Average Customer Review(s):
works and sounds great.
Works and sounds great. Needs a bit of work in the UI department but aside from that, a great buy.
Pros: Good size. Easy to use. Quality build. Great sound
Cons: UI is a tad sluggish. UI is not up to par with modern Mobil devices (IPods) Data transfer software needs improvement.
Guitars have strings again, cymbals vibrate, violins are cool....The clarity of the sound makes the recording come to lfe. I had an early IPod Classic, now an iPod touch with 10,000 songs and this new Sony Walkman NW-A45I can cut grass with my diesel Zero Turn Mower or my bushhog on the back of my Kubota L-38-30 tractor and still enjoy quality music reproduced, Bose Sport Ear Buds. Not bad for the suburb of the Sticks in Sharon, Ga.
Pros: Music reproduction. battery Life
Cons: Ease of finding songs. I ran in to several sites that stated the Sony would not be compatible with I tunes collections but My file seems to have been imported by the Sony Walkman with the exception of playlists that were not imported. JW was the Crutchfield associate that helped me.Like Brooke and a couple of others have been very knowledgeable. I will be playing my music next year at our 50th High School Class Reunion. I'm fairly certain that one of t is steered me towards a Denon Am

The S-Master HX digital amplifier is optimized for high-resolution audio playback, delivering smooth, natural sound over a wide 20Hz-40kHz frequency range.
DSEE HX: Sony has included their DSEE HX "up-scaling" technology in the NW-A45. DSEE HX uses an algorithm to analyze the music, and automatically replace the "lost" information. DSEE HX (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) gives your highly-compressed music files new life so they sound almost as good as true Hi-Res Audio quality.
Memory: The NW-A45 has a 16 GB internal memory, which has the capacity for the following number of recordable songs (approximately 4 minutes in length):

Devices that have the NFC (Near-Field Communication) function, can be automatically turned on, and paired with the Walkman, by simply touching the back of the Walkman to the device on the NFC logo. The NW-A45 is equipped with LDAC, which uses the conventional Bluetooth connection, but transfers data at up to 999 kbps. That's three times the transfer rate of other audio profiles, which results in higher fidelity. In addition, the unit supports aptX and aptX HD.
Sound Quality Settings: You can adjust the sound quality with the following selectable functions: 6-band Equalizer (with presets Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, EDM, R&B, HipHop, Relax, and Custom 1&2), DSEE HX, DC Phase Linearizer, VPT (Studio, Club, Concert Hall, Matrix), Dynamic Normalizer, ClearAudio+, and Clear Phase.

Bluetooth capable, expandable memory. I've always bought reliable Sony products. [ Z Apr 16, 2018 ]
If you load them onto the memory in a compatible file format, absolutely. [ Ryan Jun 02, 2018 ] Staff
Yes. You have to transfer it through Sony's software, but yes. I have not however tried, older, protected files. I've only used ALAC files, as I don't want the lower quality files in the device. [ Omar May 20, 2018 ]
Sorry, no. USB is a digital connection so, you wouldn't want to connect the player this way as it would bypass the Sony's high quality digital to analog converter. If you want to connect the Sony to a car stereo, the better option would be to use the analog headphone output connected to an auxiliary audio input on the stereo. You can upload both. Just not exactly the same way. Not all artwork seems to be compatible. I had to update some artwork in iTunes for it to be compatible with the Walkman. You will use Sony's software to transfer data from iTunes to Walkman (drag n drop). Easy, but tedious. [ Omar May 20, 2018 ]
