The clean lines of the Sony SRS-X88 give it a simple, understated appearance. But this Bluetooth powered speaker has a secret. It can play high-resolution digital music files, including Direct Stream Digital (DSD) files. A digital audio format developed by Sony for Super Audio CDs, DSD offers warmth and smoothness that many consider to be similar to high-quality analog sources, but with the clarity and dynamics that we've come to expect from today's digital sources.
The SRS-X88 features a five-speaker array that creates a spacious stereo soundfield. Two tweeters reproduce highs with clarity, while two dedicated drivers deliver solid midrange fill in the mid-range detail. A dedicated woofer, reinforced by two passive radiators, handles the low frequencies. Sony's advanced enhancement mode restores some of the elements that can get lost with compressed music files, including high-frequency response, so your music will sound its best.
The SRS-X88 features two tweeters and mid-range drivers (far left/right), a low-frequency woofer (center), and two passive radiators (left/right center).
A world of wireless — and wired — listening options areyours with the SRS-X88. Stream wirelessly from any smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth. Have an iPhone®or iPad®? Use Apple®AirPlay®to wirelessly stream audio. The SRS-X88alsohas a USB input so you can play high-resolution music filesdirectly from your computer. A second USB input lets you connect your smartphone or tablet and play music through the system while your device recharges.
Connect to your home network via dual-band Wi-Fi. With Sony's free SongPal app for iOS® or Android™ , the music stored on your phone, Pandora® Internet radio, and even music stored on a DLNA-connected server can all be accessed directly from the app. And of course you can always use the system's auxiliary input to make a wired connection from a portable device.

Good buy! Worth it!
Very easy to set up and use. Song pal app is decent. Sound is very good for a small box. Not a wide immersive soundstage, but natural sound for a small box. Bass is decent given size limitations, but not for Bass lovers. My only complaint has to do with wireless connections. All are strong; it's never dropped a network. It's just too easy to connect to. I had it linked to my iphone with airplay, listening to some Led Zeppelin, when my son interrupted my tunes with some techno music from his phone. He had connected to the speaker with his phone using Google Cast. There is no way to prevent other sources from connecting. Not a problem for some, but a letdown for me. I worked around this by not enabling Airplay and just using Bluetooth. Once connected this way nothing else can hijack my tunes. Bluetooth does not sound as good as airplay however.
Pros: good sound, especially for small size. very flexible connections.
Cons: connections are too flexible.
Excellent Gear and Price. The best speaker with HR I recommend to everybody!
Pros: Price! HR
