Watching your budget doesn't mean that you need to settle for less. Sony's CDX-GT260MP CD receiver brings solid performance and excellent sound quality to your car at an attractive price.

A sonic stepup
The receiver's built-in amplifier delivers plenty of power with deep, realistic soundstaging and excellent stereo separation. Sony's EQ3 Stage 2 gives you plenty of sound-shaping options — you can choose from 8 preset equalizer curves, or adjust the lows, mids, and highs to match your own taste. If you're using a subwoofer, you can adjust its volume with the Sony's controls, and you can even trim out some of the low frequencies from your full-range speakers so they'll play louder and cleaner.

Take your digital music on the road
You can plug your iPod® into the front-panel auxiliary input, and it's perfect for Dock & Play satellite radios and other devices too. You're not limited to store-bought CDs with the '260. A disc loaded with MP3 or WMA files will play for hours, so you'll be able to keep the music going strong on the longest road trips.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Sony stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Sony, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

I was somewhat worried with this being the cheapest that sony makes, but after i got it installed it works really great. the only downside is that the "equalizer" settings are not clear and they arent explained in the manual. so you just have to pick whatever sounds good.

    Pros: Looks cool, auxiliary output

    Cons: equalizer

This radio was perfect for upgrading my OEM Honda Stereo that was 13 years old to newer technology. The song readout on the screen is my favorite feature. Sound is great as has plenty of power for my stock speakers.

Pros: Great Price for what you get!!

Cons: Need to read the manual to figure all the features out.

Upon receipt of the radio and components, I realized that I was either too stupid or lacked the determination to install the radio myself so I called an installer and had Justin install it for me. Bottom line the radio is working and installed by a professional and I am very pleased and thankful to Crutchfield. By the way, while the instillation of the radio was taking place, I perused the radio's at the electronics retailer and Crutchfield prices were much better.

Nice radio. Remote not as expected.. you have to practically point the remote and almost 12" away from the radio for it to work...won't work from back seat. if that is the case, why even have it? Radio is great sounding and easy to connect. However, after it is in, I wish I would have bought the more epensive 360 with bluetooth and USB... but that's me, not the product. Thanks to Crutchfield (Josh) for his help. I was a novice at radio installation until I did this.. now I feel I'm... well.. I least I am not afraid to try. Thanks!!

Pros: Great sound. Crutchfield support top notch, great value for the features.

    Cons: remote control about worthless.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this unit to replace the stock stereo on my 1999 Corolla (which would go into "autoscan" mode without explanation). Crutchfield sales helped me compare this model with another competing model that was the same price. The unit arrived two days after ordering. It was a scratch and dent special, but I saw no scratches or dents. Hooking up all the wires is a bit of a pain. The Crutchfield Master Sheet was quite helpful for my car model. Crutchfield support was very helpful with a couple of questions and even added some tips that were not in the instruction sheet. The unit slit right in with no adjustments needed, though getting all the wires out of the way took some maneuvering. Once it was hooked in, it worked great and the sound was a definite improvement over the old one. It also has an RDS feature to tell you what the station is. Hint: If there are panel lights that you need to remove the radio to replace, you might as well replace them while you are doing this job.

Pros: Awesome sound, RDS feature, good contrast in the display. Not bad for $70, including radio, wiring harness, tax, and shipping.

Cons: Small buttons, requires a bit of a learning curve to understand all its features. I am not sure how I would use the remote (and I think it would be a good idea to keep it away from the kids).

    Wished it worked!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, spent the day taking the dash apart, did the wiring prior to the project which was a definite plus, it gives you time to review the set up and do the "crimp" of the wires. Had the dash apart, plugged in the adapter, tested all the wires just to make sure that each one had power to it, (hey give me a break, this was my first installation), plugged the adapter into the radio and nothing, dead! You've got to be kidding! I called tech support, which was great, went through the same trouble shooting with them that I already did, pulled fuses, tested wires, etc. The technician decided that the issue was the head unit, well isn't that special. They are shipping me another one out however had to put the old radio back in, put the dash together to know that in a few days, I would once again be pulling it apart, again. I emailed "Bill Crutchfield" and got the standard response, we are very sorry, you are a valued customer line. If I'm so valuable how about a credit back to my account for the time I've wasted. You know there are definite positives about going to a local big box store, purchasing it and having them install. If the unit is faulty, at least all they have to do is go into the back room and get another. You would never even know. I've learned a valuable lesson, I will never do this again. Yes the radio is cheap but I do expect it to work.

    Cons: Didnt Work

Great Receiver for a Great Price

A-Team from Pearland, TX on 9/12/2012

    2001 Toyota Camry
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although I am fairly handy around the house, I was apprehensive about doing wiring on my car. I took a chance and bought this receiver. Everything that I ordered arrived in one piece, including the MasterSheet and wire harness adapters which were absolutely essential. Getting my broken factory receiver out was surprisingly easy. Splicing together the wire harness adapters by far took the most time. Some of the wires were so small I had to very carefully use a pocket knife to strip the insulation because my wire stripping tool kept cutting the actual wires. Once I completed that, installing the new radio in my car was easy. And although I was expecting the worst, every speaker fired up the first time and it sounded GREAT! I will also mention that I called tech support twice for silly questions. In two rings, both times, I was talking to an actual person...not a menu of options...but a person with real knowledge of my product. And I was talking to an AMERICAN, or at least it was an Indian with a flawless American accent. Either way, I was happy.

Pros: Great sound quality on AM/FM and CD. I haven't tried the aux but I will at some point. Very reasonable price. Not too difficult to install, but if it is your first time, allow for a few hours.

Cons: The channel buttons are much smaller than on my 2001 Toyota Camry factory radio. Quite a few of the reviews I read mentioned this. Unless you got REALLY fat fingers, it shouldn't be a problem and you will quickly get used to it. I did.

Replaced factory stereo and I love it. For the price, it's much better than expected. I have never installed a car stereo before, but with the instructions included, and 2 quick calls to the Tech Team, I got it done and perfect the first time through. If you want to upgrade your old stereo to a nice looking, easy to use, and awesome sounding system that's easy to use, buy this! And on top of the value, the support is top notch! In fact, I'm deciding on new speakers to replace the paper ones that are in there now. And they'll be purchased right here from Crutchfield!

Pros: Price, lightning shipping, great product with all the features I want, and unmatched support. This stereo is very nice, even if it were much higher in price.

Cons: I didn't come here and buy this sooner.

This radio was purchased to replace an earlier version, that the tuner went out on, in a used vehicle that I bought. The replacement was fairly simple, just remove the old radio and stick the new one in (same connectors, just plug and play. The radio has very good sound quality. The buttons are a little small, but they are all on the driver;s side and fairly easy to get to. Pretty good product for a fairly cheap price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just wanted a cheap unit to put in my old Ranger that was compatible with my iPod. So far I'm pretty impressed by this Sony offering. I got the factory stereo out and this unit in in about 30 minutes. It took longer to set the clock and dial in the EQ than it did to complete the install. This unit has much better bass than the JVC HD50 in my Subaru which I attribute to the loudness feature of the Sony. I like the RDS feature and find it to be a better option than the HD radio gimmick in my JVC. I'm now thinking of changing out the JVC unit in my Subaru for a more feature rich Sony. My wife wants me to put one in her car now too.

Pros: Nice features for the price

    Cons: None yet.

Works just fine for a very inexpensive unit. There are far more features than I would have expected and that is taking me a bit longer to learn - but I do like the unit.

    Pros: attractive case, nothing outlandish

    Cons: none to speak of

Great deck for little money. "Back in the day" this deck would be in the 400.00+ range. Incredible how better tech is so cheap now.

Value Upgrade Over Factory Car Stereo

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good vaue replacement stereo over any factory-installed car stereo. Crutchfield delivered a nice package with all products inside as promised! RDS display with broad selection of preset EQ's and nice sounding CD player! Attractive and good sound for this price range with good FM sensitivity. Easy to use remote is good to use when playing CD's and changing tracks. Minor annoyance is that the RDS display for artist/song is limited in text for a one-line display and the digital clock which is there when the radio is off disappears when the tuner is on. The detachable face plate is also somewhat big and hard to align to snap back into place so I just leave it on at all times! For a stereo in this price range, though, would purchase again!

Pros: Attractive, clear sounding radio with good FM sensitivity and equalizer settings.

Cons: 1. Awkward detachable faceplate is better left in place. 2. Clock setting disappers when tuner is on and RDS is used.

I am very pleased with the quality of the stereo, the prompt and courteious service I recieved from the representative at Crutchfield, and the price of the unit. The accessories I needed to have the stereo installed in my car that I ordered from the company and were shipped along with the stereo worked perfectly.

Pros: Quality stereo, better than fair price, free shipping, courteous staff.

    Cons: None.

good for the money, plenty loud with no distortion- plays fine over bumpy NM dirt roads- no skips

Pros: shows time when playing cd

Cons: too many functions on volumn switch needs separate knob so one can control volumn and not go into the menu phase, really annoying and why I gave it only 3 stars

    Great for the price!

The Sony CDX-GT260MP is a very good unit for the price. It plays mp3 cd's and functions well. The sound quality is good and the options are adequate. I bought it to replace a factory installed stereo and it has not disappointed me at all. Great price...nice unit!

Pros: Good quality- I like the additional removeable faceplate feature- 3 beeps when the car is turned off. The reminder is just what is needed.

Cons: the release button for the faceplate is a bit small.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow, easy install. This unit has all of the options that you would expect in a higher priced unit. The sound and stereo separation is great. Having the option to add an amplifier and subwoofer is also a plus. The controls are pretty straight forward and easy to set up. All in all, I would say this is the unit for someone not wanting to spend a lot of dollars and still get excellent quality, design and features.

Pros: Easy to setup. 3 EQ modes with LPF and HPF adjustments as well as a configurable Sub-Woofer interface.

Cons: 1 color buttons, (RED) Would be better if Blue was an option.

    Overall good experience.

Pros: Great product for the price. The speakers are a major upgrade compared to the factory GM speakers they replaced. IPod connectivity is easy to use. The 7 band EQ is also a plus given the price. Delivery within 3 days around Christmas to top it all off.

Cons: The wrong speaker harnesses were sent.
