Is your system sounding a little anemic? D-Bass bumps up the bass response in two levels so you can pinpoint the right amount of thump. 12-second Advanced Electronic Shock Protection makes skipping a thing of the past.

The FM modulator (that converts the CD audio into FM) is built into the chassis so there's one less thing to install. A wireless remote is included.

Antenna adapters might be required — if you haven't already done so, please enter your vehicle information (click on "What Fits My Car?" above) and we'll include them free with your order (if needed).

I purchased this for my wife's 94 Z-28. I could not be happier with the sound. Even with the factory Bose sound system, the sound quality has improved. The installation instructions made it so easy. I could not be happier with the customer service at Crutchfield either.

Great Value / Works Well

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in my 05 suby wagon since there is no simple way to integrate IPOD (thqat's good) etc or use aftermarket head in the suby if you have electronic A/C controls and this is a nice work around so I can still cram lots of music in w/MP3 cd's - I havn't gotten through the first CD yet :-) The Suby doesn't have a lot of room for the install so I ended up installing under the rear floor mat (there is some form fitted foam above the spare and both accessory power and constant power sources near that area. Nice and clean and stealth :-P Sound is pretty good - since it's wired inline to the exisitng antenna there is no static at all- about the best sound you will get from a modulated source.

I like the feature that you can shuffle the whole changer. On cross-country driving that would be a blessing.

With caveats

Great unit - fit in where the old one was with very little difficulty. No issues with skipping. Whether it was due to poor installation or poor quality on the adhesive strip, the dashboard display fell off after 6 hours. The adhesive seems capable of sticking everything else together as it was a mess cleaning the display and dashboard of its residue. I used 3M double sided tape to resolve the issue. My biggest gripe about the unit is the remote control. The buttons cannot be seen at night. It would be great if it were "back-lit". The disc changes are a little slow, whether on shuffle or playing sequentially and the display does not indicate the track titles, etc.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install as Crutchfield sends the necessary interface compatibility of antenna parts for the vehicle model. Connecting to the fuse panel was a little work because the vehicle uses the miniature fuse panel. Auto parts stores sells an attachment that will fit into the fuse location with the ability to piggy back the fuse removed and plug into the top of the "dual" fuse block just inserted. Really a nice arrangement and it still keeps the integrity of the fuse removed. No soldering required. After installation, and using the existing Bose speakers, the sound was great! Also no problems with the operation of the unit. The dash mounted controller is a nice feature.

Purchased as a gift. Gave as gift after 30 days. When professional installer set it up, the unit would not power up. Since the purchase was over 30 days old, now I have to deal with Sony and pay shipping to ship it back to them for repair. This unit was a REFURB. Would not do this again. Would buy new if not at all. Would definitely NOT BUY A SONY. This is no reflection of Crutchfield. They have ween wonderful helping out and their support is excellent.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The ease of installition and it's ability to play MP3s of this changer are second only to it's ruggedness and sound quality. The changer resides under the rear seat of my 2001 Dodge 4X4 and we have been ably to enjoy our kind of music in even the roughest terains. I go offroad almost daily from September through April and so far this changer has yet to skip. Excellent product.

1998 Ford Taurus
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchase was easy, fast, delivery was fast, instructions were clear, equipment worked great! The only snag I ran into was that my 98 Ford Taurus doesn't really have color-coded wires and so we had to test every single wire to get power to the unit. We still aren't sure which wire is the always-on wire.
The only downfalls of this product are that because it's FM modulated, the sound isn't perfectly clear. This isn't noticeable on most systems, however, unless you turn the volume up to max. Also, the ability to shuffle the entire changer is nice, but the disc switching is rather slow, as is the track switching on any other shuffle setting. I love that it has an output setting (from 1 to 5) so if your system is quiet you can give it an extra boost. However when I turned it up to 5, the sound distorted, so I just kept it on the default 3. Controls on both the wired and wireless remotes are intuitive and easy, the discs never skip, although every once in a while on my MP3 discs, the sound will cut out for a split second - probably due to high-speed recording or scratches. I recommend you record your MP3 discs at the lowest speed possible to ensure data consistency.

Overall, a very good product if you want to be able to listen to 10 different MP3-CDs without changing them out! That's practically 10 full days of music! As far as price vs. value goes, I'd rather have this in my car than an iPod, that's for sure!

great product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like this CD changer. I've never had one before, and it's very convenient. I have a 60-mile commute, and listen to a lot of audiobooks from the libray and also sermons from my church. Anyway, the quality of the product is outstanding. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and have not had a single problem with it. One thing that would be nice is to have buttons for next/previous CD on the wired remote. Of course this can be done with the wireless remote but it would be a bonus. Nice product!

??? Questionably not a good choice

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield did an excellent job with my order but i wasn,t happy at all with the Sony CD player. Installation was a snap but even with all the adjusting i could do the background noise was to much for me. I can't say that i'd recommend this product to anyone if you've got an ear for music. I like my music and enjoy listening to good clear reception even from my radio but what would seem like a good purchase was a real dissapointment for me.

Great Unit, Price, & Performance

Samir from San Jose, CA on 4/10/2005

I got this unit for a Acura Legend (1994) as an add-on to the existing Bose factory stereo. The unit installs really quickly - the large amount of time will be spent routing the cables and figuring out the connections. The down side of the install is that the add-on makes getting a harness-type connection more difficult.
The unit works great. Never skipped in over one year of use, an okay user interface, and the remote makes it quick and easy to work the unit while driving. Provides playback for MP3, and CD-RW as well over and above standard CDs.
It is highly recommended as an add-on. The price makes it a compelling choice when you consider that the factory units are about $100 more.
Compatibility Note

Built-In FM Modulator: For increased installation flexibility, the FM modulator has been integrated into the CD changer.

Transmitting Frequencies: The modulator has 9 FM transmitting frequencies. You can select the following transmitting frequencies from the wired remote/display: 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 89.1, 89.3, 89.5, 89.7, or 89.9MHz.

D-Bass with Auto Level Adjust: D-bass uses a sharper curve than standard loudness controls to give you more bass without interfering with mids and highs. Besides "D-bass off", there is D-bass 1, and 2, each of which gives you progressively more bass. As the volume level is increased, the D-bass level is automatically reduced to ensure the bass boost doesn't overpower your speakers at high volumes.

Shuffle Play: There are three shuffle play modes: "SHUF-DISC" mode plays all tracks on the current disc in random order. "SHUF-CHGR" mode plays all the discs in random order. "SHUF-ALBM" mode plays all tracks on the current album (MP3 file) in random order.

Repeat Play: There are three repeat modes: "REP-TRACK" mode repeats the current track. "REP-DISC" mode repeats the current disc. "REP-ALBM" mode repeats the current album (MP3 folder).

Adjustable Output Level: The output level can be changed to match the FM level and can be set to one of 5 levels.

Last Position Memory: If the unit is shut off while a CD is playing, the next time the unit is turned on, playback will resume from the point where it left off.

Mounting: This unit may be installed vertically, horizontally, or at an angle between 0 and 90 degrees.

MP3 Playback: This unit can play constant and variable bit rate MP3 files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo in the expansion format or in Multi Session. During MP3 playback, the following functions are available:

 • Folder up/down
 • File up/down
 • File audible search
 • Direct Album Search: using the supplied remote control, you can directly access discs
 • Direct File Selection: using the supplied remote control, you can directly access files

 • Folder Repeat Play: repeats the current folder
