Cutting edge smartphone integration

If you've got a smartphone, you know it has a lot more going for it than just Bluetooth, and with the WX-GT90BT you can tap into some of your phone's many capabilities. Sony's App Remote feature turns smartphone interactivity into a two-way street. With your phone's touchscreen, you can do things like selecting sources, picking radio stations, and launching apps. From your Sony receiver, you can select apps using the stereo's source button, the same way you'd choose the CD player or radio as your source. And, with your Android™ phone paired up, this receiver will read any incoming text messages out loud, so you can keep your eyes on the road..

Great sound at the heart of it all

The features are fun, but you'll really appreciate this Sony if you care about sound quality. The WX-GT90BT features an impressive array of sound-shaping tools, including a 7-band EQ, digital time alignment for a perfect stereo "sweet spot," and frequency filters that'll make your speaker setup shine. And Sony's powerful Digital Reality amp, noted for its solid sound output and realistic audio reproduction, will drive your speakers with crisp authority.

More ways to enjoy your tunes

Pop in a CD, plug your iPhone® or iPod® into the USB input, or browse your favorite Pandora® Internet radio stations from the receiver's controls — you've got plenty of options. And you can add on a SiriusXM tuner (subscription required), if you want to experience an unparalleled variety of news, talk, sports, and music.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

iPod note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

    2008 Subaru Outback

I bought one of these in 2013 for my old 2002 Honda accord. Loved the unit, very few issues. Biggest one I ran into was that it would boot up slowly in cold weather, so winters in NH were a little iffy, but it worked well 100% of the time once the car was warmed up. Other issues included the infamous glare problem, and the somewhat complex UI. Overall was a great investment, and am looking forward to using the WX-900BT in my new car.

Pros: Great sound, great price, detailed customization, unique style

Cons: Slow boot up in cold, complicated user interface may be off-putting to some, glare from sun makes it hard to read in daylight (common problem with these screens though)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fairly easy installation. One call to Crutchfield technical service, which was great as usual, to verify wiring connections (it's not obvious you need to use the little black Axxess box). The radio is great and pretty intuitive to figure out the settings. Charges iPhone via USB and Blue tooth connection works great.

Pros: Great features at a reasonable price

Cons: Kind of a mess of wires to deal with and find home for behind the radio (the radio does have a handy cavity in the back at the bottom which helps)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this stereo primarily for the USB port so I could use my Ipod but with the CD, Bluetooth and XM radio included, it is a great value. Easy to install and the sound quality is outstanding. I spent over 2 months of research deciding on a stereo and I am more than happy with my decision to purchase this one.

Pros: Outstanding sound quality. Perfect fit.

Cons: The only negative was that the screws supplied with the stereo were not long enough to reach through the brackets that came with the install kit. But I bought longer screws at the local hardware store and everything was fine. One caveat - Make sure that the screws are no longer than 3/8" because they could damage the stereo.

    Double Din Looks Great

Fast Si from lawrenceville, GA on 3/5/2016

Had the Sony CDX-GT570UP before buying this unit. Quickly realized that this unit is the double din version of the GT570UP. Was very happy with that unit so I'm sure I will enjoy this unit just as much. CDX-GT570UP latest over 4 years hope this one last long or longer.

Pros: Looks good in my dash. XM ready. Blue tooth audio is outstanding. Easy to install with Crutchfield mounting hardware and dash kit. Easy to customize display and sound settings. Great price for all the options this unit has.

Cons: Position of the Source button. As others have said, not bright enough during the day, too bright at nite.

    Excellent stereo for the price.

Multitude of features for the price, excellent value. Yet easy to navigate the setup and menus.

Pros: Easy install, fairly simple menu navigation. Built in EQ is great, quite an improvement over factory Monsoon system.

    Cons: None.

I only wish that the Crutchfield rep didn't fully explain the fact that the Sony product doesn't play well with the iPhone. I wound up replacing it with the Pioneer FX. I had previously purchased the earlier Pioneer for another vehicle.

Pros: Simply not as well thought out as the Pioneer

Cons: Doesn't play well with iPhones

Pros: Configurable display color. Intuitive ease of use. Sound quality.

Cons: Display is very simplistic but none other than that.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First aftermarket head unit in over a decade, I was torn between so many options. Seeing as everything else I own is Sony, I figured why not... Install was insanely easy and straightforward, fit/finish are nice, and sound (upgraded stock speakers as well) is equally impressive. The app is pretty handy, but can't comment at length as I haven't messed with it much. Superb customer service before AND after the sale. Earned a lifetime customer. Thanks!

Pros: Easy install, easy interface, plenty of power & functions for this price point.

Cons: Routing and mounting the microphone is a little goofy. If I were Sony, I'd integrate the mic into the unit if that's possible.

    Ok for the price

    2005 GMC Yukon
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this radio for a few weeks in my 2005 Yukon. My 2014 Sierra came with Sirius and got me hooked so, I upgraded the radio in the Yukon to get Sirius and make it easier to play my music catalog. I picked this Sony for the price, and it didn't require removal of a dash support to install. I naively thought the big display would have more information when in use. Crutchfield left the trim/install kit out of the package and I had to wait a week to do the install. The install wasn't very difficult which is good because the instructions are vague. Still, it took hours since this is the first radio that I've replaced in 15 years and routing the Sirius antenna takes a bit of time. I got the upgraded harness so I could use the steering wheel controls. Many have already discussed the brightness of the display which is mediocre and the dim feature is next to worthless. But my big gripe is the display format options. I want the time to display so there is only one option per source that shows the time. For some idiotic reason, the huge display shows very little information. With the time showing, the rest of the display tells you almost nothing. What a waste of a large display and shame on me for thinking that Sony couldn't be so stupid to waste it. "Coolness" is in the eye of the beholder and useless is never cool in my eye. And finally, the interface with my steering wheel controls is mediocre, too. Volume works great. The rest, not so great.

Pros: Sounds great. Fit nicely in Yukon. My music catalog is on a Sandisk Cruzer Fit 16Gig low profile flash drive that fits in the USB port and barely protrudes. The radio plays the music flawlessly. This is the single best feature of the radio. Sirius works great. Radio seems to work well with through the air AM and FM.

Cons: Hands down...the display. What a disappointment! So much area and so little information displayed. Display options are pathetic. It's as if the Sony engineers programmed this part in the waning minutes of a Friday afternoon. 3 Stars because of the display which should be an embarrassment to Sony. The steering wheel controls don't interface properly with the radio.

Only installed for a few days. Still learning how to program it. Work is getting in the way. This is my third Sony car receiver and I love the sound. Looks good also. Have installed aftermarket radios for a long time. Sony is a good choice.

    Pros: Sounds great. Looks good.

Cons: Little trouble programing but I'll get there.

    A great stereo!!

    2007 Chevrolet Colorado
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit to replace the factory stereo in my 07 Colorado. I had a few basic desires: I wanted my phone to stream through bluetooth without a lot of hoops to jump through or apps to download, and I wanted it to be fairly simple to operate, and I wanted it to be easy on the eyes without looking like it was vomited out of a Power Rangers nightmare. This thing nailed it in all areas. The bluetooth operation couldn't have been simpler to set up or use. It automatically hooks up to my phone when I turn the key, then plays my streaming music, and even hooks natively into Pandora without a special app on my phone (besides the normal one)! The one big knob on the front handles all the settings in an easy to understand manner and is pretty intuitive without being condescending. Finally, in my opinion, the looks of the stereo are understated while looking unmistakably modern and sleek. My only gripe is that the faceplate is not removable. Since I park in the street I have to leave my Malaysian Fighting Trout in his bowl on the dash to protect it while I sleep. He'll cut a sucka what tries to abscond with my tunes... I really couldn't be much happier with my purchase. The price was great for all the features, too. I'm honestly glad I found it.

Pros: Modern look; flawless bluetooth functionality; pretty easy to use; good price and good name

Cons: Non-removable faceplate; not waterproof for when my security system has to splash around to do his job; clock function is weird for me during playback.

    2004 Ford Ranger
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This head unit has been installed for about 2 weeks in my 2004 Ford Ranger XLT. Time was taken to solder the connections and insulate with heat-shrink tubing, which was simple enough as the adapter wiring and the Sony unit's wiring were well matched color wise and the Sony unit wiring disconnected from the unit with a simple plug. Installation was more difficult than anticipated as there were conditions that occurred in the Ranger's radio bay that do not appear in the installation instructions, such as the screws securing the dash bezel intrude into the space occupied by the new head unit and must be shortened. Removing the Ranger's bezel is recommended and then make the necessary modifications to it on a work bench. The use of the Dremel in the vehicle creates an awful mess. The installation kit included with this unit has exposed trim that marred the bezel when pressed into place. The unit itself has a light hiss of static in the radio. Crutchfield's tech assistance thought it was no big deal if it couldn't be heard while driving while admitting it shouldn't be there. Even with the microphone gain set at maximum, people on the other end of the conversation have difficulty hearing me unless I speak abnormally loud. I like the large letter display, even if it is a single line. Button characters as especially small and difficult to read from the driver's position. CD playback sound quality is excellent. Light color closely mimics the dash lights. Operator manual a must use!

Pros: Excellent sound. Fairly intuitive controls for most functions. Large display letters. Installation kit is complete with wiring and component parts. Perfect wiring fit.

Cons: Not an easy install. Installation instructions incomplete and installer must be able to make adjustments "on the fly". Noticeable low static hiss in the radio at low volume settings. Required trimming of bezel will require replacement of this part if you ever want to reinstall the original unit. I could care less about any "cool factor".

    2006 Ford Fusion
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is well worth the money. The installation was very simple. Everything works as it should. BT for phone works well and hands free sounds good. I didn't realize the loss in sound quality in streaming music through BT so I only use the aux input. That's not the fault of the unit. Nice EQ and overall sound. I would like the display to have more lines and smaller font so that more info could be seen at once. It integrated nicely with the steering wheel controls in my 2006 Ford Fusion. This was my first aftermarket stereo in several years and I didn't want to spend a lot. It sounds good and I'm using my Samsung Galaxy 5 for most of my music. I am very pleased with the value and Crutchfield support is stellar!

Pros: Value. Sound Quality. Looks great in the dash. Works great with steering wheel controls and Bluetooth.

Cons: The text display could be better.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have installed this head unit into two of my cars at this point and have to say it performs well across the board. Great sound quality with Sony's signature preference for bass-driven systems. Easy to navigate once you familiarize yourself with the controls and the color variations allows you to match the color of the stereo to mirror any interior lighting; this was my favorite part, as I love a stock look. All in all, this little Sony performs well, sounds great, and offers great looks, all in an inexpensive package.

Pros: Sound Build Quality Stock look Quality of Sound on bluetooth

Cons: Bluetooth occasionally skips on phone audio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In installed this a few weeks ago and I am very happy with this deck. Easy to install with the Crutchfield instructions. My few complaints with this unit are that the dimmer is does not dim enough in my mind (I like my dash to be super dim at night) but the color changing dimmer helps a lot. There are also a TON of input modes with Bluetooth and you are unable to disable the ones that you don't use so you have to cycle through a lot of unused options to get to the input source you want. I also have a small problem with the Bluetooth voice commands with my phone, and it might be because of how my phone is set up. My Windows Phone has most of the voice commands independent from a particular category, So if I am listening to BT audio, and I make a voice text or voice call, I have to set the deck back to BT audio, it will not seamlessly change back to my previous audio when the voice is done. If an incoming call or text comes in, the deck will revert back to where it was. The setup can be somewhat lengthy and is not as user friendly as I would hope, but what do you expect with many advanced features that I have never had in a deck before. Other than that, the sound is great and the equalizer has enough presets to satisfy my needs. It plays my CDs and gets good radio reception. It is a great unit for the price I paid for it. I am 95% satisfied with this unit.

Pros: Great sound and lots of features

Cons: Bluetooth is not quite as streamlined as I would like, but it could be my phone. Setup and configuration is lengthy.

    1997 F-150 Replacement

Jim H from Washington on 10/4/2015

    1997 Ford F-150
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this for a replacement for my 1997 F-150. I needed am/fm,CD and USB functions. This was a good choice. I really enjoy the sound quality with my original speakers. Installation was straight forward but time consuming and difficult. You must carefully cut away parts of the dash after the old radio is out. If you cut too much, you can't easily cover it up or fix it, so be very careful. I have installed many radios in assorted vehicle over the past 30 years(not my full time job), and this installation took me 3 hours. Be prepared. The installation is not for a beginner or first time installer. Beware. After all of this, I am still happy with this purchase. I used the wiring kit and the dash kit. Do not try this without these components. The end result will be much more professional and your installation will be much less frustrating.

Pros: Great sound. Much better than my factory system. Sony is a good name with a quality product.

Cons: It is difficult to install (1997 F-150) requiring major sub dash surgery. Be prepared to spend some time to install correctly in a similar application. I find that it has too many functions. Many more than I will need or use. It takes a while to learn all the functions and how to get from one source to the other. It probably doesn't need so many color/display functions.

Great head unit with tons of features. Took about a day to get used to the menu style and the buttons, but once you know what each one does and where stuff is, it's actually quite intuitive. Screen is nice and big. Sounds and looks great in my 02 mustang gt. Matches the interior well and is plenty loud. Also, the seven band equalizer works really well to tune the unit with my stock Mach system. Good unit, would recommend it to anyone looking for a little more quality and better sound than a low end head unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wanted a new stereo for my Subaru Forester, and started out at the local car audio place here in town...by the time everything was purchased and installed, the quote was for over $1100.00 dollars..I figured there had to be a better way, so I found Crutchfield online. I waffled around several options, before finally settling on this one, as it seemed to have better Android integration than some of the others at this price point. Overall, it seems to work well, the sound quality is good (although folks say that it sounds "buzzy" when I'm talking through the Bluetooth mic)...for someone who has no technical or mechanical skills, I was able to wire the harness, take my dash apart, install the unit and put everything back together again in about 2 hours. Online videos helped a lot. Two things - #1 - price of the unit just went down $30.00 fro when I bought just a couple of weeks ago...does Crutchfield do price adjustments like a brick and mortar retailer would? #2 - The website told me to buy an antenna adapter...that was not necessary. The antenna plug from my Subaru fit into the unit with no problem and the tuner works perfectly.

Pros: Easy to install, feature rich, cool colors, good sound

Cons: Dim display in full daylight, the buttons feel cheap, and Crutchfield sold me a product that I did not need for the install

Crutchfield response on 9/14/2015 Thanks for the review. I see where our Customer Support team has responded to your price drop question and the antenna adapter. Thanks for letting us know about the antenna adapter. That's very helpful to both us and our customers. Please know our research team is re-reviewing those details. It's possible there was something unique with your vehicle. You also mentioned that you sound "buzzy" when talking on your Bluetooth. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the stock receiver in my 2005 Tahoe with this unit and it's great. Installation was easy and it sound great. The bluetooth picked up my iPhone right away and that works great too. I got a 4gig stubby USB memory stick for MP3s - that works great too. Easy to install, great sound, more features that I could ever use - what more could I ask (oh, I got it on sale - there is that too). One star off for 'ease of use' - there are so many features that it takes a bit to learn your way around (lots of features is a double edged sword).

Pros: Easy to install, great sound, tons of features.

Cons: I guess if it was free.

All the options, aftermarket wiring was a little intimidating at first but Crutchfield supplied all the necessary instructions. Installed in a 2008 Dodge Ram. I had to revise the radio bezel which took about 1/2 hour and Crutchfield supplied the new trim.

Pros: Neat, clean look. The color options match the existing dash lights which makes it appear factory.

Cons: The radio controls are a little difficult to navigate but after three days it became easy to go from one mode to another.

Pros: Aesthetic, Ease of Use, Functionality, Sound Quality

Cons: None. Price maybe, but even so it's pretty fair.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Looks good and menus are easy to follow. Sound is excellent with lots of customization. Rear bass enhancement puts extra punch in your rear speakers, which is great if you don't have a sub. Software allows you to position the sound, by delaying the rear speakers a few milliseconds to make the music sound like it is the middle of the car. Usb and Pandora work great, even charges the phone, iPhone or Android. MP3 ads get a boost from digital music enhancement, which bump up the lows and highs that are usually lost by compression. Button feel sturdy, quality build.

    Pros: Sound, sub, Pandora

Cons: Equalizer adjustment is weird in that you select 1 of the 7 bands and then adjust it up or down, then back up in the menu and move to another band to adjust it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A very nice replacement for the factory dash unit in my 2005 Mustang. Not too difficult to install. I had to call for help one time due to a wiring question. A small amount of soldering required on the combining of the 2 wiring harness adapters. Pretty easy, since it can be done on the bench before dash installation. I used all the recommended adapters and harnesses. The side wings on the unit were a little difficult to attach, you have to push down really hard while screwing in. The microphone wire is kind of a pain to run under the pillar cover so that it is unseen, but it is worth installing. The handsfree calling is a nice feature! Once installed, the unit looks great in the dash. I don't know if I did something wrong, but my radio illumination doesn't dim with my vehicle dimmer, or when I turn on my lights. I'm not going to open up my dash again to remedy that! This unit sounds great and works very well with my factory speakers, subwoofers and amps. (shaker 500 system). One thing I don't like is that the display simultaneously doesn't show the time of day with the other info, like tuner station or cd info. If you want the time of day displayed, it is all you get on the display. Overall, this product was pretty easy to install and it sounds great!

Pros: Great sound, colorful display, not too difficult to install.

Cons: Display shows only time of day or source functions separately, not together. A little tedious to navigate through the menus to adjust tone settings.

Its worth what it costs. Its a good unit, looks like its geared a little toward 16- 20 year olds. Most of the custom features/settings are a little gimmicky, IE: The millions of colors to choose from, how easy it is to set the pre-loaded eq settings but difficult to make a custom one, its pretty much plug and play. Sounds good, i wouldn't recommend for anyone wanting to add an amp for your speakers and subs, seems like it would take a lot of effort to get to sound right if you were trying to build an entire system. But perfect for someone who just wants a new, easy to use, headuint with all the new features (BT, iphone, etc)

    Pros: Plug and play

Cons: difficult to really customize audio

I read many reviews before I purchased this unit. Most of them talked about the difficulty they had navigating through the menu and the clock display being hard to see. I have not had any problem with any of it. If you take you time with the manual, and just be patient with the operation of the menu, it really becomes easy to navigate in a short amount of time.

Pros: Awesome sound. Bluetooth operation is quick and seamless. Display looks very cool. Plenty of expansion options for upgrading your system. Everything it was designed to do, it does very well.

    Cons: None

I have always been a Sony fan boy ever since my first Walkman. I installed this in a '99 Ranger with a extended cab and pair it up with 4 Pioneer TS-A6885R 4 way speakers. Awesome highs and lows all the way around. Works great with my Sony Z3V phone, too. Audio files from the phone play well. I made sure this supported Aux inputs, but the sound over wireless is near perfect, haven't even cared to test over Aux it yet. Make sure your phone supports A2DP. I don't bother with the remote that came with the stereo, since I can do it all from my phone with the Remote app(you don't need a Sony phone, just an Android OS). The remote app lets you add just about anything that you want as an audio source. I am currently using the Walkman and Audible apps. There are a ton of settings and I still haven't been through them all. Got the color set to match my dash lights, very cool. I still need to see if I can hook up my phone to my PS4 while sitting out in the truck and listen to the PS4 over the stereo while playing some games.

Pros: Great sound and plenty of power. BT phone and audio Easy to install with the wire and dash kit. Remote app.

Cons: Remote app won't completely load all options unless you hold the button on the stereo for a couple seconds until you hear it beep. Would be nice just to have it all once Bluetooth connects. Setting the equalizer can be pain. You have to select the band on the dial, press to select, adjust, back out, select the next, etc... and you can only see one setting at a time. Presets come in handy.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This head unit is decent, but it's not amazing. Most of the interface limitations are the result of the single-line display. The options for browsing USB drives/iOS devices are very limited and clunky (the default way of browsing iPod libraries is by album). While it has a lot of audio options, in my vehicle, they seemed a little gimmicky. The stereo definitely beat the stock Honda HU in terms of clarity at low volumes, but it also got muddy very quickly when the volume and bass frequencies came up. On that note, the EQ interface is strange--it displays the frequencies you're adjusting as "Band 1," "Band 2," etc.--the manual does list what each band is in Hz, but why Sony doesn't have that display on the unit instead of "Band 1" is beyond me. Bluetooth streaming audio was very low quality compared to a USB connection. Obviously USB will be better in most situations, but I've used other stereos where the differences, especially in a car, were negligible. Bluetooth calling quality was also mediocre.

Pros: Easy to install, quick startup.

    Cons: Single-line display, clunky interface.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit because I had a very similar unit in my Jeep and was fairly satisfied with it. It has exceptional hands free smart phone sound quality both incoming and outgoing. The sound quality of the unit is very good without getting a custom set up. I have had some issues with this unit so far. It has cut out several times for a second then come right back on, however I do live in WV where the roads are not the smoothest in the lower 48. I let my Sirius account lapse, but the unit didn't come with an adapter to allow me to plug the Ram Sirius cable into the rear of the unit. Crutchfield does a decent job of organizing what you need for self install but they dropped the ball on the Sirius connect, The controls could be more intuitive but you get used to them. I also lost my clock interface on my dashboard.

Pros: Hands free smart phone capability is exceptional and way better than most dealer installed units. The sound quality is very good and I don't think can be beat unless you go 'high end.'

Cons: The default mode is the demo mode and any issues lead back to this mode. Controls could be more intuitive.

I was looking for a subdued/stock looking faceplate compared to some of the other stereos on the market with great sound and aux input capabilities. I installed this stereo with Kicker speakers/tweeters in my 2006 GMC Sierra. No dash modifications required. Steering wheel controls work perfect w/ Metra ASWC-1 adapter. Original Metra LC-GMRC-01 connection/chimes adapter did not allow stereo lighting to automatically dim with headlights turned on. Crutchfield quickly researched/shipped replacement (Crux SOCGM-17).lights dim properly now. Even with lighting properly dimmed, volume knob ring & call button are very bright at night. Blacked out volume knob ring with black felt-type material and used small square of electrical tape on call button face. Inconspicuous fix, looks factory much easier on the eyes at night (can be adjusted with darker color option also).

Pros: Top-notch customer tech support. Easy install. Multiple color options to match stock dash lighting. Front USB/Aux input. Stock appearance.

Cons: Bright volume knob/call button lighting. Does not display clock and RDS information at same time, must toggle between displays.

Pros: Fits, color match the OEM dash lights, great sound and control.

Cons: The EQ adjustment the app shows will not work. Not sure if Sony is doing an update or the app just does not work well with the iPhone 5.

Pros: Looks unique, has a big volume knob, easy to remember button layout. Sounds good, has the app remote option for control over the unit from a phon.

Cons: Display is rather dim in the desert sun, and I have yet to find anything about adjusting brightness, only the dimmer option. Sometimes loses connection with the phone and says no device, even if the phone says it is connected.

I love this receiver except.........the insanely bright display. Especially the back-lighting behind the knob that controls every single function. There is an infinite amount of adjustment and sound tailoring. You can set this receiver up with amps and subs........you don't need anything else. All the crossovers are built in along with a 7 band EQ which is assignable for every source. I know it sounds like this is the perfect non-nav receiver and it could be.......except for that bright display. I have it connected correctly with the orange wire to the orange wire and the display Does dim when the headlights come on, just not enough. I think it is gonna be a deal breaker for me. If it is installed lower in a dash it may be ok but I have it in a Wrangler which has the radio mounted very high, just an inch or so below the top of the dash and it is like driving with a light shined in your eyes. I actually drive with my hand covering the display. I cannot recommend this receiver based solely on the brightness of the display.

Pros: Great sound, complete adjustability, ability to be the center of your high end system with no outboard crossovers or EQ needed. Nice look during the day.

Cons: Insanely bright display. So bright that it is going back. Lack of basic bass and treble controls. All SQ adjustments have to be with a 7 band EQ or by using pre-set curves. Teh & band EQ is almost worthless without a spectrum analyzer to see what your adjustments are doing.

After initial installation, which was fairly straight forward, we noticed that the volume control knob did not respond. You could turn the knob, but nothing happened with the volume. You could push the knob, which would prompt a response, but turning the knob did not provide any adjustment options. It was as if the stereo/radio didn't even have a knob. The remote control could be used to control the volume, but the remote couldn't be used for making appropriate settings. So, Crutchfield promptly replaced the first one. After installing the 2nd unit, about a week later the control knob began failing again. It would work intermittently, but eventually stopped working altogether. Again, Crutchfield quickly replaced this unit and I decided to go with an entirely different brand. While most of the reviews on this unit have been positive, the brand/unit has production flaws. I read some similar reviews that experienced this same problem.

Pros: Good sound quality with good options (USB, AUX inputs, Satellite) for the price.

Install is standard. Disclaimer: fronts/sub going through an amp, rears off receiver. Coming from a Pioneer (AppRadio 2) I was disappointed to only have +-6 dB of adjustment in the EQ. At first I was convinced the EQ adjustments weren't doing anything. It was only after I listened with much more focus that I could tell subtle differences. On any stereo i've ever head you could push the bass so high it was muddled and so low it sounded like tweeters only. Not with this unit, only a small change from middle-ground. Radio does sound much better than my previous unit. One annoyance is that the unit advertises smart phone control over inputs, apps, etc. The caveat (listed in the manual) is that you cannot have this control and BT audio. Using BT audio kills any of this integration. That is a pretty big omission from the marketing materials if you ask me. I may end up running a short AUX cable, but I really rather not have one more wire dangling off my phone and have to connect/reconnect just to get that functionality. Another note for people planning to use their smartphone. You don't need the USB cable (which does charge your phone) connection to the HU to switch tracks and pause on apps like Spotify that support those commands over bluetooth. Saves a step on short trips.

Pros: Looks great for a double-DIN w/o LCD BT audio sounds great

Cons: No simultaneous BT audio and smartphone control EQ adjustments seem to have a very small range of adjustment

Honda Pilot 2004 w/ Navigation Installation - Once I found the mounting kit (Metra 95-7861) online, everything fit well. Still needed to purchase some metric screws for the installation, the screws provided by Sony were too short. I am little sad that an installation kit was not supplied by Crutchfield. The existing navigation still works, the only loss is the audio output of the navigation. Brought a 2004 Pilot back to life by now having Pandora, Bluetooth, External Input and USB connection for iPhone control. Nice stereo! Car looks much better now that the aftermarket Bluetooth phone interface and Sirrus FM modulator are both gone. Well worth the investment in time and money.

This is a great deck, it does all i need it to do and then some, its also very easy to connect to via Bluetooth, it recognizes my S3 in a matter of seconds, so its very convenient when i choose to expose myself to microwave radiation, but jokes aside, i would like to note a few things i would do different if i ran sony, for one the display is not well thought out, not only does it not take advantage of the relatively large display by only offering you one tiny line, it also does not display vital information such as for example which radio channel you are tuned in to, you would have to manually find out by either changing the channel or manage to press the right key if you have the channel saved in order to avoid changing it to figure out, cosmetically i would also prefer if the background of the interface did not change color and stayed black, it would look so much neater and also more easily visible, but possibly the most annoying future of all is the frequent advertising of all the decks futures once the deck is not in use for a few minutes, it automatically shifts from color to color informing you of all the decks futures; Bluetooth, Aux, multicolored interface...etc, as if you already didn't know? I would like to know if these futures can be changed but i have not seen any information regarding these annoying futures even after going through the manual. Aside from all of those listed above, this thing makes a great deck with more futures than you could possibly need.

Pros: Easy BT Connectivity colors Aux and USB Sound quality and futures Great looking deck

Installation was not too bad - a little tight with all the extra aftermarket boxes needed to interface with Toyota factory sound system. I can't complain about the audio performance. I am not what I'd call an "audiophile" with refined tastes or keen awareness of clipping or fidelity - can't hear this with road noise anyhow, but it's plenty capable connected to the factory JBL sound system. Hint: you can easily cycle through the "sources" - like all eight or whatever there are - by pressing "source" and turning the volume knob. I spent a few months clicking "Source" 8 or 9 times to switch from "tuner" to "Sirius" before I figured that out. Tuner is clearly an improvement over the factory tuner, which had issues even with some more local stations.

Pros: My wife and daughter are fond of the colors ("rainbow" setting cycles through a bunch of pretty ones) but unfortunately none of them are sunlight viewable (see "Cons"). The Android app is nifty but I rarely use it - doesn't do a lot in with this receiver (look on Google Play to see which models it supports best - pay attention to the asterisks). The Jazz Standard and Blues Sirius channels sound great - mostly what I listen to.

Cons: The worst issue is reading the display in daylight. Between faint colors and glare, it's a real challenge. Others refer to complexity of controls - I have given up on trying to select equalizer presets while driving (which is usually when I'd like to try a different one). If only the "App Remote" had this capability (it doesn't). There are some interesting settings for optimizing the sound for selected locations in the vehicle, but you can't hardly cycle between settings to note any difference.

I first purchased this radio as it was a double din radio with Sirius/Xm capability. During the first year it performed fine. My needs were fairly simple as I don't need all the additional features such as the Bluetooth and pandora capabilities. After the warranty expired the selected color wouldn't remain on the display and it started flashing different colors and the various features scrolled across the screen-just like it was in the demo mode. After resetting the color it would only last for several days. I recently switched it to another car hoping it would correct the problem. The problem continues and has increased in frequency to at least daily-some times several times an hour. After a week in the second car, the wife has asked for another radio. Calls to both Crutchfield and Sony haven't solved the problem. Both have indicated they have no record of any similar problems. The Sony quality isn't what it used to be. Time to order another radio after 1 1/2 years- this time it won't be a Sony.

Pros: Double din and Sirius capability

Cons: reverts to demo mode while driving

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All in all, it's a great product. I replaced a stock radio in a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. It was simple to install. Only knock I have on the product itself is the fact that Bluetooth devices have to be reconnected each time the radio / vehicle is turned off. I haven't used aftermarket Bluetooth products in the past but my previous experience with stock systems did not disconnect the device and require re-connection, basically starting over to include display settings. Once reconnected, the song display resets and requires some navigation through the display preferences to get back to where it was. The product offers a ton of color combinations. The equalizer preferences were a little difficult to adjust. That is the only component of the operating manual that I found to be a bit vague.

    Pros: Fit, appearance, and features

    Cons: Personalized equalizer settings

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sounding system. It looks great in my Hyundai Veracruz. It will take a little more reading of the manual to understand all of the features of this system. I purchased an XM add on module and a Maestro (to keep the steering wheel controls).Install was straight forward except the Maestro. The instructions (form the Maestro website, not Crutchfield) had me connecting two wires to the A5 and A6 6 pin connectors. Problem is, I didn't have any 6 pin connectors. I called Crutchfield and once again their tech support came through. They searched through Vehicle wiring diagrams and other vendors steering wheel control modules to figure it out. Once the tech figured it out, he offered to stay on the phone with me while I wired it up and tested it out!. I had a few crimping issues (tight in the dash) but he was patient. Once I got everything connected, I powered it on and everything worked perfectly. Kudos to Crutchfield's Tech staff once again. I won't buy a car stereo anywhere but here. I am confident that no company out there provides better customer service and Tech Support than Crutchfield.

Pros: Great looking system and over the top Tech support/customer service.

    Cons: None yet.

This stereo does everything, that's both good and bad. The biggest issue I had with it, really the only issue is with it being set up to do everything it is a bit complicated to control. Once I get used to it it will be easier. I wish they gave you the option to cut items out of source menu if you are not going to use them. It looks good, sounds good and does everything I want. The installation was straightforward. I may yet find ways to make it fit my needs better I have only been using it a couple of days.

    2004 Chevrolet Tahoe
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like the unit for how well it works. I decided to write this review because the main selling point for this unit versus any others that I looked at was the ability to control Pandora via Bluetooth with an android device. The description clearly stated that you could control Pandora from your android phone using the head unit controls with the Bluetooth synced up. You can only pause and skip from the head unit. You cannot "like", "unlike" or change Pandora stations or any other functions that you would normally be able to do from the app on the phone. In addition to that you cannot perform these functions at the phone because it is in "accessory" mode which does not allow you to work the app on the phone. You can only quit the app in this mode. The description on the Crutchfield web site did not clarify this and the manual states "some functions may not be usable". It is frustrating to have to stay on one station. there are enough buttons on the unit that I would think that these functions could have been easily added to the head unit. Also, all of the people I have tried the hands free phone calling with have a hard time hearing / understanding me. I would return the unit but already spent the money to have it professionally installed and do not want to pay to have it done again. Should have read the manual on functionality before having it installed.

Pros: Works well and has a lot of abilities to hook up just about anything you could ever dream of as some type of AUX or USB or Bluetooth.

Cons: Cannot control Pandora with the same functionality as the app on an android device. Cannot like / dislike a song or change stations. I agree with a lot of other reviews that it seems like you have to scroll through a lot of "sources" to get back to tuner or get to other sources.

I'm quite happy with this unit. I wanted something that worked with my stock speakers, fit in a double DIN space and had great bluetooth integration. This Sony unit delivered all of those. It was fairly straightforward to install and the included mic has good quality for handsfree calls over bluetooth. The Sony Android remote app is actually quite useful - give the control dial on the face a long press and it automatically signals your phone to bring up the remote app which allows you to control the inputs via your phone or to launch a music app like Google Play Music or Rdio. I don't use the built-in Pandora integration but there's special support to allow you to control Pandora from the unit controls without having to use your phone while driving. There are also a lot of feature for adjusting the sound quality like an EQ with both preset and custom settings, loudness control and other Sony features like Sony's DM+ that improves high frequency response for digitally compressed music. Installation was easy with the included adapter kit and faceplate. My installation looks perfect even though this was the first time I've installed a car stereo. Overall I'm

I bought this for my 2009 Civic. I wanted something that looked better than the previous owner's single-din stereo (he had switched out the OEM radio). Plus it needed to have SiriusXM, which is what I listen to the most. The Sony looks really nice. Much more of a OEM feel. To see the display during the day in sunlight, I have the color set to white and the dimmer off. For night time, I have the dimmer on and select blue. So I have to change those settings every time, but I'm used to it. Apparently you can run a wire to sync with the headlights, but I don't mind the way I'm doing it. This was my first Crutchfield purchase, and I was happy with the experience. I even got a nice handwritten thank you card from them. I will be ordering more from Crutchfield in the future.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

With the amount of time I spend in the car, should have replaced the stock deck in my Tahoe years ago - this thing is fantastic and makes driving a little less burdensome. Bluetooth connects quickly, controls are intuitive, and it pauses whatever audio source you're on when a call comes in, and resumes where you left off after the call. Inexpensive unit, and compared to my last deck in the late 80s, this one would have cost $5,000 back then if it were available. Makes me want to spring for a Sub and an Amp next, and maybe upgrade the stock speakers. The Crutchfield purchase was easy. I had question about retaining my OnStar and Steering Wheel controls, and the Rep quickly figured out witch add-on harness I needed, and didn't try to up-sell me to the $95 unit. Even noticed I was missing the wire connectors on my order, and remotely popped a package into my cart.

Pros: Easy install. Fit my 2005 Tahoe double DIN space with no modifications. The pig tail harness wire colors from the deck all matched the OnStar harness wire colors, so connecting was easy. I have big hands, and I have no problem operating the buttons, as some have indicated in other reviews. The factory speakers sound quite a bit better.

Cons: None I've really noticed. It does what it's supposed to do, and for the money you really can't complain.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this unit for 7 months and couldn't be happier. I routinely upgrade my car audio systems every other year, or as often as the new technology becomes a must have. Often I regret not waiting a little longer for the next jump in tech, but not this time. With the exception of the Sony remote app's occasional failures and annoyances, this is an amazing head unit. The RB enhancer(switch your rear speakers to subs) is very cool. I am absolutely amazed with the quality of sound difference through my stock speakers. Everyone from Snoop Dogg, Vivaldi,Gary Clark Jr.,to Rob Zombie gets optimum sound through a couple of tweaks on the unit. The sound quality is taking the Crutchfield allotted $ for new speakers, amp and subwoofer, and redirecting(some of it) towards the exact same unit in my wife's '07 VW Rabbit today. That's right, it's so darn good, I'm buying it again. As far as the touch screen units? I've used them, and am not impressed. I still need tactile buttons, and probably always will,(I'm over fifty, so there's that). Once again, 100% happy with yet another of my 15 years Crutchfield purchases.

Pros: Amazing sound, even through stock speakers. Bluetooth performance is flawless. RB Enhancer(switch you rear speakers to subs) is greatest thing since the invention of the electric guitar. More features than I can possibly play with while stuck in traffic. Easy install, as they all are with Crutchfield tech support at my back. I've done at least 10 with their help.Sometimes I call just to test them(Kidding guys, I would never do that).

Cons: Sony remote app works well 95% of the time. Display could be a bit larger(but I've got bifocals coming any day now, so there's that).

    2002 Honda Accord
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a sub $200 unit to replace the factory unit in my 2002 Honda Accord. The main feature i was looking for was Bluetooth connectivity for my cell phone so that i could use it hands free in the car. I was also looking for double-din units since that would fit the space best (although you could also fit a single din unit in the same space. I just thought that the double din would look better and it does look great). I narrowed my search down to the JVC KW-R910BT, Pioneer FH-X700BT, and this Sony unit. Even though the JVC is technically more powerful, i discounted that unit and the Pioneer based on the negative comments about the illumination and the crazy light shows which were difficult to turn off or turn down according to the reviews. The fancy illumination appears to be a popular feature with these units but i wasn't interested in that and although you have a lot of illumination options with the Sony unit, you also have the ability to pick just one normal color which is what i was looking for. As for the Bluetooth, it works fine. Very easy to pair with my Android phone and connects immediately every time i get in the car and turn on the radio and the sound quality of the BT is fine. Sound quality of the stereo is excellent. It immediately improves the sound of factory speakers 10 fold. The unit looks great and buttons are well laid out.

Pros: Looks and sounds great. I found the menu easier to use than other units from other manufactures. Although if you are new to this type of menu, it will take some getting used to. Bluetooth is very easy to set up and use. Installation was standard. The most difficult part of the installation was running the BT mic to the visor. I would recommend doing this step before securing the radio to the chassis and starting at the visor or steering column and running it back to the unit.

Cons: Display can be difficult to see in daylight, although changing the illumination color might help.

Bluetooth audio and calling from Nexus 5 works very well. My wife thought I sounded "far away" on calls. I may need to adjust mic placement or adjust some settings. The display is a little difficult to see in direct sunlight as other reviewers have noted. Some colors, however, are affected much more than others. This receiver is fairly nice and installation was fairly straight forward. I do have a couple of issues though: #1) Radio reception has diminished GREATLY from the stock unit. Local radio stations have lots of static and reception when travelling between towns is almost non-existent. #2) I stream a lot from my phone to the receiver. This works very well, except there are frequently split-second breaks in the stream. It doesn't matter which app nor does it matter if the music is local on my phone or if I am steaming from the internet.

Pros: -easy installation -configurable colors to match the rest of your vehicle -bluetooth

Cons: -bad reception -occasional breaks while streaming via bluetooth

I had been a die hard Pioneer fan for over a decade, but when my factory unit ate 2 of my CDs, I gave this Sony a try based on its wealth of features, strong reviews and killer price. No other unit I considered had as many source options at this price. I needed a double DIN unit with Bluetooth and Android compatibility for driving crowded New Jersey roads and satellite radio for family trips. The Sony does it all with great sound. Even with the factory speakers still installed, the improvement in both volume and sound quality over the factory unit is profound. I can even use the head unit's sound shaping tools like the LPF and level control to dial in the factory sub. As an Android user, I have wireless Pandora control and I even discovered that I can play games on my phone in full stereo with the "BT Audio" setting (not that I would EVER do such a thing at work...). With the included mic mounted just next to my steering column, BT phone calls sound crystal clear on both ends. It's not perfect, of course. With only one line of text, reading all of a song's info requires multiple button presses to "scroll thru" fields (Title, Artist, Album, etc), and you can't display the clock while displaying other info. Also, puzzlingly, the unit doesn't automatically revert to its previous source after ending a phone call. Despite its few quirks, I'm sold on the overall quality of this Sony. I definitely will not overlook other Sony units in future purchases.

Pros: Awesome sound; tons of sources; great sound; foolproof Android compatibility; myriad sound-shaping tools; impressive build quality... Did I mention how good it sounds??

Cons: Display is useless in bright, direct sunlight; single line display not as slick as other units available; navigating menus and sub-menus takes time, not to be done while driving; scrolling through tons of sources takes heaps of time

Do you want a somewhat simple stereo that maybe has a few bells and/or whistles? This thing is great for that. Has radio, cd, bluetooth with audio streaming, and front usb and stereo plug. I set the color to pink for my wife, she plugged her ipod in for tunes, and when I call her I can know that she isn't holding the phone to her ear trying to navigate through traffic one handed. Sound quality is awesome, phone quality is too. I've had other Bluetooth stereos, this connects fast, sounds good, and is problem free.

Pros: Fits my needs, good price, doesn't have anything I don't need ($$$ Navigation, $$ Backup cam, $$$$ DVD). Big volume knob is nice too. Colors aren't too bright and annoying.

Cons: I wish the clock would randomly display by itself. I currently either have to have only the clock, or only the tracks. And must manually push a button for clock.

The stereo was to replace my 10 year old Sony single din stereo. Primary reason for upgrade: front USB input, iPod control and Bluetooth streaming - don't care about phone usage but want to be able to stream radio from the phone over Bluetooth. It fits nicely but you really do need factory mounting brackets or aftermarket brackets for 2 din stereos. What Crutchfield supplies is only good for single din. Very important for me was the feature that you can turn and off bluetooth without going through all the menus - I'm not intending to use it for hands free calling, so I don't need my phone to be connected to it unless I'm ready to stream music over bluetooth.

Pros: *It appears to be very solid stereo (I only used it for a week so far) but it feels right. *Easy to install and sound quality is at least as good as the one I had before. It is priced lower than most of the other 2 din stereos and if it lasts as long as my previous Sony 10+ years, I'll be happy *It's got tons of functions and I haven't tried all of them yet.

Cons: Getting to functions is not very easy - often, you have to go through a number of menus before getting to where you need to be - Sony should have done more dedicated buttons for audio controls at least The one line display is ridiculous! 3/4 of display is used for static mostly empty fields and all the information is provided on one line - second from the bottom The display is absolutely "blind" when it's sunny outside. You can't see the clock or any of the information displayed there.

What a great little unit! Packing a punch for the better than average listener - why do you need all that power? I matched this unit up with a Kenwood powered subwoofer and a set of 4 Rockford Punch speakers, and this dude is more than happy! Best part, I had to install in stages. Unstalling the head unit first, I was amazed how much better the car system sounded. If all you have to spend is a couple hundred bucks, this is the place to start.

Pros: Lots of features packed into one package. After a couple months of use, the top of the list is flexibility (can be run alone, powered subwoofer (like I did) or as a pre-amp to a full amp set-up. Internal power for main speakers is plenty clean for my ears. Having a 7-band EQ is awsome to fine-tune, and the listener position is great too. When activated, the sound seems to come from everywhere! Perfectly balanced.

Cons: Hard to get used to the navigation at first - but once the pattern is figured out, it's not hard to operate.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After two months of reviewing products, including waiting a month for this stereo to be in stock I purchased this stereo to replace the factory one in a 2007 Honda Pilot. Didn't purchase the steering wheel controls and kept the stock speakers in the vehicle. Didn't want to deal with installing so I had a local shop install the stereo (worth every penny). Love how much better the sound quality is with the Sony even with the factory speakers. Didn't have any issues with working through the menus, (downloaded the manual from Sony), and have thoroughly enjoyed the expanded listening options at my fingertips (CD, Radio, Ipod Touch 5, HTC One phone using Pandora and Tune-In, and a 32 GB USB drive). I had considered purchasing either Sirius or XM, but with this stereos features it would be redundant. Additionally the Bluetooth, hands free calling has been an unexpected pleasure as well.

Pros: Great sound. Easy Use. Plenty of listening options.

Cons: The display as mentioned by several other reviews can be difficult to view during the day, depending on the sun. Also, difficult to read during day with sunglasses on.

Very surprised after some reviews, but AMAZING stereo! I purchased this radio to replace the factory stereo and I needed Bluetooth and Sirius XM features. I ordered everything from Crutchfield for the first time and loved the fact it came with everything I possibly needed. INSTALL: I received it and began the hookup. Right off the bat, I could see the new harness had no where near the same amount of wires coming out of it.. . as it did coming in from the factory harness. That concerned me. There was also a few colored wires, that I know I needed, wrapped off and labeled Navigation System which I didn't have. At this point I did a bunch of research online and downloaded the wire info and tried to cross the car wires with the harness wires before installing. After about 45 minutes of getting frustrated, I just decided to use the Red and Orange wires that were tied off for the Navigation system. Once I made that choice, it took me about 2 minutes to tie all the wires together and fire up the radio. It turned right on. I turned the key off on the car and off goes the radio. I turned the lights on and off and the radio dimmed accordingly. I was shocked! I didn't expect everything to work due to the fact that most of the wires from the main harness were not even needed. FEATURES: Everything worked perfect. Bluetooth remembers phones, unlike other comments. SiriusXM works perfect. Pandora is amazing. 5/5 Stars for sure!

Pros: - Very easy to install using the supplied harness from Crutchfield - Remote and Sony App which is fun to play with. Shows all details on a nice display of tune station, or SiriusXM info. Can change channels, adjust volume.. and much more. - Color match to my dashboard a bonus! - Loud! It has great power, that's for sure. I have it turned on to allow the backspeakers to act like a sub, so more bass goes there. Feature works perfect. -

Cons: - Confused with main red and orange wires tied off as Navigation, but after I figured that part out, EASY INSTALL! (moments later, it was installed) - Mounting plate will be very tight. It will not be an easy removal to add to the system. I may actually have to break the bracket and just order another one to reinstall.

    Less than I expected.

I chose the Sony WX-GT90BT to replace the factory radio in my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee after a lot of careful research. So far I am only moderately satisfied and probably should done more research. This radio has plenty of functions that just overload the user. Menus are extensive and not especially intuitive. Installation was a nightmare. I was sent the wrong instructions, such as they are, leading to more confusion. The steering controls and SIRIUS are working but Blue Tooth Hands Free is not. I would not take on this project again and would not recommend to a friend unless he is an electronics engineer.

Pros: Highly featured, typical Sony fit and finish (meaning excellent), nice looking unit overall and plenty of features.

Cons: Does not align with the slight tumble home of the dash. Menues are not intuitive, some terms and acronyms are confusing.

Darryl from Edgewater, NJ on 2/19/2014

2005 Subaru WRX Wagon. I purchased this head unit last 4th of July weekend, 2013. After numerous compliments since I've had it, I finally felt compelled to write my review. Firstly, this unit is a great value for what you get! Every possible way you can listen to music, this has it, except cassettes. lol. I love being able to listen to all my playlists from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using the bluetooth connectivity. Also, the Sirius, which you need to purchase a separate antenna for, works great. This unit has so many features, and there's definitely a bit of a learning curve here. I spent one afternoon in a parking lot, reading the manual, and messing around with the settings. The settings are endless. Sometimes I wish there was a simple Bass and Treble knob. Less is more. The Bluetooth phone works wonderfully. The microphone picks up your voice clearly. While driving on the highway, I asked my elderly mom if she can hear me clearly, and she said she thought I was calling from my home phone. It was THAT clear, and I have a rather loud sport exhaust too! The sound improvement is significantly improved over the stock stereo. I decided I couldn't stop there, and upgraded all my speakers, and got an amp to power the speakers as well. To say the sound is delightful is an understatement! The ability to exactly match the color of your dash is great too, with infinite color combinations. Just a great looking stereo! You will get compliments from your passengers.

Pros: Great looks. Plays almost every digital music source through various inputs, Sound settings o'plenty. The bluetooth phone works beautifully, and callers hear your voice clearly with no distortion. This may be the best non-touch screen stereo unit out there! It's coming with me when I get my next car! :-)

Cons: A bit of a learning curve to figure out all the numerous settings. I suggest once you get the perfect settings for you, note down somewhere what each of the settings are, just in case, for whatever reason, your battery needs to be disconnected, and all your settings are reset.

I installed this stereo on my 2004 Toyota Corolla LE. Since the car just turned 10 years old recently with only 71,172 miles, I decided that I should give my first car an upgrade after having it for 10 years. Overall quality of the stereo is excellent. Feature is great but the ease of use on the bluetooth for the phone is very annoying that is why I gave it 3 stars.I am use to my wireless bluetooth speaker that when I press the call button it will connect to the phone right away and ready for a voice command. When using the bluetooth phone on this unit, you have to go to source then look for the Bluetooth phone then look for the phonebook then look for the name of your party. Even so if you have a stored name. So the ease of using the phone Bluetooth while driving is an accident waiting to happen because of distraction when dialing. No voice command. While listening to your music you can answer a call with the call button then when you end the call it will not go back to the music you were listening. You have to go to source and select your music thru Tuner or whatever source.

Pros: Good sound quality and the value is excellent. Very easy to install.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was a breeze to install with everything that was included in the package from Crutchfield. The sound is very good and it has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. I am still learning the interface for the EQ custom setup and I am starting to get it down now. The EQ Custom option doesn't feel as intuitive as all of the other controls and customizations. Everything else on this stereo is very good. Ease of BT setup and indication of connection to BT Phone and BT audio separate. Love it. Phone operation is simple and easy setup. Well done all the way around with this deck.

Pros: Ease of setup for BT and all controls other than the EQ Custom.....

Cons: EQ Customization is a little weird to me. More experienced users/installers may disagree.

This is a great radio, especially for the money. It is loaded with features and options that are fantastic. Easy to install, easy to use and easy on the wallet. This is the radio to get if you want to upgrade your current unit and don't want to spend a lot of cash. I would recommend this to anyone.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit does what it promises. It produces good sound at a resonable price. It's easy to install and set up.

Pros: Most of the controls are logically laid out and intuitive. The settings are easy to navigate to set up. It gives a few options on what is to be displayed during use which is nice. Some people are saying the display isn't bright enough to be seen in daylight, but this depends on the color you select for the display. If you use light yellow, it's invisible in day light. If you use a blue or green or even darker warm colors (orange/red/etc) it's pefectly visible in bright light conditions.

Cons: You can't skip unused modes when switching sound input. So if I want to switch from the radio to a CD, I have to scroll through the Pandora option, Ipod option, etc. It would be better if you could remove a completely unused option. The Ipod controls aren't great. It works, but it only lets you skip to the next album, rather than the next playlist or artist. It's 2014. Who groups music by album anymore? You can still easily control the Ipod as normal from the Ipod though so it's not a huge deal.

Great unit for the price. Sounds great in daughters 2005 Cavalier, even without new speakers. Will get those later. Directions were super easy to follow, except for the install kit. I had to call support but they immediately sent a better, actual picture of what needed to be cut off. After unit was in and powered up, I noticed the menu/volume button did not work. Called support again and immediately was told I probably plugged the mic into the wrong slot in the back of radio. The tech knew right away, without looking, what the issue was. Fixed that and everything was working great. Synced IPhone immediately and was using Bluetooth for phone and audio. Phone quality and clarity were amazing. Daughter loves setting background color.

Pros: Great price, easy install. Easy to synch IPhone. Tech support is superb!

Cons: Directions for the install kit are horrible! Get tech support to send picture of exactly what to cut off to your specific car!

While I have only just installed the unit I have found the unit easy to navigate despite other poor reviews for ease of use. The unit is not a touch screen with Icons for every function. If you want that then step up to a touch screen and buy it. For an old fashioned backlight DIN reciever this unit is packed with all the most advanced features at a great price. I have tried the bluetooth for phone calls and my callers said sound quality is great. Pandora with my Andriod Galaxy S4 Active works seemlessly as described in the owners manual. With controls on the unit. Excellent. For those that need a button for every option let me ask you how much real estate is really available on the front of even a double din unit? Come on people just read the darn directions and familarize yourself with the controls. Color for the unit matches my F150 lighting perfectly and I don't find the unit too bright. Plus with Crutchfield mounting plastic and the factory plug how dow you go wrong? Allthough I will say the directions for the plastic DIN mounting bracket from the manufacturer were absolutely lacking. I ran the bluetooth microphone wire up under the headliner and clipped the mic to the liner above the rear view mirror. I then ran the wire for the mike down the drivers side A pillar into the dash, above the steering column and into the reciever compartment. This was the most difficult and time consuming task. There are excellent youtube videos for this out there.

    Pros: Great features low price

Cons: Installation was a little more difficult with bluetooth microphone, but worth it. The DIN bracket came with horrible manufacturer directions.

Got to give it to crutchfield, they make it very easy to replace a factory stereo. This is my second time using crutchfield and great support (which I didn't need) So I bought and installed the Sony WX-GT CD stereo; I installed the stereo in a 2006 Ford F250. The instructions for removal and install was easy (very easy). I also installed the device to keep my controls on my steering wheel functional, which was also very easy to install. For the cost, the sony stereo is worth it! The sound is great, alot of features (maybe to many). The phone is good answer and calling, but a little tricky to use. Pandora worked great from my samsung S4, also used Iheart radio and other radio services from my phone. I say for the price and if you have a andriod phone this stereo is a must buy.

Pros: Good stereo for android phones, alot of features, alot of color options, and crutchfield's support

Cons: A little tricky to use, maybe to many options?

I've installed many aftermarket stereo systems in every vehicle that I have owned. That being said, this is the absolute worst out of all of them. There's no way half these reviews are real for this unit. Let's start with the positives; CD player works good, aesthetics are good (even though the knob is plastic and not leather as it appears in the pictures), overall sound quality isn't the worst. That's about it. On to the negatives; the colored lights aren't as bright as other units, the sound quality isn't the best, the equalizer settings persist on randomly changing back to default over and over, the unit does not display song info from radio stations, the radio reception is not the greatest (jvc is way better for reception), when using the usb it appears to only read song meta tags and will not always display the actual track title/artist/album/etc (even if you tell it to), also it will not even play through songs inside a folder in alphabetical order (almost like its stuck on random, but not quite as bad as random). Paid this much for this thing a few months ago; the most expensive head unit I've ever purchased. Wanted something extra nice for my new suv, but I truly hate this player and have everyday since installing it. Since it required so much modification to install, it would destroy my dash bezel attempting to remove it. Do yourself a favor and get a different player. Sony was great in the 90s but remains dinosaur status today when compared to newer brands.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit in a 2008 Scion XB replacing the supposedly "premium" Pioneer head unit that came as OEM. The install was straightforward using kit fr Crutchfield. At first I was very impressed with the major improvement in sound from my system. This Sony unit blew away the OEM Pioneer and was a match better match for my upgraded speakers, amp, and sub. I specifically bought the Sony for it's EQ functionality and to have bluetooth in my vehicle, but this is where I got disappointed. 1st issue was trying to interpret what Sony meant by its pre-set EQ labels (xplod, echo, gravity, etc) Since I was listening to all sorts of varied music types & quality thru my iPod, it was important to me to be able to quickly adjust the EQ, & I wanted to have some idea of what the EQ curves were, so I could change between presets quickly, especially while driving. None of the EQ settings are detailed in the manual and after trying to get better info from both Sony directly and Crutchfield, it wasn't happening. My frustration was, what does echo or gravity even mean, other than it made the music sound like crap. The 2nd annoyance was the quality of the Bluetooth. All my callers said it sounded terrible, even though I spent a lot of time trying to adjust mic & gain settings The 3rd prob was that the Sony wouldn't work using direct control w/ my iPod nano 4, even though FW was compatible I ended up returning this Sony and replacing w/ a JVC kw-r900bt and I am so much happier.

Pros: Great sound, Display color customizability, price (when on sale)

Cons: Bluetooth sound quality, iPod functionality, complicated menu, meaningless EQ setting names, and difficulty changing/setting EQ while driving. Preset EQ settings only good for people who do not care to understand what they mean and/or are not critical about sound

    2002 Suzuki Aerio

Even with all the advantages and multi-settings of this unit, most modern automotive audio components only have a few buttons that show a cute faceplate but hides several settings adding complexity in the configuration process. We would love to see individual controls for commonly used features like the dimmer, bass, treble and loudness. EQ settings are deeply placed, specially the custom one. Try turning down bass for a specific song without stopping your car while you navigate thru the EQ controls. Adding an individual rotative knob for most used controls would be enough and much simpler. AM Band reception is by far worst than the base radio (Clarion). If you park your car under a concrete ceiling it will kills reception for most stations. FM Band Reception is not bad but it can be improved (Clarion base radio also have a better FM band reception). Most people complains about the dimmer but we find the low dimmer good enough for night driving with no distractions at all.

Pros: Great looks. Bluetooth capability. Switching between modes. USB port.

Cons: AM-FM Band Reception, Settings Menu takes a time to domain.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wish I could give this receiver a better rating but I can't . I have a 2005 Scion Xb whose OEM Pioneer receiver died. This receiver was the closes to the OEM look I could find- really can't tell its aftermarket once installed. Installation glitches: the screws provided with this receiver are very shallow. When I connected the factory brackets to the adapter brackets together...the screws were too shallow to reach the receiver. I had to make a trip to the hardware store to find longer screws of the same size. Once that was done, the rest of the installation was easy...unfortunately this was the best part of it all. While the receiver looks fantastic, the shiny highly reflective screen causes so much glare its totally unreadable in daylight. I'm a techy guy and this receiver's "one knob" overly complex menu based system is a real pain to make adjustments - its not intuitive, its mandatory read the instructions carefully first - set all your adjustments at home. for its impossible to do while driving. Crutchfield, like always, is top notch in support and installation instructions - they're the best period.

Pros: Produces excellent sound even with the factory speakers. Everything on this receiver is tweakable. Its a very good looking receiver almost OEM in fit, finish, looks.

Cons: Unreadable screen in daylight, too much glare from very shiny screen. Overly complex system of menus and adjustments, not intuitive, high learning curve to use even for a techy guy like me.

This Sony stereo is a nice upgrade from the factory CD/Cassette player that came with my Toyota Sequoia. It was easy to install and fit perfectly. The free adapter harness supplied by Crutchfield was easy to use and understand. The only downside is it protrudes about 3/4 inch from the dashboard, so it is noticeable and obvious this stereo did not come with the vehicle. The factory stereo was completely flush and blended in to the dash. But, the improved features and sound are worth it! I like purchasing from Crutchfield because of the helpful on-line installation information and service department. I have called for help in the past and they are always very helpful. I didn't need the help this time, but good to know it is there if you need it.

Lots of features at a great price. A bit complicated or troublesome to have to deal with all the menus and submenus to change everything. I guess, that is the trade off that Sony did to the customer. They gave you everything you might like in a car radio, but you have to take a little time every time you want to change a setting. I can manage and so will you.

Pros: -Lots of audio settings to please many people. -Display color options. Can set the color to change automatically to a dimmer less bright color when the headlights are activated. Very nice. -Bluetooth, USB, AUX, IR Remote, App Remote (through Android or iPhone)

This was one of two head units I was trying in my car, and I have to say I was less than impressed. The amplifier sound is muddy (even after extensive tweaking of the EQ), the front panel buttons are small, and iPod control is limited. From the aesthetics side, the face bows outward, making it protrude from my dash, even after being mounted as far back as possible. I was very disappointed in this unit.

Pros: Looks cool, lots of color options.

Cons: Muddy sound, limited iPod control, small buttons.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stereo I bought from crutchfield is perfect. I looked at a lot stereos before buying this one and I'm so glad I did. The installation was a breeze thanks to crutchfield. It works great and it definitely gets a lot of "wows!" From my friends.

Pros: The led light display is so nice because I can set the color to my mood. I love the ease of finding the source I want and I finally have a bluetooth in my truck!

Cons: I do wish that it was easier to get drom artist to artist because if you want to go from A-Z you have to go all the way through the alphabet which is a pain. I akso wish it was a little easier to get to the tuning settings but overall this stereo is exactly what I wanted.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First let me say that dealing with Crutchfield is simply the best - I buy a lot of merchandise on line and the service here is outstanding. As to the product, it is a good value. The cosmetics are simple but that is perfect for the BMW interior look. The adjustable color display gave a nearly perfect match for the existing lighting (with exception of the light ring around the control knob, too bright and off color a bit). The installation gear worked perfectly but the instructions could be more detailed. I also installed the steering wheel control adapter (see review). The blue tooth works well and just as a side note, my Sony MP3 player does integrate through USP port reasonably well including steering wheel control. I gave a 4 star on sound only because integration to BMW existing sound system has its challenges so it really isn't the unit's fault but if you are putting this or any new head unit into a BMW, you need to be aware that to get really bigger sound, you need a major over all upgrade to the sound system. I also gave 4 star to coolness factor for two reasons. First this unit does not have complex visual appearance but as I said it is great for BMW interior. Second, because the face shape is not a longer rectangle, any of these units will look a little off in the dash opening and the black plastic trim plate is not really very attractive compared to the original look of OEM system.

    Pros: Price, function, appearance.

Cons: None specific to the unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A great package that includes all the basics I needed in a car head unit. BT Audio and phone controls. USB connection for iphone/ipod control, SiriusXM ready, EQ settings, 6 pre amp outputs. Everything worked great but took several looks in the manual to use some of the features. You really need a few days to get used to it. The AppRemote app works well and is good for a passenger to use while you drive. I put this in a 2012 Honda Civic and Crutchfield sent all of the parts needed for "free" (antenna adapter, car specific wiring harness and dash kit for my car). The cost for the unit was a little more for than other sites, but when they are able to package everything you need in one order without searching all over for the right parts, I dont mind paying a bit more. Hard to comment on sound quality since I have my stock (crappy) speakers in there, but a noticeable upgrade in clarity was evident. As other reviewers mentioned, the supplied screws from Sony were too short to attach to the Metra dash kit so a trip to a hardware store was needed to get one that would work. Display is dim in daytime, but with the "White" color selected in the display setup, I am able to see without issue. I am a beginner at stereo installs but was able to do the complete job in about 2.5 hrs total with slick looking results.

Pros: Wonderful feature set, Bluetooth connection very stable, custom color to match dash lights, SiriusXM ready, great iphone/ipod support.

Cons: screws supplied were too short to fit with Metra dash kit. Display could be a bit brighter or contrasty. Steep learning curve for use. One line of text display.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There are only two minor drawbacks to this device and both of them are very subjective. 1) In the old days (the 90s) you could adjust bass and treble very quickly and easily. On this model you have more settings than a 787. I will admit it is nice to customize your listening experience but sometimes too much choice is just that. Loudness, bass and treble adjustments are found a few menus deep. They should be front panel accessible. 2) A double DIN stereo and I can have either song name or artist or album? Really? My small XM stereo Delphi model has more Info on the front panel. A huge waste of its size. Beyond those two minor issues, the stereo is great. Works flawlessly with my iPhone 5, iPod and Sirius XM receiver. Coolness factor? I'm not 12 so it just gets a 3.

    Pros: Ease of hook up

    Cons: More adjustments than needed.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It has been a month and I am entirely satisfied. The installation in my 2010 Dodge Dakota was just as promised (I had to saw off a couple of small brackets which took about 5 min) and the dash fit is excellent. The wiring and installation instructions were very clear, and the installation kit contained everything that was needed, I soldered the harness and used heat shrink tubing - took about half an hour. I experienced one small problem with the antenna adapter - the locking collar seemed too big to push into the trucks connector and I wound up taking that off and used some 18 gauge wire to lock the connection. Don't know if this was an adapter problem or a truck problem, but my fix is working well. I bought this mostly for its Blue Tooth capability and that works great with the Motorola Razr. Of course all the other features perform as advertised. This is a very capable receiver and you'll spend some time with the owners manual to get full utilization but it's well worth doing. If you need a double DIN receiver with Blue Tooth and all its other features I suggest giving this Sony some serious consideration. I would have rated it at 5 stars except for the minor "cons". PS: Consider my age (77) when looking at my "coolness factor" rating - I'm not sure I even know what cool is anymore; maybe if it dispensed Viagra I'd give it a 5.

Pros: This radio has the best receiver sensitivity of all the comparable radios in the Crutchfield line-up. That's important if you live in a rural area as I do, and I'm surprised that this advantage wasn't highlighted more.

Cons: Two minor whines; the small selector buttons as others have noted, and the remote control which, in a truck is not too useful. Be great if the remote was an RF link instead of IR that has to be pointed directly at the radio. I had delusions of Velcroing it to my steering wheel.

Cons: Installation was real simple, except for one issue; the screws sent to attach the brackets to the unit were too short to go through the installation/faceplate kit and the brackets...had to locate some longer screws with matching threads.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a great price and since I have been so happy with all of my other Sony products, I had to jump on this. Have only had installed for 24 hours, but sound is much crisper, cleaner, and gets much louder without distortion (using receivers onboard amp, no external amp). The bluetooth connected very quickly to my iPhone, and then with one press and hold of MIC/ZAP button it knocked out an echo I came across while testing a phone call. Have only used FM, Pandora via USB, and Sirius so far. Would expect CD to sound great, just have not tried it. Menus aren't as bad as I thought they would be, but display could use some work. I would rather have things in a smaller font and actually spell out everything I am looking at versus words being cut off or shortened. But, good buy and it looks great in my 2012 Jeep JK...took a while to install with the SWC and Sirius tuner as extras and kick myself now for not adding some pre-amp cables while I had dash opened up.

Pros: Great value for the money! Great sound!

Cons: Wish display showed a little better description in menus and main screens with a smaller font.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased for wife's 2010 Honda Civic. Had stereo installed in about an hour (including swapping out factory dash piece for new piece that would accept the double din design). System sounds good, but exposes the low quality of the factory speakers (time to order some Polks from Crutchfield!). I gave this system four stars on "Ease of Use" because - as with most aftermarket systems these days - basic functions like adjusting sound and display settings are buried under menu after menu after sub-menu. Also, the display is a little dim - even with the brightest "color = WHITE" setting. Otherwise, the system is great - especially for the price. And how can I submit a review without commenting on how great Crutchfield is!? You can't go wrong buying from these folks! Service is top-notch. Shipping is fast. Wish I could get this kind of experience from my other online purchases.

Pros: Good radio for the price. Can't beat Crutchfield!

Cons: Too many menus to go through just to change treble, bass, etc. Display needs to be a little brighter.

This unit makes my factory speakers sound great on an '05 Ford Explorer! Bluetooth phone and audio work great. I use Spotify for music which works perfectly with this unit. Menus are a little weird to get used to at first but is really not that bad. Read the manual to understand all the features and how to access/change them in the menus. USB charges iPhone while playing music as well. Will definitely recommend this to a friend!

Very nice unit for the money. Using the Crutchfield furnished installation kit and instructions, I was able to install this unit correctly the first time, which is unusual for me. Everything works very well. The sound quality through my factory speakers and sub is better than my stock unit delivered. My only complaint is that the system is a little cryptic to use but with so many features and options packed into a car stereo, I probably could not design the GUI any better unless it was a menu driven touchscreen device. The color schemes are very cool..It does take a little getting used to as far as using the unit, READ THE HANDBOOK, and keep it handy for a bit. Only bad thing so far, the screws Sony supplied are not long enough. Had some other handy so installation was easy. I will say it is funny how Auto manufactures go to extremes to make it hard to add aftermarket radios with their wiring harness, yet the panels are plastic and snap together. The paperwork Crutchfield supplies makes installing a breeze..Thanks Crutchfield...

I was looking for an under-$200 Bluetooth-CD receiver for a Honda Civic LX sedan. I compared all the top name products on Crutchfield's website and decided this Sony to be the best for the money. Honestly, it was better spec-wise than many more expensive receivers. I purchased the Scosche dash replacement kit, and the installation couldn't have been smoother. The sound difference compared to the factory stereo was much fuller, clearer, and more alive. I soldered and heat shrunk all the connections, which to me makes the best installation. I plugged everything back into the Sony before completely refastening the dash and everything worked! Before reinstalling the dash I ran the microphone cable behind the speedometer and then up the windshield pillar behind some trim to the visor. Everything fit perfectly. With the instructions provided and videos on youtube, I was confident before I began. I have been a customer of Crutchfield since the early 80s and have purchased and installed numerous car stereos. I've NEVER had a bad product, missing parts, poor packaging, or unanswered questions. I highly recommend the Sony WX-GT90BT and Crutchfield.

Pros: Everything included for installation. Great packaging and instruction. Custom looking fit. Great sound and features. Very easy to pair Bluetooth phone. Great sound from compressed music on thumbdrives using sound settings on receiver. Numerous color and display settings. Tuner pulls-in distant stations clearly. Specifications of unit.

Cons: Programming receiver is a bit involved.

My first shipment was faulty but with just one phone call, it was replaced and received in two days. Second radio worked perfectly and is a good fit. I chose the BlueTooth version to link with my iPhone. It works flawlessly, I like the way the sound goes down with a phone call and resumes when you hang up. My only real problem with the unit is it's design. I don't understand why all manufacturers have to have the huge dial with all of the blinking lights and crazy colors. It's almost distracting while driving. If that is what is supposed to be the "cool factor" , I guess I'm not "cool".

Pros: A good fit for my Subaru Forester. Good sound. Flawless Blue Tooth setup that works as it should.

Cons: Goofy design. Make it a little simpler and cleaner looking, please.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had the head unit installed for about one week now. I installed it in a 2006 Honda CRV LX, as a replacement to the factory head unit. It's connected to the factory speakers. Installation was rather simple, given the wiring harness and dash kit, and took about 2 hours. The most difficult step was finding an area to install the BT microphone, without having the wire look gaudy (I want a factory look as much as possible). Operation of the unit itself is fairly straight forward, but I did have to read the manual in order to understand some of the abbreviations on display. I've been able to get everything working, including the bluetooth (BT) phone, phonebook, and music from my iPhone 5, however it should be noted the source labeled "BT Pandora" only works with an Android and Blackberry device, it will not work with an iPhone. However the source labeled "BT Audio" will work with the iPhone 5. You can connect to the head unit via USB or BT, and both work flawlessly. So far, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Feature functionality, quality and price

    Cons: None to date

So many features for such a low price.

Wonderful replacement for my 2007 Honda Fit factory radio whose display had become unreadable. Looks similar to my factory radio and it was easy to set the color to match the blue lighting on my dash. Connects consistently to my Galaxy S3. Bi-directional control works very well. Would like to see better integration with Google Play. Sound quality is very good. t really enjoy the positional and rear speaker bass enhancements. (I now need to replace my speakers.) After properly positioning the microphone, with the assistance of my wife and her phone, hands free calling quality has been very good. Installation was a breeze as one would expect from Crutchfield. The dash kit included was a great match.

Pros: Bi-directional control, abundance of audio sources, multitude of display colors and ability to fine tune audio.

Cons: I do enjoy Pandora but would like better integration with other services.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm not an audiophile by any means, but the stock stereo in my 2004 Ford F350 needed to be updated. My main shopping points while looking for a new stereo was price, ease of installation, Bluetooth connectivity to my Samsung Note II Android Phone and the ability to play mp3s from CD. And although the price was a little above the upper end of what I wanted to pay, this Sony WX-GT90BT did everything I wanted. The Bluetooth was very easy to connect with my Note II, and I can stream and control Pandora easily. I can also easily stream mp3 from my Rocket Play music app via Bluetooth. Answering Bluetooth phone calls is also very simple, and with the included mic, the person on the other end can hear me fine. But to be honest, I have trouble hearing the other person as they sound muffled. I am using the stock speakers though, so that may have something to do with it. I also have not been able to get it to read text messages with App Remote yet and the instructions are very, very limited on how to use the app. The app on my phone doesn't look anything like the app in the Google Play Store. Overall, I'm happy with it. At this price point, this is one of the few radios I've seen that actually cater more to Android than to the iPhone, especially wirelessly. Even using the stock speakers, this sounds better than my original factory stereo when playing music.

Pros: Works wirelessly with Android, can stream apps other than Pandora

Cons: Not very intuitive to use anything other than the basic features.

Super easy install in my 2006 F-150 using Crutchfield install instructions, took less than two hours total including removing the old unit. Phone clarity isn't perfect over bluetooth but PLENTY good enough. Menu's are a bit funky at first but seems like once you go to the manual a couple times everything falls in place. Sound is much better than stock but have to boost the volume to get the bass. (No amp and factory speakers so no complaints) I primarily use the radio to connect over bluetooth to my Iphone and it works perfectly. If you can't make up your mind between the different radios, get this one, for the money it does everything you need and want.

Pros: Easy install, looks great in the dash of my F150, seamless operation with my Iphone.

Cons: Phone call quality reported to be very understandable but a bit raspy by callers. Mic is mounted on the drivers side visor. Call receiving is very clear to the driver. Very minor complaint about display graphics a little busy and cheezy but for the price who cares?

Great system. Takes a little while to dial in the best sound since there are so many possible settings. Definitely have to read the manual and take some time, but it's well worth it! The USB port works great. I bought a 16GB tiny Sandisk drive and loaded it up. It's easy to search through and it sounds awesome. Adjusting the color to match my dash was easy and it fits right in now. The dash kit and the harnesses worked great. The instructions were a little sparse, but I was able to search specifics on the internet. The hands free phone functions perfectly. It was easy to pair it up with my android phone. Streaming music off my phone worked really well. The Remote App application for my Android phone is cool, but a little gimmicky. I can see if you tailgate a lot, it would be cool. All in all, this is a great little system and it integrates very well with your smartphone.

Pros: Great looking design. Sound quality is outstanding since you can tweak the sound. The 7 band EQ really, really helps as does the position and subwoofer settings. You can custom tailor the sound.

Cons: Since there is only one dial, the settings are all menu driven and it takes time and patience to work through them. Read the manual!! Have it handy in the car too!

Streaming audio via Bluetooth works perfectly. Using the Sirius adapter was a concern not being built in the unit however once installed and activated, the use of Sirius was no different than my stock radio. I have an 03 Explorer with an OEM subwoofer in the rear. I knew I needed to upgrade my head unit and after calling customer service and discussing my intentions, I went with this model. Wow! I can not believe what you can buy for a decent price these days. I was a little nervous thinking I was getting a low end unit, based on the price. I am a bit of an audiophile and years of musical training. I can not believe the quality of sound this unit gets from my factory speaker system! It did take some tweaking and a few days of going back and forth from the manual to the radio. This is why I have dealt with Crutchfield for over 30 years! And as for Sony, when in doubt go with the Sony.

Pros: Excellent sound and plenty of fine tune adjustments. Wow, what this radio can bring out of a digital file! Great unit. Great price and Great support from Crutchfield (though none was needed on this install) . I LOVE IT!!!!!

I wanted to get a new head unit for my 2005 Avalanche that would allow me to have AUX and USB inputs. I also wanted Bluetooth and I wanted to be able to retain my XM. I wasn't sure I wanted a busy looking touch screen unit and didn't need a DVD player or backup camera, so this seemed to be the best alternative in this price range. I'm very happy with the sound of this Sony unit. It has more sound options and settings than any unit I've had previous to this one. I didn't find the function menus to be any more complicated than most other units that I've had in the past. Yes, it can be a bit tedious going through all of the options available, but that's mainly a function of how many options there are, as opposed to the setup being that hard. I've also been able to set the background colors on the unit to match those of the Avalanche dash. The Bluetooth works great and it's nice to be able to use voice dialing when driving, vice having to choose a number on the head unit itself. I've had no complaints about echo or of people having a hard time hearing me while I'm driving. Installation was a breeze with the supplied installation kit. The kit itself seemed a bit on the cheap side, but it worked well, so I have no complaints. Crutchfield, once again, supplies everything you need to install the unit. Their support and customer service is second to none. I'd definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a unit with a lot of options, but doesn't want a touch screen unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a new 2012 Nissan Xterra, I knew the car had just a basic radio, but other than blue tooth for the phone, If it sounded like my 2003 Xterra, It would be O.K.. Turned out that every option that the dealer had was much more than the cost of a new radio. So the new plan became finding a new radio that looked like it belonged in the dash, and had Bluetooth AND sounded good! Did not want a video screen in the location the radio was going to be in,but wanted the lighting to match. Found the Sony before it was released, so not much information on it. I ordered it, installed it and it sounded terrible! There were speakers in the 4 doors, and two speakers on the dash. I don't know if it was because the doors had 2 Ohm speakers and the two 2 inch speakers on the dash were hooked to the front door speakers, but you could only get bass not even mid range it was really bad. replaced the 6x9 in the front doors with the Polk DB691, minor improvement, replaced the back door 6 /12 inch speakers with dxi 650 , maybe 30% better, now the dash speakers were the loudest, and most distorted. if you listened to a singer, you would here the voice from the front dash speakers but everything else was very quiet. finally put in the DB1001 in the two dash positions, turned off DW+ ( I think it was called) to get rid of the now screechy highs. I had perfection with all sources! my HTC Vivid works to answer and hang up the phone. Will have to work on getting other functions to work!

Pros: good match to car appearance, super sound. Great price, good volume, even for this truck.

Cons: I don't think like the controls! I have NEVER used an owners manual before! Mine is getting dog eared now! Still, once I figure out the rest of the functions on the HTC Vivid, I'm good!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This stereo has a huge list of features. And all of them appear to be working as advertised. This issue is finding out how to use them. the screen only displays one line at a time and there is a learning curve on figuring out the controls. The remote control is essential. how ever as a plus the main control knob is not a multi-jog set up with four directional buttons built in. this means no accidental selections during menu navigation. Having the user's manual handing is almost a must when setting up the EQ. With that said, having a EQ with as many bands as it has is wonderful. Here's looking at you Alpine. This is the second Sony head unit I have owned. Although many people deride Sony as being inferior, both stereos have worked extremely well and done exactly as they claimed to do. App Remote The app remote feature is cool for use and is a great party trick. being able to see the song and artwork and all the other information on a phone screen almost makes up for the poor screen. however menu navigation including searching for music via folder or album, must still be done on the single line display. Getting a text message and having the stereo read it to you is also quite cool. Use a phone mount. Misc There are several color options that function as a visualizer. they change color in response to the music. The random setting is really cool, but it is very distracting as well. The backlighting is very bright and easily readable in the sunlight.

Pros: Features: works with Galaxy Note 2 perfectly, Multiple play options, sound Quality with an otherwise stock system. Looks almost factory, the many color options allow you to match the interior lighting of any vehicle. the text message reading function is cool. As is having the phone as the main screen with album art, track, album, artist and time.

Cons: The screen on the device is the main problem. This is a double din stereo with a screen that really only displays one line of text. the Sony DSX-S300BTX is a single din with a much better display. If this had a better display it could quite possibly be the best stereo in the price range.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this. I replaced the OEM stereo in my Wrangler JK with this Sony and really enjoy the power and sound quality if provides. The built-in USB reader is AWESOME and allows me to carry large quantities of music without the bulk of CDs and other media. I also use the Bluetooth Audio feature to stream wirelessly from my mobile phone and that's great... I can list to Pandora or YouTube or ANYTHING on the web while I'm cruising! The interface is a little tricky to figure out at first because there are soooo many options. And it took me a WHILE to figure out how to get the bass to reduce (I have an amp and 10" sub)... OOTB it was SUPER sub-heavy.. I reduced the subwoofer setting to -10 and it was still crazy! Took me a while to really tweak everything and get it so the vocals were crisp and loud and the bass is perfect. I'm not thrilled with the fact there's no "treble" setting. I'd like to be able to tweak that but, overall I'm super satisfied. And the myriad color options for the display (or the alternating random colors) is super cool. The install was fairly easy, but, my boyfriend did it for me so I can't really comment too much on that. :)

Pros: excellent sound (once tweaked) cool color-changing display USB input bluetooth wireless streaming

Cons: no treble setting little tricky to figure out the setttings very bass-heavy OOTB

Good stereo but not all functions work with all phones

This unit is great except not all Android phones support all of the functions on the unit.

    Pros: looks great, sounds great

Cons: BT works but phone audio isn't very clear. Shuffle, repeat, album skip do not work over BT with RAZR M. Hopefully a firmware update on phone or stereo will fix

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am self-professed Sony fan, so I may be a bit biased...love the look of the unit, Sony's "user-friendliness" is a huge plus. Have only had the unit installed for a couple of weeks, have not played much with all that it offers, but am certainly impressed with the look and feel. I gave 4 stars for the value, simply because we always want more for less! Very highly recommended!

    Cons:

    Feature rich, but obvious junk!

    2006 Hummer H3
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this unit for our 2006 Hummer H3. Installation was easy with included GMOS on-star adapter. This is where the excitment ends! Unit would become unresponsive to any button presses or attempts to change volume or stations. Only way to wake unit up was to power the unit off and then back on. It was like the unit fell asleep. The controls on this unit are also NOT user frendly, very cumbersome to change settings. Felt like I took a step back in time...no more Sony units for me. Don't think I could force myself to be happy about my experience with this unit. Returned!

Pros: Looked good and matched the asethetics of the Hummer interior dash. With the exception of the poor fitting GM faceplate adapter. See below....

Cons: Included GM faceplate adapter appearance was less than satifactory. It fit well but left a bothersome gap at the lower area. The Hummer H3 bezel is slightly curved, the face plate included is not and therefore leaves a noticeable gap at the bottom. Less than professional appearance!

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The Sony WX-GT90BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 2.1 + EDR), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP (Hands Free Profile), PBAB (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Sony WX-GT90BT. Please visit Sony eSupport for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled phones.

Pairing: Up to 9 phones or audio devices can be registered with the WX-GT90BT (only one device can be used at a time). The unit can be set to automatically reconnect to the last connected Bluetooth device when the ignition is turned on.

Hands-Free Communication: The Sony WX-GT90BT supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled cell-phone. Bluetooth hands-free communication helps to minimize distraction while driving by allowing you to control your mobile phone from the head unit, so you don't have to touch your mobile phone. The controls of the WX-GT90BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also features an external microphone (featuring adjustable gain), so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering Calls: Incoming calls can be answered manually or automatically (between 3-10 seconds) through the Sony head unit, while the ring tone is output from your car speakers and the caller's name or phone number is displayed on the head unit's LCD. Incoming calls can also be rejected if desired.
    • Dialing a Number: Using the WX-GT90BT , you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways.
      • Entering Phone #: Allows you to manually dial a phone number using the unit's control dial.
      • Redial: Use to easily redial the last number you called.
      • Preset Dial: You can store up to 6 contacts in the preset dial for quick dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can store up to 1,000 contacts in the unit's phone book. Up to a 40 character name can be input for each contact.
      • Call History: The unit will store the last 20 calls, allowing you to select a previous phone number quickly from the list.
      • Voice Dial: You can make a call using the voice tags stored on your connected cellular phone.

External Microphone: The WX-GT90BT includes an external microphone to carry on your side of your phone conversation and voice command dialing. The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the level of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 12' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone comes with a mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.465" (diameter) x 1.425" (depth). There is no integrated front-panel mic.

SMS Indicator: The SMS indicator informs you of any incoming or unread SMS messages on your paired Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. You will still need to view the text message from your phone, as well as create and send text messages from your phone.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Meta Data Display): The Sony WX-GT90BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The WX-GT90BT will be able to control your stored music's basic playback functions; such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, Fast-Forward/Reverse, and Shuffle/Repeat. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name, Song title, and Album label. The WX-GT90BT also supports audio streaming of music apps, but without control or metadata. You will continue to use your Bluetooth enabled smartphone to view and control streaming music apps. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Digital Assistant Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S/5 via Bluetooth (not USB), the Sony WX-GT90BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel control and external microphone. Simply activate the "voice dial" function on the WX-GT90BT to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the WX-GT90BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

Note: You can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone 4S/5. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

    Disc & USB Playback

Disc Compatibility: The unit features a single disc player that will playback CD-Audio, CD-Text, and finalized CD-R/CD-RW audio discs (12cm only). Copyright protected ACC-LC files cannot be played back.

USB Port: The receiver's front-panel Type-A USB port can be used for plugging in a (MSC) Mass Storage Class USB device; such as your Android smartphone, portable digital audio player, or USB thumbdrive. The head unit can play music files stored on the USB device in MP3, WMA, or AAC formats. USB portable devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the CD receiver's USB port (1A) and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On.
