Don't struggle to hear your music over the crashing of the waves. Sony's XS-L100P5M 10" marine subwoofer makes a nice addition to your boat's audio system, pounding out deep, full-bodied bass that you can enjoy while relaxing on the water.

Sony built this sub with the marine environment in mind — it sports a UV- and salt-resistant design that can endure long days in the heat of the sun. The gold-plated binding posts resist corrosion, so you don't have to worry about moisture damage.

The unique cone design contains spiral ribs for increased rigidity. The result — low distortion and nothing but clean, accurate sound. You can use this sub for free-air applications — no enclosure is required.

Cone problems

Garry the boater from Florida on 6/12/2012

I am a Sony fan, I have always used their products and will continue to do so in the future....but I have to say these speakers have failed after only 2 years, the cones are brittle and break with a slight touch. Boat is under cover constantly so the sun is not to blame. Previous Sony xplod subs lasted 5 years until I smashed a hole in one and they were not marine, and had no grill cover therefore the hole.....

Pros: Pretty, protective grill

Cons: Cone disintigrating

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Subwoofer sounds good. I am powering with a sub amp equal to the RMS power rating of the speakers. It is plenty of bass for the 20' boat it is installed in. A little "boomy" at high volume but many subs are and the price is very good. My only complaint is that the mounting holes in the speaker are very close to the inside edge and allow for very little variation in the hole cut and in the placement of the speaker. They could have moved the holes further outward and made the install easier. They provide a template but cutting a perfect circle in certain boat materials is difficult.
