Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Great price and Excellent service.
Item # 15865X900E | MFR # XBR65X900E
Basic, bare-bones 4K TVs are now amazingly cheap. But if you want a picture that will consistently wow you, no matter what source you're using, invest in a premium 4K model like the Sony XBR-65X900E. Thanks to Sony's unsurpassed video processing technology, along with a boost in peak brightness capability, this TV delivers a vibrant, lifelike picture, especially with HDR (High Dynamic Range) content.
What 4K does for picture detail, HDR does for contrast and color. Before HDR, video standards were based on old-school tube TVs with low brightness capabilities. By comparison, HDR-equipped TVs like the XBR-65X900E can display much greater contrast and a wider color spectrum. The combination makes pictures pop like you've never seen before.
The XBR-65X900E's full-array LED backlight produces accurate, localized lighting across the entire screen. By dimming some areas of the screen and boosting others, Sony's X-tended Dynamic Range PRO™ technology produces a brightness range that's about 5 times wider than what we've been used to with conventional LED-backlit TVs. And Sony's Motionflow™ XR 960 with 120Hz refresh rate is still one of the best blur-reduction technologies around.
The XBR-65X900E is a great way to enjoy the HDR picture enhancements available from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players and discs. And it will effortlessly display the streamed 4K/HDR movies and TV series available from Netflix®, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, and more.
A lot of people aren't aware that you don't need 4K content to enjoy a terrific picture on a Sony 4K TV. Based on ten years' experience upscaling movies to 4K in movie theaters around the world, Sony has developed a processor so advanced it can upscale HD content to near-4K quality. This 4K X-Reality™ Pro chip visibly improves detail and color on all your sources.
The XBR-65X900E's built-in Android operating system lets you easily log in to your Google ID to access a huge collection of apps, games and content from Google Play. Use the Google Cast feature (now called Chromecast built-in) to stream movies, pictures, and TV shows from your iOS or Android-based phone, or from a laptop. The remote has a built-in microphone that makes it easy to search for a particular movie or actor just by saying the name.

Average Customer Review(s):
Great price and Excellent service.
Excellent picture. I went from a Sony 40" HD LED to this new 65" and couldn't be happier. The direct light led certainly helps this model's performance vs cheaper models. The interface runs smoothly and I've not had any issues with the menu. I have hdmi running through the ARC and it works seamlessly with my older 4K Sony receiver. The only issue I've had since purchase is that it's forgotton my WiFi setup and password twice over these few months. It's a little annoying but not a big deal. The 4k content is so amazing it really has a beautiful picture. My brother bought the OLED LG for $800 more... not worth it. If you are looking for the best picture in this price range, don't look at anything else. I compared with the Samsung and LG.
Pros: Picture Contrast Numerous inputs
Cons: Minor WiFi issues
beautiful picture. Amazing colors, you don't need to waste your money on an OLED.
This is simply the best of the best. This tv is everything I was looking for & more, to replace an aged 65 inch Sony. Always been a fan of Sony. I did a lot of research on similar TVs from other brands but still Sony came up tops. I bought it when Crutchfield was running the Super Bowl special, the price was a no brainer then. I LOVE IT. Extremely Satisfied.
I did have the 930e version but did not like it. It seemed too bright no matter how I adjusted it. Also it weighed 84 lb hanging on the TV stand and would rock back and forth, sometimes even as you walked across the floor. Love this television! Great picture and great sound. Some people say sound is not good. I think it's fantastic and highly recommend this tv. I also looked at the oleds and they don't seem well, let's just say go look for yourself. Sometimes just because you have a lot of black in the background don't mean it's a good picture. You can add extra black to this television and a few other people I know has OLED televisions and likes mine because of picture and some extra accessories that's on this one
Pros: If you have a old school receiver like I do you can use a pair of RCA jacks I recommend Y two at the end one at the other and you can plug it into the headphone jack of your TV
After a lot of research I decided upon this tv and could not be happier. The picture quality is amazing.
Pros: The picture is amazing
Cons: You may need a soundbar or external speakers
On time and as promised
I've owned this television for about two weeks now, I picked it up during the Superbowl sales because I did a little digging on specifications and spent a lot of time in show rooms and I decided that this one had the best picture to price ratio. Let me just say... Coming from an older Visio 55 inch television to this, it's like night and day. The colors are incredibly crisp and defined, the blacks are rich and dark, and the whites and light colors don't wash out their surroundings at all. I've heard of things like Bloom and bleed before, which my old set suffered from even though I never noticed. I notice it now, having gotten used to this new picture quality. The movement of the camera along the foreground is smooth and beautiful, no stutter during action or flowing landscape scenes. To top that all off, the operating system is flawless and fast, easy to navigate and the television comes with an unbelievable amount of compatibility. I have it networked to my media server and I can stream things over my wifi signal without any issues. All in all, this product impressed me in the store, but it impressed me more in my living room. It comes highly recommended from a happy customer.
Pros: Excellent picture quality Incredible motion rate Great operating system Phone can be the remote Built in Google cast Elegant design and beautiful even when it's off.
Cons: I can't think of anything just yet.
Outstanding picture. Dark blacks. Bright colors. Glad I made the purchase. Significant upgrade over my Vizio.
Pros: Dark blacks
Cons: Interface has a world of options. A little overwhelming at first.
I spent two weeks studying which television would best meet our needs. I picked this one because of it's price point, but also because of the unique combination of full array backlighting and a very high quality picture processing. I decided against OLED because of the possiblity of screen burn in. My wife watches a lot of programming that has fixed graphics boxes like QVC and didnt want to run the risk.
Pros: Excellent picture. Full array backlighting.
Picture is outstanding. Crutchfield support was very helpful in setting up ARC.
Great tv with easy setup and wonderful picture. Sound bar helps with the audio but still not too bad.
Pros: picture and quality
Cons: audio could be a bit better
Picture quality really is pretty excellent, but it does a weird sound warble when switching video sources. Also doesn't seem to be as many customization options as my old a Samsung. Had an issue on day one with power cord breaking - DEFINITE headache. Five stars to Crutchfield for getting me a new cord as going through Sony was a joke. Twice they said that part was so far back ordered that they just "cancelled my request" for a new one... I really didn't want to take this thing off the wall again, but their solution was to just return the whole tv for that little cord.
Pros: Picture quality for money
Cons: Support hardware, Sony cust Service
Fantastic picture - awesome led tv?
Pros: Picture, picture, picture, and ... oh, yeah - picture.
Cons: None so far
Upgraded from 45 inch Sony HD to 65 inch Sony 4K. My 45 inch is over 8 years old and still in perfect condition so I relocated to the bedroom. Added sound bar to my order to create a home movie theatre. Thank you Crutchfield. Number one in customer service and delivery.
Pros: Sony reliability and quality. Crutchfield has great product selection, friendly employees, and fast delivery.
Cons: Popcorn not included. Ha ha!
It's a TV with a great picture. It does lose some when you go off axis but all leds do. Oiled are different but to rich for my blood at this time.Easy to link to my Comcast remote. I'm not a movie or gamer. The sports picture is clear and gorgeous. Just replaced a 4 year old 55 in 7000 series Samsung and can't believe the clarity differences. I used to be a Sony man years ago and then Switched to Samsung but now I'm back to Sony!
Pros: Picture ..Picture....Picture...
Cons: Non so far
Outstanding picture! Really great tech support
Pros: Picture, apps, tech support
Cons: getting to settings field not immediately accesable
Great picture, easy setup. Replaced a lower end Samsung, big improvement!
Pros: Great picture, easy setup.
Cons: As with all flat screens sound is on the thin side. Added Definitive Technology surround sound with Yamaha receiver and am very pleased.
I am very happy with this TV, it's amazing, excellent picture with a lot of apps and tuning features, all I can say this is a great TV that brings you a great joy.
Pros: wonderful picture, excellent design.
Cons: TV speaker sounds a little bit weak, anyway, using a sound bar or home theater system can resolve this issue.
I've never experienced such a wonderful picture straight out of the box. All adjectives aside it truly had that "WOW" factor immediately. And after some minor tweaking, then watching a standard Blu-ray movie I was even more impressed with the picture. With it's onscreen display and built in Setup Assistant this TV is very easy to get up and running in no time. But again, it's the picture displayed on this TV that's just almost off the chart. For the price point of this TV and what it offers it's just one of those "no brainers". And when it goes on sale it becomes even more so. VERY satisfied with this TV and highly recommended if you're in the market to upgrade.
Pros: Picture Quality, Easy Setup, Plenty of HDMI and USB Ports
Cons: None Yet
Excellent TV at a good price with quick shipping. I have bought and sold AV for many years and Crutchfield has always been a respected seller.
Very happy with the quality of the TV!
The colors right out of the box are amazing, I had a 46 XBR before and I was going to go to the 55 inch, I am glad I went with the 65 as space is a concern, but how many TV's do you buy right? I never used the speakers in the tv and I would hope that someday they would just stop putting them in the tv! my take is if you don't have this connected to at the very least a sound bar you are missing out on the experience of this beautiful dynamic tv experience. Why take it down a notch with crappy sound from the tv. I have mine running thru a Sony receiver, no I am not a Sony snob, but one thing I will say it that it all just works. I have a Sony BD player and a receiver so instead of 3 remotes and coding each one this Sony recognizes all of them into a nice 1 remote no fuss dealings. the blacks are deep and true. it has a "football" option which would be called bright on some others. If you have an android phone you will love this as it is seamless. I was not ready to pay for OLED, but this will do nicely.
Pros: vibrant colors and easy to install.
Very happy with this 4K TV with HDR. Immediately purchased an Apple TV 4K because I found the Android OS just okay. 4K content via iTunes, Netflix, and Prime Video are amazing. Definitely happy with my purchase.
After using one of the last Panasonic plasma models for 7 years, it was finally time to make a change. My criteria was a 65" 4k HDR TV with deep blacks and back-lighting. Heavy research of other options seemed to bring me back to the Sony XBR-65X900E. For the money, it's absolutely the best option available. I was skeptical that I would notice that much of a difference, but it's exceeded all expectations. The only issue I've had is the Android TV UI. It can be painfully slow at times. Even with the small flaw, I highly recommended it!
It has the best picture I have ever seen. The reds, greens, blues all the colors look good. Watch a football game it's Awesome. Finally got to put a 4K movie in the Sony 4k player. It looks like you can touch the people. I am really happy with this TV.
Stunning picture quality and better sound than I was expecting from this Sony Bravia 65" beauty. This TV creates a real visual experience for your home theater. Getting the set "up and running" was a breeze but you do need two people for set up. My wife and I shopped for several months and we kept going back to the Sony for the great picture for the price point. This set was recommended by the Crutchfield tech rep as well as the manager of a local big box store. Ordering and delivery was excellent - why worry about how to get this size of TV home when it is this easy to have it shipped! I have to point out that the packaging was amazing and quite innovative. Only negative so far is that you can't play Amazon Prime Music through the TV but works with Spotify. You deserve it.
Pros: Stunning picture, sound better than expected, innovative packaging.
Cons: Does not play Amazon Prime Music Unlimited.
I am generally happy with this Sony TV. The picture is good, the menu system is pretty well designed, and the control is intuitive. After I plugged in an Apple TV and a Playstation 4, the remote control starts to work with both of them. It just works, I didn't even have to set it up. The HDR option is buried in Android TV settings. You will have to turn it on manually. The Android TV system is also pretty good. I owned a Samsung 1080P TV before this. The user experience is superior with the Sony.
Pros: Great picture, good control, intuitive interface
Cons: Some options, such as HDR, must be turned on by digging into the settings
The box arrived in perfect condition. Setup is easy and intuitive but it takes two people. After putting it together I turned it on to factory settings and was pleased with no adjustments being need (to my eye; if it ain't broke don't fix it,). Very clear picture with no distortions to the edges of the screen. Colors are bright, especially after sundown. Only nit is viewing angle needs to be more or less at 90 degrees +/- 10 degrees or picture begins to fade. It's a modern large screen.
Pros: Easy and quick setup 1-2-3; No need to read manual Good default picture Remote easily syncs to xFinity's all-in-one
Cons: Picture fades slightly after 10 degrees off direct view (90)
Major upgrade in everyway from the 47 led LG to the 65 Sony 4k. Sony is the only way to go.
Was thinking about an OLED but after doing research and deciding to up in size to a 65 inch this was what I chose. Many picture settings to play with, maybe too many. But after experimenting I found the perfect settings for my room. Great price and great service.
Pros: Great picture and I like the android experience.
Cons: Only that in about 6 months it will probably cost less.
Installed two weeks ago and I love it. Coming from a 55 inch projection, this thing is amazing. The picture quality is great. I see so much more detail on everything. I do not have 4k television service, HD Only, but WOW, HD signals from cable are outstatnding. All my DVDs look so much clearer, even my unenhanced unremastered theatrical versions of star wars (formatted for widescreen viewing in letterbox format) look amazing. I have a Sony BRD player and the remotes all work together. The TV even knows when I put in a Disc and automatically switches input for me and back to cable box when I am done, Nice Touch! The only "problem" with this set is the lack of analog audio options. My 5.1 surround sound receiver is too old and does not support HDMI and I am using the Headphones jack on the TV so I can get variable audio output to the receiver. Time to upgrade the audio. I have not yet fully explored the ins and outs of digital audio via HDMI and how to get the best sound from my audio equipment. Still have a little work to do. The built in sound is just OK I would definitely recommend a sound bar or sound system to make the audio match the video quality. Super light and super thin. If it wasn't so big, I could have set it up all by myself. I have not yet connected it to the internet. I think I am the last man on the planet who does not get Netflix. I have not yet tinkered with USB options either. I cannot be happier with this purchase so far.
Pros: Size, Brightness, Picture Quality
Cons: Built in Speakers Could Be Better. No RCA Audio Output.
great picture, easy setup,
Nice picture have yet try try the HDR. Only complaints are remote is not back lighted & ARC on supports pcm linear 2.0. Borrowed an Apple tv & used HDMI on RZ - 810 which after redoing settings a few time got to output 5 channel pcm. Not sure if Sony can upgrade arc audio out via firmware otherwise arc is of very limited use when using a surround rcvr.. Going to use an Roku ultra plugged into rcvr and not bother with the tv apps.
Cons: ARC limited to pcm 2.0.
Outstanding TV , brilliant picture and super easy to set up. Even the box it comes in is well engineered and easy to use. We did a lot of comparing with a few other tv's this size and kept coming back to this one. Well worth the short wait to get it. Performs even better than expected
Pros: Great Picture Easy set up Smart packaging Good sound quality from just the TV
Cons: Should have bought this TV 5 years ago.
Great TV! Easy to set up and the picture required very little tweaking. Crutchfield had a great price , fast delivery and was pleasant to deal with. There are some shady Internet companies out there but Crutchfield has a long track record of quality products and service. Thanks!
We received our new big screen by special delivery truck undamaged. Unboxing was painless and well designed. All mounting hardware was included and our previous wall mount attached perfectly. The setup was simple and we were quickly logged on to WiFi. The picture out of box is stunning and adjustments to color and brightness are not necessary unless you like to tweak them. We are very impressed with our new TV and have always put Sony well above the others for picture quality and longevity. If you choose this model, you will definitely be impressed and satisfied.
Very fast ordering and shipping by Crutchfield. Came in two days earlier . TV is amazing and very easy to setup. Highly recommend this TV.
The Sony XBR900E is the best 65" TV for the price. It has a very clear and very bright picture due to its full-array LED backlight and the excellent Sony processing hardware. In addition, the build quality of the TV is also very good - it has slim bezels that look sleek and feel solid. The built-in Android TV operating system also works pretty well - it offers all of the streaming apps that one would want! The 900E is very similar to the 850E but the 900E is noticeably brighter - so consider that when deciding to purchase!
Pros: Picture Quality, Brightness, Aesthetic Design
This is a great TV out of the box. It replaced a 5yr Samsung LED and it's a huge improvement. It really shines with HDR content. I haven't even run thru the full calibration process yet, so i only expect it to get better. I would highly recommend it.
The best 65 inch 4K TV for the money!
Pros: Beautiful construction Excellent picture quality at FHD and 4K The sync feature is nice
Cons: None at this price point!
This is an amazing TV. I am completely blown away from the picture quality and the beautiful black this provides. I looked at OLED as well and I am so happy I saved the money and went with this unit instead. I could not be any happier
Pros: Beautiful unit and a beautiful picture.
Amazing picture with spectacular features.
Excellent TV Pretty easy to hook up Interface works ok once you figure it out Picture is great Audio just so so
Pros: Picture, design, set up
Cons: Interface takes some getting used to and can be complicated. Audio could be better
Great TV, Fantastic picture, Easy to set up once I learned how all the settings worked and what they did. Good company to work with, can answer all your questions.
Pros: Great picture, not to bad viewing angle, bluetooth and google cast built in, full array back lighting.
Cons: Wish it supported Dolby vision along with HDR10 like some other manufactures.
Perfect tv for cutting cord and going with PlayStation Vue. Integrated remote, fast and great picture.
Very happy with the Crutchfield team in helping me discuss the options for purchasing this product. Very happy with Picture and the addition of the XBOX ONE 4K device to route my Direct TV through makes the quality of the picture that much better. Was going to go with the 55 inch OLED from LG but for the same amount of money got the 65 inch Sony Bravia that is impressive. Also the 24 month no interest was hard to pass up!
Pros: Great picture, set up was easy, went to WEB and used recommended picture settings
Cons: Unless yo0u have a 4K receiver need to purchase a optical cable and run audio out from TV to receiver to truly enjoy 4K video.
Everything you could want in a midrange* TV. Bright HDR, full array LED backlight with local dimming, great blacks, and a great 4k image. It is listed as a midrange TV but it has the performance of a top-tier display. The built-in Android TV isn't the fastest TV interface but it has everything you need. This TV has excellent build quality with the metal frame and thin bezels.
Pros: Bright HDR, great upscaling, full array local dimming backlight
Cons: Android TV can be slow at times.
I am very happy with this television so far. Still learning about all its features and yesterday, realized it had a "live football mode". The only problem is that everytime I turn the TV on, it requests an update. Since several previous reviewers had problems after the update, I have skipped it so far. Otherwise, I love it.
Cons: Update request
Absolutely the best TV I've ever owned.
Only had it for a short time, but absolutely love it. Beautiful picture. Watched one 4K movie so far and wow.
Customer service and delivery were excellent. The crutchfield team was amazing. The tv was everything plus more. The hdr really adds another element to tv watch and especially video gaming.
Pros: Hdr 4k easy to set up fast software update no motion blur
I had a very old plasma tv that still worked pretty well. I decided it was time to upgrade and researched this and the LG oleds. I decided for the money I would go with the Sony. I'm glad I did picture is amazing and being able to get a larger screen due the cost makes me feel like I have my own theatre.
Pros: Can't be beat for the value
Upgraded from older sony bravia and wow! This picture is incredible!
Great design - the TV looks fantastic in person from the no-bezel design to the stand to the cable management. Excellent picture quality, just remember to run through all the settings to get it calibrated correctly. There's a little bit of a learning curve with the remote since it wants to control all your other equipment (especially if you have other Sony compenents). Overall I'm very satisfied.
It is a good TV. Blacks are not as dark as OLED, but with any light in the room, the difference is not obvious. Quite good at up-scaling. At the moment I don't have a 4k content source and it looks sharper and has better contrast than my 1080 projector with BluRay. I do really like that it runs on google, so you can load any google apps. I plugged in a wireless PC keyboard as I would rather type than use voice search. My one issue is Sony locks down the google homescreen interface and prevents removal of icons/tiles for unwanted links or apps. You can freeze several of the Sony setup apps to help, but Sony could make the interface so much better if they just allowed the end user the ability to configure the home screen, such as you can on an Android phone.
Pros: Picture quality
Cons: Interface personalization
I researched several TVs before deciding on a Sony...the LG OLED was amazing but too expensive. I found that this model was very similar to the OLED and at the Black Friday price for a 65" I snatched it up. My wife was skeptical as she just complains about the price...but when I got it on the wall and WOW, that picture is gorgeous! I was watching The Long Road Home last night and the blacks were stellar, the mids were good and the TV had no problem keeping up with the speed of the action. So immersive....especially when you turn off the lights. I've used a Sanus Classic MLF13 mount and connected it to a HEOS soundbar which sounds amazing. Thanks to Crutchfield for price matching and free shipping is a HUGE plus. Rock on.
Pros: Picture quality, ease of set, connectivity.
Cons: Sound but get a soundbar or connect to AV receiver.
Replaced an aged 57" Sony rear projection TV with this beauty. The picture quality is amazing! The sound from the TV speakers is better than I thought it would be. The stainless steel covering on the TV stand shows fingerprints amazingly well which is annoying. Mounted the TV on a stand and the screen doesn't appear vertical but rather tilts back a little. I am still investigating whether this is a function of the TV itself, the TV stand, or a little of both. Overall a wonderful TV for the price and a big improvement over my 16 yr old TV!
Pros: Great picture! Decent sound quality. Easy setup.
Cons: Stainless steel cover on tv stand shows fingerprints amazingly well.
The picture quality on the TV is amazing. I looked up some of the 4k HDR content on YouTube and was blown away. Overall, I'm very happy with the TV. Unfortunately, Sony pre-loads a bunch of extra apps that can't be uninstalled or removed from the home screen, so it seems you just have to ignore them. One particularly annoying app is Samba. The description paints it as something that tracks what you watch to deliver targeted ads and information. Declining the user agreement doesn't disable the app completely, and attempting to disable the service results in error popups whenever the TV is power cycled. The user then has to go to the app and enable then disable it to get the error messages to go away. I'm curious if anyone has tried to root their TV in order to remove the bloatware, and whether or not it improves the responsiveness of the TV's OS.
Pros: Amazing picture!
We were blown away by the service, fast delivery and the outstanding product. The price was great with the markdown and the 3 day delivery was unexpected, what with the black Friday rush. The packaging was very protective and we were able to unpack the TV and following the detain instructions, install it by ourselves, with no problems. Out of the box, the TV is spectacular with the factory settings. We were watching Netflix within an hour of the TV delivery. Crutchfield has come through again for us with advise about the product and follow through with a great Sony product. We have moved up to the state of the art equipment and technology with a minimum amount of hassle. Thank you
Pros: Smart TV, latest technology, 4K capable
Amazing tv, worth the money and free shipping
The picture on this TV is fantastic. I went back and forth between this and the LG OLED. Glad I went in this direction and the price was better. Very easy to set up and very easy to navigate. I am hooked up to FiOS, thru a Denon receiver, to Infinity Primus speakers. All look and sound great. The only drawback that I have is that I have the HDMI connected to the ARC HDMI to control all my components. The TV gets confused now and then when turning on and will power up and down several times for no apparent reason. I think it is a problem of the TV and receiver talking to each other via HDMI.
Pros: Great picture. Easy set up.
Cons: Component confusion when dealing with ARC HDMI.
Love this TV! The picture is awesome. I sit 10 feet away from the screen, and feel like I'm in a theatre. Definitely worth the price.
Pros: Thin, lightweight, great colors
I purchased this TV to replace a Samsung 55Ku63300 tv as I wanted a 65 inch tv and the full HDR-10 to work with my 4K Bluray Player. This TV once you take the time to tweak the settings has an absolutely fantastic picture and pretty good sound. Netflix HD movies are so clear and colorful that they look almost 4K HDR. I was amazed at how great older movies looked with this TV like Patton or Christmas with the Kranks. Put on Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 and that is a true demo 4K disc for sound and video quality. The colors explode off the screen and the picture is so clear it looks 3D. I had a Plasma 3D tv and this picture blows it away and it is not 3D. The HDR-10 does more for the picture than the 4K in my opinion. One negative is that on my tv I can not get 5.1 to output via ARC or Optical Cable on Netflix or any of the other Apps. I merely get Stereo with no 5.1 option. Netflix said it was a TV problem and Sony did a remote hookup but could not figure it out. They recommend I do a major reset but to do that I need to write down my settings. I do not want to spend another six weeks tuning in the TV. I do get 5.1 out the ARC with my Cable as I have the Cable connected to the TV and not to my receiver.
Pros: Great picture when set up properly. There is no 4K set up disc like the Spears And Munsil Disc available for HD. So you can use it as a start for the inputs and HD but you merely have to tweak the 4K setting input when you have a 4K movie from a 4K Bluray or Streaming like Netflix.
Cons: At first I found this TV to look worse than my cheaper 55 inch Samsung TV. However after tweaking and working on the settings the picture far surpasses my wildest expectation. The big negative and it may just be my tv is no 5.1 on any of the Apps of the TV. I do get 5.1 on the ARC from the Cable box. So to watch Netflix with 5.1 until I or Sony fix this, I use Netflix from my PS4 Pro. If I had Hulu or other online streaming I am sure it would be the same situation.
Awesome! It is just so simple to say but it has exceeded my expectations.
Pros: Vivid picture and colors. Easy to set up and operate.
Replaced 46 inch Sony Bravia that served about 9 years and replaced with another Bravia 65 inch. Great Experience
Pros: Wonderful Picture Quality
Cons: Wish price is little low given OLED base models are also coming close to this price
It was the final addition to the man cave. Unfortunately, the wife and kids have now taken advantage of the TV and my man cave has been invaded and they are enjoying the parties and the big screen. Its now back to fighting over the new TV. I love the TV, though, I won't watch the NFL anymore, I have rediscovered college football and this TV has made the games even more fun to watch. Not to mention, it has added a whole new dimension to watching old movie classics from the 30's & 40's . Great TV. Crutchfield is great too. The service is unmatched by any company I have ever dealt with.
Pros: Picture amazes
Cons: Interface is tricky
I received my Sony xbr-65x900e only a few days after ordering it. Very quick delivery from Crutchfield and no problems with packaging. Carefully unpacked and everything looked great. I took the time to read reviews before making my purchase, and all I can say is WOW am I glad I purchased this TV. I purchased the Sony ubp-x800 4k player a couple of days later, and I have the same opinion of that as well....quick delivery and no issues. First off what a picture with this TV!!!! Picture pops right out at you. Gorgeous colors and I notice a 3D like image on hi def channels. I am using an oppo blu ray player, the new sony 4k, and an older dvd player, with hi power receiver and surround. Everything looks better than it did on the 4 year old Hi Def set I previously had. Plenty of connections available. I couldn't be more happier. Do yourself a favor and explore the remote control options/adjustments. Read manual and online and understand what this TV set can do. As long as father time cooperates, I don't see that I will need an upgrade for quite a while. Seriously! For the price this cannot be beat!
Pros: Great picture, plenty of hookup options. Nice looks.
Cons: None so far
Pros: easy to install
Best picture I've seen red blue and green really stand out
Ordered this product on line through Crutchfield. I was kept informed of the delivery process in every step during transit. As stated by Crutchfield, the TV arrived in two days. When I had questions regarding the TV, Crutchfield was very responsive and accurate in their responses. I can't say enough good things about team Crutchfield. They were in a word above excellent. I originally looked at the TV at a big box store. I found the attitude of their personnel less than adequate, so I decided on Crutchfield and as it turned out I could not be more pleased. As for the TV, it is awesome! I am still working through the various features and settings, but the factory settings yield a great view, with vibrant colors in 4K as well as upscaling HD. The only downside with the product is the documentation. It does take a while to find the information that you are seeking. I found the telephone support from SONY to be of great assistance.
Pros: Easy unpacking Great picture in 4K Great picture in upscaling HD Sturdy base Thin Bezel Light weight for a 65" class TV SONY setup process
Cons: Lack of documentation with TV. I was expecting to have a DVD with manuals, but the documentation with the TV was not helpful, except for the physical setup. Downloaded additional documentation, but found it not to be well organized. I would not let this deter you from buying the unit since the SONY support techs were very helpful and were willing to send you any specific documentation that you needed.
Still trying to figure out how to use the tv, but it's such a beautiful thing. A bit pricey due to model purchased, but well worth it. Offer of free wall mount by crutchfield was great. Installed by a very professional company that works my area. Highly recommended if can afford.
Pros: Wi-Fi works well, 4K, slim for its size.
Cons: None, only con is me not knowing how to use the tv.
Great tv easy to use very intuitive menu and for the price it's a steal.
Embarrassing but my previous TV is a 50" 2007 Panasonic plasma. I have a really great sound system but had put off upgrading the TV for FAR too long. After reading lots of reviews I found the X900e had just what I wanted: 4K, full-array, local dimming and HDR. I have a HTPC (home theater PC) and could care less about the Apps, casting or gaming features. A monstrous leap in performance over my ancient plasma which was 720p with poor blacks. TIP: I didn't like the recommended settings online. I found the "Cinema Home' preset with the Color Live setting turned off was amazing. I also use a Radeon GX-650 over HDMI to the TV.
Pros: - deep, perfect blacks - bright vibrant color - see-thru 4K
Cons: The Settings menu is separate from the Action/Preferences menu and is difficult to get to.
Great picture, HDR content looks amazing. Excellent motion handling.
Great TV so far! Excellent picture, especially when viewing 4K content. Only wish sporting event content broadcasts in 4K. Soon enough!
Pros: Picture Quality Android TV ease of use Easy setup
Cons: Limited Apps for Android TV, it seems.
Picture is super sharp and works perfectly with my Sonos Playbar for sound. The remote (using voice control) is super accurate too. Lots of apps, but most importantly the core functionality as a tv is perfect. And it's a lot cheaper than OLED!
Pros: Picture and apps work perfectly.
Cons: The power brick used for the 65" version is a little strange because I wasn't aware that it was necessary, but I'm sure there's a good reason and it's easy to hide.
Great tv, nice deep blacks and amazing colors. Smart functionality is handle and pretty responsive. The upscaling improves anything less than 4K. I've only streamed 4K, anxious to get a 4K blu ray player to really try it out.
Easy Set up on the powered side. Less so if you want to wall mount it. Standard screws in the mount I chose did not fit and required an extra trip to Lowes, the screws that come in the back of the tv are chintzy. Over all very happy with the picture and sound, although we did add a Polk audio soundbar.
Pros: Easy log in, great picture
Great picture and sound I run with external speaker.and I like that I can call any time for technical support.price was fine.
Very happy with the performance. Vivid video and contrast.
Pros: Great sofar
Really fantastic tv, picture quality is excellent, blacks are deep and don't bleed noticibally. And the Sony processor is great. I knock a star off because the software the tv runs: android of some sort, takes a full minute or two to get internet access after powering the tv on, which is important for using the smart tv features. So it'll boot up to Hulu or Netflix, and then the app will crash or whine about no internet for a while before the network card comes online. Pretty annoying. But as far as picture quality and such, top notch, 5 stars.
Pros: Black levels, color balance, lack of light bleed.
Cons: Smart app software slow, takes forever to establish internet connection.
I've had this TV for around 2 weeks now and I must say that I am very impressed. With very minimal tweaking I was able to get blacks and highlights that I did not think we're possible outside of getting an OLED TV. I really like the Android OS and how it integrates with my phone and tablets. Setting up my TV was a breeze! All I had to do is log into my Google account with my fingerprint from my phone! The only downside to the TV is the remote has an astounding number of buttons and it's hard to navigate in the dark since it's not back lit. Pretty minor if you ask me.
Pros: Picture quality Android OS Incredible selection of Apps Google Cast
Fantastic picture quality. Detail, color and motion on 4K material unsurpassed for an LCD TV. Blacks rival OLED. In fact, you have to get off axis to see any backlight even on a screen where white credits are running on a pure black background. Broadcast TV upscaling is good but obviously not 4K quality. The only reason for 4 stars versus a perfect 5 is the Google/Android OS is very slow to respond. I often hit the remote twice before menus appear. Sony should partner with LG for a better OS. Then this TV would be near perfect.
Pros: Picture, color, motion.
Cons: Operating System
Super fast shipping!! Great Sony TV. Excellent support base. Great Price..........what else do you need??
Excellent picture from this TV. I have yet to notice any artifacts or issues related to upscaling of non-4K inputs. Rich, colors, bright highlights, and impressive contrast abound. A good value on the price/quality equation.
Pros: Good value
Cons: External power supply is somewhat inconvenient to deal with.
We are a Sony & Samsung family, we like both brands and have been fortunate to have luck with all over the years. This new Sony is fantastic and just so wonderful for the game room, PlayStation & Xbox games are great on this TV. Movies and TV shows can't be beat. 4K wow for the limited options but when you can get 4k movie or show, wow, anything we have watched on it looks fantastic. Natural colors, ok sound for TV speakers, but we already had a sony sound bar so even better and we love using the android app on our phones to control TV as well. We have been with Crutchfield for about 10yrs now and always like the service and even with a damaged box on this one, lucky no issues but know that Crutchfield would be there to replace if needed. UPS made note of it and we photographed and sent to Crutchfield immediately. As stated above they wrote and waited for us to unpack and set up and all was great. Recommend this one for sure. Like with anything, if you can go to a local store and see the major brands side by side it will help in making your decisions.
Pros: Easy set up out of the box Natural colors, but this is an area where colors and brightness are a very personal preference. Very adjustable as desired. 4 HDMI ports which is good many new TVs only have three. Sleek and lean just nice to look at. Sound ok for the TV speakers but always good to add a sound system. Remote comfortable to hold and easy to get to batteries as well.
Video is awesome once you get the settings right. Wi-fi is excellent for 1080; should have CAT 6 for viewing 4k from an app. Some people have complained about the audio. However, if you go to the equalizer setting, you can get more bass out of it - sounds really good for on-board speakers. Has plenty of apps. For some reason, this TV works better with my external antenna than it did with my previous Sony TV. All that being said - this TV is worth the money.
Cons: The only con is that I didn't get one sooner!
Great TV, great picture, and a good price
Stunning picture, a very good tv for the money! With two years same as cash from Sony, coudn't pass it up!
Pros: Great picture, better than my Samsung plasma
Cons: None so far
Great picture, especially with 4K content. Easy to set-up and adjust to picture to my liking. The sound is OK but I will probably add a sound bar. My wife is even watching more TV.
Pros: Great picture My wife is watching more TV
Cons: My wife is watching more TV
This tv projects a beautiful image. Regular 1080p is a lot better than I was expecting; everything it displays is better than I thought it would be. Some people gripe about the remote, I like it. It's very easy to use and makes using everything I have plugged in to the tv easy to use. Plenty of settings. The tv does a wonderful job of detecting was kind of signal it's getting and automatically changes to your settings. Very pretty and crisp picture with 4k hdr content. I have only one problem but it doesn't pertain to the tv: hdr content that is worth watching is hard to find. The viewing angle does make a difference on the tv but picture quality doesn't fade as much as you might think. The tv is much nicer than I thought it would be and it continues to impress
Pros: Vivid crisp colors Content availability 4k hdr Brightness Blacks
Cons: Viewing angle
I purchased this TV back on 3/22/17 and have had nothing but problems with this particular model. When it first arrived, the television was plagued with power start up issues. It was really annoying to press the power button multiple times just to get the TV to turn on. After 2 weeks of hoping that the problem would go away, Crutchfield allowed me to exhange the TV for a new one. The new TV performed flawlessly until I performed a firmware update on 7/22/17. The TV never recovered from the update and gave me the 4 blinking red lights of death. After, spending 2 hours with Sony's customer service (which is horrible btw), they forced us to have this TV repaired instead of just exchanging it. Seriously who knows what else is wrong with this TV especially if it could not even handle a firmware update. After receiving 2 TVs in a span of 3 - 4 months and both of them being defective really makes you wonder about Sony's quality control. Also, it was Sony's own update that bricked my TV in the first place. Do they not test these things. I had a Samsung PN58C8000 Plasma TV for 10 years prior to this TV and that one never gave me any issues. Now I have to wonder, even after I get this piece of garbage fixed will another update won't crash it again. My wife warned me that Sony was overrated and overpriced and now I'm regretting purchasing this TV in the first place. Should have just stayed with Samsung.
Sharp clear picture. sound is good. Can only compare to my old Sony and it is 1000% better.
I ordered my Sony XBR-65X900E on July 1, and received it that following Friday, July 7th in west coast. My 1st 4k TV, was super excited. Awesome set, to get a clearer image I changed setting to Fit screen, not zoom. The only bummer was the TV shut down/off on Sunday inexplicably. (damaged perhaps due to long distance delivery) I called tech support on Monday and they sent out a replacement set immediately, which I appreciated. I got it this past Friday, 14th. So far, no issues with replacement. (If the 1st set had no problems I would have given at least 4 stars)
Pros: great screen and color nice upscaling
Cons: sound level and quality
We love most everything about it. HD shows are vibrant. 4K shows are just awesome. I chose this over LG and Samsung and glad that I did.
Pros: Great quality and design.
Cons: As most reviews pointed out, sound is bit of a problem. A good home theatre system would be a good add on. I plan to tie it to my existing audio system.
Amazing TV with perfect blacks. Had one defective unit with dimming in the corners, but replacement is perfect.
Pros: Amazing Blacks and Colors, thin bezel, Android OS is significantly better than other TV OS options
Cons: Due to large dimming sectors, some grey is seen around images on an otherwise perfect black screen. This is no significant though
We love this TV but it does have its downfalls. It has an amazing picture with an easy to use remote. However, the TV had trouble connecting to our internet until we used the 2.4Ghz one instead of 5Ghz). Also, the speakers on this TV leave a lot to be desired. With that being said though, we would definitely order this TV over the other equivalent ones again. I have owned numerous Samsung TV's prior to this, and I am very impressed with this Sony TV.
Pros: - Picture - Easy to use remote - Deep and rich colors
Cons: - Had trouble connecting to internet at first - Speakers are horrible - Android TV is somewhat hard to get used to
Great tv. Upgraded from older Sanyo flat panel tv so this was a big difference. Very nice contrast and brightness.
Pros: Easy setup. Settings were nice right out of the box. Very slim and light weight.
Cons: Speakers are not great. I use AV receiver so doesn't matter to me.
Have had the TV for a couple weeks. Unboxing was easy. The set up was easy. Watching first streaming TV from Prime - no problem. Purchased the Sony HT-ST9 to accompany and the link up was simple. The sound SYNC was also easy to arrange. I compared many on paper (screen) and our local electronic stores, but the Sony TVs just always look better. They are also more expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Time will tell if the Sony name lives up to what I have experienced for decades (this will be my 3rd in a row over last 15 years).
Pros: picture, design
Cons: none yet
Great TV. Very Bright!
I did hours of research, landed on this TV as my 4k upgrade choice, the online reviews is what really sold me. The first set I received had a loose panel at the edges, which I discovered when rubbing the screen with a microcloth to remove some fingerprints due to the wall mounting process. Additionally the screen, when turned off, looked warped from any side angle, like a fun house mirror. This gives the TV a very "cheap" look, even when mounted nicely on a wall. It also decided to power down in the middle of use, on a few occasions. It was a real hassle to remove the TV from the mount for the return. My replacement set was worse. There is horrific light emmitting across the lower corner of the screen, noticeable in that corner of the screen during any dark scenes. Many of you will know this as "flashlighting" which is a common issue that's plagued many LED TV's -- but the more expensive, newer models today are expected to avoid this. The first set I received, while it was glitchy and flawed in construction, did not have this issue. The replacement TV was mounted, so now I have to take this one down and return it, again. Two in a row, defective. After seeing countless rave reviews, I thought it would be good for people to hear my story. One minor note, the remote and the menu interface are terribly designed. I am now starting my search over again, looking for a new model from a different brand. Never again will I purchase another Sony TV.
I am thoroughly enjoying my new SONY! Watching sports on it is crazy to be able to see the level of details and color. I made the purchase to replace an 8 year old SONY XBR and am so happy with the new XBR. It was money well spent! The price point is spot on for the technology and SONY has not priced this model out of reach for a 65 inch 4K.
Much improved Picture - and the Directv 4k Channel is Stunning! -Super thin and it weight is 50% less than the Sony (2008) 130 lbs model I replaced it with.
Pros: All Screen - Looks like a Picture window hanging on the wall - 1080i improved sharpness and the 4k will stun you.
Cons: TV (internal) speakers are not much- However I use it with an AVR so no issue with me. Should you get this model - Get a Additional sound bar or 4k Compliant AVR and your good to go.
Works as advertized. No issues for us. I looked at all the various 46" Sony options and decided this was the best option. We have a built-in bookcase and wanted something to be on the stand not flat on the wall, so the extra thin designs were not necessary, and seemed to be heavier and had worse audio performance. So xbr65900E model fit the bill for us. Had a fraction of an inch more depth, but sounds great. This one does have an external power supply, so that adds the book-sized AC to DC converter to the things to store behind it, but I suspect that all makes the actual TV's weight and heat management easier. Crutchfield's ordering process easy. I really like their website and ability to download manuals, compare. Much better than others. Since price ended up being about the same between different places we've bought electronics before, I decided to go with Crutchfield's as a reward for their helpful site.
Excellent tv but still hard to get used to the difference between plasma and LED.
Pros: Excellent picture
Cons: Tuner not as good as older tv
Great TV and Crutchfield's delivery speed was terrific.
Bad quality. They send defect TV which loops into powering off within 15 seconds after you power on the TV. Called the tech service of Crutchfield but they told to contact Sony directly since it is the defect TV. I called Sony and after 15 minutes the tech guy try to resolve the problem but he could not. They want to send a replacement TV ( no guarantee on brand new TV or it will work without glitch that too aftwr I prove them with evidence (pictures). Then they will decide to send the replament one or not. Waste of my time and money. Th8s not expected from SONY and this site. Think before you buy the Sony products.ba
Pros: Nothimg.to say anything good.
Cons: Defect one.Crutchfield response on 4/18/2017 Sudhir, thanks for your review. We're sorry that the TV didn't work. Ken (from our Tech Support team) has sent out a new TV to replace this defective one. Before sending a replacement, Ken wanted to run the problem by Sony's technicians. We know how frustrating it can be to wait, so we were hoping they had a fix. But since Sony determined the TV was defective, Ken sent out the replacement.

4K HDR: For the ultimate in picture quality, this TV pairs the brilliance of 4K clarity with the brightness, color, and detail of High Dynamic Range (HDR). Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR video content delivers exceptional detail, color and contrast, with a far wider range of brightness than other video formats. The result is the most lifelike picture TVs have ever been able to create, with brilliant highlights and fine detail.
Note: Please use a premium high speed HDMI cable with 18 Gbps and above to view HDR content.
4K X-Reality Pro Upscaler: Sony's 4K X-Reality Pro Upscaler enhances Ultra-HD, HD, and SD images by analyzing and refining images with beautifully natural detail and astounding color. This 4K television upscales your favorite TV shows, DVD and Blu-ray movies, even video-on-demand content, and smartphone videos to Ultra-HD quality. This unique 4K X-Reality PRO picture processing technology upscales every pixel for remarkable clarity. Advanced noise reduction techniques and a special pattern database ensure every scene is full of lifelike detail. One database is used to clean the picture, reducing on-screen noise; the other is used to upscale the resolution, improving clarity; while another database improves color, brightness, and contrast. These three powerful image improvement databases work together, dynamically improving pixels in real time. Each database has tens of thousands of references, amassed from Sony's experience creating content for TV and movies over the years.
4K HDR Processor X1: The 4K HDR Processor X1 with Object-based HDR remaster and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR technology gives pure colors at higher brightness levels for truly natural pictures. See everything you watch come to life with greater depth, detail, and texture.
X-tended Dynamic Range PRO 5x: With extraordinary precision in backlight control, X-tended Dynamic Range PRO makes darker areas darker and brighter scenes brighter, revitalizing every scene with the widest range of brightness possible. This unique backlighting algorithm faithfully reproduces a far wider brightness range than a conventional LED-LCD TV with brighter peaks and deeper, more revealing shadow detail and blacks. By precisely balancing the light output across the screen, dimming some areas and boosting others, X-tended Dynamic Range PRO reveals a brightness range 5x greater than a conventional LED-LCD TV. When combined with a 4K HDR signal, you'll experience even greater brilliance in every scene as it increases the quality of HDR with more vibrant colors
TRILUMINOS Display: Unique to Sony, a TRILUMINOS Display with its specially developed backlight selectively maps colors across a wider gamut, ensuring subtle colors do not become oversaturated and unnatural. You'll enjoy vivid, authentic images that evoke the emotion in every scene. The more pencils you have to draw an image, the more vibrant and lifelike it becomes. TRILUMINOS Display works in the same way, using a wider color spectrum than a conventional LED-LCD display. A TRILUMINOS Display excels at reproducing reds, greens, and blues; colors that are notoriously difficult for TVs to display accurately. It also displays skin tones beautifully, thanks to its extensive color palette and precise gradation.
MotionFlow XR 960 Technology: Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving sequences with Motionflow XR 960. Sony's MotionFlow XR 960 technology feature a precise backlight control that is synchronized with the liquid crystal movement from frame-to-frame creating clearer, sharper moving images. MotionFlow XR 960 combines 120 frames-per-second with the TV's advanced LED backlight system to simulate a 960 Hz effect. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones and then compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences. MotionFlow XR 960 provides smooth and precise detail during fast-action scenes for fast action movies and sports by reducing blur caused by quick camera movements, enhancing image sharpness, and overall creating a clearer picture. You can select between various settings - Standard, Smooth, Clear, True Cinema (24fps), and Custom.
Video Inputs: The Sony Ultra-HD TV is equipped with HDMI 2.0a, Component, and Composite video inputs. A back cover has to be removed to access these video inputs.
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Clear QAM tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
Picture Adjustments: The TV offers a variety of screen, picture, and video adjustments to maximize image quality.
Light Sensor & Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE): The TV's built-in Light Sensor automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the amount of light in the room. As a result, you can enjoy automatic customized picture brightness and save energy without lifting a finger. The televisions Advance Contrast Enhancer (ACE) automatically adjusts backlight and contrast to the most suitable setting judging from the brightness of the screen. This setting is especially effective for dark scenes, and will increase the contrast distinction for the darker picture scenes.
Live Color Technology: Powered by an image processor using an algorithm specially developed by Sony, Live Color is able to reproduce incredibly vivid colors on screen. With four user-adjustable settings available (High/Medium/Low/Off), you can choose just how vivid you want your images to be. Whether it's a brilliant blue sky or a bright red rose, everything stands out so much more with Live Color.
Dynamic Contrast Enhancer: The Dynamic Contrast Enhancer optimizes the range of brightness frame-by-frame according to what's happening on screen to reproduce deeper blacks, brighter whites, and more video color.
24pTrue Cinema (24p Input Capability): Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p input capability via HDMI on this television producing images that are smooth and natural looking.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture): Through an over-the-network firmware update, the TV will support PIP (Picture-in-Picture). This feature lets you watch the TV's over-the-air tuner in a small window on-screen, while viewing an Android TV app (like Netflix or Amazon).
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 3 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an AV receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 3 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Audio Outputs: The Sony Ultra-HD TV offers analog and digital audio outputs, as well as Bluetooth headphone pairing (firmware update required).
S-Force Front Surround: S-Force Front Surround mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum; using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you'll enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.
ClearAudio+: ClearAudio+ fine-tunes TV sound for an immersive experience that seems to surround you. Hear music, dialog, and surround effects with greater clarity and separation, whatever you're watching.
Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE): Low-resolution Internet video and other heavily compressed audio files don't always sound so great. A large amount of information gets thrown away when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components (especially high frequencies) are restored for natural sound with a more spacious feel.
Clear Phase: Sony uses a powerful computer model to analyze and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response. It does this by "sampling" the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker's natural response; resulting in pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.
EQ: The TV offers four EQ preset sound modes - Standard, Cinema, Music, and Live Football. The TV is also equipped with a 7-band EQ (125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 8kHz). You can adjust the level of each band between -12 to +12 dB.
Voice Zoom & Night Mode: The Voice Zoom feature makes voices clearer by lowering background sound. Night mode provides a clear sound at a low volume levels.
Volume Offset & Auto Volume: Volume Offset adjusts the volume level of the current input relative to other inputs. The Advanced Auto Volume function keeps the volume level constant across all programs and advertisements.
TV Position: The speakers of this TV provide different sound images according to how you position the television. You can select between "Table-Top Stand" or "Wall Mount" to provide the best sound quality based on the television's placement.
Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Sony Ultra-HD TV supports a wired or wireless network connection. Via the TV's network connection you gain access to Android TV and Google Play, as well as content stored on your network computer. You also get the ability to stream content from your Android or Apple iOS mobile device to the TV.
Note: Sony recommends a home network connection speed of at least 2.5 Mbps recommended for standard definition, 10 Mbps for high definition, and 20 Mbps for ultra-high definition.
Android TV w/ Google Play: The Sony Ultra-HD TV is equipped with Android's Marshmallow (6.0.1) operating system and incorporates Android TV with access to a wide variety of apps from Google Play which have been optimized for playback on the big screen. Android TV gives you access to movie, music, sports, and other entertainment apps (subscription, rental, or purchase fees may apply). Click here to discover the full collection of Android TV Apps from Google Play. Not all Google Play apps will be Android TV compatible. More applications and streaming services will be available in the future. Popular apps include -
Note: 4K & 4K HDR network streaming requires a network speed of 20Mbps or greater. A wired Ethernet connection is recommended over a wireless WiFi connection for better performance. If you desire a WiFi connection, then use a dual-band Gigabit wireless-N router (or better) for 4K streaming. Make sure the Sony television has the latest software/firmware updates installed.
Mobile Device Streaming: The Sony Ultra-HD TV allows you to wirelessly stream content from a compatible mobile device using ChromeCast Built-in for playback on the big screen. You can also "mirror" your compatible mobile device using Miracast.
Smart Home Automation: Beyond streaming content, Sony's Android TV platform allows Home Automation control directly from the TV, via the Logitech Harmony Hub (596HMNYHUB, sold separately). IoT (internet of things) devices such as lights, thermostats, Blu-ray players, security cameras, and other home entertainment devices can be controlled and automated via the TV's remote and on-screen menus. Compatible with Nest and Phillips Hue (sold separately).
Note: Requires all compatible devices be connected to the same WiFi wireless network.
Opera Web Browser: You can download and install the Opera Web Browser to access select web content through the Sony TV. The built-in web browser also allows you to enter URLs and do basic keyword searches, so you can browse select websites (text-based only). The Opera Web Browser is not a full search engine for the Internet and Web. For Internet audio/video/photo content, use the Android TV apps. Some web-pages may not be supported and too large for download.
Note: The browsing experience may not be the same as it is on your computer. The web browser is not compatible with Flash video and Java applications. E-commerce, for purchasing products online is not supported. ActiveX is not supported.
Google Play Games w/ Gamepad: Download select video games from Google Play and play them on the big screen without the need for any game console. You can connect up to four wireless gamepads (sold separately) for multi-player gaming. Google Play Games even syncs your progress and achievements across your devices, so you can start playing on your Android smartphone or tablet and then move to the Sony TV when you get home.
Photo Sharing Plus: With Photo Sharing Plus, friends and family can share their memories together on the big screen from their Android (2.3+) or Apple iOS (6+) devices. Up to 10 mobile devices can be connected to the TV at once for a fun interactive experience. User can even save their favorite pics between devices.
Media Streaming: The Sony TV allows you to stream a variety of audio, video, and photo content from USB (MSC) , WiFi, and DLNA devices. Compatible media formats include MP3/WMA/WAV music files, MPEG/MP4/AVCHD/AVI/MKV/MOV video files, JPEG photo files.
Automatic Software Updates: Automatic software updates are done through the TV's Ethernet (LAN) port or built-in WiFi. The TV's software updates when the television is in standby mode. Visit the Sony eSupport site for the latest software updates.
Content Search: The TV offers unique ways to search and access your favorite and new content from the TV's tuner and Android TV apps.

Best 65" TV under $2300 period! [ Cory Jan 05, 2018 ]
For the money and features I needed, this was the smart choice. Sony is a top of the line product. [ Patrick Dec 31, 2017 ]
Seems about the right price for a 65" LCD with the (least) amount of features available but with well-reviewed (by other sites) picture quality. Return policy was OK and I'm gambling that it will not suffer from infant mortality. It's going to be used as a monitor for an AV Receiver which will manage all the audio. I don't care about Internet connectivity since that's also taken care of elsewhere. Also weight was a factor. The model one step up was quite a bit heavier and I'm wall-mounting it. [ Pierre Dec 21, 2017 ]
quality of picture and value of product [ ELLIOTT Dec 18, 2017 ]
It works seamlessly with a Sony receiver as well as the Sony blu ray player. One remote will do it all, even the cable remote. [ Steve C. Dec 17, 2017 ]

middle priced tv with all the bells and whistles. nemo's recommendation. [ Matt Dec 13, 2017 ]
Best screen that simulates reality! [ Claudio Nov 30, 2017 ]
My tv is a 9 year old plasma that just won't quite. I really wanted to uprade to a 65 inch for a dramatic experience. It was this tv or an OLED tv. If I went with the OLED tv I would have had to purchase a 55". The reviews for the television were all fantastic and I really wanted the bigger size. [ Christopher Nov 25, 2017 ]
I already purchased one and love it! [ Mark Nov 24, 2017 ]
Reviews from both Crutchfield and other online reviews of 65" 4K TV's [ Gregory Nov 24, 2017 ]

Best picture quality [ Robert Nov 24, 2017 ]
I've done exhaustive research, looking for the best (in budget) 65" 4K TV. The OLED's still suffer screen burn, despite their breathtaking blacks. Sony X930E has haloing issues with letterboxed shows, even though it is probably the best edge lit TV ever made. Sony may never support Dolby Vision or Technicolor HDR - I would like for them to, but then no current panel can do Dolby's 10,000 nits of peak brightness. The 900E gets close to 1000 which is currently about as good as there is. [ Michael Nov 24, 2017 ]
Good TV for the price offered. Capabilities seems nice and picture quality is great. [ Kalpit R. Nov 23, 2017 ]
Based on hours of research on 4K HD TV's, the Sony X900E is a highly recommended TV across the board for picture quality, performance, and functional capabilities. I also viewed this TV at a local electronics store and was impressed by the picture quality. [ Jason Nov 22, 2017 ]
i chose this TV mostly because of the online reviews and Youtube videos. i currently have a 60" plasma and wanted something comparable picture wise. [ justin Nov 22, 2017 ]

Performed research and the Sony 900 series struck a good balance between performance and price. [ Tim Nov 16, 2017 ]
$1,000 cheaper than OLED and the best 65" TV available in its price class. [ Lawrence Nov 16, 2017 ]
I wanted to upgrade my 10 year old 42" TV. I did a lot of research and the Sony 65x900e ranked very high on every site and the buyer reviews were great. The price at Crutchfield was marked down competitively compared to other online and box retailers. In addition to the tax savings at Crutchfield, I have purchased TVs and a camera from them in the past so I trust them. When I had an issue with the camera they replaced it without a hassle. [ MICHAEL Nov 16, 2017 ]
It's an excellent tv. I have a bright living room - this tv will work perfectly. [ Joe Nov 16, 2017 ]
Time for a new upgraded tv in my household. I trust Sony products and this was the best for the price. [ Jeongeun Nov 16, 2017 ]
Great price, for a great reviewed 4k HDR tv. [ Domingo Nov 16, 2017 ]
I chose this model because it seemed to hit the price/performance sweet spot. I really liked the fact that the TV was "full array" as opposed to "edge lit". [ Michael Nov 11, 2017 ]
Researched extensively. Crutchfield had a good price, and I trust their service for this tv. [ Andrew Nov 09, 2017 ]
Read everything I could before making my decision. Great reviews I'm a former Samsung guy, now I guess its Sony for awhile! [ Noah Oct 22, 2017 ]
It's a SONY [ Ronald Oct 16, 2017 ]
I have been looking for a new TV for 3 months & I narrowed it down to this & the Sony 930e. They are very similar in picture quality but not in price. I am constantly chasing the perfect picture this as good as it gets without spending over $2K. The 930 is a little better in quality but not $700 better. A tip for trying to make the right decision don't over think it. Once you see this in your house you'll forget about all the other options. The PS4 Pro and 4K UHD Blu-rays both look amazing. [ Cory Oct 16, 2017 ]
Rated to be one of the best TVs outside of OLED and QLED [ Adam Sep 29, 2017 ]
Always liked Sony and this TV price per performance ratio for a 4k TV is about the best I could find. Wanted a 4k set that was top quality. I read many reviews on this model before making my decision. Will be purchasing Sony x800 4k blu ray player soon. Wade K. [ Ann Sep 25, 2017 ]

my cousin has XBR-65X930D (top of line) from 2016 which made me look at Sony. The picture is unbelievable! This year's model 2017 XBR65X900E just as nice if not better! [ Raymond Jul 19, 2017 ]
Best TV for my budget [ JEFFREY Jul 09, 2017 ]
Did LOTS of web searches for 4K TV's...multiple sites....the reviews clearly steered me in the direction of the 900E as having excellent specs at the right price point (did not want to spend too much). [ Norman Eric Jun 28, 2017 ]
Highly Rated. Heard good things about the 900E. Considered the 930E, but couldn't pull the trigger on 3 Grand. [ Steven Jun 23, 2017 ]

The set has a Sling TV app built in to it's Android TV platform [ RAY Nov 20, 2017 ]
Yes. It's an android tv so anything with an android tv app is available for download, including sling tv. [ Jonathan Nov 19, 2017 ]
Yes, this tv comes with sling tv apps. You don't need to buy rukon [ Berhe Nov 19, 2017 ]
Yes, it has Sling TV. It is an Android TV and has a lot of applications. [ Matthew Nov 19, 2017 ]
I have not used it, but there is a "Sling TV" icon in the 'Featured Apps' section of the 'Home' screen (e.g., Amazon Video, Hulu, Netflix, Plex, etc.) that can be installed on this device. Note, however, it *may* not work as well as a Roku - since I can't put a link here, try Googling "sony xbr65x900e sling tv app android issues" and see the issues that some have had. RTINGS Use their calibration settings [ Lawrence Sep 17, 2017 ]
Hello Sir, I wish I could be of assistance but we purchased this TV as a gift for a friend. I am pretty sure he has not calibrated it. I do know though he is very happy with this model from Sony. [ joseph Sep 17, 2017 ]
It says not to link other places, but I hope this comment makes it through moderation because the Calibration Settings page for this tv on Rtings does a fantastic breakdown. [ Jonathan Sep 16, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. You should be good. You'll have 8.5 feet from the tv to the floor, then another 6 feet from the power block to the outlet. Here is information from the product page "Details" tab. Hope this helps. The television comes with an external AC power supply, a 8.5' proprietary power cord, and a 6' AC power cord. With power cords attached, the external power supply measures 15.5" (w) x 1.25" (h) x 3.0" (d). The AC power supply plugs into the back of the TV via the included proprietary cable. The AC power cord also plugs into the external AC power supply and is terminated by a straight two-prong AC plug which plugs into a wall outlet. The two-prong AC plug sits 1.5" from the wall. We didn't get that information in the documentation or the manual that I could see. I called Sony's technical support but they couldn't tell me the number of dimming zones the TV has. I don't think we are going to be able to help with that question. As for the halo effect, I'm really hopeful that it doesn't have that. Sony is set to come train us on their TV's in mid June. I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 after then to find out if that TV was brought and what we seen from it. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul Apr 04, 2017 ] Staff
We have not arranged a demo on this TV yet. We will be able to answer the black levels question once that has been done. However, the trainers do some calibration to the TV's when they set them up which means I will not be able to see what it looks like right out of the box. My past experiences with TV's is that look pretty good and I don't need to calibrate my TV's any; I can use them right out of the box and am happy with the image I see. Dolby Vision is the version of HDR that comes from Amazon. If you never stream from there, then you will not miss this ability.
