Premium picture quality and design

Basic, bare-bones 4K TVs are now amazingly cheap. But if you want a picture that will consistently wow you, no matter what source you're using, invest in a premium 4K model like the Sony XBR-75X900E. Thanks to Sony's unsurpassed video processing technology, along with a boost in peak brightness capability, this TV delivers a vibrant, lifelike picture, especially with HDR (High Dynamic Range) content.

Wide-open color, clarity and contrast

What 4K does for picture detail, HDR does for contrast and color. Before HDR, video standards were based on old-school tube TVs with low brightness capabilities. By comparison, HDR-equipped TVs like the XBR-75X900E can display much greater contrast and a wider color spectrum. The combination makes pictures pop like you've never seen before.

The XBR-75X900E's full-array LED backlight produces accurate, localized lighting across the entire screen. By dimming some areas of the screen and boosting others, Sony's X-tended Dynamic Range PRO™ technology produces a brightness range that's about 5 times wider than what we've been used to with conventional LED-backlit TVs. And Sony's Motionflow™ XR 960 with 120Hz refresh rate is still one of the best blur-reduction technologies around.

Ready for 4K and HDR content

The XBR-75X900E is a great way to enjoy the HDR picture enhancements available from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players and discs. And it will effortlessly display the streamed 4K/HDR movies and TV series available from Netflix®, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, and more.

A lot of people aren't aware that you don't need 4K content to enjoy a terrific picture on a Sony 4K TV. Based on ten years' experience upscaling movies to 4K in movie theaters around the world, Sony has developed a processor so advanced it can upscale HD content to near-4K quality. This 4K X-Reality™ Pro chip visibly improves detail and color on all your sources.

A smart home begins with a smart TV

The XBR-75X900E's built-in Android operating system lets you easily log in to your Google ID to access a huge collection of apps, games and content from Google Play. Use the Google Cast feature (now called Chromecast built-in) to stream movies, pictures, and TV shows from your iOS or Android-based phone, or from a laptop. The remote has a built-in microphone that makes it easy to search for a particular movie or actor just by saying the name.

Amazing picture with vivid colors and deep blacks! Setup was extremely easy syncing with my android phone. Hooking up my satellite box, a/v receiver, DVD player and PS4 was straight-forward. The volume can be controlled by either the Sony, satellite or a/v receiver remotes. The sound straight from the television is pretty good considering it is coming from the back. The highs and lows are incredible when its hooked up to my receiver. The voice input on the remote control is a nice feature. Great for searching for yahoo videos, restaurants, etc. A great television overall! Delivery time was three days. The television and the packaging arrived in perfect condition. Thanks Crutchfield for carrying such a great television!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tv is very very good considering the price point. I looked at the newer 900f version and its actually costs more. I did a comparison on both TV's and the only thing I can notice is the 900f has a wider viewing angle compared to the 900e model. The picture looks about the same in terms of lighting, sharpness and clarity. Also the specs on the 900f version says it's 40% more or better. I hooked my ps4 and xbox1x and it's pretty darn good too, not too much input lag. The picture has fluid like motion and very deep blacks. If your considering buying a tv this large through Crutchfield I would suggest spending extra time once it hits the ups delivery end to call and have them put a note to inspect the tv before delivering for and holes and damage on the box. Most issues with large TV's is because of how they are handled during shipping. I would advise on getting a square trade warranty for 4 years because as well. A big box local retailer offers a similar warranty for about this tv size. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TV'S YOU CAN GET FOR FOR THE PRICE. I did my research. I just got the tv so I will post a follow up review in the next few months for reliability, issues stuff like that.

Pros: Outstanding picture, deep oled like blacks, fluid like motion and good to very good video game input lag.

    Cons: Narrow viewing angle

Great shipping time. When calibrated this is an awesome tv. Colors pop out with great detail and sharpness. Easy unpacking and set up.

Pros: Awesome picture. Very bright with great black levels.

Cons: Like most led tv's, could have better sound , but that's how they keep them thin.

This TV is all that I was looking for.

This TV is all that I was looking for. After adjusting the settings I am very pleased. I still have a lot to learn about this tv, but to me the most important thing is the picture quality and that's great.

Pros: Picture after adjusting to my liking.

    Cons: A little pricey.

    Fantastic picture with Android OS

David from Gurnee, IL on 5/12/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The picture on this TV is incredible. I am constantly amazed at how good it looks. It has so many options with the Android operating system that I am now completely cable free. That is unless you count the power and network cable but those are easy to hide behind a TV this large. If you have DirecTV it appears as if the cable from the dish hooks directly to the TV. I cannot express how pleased I am with this Sony TV and Crutchfield is incredible too. I had a few dark spots on the screen along the bottom edge and Crutchfield sent out a replacement within days. I have found myself upgrading TV's every 3 or 4 years for some time now but I think this Sony should make upgrading unnecessary within that time frame. Boo Yah!

Pros: Picture is outstanding. Android OS allows for many options to the menu.

    Cons: Glare on the screen

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wonderful amazing high speed (no motion blur) picture. I had an issue with this TV that actually may have been caused from how the TV was handled during the mounting process (be careful and follow the instructions well). However, I can not say enough about Crutchfield. I have made several purchases from Crutchfield while slowly building a Dolby Atmos home theater system. Throughout the process they have answered several questions, given advice and recommendations, and never made me feel as though I was a bother. You can certainly tell that they love what they do, and they were eager to share their knowledge. Regarding the TV, they never interrogated me or made me feel in anyway as though I was negligent. In fact, they took care of everything on the Saturday before Easter. I never played for shipping at any time, and the new tv was delivered, and the other tv was picked up quickly and without issue. What a great company. I will never purchase big ticket items from anywhere else but Crutchfield. What a great crew and what a great company. Thank you.

Pros: So pure and clear, even up close. Bright, clean and fast. Great access to apps and fast response with Ethernet connection.

Cons: Could use a better manual

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow I love this TV !!!! I bought a Samsung MU3000 its was nice but the TV was edge lit. So when there was a black screen and then a bright color would show on the screen, you would see the black turn lighter from the bottom of the screen all the way to the top. They call it blooming. This Sony TV is NOT edge lit and the colors are amazing!!! Blacks are REALLY black (Almost like OLED). If you can afford this tv the GET IT!!!

Pros: Beautiful picture and color and great blacks.

Cons: Need a more updated remote control

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Extremely easy set up takes just a few minutes. Picture requires tuning out of the box but this is relatively easy to complete. Crystal clear picture on wide 75 inch screen. Love Netflix and Google buttons right on the Remote. Sound is OK right out of the box. Although I did purchase a Sony sound bar with the TV I haven't yet installed it. I plan to this weekend though and will add to the review afterward. Extremely happy with this purchase. Only a few days since set up though. Also will say Crutchfield is awesome to work with. Very helpful rep on the phone and delivery was quick.

Pros: Easy Setup, Crystal clear picture

Cons: a bit pricey but great picture quality makes it easier to justify

    Spectacular picture!

This TV is amazing! Setup was simple tied to my new Onkyo receiver and 7.1 system. Went through the setup and utilized settings recommended online with some personal tweaks. My last XBR lasted over 8 years; though the difference in the picture now is astounding. Watching some 4K from Netflix is awesome. The pricepoint was perfect. Crutchfield service as always is top notch. Thanks for your help!

    Better than Plasma

James from Mt Pleasant, MI on 1/30/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first "big" non plasma TV purchase. Always been a plasma fan and didn't think it could get any better than a plasma TV. All I can say is "WOW"!Awesome TV. I researched 4k TV's for 6 months and my research always came back to the Sony 75X900E. Let me tell you, the picture is absolutely fantastic! Take the time to play with the calibration and you will be rewarded with rich vibrant colors and deep blacks. The price drop made this purchase a "no brainer". Crutchfield made the delivery process as easy as possible. UPS called me and I told them I would be home after 4PM and they showed up to my house at 4:30PM. Been buying from Crutchfield since the 80's and every purchase has been smooth and hassle free. Thanks Crutchfield!!

    Pros:

    Cons:

No OLED burn in with nearly as good picture.

Average Joe from North Branford, CT on 1/28/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced a 6 year old Sharp 70" 3D edge lit set with this Sony from Crutchfield. FALD X900E picture beats the snot out of the old set, it is much brighter with jet blacks and no edge bleed. Netflix works reliably on WiFi, the Sharp not so much. Fed with a regular Comcast HD cable box the picture on regular TV and on demand looks great, bright, colorful and clear. A consideration for me was a reasonable stand foot print, not the god awful spindly legs at the extreme ends of the case many of the sets have now (even the next version of this set!). It was delivered in 4 days to CT from VA, 1 day delay due to snow. Easy to unpack and assemble with two people. Uses ~300 watts with an old Bose 3-2-1 audio system.

Pros: No switching power supply "brick" like 49, 55 and 65". Thin bezel. Great stand, assembly does not require placing the set on it's face.

Cons: Native speakers weak but aren't they all.

    Will not be disappointed!

Victor from Hollywood, FL on 1/27/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Did research to get the best bang for my buck. For me the Sony XBR-75X900E was it. Was hesitant on spending same amount of money for a 65 inch OLED due to image retention concerns. Also could get a much bigger TV for relatively minor price difference using proven technology. I have not been disappointed. I have had this TV for about 1 month now, I very pleased seeing movies, sports and general viewing. I was originally concerned about motion blur due to 120 Hz on such a big screen but, whatever Sony has done, I do not perceive any motion blur and very happy with fast moving scenes. All I can ask for now is that it continues to perform as it is doing now, for many years and I will be thrilled to death. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone that wants awesome pictures with unbelievable clarity. I also invested in a great audio system. Now every movie is like seeing it at the theater.

Pros: Price for size of screen. Excellent picture clarity. No perceivable motion blur for such a large screen. Easy to set up. Small frame around TV is aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: Do not think the Audio is sufficient for getting the most out of this TV. But I knew that when I purchased it since, many of the reviews pointed this out. Seems you can get more powerful speakers with more apps, if you buy a different model of this TV. My personal opinion, invest in a good set of surround speakers and a high quality audio receiver. Audio was not the main driver for purchasing this TV.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I cannot imagine anyone not liking this awesome picture quality. Upgraded from an LG 55LW5600 and this sony knocks it out of the park especially on dim scenes. Plus, Crutchfield is 2nd to none for support, satisfaction, and peace of mind. Not even a trace of buyers remorse. Glad I bought it from the moment I 1st saw it.

Pros: Awesome picture quality Great inky black level from full array dimming

Cons: Slight wash out at wide angle but not a deal breaker

Craig from Alpharetta, GA on 1/19/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

WOW - These days it is sometimes difficult to justify the need to upgrade. I've been rotating TVs, eventually upsizing each room in the house. This XBR900 is "replacing" a Sony 65X850B (2016.) and the difference is impressive. The first thing I noticed was a superior interface in Android TV. Moments later I streamed 4K content from Netflix and Boom! (a good Boom) .... Bright, crisp, vibrant and dynamic. Delivery via UPS freight was fast and easy, even with the bad winter weather. Just Buy it!

But for the first time ever, even with a Samsung cable box and a Yamaha sound bar, everything works from one remote (the one supplied with the TV)! I was also able to ditch my Fire Stick since the TV can handle anything the stick can, including Kodi to access my local files - they're both built on the Android platform. I picked this over the x940e because it's better on motion blur, the lag time is slightly less which matters for gaming and as a monitor (I'm using it to write this review - native 4k resolution gives you a heck of a lot of desktop space, and at 75", I can sit about 6 feet away and it works great!), the lag time is less, and of course it was thousands of dollars less. I've only had it since Black Friday, but so far, so good.

Pros: - Great picture, color is excellent - Works great as a PC monitor - One remote for everything, finally!

Cons: - A bit wonky to figure out depending on your setup - Organizing principles of the "Smart TV" part could be a lot better

    Amazing for 4K Content

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having had the XBR-75X900E for about 6 months now think, I couldn't be more pleased. I was initially concerned going from a 55" inch 1080p TV to something so huge, especially for a Condo that doesn't have the biggest living room area, but after getting used to it, I'm glad I purchased the 75". The size is especially good for Letter-Boxed 16:9 content like 4K UHD Blu-Ray's. The TV itseld has a myriad of options and settings to tweak the picture to your hearts content, but you'll find that even with the most basic canned settings, the picture still looks amazing. The one minor drawback, and I've read this on other reviews, is that even as huge as this TV is, it is very sensitive to to washout on off-angle view. This TV loves / needs to be viewed from the center as best as possible. If you're going to hang it from a wall, make sure the TV is angled down to face you directly as possible. The picture is so good when directly viewed that it can be very frustrating when you're off by a hair and see all the colors wash out because you ended up on the wrong end of the Sofa that day.

Pros: Color. 4K content looks Glorious. Very good Up-scaling.

    Cons: Off Angle Viewing

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So why you must buy from Crutchfield? When I was looking for a 75" UHD TV I was looking at LG OLED's and Samsung's as I was shopping at Costco. LG OLED was good but at 75" it gets pricey so I had to reduce my need to 65". Then I remembered Crutchfield as I have dealt with their superior service in 2003. So Before I made my decision on the 65 inch LG OLED, I decided to call them to get their opinion. The Crutchfield rep was the one who recommended SONY XBR 900E model and my due diligence revealed excellent reviews all over the web. With the price point I did not have to downgrade to 65" either. So I decided to buy this TV. Let me tell you, all I can say is WOW the difference between this TV and LG OLED is hardly noticeable to my inexperienced eyes. I am very happy with this purchase and I am very thankful to the reps at Crutchfield who answered all my questions and recommended this TV. Great Job. So coming back to my question, Why do you buy from Crutchfield? Simple its "CUSTOMER SERVICE". You get for the same price as any other reputable dealer 1. Great Service and opportunity to chat with technical experts who know what they are talking about. 2. Product recommendations that are true and honest not some sales guy trying to sell you something. Crutchfield keep up the good work, you guys have not changed since 2003. You have a very happy customer. I do not know how you do it, but please don't change anything about the way to run this com

Top-rated LED TV by major consumer magazine -- with good reason. Great picture and decent sound are obvious, but the "smart" features are amazing. Connecting internet and PC, as well as cable, Blu-Ray, receiver (for TV's audio output), and even an old VCR were simply a matter connecting cables. The TV recognized everything. Important to us is that the picture is bright even in a bright room.

    Pros: Picture, "smart" features

    Cons: Highly reflective screen

I have been waiting to buy this tv all year. It did not disappoint. If you are on the fence just get it. It is big, gets bright, 4k on this thing looks amazing. I am a gamer and the response time is better than any tv I have owned.

Pros: Brightness, Colors, Response time, Contrast.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The picture is amazing, but you probably already know that. Does not do Dolby Vision HDR, but the HDR 4k Blu-Rays I have bought so far look fantastic to me. Main thing I want to say is that I love the software. It can be a little sluggish in terms of response time, but the apps and menus are beautiful and I have found most of the software to be really intuitive. I paired this with a new Sony 4k Blu Ray player and their Atmos Soundbar and the integration is seamless.

Pros: Beautiful picture, seamless integration with other Sony devices (Soundbar and Blu Ray), and the software on the TV is beautiful and intuitive.

Cons: No Dolby Vision, once in a while the software/OS lags a little bit. It's not horrible....so far.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After researching every 2017 television made, I finally chose the 900e. Having seen it side by side with the 930e and Samsung QLED sets, I was confident in my choice. Once the price dropped to my range, I shopped around for a reputable seller. I have buying from Crutchfield since the days of annoyingly loud car stereos. They've yet to disappoint me.

Pros: So far, so good. After many hours of research, both online and in person, I decided to purchase the 75" Sony 900e. It has lived up to its reviews and is a great television for me. (Rtings.com has a very good, detailed review on it.)

Cons: As with all thin televisions, the sound isn't the greatest. Once connected to my sound bar, that problem was solved.

This TV replaces the Sony XBR 52" TV I purchased back in 2008 which still works perfect and is up in my bedroom. The 75" Sony 4K XBR 900E is the 8th Sony I have purchased since 1980. The new TV is outstanding and Crutchfield really has there act together.

This is the best 75" TV in my opinion at this time, however you must sit directly in front of the TV to obtain the best picture. Moving slightly off center you will begin to notice a change in picture quality. The TV has such a good picture when viewing straight on, the minute you move 15 degrees off center, it changes. With a little better viewing angle I would give this TV a 5++, however I'm debating if switching to a 65" OLED is the right thing to do. Ask yourself if you want a Bigger screen (Sony 75" 900E) or Best viewing picture (OLED 65") from all seating locations.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having been accustomed to the image quality of Plasma TV from the time of Pionner and Panasonic sets I decided to upgrade to a 4k TV without breaking my bank account and decided to compromise on a model at the middle of the pack and so far I am very pleased with the IQ I see from my new TV. I have friends who own TVs on the higher end from both Sony and OLED TV from other brands and although the IQ is superior I could not justify the difference in price based on my budget. You won't be disappointed with this set. I just wish manufacturers would have a couple of recommendations for settings just to get the best starting point before a professional calibration.

Pros: - Picture quality - Great set of Android apps - Very easy to assemble - After a few tweaks and settings borrowed from online forums you can get a decent image quality until you get a real calibration

Cons: - After 2 weeks I have not seen any - Less forgiving to low quality Directv input than smaller screens, but that is not really a TV issue - The TV should be paired with a home theater system but if you use it stand alone you will be disappointed on the sound quality.

    Video Features

4K HDR: For the ultimate in picture quality, this TV pairs the brilliance of 4K clarity with the brightness, color, and detail of High Dynamic Range (HDR). Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR video content delivers exceptional detail, color and contrast, with a far wider range of brightness than other video formats. The result is the most lifelike picture TVs have ever been able to create, with brilliant highlights and fine detail.

    • Ultra 4K Resolution: See more on TV than ever before with over 8 million individual pixels (3,840 x 2,160) compared to about 2 million (1,920 x 1,080) on your 1080p HDTV. Advanced picture processing also ensures that every single pixel displays images with superb brightness and authentic detail. It's the highest resolution picture Sony has ever produced on a TV.
    • HDR (High Dynamic Range): HDR (High Dynamic Range) reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, bringing greater contrast & wider color spectrum to the screen. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. Previously hidden areas of dark shadow and sunlight are now full of clarity and detail. The Sony TV supports two HDR formats - including HDR10 which is the most widely used format and is installed from the factory, plus HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma) which is designed for over-the-air broadcast and requires an over-the-network firmware update.

Note: Please use a premium high speed HDMI cable with 18 Gbps and above to view HDR content.

4K X-Reality Pro Upscaler: Sony's  4K X-Reality Pro Upscaler enhances Ultra-HD, HD, and SD images by analyzing and refining images with beautifully natural detail and astounding color. This 4K television upscales your favorite TV shows, DVD and Blu-ray movies, even video-on-demand content, and smartphone videos to Ultra-HD quality. This unique 4K X-Reality PRO picture processing technology upscales every pixel for remarkable clarity. Advanced noise reduction techniques and a special pattern database ensure every scene is full of lifelike detail. One database is used to clean the picture, reducing on-screen noise; the other is used to upscale the resolution, improving clarity; while another database improves color, brightness, and contrast. These three powerful image improvement databases work together, dynamically improving pixels in real time. Each database has tens of thousands of references, amassed from Sony's experience creating content for TV and movies over the years.

    • Upscaling Database: Unique to Sony, 4K X-Reality PRO picture processing upscales every pixel for remarkable clarity. Pixels across multiple frames are analyzed and images sharpened and refined in real time. You will immediately see the detail appear in faces and skin tones.
    • Pattern Database: With 4K X-Reality PRO, patterns in images are compared with patterns stored in a unique database to find the best hue, saturation, and brightness for each pixel. Sony uses the knowledge gained from developing and filming blockbuster movies and TV shows to deliver supremely lifelike detail in everything you watch.
    • Noise Reduction Database: Compressed noise is identified by the database, which includes "before and after" data on what a picture should look like and removes the compressed picture noise. A variety of noise reduction techniques are then used by 4K X-Reality PRO to sharpen and refine images. You'll immediately see how scenes become clearer, smoother, and more natural.

4K HDR Processor X1: The 4K HDR Processor X1 with Object-based HDR remaster and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR technology gives pure colors at higher brightness levels for truly natural pictures. See everything you watch come to life with greater depth, detail, and texture.

    • Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR: Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR creates a smoother, more natural picture by minimizing its color banding. With 14-bit powerful signal processing, it breaks up the solid bands of color of an 8-bit or 10-bit source, up-converting to 14-bit equivalent gradation, with 64x more color levels. It delivers graceful reproduction of faces, sunsets, and other areas of subtle color.
    • Object-Based HDR Remaster: By analyzing the objects in each scene individually, Object-based HDR remaster optimizes and enhances color and contrast. It brings everything you watch closer to the quality of HDR. Dark elements get darker, bright elements brighter, and everything in between is more accurately lit, for realism in every scene never-before-possible on our TVs. You'll see contours on mountains, hidden textures on flowers, depth in clouds, and wildlife has the contrast and color of nature, for a more natural and realistic picture on screen.

X-tended Dynamic Range PRO 5x: With extraordinary precision in backlight control, X-tended Dynamic Range PRO makes darker areas darker and brighter scenes brighter, revitalizing every scene with the widest range of brightness possible.  This unique backlighting algorithm faithfully reproduces a far wider brightness range than a conventional LED-LCD TV with brighter peaks and deeper, more revealing shadow detail and blacks. By precisely balancing the light output across the screen, dimming some areas and boosting others, X-tended Dynamic Range PRO reveals a brightness range 5x greater than a conventional LED-LCD TV. When combined with a 4K HDR signal, you'll experience even greater brilliance in every scene as it increases the quality of HDR with more vibrant colors

TRILUMINOS Display: Unique to Sony, a TRILUMINOS Display with its specially developed backlight selectively maps colors across a wider gamut, ensuring subtle colors do not become oversaturated and unnatural. You'll enjoy vivid, authentic images that evoke the emotion in every scene. The more pencils you have to draw an image, the more vibrant and lifelike it becomes. TRILUMINOS Display works in the same way, using a wider color spectrum than a conventional LED-LCD display. A TRILUMINOS Display excels at reproducing reds, greens, and blues; colors that are notoriously difficult for TVs to display accurately. It also displays skin tones beautifully, thanks to its extensive color palette and precise gradation.

MotionFlow XR 960 Technology: Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving sequences with Motionflow XR 960. Sony's MotionFlow XR 960 technology feature a precise backlight control that is synchronized with the liquid crystal movement from frame-to-frame creating clearer, sharper moving images. MotionFlow XR 960 combines 120 frames-per-second with the TV's advanced LED backlight system to simulate a 960 Hz effect. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones and then compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences. MotionFlow XR 960 provides smooth and precise detail during fast-action scenes for fast action movies and sports by reducing blur caused by quick camera movements, enhancing image sharpness, and overall creating a clearer picture. You can select between various settings - Standard, Smooth, Clear, True Cinema (24fps), and Custom.

Video Inputs: The Sony Ultra-HD TV is equipped with HDMI 2.0a, Component, and Composite video inputs. A back cover has to be removed to access these video inputs.

    • HDMI 2.0a: The Ultra-HD TV is fitted with four HDMI 2.0a inputs to connect your Ultra-HD/HDR and HD sources; such as Ultra Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Satellite/Cable and Playstation. In addition, any HDMI input can be used to connect a PC to this TV. The HDMI inputs will accept 4K, 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals. HDMI inputs 2 & 3 will do 4K (60Hz), while HDMI inputs 1 & 4 will only support 4K (30/24Hz)
      • HDCP 2.2: HDCP 2.2 is supported by all of the TV's HDMI inputs. HDCP 2.2 is short for "High bandwidth Digital Content Protection" and is used for 4K video copyright protection for compatibility with Ultra HD Blu-ray players and 4K Satellite/Cable providers.
      • 4:4:4 Color Subsampling: All four HDMI inputs will support up to 4:4:4 chroma subsampling for full color data rendering of 4K video (30/60fps). 4:2:2 (30/60fps) and 4:2:0 (60fps) are also supported by all HDMI inputs. With 4:4:4 color, luminance (brightness) and chroma (color) are sampled at the same rate, resulting in an RGB color palette as big as the video sampling rate for a video image with more total colors, plus greater color accuracy and detail.
    • Component/Composite: There is one combination analog video input that can be used as a component or composite video input; it shares a single stereo RCA audio input. As a component video input, it will accept 1080p (60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals. As a composite video input, it will support 480i video signals only. There is also a 3.5mm AV input for connection of an analog audio/video component.
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Clear QAM tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.

Picture Adjustments: The TV offers a variety of screen, picture, and video adjustments to maximize image quality.

    • Screen Modes: The Screen Modes feature allows you to select the screen display which fits the current video image and TV screen best. Choose from Wide Zoom, Normal, Full, Zoom, or Auto Wide. Based on the original signal source, you may see black bars around the picture or just on the both sides of the screen. Sometimes you will see the picture fill  the full screen.
    • Picture Modes: You can select one of the following picture modes - Standard, Vivid, Cinema (Pro/Home), Sports, Animation, and Custom.
    • Advanced Video Settings: The Advanced Video Settings menu offers further adjustment of the TV's video image.
      • Brightness: You can increase or decrease the brightness of an image by adjusting the TV's Brightness, Contrast, Gamma (adjusts light/dark balance), Black Level, and Black Adjust (enhances black areas).
      • Color: You can tailor the color of an image by adjusting the TV's Color, Hue, Color Temperature (white balance), Color Space (sets color reproduction range), or Live Color (produces vivid colors).
      • Clarity: You can improve the clarity of an image by adjusting the TV's Sharpness, Reality Creation (increases clarity), Resolution (increases detail), and Noise reduction (removes noise).
      • Motion: Activate Sony's Motionflow technology to reduce motion blur and judder. CineMotion provides improved picture movement and reduces picture blur and graininess for film-based content, like Blu-ray & DVD.

Light Sensor & Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE): The TV's built-in Light Sensor automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the amount of light in the room. As a result, you can enjoy automatic customized picture brightness and save energy without lifting a finger. The televisions Advance Contrast Enhancer (ACE) automatically adjusts backlight and contrast to the most suitable setting judging from the brightness of the screen. This setting is especially effective for dark scenes, and will increase the contrast distinction for the darker picture scenes.

Live Color Technology: Powered by an image processor using an algorithm specially developed by Sony, Live Color is able to reproduce incredibly vivid colors on screen. With four user-adjustable settings available (High/Medium/Low/Off), you can choose just how vivid you want your images to be. Whether it's a brilliant blue sky or a bright red rose, everything stands out so much more with Live Color.

Dynamic Contrast Enhancer: The Dynamic Contrast Enhancer optimizes the range of brightness frame-by-frame according to what's happening on screen to reproduce deeper blacks, brighter whites, and more video color.

24pTrue Cinema (24p Input Capability): Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p input capability via HDMI on this television producing images that are smooth and natural looking.

PIP (Picture-in-Picture): Through an over-the-network firmware update, the TV will support PIP (Picture-in-Picture). This feature lets you watch the TV's over-the-air tuner in a small window on-screen, while viewing an Android TV app (like Netflix or Amazon).

    Audio Features

ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 3 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input.

    • The audio from the TV's tuner, HDMI inputs, USB ports, and Android TV apps can pass as Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS, or 2ch PCM.
    • Analog connected & DLNA compliant devices will be output audio at 2ch PCM only.

Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an AV receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 3 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.

Audio Outputs: The Sony Ultra-HD TV offers analog and digital audio outputs, as well as Bluetooth headphone pairing (firmware update required).

    • Digital Audio (Dolby Digital/DTS): The optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital/DTS (when available) or 2 channel PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital/DTS when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner, network apps, HDMI inputs, and USB ports on the TV. The optical digital audio output will only output in 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via RCA.
    • Headphone/Analog Output: The TV's 3.5mm analog output can be used to connect a set of headphones or as an audio output to connect your home theater receiver or soundbar system. You will need a minijack-to-RCA adapter (sold separately) to make a stereo RCA connection between the television and your AV receiver. The TV's analog audio output terminal will output 2ch audio from any of the television's source inputs. You can set the TV's analog output to Fixed or Variable. You can set the TV to automatically mute the built-in speakers when a set of headphones are connected.
    • Bluetooth Headphone Pairing (Requires Firmware Update): Through an over-the-network firmware update, the TV will be able to support Bluetooth headphone pairing - allowing you to stream audio from the television's built-in and connected sources to a Bluetooth-enabled set of headphones (only one set of headphones can be paired - not compatible with Bluetooth speakers). Bluetooth headphone volume level can be controlled from both the TV's remote and headphones. The TV's built-in speakers and audio outputs will be deactivated when streaming audio via Bluetooth.

S-Force Front Surround: S-Force Front Surround mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum; using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you'll enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.

ClearAudio+: ClearAudio+ fine-tunes TV sound for an immersive experience that seems to surround you. Hear music, dialog, and surround effects with greater clarity and separation, whatever you're watching.

Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE): Low-resolution Internet video and other heavily compressed audio files don't always sound so great. A large amount of information gets thrown away when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components (especially high frequencies) are restored for natural sound with a more spacious feel.

Clear Phase: Sony uses a powerful computer model to analyze and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response. It does this by "sampling" the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker's natural response; resulting in pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.

EQ: The TV offers four EQ preset sound modes - Standard, Cinema, Music, and Live Football. The TV is also equipped with a 7-band EQ (125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 8kHz). You can adjust the level of each band between -12 to +12 dB.

Voice Zoom & Night Mode: The Voice Zoom feature makes voices clearer by lowering background sound. Night mode provides a clear sound at a low volume levels.

Volume Offset & Auto Volume: Volume Offset adjusts the volume level of the current input relative to other inputs. The Advanced Auto Volume function keeps the volume level constant across all programs and advertisements.

TV Position: The speakers of this TV provide different sound images according to how you position the television. You can select between "Table-Top Stand" or "Wall Mount" to provide the best sound quality based on the television's placement.

    Network & USB Functions

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Sony Ultra-HD TV supports a wired or wireless network connection. Via the TV's network connection you gain access to Android TV and Google Play, as well as content stored on your network computer. Why did you buy this?

Reviews on rtings com plus research into features. I wanted a TV I could shut off remotely via home automation so if we're in the kitchen I can say Ok Google Turn off the TV. THat way my kids will be forced to come up stairs for dinner. The picture quality looks amazing in the stores and I ordered from Crutchfield because I've had nothing but stellar service. I saw the TV in a store. It has thge features I want. The last Sony I bought was the last cathode ray TV Sony made. It was a HD TV. It was 14 yrs old. I moved from Long Island to TX. I gave that tv away to someone that needed that tv. It worked perfict. The tv was extreamley heavy. I'm setting up my new entyertainment center. It is time for the best Sonny I can afford. Have had a Sony 50 inch tv for years. Still going strong. This one will be a replacement for the 50 inch. [ Michael  Dec 16, 2017 ]
After a ridiculous amount of research I decided to get this panel. I'm replacing a Panasonic plasma and my budget doesn't allow me to get a OLED screen that costs as much as a Honda Civic. I really considered what we were watching on the screen and I decided the contrast ratio of this unit was sufficient for our use. The next step up was 2x the price. If I won the PowerBall, then I'd have gotten a OLED screen, but since I have to work for my money this will will do. [ Harry  Dec 05, 2017 ]
Mick helped me choose the product that fit my needs, it was his support a professionalism that resulted in my final decision and the reason I choose Crutchfield. [ Justin  Dec 03, 2017 ]

    2 questions already asked

No but Dolby vision is just hype right now. Dolby vision is for 12bit color. HDR10 is 10 bit color. 12 bit color is for tv's that will come out in future years. That's why samsung and sony don't have it. As for the nits, I can barely look at 1000 nits. It's blindingly bright. Lg and vizio have Dolby vision for sales and marketing. They are still 10bit panels [ Stephen  Apr 04, 2018 ]
I don't believe so and it doesn't seem that Sony will. The 2018 model is supposed to. [ Matthew  Apr 04, 2018 ]
It doesn't look like it. Not natively anyway. Sony is supposedly rolling out a firmware upgrade to their A1, XE93, EX94 and ZD9 series TVs which are above the X900 series. Even then there have been roll out problems. Not sure if it will ever get to the X900s [ Bob  Apr 04, 2018 ]
No, not as far as I know I'm 99 percent sure. But I dont see what the big deal with dolby vision is. [ CASEY  Apr 04, 2018 ]
