Our take on the Sony CDX-GT360MP

Do you want more variety in your music and radio programming when you're on the road? Sony's CDX-GT360MP CD receiver offers a big step-up in sound quality over most factory radios, along with an input for your portable player and the option of adding a satellite radio tuner.

Do you want more variety in your music and radio programming when you're on the road? Sony's CDX-GT360MP CD receiver offers a big step-up in sound quality over most factory radios, along with an input for your portable player and the option of adding a satellite radio tuner.

Get rolling with superior sound
Sony's designed this receiver to deliver impressive performance in your car, with a clean preamp section and plenty of real-world power. You'll enjoy new clarity in the mids and highs with plenty of bass punch. You'll also appreciate the EQ3 3-band equalizer and its eight preset sound curves if you like tweaking the sound.

Great radio — from outer space
Imagine driving hundreds of miles without losing your favorite radio station. Satellite radio offers a mind-boggling variety of programming with coast-to-coast reception. You can enjoy it all by subscribing to SiriusXM, then connecting their tuner directly to the receiver's dedicated connection on the rear panel — no need for any confusing adapters.

Digital music on the go
Even if you're not running out to the shop to buy CDs, you can appreciate the '360's MP3 and WMA disc playback. You can fill up a couple of discs with music files and have enough tunes for epic road trips. And you can also plug your MP3 player into the handy aux input on the front panel.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Sony stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Sony, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

    Great Stereo!

1994jgclaredo from Baltimore, MD on 4/9/2014

A few years ago I was looking for a replacement for the factory radio in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was on its way out. This was offered for a good price, and fit well into the dash of my Jeep. Controls are easy to adjust from the road (my Jeep doesn't have steering wheel controls for the radio), and it has a remote control, which I don't use. Love the removable faceplace as well. Even has SIRIUS satellite radio capabilities, though I'm never going to add the service. Sadly, they stopped making this radio, but comparable Sony units are still available. Also, the 52-watt, 4-channel amplifier powers four speakers well. Love this stereo! (:

Pros: SIRIUS ready, Great sound, Great A/M-F/M radio reception, Remote control included, Beeps to remind me to remove the faceplate prior to getting out of my Jeep, Fits well into Jeep Grand Cherokee dashboard.

Cons: Looking back, I wish I would have gotten a unit with Bluetooth and USB/iPod input, but I'm happy.

Great Stereo for the Budget-Conscious (:

    94zjowner from MD on 4/1/2013

I purchased the CDX-GT360MP in order to install it into my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It replaced a factory A/M-F/M-Cassette stereo that was on its way out. I've had this stereo installed in my Jeep for a little over a year, and couldn't be happier. The Sony unit was easy to install, and fit well into my Jeep's factory dash with the aftermarket installation kit and wiring harnesses. The dashboard lighting in my Jeep is green, and the light blue and white lighting on the Sony unit matches that well. The faceplate is removable for when I'm not driving my Jeep, and it even beeps when I turn the Jeep off to remind me to remove the faceplate. The CD player is great, and it will play MP3 files, though I don't regularly listen to MP3s via a disc (only on my iPod and Android phone). The unit, however, will display text from a CD with CD-Text capabilities, and will display what's playing on an FM radio station, when that information is provided. The unit also has great audio adjustments and preset EQ settings, though I haven't had time to play around with that too much. The auxiliary input jack on the front of the unit allows me to plug in my iPod or Android phone, whatever I feel like plugging into it. The settings are easy to adjust from the road, even though my Jeep is older so it doesn't have steering wheel-mounted buttons to remotely control the radio. SIRIUS capabilities are nice, though I don't use that feature. A nice unit (:

Pros: SIRIUS Add-On Capabilities, Hi-Power Amplifier, Preset EQ Settings, Great CD Player, Aux Input Jack, Removable Faceplate, RDS (:

    Cons: Didn't Come w/ a Faceplate Case :(

Great Receiver for a Factory Replacement!

ZJ Owner from MD on 2/15/2013

I needed a new radio for my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee for two reasons: 1.) The factory unit was on its way out and 2.) I wanted a CD player. I was looking for something relatively low-priced that was made by a well-known manufacturer and that would produce good sound. I found this unit for a good price. It was easy to install into my Jeep, and it maintains a factory-like look with the dash kit installed. The receiver installed fairly easily, despite some wiring difficulties. This was my first car stereo installation I've ever done, and I think I did a pretty good job installing this one. The sound adjustment settings are way better than my factory radio's, the built-in amplification is awesome, and this receiver has SIRIUS-XM capabilities, though I don't plan on purchasing the add-on kit, since I don't really need satellite radio in my Jeep. Plus, the faceplate is removable for when I'm not driving my Jeep, though I wish the receiver included a case for the faceplate (that has to be purchased separately). All in all, a great purchase! (:

Pros: Great sound, great add-on capabilities, great features, a high-power built-in amplifier

Cons: None that I can think of, though the purchase didn't include a case for the faceplate

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted something to play my CD's when my stock radio CD player just stopped working one day. This Sony fit the bill. I had it installed (I'm not handy at all) and I was surprised at the most excellent clear, loud sound quality that came through my stock speakers. It reinforced to me I had made the right choice radio-wise.

Pros: Easy to use. Has a nice little, handy remote. Barely had to read the manual to figure out how everything works (clock setting, radio settings). Nice price for what you get. Good Sony brand name.

Cons: Nothing in my price range was green (interior lights in my car) so I had to go with this blue back light color. It is a pretty bright blue. Not distracting but I wish it was a bit dimmer.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ordered the radio and various adaptors needed for the install in my 97 chevy pickup. Everything came as ordered and in a timely manner. Read through the install instructions and did have to call the service department about the wiring. Took about two minutes and the technician i spoke with answered my questions. I had noticed folks talked about how easy the install would be... so I started a stopwatch when I began the install. It only took 64 minutes to remove the old radio, wire the harness and install the new unit. System sounds like brand new! (or a heck of a lot better!) Really like the unit. Pretty easy to operate, love the presets. Only issue i had was when i was driving after dark the EQ button is very bright and non dimmable. Really shined in my eyes. Wasn't a problem as when i returned home i took the faceplate off the radio and simply used a blue sharpie to mask the button. When the radio is on, the button still lights up... it's just not as bright.

Pros: Great service. Everything came as ordered. Tech that talked me through the purchase was helpful, troubleshooter rocked, radio was a simple install and sounds great!

Cons: Just the extremely bright EQ button. fixed it with a sharpie.

Best Radio for People on a Budget!

    94jeepzj from MD on 6/2/2012

Purchased this radio to install in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had only a cassette player from the factory (which didn't even work!). This fit nicely into my Jeep's dash, and the faceplate is removable for a sense of security when you are not in your vehicle. I paired this up with two aftermarket pairs of speakers to complete the sound system in my Jeep. And if I wanted I could add SIRIUS to it. The audio settings are plentiful and the Radio Data System (RDS) lets me know what's playing on the radio. Despite owing this radio for almost three months now, I have not had any time to try out the CD player, but the aux input and radio work excellently. I was on a budget and did not want to spend much, and this radio was the best one for me. I'm taking this radio over to my next vehicle whenever I buy another vehicle.

Pros: Great sound, Great features, Great looks, Great add-on capabilities

Cons: None, though I wish it did have a USB/iPod port in order to read files directly off of my iPod, Droid, and iPhone. This is not enough to lower the rating, though.

    Great cd receiver!

    Great Radio!

94zj318 from Baltimore, MD on 5/5/2012

I own a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it came stock with an A/M-F/M radio and tape deck. I wanted a CD player, and didn't want to spend too much money on one. This Sony unit worked perfectly. Fit well in my Jeep's dash, and sounds better than the old radio did. It has SIRIUS radio capabilities, but I'm not going to add it on. I do like the Radio Data System (RDS), as well as an aux port to play my iPod, Droid, or iPhone. Plus, I can remove the faceplate when I'm not in my Jeep for a feeling of security. If you're looking for a good radio but don't want to spend much, look no further, as this is the radio you want.

Pros: Looks great, Radio Data System (RDS), Has an aux port, Great radio reception, Ability to add SIRIUS Radio, Multi-format CD player, Good factory radio replacement, Great sound

Cons: I wish it had a USB port to charge my iPod, Droid, or iPhone while it's playing. Other than that, there's no cons about this unit!
