Bring audio/video entertainment into your car with Sony's XAV-60 DVD receiver. Its high-resolution 6.1" WVGA touchscreen offers outstanding video performance, and you can connect, control, and charge a variety of portable music players through the receiver's USB input. The two A/V inputs let you connect a couple of external video sources, like game consoles.

DVD, CD, and much more
Slide a DVD into the front slot to enjoy movies or videos when you're parked, or insert a CD or DVD loaded with MP3, WMA, or AAC music files for hours of audio entertainment. Sony's SensMe™ technology analyzes your music, then organizes it into playlists designed for different moods.

Your iPod® can plug into the USB input for direct control and playback of audio files, plus you can add Sony's optional cable for playback of your iPod video content.

Find files fast
Use the receiver's click or touch-screen controls to search for music by Playlist, Artists, Album, Genre, Track, or Podcast. You can switch to Passenger Control mode if you or your passengers prefer using the iPod's controls.

Sony sound quality
A powerful MOSFET amp combines with a premium digital-to-analog converter to deliver strong, clean sound. You can adjust the EQ7 7-band equalizer to optimize the acoustics in your vehicle, or use the built-in digital signal processing to enhance the sound of compressed music files.

Sony's Advanced Sound Engine (ASE) makes your DVD's multi-channel soundtrack sound its best. The Intelligent Time Alignment system creates perfectly balanced sound, while the Center Speaker Optimizer (CSO) creates a virtual center channel for a true-to-life 5.1 listening experience.

Add on and enjoy
For more listening options, add a Sony HD Radio™ tuner or satellite radio. If you're putting together a heavyweight system with external amps, you'll appreciate the three sets of high-voltage preamp outputs and the built-in high- and low-pass filters.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use this adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Sony stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Sony, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

this dvd reciever has the best picture compared to all other dvd recievers. .installaton was pretty easy however the product says it does not come with a .usb cord for the ipod to connect to the actual reciever, it DOES come with it.. in .fact it is factory connected to it which is a huge plus. also, the only thing i dont .like about it is that it sometimes takes a little time to go between screens and .when in the tuner, you have to pull up the preset stations -- it takes too long i .think.. .but other than that, this is a great product!!

    Awesome as sony always is!

good for sound bad for ipod

chd176 from Winfield, AL. on 11/7/2010

I have the XAV-60 installed in my 2003 eclipse spyder with the infinity system and wow it's head and shoulders above the factory HU. The menus are a little slow for my tastes however also the lack of customization is disappointing. As others have said the waste of the display real estate is a serious overlook in my opinion. I like that the radio can display RDS information but what good is it when it only has a few words on the screen at once. Another disappointment, and this is a big one, is the iPod controls. It's actually borderline useless due to the horrible lag in switching songs, playlists, artists, ect. basically operating the iPod through the head unit interface. You can turn that off however and control your iPod through "passenger control" but that also cripples it as you can no longer see album art, song info, or artist info on the HU. There are a couple of things I found out on my own, when navigating the iPod menus it seems to be more responsive if you double tap on the items. Another feature that isn't truly supported is Pandora via the iPhone but you can't operate it through the HU controls or view song/artists info. I like the clean professional look by having all the inputs in the back of the HU. DVDs look and sound great with this head unit. AUX input is also great as well as support for HD and sat radio, and backup cam. For rear USB iPod support as well as media on a flash drive you can't go wrong with the XAV-60 if you're on a budget.

Just what I was looking for

ATO21 from Dallas, TX on 10/7/2010

This Sony receiver was just what I was looking for. It looks great in the dash of my Express Van. The head unit operates good as you would expect from Sony. I play DVDs that are beautifully clear and have a backup camera installed that I love. I play my music from a flash drive that I leave plugged into the USB cable that was included. You will not be disappointed with this receiver.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this stereo in my F350 a little over a month ago. I was really surprised at the sound quality and how well my stock speakers sound with the extra power that this provides. It is also pretty easy to tune with the separate sub output as you can adjust the output to the amp easily. In my opinion the rating of this head unit depends on the input that you select. The radio, DVD, and the iPod/USB inputs work very well. The issue comes when you want to listen to Sirius. Even though this Sony is set up for satellite radio the user interface is AWFUL!!!!! There is only one 10 character line of data that comes from the tuner, you cannot scroll through programming effectively and you have no idea what channel you are listening to as it does not come up with the info. Most functions of this stereo work very well but if you are like me and want to primarily listen to satellite radio I would look for something else. I really cannot emphasis how bad the satellite input is. If I did not have so many things already wired to it (steering wheel controls, sub woofers, and now Sirius) I would return it.

I installed this 6 months ago in a 1999 Lexus GS300 Installation : Standard (easy) - working around the lexus wiring was a bit nuts - wound up rewiring the entire car and by passing factory amp (installed new amp to drive sub) Sound: Good clarity and detail (new polk speakers and infiinity sub). The equalizer works great and the presets (XPLOD was my fav) sounded really really good. Video: Great resolution - DVD's look really good. Ease of use : This is where this unit needs major improvement - Navigating this thing is extremely slow (touch response time) especially navigating through your IPOD library. Haven't been able to find an update to the software to see if there is a fix. This is really the only area that I'm disappointed with this unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off...Crutchfield is top shelf! Ordered it Friday morning, on my door in perfect condition Monday, standard shipping...very nice! The xav60 is rock solid for the price. Great sound, looks good, and the screen is $$. What really impressed me was the sound you get while watching a movie. Sony nailed the surround channel and my mustang is now a movie theatre. The simulated center channel sounds so good, I use it when listening to music and really adds depth to the overall sound. Now for what you are waiting on....Ipod intergration. While it is slow in "reading" the ipod, it has no problems once a playlist is started. Better organization of your ipod is all that's called for and speed will not be an issue... great buy for the money and really dressed up the ride, particularly at night. Would recomment the XAV60, along with Crutchfield with no reservation!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been customizing my cars since I was 16 however this was the first in dash monitor I have bought for my 05 F150. Love the unit for the money, but sometimes this thing drives me crazy. The DVD picture is unreal, looks like a real HDTV, the radio is solid, CD sound again awesome. The thing is that it is the year 2010 and everyone seems to have an iPod and I am one of those people where all my music is in my ipod. Here are my issues...scrolling through the ipod takes FOREVER! Your better off making a ton of playlists, the lag gets to be pretty awful. Another is sometimes the touch screen just wont work and I have to turn off the unit with my remote then turn it back on, and then sometimes it wont work at all and have to turn the whole car off and turn it back on. This is the thing that gets to me the most, I could deal with the ipod but this is VERY ANNOYING!!! Only reason I havent returned it is because I do not want to pay to take it out then pay to have it put back in. But all in all when the unit works as it should its pretty legit..

    Nice System

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice unit. Love the DVD player along with all the expansion capabilities. I haven't connected an IPOD to it yet but have loaded music on a 8gb jump drive and it works great. I don't know what the advantage to using an ipod would be except it might mix the music up a little better. One thing so far that I don't like is the shuffle feature doesn't seem to work as well as it could, a lot of repeats with plenty of music available. Other than that the sound quality is great with the stock speakers and a tube sub and really makes the interior of my car look better than the stock radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love the sony xav-60. the picture is great for playin dvd's. the price was even better. i dont use a ipod, i use a 22g flash drive (ill never pay for cd-r's again!!!!!) and it works wonderfully. It pulls up most of the album art, all of the title of the songs and artists and it loads it quickly, i saw people sayin they were havin problems with it laggin on loading songs but i havent noticed any lag what so ever. Sound quality is awesome, way better than my old Alpine which i was very surprised. And it sounds great with my 10' JLW3v3's and Eclipse XA1000 amplifier. this unit was worth every penny and wiring it was easy. Sound customization is awesome as well, really precise especially if your into gettin the best sound out of your equipment. the overall interface of the unit is easy. touch screen is pretty impressive(no more worn out buttons) but i mainly use the remote it comes with. So if your lookin for jus a cd & dvd player then you found it. im a mechanic and i highly recommend this product to anyone its worth every penny. and crutchfield had the best price by far out of everyone. words cant even describe how happy i am with this purchase and ive gotten many compliments on it too

Had a little trouble with install because of factory installed amp and subwoofer. The unit came with the amp harness. I really enjoy the album art display when using my IPOD touch. Extra SONY cable required for video. Very slow response in IPOD mode, but great sound and easy to use. As always Crutchfield service and support was phenomenal.

The Sony system is beautiful and response time is fine, navigation of the unit is intuitive. All of the other functions (aux, DVD, and tuner) are working well. Install was easy with all of the correct wiring harness, front panel car kit, and detail instructions provided by Crutchfield for my vehicle. Good product overall and ease of install all add up to a good value.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Over all I like the appearance and non-cluttered look of this unit. I found the install to be pretty straight forward with the help of the instructions and free parts included with the purchase from Crutchfield. My only complaint would be that the touch screen is a little reluctant to cooperate at times. Often I will have to push, coerse or otherwise coax the icon on the screen to do my bidding. I tried the fucntion which allows you to fine tune the screen to your touch but found little if any improvement. It is an intermittant thing however and does not always require several attempts to manipulate the icon each time. When it does occur though I find it quite distracting while I'm driving to simply skip the CD let's say, to the next song. I imagine higher-end units to have a better touch screen quality. This technology has been around for several years and one would think it has been dialed in by now. I have a Delphi Ski-Fi hooked into this unit through the aux-1 port. I find the "no video signal" constantly on the screen a little wearisome. A function to modify screen dialog in these cases would be nice. I use the usb port for my ITouch and the aux-2 for camera and video hook-ups. Not a bad unit over all. david

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound quality and features are nice, but browsing speed is very slow - to the point that instead of concentrating on the road I find myself spending too much time on the selection screen. It takes several seconds between each selection for the machine to react - very frustrating. Note the same comment in the "excellent" reviews attached to this product. Sounds like a design flaw to me. Also, the remote has limited capability and isn't useful for much other than changing the volume or bumping to the next track. My experience with Crutchfield has always been good so we'll see how the return goes.

Just purchased and installed this unit for my 2006 Mustang. It looks great in the dash, and it brought the speakers from my Shaker 500 system to life. The sound range is dramatic, the dvd picture quality is brilliant, and the use of my iPhone is amazing. Even though the interaction with the iPhone is a bit slow, it is absolutely worthy every penny paid. Driving my Mustang has always been a delight, but now it is a thrill every time I hop in the car to go somewhere. Great sound, great video, great iPhone connectivity, and a stylish look in the dash, not to mention affordability make this one great system to own. If you're hesitating on it, hesitate no longer! It is well worth the investment!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally got the Clarion CX-609 but replaced it with this unit and am glad I did! My primary use for this stereo is to listen to my iPod that has over 10,000 songs on it so ease of quickly finding what I want to hear was a top priority. You can ignore what it says in the item description about QuickBrowzer and Jump to commands, there is no such thing. The only thing the knob "ever" does is control volume. When playing an iPod song the album artwork is displayed (with standard iPod cable) along with song name, artist, and album title. When browsing through lists of artists, etc. you can quickly jump to a section of the alphabet by touching a section of a vertical bar (see "Page Position Bar" on page 33 of owners manual) so if you are on, say, letter "A" and want to jump to "S" you simply touch a spot about 3/4 of the way down on the vertical bar, and after about 5 seconds it jumps there. The sound output (at 17 WPC) seems higher than my Clarion was (at 22 WPC). Radio reception is also great. The remote is also a godsend, letting you jump to areas with 1 push that would take several touch screen presses, saving you lots of time. If you enjoy touch screen technology you will love this unit. My only nit-pick is I wish it responded faster when browsing my iPod. Each press takes about 5 seconds for a response.
