Built-in Bluetooth® and Pandora® control for Android and Blackberry

Most people only think about hands-free calling when they hear "Bluetooth," but Sony's taking it a step further with their MEX-BT3000P CD receiver. You can access your phonebook, stream music, or control your Pandora® Internet radio stations on your compatible Android or Blackberry phone.

Sony MEX-BT3000P

When a call comes in on your phone, just press a button and talk to callers as if they're sitting next to you. The receiver's built-in microphone picks up your voice, as you hear your caller through your car's speakers. Making a call is easy too, since this receiver will store your phone book info. And when your phone is paired, you can control your Pandora® account from the receiver, without any wires cluttering up your console or dash.

More music options
The MEX-BT3000P plays all your store-bought or home-burned CDs, including discs packed with hours of digital music files. For other sources, plug into the front-panel auxiliary input — handy for connecting a game console or an iPod®. If you want some real radio variety, you can add a satellite radio tuner to enjoy the music, news, talk, and sports you'll find on SiriusXM stations.

Good sound included
Sony builds beefy capacitors into this receiver that help deliver extra-strong bass response, while a special processor limits distortion when you turn up the volume. You'll find a 3-band equalizer with eight preset EQ curves for adjusting the sound. Two pairs of preamp outputs make it easy to connect external amplifiers.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Sony stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Sony, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this stereo for my daughters older Toyota car. The installation took about 2hrs including removing the stock stereo. The set up was very easy we connected it to her android phone with no problems. Music streaming worked great we could change songs or albums with the deck controls. We connected Pandora with no problems. Changing stations or songs works from the deck controls. The thumbs up and thumbs down does not work from the deck at all. Receiving phone calls works good my daughters car is noisy and so it is not practical to talk while driving but she doesn't need to do that anyway.

Pros: Simple installation Quick and easy Bluetooth setup Great Bluetooth controls for music streaming and Pandora Looks Great

Cons: Pandora Thumbs up and down doesn't work

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall I love the bluetooth ability of this stereo. It was easy to set up and everytime I get in my car and turn it on, my phone hooks up. Press play and I'm streaming music/ radio or playing music off my phone. The Pandora feature is suprisingly nice. Also, the call features, being able to access my address book is very nice.

Pros: Bluetooth, pandora, affordable, easy to install in a Ford Ranger.

Cons: Warning alarm when I turn off my car without removing the face unit. I'll never remove the face plate. Wiring didn't hook up to my vehicles dimmer, but unit has a dimmer in the sub menu.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this head unit for my Mother in laws 02 Mitsubishi gallant. I was pretty sure at the time that the speakers were blown in the car but I was very wrong, This new unit really woke up the factory speakers and this unit sounds great. Bluetooth pairing is fairly easy not the best I have used but works pretty good. The Microphone for the Bluetooth is built into the unit and is pretty good, again not the best but pretty good. If you are looking for a good priced unit that has good sound quality this just might be the unit for you.

    Pros: Bluetooth, Sound Quality

After reading the Crutchfield tech review, I have to disagree, with the fact that it doesn't have usb connection. This radio is full function with the Bluetooth and these days that's all you need, if you're not crazy over apple products. ugh!

Pros: Bluetooth audio, phone, can access my phone book. & the aux connection a big plus Couldn't beat the price and all the components needed to make installation a breeze.......

    Cons: None

Great Stereo from a Great Company

MikeH from Seattle, WA on 10/20/2013

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the 4th car stereo I've bought from Crutchfield and I would never consider going anywhere else. It doesn't matter what vehicle I'm shopping for, Crutchfield already has a product that will fit any budget. Sure, there are lots of places to buy a car stereo but you only get totally reliable support from Crutchfield. It doesn't matter what your application is, Crutchfield's installation kit will make the finished product look like factory original. And, if you need it, their tech support will answer any question you can dream up.

Pros: Great installation kit - everything you need in one step Great technical support when you have a question Simple intuitive Bluetooth interface Looks like a factory original Great price

Cons: No cons. This transaction, like all the others I've had with Crutchfield from start to finish was flawless.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was easier than the first stereo I ordered back in 1976 (?) from Crutchfield (you've come a long way!). For the price it is hard to complain. Once you spend the time to read and understand the instructions it exceeds expectations, the remote came in more handy than expected as the preset buttons are quite tiny if you have 10 thumbs like me, let alone trying to see what button you are pressing while driving can be a visual challenge. Read instructions, set it up correctly and you will be a happy camper!

Pros: Bluetooth is the best feature hands down, once I understood the Mic settings I have not had a problems since, more Preset stations settings than I could ever use.

Cons: Preset buttons and labeling smaller than I would like to see but the remote is available to overcome that. Have not been able to down load phone list, but that is not a major issue.

    Very Solid for the money...

Install was a breeze. Very easy, any average DIY'er can install this deck. The install kit and wiring harness fit like gloves. Crutchfield advisor was super helpful. Unboxed the deck, harness and kit and was listening to my iphone over the bluetooth connection less than an hour later. Thanks Crutchfield!!!!

Pros: Could have only been easier if Crutchfield had sent someone to install it themselves. Super happy...........

Cons: Absolutely none. Beginning to end professionals.

I'm very happy with the Sony. I looked at JVC and Alpine, but decided on the Sony due to its features, Pandora, Bluetooth, and preamp outputs. Installation was a breeze with instructions and adapter from Crutchfield. I would recommend this unit to anyone who needs media connectivity at a solid price.

Pros: Price Bluetooth Pandora Front/Rear Preamps Remote Power

Cons: Connection to Pandora app is sometimes glitchy, otherwise, none!

It was very easy to install. Sound quality is good. It's a bit awkward to move from one feature to another, but I'm getting the hang of it. Overall an excellent unit for price. Concern: It refuses to "pair" with my Samsung Galaxy S-2 android phone. Guess I'll call the Crutchfield Tech guys.

Pros: Easy to install, instructions are clear and pics are spot on. Sound is great (for price)

Cons: No USB port. Problem with pairing Bluetooth

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You won't be disappointed with this unit. I can't believe all the features for the money. Build quality is also phenomenal. The controls are fairly easy to get used to. The bluetooth operates extremely well with the built in microphone. The displays are awesome. I really can't think of anything I don't like about this unit, especially for the price.

Pros: Value, features, cool looks, bluetooth quality

Cons: The sound quality is very good but could be better if you are a serious audiophile but it may be my speakers and not the unit itself. I gave it a 4/5 on ease of use but that was due to the Crutchfield instructions not being as clear as they might have been and this necessitated a couple of calls to tech service for clarification but the people on the tech line are GREAT!

BT connection works great, sound is awesome, calls come in and you can put a button on the radio or on the remote to receive the call. seamless and connects evertime.

Pros: bt works with any phone in the car so anyone with bt can connect and play their music. phone connects quick and calls are extremely clear... radio also has great reception

Cons: sometimes the on screen display cannot display what the iPhone is sending or playing but it works better with other phones. not a big deal.

This radio console is a great unit to buy for a DIY project. It's simple to install (especially if you get the free adapter wiring connectors) and use. Matched with new speakers (I bought two Sony speakers for my front doors and two Sound Ordnance kickers for the rear) pumps out great sound. I'm looking to add a sub-woofer to complete the system soon.

Pros: Cheap, Easy to use and install, Simple design, and in-system tuning of sound quality is quick and easy.

Cons: Built-in microphone can be a little weak at times and cause garbled sound for caller on the other end of the line when using BT Phone.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A really great car stereo with modern convenience features that does not break the bank. I love this car stereo. Call feature works and works well. It beats my Plantronics Bluetooth adapter for quality on both ends of the call. I also really like the ability to end the call by hitting the big volume button.

Pros: Bluetooth Connectivity. Value. Call Quality. Sound Quality -- Lots of tweaking options. Lots of preset options for additional Satellite Radio Tuner.

Cons: Dimmer option is not that useful as the Call Button is VERY bright and blows everything else out. Screen is useful but limited. Would prefer an option to keep the time on every display mode. It is fairly easy to wreck your pairing with your phone, would prefer an option to lock the interface.

This is a wonderful stereo. Install went very smooth with all the free install gear from Crutchfield. Sound quality is really good. Had no problems syncing it with my Samsung Note II. Bluetooth works wonderful. No need to use the AUX input (but it's nice to know it's there). Calls are pretty decent. Tuner is good at finding stations, and the RDS display is also a nice feature. Comes with a nice remote that can control the unit. Note this is a 2012 model, and has since been replaced with a newer model with a few upgrades (USB support being the big upgrade).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Bluetooth on this unit is superb. I installed in 1999 Saturn which is not a quiet car, yet the built in microphone picks up the caller's voice with great clarity. I only rated the Ease of Use category a 4 because there are so many features packed into this unit it may be hard for someone not comfortable with the latest electronic gadgets to know where to start. I especially like the link to the phonebook on my IPhone. Scrolling through the phonebook is easy and the letters on the screen are big so make it easy to read. I also like the speed dial feature to set up 6 frequently called numbers that can be dialed by touching a "station" button. I recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Crutchfield makes it so easy to install by providing instructions and the exact kits / adapters needed for anyone's specific vehicle. Crutchfield's instructions on how to remove the old unit eliminates the fear of doing something horribly wrong.

Cons: I didn't have the compression connectors to connect the unit to the wiring harness adapter so I had to wait until the next day (stores were closed) to finish the implementation.

I love this Sony! The only thing is the built-in Pandora Mode only works with an Android/Blackberry (which I read in the fine print after I ordered it) but my iPhone does work fine in Bluetooth Music mode for Pandora or any music app. BT phone works fine too. I had no problems installing it according to the instructions on my Ford Ranger, replaced the OEM which had lost the LCD display some time ago. Recommended!

Pros: Good sound quality. Good price. Easy to install.

Cons: Its built in Pandora App mode doesn't work with the iPhone, but I still can use Pandora from the iPhones controls via the BT Music mode.

FM Sensitivity rating on this unit is not a joke. I'm picking up stations I never knew existed. If you like listening to the radio this will definitely pull in stations you don't normally hear. My Android phone paired and started streaming music, and receiving/making calls without any issues. The controls are a little cumbersome to use when doing anything other than just flipping between radio stations. But over all so far... great unit.

    Pros: FM sensitivity.

Cons: No external mic for the blue tooth. Not the easiest to operate while driving down the road.

Needed to replace my radio in my Audi because the factory one was not working anymore(non-bose), and this worked perfectly except that I had to rewire the back speakers(because of the fact that Audi has two separate amps for the rear speakers) and put aftermarket ones in but it didn't take much to figure that out. I installed it the same day I received it. I love the Bluetooth audio streaming capability. For $110 you can't go wrong with this product, I love it. I will definitely order from Crutchfield for all my car audio needs from now on.

Purchased this radio to replace the one I purchased before from Crutchfield which is still in excellent condition. But I wanted a Bluetooth radio I could stream music to while using my smart phone, well this unit did not disappoint. The sound clarity is phenomenal and even while making and receiving calls, while talking I do not have to scream for the person on the other end to understand me. The unit is great and I highly suggest this unit to anyone looking for bluetooth as a streaming option and wanting phone capabilities so that your not distracted while driving. Excellent buy for the money.

This is a new purchase; there has been insufficient time to evaluate its overall performance. While I enjoy the Bluetooth capability, I have been informed that, to people on the other line, I sound like I'm speaking within a tunnel. I have attempted to adjust the mic gain with minimal effect. The only other 'con' thus far is that the volume control knob is so sensitive I find it being depressed to activate a change in settings when all I wanted to do was adjust the volume. Hopefully, I will find a way around this and move on. As for installation into a '98 Corolla, it went in with no need for adapters; but the plastic ring provided around the faceplate does not fit in the dash opening.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this while it came on sale at Crutchfield. I could clearly see that the Toyota matrix factory receiver was so substandard especially so after listening to my recently BMW Sound. I did run into some installation roadblocks but Crutchfield tech support was pretty patient and at the end the task of replacing the receiver did not seem very daunting. As for the receiver itself it made my factory speakers sound so much better. The buttons are a little too small and not too intuitive. BT audio is also good although it gets confused when both my wife and travel together with 2 iPhones. But we can live with that. The I got too greedy and rushed towards replacing the stock speakers with the Dxi650 hoping the sound is going to get even better. Clearly, the Dxi looks very well made compared to the paper cone stock speakers. Surprisingly enough after replacing one of the stock speakers,, the Polk sounded very muted even after 6 hours of break in time. Nevertheless, this does not change my quality rating of the Sony receiver which still remains at 5 stars.

Pros: Awesome 3D sound compared to stock unit on Toyota matrix Good BT audio including YouTube audio CD audio is superb.

Cons: iPhone BT call audio quality is poor Buttons just too small and not intuitive

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like other reviews, I found the bluetooth phone a little lacking. I've never had another stereo with bluetooth capabilities so I don't have anything to compare it to but people I spoke to said they couldn't hear me. I had to turn the fans completely off and there were problems from there. I heard everyone clear as a bell but that's one issue I'd seen. Another issue I've seen that I'm not sure if it's my phone or not is that the bluetooth audio turned my phone off. I'd listen to about 3 or 4 songs consecutively and I can control what's playing with the deck's controls. Suddenly, the music just stopped playing and my phone was power cycling. I hate my phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) so that may be the entire reason behind it but that was another issue I had. I still need to check out my wife's Incredible II to see if that works any better. I was very impressed that when playing through Bluetooth, the title, artist, and album were present on the display. And, while it played I was able to control what was playing with the next and back buttons. I haven't had any chance to test out the Pandora controls, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how that will be.

Pros: The picky music critics in the backseat can pick their own music with either the remote or an MP3 player plugged into the 3.5mm jack. Best part was finding a bluetooth stereo for around $100 - even if the bluetooth connections are problematic.

Cons: Bluetooth Phone calls not as clear as they should be, bluetooth stereo playback power cycles my phone, limited audio controls, and I own a GM car so it sticks out of the dash. That was obviously known when buying virtually any radio but I had to get used to not being able to see my temperature control as easily as I used to witht he factory deck.

Why didn't I do this earlier?

I have had a 2000 Mercedes C280 for 5 years and the radio w/cassette has always been the weak point for the vehicle. I did some research and decided to give Crutchfield a try when the site showed that I could order this unit with harnesses and shipping for a great price. The strong reviews were compelling and I figured I could do it with some help. I got the unit 2 days after it shipped. I had to solder the Sony and Mercedes harnesses together (about 30 mins) and used the heat shrink wire wrap ($ add-on) to do a pro job on it. I used the radio removal tools to pull the old mercedes radio, put in the bracket, connected the wires and WOW! Less than an hour after I opened the box, the radio was installed and looked professionally done. Synced with my phone and playing Pandora, Google Play, etc. CD's sound great and it works with the Bose amp/speakers that came with the car. I am incredibly pleased. I did call Crutchfield for tech support when there were more wires on the Sony harness than the Mercedes side. Within 5 minutes, I had my answer and was back to soldering . Everything about this was positive and I've got sweet sounds in my ride now! Thanks Crutchfield! Great experience all around!

Pros: Smart phone sync, Pandora, Google Play, Phone calls, Sound, ease of use.

Cons: Lights are a bit bright at night, but small tradeoff for all the positive features.

The bluetooth is the killer feature, allowing me to control music and podcasts from my phone without worrying about a wire, and the bluetooth connects to my phone really easily. Installation was manageable thanks to the fantastic help from Crutchfield. The stereo's not too great for making phone calls since the microphone doesn't pick up my voice very well; the Pandora feature is useless for me; some of the music control buttons double as the radio presets, but only the number labels (1-6) are backlit, so you have to remember which controls map to the buttons or it will be hard to control in the dark. However, for my use, the bluetooth connection more than compensates for all of this. I'm very satisfied, especially at this price. Good value.

Good unit, great value. Personally ran into some issues. Love the bluetooth audio. Very clean sound with no messy wiring. Love it. Also allows you to pause, fast forward etc without messing with your Android phone. I'm admittedly a little disappointed that the Pandora compatibility doesn't seem to work with my phone. (MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX). There isn't any information about this I can find anywhere through Sony, or otherwise. It basically makes the Pandora thumbs up/thumbs down, and Pandora station select non-functional. Pandora over the standard Bluetooth audio connection works great but is missing those features I just listed. If you're buying it solely for the Pandora, then you may want to Google your phone model + the model number of this deck to ensure it'll work for you. Overall, still very happy with this deck

Pros: Easy hook up. Great value. Clean sound. Bluetooth Audio

Cons: Pandora doesn't work on my phone (RAZR MAXX). Buttons a bit hard to read unless you look real close.

I am extremely pleased with the receiver, the FM reception is good on weak stations, and the sound is crystal clear from the unit. I really like the Bluetooth for making phone calls while driving. The advice I got from Crutchfield was very helpful, their advisors were very knowlegible. I also ordered the dash adaptor kit that allowed me to install the unit in my car, and the kit worked perfect. The instructions for installation were a big help, they had good illustrations that made the installation a breeze. Thanks Crutchfield

Pros: Great Sound, Bluetooth for Phone Calls works to perfection, Good Sony Quality, Ease of Operation

This product is great! Worth the price and SUPER easy to install. I had to call Crutchfield 2x with small questions and they answered them 1,2,3 which was great because I was in the middle of installing it. This product is great I though it would be a hassle with all of its features but I am loving it.

Pros: Easy to use! There are a lot of cool features one of my favorite is having many different title displays. I can view the song / album / artist. It even shows the song on the radio, which I'm sure most people have had the pleasure to have but for me it was super exciting because I like to know what song is on the radio when I don't have the chance to use Shazam while driving. I like the blue led light it's not too bright or too dim. It was also easy to sync my phone to the radio.which is a plus.

Cons: My radio tuner signal did go down a bit but I think it could just be my car though...

I have had this unit in my car for about a week and a half to this point. There is still more to learn about what it is able to do. It's not difficult to learn how to use at all. The only problem I have with it is the bluetooth system. It is very difficult for someone to hear me on the other end when the car is moving. If I am sitting at a stop light, the other party can hear me fine. It sounds pretty good through the Sony Xplod speakers.

Pros: Simple to install using Crutchfield's master sheet. Price. Sound.

Cons: Bluetooth system not being heard from other party well at all.

This is a very good radio, and the bluetooth works well with my Android phone. Some callers complain a bit about background noise and echo when I'm driving at highway speeds. (The Honda Fit that this is in has a fair bit of road noise at highway speed.)

Good Unit. I replaced the OEM unit in my 1999 E320 and I am quite pleased. Made a decision to keep the MB (nothing goes wrong with it and I take good care of it), so I replaced the Stereo only. Sound quality is great, even with the old speakers and the Bluetooth feature for phone and Pandora is great. Not missing the phone headset set all. Have been a Crutchfield customer since the late 70's and will be for life. Custer Service/Assistance/Installation Help is great too. Nice to speak to someone on the phone who has a command of the english language. March on Crutchfield!

If you are hesitant about buying and installing yourself, don't be. Granted I put this in a 2003 Hyundai Elantra, which isn't the most difficult car to put one of these in I'm sure, the install went pretty smooth. I have NEVER put a stereo in and I had to call tech support 3 times. That being said I called them to make certain I was correct before moving on to the next step so I wouldn't have to undo a step. Tech support never let the phone ring more than TWICE no lie. And the guys who answer are American, not outsourced to India, so you can understand them. The ONLY issue I had was with Pandora. I have the unit paired to my Motorola Photon (and this may be a specific issue with the photon) and in order for Pandora to work I had to uninstall Pandora on my phone and reinstall it, after that it was spot on. For the money you will not be disappointed, I would absolutely recommend the unit and Crutchfield to friends.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a headunit that could integrate with my android smartphone as the DAC on it was often better than the ones on some headunits. Essentially I was looking for just a aux jack to be able to play my music. But then I found this headunit, one of the very few headunits with Android pandora integration. Having a built in mic for bluetooth calling along with a faceplate that doesnt look gaudy (in my own personal opinion) made it stand out above the rest. CD's sound excellent, Bluetooth A2DP streaming sounds good (not great however, but thats mostly limited by the a2dp standard itself), and AUX sounds as good as what you plug into it. There is no ipod support, so you will want to look elsewhere for that functionality. It does what I want, and wasnt too expensive, and the pandora control is great if you listen to alot of streamed music.

Pros: Minimalist interface, sleek design, good pricepoint, built in bluetooth mic so you can handsfree on the road.

Cons: It doesnt have an ipod interface, but I didnt want one to begin with, so yeah.

    Excellent, great features, amazing pricepoint!

This radio is phenomenal for the price. I installed it in about 20 minutes, the biggest fight was getting the stock radio out of the dash. The sound quality was excellent on radio / CD / Bluetooth. The radio paired easily with my HTC Sensation and worked immediately to stream audio from Spotify and make voice calls. The call quality is great and the built in mic picked up my voice easily. While testing, the person on the other end of the line said I sounded clear and loud.

    Pros: Bluetooth, Aux-in

    Cons: Lack of USB in.

Great litte radio for the price. It doesn't look all that great and the display has a lot to be desired (like a clock in bluetooth mode) but everything else on the radio is great. Plays music off my phone through BT and allows for Pandora control. Good handsfree use as well, I saw complaints about the handsfree sound when I bought the system but my calls have all sounded great. Got the radio plus install kit and wiring harnesses delivered to my house in 2 days for this price - can't beat that!

Pros: BT Audio from Phone, Pandora Control, BT Handsfree Phone Use. Amazing Value.

When I first powered-up my Sony MEX-BT3000P I was amazed ! The sound was like I was right in amidst the instruments ! I could distinctly pick out different sounds coming from each of the four speakers, and in all the cars I've owned in nearly half a century, some with other Crutchfield gear installed, I've NEVER had sound like this before ! I was almost giddy over it. Fantastic ! The quality of the sound and the separation is terrific. This applies to the tuner and the CD in which I've played factory CD's, home-burned audio CD's and MP3 loaded CD's . Excellent all around.

Pros: The unit has a laundry list of features but they're simple to learn and operate ... I had it down in one day, and I'm an 'old fogey.' Installation with all the Crutchfield gear was child's play and the unit has in and outputs to expand it for even better sound down the road with a woofer.

Cons: Cons? I didn't encounter a single one.

This is my second Sony MEX-XXXX car stereo. Loved the first, got a new car and had to buy another. This model has some nice features the other didn't. The reason I got this model was the Bluetooth feature. It accesses your smartphone to get your contacts, music and Pandora app. I noticed today that when I wanted to speak a text message the stereo paused for as long as I was talking to compose the message. No more stray words or turning down the sound. Just great features! One problem I had with this install as well as the last was there was no instruction on how to connect the dimmer switch to the stereo. Luckily, this new model has a dimmer feature. Will buy the Sony MEX for every new car.

Pros: Phone book, Pandora controls are wicked cool! Installation was easy, thanks Crutchfield.

Cons: Not much...except the dimmer controls.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A great value. Bluetooth works extremely well with iPhone, stronger connection that in my new luxury car for example. While the Sony instructions were okay, I suggest Sony put a sticker on the protective metal case reminding the installer to remove it. It is somewhat difficult to make the connection between the instructions and the wrap-around metal piece mentioned in the instructions, which needs to be removed. This metal case appears to be part of the unit rather than serving as a temporary protective function. Minor but, in my view, such a sticker would help move the process along more quickly.

Pros: Unbelievable value. Great Bluetooth implementation. Built-in microphone for using mobile phone via bluetooth rather than an external mic required by some units (may need to shut off heater/air conditioner fan while using it with phone depending on the proximity of air ducts).

Cons: Given its cost, none. Otherwise, a multi-line, higher resolution display would be nice.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This HU is an excellent value. The features included are great for the price. It also has an integrated bluetooth microphone, so there is no need to route and locate an external microphone like many bluetooth units require. Quality of sound is as expected for an aftermarket unit, the power is ample, and an improvement over the factory unit in my Accord. The bluetooth quality is very good, although I have had some complaints when there is a lot of road noise. In my install the unit is located rather low in the dash near the shifter, so I am sure this contributes to the bluetooth quality issues in my vehicle. If the unit is located higher in the dash (closer to your face in a natural driving position) I would expect the call clarity would be better. Some of the functions are counter intuitive in some modes (i.e. Pandora), but once learned are reasonably easy to use. I also added the Metra Axxess steering wheel control and the unit interacts flawlessly. The Pandora interface works perfectly with my Android phone and I couldn't be happier with the function. It does have an annoying security warning and beeps every time you turn off the car if you do not remove the face. This can be disabled, but the instructions to do so are not easily located in the manual. All in all I am really enjoying this unit and the bluetooth interface for Pandora, music streaming, and telephone has really increased the enjoyment of my commute.

Pros: Price, Bluetooth interface, integrated microphone

Cons: counter intuitive controls, Security Warning

I LOVE this stereo! It is worlds away from the crappy POS stock radio that came with the car. I LOVE the bluetooth. I can receive calls on my phone SO easy, and the best part is using the Pandora through bluetooth. I listen to that ALL the time now. I'm no audio expert or anything, but I know what works, and what works awesome! It was so easy to install too. The install kit fit absolutely PERFECT. Awesome Crutchfield!!!

Pros: Everything! Especially the bluetooth functionality.

Cons: Only a couple small things: 1. There were 2 "blue" wires that could have been for the power antenna that weren't marked as that. I had to call the support line and they just told me to hook them both up - which worked. Should be marked. 2. No up/down arrow button to go from one memory preset station to the next instead of actually pushing the 6 different memory presets individually. None on the remote control either. None that I can see anyway. Maybe I should look closer.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a little disapointed that this stereo didn't have a USB port. This oversight was my fault. I was busy looking for something with Bluetooth that I forgot to check on the USB port. It was a gift for my wife & I didn't want to spend much. It seems like a good stereo for the price so far. I have had a couple of people say that they have problems hearing us talk while using the hands free option, but I have had others say that they heard us fine. I like that each of the different sources (tuner, bluetooth, aux) can be set to different volumes. I found that the hands free gets set really high, while the tuner & blue tooth music is more around the expected range. Crutchfield was get to bundle the stereo with an install kit. It made life easier. They included install instructions. Even though I didn't need them, this is a sign of a company that cares about their customers.

Pros: Inexpensive stereo with blue tooth music & hands free. Allows for different volume settings on the different source options.

Cons: No USB port, if the stereo has blue tooth I would think that it would have USB. Mic is not the greatest. Some people have problems hearing us, rain hitting the car seemed to create a lot of static for the person on the other end. Adjusting the mic settings has to be done while using the hands free option, bad idea when the point of this is not to play with the stereo while driving. It would be nice if I could turn off the Pandora source since it is not used.

Night and day difference in sound between my stock HU. Bluetooth connectivity works great with my ancient HTC Hero, there is a slight learning curve with the controls but that's expected with pretty much any head unit. I like the sleek black look with my black interior. I guess the only con is that it doesn't have a USB port, but who really needs it when you can connect everything wirelessly? I just charge my phone on my car charger and put it in the shelf under the HU and everything just works. I was looking at other HU's with the same features for substantially more until I stumbled upon this gem.

Ordered this unit for a replacement to a factory radio in a 2005 Crossfire SRT-6 - it was a perfect fit! Very easy to install with the included harness and the kit even came with the tools needed to remove the factory unit. I have seen some reviews about wanting to turn off the DEMO mode - that is actually very easy and one of the first instructions in the book. The Bluetooth paired quickly with my Droid X and even uploaded my phone book so now all calls can be made and received without having to touch my phone. The Bluetooth music streaming works very well also. I have also seen a post that says after you take a call via Bluetooth, you have to hit the source button to get back what you were listening to. The unit actually has a "back" button right next to the volume control that sends you back to the previous setting - really not an issue. My only suggestion would be to NOT use the RCA outputs to your speakers. I found that I had to have the volume set on 45 (out of 50) to hear the music when driving with the windows down. When I hooked the speakers to the regular wires, the volume improved greatly. Now I can set the volume to 15 and it is plenty loud with plenty of more power to go!

Pros: Great sound quality. Integrated Bluetooth. Easy installation. Almost everything you need to do a complete install.

Cons: Not much to write here. Just make sure you have some wire splices and electrical tape - everything else is provided :-)

Awesome value for the price - and excellent support from Crutchfield. When I couldn't figure out how to end a BlueTooth call (my phone had locked up during the call), the Crutchfield support team stepped me through the debugging process in no time at all.

Easily the most bang for your buck, and it's PACKED with features

neo1973 from Vancovuer, WA on 4/17/2012

For what you pay for a standard single DIN stereo, you can't beat this one. Getting bluetooth Phone and Audio in one package was a must for me and my wife, but me especially due to the amount of time I'm on the road. Being able to control Pandora from the deck is a really nice feature as well. Lots of bells and whistle on this one.

Pros: BT Phone with tons of features (voice dial, phonebook w/ speed dial), BT Audio, BT Pandora, easy to install, not to bright at night, pretty good sound for being a non-amplified stock speaker set up

Cons: Menu's are a little clunky until you learn them, non of the preset EQ's seem to really hit the mark for me, but you can make a custom EQ preset

    Great unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product; clear sound, controls ok [once you sit with the Manual for an hour or so], bright display [but wish brightness could be reduced at night, like the OEM unit].

Pros: Great sound, fit right in dash, quality build, theft protection.

Cons: Controls take some learning [not like the DuMont radio I had], can't reduce brightness of face at night; and how do I get rid of the ads that run on the face?

    Works great...

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this mostly for the Bluetooth connectivity with DroidX. To be honest the Bluetooth features leave a bit to be desired. Information from the phone seems to be lacking for the "Bluetooth audio mode", the Pandora connection is a little better but still clunky to get initiated. I'm thinking this is a limitation of both the unit and the phone, my wife's Iphone4 seems to work better with the unit. The "Bluetooth phone" mode is less than spectacular, while the unit connects and I can hear the person on the other end of the line, they often cannot hear me. This seems to be a problem with the microphone in the unit. People on the other end of the line have mentioned quite a bit of road noise and while my mini isn't exactly quite using the auxiliary input on the unit and the phones built in speakerphone mic is considerably better.

Pros: Nice unit with some good features

Cons: Poor Bluetooth connectivity, on-board mic not good for phone calls.

I was a little nervous purchasing this receiver without any reviews, But I ended up ordering it since it was exactly what I was looking for. I got it today, and I was able to install it in my truck within about half an hour - very, very easy installation. Expectations were generally exceeded. It works (and looks) great and I am very happy with it. HIGHLY recommend. It was b/n this and a similar JVC. Only 3 drawbacks. Keep in mind, that I am a very detailed person, so for me to only have 3 major complaints means that this is an outstanding product. The first and biggest issue for me is the fact that the receiver does not have a dimmer wire on the harness. While there is a "dimmer" setting, it must be manually activated/deavtivated, and even still, it only controls the screen brightness (not the buttons). It can be hard to read the screen during the day with the dimmer on, and the display and all the buttons are very bright at night w/ it off. It's not a HUGE deal, but it is a bit of a hassle. Another drawback is the bluetooth phone function is a separate "source". Its easy to answer a call and get to the phone menu, but it stops the music and you have to scroll back to the source you were on previously in order to resume playback. The only other drawback is the order of the display views. You have to hit "DISP" while you're on the song title like 4 times to view the clock, then 2 times to get back to the title. No big deal, but again, a little cumbersome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Pros: Display (Bright, very easy to read); buttons (logical placement); good size; easy to use interface (simple); very good sound quality; very easy to install; bluetooth phone and audio work flawlessly (connects automatically, very quickly); good looking; radio has good quality; amazing deal for the price; Very good build quality; detachable face; call quality seems great so far; easy navigation; pandora feature is cool (I rarely listen to pandora, but still a cool feature).

A simple, easy-to-use CD receiver with Bluetooth

Written by Ken Nail, Staff Writer - Creative, on 5/2/2012 11:13:00 AM

Sony's MEX-BT3000P CD receiver isn't going to turn heads with the number of features it has. In fact, it's about as minimalist as you can get these days. For example, there's no USB input for thumb drives or iPod® control, and the display sports only a single line of text, with no options for changing the color.

But if you want Bluetooth® for hands-free calling and audio streaming and you're not worried about bells and whistles, it may be just what you want. The Bluetooth interface is easy to use and even supports Pandora® Internet radio streamed from Android and Blackberry devices. And I found the audio controls very intuitive. Couple that with a front aux input and you've got a receiver that covers the needs of many people.

For me it's both it may depend on your input but it shouldn't matter. Because if the volume on the device is way higher than the receiver or vice versa you can hear distortion. Andit it also comes with a remote. [ DERRY  Jan 24, 2014 ]
If my memory serves me correctly, you could adjust the volume with either the knob or the input device [ BRANDON J  Jan 24, 2014 ]
