Optics: The Sony E PZ 18-105mm F4G
OSS (SELP18105G) mid-range zoom lens is compatible with the
Sony α interchangeable lens cameras with the E-mount. The lens has a focal length of
18-105mm with 35mm full frame cameras like the new A7 (ILCE7 and 7R), and
27-157.5mm on NEX-series cameras with APS-C-sized image sensors. It comes with the
ALC-SH128 lens hood, and front and rear
G-Series Lens: Sony's G-Series lenses are designed for
maximum descriptive power, maintaining excellent peripheral light
characteristics and maximizing contrast even at the edges of the frame.
Power Zoom (PZ): The 18-105mm features a powered zoom
mechanism. A sliding switch on the side of the lens lets you zoom in and out.
The zoom speed is determined by how far you slide the switch. You can also zoom
manually by turning the zoom ring.
Optical SteadyShot (OSS): The lens has built-in Optical
SteadyShot image stabilization, which helps achieve crisp, stable images and
video in low-light or when zooming in on distant subjects. The OSS feature can
be activated in the camera's menu.
Focusing: The lens can be used with the NEX-series cameras in the
auto-focus, direct manual focus, or manual focus modes. You can switch between focusing modes
in the camera menu. In Direct Manual focus, you can fine-tune the focus by
turning the focusing ring after initially auto-focusing. Manual focusing is
performed with the focusing ring as well.
Lens Hood: The lens comes with the ALC-SH128 lens hood which
helps prevent lens flare. When installed, the lens hood adds approximately
2" to the overall length of the lens. The hood can be stored on the lens by
installing it backwards.
