Sony SAL30M28 30mm f/2.8 SAM
Wide-angle macro prime lens for Sony A-mount DSLR cameras
Our take on the Sony SAL30M28 30mm f/2.8 SAM by Crutchfield's Tara W.
Compose dramatic photographs that showcase the nuances of your subject — from the soft details in a baby's face to the faint lines in a flower petal. This 30mm lens lets you take razor-sharp, lifelike closeup shots. Plus, its focal length and large f/2.8 aperture make it ideal for all-around shooting and creating pleasantly blurred backgrounds that make your subjects stand out.
This is a lens that you need to own. The quality is superior and the value is great. You will not be disappointed, once you begin to use it, you will continue to use and it will become your favorite lens. Sony has done a tremendous job in creating this product...!

Features and Specs
|Parts Warranty||1 Year|
|Labor Warranty||1 Year|
Overview: The Sony SAL30M28 is a small, lightweight wide angle macro lens that features a large aperture (f/2.8) and fixed focal length of 30mm (APC-C 35mm equivalent of 45mm) which makes it ideal for portrait shots, as well as close up photography.
DT Lens Design: The DT Lens is a compact, lightweight lens designed specifically for the APS-size CCD imager used in most Sony Alpha-series DSLR cameras.
Note: DT lenses are not recommended for use with the Sony DSLR-A900.
Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM): The built-in Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM) eliminates the need to use a mechanical coupling system in the camera body to transfer auto focus (AF) drive power and control signals to the lens. Instead, AF control signals from the camera body are sent to the lens-mounted SAM unit, which drives the focusing lens group directly, helping to assure smooth AF response.
Manual Focus: To focus manually using this auto-focus lens, set the camera body to manual focus and adjust the focus ring on the lens. The shooting distance scale, located on the barrel of the lens, is graduated in inches and feet as well as meters from 5.1" (0.129m) to infinity. For accurate manual focusing, look through the viewfinder while rotating the focusing ring.
Flash Precautions: When using a built-in camera flash, you will have to shoot from at least 1 meter (3.3') away from your subject. With certain lens/flash combinations, the lens may partially block the light of the flash, resulting in a shadow at the bottom of the picture. To prevent the shadows from appearing, use of a Ring Light, Macro Twin Flash kit, or a Macro Light Adapter is recommended.
Vignetting: When you use the lens, the corners of the screen may become darker than the center. To reduce this phenomena (called vignetting), you should close the aperture by 1-2 stops.
