A great lens for portraits!
Sony Alpha SEL50F18F FE 50mm f/1.8 - Shown mounted on Sony Alpha a7II mirrorless camera (not included)
Item # 158E50F18F | MFR # SEL50F18F
Sony's FE 50mm f/1.8 lens is an affordable way to break into the world of prime lenses. Its wide maximum aperture makes it great for shooting in low-light situations — at twilight, indoors without flash, or on a busy street at night. Since this lens is adept at gathering light, you'll be able to use faster shutter speeds and lower ISO settings to minimize image blur and noise, even in dim lighting. A wider aperture also allows for dreamy blurred background effects while your subject remains sharply focused.
The lens' 50mm focal length is perfect for capturing natural-looking scenes with a perspective that matches the human eye. Use it for street photography, landscapes, and close-ups. It's a great walk-around lens for just about any situation. On APS-C sensor cameras, this versatile lens has an equivalent focal length of 75mm. This medium telephoto length is perfect for capturing expressive portraits and detail shots. Weighing in at less than half a pound, it's an ideal, low-profile travel lens with boundless potential for stunning captures anywhere, any time.

A great lens for portraits!
Bill man with terrible until I updated the firmware on my camera and I was shocked it work flawlessly and made very little annoyed the tracking or the auto focus on it is amazing. I took it out shot if you portrayed it is absolutely great I even shot at night a little bit just to test it out and it worked perfect. And for the price you can't beat that. It's so light compact, it's easy to carry around. I would totally recommend it if you need it for a quick portrait lens without having to spend all that money. And Crutchfield is amazing to buy from. And I never get on to make reviews but I decided I was going to be this.
Pros: Light weight, price, autofocus, clarity.
Cons: No, buy it.
Optics: The Sony FE 50mm F1.8 (SEL50F18F) standard prime lens is compatible with the Sony α interchangeable lens cameras with the E-mount. It is designed for use with full-frame cameras, but it can be used on cameras with APS-C image sensors. (The lens has a 75mm equivalent focal length when used on APS-C cameras.) The lens is recommended for portraits and general photography, with a wide range of applications. The 7-blade circular aperture delivers beautiful background bokeh. The FE 50mm F1.8 comes with the ALC-SH146 lens hood, and front and rear lens caps.
Note: This lens cannot be used on a camera with the Sony A-mount.
Focusing: The lens can be used in the auto-focus, direct manual focus, or manual focus modes. You can switch between focusing modes in the camera menu. In Direct Manual focus, you can fine-tune the focus by turning the focusing ring after initially auto-focusing. Manual focusing is performed with the focusing ring as well.
Lens Hood: The lens comes with the bayonet-type ALC-SH146 lens hood to prevent stray light from entering the lens causing lens flare. When installed, the lens hood adds about 1-1/8" to the overall length of the lens. When shooting with flash, you should remove the lens hood to prevent shadows at the bottom of the picture.
