Do your ears a favor and replace your car's dull-sounding factory speakers with Sony's GT Series speakers. They play your music with clarity and punch to liven up your morning commute or help you relax on your way home.

Built from high-quality materials, the GT1625A 6-1/2" speakers beef up your sound system while adding reliability to the playlist. Sony builds the woofers from an extremely rigid and strong polymer film, so they'll dish out impressive low-frequency response. Durable cloth surrounds hold up well in the tough car environment. The balanced-dome tweeters present the high frequencies in crisp detail so your music will sound full of life.

Sony includes stylish grilles for custom installations. Install a pair of GT1625A speakers, and rediscover how much fun it is to listen to music in your car.

Not Bad For the Price

1997 Chevrolet Cavalier
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these guys to replace my factory speakers that had blown on my '97 Cavalier. I have an after-market Sony H/U, so I bought these assuming they would work well with its 17 x 4 RMS output. Overall, they were an improvement over stock. The highs were quite good and the mids were strong. After a week or so of use during my brief commutes, the low end seemed to become a bit more pronounced, so perhaps they broke in a bit. The install was quite easy, and they have a tweeter that is flush with the woofer surround which makes installing behind stock grills a snap. However, I felt I could probably find better sounding speakers, so I returned these and have been looking at more sensitive (and unfortunately more expensive) speakers (I really don't want to run an amp). These are great for the price, probably even better if you're pushing more power through them than I was. They hands-down beat the pants of stock!

Cons:

affordable alt. to factory speakers

Jared from new jersey on 11/2/2008

i have these in the doors of my Gmc Sonoma. when they were powered by the stock strereo, they sounded decent. pretty punchy bass and some mids and highs. i have a Pioneer strereo now and a sub so i cut most of the bass out of these. even with the stock stereo i had to rely on the Infinitys in the dash for the higher frequencies. so to sum it up, if you want a better-than-stock stereo, i would replace all the old speakers with these and power them with a good aftermarket stereo. if you plan on adding a sub for the bass, i would purchase a speaker thats meant for mids and highs....like Infinitys....as these Sonys start to get a little muddy when played loudly with the bass cut. still a decent speaker though.

Pros:

Cons:

Pretty good mids/highs, a little light on the bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I blew all four of my 6.75's in my 2k Durango, and replaced them with these. Pretty good, but the stock 6.75 infinities had quite a bit more bass. But overall these sound better through the midrange and top end than the infinities. I'll probably wind up getting a sub to put a lot of the bottom end back in. Yes, you can add it back in with the EQ, but pretty soon you reach the limit of travel on these with regards to cone movement, so a sub is really the only way to go.

These things are terrible. Dont waste your money. The highs are okay, mids and low suck and they just all together sound terrible. Spend the extra 30 and get polk audio's you will be alot happier. I would never recommend any sony car equipment to anyone. Please dont waste your time and money like i did.

2008 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these to replace the factory speakers in an 08 Tacoma. This was one of the few applications that Crutchfield listed as a fit for the rear doors (outside of components, which make no sense). I knew that they were not high quality speakers, but expected much more than they delivered. When I took them out of the box, I was surprised at how shallow and light they were. These are basically shallow mount speakers (which give less low end output), but it doesn't say that anywhere in the website description. The sound that they put out is really not much better than the factory speakers. There is hardly any bass, and it's just not a full sound you would expect from aftermarket speakers. The highs are just ok, a bit better than the factory speaker, but leaves much to be desired. Overall, I have buyers remorse on these ones. Now I'm putting my faith in the JL's I bought for the front doors.

I Purchased two pairs of these. My 1999 dodge durango which has the stock infinity system in it had four blown speakers. I replaced all four speakers in about 2 hours. Each Infinity had stock housings that had to be drilled to accomodate the sony's. They sound awesome for the money. The stock infinity's were 2 ohm and the sonys are 4ohm so I may have sacrificed to DB's but it was worth it. They have good bass because I kept the stock enclosures. I can run these at full volume with NO distortion.. Good buy

1997 Honda Del Sol
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the 4 blown original factory speakers on a 97 del sol and the sound quality is pretty good but is lacking bass and unfortunately I like the car to remain stock looking so I don't have too many options, so these will do. The instructions were great and I almost purchased these locally but when all was set and done with the fast shipping, great installation instructions and the free Honda connector, I came out ahead. I had all 4 speakers installed in about a 1/2 hour.

94 Accord Factory Speaker Replacements

Ralph from South Korea on 9/16/2008

These speakers were purchased to replace the one that had come with the car when we purchased it new in 1994. I am not a stereo system expert so I will not get into the technicality of sound and so on. I am just a regular stereo user. For me the speakers are fine. The sound as good as if not better than the factory ones. The installation was easy and the Crutchfield instructions made it even easier.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You can never expect much from 6.5's ...so with that said ... these speakers are O.K. better then alot of other 6.5 speakers. if you can go bigger like 6.9 but if stuck like me then go with these ... they replace my son's rear deack on his 1990 Accord with 68.000 orig. miles . He has the Sony 320 deck .. These speakers were so much better then the originals it's not funny ... but still a little short on the base... Now we have to replace the front door speakers because the sony way over power the door speakers... Install directions were great deliv great When he gets next check he will order a second pair .. hay for the money ?

Cons:

For the price, you cannot beat them.

Steve from Montrose, Co. on 4/28/2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed 4 of these in my Honda Civic and they sound great. I have used Infinity, Kicker and Pioneer speakers in the past and I can honestly say these sound as good as my Inifnity Reference series if not better. The lows are adequate, but seriously, if you want nice tight punchy base -- invest in subs. I gave these a 5/5 due to their price to performance.

2005 Chevrolet Colorado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these to replace the factory front door speakers in my 2005 Chevy Colorado pickup. Delivery time was extremely quick, as I ordered on Sunday and received them on Tuesday, a full day ahead of UPS tracking projections. Installation took less than an hour, thanks to the installation manual provided by Crutchfield, and no metal cutting or bending was needed. Sound from the speakers is now crystal clear. But, as mentioned in other reviews, there is a definite lack of bass response when compared to the factory speakers. This is not a fault of the Sony speaker, but due to mounting the speakers directly into the truck doors, which are not even remotely efficient as bass enclosures. So if you're bass-happy, plan on getting a sub-woofer. I'm happy with the speakers and very impressed with Crutchfield's service.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellect replacements for the Factory Speakers which are made of paper, and souded OK, but they kliked to blow their paper cones. I got tired of paying the Dealer almost 200$ to replace a single speaker every 2 or 3 years. The originals had paper cones which just seemed to shred. These are much cleaner and punchier. They are great at delivering for their size, and the obviously superior construction looks to give years of service, rather than 18-24 months. PS: The installation accessories included made this a snap - as did the super instructions. The instructions really are second to none.

Good speaker for the money!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the front speakers on my '02 Accord. They went in very easily with only a slight modification....a little bit(1/8") of the inner part of the factory speaker cups needed to be trimmed so that the speaker wire connectors would slip onto the speaker tabs.. but that's it. The directions for my car said the back of the speaker cups need to have the whole back cut out...they do not, and were the perfect depth. Other than that, the Crutchfield directions were perfect! The sound is much better than the stock speakers, which were "paper cone" Pioneers in my case. These are a great alternative to the factory speakers...for a very good price.

I mated these with a Sony CDGTX-310 head unit and similar sony 5.25 front speakers. The whole thing is a huge upgrade from the factory system. I bought all Sony with head and 4 speakers. These fit perfectly and the Crutchfield suppplied wiring jumpers made the wiring idiot proof.<BR>Hard to beat for the money - my daughter is still smiling.
