Powerful sound

Sony built the CDX-GT570UP CD receiver around the same Digital Reality amp you'll find in their higher-priced car stereos. This unique amp design delivers surprising power combined with an accurate, deep soundstage so music sounds more natural inside your vehicle.

If you're a sonic tweaker, you'll have plenty of options. Sony includes a 7-band equalizer, digital time correction for sharp and precise stereo imaging, and DM+, which improves the sound of your compressed music. You can also activate the Rear Bass Enhancer which sends only low frequencies to your rear speakers, improving your bass and pulling the soundstage forward.

Sony CDX-GT570UP

Plenty of options

With that great sound comes plenty of ways to enjoy your music. In addition to a CD player with MP3 and WMA playback, the CDX-GT570UP comes equipped with front-panel auxiliary and USB inputs. You can plug in your iPod® or iPhone® to the USB port and enjoy control from the receiver, with nifty search tools like Quick Browzer and ZAPPIN that let you scan and find music quickly.

And if you're a Pandora® Internet radio fan, you can plug in your iPhone then browse stations or rate songs from the receiver's controls. You can add SiriusXM's compact tuner, and experience the impressive programming and coast-to-coast reception that makes satellite radio so popular.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

This is good radio for the $, installing was fairly simple, however I found the use of the radio especially using my iPod nano a little confusing. I don't care for the chirps the radio makes when turning off the power but it's still beats the stock radio.

Used this in my 93 jssp wrangler. So far it's pretty good. The fit was very tight in terms of depth but other than that instalation was pretty easy. I do wish the turn wheel on the front was a little firmer and that. It is very easy to accidently press it while adjusting the volume witch can be annoying.

Pros: Good Stereo for the price. Looks nice.

Cons: The volume turn wheel could be better.

It's Sony - they're known for decent customer electronics. I am non-plussed by the menu and navigation to change settings in the radio. Most radios these days can push the big round button to turn it off - Sony must have forgotten about that...as I have to push the "source" button for more than 1-2 secs to turn it off. Also there are 3 beeps that sound off when the car is shut off. Crutchfield technical help line told me how to bypass - and we successfully turned off. Now it's back - most likely user error - but why have this alarm or whatever it is for that radio - it's less than $100 - not really a theft target. That's why I rated a two.

    Pros: Price, Value, Sound Quality

    Cons: Ease of Use...

DrF from South Park, PA on 6/7/2016

    2000 Toyota RAV4
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The receiver works well but there are too many menus to dive in and they are not the same for every sound source, even if the manual claims otherwise occasionally. I only use the FM radio and the USB port. I have a 32GB tiny stick in the there, black color to match the faceplate. You would hardly think it's a separate item when you first look at it. Reception is pretty good, sound quality and stage can be adjusted according to taste. No sub in my car, I hate low frequencies. But if you have one this receiver will work with it, thru an amplifier of course. The blue lights stay on all the time, I don't like that. Only the engine switch turns them off. The brightness is not automatically adjusted. You have to do it manually, unless you travel only in the morning or only in the night. It is very bright in the night, so dimming is required in my opinion. The faceplate is removable but it takes some effort to take it out. It can break if too much force is applied, and it does look that it should be applied sometimes. If you leave it on all the time (as I do) then it's not a problem. Not as heavy as the older Sony it replaced. Good value for the money though.

Pros: Good value for money, good sound quality.

Cons: Too many menus sometimes, blue lights are on even if the receiver is off.

Gregg from Central, NY on 4/28/2016

    2006 Jeep Liberty
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I guess I expected the radio to sound as good or better than the original equipment Jeep, but it doesn't. After playing with the settings, which are right between easy and difficult to locate and set, it sounds 'good'. I suppose it has a little different sound, which might be my angst, but it is decent enough. The additional inputs (Aux & USB) are a huge bonus and a (working) CD that handles MP3's as well as the standards is awesome. I like the looks of the unit, was able to dim the display, FM has 3 x 6 (18) station settings (not 3 like some claim) [plus 2 x 6 AM for what they're worth] and an oddly named array of EQ presets. Using the Crutchfield supplied adapter ring, antenna adapter and Jeep (Dodge) wiring block made the installation perfect. I pre soldered (and heat shrinked) the adapter to the radio leads prior to installation, to make total install time about 30 minutes. Add an hour for the programming (which looks more like a journey than a destination) and it's a pretty cool rig.

Pros: Many updated features over the OE radio and looks a little better too

Cons: Not quite as great sounding as I had anticipated and difficult to change sound functions while driving.

    A Mediocre Offering From Sony

JerryP from Philadelphia, PA on 4/21/2016

    2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A mediocre offering from Sony, with thin sound lacking in "oomph". The CD player skips easily and profusely when riding over pot holes. Making adjustments is clumsy, utilizing the volume knob. The USB connection doesn't support lossless file formats such as .wav or .flac, so you're stuck with crappy .mp3. You'll also have to format that USB stick in ancient FAT32, because Sony didn't bother to keep up with modern formats like exFAT.

Pros: Cheap. Easy to hook up.

Cons: Thin sound. Clumsy interface. Lack of support for modern digital formats.

Nice deck that is fairly easy to use and has a good look to it. Works well with the installation kit provided with it. Has that factory installation look.

Pros: Good options. 7 preset equalizer options to choose from or create your own custom sound. Display is bright (can be dimmed, if desired). Not too difficult to figure out all the settings and options. Pretty good for the money spent. The included installation kit and wiring harness adapter made installation a breeze.

Cons: Fade and balance are a bit tedious to get too through the options menu. A second dial or specific buttons would have been nice.

My old stereo was missing the right side channels completely. This one really fills the truck with sound. The pandora feature is clear as can be through my iPhone. Even at loud volumes. The kids love the remote control feature.

Pros: Clear pandora or my music from the phone.

Cons: Great sound, but not as clear with the FM tuner. I think it's a lack of clarity of the signal, not the radio's ability to perform.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price - awesome! It covers all the basics I needed. The integrated iPod/iPhone controls aren't anything special, but it's still nice to use them without much difficulty. Thanks to Crutchfield's efforts (installation guides, wire harness kits, etc.) installation is incredibly easy.

Pros: Affordable. Great upgrade form factory unit.

Cons: If you're the type who likes to tweak your sound (or any settings) regularly, menu navigation takes a bit of time and isn't incredibly intuitive - depending on what you need to do. If you're more the "set it and forget it" type, you're good to go!

Installed in a 98 Jeep Cherokee. Sounds good, picks up radio pretty well, plays MP3 CD's without issue and USB works. Made a very annoying sound when the vehicle is turned off with face plate on, eventually I got it turned off but was more difficult than it should have been since it was in a somewhat hidden menu. You have to turn the unit off and then push the menu button for a few seconds and then scroll through and find the caut alrm and turn it off. Overall i'm happy with the sound and function.

This is actually a pretty good radio despite being one of the cheaper ones from Sony. It does everything I wanted, scrolls song ID, front aux input, USB, dimmer for nighttime driving. I still play CD's but also listen to internet radio, especially NPR. The install was unusual and I had to wait for the correct adaptor because the factory radio turned out to be a different one from what we thought. This Explorer has a mach system in it but you don't know that until you remove the radio from the dash since it is isn't written on the face of the radio or the speakers or the dash.

Pros: I would buy it again. The problems were taken care of by customer support and I'm a happy camper.

Cons: It would have been nice to get it right just by inistalling the supplied parts and not having to call tech support but they were a lot of help and really the install wasn't that big a deal.

I just purchased the CDX-570UP. The price was so reasonable, I couldn't believe the features it has. The sound quality is just mindblowing. I'm using it in conjunction with a Clarion XM 1410, 4 channel Amplifier. The Amp is driving 4 Infinity Reference 8632 cf, speakers.

Pros: The features that is has, including Custom EQ settings, Time Alignment, Variable Hi Low Pass filters, A very sensitive FM tuner...All that for under $ 70.00.

Cons: The only fault I've found, is that the Mode/ Volume control, feels really thin, and light.

Decent entry level stereo with good overall versatility. The buttons have a cheap feel, which is common with most of today's head units, unfortunately. I treat all my equipment well, so like other sony decks I've had in the past, I expect it to last years.

Pros: 2 sets rca outs (2v) subwoofer section with crossover, slope, phase, and sound position USB with easy to navigate folder buttons Excellent antenna sensitivity-pulls a station on nearly every single frequency (ex-107.1, 107.3, 107.5) listening position adjustment Turning beep and exit vehicle beep off option nice illumination. Clear and easy to read in the daytime.

Cons: Main volume knob is easily pushed in while adjusting volume, entering menu mode. So sometimes when youre in a hurry to turn it up or down, you enter menu mode, which holds the volume until you escape out of menu mode with the back button. Then you can turn it up or down. Can be distracting and annoying for the new user. The 7 band eq doesnt quite hit the sweet spot for me. The mids never seem quite right. All the sound presets (xplod, vocal, rock, etc) I find unusable,

Installed as part of a full factory replacement on a 2014 Nissan Sentra. Sound quality and volume are good and it has all the features I would ever need. The menu is not that difficult to navigate but it takes some "practice" to remember were are the settings you are looking for. As allways the installation kit made things easier, faster and gave that "original equipment" look.

Pros: Nice sound and set of features for the money.

Cons: Not really a con, but the installation didn,t look to me as good as those I did in the past because I had a Single-DIN unit on a Double-Din opening. So I replaced it with the Kenwood DPX300U which now looks at home and gained me some extra features.

This receiver is a great value. I was looking for a SiriusXM ready receiver. This one has all the bells and whistles with front and rear AUX inputs, Pandora, a top-notch CD reader (it reads everything), and subwoofer inputs. Great plug and play capabilities make this a great receiver. The one downside is the menu for navigation. I've seen similar problems with other Sony products. The menu is almost too detailed. You'll have to go through an extensive sound shaping process to balance the sound appropriately if you have custom speakers and subwoofers. You'd probably be best off buying crossovers to control the sound because the menu has too many options and one slight adjustment can completely change the sound.

Pros: Great options for the price. Easy plug and play for devices.

Cons: It's easy to get lost in menu land.

Bought to replace an Alpine whose Sirius module went South and which I found difficult to operate. It was a a straightforward swap, but in process it appeared to give me better sound quality than the touted Alpine unit, plus it was infinitely easier to operate. Bonus is the understated illumination, a marked contrast to the multi colored Alpine.

Pros: Much easier to operate, more 'dignified', stops on the volume/control knob prevent inadvertent changes. Better sound quality through same speaks.

Cons: Probably not the best unit for a real audiophile due to its simplicity and fewer adjustments available. Perfect unit for me for Sirius and iPod. Would rather have the USB port on the rear than front of unit.

I installed this unit in my Daughters 1996 Rodeo as an upgrade to the factory unit. Even with the original speakers the sound was a big upgrade. The installation was a breeze wit the included Master sheets. The look, fit, and build of the Sony was very impressive at this price point. Having a front USB port and Aux audio port make connecting your device a snap. The tuner locks in on stations very well with more presets than radio stations you will ever listen to. If you are looking for a budget friendly unit with lot's of features and great sound. This Sony will not disappoint.

Pros: Looks good. Won't break the bank. Tons of features with great sound. Solid build with room for expansion.

Cons: The control are not the most intuitive. Some older people might be intimidated by the controls. The manual will come in handy while learning all the features.

An absolutely fantastic system for the low price.... it has many more features than I need or will ever use; it will do everything I want and more. My only dislike of this system is that is don't find it user friendly to operate, but given some time to use it, all should be fine. With all the wiring schematics, harnesses and adapters provided, the installation was extremely easy. I was a bit aggravated to have to go to the auto parts store for crimp connectors being they was the only thing missing to complete the installation.... would be nice if, when ordering, the sales assistant would mention needing such connectors and that Crutchfield offers same. Otherwise, from sales to technical support, Crutchfield has been outstanding!!

I also picked it for 17w rms which was higher than the other cea compliant units. The iPod controls are a little quirky. It wants to auto shuffle even though shuffle is off. Great fm reception and sound quality. Wish the menus were simpler, but that's sony for you. I prefer Alpine but can't beat the features and price of this unit!

I bought this to replace an older Sony aftermarket model which has been discontinued. All I needed was AM/FM radio, CD, USB and Aux in, and I didn't want to spend a lot, so this like a good solution. It has similar controls to the previous model I had, so I was somewhat familiar with how everything works, but it still can be frustrating at times if you need to do anything buried deep in the menus. Small buttons and multi-use buttons don't help, but I knew what I was getting into, so I can't really complain. Haven't used the Pandora feature yet and probably won't, but i guess it's a nice addition to have. I had hoped the rear connection for the wiring harness would be the same as my older unit's but it wasn't (I called Crutchfield before ordering and was told it should be the same), so I had to re-wire the harness. Not a huge deal, but it slowed the swap-out process a bit.

Pros: A lot of features for the money. Sony name is a plus.

Cons: Deep menus because of the number of features, and small buttons.

It has been more than 20 years since I have removed a factory radio and replaced with aftermarket. I have paid big box stores to do it several times assuming it was too complicated these days. But with my son's 'new' truck, I knew I wanted a Sony radio and couldn't find one in stock in our area before Christmas. I made my first purchase from Crutchfield and it was the best decision! The radio itself is great. Sound quality you would expect from Sony, great volume, great tones and bluetooth or usb connections for his ipod. But my overwhelming take away is how Crutchfield made SURE the radio and speakers would fit his vehicle, provided detailed instructions AND all the tools needed for us to DIY. So VERY impressed!!! And it was easy with some intermediate level skills (wiring splice for adapter etc). My son is thrilled and so am I. Thank you Crutchfield! You have certainly earned a new customer!

This is an amazing unit and I would be happy with it if I paid a lot more. If it fits your needs (AUX, USB for Apple, Pandora, CD, and Tuner), you will love it. It does not have some of the higher end bells and whistles (Bluetooth etc.), but I was happy to pay for the unit at a much lower price point. Installation on my Toyota Sequoia, was so simple given the installation kit, instructions and phone support. I would recommend calling the phone support initially, to go over some of the very simple wiring instructions. Additional tip: if you are lucking enough to get Jenny on the chat line or Allen on the installation support line, you could not be in better hands!!!

Pros: Value and sound quality are its biggest pros. I does what it is supposed to do at does it at a high level!! Installation was simple, with the help of the installation instruction included and the phone support available.

Cons: Only con is that the numbers and letters on the unit are a touch small, although that is more of a personal problem as my kids and wife see the buttons quite well. Might need a new lens prescription. No other "cons".

For the money, this unit has it all. Hardest part of installing was the removal of the old factory unit. The removal tools were worthless at grabbing spring loaded snaps and I ended up ripping the old one out. The new mounting bracket worked slick. I liked the simple treble and bass buttons of my old one. It was easy to turn from booming bass to more treble for conversational radio. The new one has more steps to get it right. Love the new USB and auxiliary ports! Never had a Sony car stereo, and overall I really do like it

Pros: all of the above mentioned

Cons: a BIG one is the remote. You need to be right in front of the unit for it to work. Sitting in the drivers or passengers seat and pointing doesn't do it. I thought I had a bad battery. More safe to just push buttons on the unit than to be reaching over.

This is a great deck. Install was quick and straight forward and I purchased it at a very affordable price. Comes with all the nice extra stuff that you don't have to use if you don't want to. Setup is easy as well. I really like the option to adjust the subwoofer volume. You can easily adjust it on the head unit rather than having to mess with your amp.

Pros: built well Multi level adjustments Extras incl.

This is a great value. The features are many more than I expected and the installation process was relatively painless. The Sony name and the reliability of the product go without saying, but the end product is way beyond my expectation. The Crutchfield team promised an easy installation, and it was easy. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a value-oriented product with a lot of quality features. I am totally satisfied.

Excellent sound quality. Sound can be very finely tuned in the cabin of your vehicle although it took some time reading the manual to figure out how. Sony has thrown in lots of bells and whistles which I don't know that I'll ever use but I'm still happy for the functionality I do use for the price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

this is a solid unit I am still trying to master all the funtions, really like the rear speakers as a suibwoofer feature'It is much much better than factory unit [97 chevy s 10] I put a pair or 6x9 speakers in cabinets behind the seat and kept a pair of coax 4x6 in the dash that were there allready I am happy with it at this point but to get more bass I will place a sub amp at a later date

Pros: very inexpensive Mastersheet is the bomb I am old school [all connections solderd fluxed and shrink tubed] the quality of sound and seperation was worlds better than what I had [factory cassette] The flashing display is not distacting like 75% of new head units to me it is nice to have both wiring bundles so I can sit at workbench and do wiring

Cons: I wished that this unit prodeced more bass....but for under 100 dollars what do you want , there is not much room under the dash in this truck but if you are not in a hurry you can get it done

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I selected this unit based on two factors "price and XM compatible". Thanks to Crutchfields excellent instructions and accessories, that all went very smooth. I had read several reviews other people had posted and there weren't any real problems with the unit. I've read the instructions very completely and found the set up was vey easy to follow. Intuitive I think you call it. .My only complaint is the sound quality from the FM portion. All channels selected seem to be too bright with no base tone. I've tried selecting different equalizer settings. I've tried every option or combination of them, to make the FM receiver sound more mellow. A CD sounds good on playback. The old head unit sounded much better on FM than this unit. I'm considering reinstalling the old unit and returning this unit.

Pros: Good price, XM compatible. Easy set up and install.

Cons: Poor sound quality from receiver on FM. All stations are strong and local.

It's a good head unit but its a little tricky to figure out. The sound it puts out is great and the iPod USB works pretty good. It's a pain to search for stuff on it so I would recommend reading the book lol. Or maybe I'm just not to good at figuring it out. Any ways it's worth the money and is a really good head unit for the price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The FM tuner is top notch, as the Crutchfield rep. said it would be. I have favorite stations that are weak in my area, and there are powerful stations a few channels away. Interference and weak signals has been an issue with my old receiver. The second great feature is the USB flash drive MP3 playing capability. No moving parts and no skipping on bumpy roads. I don't anticipate using the CD much, as USB is so practical. I don't require kilowatt power amps, so I am happy with the power output. There was one feature I could not get to come up. I am using one of the rear outputs to drive a sub. It is supposed to have a feature that provides LPF for subs, and I could not find it.

Pros: Tuner sensitivity and selectivity and interference rejection is tops. USB control is excellent.

Cons: Wading through the menus to use the LPF for rear speakers - I could not find it.

I like the 7-band equalizer on such an inexpensive unit. I haven't had a chance to try out the bass enhancement on the rear speakers yet ( I still have to route the wires for rear speakers in my pickup), but I'm looking forward to that.

Pros: Remote control is nice. Volume control is not too sensitive, so it is easy to adjust even if the road is a little bumpy.

Cons: Lettering on the controls is a bit small; I'll have to memorize what's what, because they can't be seen while driving. I had hoped (and had been led to believe) that a thumb drive with files down two or three folders in a tree structure would be searchable somehow on the display, but they aren't. So much for organizing the material on such a device.

The tech advisor recommended the Sony radio with an XM converter. I couldn't be happier. Ease of use and installation and it sounds like a much more expensive unit. Great price on a good deck and all the installation goodies are thrown in for free as usual with CF and that's why I keep coming back[ Bret  Apr 28, 2016 ]
I bought this radio a few months ago for my truck. I wanted an inexpensive upgrade. The functions and sound quality with the factory speakers surprised me. Now my wife drives this veh all the time and she leaves her iPod plugged in full time. Works great with her iPhone also. Now I am ordering 2 to put in our RV, one up front and one in the back (it's a 36 footer). The tuner is the only weak link. Low signal sensitivity and the sound quality is not as good as other inputs. Weird, but noticeable.[ Don  Apr 28, 2016 ]
Price and just replacing a unit that was stolen from vehicle to have some music to listen to on the way home and from work[ Brian  Apr 23, 2016 ]
This unit was on sale and â??scratch & dentâ?? priced to boot. After considering my other choice, having an HD tuner at $30 more, I decided this had enough features with front Aux, USB & MP3. I live 10 minutes from work, so how much time to I have for another feature.(?) An MP3 will last me at least a week.[ Gregg  Apr 15, 2016 ]

I like Sony Items. This one will be nice as I can use a thumb drive and have all 10GB+ music at my disposal. I have an older Sony Ipod compatible car stereo in my shed connected to four older car speakers and an 8" sub. I expect this stereo to perform a similar function installed in my toolbox at work.[ Jeremy  Mar 17, 2016 ]

i picked this item for my sister's car. she really is not the music buff as i am so i wanted something that was right the point as far as functionality goes. this item in my taste and in her needs pretty much fit the bill. my sister wanted something that plays CDs and didnt want to mod her car to hook up a amp and with this item she is able to add a sub and get good sound because of the Subwoofer Direct Connection. i am sure she will love this. i think it is a great pick.[ kemo  Mar 04, 2016 ]

If I understand you correctly, it does come with one. I'm not 100 percent sure what a bezel is but if you mean the aluminum sleeve that anchors to the car where the unit slides & locks into it then yes it does have this. Let me know if this is not what you're talking about & I'll be happy to clarify. Hope this helps, it's a good unit for the money if you can live without Bluetooth[ TODD  Feb 14, 2016 ]
It comes with the small bezel you see. That's all I needed. However, if you have a larger opening they have a retro kit you can buy. It's sized to fit perfectly in older installations. RHF[ ROBERT  Feb 13, 2016 ]

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your plug from the other receiver. The chances here are likely pretty slim though, as the pin-outs on the harnesses often change between model years (and sometimes between models in the same year).[ Jeff  Dec 14, 2015 ]  Staff

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Sony has this capability but only by using a single, rear speaker output. there aren't many subs that can be used, since the power output of the head unit is relatively low. I'd recommend something like the JL Audio here-http://www.crutchfield.com/g_520/Component-Subwoofers.html?tp=111#?nvpair=FFSize|[rank12]5-1%2F4%22&avf=NIf you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.[ Krissy  Jul 22, 2014 ]  Staff
Controls are in the menu settings.[ JAMES  Jul 08, 2014 ]
There are no treble or bass controls, you have to customize the equalizer curve, see page 17 of the owners manual. There are 7 bands settings on the equalizer. The lowest band (band 1) is 67 Hz and most "bass" band, the highest band (band 7) is 16000 Hz and the most "treble" band.. By raising the DB level on the lower bands, you increase the bass. By raising the DB level on the middle bands, you increase the "midrange". By raising the DB level on the higher bands, you increase the treble. I bought this for my son and I instructed him to set as follows: Band 1 to +6 dB, Band 2 to +5 dB, Band 3 to +4 dB, Band 4 to +3 dB, Band 5 to +4 dB, Band 6 to +5 dB, Band 7 to +6 dB.That setting raises the volume on the bass and on the treble, and lowers the level on the midrange. My son could not stand that setting because I installed a Bazooka subwoofer and a an 1100 watt power amp in the trunk. But you can set the bass and treble whatever way you like using this method.[ WAYNE  Jul 08, 2014 ]
