Sony's CDX-GT660UP CD receiver puts an impressive set of visual and audio delights at your fingertips. It'll match its display and button colors to your dash or the beat of your music, and gives you a variety of musical options — including in-dash control of PANDORA® Internet radio.
Tap into online music
If you're a fan of PANDORA®, you don't have to be told how cool it is to enjoy the music you love wherever there's an Internet connection. Connect your iPhone to the front USB input, and you'll be able to control PANDORA® from this Sony. Listen, rate, create — you'll have complete control.
You'll enjoy easy access to your iPod® or iPhone's music library, with Quick BrowZer, Jump, Zappin', and other Sony tools on hand to help you find the tunes you want, right away.
Dynamic Color Illuminator
It's fun to match the color of your new receiver to your dash lighting, but Sony's Dynamic Color Illuminator goes one better. Its Sound Synchronization feature changes the display colors to the beat of your music. It's a cool way to spice up your late-night cruising.
Awesome audio controls
Sony's Advanced Sound Engine offers sound quality that's several notches above most factory radios, with excellent dynamic range, stereo separation, and fidelity. You'll also find some nice touches like the Automatic Level Optimizer, which continually balances the output of your sources so the volume stays even from song to song.
The EQ7 7-band equalizer gives you lots of options for adjusting the sound to match your car. Sony's DM+ Advanced circuitry restores the details that are lost when you compress your digital music, so you enjoy the best possible sound from your MP3, WMA, or AAC files. And you can sit in the perfect stereo "sweet spot" by using the Listening Position time alignment tool.
Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Sony stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Sony, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.
Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Average Customer Review(s):
All around a good stereo it has a lot of tuning options for sound and subwoofers
Started off great, but after a few weeks it seemed to malfunction, was getting ready to return it but now the car that it resided in is dead. For the price you might find something better on the market.
Pros: Easy install, straight forward controls.
Cons: Didn't seem to have good build quality. A bit high for the price.
I like the radio. It is very similar to my last one. I hope it lasts as long.
Pros: Usb and input jack on front. sub pre-out.
Cons: Too many sources to wade through ie; pandora, usb, etc
I wanted to replace the 22 year old factory cassette (!) player in my work truck and this met my narrow list of requirements: no dash modification, front USB and mini-jack aux ins, and adjustable color to try and match the old interior lighting. It has way more stuff than I will ever use and most of it is lost on me. It wants to synch my music with my mood (apparently) and every now and then puts on a disco show advertising this feature. I assume I will figure out how to turn it off but for now its passively annoying. My general complaint about after market stereos is that they all want to be fancy and flashy and I don't need or like that. But once I figured out how to access the sound controls it puts out decent sound at a fairly affordable price.
Pros: Does what I wanted it to, fairly easy to install once I figured out the DIN sleeve (thanks customer service).
Cons: Blinky and annoying from time to time, too many multi-function knobs and buttons (which is just how after market stereos are), too many features I will never use. But I know that when buying it.
Cool receiver. It does what it's supposed to do
Pros: Cool features
Very nice product-GREAT support from Crutchfield
Pros: Easy instructions for install, EXCELLENT support from Crutchfield
Cons: Needed an antenna so I had to go buy one. It was not brought up or mentioned in my initial call
Good receiver especially at the sale price I received. Love everything about it that I have tried out. Can be a little complicated at times, but that makes for good options if you're patient. I have no real complaints and highly recommend it as a good value!
Pros: Great radio reception esp. in low quality areas, Sony quality, lots of options for using the color and easy to use USB and AUX.
Cons: Lots of options = fiddle with it a lot on the road. That could just be me. Also I had minor difficulty reattaching the faceplate the first few times.
This receiver has a nice, bright display. The pre-set EQ's give you a nice range of sound choices, but also allows for custom tuning. This particular installation happens to be connected to the stock vehicle amplifier, and sometimes there is no sound output when the unit is clearly otherwise working. I do enjoy the 2 front inputs for audio sources, and the 3 sets of 4-volt pre-outs make it very expandable for external amplifiers that I may add in the future. Overall a pretty decent unit for the price.
Pros: Inputs, pre-outs, great display, good sound field choices from EQ settings
Cons: Navigating the menus is more difficult than need be, sometimes audio out to stock amp does not work
So far so great! Time will tell but I am very satisfied with this unit.
Pros: I love the looks and everything that it does.
Exceeded my expectations
Very snazzy looking unit with lots of cool features
Pros: USB port, aux jack, pandora radio, satellite radio capable
Cons: No cons I can find
I just finished installing this radio in my 2005 Subaru Outback wagon. Disassembling the car's instrument cluster is a pain, especially because of the climate control cable, but if you have patience and smallish hands, it's works out fine. The instructions for the radio are reasonably clear, and the wiring harness provided by Crutchfield worked perfectly. In the "Setup" menu for the radio, there are some options that only work if the radio is powered off - mainly the "Caut Alm" caution alarm setting, which emits an annoying beep every time you turn the car off. You can turn the alarm off, but only if the radio is off. Weird. Apart from that, the sound quality is fine. I'm not an afficianado, so it's definitely good enough for me. But: my old car radio was a Sirius unit, and I had the Sirius subscription. When I got this new radio, I also got the SXV200V1 SiriusXM tuner, because my old tuner, which was OLD, wasn't compatible with the new radio. As far as I can tell, the SXV200V1 is the only satellite tuner that is compatible with this radio. The thing that isn't clear at all is that, if you already have a *Sirius* subscription, you have to switch over to an *XM* subscription with this tuner. And that means your channel lineup with change. I had "Sirius Select" - I had to move over to "XM Select" - same price, mostly the same channels, EXCEPT that XM Select doesn't include Howard Stern. If you want that, you have to upgrade to XM Premier for an extra $3.50/month.
This radio was a great buy. I love all the options.
Pros: Easy to install
I love Sony products because of their quality and long life. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality product
Pros: Sony quality, ease of use
Well this was my first car stereo system I have installed. The installation was very easy to do and took about a day to hook up. The radio came with every thing I needed to install. The radio and speaker I purchased about two months ago have the best sound quality you can get for the money. I would recommend this radio to any one who wants a quality stereo for their car or truck
Pros: easy to use easy to install looks great high quality radio
Over all I love this stereo in my 2000 Focus ZX3 with after market speakers and infinity basslink 10" sub. Ive owned it for over a year. easy to use, easy buttons to touch and turn, lots of options for a fairly advanced audio set up. I will buy this for my second car (Pontiac Grand Prix)
Pros: -Turn your rear speakers into "subs" -LPF and HPF slopes and multiple freq. -7 band EQ -Lots of colors to match your mood or car color -browse iPod with stereo or the device, you choose -select your location in the car for a better soundstage effect.
Cons: I've noticed a couple glitches or "problems" foremost is when my car is only running off battery (ignition mode) and the volume is up pretty loud the stereo will power off and start back up. It's like it's got a circuit breaker built in. It's frustrating because sometimes at parties I don't want exhaust fumes.
Very good unit. Easy install with the master sheet provided. Would definitely recommend this unit.
Pros: Great sound. And a lot of customizable features.
Cons: Kinda difficult to configure sound, color, ect. Had to refer to the paperwork included on more than one occasion.
One of the things that drew me to this unit was the 7-band EQ. Not many budget units have that. I like being able to customize the sound profile. I just wish it had more than one custom profile slot. The multitude of colors is cool too. Navigating to find music stored on the ipod took a little getting used to. And the DM+ feature that enhances highly compressed music has it's pros and cons. It can make some tracks sound fuller and richer and some it makes them sound tinny. Overall, though I am pleased with this purchase.
Pros: Good sound quality and features in a budget unit.
Cons: Not as easy to navigate to the music you want to find as in a double DIN touch screen unit.
Way better than my (Mazda) factory system was, but it's still probably outdated, by now. There's no bluetooth phone or streaming. Navigation of the USB devices (thumb-drive, iPod and iPhone) is nearly impossible, especially while driving. Forget about searching. And the shuffle only works in one folder which is a bummer. It has some pretty sweet programming to make the most of the factory speakers. Sounds good.
Pros: Love the simulated subwoofer in the rear speakers. Charges devices hooked up to USB, and plays music from them.
Cons: No bluetooth, no phone connectivity, USB cord comes out of the front, tough to navigate music on USB devices (especially when driving)
Overall this is pretty good. Sounds good, and feature set is complete. Main complaints are related to user interface and equalizer (the custom 7-band EQ was the main reason I bought this unit). The EQ turnover points are not displayed anywhere (you just have to know what they are from the manual) which is annoying, and the EQ adjustment is only +/-6dB each band; this can be problematic when trying to correct for larger problems. I'm not crazy about the selection of turnover points on the equalizer; In the lower octaves the turnover points jump from 160Hz to 400Hz, leaving out the critical 250 - 300Hz area where most annoying car resonances seem to fall. The display is especially ugly, and the text characters are large and blocky (and all upper-case), so unable to display much info without scrolling (a pioneer that a put in another of our cars is much more attractive, and informative). I don't really like the fact that you have to fold down the hinged front panel to insert/eject a CD; this means you have to disconnect your front-panel USB device to put a CD in - kind of a pain when you're trying to drive. Unit sounds good, and aside from these issues it provides pretty good value for money.
Pros: Sounds good, decent value for money, good feature set
Cons: Hard to use, lousy ergonomics, must fold down front panel to insert/eject CD, Equalizer interface could use some work.
I've bought this deck for the two line display, a built in clock, and the color changing display. I have not been disappointed with it's performance in any way. Installation was a breeze with the provided kit. Great tuning options to allow for best possible sound. This was put into a 2004 Ralliart with the 6 speaker infinity system stock. Since my car has all four speakers powered by the infinity amp I had to purchase a different connector, fortunately this is hardly a setback. Other thoughts: the low frequency crossover cannot be disabled, as a result the bass from this deck doesn't hit as hard as the stock one. In most vehicles that's a good thing but in mine it wasn't, but hey that's what under-seat sub boxes are for right?
Pros: Everything but the low frequency crossover.
Cons: Cannot disable low frequency crossover.
Great radio love color display
Pros: Very easy to use great price
Hard to get used to but sounds great and has a lot of cool features!!
Cons: Hard to get used to
I do enjoy the sound quality from this receiver but its kind of hard to use.
Pros: Very cool display lots of colors
Cons: Very hard to control hi low you have to use the 7 band feature and try to control it that way, there is no bass + - or treble + -
This is a good tuner for the money. I like the Sirius XM connectivity, along with the iPhone hookup
Pros: Remote control, MP3 player, iPhone connection, USB port
Cons: Faceplate is a huge pain to re-attach
I have no complaints about this product. There are many features to customize the sound and display of this head unit. I am extremely happy with my purchase. The main reason i was drawn to this headhunt was because it allows Ipod control. If i ever have to replace a stock head unit I will go straight back to this one.
Pros: Ipod control, USB port, AUX port, Multi color display, Looks awesome
I love Sony products and this doesnt change my mind one bit. Perfect !! About to purchase some Polk Audio component speakers. Hoping to create my best setup yet. Thanks Crutchfield.
Pros: 3 pre-amp exits.
Amazing upgrade over my stock Monsoon tape (yes, that's embarrassing) deck w/10 cd changer. Don't know why GM would put a tape deck in a 2001 Camaro SS, but I digress. This Sony unit is an amazing value, sounds great, and is easy to install. It has totally revived my stock speakers to the point it almost sounds like I replaced the speakers as well! I love the color customization and the USB/iPod interface. Great stereo, you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Pretty much everything.....
Cons: Steep learning curve....but not insurmountable.
I bought this radio for my husband's truck so he could use his new IPod. Crutchfield included everything that he needed to quickly remove the existing radio and install the new one. Sounds and looks great. Thanks for always including everything down to the smallest detail!
Pros: Looks great.
Cons: Has a lot of sound settings to figure out.
Great Stereo, sound, and looks. This is the third one I've bought for different cars that we have had over a couple of years. Never have had any problems. It puts out great sound and looks very nice. Not much more that I can say about it. Try it, you'll like it.
Pros: Price, Sound, looks, quality, ease of use.
Cons: Have to read the instructions to menu through the features. Not really a con though is it? Easy to understand...
This is an excellent component. It has all the features I wanted at an affordable price. It was easy to install and has fine tunability with the equalizer. It produces excellent sound quality. I would recommend this unit.
Pros: Satellite-ready, Ipod controls, USB port, equalizer. Good installation and operation manuals.
Cons: Controls are not intuitive. This gadget requires study of the manual to operate, so it is impossible for someone who doesn't know the unit to operate it. It also means that it is dangerous to operate while driving, what with all the inconsiderate drivers on the roads. The website claims it fits the cars I purchased it for, but not without the 1 inch spacer that makes it protrude from the instrument panel. It looks like a psychedelic wart sticking out there, scrolling through those 35000 colors.
I bought this unit primarily for playing mp3's through the usb port in the front. Mp3's play with horrible distortion through the port. I thought I had blown speakers but then it sounds great if I play the radio. I'll be looking to try a different brand.
Pros: Looks great and has a ton of nice features.
Cons: Good looks and cool features are meaningless it the sound is bad.
a great cd player. lots of cool stuff to pick from and change, you can really set it up how you want to listen to your music and how you want too.
Pros: great all around quality
Installed in my wife's car. Installation went smooth all THREE times I did it. I installed three times because I thought I had messed something up. When lowering the faceplate to use the CD the main knob hits the trim and barely lowers enough for clearance to insert a CD. You have to contort your hand/fingers to push the button to eject the CD. I didn't mess up, just poor design. And don't even try remove and put the faceplate back on, incredibly hard to align just right.
Pros: Wife hardly ever uses CD's and doesn't remove the faceplate.
Cons: Poor design.
I have this receiver installed in a 2000 S10 truck powering 5 1/4" Focal Polyglass speakers in all four speaker locations and it's an amazing leap from the factory sound system. I am planning on running an external amp to really bring the Focals to life. It gives me complete control over tweaking the sound from the subwoofer to the speakers. The only real complaint I have about it is the control over my iPhone (although this could be due to the decline of quality of Apple software recently) When listening to a certain playlist or certain artist through my headphones, I get into my truck and plug it in and keep listening to the same song but when I try to change the song, the receiver pauses for about a second or two and starts playing the first album, alphabetically, on my iPhone. This makes it so I have to search on the receiver to get back to the music I was originally listening to which gets old pretty quickly. Also, if you have 'shuffle' activated on the iPhone then you can't shut it off from the receiver, you have to unplug the iPhone and turn off Shuffle then plug it back in...Which brings you right back to having to search through the receiver to get back to your music again! Overall it's a great value and is built well and of course customer service from Crutchfield was amazing as always!
Pros: Tons of options, plenty of power, lots of control over sound
Cons: iPhone control is very aggravating at times
Really like this radio. So much so that I purchased a second one after putting on in a 200 Jetta. The new one went in a 2005 Trailblazer. Crutchfield sent everything I needed. The Onstar adapter went in with little difficulty. Plenty of room going from Double DIN to single. Forgot to adjust the chimes before putting the dashboard back together.
Pros: Easy install, radio plays just about every media source out there. Color choices.
Cons: not enough power. Vehicle adapter should have had a tray for a phone or Ipod.
Who needs an Ipod? A 16 gig flash drive holds about 400 hours of music. Put it on shuffle and never turn it off.
Needed a receiver that had the following requirements: RDS, Aux Input, IPOD Control, Low FM sensitivity and direct access to the preset stations by buttons. I initially wanted BT so I went with the Pioneer DEH-6400BT. The first thing I noticed was that the display was hard to read and the reception left something to be desired. I also found that I was not able to answer BT calls. I switched to the Sony-MEX-BT4000P. The reception was great, the display was easy to read but I was still unable to answer BT calls. This is what happens when you have an old phone. So realizing that I didn't need the BT functionality I stepped down to the Sony CDX-GT660UP. The radio has ALL of the same features of the Sony-MEX-BT4000P EXCEPT the BT. I couldn't be happier. The reception is superb. Where I had trouble getting stations in other radios, this one brings them in crystal clear. The unit is easy to read and has all of the functions I desire. The only complaints I have are with the user interface. While it is a bit confusing (i.e. you hit the BIG button to get to the menus, but a very small button to turn the unit off) it is not a deal killer. Overall I am very happy with this receiver. If you don't need BT, this is a great choice. If you do, the go with the Sony-MEX-BT4000P. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Great reception, Aux interface, Direct Access to pre-stored stations
Cons: Menu navigation can be a bit confusing
I installed this receiver to replace the factory unit in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler. Everything exceeded my expectations. It what easy to install, looks great, sounds great and was reasonably priced. I recommend it heartily!
Pros: As above, sounds great, easy to install, looks great.
Cons: I'm old enough where I don't want to learn a bunch of new things. The receiver has so many features and functions it can seem overwhelming.
Oh yes, oh yes. This headunit is awesome. My Ford Focus came with a factory "upgraded" stereo that was pretty terrible. Come to find out the real limitation was the factory headunit. Now the speakers sound much clearer, and the little subwoofer has come alive. Highs, low, mids, it's all improved. The controls on the unit are first rate, with large, crisp buttons and a joystick-like volume knob. The tactile, rubberized knob makes reaching out and controlling the volume easy without looking. The multi color display is no gimmick and really adds a great affect. My only complaints are that you have to hold the source button for a second or so to turn off the unit. This is the only way to stop playback, there is not stop or pause button. If that's the biggest complaint I can think of, it must be pretty good, right? Great bang for the buck and has all of the features you will want, minus Bluetooth. Sony wants more moolah for that feature...Oh well. Verdict: Click BUY.
I've had my eyes on this Sony CDX-GT660UP for about a year now, before i finally purchased it. I'm glad i have purchased this Sony CDX-GT660UP and not something else. I've always purchased and had pioneer cd/mp3 player for my car but i gotta say, Sony have done a good job with this receiver. Defiantly would recommend it to someone. ;D
Pros: sound quality, awesome color display..
Cons: face does suck sometimes when putting on, other than that, aWesome receiver. :D
I love it I upgraded from my factory radio and I love every bit of this radio from the to the sound to the control. I have not one complaint at all. I even loved the goodies I got just for getting it from crutch field
This was so easy to put in, we had it installed in two hours!
Pros: This stereo is great, I love the ease of use, the multi colors and sound.
Cons: The assembly, the combination of the sleeve and mounting plate, seems loose. It rattles when I go over rough roads.
I bought this radio to replace the factory radio in my son's Ford F-150. My primary reasons for buying this was price, the everything you need install kit, and the iPod usb interface. The color display was a nice feature that I wasn't expecting. I like the graphic equalizer display as well. I struggled a little bit at first trying to use it without reading the manual, but was able to figure it out. I give 5 stars across the board. I wasn't sure on the sound, because it is not fair to evaluate it given the crappy factory speakers in the Ford F150. Overall, my son and I are very pleased with this purchase. I'm also very pleased with the service and follow-up by Crutchfield. They care!
Pros: * Easy Installation * Ipod Interface * Color Schemes * Crutchfield Support
Cons: * Not Intuitive
I bought this for my Mom's '83 Mercedes 380 SL to replace that awful, non functioning Becker which was OEM. After much research Crutchfield was the only site that made me comfortable that it would fit, that I wouldn't have to cut into the wiring harness, and that all the wires were going to connect correctly without trial and error. All of those things were accomplished and the installation was flawless. The Benz only has two front speakers and I was not going to cut into a cherry classic car but the sound is excellent, especially given this is a noisey roadster. As for "cool", well you get a little of that "Midnight in Tokoyo" look with it. I wish I could turn off the equalizer show. Just not necessary. I wanted sound, not show. But other than that and the fact that you have to page through a lot during setup, and the buttons are a bit small and not obvious it is pretty easy to use once you work with it a bit. Probably not so easy for the '92 year old owner, though.
Pros: Fits perfectly! Crutchfield's harness for the car model is exact. Installation was very easy. Great sound, even with just the 2 OEM speakers! Many nice features with USB, iPod, Pandora, and good FM capture. Controls the power antenna just like the Becker. Great value!
Cons: Looks just a bit cheezy in the Benz. Give us a way to turn off the junk displays.
Upgraded from factory to this. Added the XM tuner as well, very pleased. Display is hard to read in bright conditions, and I wish it had a clock display that was visible all the time, but overall, I'm very satisfied. The install was in a 2012 Hyundai Accent, and Crutchfield included the new bezel, but no harness adapters were available. Volume level is OK, I added a small sub-woofer amp and a 10" sub for getting more bottom, but that's a function of the acoustics more than anything else. I upgraded to "Kicker" component speakers in the front earlier as well as replaced the rear door speaks.. all bought from Crutchfield. I now look forward to listening to my car stereo, where before it was pretty sad sounding.
Pros: Great sound, a lot of features, cool colors on the display, easy to use
Cons: Display is hard to read in bright sunlight Really only one usable line for the display, limited in scope
Good radio easy to install.
Greatly disappointed in the tuner reception, can get 98 mhz stations with much trouble but going above or below that frequency range lots of static on the FM side. Even with stations whose towers are 5 miles from my location still has a lot of static, doesn't matter if the engine is running or shut off. AUX connection, IPOD and CD, sound is crystal clear coming through stock speakers that came with the vehicle.
Cons: tuner receiption, would like to have had a faceplate case come with the unit.
I wanted a new stereo to replace the stock model in my Hyundai Accent before I left for a long trip. I purchased only the stereo & planned to buy the speakers at a later date. My brother had a little bit of trouble installing it with the hardware that was included for free, but once it was in, I couldn't be happier with the quality & sound. The sound is so great that I never even needed to purchase new speakers. I am still using my original stock speakers. I haven't even taken the time to play with the colors or other features. I just know it looks great & sounds great & that's all I care about!
Pros: great sound
Cons: reattaching the stereo face is sometimes tricky
I missed out on a closeout head unit i was looking at in January. BOY am I glad I did! I saw this sucker come up as an equivalent unit and decided for the price, I couldn't resist. when it came with the free dash kit and wiring harness for my car, I knew I was in for a treat. The first time I fired it up and actually had my music playing through it, I was blown away by the quality! Even on the stock Hyundai Speakers, it sounds world class! At the time I installed the unit, I also installed my MTX sub-woofer box and MTX sub amp. The connection to the unit was solid from the start and the woofer sounds even better than new! My dream configuration is realized by the USB port on the front and the ability to use an aux jack if I wanted to. I purchased a 16GB ergotron USB drive prior to getting this unit. The drive is one of those that has a very low profile plugged into a USB port. (it sticks out even less than the adjustment knob does!) the drive has an amber light that flashes as it's being played, but that just adds to the "Coolness" factor of this unit. I get compliments all the time that it's almost as if the unit has it's own internal hard drive! The ability to mix and match colors with my dash lights is awesome and the ability to change them on the fly is a nice feature to show off. LOVE the fact that it has a dimmer wire so that when the headlights are turned on, the unit face dims with the rest of the dash! (gives it that stock stereo installation feel!
Pros: EVERYTHING about this unit is awesome, I couldn't be more pleased with this! I am using a 16GB Ergotron USB drive and it reads everything on it without any trouble and VERY fast. when I turn off the car and pull the face with the drive still plugged in, when I put the face back and hit "source" it picks up right where it left off even in the middle of a song!
Cons: Wish it came with a case for the detachable face, it's been hard finding a good one. When you play music through the USB and you're listening to continuous mixed tracks, there is a 1/2 second gap in the tracks. I feel this is a limitation of the technology however and not the ability of the unit to read the songs in high speed. Even my sony MP3 walkman has a longer pause than this unit.
I have had this receiver for about 3 weeks now, I have been very impressed with it so far. After my first Sony I decided to try this one when the speakers in my Mercury Mountaineer started going out. I paired it with Kicker speaker, and the difference in sound quality is amazing. The unit is very easy to use. I would recommend this receiver to anyone that is looking for a good sounding and sharp looking receiver for their car.
Pros: Any color of lights is cool USB hook up remote control
Very nice deck. Sound quality is excellent & I love the "rainbow" color setting. Having a little trouble finding all the fine-tuning stuff but only b/c it's so different from my old one...it would likely also help if I read the manual lol but I'd rather play to figure it out ;-)
Pros: Everything so far
First time ever installing a car stereo, Crutchfield made it easy. Less than 3 hours and done. I'm no audiophile, but I really like this stereo. Even with the factory speakers, it sounds great!
Works great with my 07 Accord and steering wheel control adapter.
Pros: Has puase for CD and USB functions. Color can be adjusted to not reflect on windshield
Amps up the sound a bit, Worth the money, Wider screen because the cd receiver is hidden inside.
Pros: Remote included, lots of colors to choose from, USB, and Aux
Got the unit, put it in my 2000 Celica in under an hour with helpful instructions from Crutchfield. Sound quality is better than the old cruddy stock radio that has been in the car since it was assembled in 1999. Very easy to use, can make the colors of the unit match or compliment your interior or gauges. iPod connectivity and SiriusXM tuner makes this unit a winner! I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants a good unit for a decent price. Only complaint is the face plate is a little weird to remove and re-attach.
Pros: Custom colors, iPod USB connection, Sirius XM Tuner compatible, Good sound quality.
Cons: Weird face plate in my opinion.
Initially, I was reluctant to replace my top of the line Alpine unit with this one, because I didn't find it to be particularly attractive, but I am sooo glad I did. I initially replaced an Alpine in my old car with one of these, and after realizing how much better it was than the Alpine, I replaced the recent Alpine in my newer car with one too. Wonderful. The whines and noises picked up from the engine, GONE. The squealing and humming on AM radio, GONE. Pickup of at least 25 AM stations previously undetectable, DONE. FM reception, in miles from the source, just about DOUBLED! Inability to read the screen in sunlight, GONE. Fast fowarding or reverse searching speed of mp3's at least doubled! And, that annoying habit the Alpine has of holding the Volume Number in place for a long time after you have just adjusting the volume, so you can't just glance down and see what the track is that you have just accessed, GONE! Get a tiny Sandisk 16GB USB drive, stick in in the front, and you're in audio Nirvana with no danger to the USB port. Oh, yes, the GT660UP sounds great too! By the way, one of my units stopped recognizing the USB devices and Crutchfield had a replacement unit in my hands in 3 days - including a Sunday. Incredible.
Pros: Ergonomics, sound, RF interference rejection, AM and FM signal pickup, text readability in any ambient light, cool colors, tons of options for sound, screens, etc.etc.
Cons: I honestly can't think of any.
This stereo is great the sound is better than I expected. It was easy to install & setup.
Great delivery service and very pleased with my new car stereo. Did alot of researching around town as well as online before making my mind and found Crutchfield to be fairly competetive pricing and the free accesories for the stereo sealed the deal. Made the whole instalation very very easy especially having very little experience in putting in car stereos. Thanks!
Pros: delivery, service, free instalation kits, quality product, EZ install
Cons: couldn't think of any
This is a great head unit. The sound is excellent for a built-in amp. The controls are a little small for my big hands but useable. With all the outputs and crossover built-in there is no need for a separate EQ/X-over. I am amazed how far car stereos have come since I built Crank-it-up systems in the late 90's. I carry a 4gb flash drive full of music and it works great. I wish I had paid the extra $40 for the 4 line version as the 2 lines are wasted. The clock is on the same line as the song info so you can only see one or the other at a time, not both. If that isn't a deal breaker then this is a very good value.
Pros: Plays cd's, flash drive, and IPOD. High power, good sound, easy to use
Cons: sorta small buttons, HD radio a big upgrade in price.
The Items I bought was just as expected! They fit my vehicle as stated easy to install wonderful deal!
Pros: Its all good!
I put this receiver in my 92 F150. Took about 3 hours. I've really wanted to replace my old factory radio (which that was ALL it was, just an AM/FM radio) for a long time and finally decided to do so. I like the ability to play mp3 & wma files thru a thumb drive. The sound is great even thru my factory speakers which I will eventually replace ... but I'm in no hurry because just installing the new Sony HU has made a super difference. The remote is really nice and allows me to skip thru songs and control the volume without taking my eyes off the road. It has many features but i really liked the 7-band equalizer. I can customize the sound to make even my old speakers sound pretty good. Overall I'm really satisfied with this receiver.
Pros: 7-band equalizer, and a very nice remote. Also being able to customize the color to match my dash's instruments color.
Cons: Little hard to see during daytime ... but that's not a showstopper.
I got the head unit around Christmas and installed myself in 2005 Subaru Outback (manual climate controls). I picked that model because I was able to play with it at a local store and liked the way it looks and sounds.. also that the color can be adjusted to match any dashboard. I don't like the standard RED/BLUE that sony usually comes with. I had many headunits before... the last one was ALPINE CDA 8335 a really high end for it's days and that's what I'm mostly comparing to Sony sounds really good with CD, MP3 and USB plug-in. My car completely transformed even with stock speakers... in fact, now I don't plan to replace those at least not till they break ;) FM Radio sounds OK, reception is better than stock unit. What I don't like or features that I would NOW spend a little more money on if I was to buy again: 1) High Res screen - Alpine had it.. it's nice to see all track names while playing or searching through folders (MP3). And that's probably even more important for Ipods... I tried mine and it worked, but I don't see the name of folder, files etc. Not the way it should be in ideal world :) But it does work and plays and charge. 2) I would pay a bit extra for Bluetooth Issues I have: 1) It's not a deal breaker but once in while when I start the car I have to pull out and plug back in the USB flash drive. For some reason it may say that it's not compatible or not reading. Pull it out, plug back in and you are on again. no big deal
Pros: Excellent sounds with stock speakers, I got everything I paid for. Being able to of those really small flash drives, that sticks out just 1/4" from dash is really nice! I had MP3 cd's before.
Cons: High Resolution screen would be nice! (for the same money!?) I'd love aux input on the back to hide cables... but I knew it doesn't have one when I ordered.
This is my first Sony single DIN unit in 8 years. All I can say is WOW! Awesome sound quality in my 2002 Escape. The ability to choose the display color was a huge factor for me, and you can literally match any factory color with this HU. Seeks through songs on my iPod as fast as the iPod itself. AUX input in front allows me to use Pandora with my Droid. Awesome head unit, blows my $400 double-DIN Pioneer out of the water. And the installation couldn't have been easier with the products Crutchfield sends -- for free! You cannot beat this head unit for the price. #Amazed
Pros: Custom display colors, iPod control, front AUX/USB input, stellar sound quality, nice looking HU compared to others on the market right now
Cons: Maybe the lack of AUX/USB in the rear, but I don't know that I would use them often.
