and Bluetooth inputs. Channel 9/10 are a stereo pair of 1/4" jacks that can be used as an aux input or as an effects return from an external processor. If only one jack is used, it becomes a mono input. If both jacks are used, it will be stereo with 9 being left and 10 being right. There's a 1/4" footswitch input designed to be used with Peavey's 2 Button Special Use Momentary Footswitch, Peavey part# 03014070, sold separately.
Outputs: Main outputs are dual 1/4" and XLR. There are also dual RCA control room outputs, 1/4" stereo headphone output, a USB-B input/output for computer, and one Aux Send with both 1/4" and XLR outputs. The mixer also has 1/4" direct outputs for inputs 1-4, which output the signal after the mic preamp, high-pass filter, and the compressor, but before the EQ stage.
USB/Bluetooth Media Player: Channels 7/8 are dedicated to both of the USB inputs and Bluetooth. Simple playback controls are provided for digital music files: play/pause, rewind/previous, and fast forward/next, plus Media Select to navigate through the folders and songs on the drive.
Compression: Channels 1 and 2 feature built-in compression controls. The compressor has a set ratio of 4:1 and is useful for controlling peak levels of the incoming audio.
Channel EQ: Channels 1-8 feature 3-band EQ with High and Low controls. Channels 1-4 have a Mid-Morph EQ which, when turned counterclockwise, will cut at 250Hz to reduce frequencies that muddy the sound. When turned clockwise, it boosts at 4kHz to add intelligibility to vocals. Channels 5-8 mid control will provide +/-20db @440Hz.
Kosmos-C: The PV10BT is equipped with Kosmos-C, a Peavey-exclusive technology that dramatically enhances the low end of the audio spectrum and increases high-end clarity. Kosmos-C adds harmonically related bass signals that track the original signal. You can adjust the level of Kosmos-C through a rotary control.
Digital Effects Processor: The mixer is equipped with a digital effects processor with 31 different effects. Channels 1-4 have dedicated effects sends as well as the main outputs. The effects include: 15 Reverb types, 8 Delays, 3 Enhancers, and 5 Chorus types.
Level Controls: Channels 1-4 have individual level controls while channel pairs 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10 have one level control for their respective stereo inputs. 2 faders control the main output level, and there's a headphone level as well.
