Expansive, extensive traffic coverage when you need it most
The GTM 60 HD Digital traffic-information receiver from Garmin takes the guesswork out of where and when delays might develop along your route. With one simple cord that plugs into your vehicle's 12-volt port, you can turn your Garmin nüvi® into a powerful ally against lost time, wasted fuel, and frustration.

How it works
The GTM 60 feeds Garmin Digital 3D Traffic updates to your navigator at a rate that's up to 4 to 10 times faster than traditional traffic services. It can provide details every 30 seconds in some areas, using the HD Radio™ broadcasting system in addition to all the other sources Garmin traditionally uses. You'll see congestion as it develops and be able to route around it, rather than getting stuck at inopportune times.

Free lifetime subscription — no hidden fees
Your free lifetime subscription to Garmin's traffic-information service activates automatically when you first use the GTM 60, without any additional hidden costs. And the HD Digital service broadcasts traffic information on a separate band so you can still listen to your favorite radio stations, including HD Radio broadcasts. If there are no HD Digital traffic broadcasts nearby, the GTM 60 can still receive updates using the FM-TMC signals found in most metropolitan areas.

Get Garmin 3D Digital Traffic and say goodbye to congestion
If you've used a Garmin portable navigator with a traffic-information receiver, you already know what a lifesaver it can be in metropolitan areas when there's congestion. Now just imagine how much better it'll be with updates every 30 seconds that won't leave you in a jam. The GTM 60 works with all Garmin nüvi portable navigators from the 2405, 2505, 3405, and 3505 series. Warranty: 1 year.

Worked well when I used it.

Good replacement antenna

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a good replacement antenna for my Garmin GPS. Reception is quick. Functions just as well if not better than the generic antenna that I managed to misplace.

FM antenna

Chris from California on 5/9/2012

The purpose of this antenna is to get the traffic without the ads. The antenna that comes with the GPS will display ads as you drive. Depending on the year of your gps, the ads have gotten larger and more obnoxious as time has gone on. As for increasing speed etc, the antenna does not do that.

Pros: No ads

Cons: If you have one of the older units, the ads are small and not a distraction. If you have a 2011 or 2012 model, this is worth the money it you drive in traffic a lot.

Crutchfield response on 8/28/2012 We reached out to Garmin concerning the ads, and they stated that as of 4/15/2012 the ads have been eliminated from the traffic supplier and no longer being pushed to any Garmin model.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

bought this receiver thinking it would be better then the receiver that came with the garmin unit, I cant tell any difference. checked to see if it would work in the atlanta , ga area, was told yes, seeing atlanta is the new york traffic in thw south, I wouldnt buy this again if I had to, save your money and use the receiver that came with the unit.

Pros: no pros here,

Cons: dont work any better then the receiver that came with it. its like trying to up grade hd tv, from no hd, and still getting same results.

Overview: The Garmin GTM 60 is an add-on traffic receiver and 12-volt power adapter for your compatible Garmin nüvi GPS portable navigator. The GTM 60 delivers Traffic Message Channel (TMC) information, including road conditions and traffic delays, to your compatible Garmin GPS device. When traffic information is received, your Garmin GPS portable navigator displays traffic delays on the map and uses the information to avoid traffic delays and find the fastest routes. The Garmin GTM 60 traffic receiver provides subscription-free, advertising-free traffic alerts with Digital 3D Traffic, the world's most extensive traffic avoidance system. It offers more coverage in more areas with more timely and accurate traffic condition updates. The GTM 60 uses Garmin's 3D Traffic and Digital Traffic from the HD radio Broadcasting system to provide traffic alerts up to 10x faster than traditional traffic receivers.

Note: The Garmin GTM 60 is an add-on device and requires the connection of a compatible Garmin nüvi GPS portable navigator. The GTM 60 receives signals from the traffic service provider and displays that information on your compatible GPS device.

Compatibility: The Garmin GTM 60 is compatible with the following Garmin nüvi GPS portable navigators (as of 10/8/2014).

100% Subscription Free Traffic: The Garmin GTM 60 with 3D Traffic gives you 100% subscription-free lifetime traffic updates. Unlike other traffic system that may offer a "free trial", after which you are charged a monthly or annual subscription fee. The subscription activates automatically after your connected Garmin GPS device acquires satellite signals while receiving traffic signal from the service provider.

Note: Lifetime traffic extends for the useful life of the Garmin traffic receiver (as long as you own the compatible Garmin GPS device) or as long as Garmin receives traffic data from its traffic supplier, whichever is shorter.

Garmin 3D Traffic: Garmin 3D Traffic is broadcast over HD Radio and is the worlds most extensive traffic service. It combines historical traffic data & current traffic data from active devices in transit, and predictive traffic to indentify impeding traffic backups as well as current non-trend traffic incidents. Digital 3D Traffic, when delivered over the rapid HD Radio Broadcasting System, updates traffic every 30 seconds (that's 4 to 10x faster than competitive services) allowing you to react more quickly to changing traffic conditions and keep you moving.

Note: When HD service is not available in your area, the GTM 60 will provide data through an RDS-TMC channel. In that event, the GTM 60 and GPS device must be in in data range of an FM station transmitting TMC data to receive traffic information.

Traffic Coverage: Garmin 3D Traffic includes premium traffic content for the United States for the lifetime of the product. View Digital 3D Traffic coverage.

Note: Traffic content not available for all areas.

Traffic Data: Garmin 3D Traffic analyzes traffic flow data that has been collected from more than 2 billion probe points every month. These 2 billion probe points included -

  • data from millions of Garmin device owners
  • data from millions of cellular phone owners
  • incident reports
  • radio feeds of live information
  • news stations
  • historic traffic data from NAVTEQ Traffic Supply
  • historic traffic data from Garmin device owners
  • fixed traffic sensors on major roads giving 99.9% accuracy of traffic reports
Note: The GTM 60 may take up to 5 minutes to acquire data.

Traffic Avoidance: When connected to the GTM 60, your Garmin nüvi portable navigator not only informs you about delays on your route, it will also suggest alternate routes and guide you around the trouble spots. It can even automatically route you around trouble spots without you having to do anything, but drive.

12-Volt Power Adapter: In addition to free lifetime traffic alerts, the GTM 60 features a 12-volt power adapter to connect to your vehicle's 12-volt power/cigarette lighter port which will power and charge your compatible Garmin nüvi GPS portable navigator.
