Find your way around with ease
Like the multi-touch display on your smartphone or tablet? The nüvi 3590LMT's glass screen gives you the same sort of fingertip control, allowing quick map zooming and shifting to give you the perspective you want. The display moves automatically between landscape and portrait orientation, making it ideal for discovering locales on foot. The nüvi 3590LMT also offers maps of the entire U.S. plus most of Canada, Mexico, and several Caribbean Islands, along with 8 million searchable points of interest.

Convenient control using your vocal cords
While the glass display makes the nüvi 3590LMT more fun to touch, you also have the option for safer operation with hands-free control. You can wake the navigator up with a customized voice command, then find the menu screen you want just by speaking. Or just say the address or name of the point of interest you want to find, and the nüvi will locate it for you quickly.

High-speed Garmin 3D Digital Traffic updates
When it comes to traffic information, nothing's more important than timeliness. Garmin's Digital 3D Traffic races past the competition, with updates that are up to 4 to 10 times faster than traditional services. It can feed you details every 30 seconds in some areas, using the HD Radio™ broadcasting system in addition to all the other sources Garmin traditionally uses. You'll see congestion as it develops and be able to route around it, rather than getting stuck at inopportune times. Best of all, the updates are free for the life of your navigator.

Advanced Garmin Guidance 3.0
The Garmin Guidance 3.0 feature set is the engine that drives the nüvi 3590LMT. You'll see maps load and routes form with uncanny speed, and you can save even more time by finding and selecting businesses right on the map screen. Text-to-speech voice prompts that say actual street names at turns keep you focused on the road, while Lane Assist guides you through tricky intersections. When you're entering an address or point of interest, the 3590LMT uses predictive text to give you more time traveling instead of searching.

Easy-to-follow visuals
Select landmarks and terrain aspects appear in 3D, giving you the most comprehensive view of your surroundings, which is especially helpful when you're exploring on foot. And photoReal™ junction views make complicated interchanges a breeze with easy-to-follow realistic representations, including signs. Sometimes the screen will split automatically to give you a photoReal view of an intersection so you'll have a clear picture of the next turn.

Garmin nuvi 3590LMT lane guidance

Handy features for every kind of driver
Do your friends call you "leadfoot"? The nüvi 3590LMT's speed limit displays with visual warnings on major roads can help keep you safe. A quick listing of destinations near approaching highway exits will save you valuable time when you're ready for a pit stop. You'll also find a photo viewer, "Where Am I?" emergency aid, audiobook player, trip planner, and other legacy Garmin features.

Learns your driving patterns to help you stay ahead of traffic
Garmin's myTrends™ feature keeps track of your driving habits and can predict where you're going once you're on your way, then give you an estimated time of arrival. If you live in an area not covered by the traffic info service, you can activate Garmin's trafficTrends™ feature, allowing the nüvi 3590LMT to take historic traffic data into account when creating routes. It'll guide you towards paths that are less congested depending on when you're traveling, saving you time and gas.

Terible_3590 from Brooklyn, NY on 8/30/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In 8/2013,on a car trip to/from Bklyn, NY to Ottawa, Canada, the 3590 repeatedly demanded I make a u-turn while going thru Thousand Islands border crossing to Canada. From Ottawa, in navigated me thru Montreal even after changing course along the 401 back to Thousand Islands border crossing. After Montreal,l it directed me away from the I -87. Google maps directed me around Manhattan (nightmare traffic)!!!, Nuvi 3590 directed me thru Manhattan using the GWB. 3590 directed me thru loops (back to the course I already travelled), longer routes & directed me away from shorter, closer courses to my destinations. A horrible experience for my first road trip!!

Pros: voice prompt, street names, lane guidance.

Cons: Unreliable,false navigation repeatedly.

Pretty Cool !!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I only had this GPS for a couple of weeks. I have a radar detector too but I don't speed. Guess I just like gadgets. I really do not drive that much so I probably do not know of it's capabilities or ever use them. I punched in a local restaurant one day and after spending an hour in the restaurant it asked to rate the restaurant when I returned to the car. I know that has nothing to do with getting to a destination but I thought that was pretty neat and more than I would expect from a GPS. I really love what I've seen so far. I use it to travel a much used route to a destination just to see it work. I can't really rate it's features too much having not used them.. I could have purchased a less expensive one but I like to think that you get what you pay for. I think I did.

Pros: All of it's features that I know of.

Cons: None that I know of.

Nuvi 3590LMT

GaryW from Palmdale, CA on 12/21/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have only been using the device for a few weeks and haven't had any problems with it. The 3D feature is nice and has reflected the terrain that i have driven through. I have the Ecoroute accessory that I used with the nuvi 1390 that this unit replaced and had no problem linking the 3590 to it. The screen is more responsive to touch and is easier to view then previous units I have owned. The only complaint I have so far is with the traffic reception. The 1390 picked up traffic problems quicker than this unit does. The traffic does offer more information once it does come in. I haven't used the voice command or blutooth as of yet so I can't comment on that.

Pros: More responsive touch screen and easier to view.

Cons: Weaker traffic reception than earlier model that it replaced.

This is the best

I now own three GPS devices, one purchased in 2005, one for my motorcycle and now this GPS. I have found it to be in my opinion top of the line. It does everything I need and it is very easy to operate.

Pros: User friendly, does practically everything for you.

Cons: None right now

Great Device

NormH from Felton, CA on 12/4/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This Garmin has exceded all my expectations. I've only had it for a week but on one trip I was really impressed with the re-routing it is lightining quick. On our 150 mile trip I told my wife we will follow all of the directions it gave us regardless. We were on a heavily traveled freeway and it had us turn off on one of the exits a good 50 miles from our next exit. As soon as we pulled off the freeway was at a dead stop and the directions had us parallel the freeway for about 5miles and has us get back on and the traffic was cleared up. This was the HD traffic that steered us around the incident pretty impressive.

Cons: none yet

Some what disappointed in its choice of routes...Cannot get it to go on interstates always looks for shortest route which usually take one through some very congested parts of town as well as plenty of stop lights

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works great. Has a lot of features. Takes a little reading to find out all the things it does, but not to bad. I use for vacation traveling. Also use it for off road use and the tracking function works great.

Pros: Very clear. Very accurate.

Cons: Does not come with an a/c charger for the house.

Very Dissapointed

Trevor from Vancouver, WA on 11/11/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this for 6 months and have found it largely unusable. I bought it to replace a 5 year old Garmin nuvi that I used constantly and, for the most part, was a great product until updates became too much for it's limited memory. This unit suffers from terrible reception - it can take hours to figure out where it is. It's unpredictable, difficult to program and unreliable. I had trouble trying to contact Garmin about this, and gave up when I got an iPad and added a 5 dollar app that does everything I need. I think dedicated GPS units are quickly becoming obsolete.

NUVI 3590

Boynton B from Boynton Beach FL on 10/25/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

NUVI 3590 arrived on time thanx to Crutchfield , well packaged. Easy to install. I went up the learning curve to use & downloaded the instruction manual. The unit when going past a turn takes too long to realize & notify. Does not have the ole nag, "RECALCULATING" I think the accuracy is also not very tight. This is the 3rd Garmin I have owned & best one yet... It performs well finding various locations & the voice recognition ireall nice. The 5" screen is a plus. HOWEVER, the shiny bezel & glass are something I wish were not there. In some instances it offers faster routes. It is a little powerhouse & great to hear the street names called out. I would like to have a male voice as the lower frequencies are easier on the ear. I am using the suction cup windshield mount as I have in the past. Here is sunny Florida, the heat tends to have the unit drop off the glass.. The unit is pricey but worth it. I have not used the blue tooth fone features just yet

Pros: Best Garmin yet

Cons: see my review...minor flaws

Awesome GPS!!

Ron from Longview, TX on 10/12/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a true 5 star product. The speech recognition is superb, and makes for safe hands free operation. The speed limit indicator is great and keeps you safe and withing the law. The graphics are super, with great detail. Really like how it works with my Android phone, auto answering calls, and hands free communications. And with lifetime maps and traffic, his is a true winner from Garmin.

Pros: Great display. and accurate maps. Voice recognition and control work great. Hands free operation of your Android smartphone.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Best Garmin I've had

GeorgeH from Lafayette, CA on 10/11/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the fourth Garmin (at least) I've owned over the last 10+ years, and the best yet. The portrait or landscape orientation feature is a great addition, as is the Smartphone Link. The link is far more reliable at providing traffic information than the traffic receiver, at least in my part of the world, even if it does have an annual fee. I don't use the speakerphone capability - that's fairly marginal compared to my Jabra Freeway, and I really see no reason for it. Fortunately, you can use the bluetooth link for the Smartphone Link and turn off the phone control (aka hands free). Every now and then a call is of marginal quality, which I attribute to the phone's bluetooth bandwidth being used by the traffic link, but overall the speakerphone and the GPS seem to co-exist well. Overall, a very good

Pros: Smartphone link, dual orientation

Cons: Why bother with a marginal quality speakerphone?

Most Expensive is not always the best...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product was purchased last than a month ago and I am having trouble with the internal antenna. Cannot get and hold the satellite positions, right now the unit is not doing me any good at all. For the price it was not an inexpensive purchase...

Pros: This model is suppose to be Garmin's top of the line Prestige Series GPS, with all the bells, lights and whistles.

Cons: Does not work at finding satellites dues to a faulty antenna system...

This is my very first GPS, I have had it for only a couple of weeks ago and have nothing to compare it with, but I simply love it, it works very well , calculates very fast and is very easy to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good Garmin GPS.

I love it!

yankeedime from Belle Chasse, LA on 8/18/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to wait to complete my review until I had used this Garmin several times. I am happy to say that after a short learning curve, this device is awesome. In the economy car I drive, the Garmin's bluetooth makes it easy for me to make and take calls hands free. It seems to find the locations that I hunt for much easier than my old Garmin 660 (which was state of the art in its time). I have two complaints: 1. When I wanted to embark on a 10 hour drive to my sisters house several states away, I had to force the new Garmin to search for her address IN HER STATE. Why it does not ask for the state when you type in the address is beyond me??? THAT took me a while to figure out! 2. The sound quality is not as good when used for handsfree calling than the older model that I had. :( But all in all, I am happy with the device and it's large screen with various views. Thanks again, Garmin! And thank you, Crutchfield for the best price and free shipping!!

Pros: Large multiview screen, Bluetooth capability.

Cons: Out of state address searches (not so user friendly), sound quality is only fair.

Cons: Wish Traffic audio messgaes receive it on same speaker instad of another cable hook up.voice direction is kind of slow

Garmin Nuvi 3590 LMT

nmiller from Murrieta, CA on 6/29/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A business trip in a rental car through Arkansas and Missouri was the catalyst for buying the 3590 LMT. The larger screen, traffic reporting and focused directions on a realistic background were selling points. My business associates and I navigated without trouble through metropolitan areas as well as remote rural areas even identifying addresses that were not available on other GPS devises. Back in California, the traffic reporting function works well when traveling in metropolitan areas. As I have a factory installed GPS on my vehicle I only use the 3590 LMT when driving in areas of high traffic as my factory installed unit does not have traffic reporting. The only big negative is that 3590 LMT does not perform to the same level on private community roads that it does on public roads. If I put in my own address in a private community the 3590 lmt takes me on a four mile trek despite showing the roads that would correctly get me to my home. At least I know my own way home.

Pros: Does everything it claims to do on public roads.

Cons: On private roads in private communities the 3590 LMT struggles with proper directions. The voice directions for turns and such seem to be a little slow and come at the last seconds before a turn.

easygany from Renton, WA on 6/24/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Another excellent product from Garmin. Lifetime maps and traffic is an outstanding feature, highly recommendable. It's not perfect but the features satisfy essential needs for navigation, easy to use.

Pros: Voice command feature, nice 3D graphics, split screen on exit ramps and a whole lot more.

Cons: very limited choice of American voices, could be better if male voices were included

No Australian lady voices - very limited voices

Reviewer from Houston on 6/18/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was disappointed to see that Garmin chose not to include the same voices that had been with the last several Nuvi machines I have had. I had gotten used to the Australian lady's voice and now there is only one voice with text to speech. It is possible to buy some, in my opinion, silly voices. Nothing really any good. Other than that, the machine works well. The voice command works pretty well. However, sometimes it does not give enough time to give the street address and city and state, which is required. It cuts you off unless you speak very quickly and then gives the wrong answer. However, other than the above two complaints, it seems to work better than previous versions and the maps are updated for free.

Pros: Works pretty good. Is accurate.

Cons: No longer has the voices from the previous Nuvi machines. Sometimes the speech recognition requires very fast speaking of street address, city and state.

This is the second Garmin GPS that I have owned . I'ts GREAT it took me a little while to figure it out how it works, but once I got it figured out , I won't leave home without it. You just sit back and tell it where you want to go, and it doe's the rest. I think that this is the BEST GPS that GARMIN put out yet. Thanks GARMIN. A bit pricey but WELL worth it.

Pros: Very easy to operate. GREAT.

Cons: NONE.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Seems all gps have wrong turns in them. I have only used my new high dollar 3590lmt a few times so far and it gave me one wrong turn already. However it will tell you as soon as within one block of the mistake to get back on the right track. I just love wrong turns in california freeways. But this gps is smarter than I am right now so it will be a long time before I learn to use all the gadgets it has to offer. I do like the louder volume than ,my older gps had, and it has a nice big display that is easy to see and the turn lane feature is really nice. Maybe I could give it a 5 star rating after I use it for 6 months or more. We will see. I would recommend Garmin gps models to my friends, though I think the less expensive models are really just as good. But hey, I have the very best Garmin has to offer. Kind of a status symbel--lol p.s. I downloaded new maps the day I bought it and it only took about 15 minutes to complete it all. I am running an I-3 laptop with about a 35 mbps download speed. If your download speed is a lot slower, then of course it will take longer for the same download. So know your download speed before complaning about it taking so long. And have a wonderful trip. Driver said that.

Pros: Screen is large and easy to read--nice loud volume--looks quality and is quality--it dosent say recalculating all the time, it just makes a little bong sound so you will know it is recalculating--it is very fast--well worth the money no matter what.

Cons: As with all gps units, you might be told to turn right when really you need to turn left, but this is a very rare occurance. But hey, no one is perfect.

Garmin 3590LMT

JGP from Midlothian, VA on 5/25/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the second GPS in the family. My wife has an OEM Pioneer system in her Honda that I paid $2000 for and it's not half the unit that the Garmin is. I bought this for a trip that included some inner city driving in an unfamiliar city and a long distance trip of 1014 miles. Not only did it do what GPS's do very well, but it is a hands free phone and gas station finder to boot. When I had to go to the airport, it needed only voice commands (No punching in addresses) and kept me out of heavy traffic along the way. The 5" screen was nice to my old tired eyes.

Pros: Does everything that a GPS should do well. The LMT option means lifetime free maps upgrades (A snap to install) and the traffic feature that directs you around heavy traffic. The hands free phone works very well. The EcoRoute feature plans your trip with the cheapest gas en route.

Cons: It needs a better speaker, or a way to integrate into the cars audio.

Very Good GPS system

Jon B from Cypress TX on 5/25/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very good GPS system. It is a bit less than fully intuitive to learn, particularly if you are converting from a Tom Tom and this is your first Garmin, such as the case with me. However, once learned, it is vastly easier to use than my previous Tom Tom. It is a very good system. Every once in a while it sends one on what may not be the easiest route, but I have yet to be misdirected on the long trip on which we used the GPS. The speed limit indicator is off about 10% of the time. But other than those two observations, this is a very fine system. I am quite pleased with the purchase.

Pros: Easy to use, good database of landmarks, points of interests, hotels, etc. Great guidance on freeway exits.

Cons: Not extremely intuitive to learn if converting from using a Tom Tom, although superior once learned. Speed limit indicators are off about 10% of the time. Better in cities than in rural areas as far as guidance on turns.

very, very nice. I'm not as smart as it is yet, but I'm gaining. It will do most everything you want it to. what it doesn't do is so minor i think a 5 star rating is still deserving.

Pros: almost totally voice controlled. split screen at critical points very nice. shows you which lane to get in for a turn way in advance.

Cons: a bit larger than the average GPS. My last one had weather info through the gps........this one requires a phone.

Best i've seen!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Far better than the factory system in my wife's Mercedes. So intuitive, and so "smart". Haven't found anything it can't do. Wish there was a way to install it in the dash!

Pros: So simple. So quick. Even works well far from the dash. So smart!

Cons: Nothing bad to say.

Fastest Calculating GPS I've Ever Had!

TomH from Virginia Beach on 5/12/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had six Garmin GPS units, two of which I bought for my two daughters. I also have a 2460LMT which I used up until I purchased the 3590LMT just a couple of weeks ago. Great screen, fast satellite acqusiton, like instant on and ready to go!. Took a while to get used to the different menus and updated searches and saving function for locations and favorites compared to my 2460LMT, but I like it even better now that I've learned what to do. Complete user manual at Garmin can help with questions, as the getting started manual is all you get in the box. The larger 5" screen compared to the 4.3" screen on some units, my 2460LMT is also a 5" screen, is really nice and gives you larger map views and other information. Of course, street names are spoken, and voice alerts are given in plenty of time for exit information or upcoming turns. Great unit if you want to spend the money. It is pricey, but well worth the extra dollars.

Pros: Fast satellite acquisition when unit is first started up, large 5" screen, easy to find addresses and save locations. 3D junction feature leaves no room for error at exits or route changes.

Cons: Pricey, but you know that when you are considering buying the unit. It's worth it to me. Doesn't have the red llight camera feature that my 2460LMT has on it.

Weed from PA on 4/29/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I upgraded from a c550 Street Pilot. What a difference in technology over the past 7 years! We used it on a trip through Columbus, Indianapolis, St. Louis and Kansas City and back through Chicago. It worked great. I don't miss the "recalculating" message. It just recalculates and you never even know. The lane indicators were a huge help in all the metro areas. And the traffic updates worked well. We would get a message that if we took the suggested alternate route we would save 5 minutes. It was nice knowing where the congestion was. A great purchase. The size is a little big for in the pocket in pedestrian mode but is great for the car. Highly visable.

Pros: Junction view, traffic, instant on, speed of calculations.

Cons: None

Very Pleased

Tom L from N Fort Myers, FL on 4/2/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I also have the nuvi 1690. My 3590 has a much better Juntion View. The screen splits in two, well before the next interstate exit, and shows the normal 3D map on the left and the 3D juction view on the right. It helps me to see this view early. I also use the search for Rest Areas and Truck Stops. The "Where To" screen is completely configurable and I have the key searches right on the first page. I miss the 1690's nuLink which provided Google search for POI's. The GPS POI list has had maybe 70 percent of my searches while the Google search on the 1690 hit 100%. I have not tried the Androit SmartPhone link yet. Overall - my 2 weeks of using the 3590 has impressed me. It's very good.

Pros: Split screen junction view Fast response Glass, multi-touch screen (5" and very clear) Much better POI search process

Cons: No nuLink functions Thought the Android interface provides fuel prices, it does not provide an enhanced POI search from the GPS - only from the phone with download to the GPS.

I have had this latest Garmin for two weeks now, and I am very pleased with it. The 5 inch screen is definitely worth it, as is the glass screen. I think there are a few features that I really don't need but I would still purchase this Garmin. If you don't mind paying about a hundred more than you should, go for it. It is worth the extra cost. I am going to try it in Canada next week so I may have more to say after that experience.

Nice GPS

David B from Birmingham, AL on 3/12/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice GPS. I had the old Nuvi 660 for several years, and this one makes the 660 seem like a dinosaur.

Pros: Instant on, Satellite finding speed is incredible, 3D map detail is nice, sharp looking Hi Res screen, search function is awsome, looks more like big smartphone than a GPS (super thin), road speed is changeable, roads are avoidable, can keep track of your driving... I can go on and on.

Cons: Cost, "Smartlink" app is only for Android... I have a Windows Phone... bummer.

Love the 3D details

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 2/23/2012 11:22:00 AM

I admit it. Unless it's a road I travel everyday, I need all the help I can get when it comes to directions. Which is why I really like the 3590LMT. The screen is nice and big, so its easy to read. Plus, the 3D landmark feature really makes a difference. In a major city, I can use them to quickly orient myself (with just a flat map, I sometimes feel like I'm going from one turn to the other with no clue as to where I am).

Having speed limit info and roadsigns are additional pluses. The more information I can get from a glance at the Garmin's screen, the more I can concentrate on driving safely. Very nice!
