Sony's XDP-PK1000 Digital Link Sound System allows you to play your iPod touch® or iPhone® through your car's factory stereo system, and gives you a tremendous upgrade in the quality of your sound at the same time. The package includes a sound module with 4-channel amp, a 12" truck-style enclosure, a 300-watt sub amp, and a cradle for your iPod.
The DSP master unit includes a built-in 4-channel amplifier for your car's speakers, along with a digital sound processor that optimizes the sound for your vehicle's specific size and shape. You tap into the speaker wiring of your factory radio or amp, and connect the wires to inputs and outputs of the DSP module. The amp delivers almost twice the power found in most factory radios, bringing new clarity and excitement to your tunes. The module also includes three sets of preamp outputs, handy for connecting outboard amplifiers.
The package includes a truck-style enclosure with a 12" sub that's compact enough to fit comfortably in most cars, along with a 300-watt sub amp that'll make sure your bass keeps up with the rest of your new system.
Once you mount the cradle, and its cable, on your dash, you can dock your iPod in a convenient position for hands-on or hands-free play. The heavy-duty suction cup holds the cradle to your dash securely, with a quick-release latch for easy removal. The cradle also contains a remote control sensor, manual volume control, seek/source buttons, and DSP status indicator lights that help oversee the system. If you own a classic car and you don't need AM/FM reception, you should take a look at this system. It's an ok product if all you have on your packet is a budget of under 200, if that's not your case there's a wide range of way way better options but of course higher prices are to be paid

I have a 2012 Mini Cooper Hatchback with the base 'boost' stereo. The sound from the horrible stock speakers is noticeably improved, they are usable now. From what I've read the DSP does time alignment but exactly what is a mystery. The settings on the DSP make a significant difference so try all setting combinations and settle on the one that sounds best to you. I have the treble setting up one press on the DSP and the head unit set to flat all around because the center frequency on the DSP seems higher than the deck so it adds a nicer tone to the high end. I tucked the cradle under the driver's seat so I can use the remote by pointing it under there. I have an ipod going through the factory stereo integration. I like the pre-outs on the DSP so if you want more power you can buy amp(s) and splice back into the speaker wiring that you already tapped. The bass was a little boomy so I set the DSP bass down one click and also wired in a Boss BG200 (1 band parametric EQ) so I can boost the sub bass response without affecting the midbass. Test tones put the lowest frequency the sub produces with any volume somewhere around 35Hz which is the compromise for box size. If you really want more control you could splice in an EQ between the deck and the DSP but it's not needed. Installation is time consuming but very straight forward. The sub was DOA and after unscrewing the box the terminals were not connected to the driver itself. After plugging them in the bass was greatly increased.
Pros: Noticeable improvement in stock system sound. For $600 I would not have bought this but for $200 (or less if you get a scratch and dent) it was a no brainer. You can use the parts separately if you want and they are high quality. System is expandable and a good way to add RCA outputs to a factory stereo. Presets are good enough for the average user. Subwoofer is a good size, not too big for small cars.
Cons: Additional EQ may be needed as built in EQ/crossover points are not adjustable beyond presets. Ipod dock definitely dates this product, but is small enough to hide under seat.
It is a great item for that upgraded my stock radio in my car.. Added much needed bases I already had a ipod and iphone hook up in my car so i hind the ipod dock in the glove compartment.

I've wanted to add a subwoofer to my '65 Mustang since finishing its restoration a few years ago. I came across this package, and- for the price- it seemed like a good opportunity to improve the sound from the 4 Alpine speakers I already have installed (6x9"s in the rear, 5.25"s in the front). I already had the ability to run my iPod through the USA-66 AM-FM head unit I installed, but felt like the sound could be improved. Anyway, it took about 6-7 hours to get this installed. Yes, there are quite a few wires (19 to route and power the DSP unit, and 5 to route and power the sub/amp)- but that's pretty par for the course when installing two amps to 5 speakers. I'm really happy with the result. The 4 speakers in the cabin are crisper/louder, and the sub- while not thunderous- definitely fills out the bottom end that was missing before. Also, control of the sound (when playing through the iPod) is better- and its nice to be able to flip through the playlist (had to use the iPod to do that through my old set-up). The ONLY thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars (and I'm being pretty picky) is you have to have line of sight to use the remote- and you have to have your iPod in the docking station. I would have preferred having a radio control set-up that didn't require a dock. Still and all, this seems to work just great in my classic car, and I'm thinking of purchasing another to give to my son for his 2003 Mustang (I might even help him wire it :^).

Cons: Remote requires line-of-sight, and you have to use the cradle (in a classic car, it would be nice to tuck the iPod away so it isn't visible).

i bought this for my girlfriend because she wanted an iPod connection, but i am a stereo enthusiast so i figured i would amp the speakers and add a sub. i installed this set up into a subaru outback with auto climate control (this prevented me from being able to add an aftermarket deck). this system is the best alternative if you are looking to add aftermarket effects to a stock system without replacing the head unit. you can add everything you normally would (custom speakers, amps whatever) to the unit. the sub works as it should, it's nothing too special but it will get your mirrors shaking and fill out that low end. the amp makes the speakers sound more crisp and also louder. over all, impressive sound for the price and the options. however, the wiring is crazy. some of the other reviews have said this. i pulled all the seats out and lifted the carpet. there are ways to do this that aren't as bad, depending on the car, but be prepared, crutch field hooked me up with customer service and having them just a call away made it so much easier.

When I sold my previous car I was stuck with one that had a factory deck with ZERO auxiliary inputs. The factory Chrysler deck that came in my Sebring is okay at best. When radio reception got spotty I started browsing around for something. I had seen this system before, $199.99 was a little out of my price range so I just passed over it. When reception dropped completely I just decided to get a Head Unit and be done, while entering my Card information to get a JVC deck i decided to check the price on this system just for giggles. Open Box- $124.99. Best decision I ever made. Seriously the bargain of the century. Subwoofer in the box would cost more than that. Components- DSP-9/10- Great size just wish I had more controls Amplifier-9/10-Same Story only the Amp has no controls Cradle-10/10- Charges and plays music seamlessly. Uses a VERY strong suction cup and mounts in a bunch of angles Subwoofer/Enclosure-11/10-This enclosure is compact, well made, has a nice shroud on the Subwoofer and the subwoofer itself is one of the better sounding sealed units I've ever heard Installation is not for the faint of heart though. Lots of soldering and lots of wire hiding. Has about 30 wires that go to and from the head unit wiring harness. Be prepared to really sit down and work on it. Took me and a buddy a total of about 5 hours to get it in and working right

This Review is on the SONY XDP-MU110 that is no longer available - SOLD OUT! I think so much of this product that I wanted to share my opinion on it so I've posted here. Today, I finally had this wonderful product installed after having purchased it nearly a year ago -- December 2012. All I can say is WOW! All media formats (radio, streaming, iPod, CD) are now sparkling clear and the bass is now tight. The front-stage imaging is amazing -- you almost think your at home sitting in front of your home stereo system. Because the sound quality is so crisp and clear I am now considering adding a powered subwoofer to capture the low-end that is evidently missing because of the spacial sound that is now output from my eight speaker system.
I really like this system. It did take 4-6 hours to install, but it was worth it. The dsp unit does a good job at tailoring the sound in my truck. I was slightly concerned with the amount of bass the system was going to put out because of some of the reviews that i read. However i'm not sure what they were talking about because this system hits pretty hard! The iphone dock is a nice plus also. I didn't want to mount the dock on the dash so i just leave it in the console and take it out when i want to use it. I would recommend this system to anybody that wants to improve the sound in there vehicle at a great price.

I really wish I could have gave this system 5 stars and for the price it's listed at now maybe it could be a 4 star for most people but let me start with the positive the dsp unit is awesome hook just for the dsp took around 4 hrs splicing into factory wiring and such I wanted to be very careful the unit itself does a great job of making your stock speakers sound much better and with the extra power a set of aftermarket speakers would be a nice upgrade to adjust the system you have to have the docking unit in sight of the remote so I guess we can talk about the docking unit now 30 pin connector aside the unit is nice and holds a iPod or iPhone well that being said the sticky part needs to be beefed up next up is the main draw back of this system the fact that once you use an iPod or iPhone you can no longer use anything but the remote or the dock volume button to adjust the volume this is realty quite a big drawback for me I like to use my steering wheel controls a lot which was a big factor in me actually buying this system ok now on to the sub and amp Sub cabinet and subwoofer itself are of great quality and could handle much more than the amp supplied which brings me too the amp Let me start of by saying it sounds really clean but seems to lack a little pinch and when you do get the bass going pretty good the amp shuts off because of thermal protection which is a real bummer and has been happening to me a lot I am somewhat of a reformed basshead though so you might be hap

If you are looking for a budget upgrade to a factory audio system, this Sony system will do the trick. I installed this setup in a 2012 Honda Civic using a factory HU and speakers. My goal was to add a bit more bass and I had the option to use a LOC to external amp or go with the Sony DSP system. The Sony system seemed to be the best deal around. For $149.99 (at time of purchase), I got a DSP, amp and subwoofer in box. It accepted high level inputs from the HU and provided a reasonable power output through the DSP. Additionally, the DSP's built in power would negate me from having to buy a multi-channel amp. (More complicated setup, more wiring, more money....) If you are experienced in car audio, self installation should be easy. I chose to have a shop install the DSP and I finished the amp installation. The sound quality is pretty good considering I am still running stock speakers. The bass won't rattle the neighborhood but it does a great job in a smaller car such as the Civic.
Pros: Price, price, price! Where else can you get a DSP, amp and woofer set for this price!

I have 4 years experience of audio installation and have a lot of experience with wiring as well. I recently purchased a new mustang and didn't want to change my stock system. I attempted to hook it up by using the directions and could not get the master unit to power on. After resolving the stock harness three times and running the power wires directly to the fuse box I couldn't get it to work. I finally took my vehicle to a local audio shop (first time ever) and they couldn't figure it out either. My last resort was calling Crutchfield and asking for a replacement. Of course like always they came through with efficiency and helped as much as possible. A day later I got my replacement and couldn't get it to work either. My conclusions is screw it I'm sending them both back and will be replacing the entire stock system. Crutchfield will be the company I buy my equipment from though like always, they have been a great source for my car audio needs and do not see doing business with anyone else any time soon. Thank you to all at Crutchfield.
This system sounds absolutely amazing. I installed it in my 2007 extended cab Silverado and it is absolutely incredible. Great sound from the speakers and the sub has awesome deep bass that hits hard. System is very nice due to being able to adjust the sub output independently from the rest of the system. Install took several hours to do it right and hide all the wires. Not for the novice car guy. I am a certified GM tech and it took me more than 6 hours to install correctly. Makes factory speakers sound great, I had to replace my speakers due to two of them being bad, I installed Sony 6 1/2 3 ways and they make to whole system sound that much better. I have buddies with several thousands in there car stereos that envy the sound from this system. Very clear and full of bass. I would highly recommend system to any one for a system upgrade and you sure cant beat the price!!

Well worth the money (and the time to install). CDs sound great, radio sounds good. Buying the standard head unit wiring harness for my car AND the reverse wiring harness for my car allowed me to wire this joker first try without any hickups or splicing factory wiring. Still trying to get radio listening dialed in. Bass test tracks sound great but not super musical yet...perhaps a crossover/polyfill for the sub or might have to upgrade the factory speakers to keep up and ease the transition from 300w of bass to factory door speakers on 17 watts. Overall, me gusta.
Pros: A lot of bang/boom for the buck. Not audiophile/competition gear but it's more than I expected. I look forward to getting an Apple device to see if I get more out of the dsp interface that way.
Cons: Sub control could be better. Some crossover controls would be nice as would a 10 band eq. (Probably spent another $40 on an amp kit and another $45 on wiring harness/reverse wiring harness and male/female disconnects) The wiring part of the install really isn't that bad if you plan it out...pulling seats and trim pieces and running wires took the bulk of the install time.
I bought this unit expecting somewhat enthusiastic subwoofer activity and the ability to upgrade as necessary in the future. I have purchased two of these setups and have returned both. The only improvement that the DSP unit offered was a slight increase in volume at a given level, but not much else. The installation is fairly straightforward if you are familiar with this type of work. The biggest letdown was the subwoofer/amplifier. While the subwoofer functions, it doesn't work. I don't mean to say that I'm disappointed because it won't rattle things off of my walls, rather, the response is anemic at best. It is barely audible with all adjustments for bass on the unit fully up, subwoofer volume fully up, and stock radio adjustments fully up. The story is the same at median volume levels and adjustment settings. It is barely audible. The only confirmation I received that it was functioning at all was a visual confirmation. Took my vehicle to a shop in my local area to have my installation evaluated for errors and found none. Very disappointing. When balancing the results and the effort to conduct a proper installation, I cannot recommend this kit.

If you have a bass system this will help you create a better sound platform. The 12 " sub adds the base you system needs to bring you experience to life, and give that poor old system a rest.

After reading the reviews posted here, I waived off and had the pros install mine. This added $380 to the $200 purchase price. But wow! The difference is phenomenal. Mine is installed in a '08 Nissan Frontier. This has 6 factory speakers; 4 full-range mounted low in each door + 2 dash-mounted tweeters. These, plus the factory head unit are satisfactory, but that's all. Now add the sub (that doesn't turn the vehicle into an over-bassed monster) and terrific replacement amp/dsp for the factory receiver that make up this kit, and voila! I now have an amazingly upgraded system. Less than 600 bucks turnkey. The raw materials alone are worth this. After some online snooping, my install tech discovered this system has been discontinued by the mfr - thus the ridiculously low price. He initially didn't believe me when I told him what I paid for it. Everything written before as far as the phone integration is true. The phone cradle is a sad necessity, even if you don't use this system with your iPhone. This piece of the system receives the signal from the small remote. And you DO need the remote to tweak the fader/balance/tone/sub settings periodically. But just set the thing loose under the seat and pull it out to tweak things now and then.

I had the system installed by the pros... and I am glad they did it and not me. It took them over 6 hours to install on a Mazda 3 2.3. Now the system is fantastic, the sound is really good and works flawlessly. Even at the place were I had it installed were surprise by the sound. I have no regrets. Great system, great sound and did not have to change the original stereo.

I bought this system looking at the very high rating given in the reviews. I got this system setup on my 2012 Honda Accord SE The DSP was a good improvement for the stock Speakers. But the disappointment starts with the Amplifier and the subwoofer. The Amplifier has serious clipping issues as it grounds at high volume. Solution I had to mount it on a wooden plank. I got the sub deployed in the trunk. The bass is not enough to carryover to the drivers seat. Either the amp is too low in power or the sub and amp combination is a week performing bass unit. So I dont recommend this system and we can understand why its on sale. The dsp delivers good sound to the stock speakers.

Cons: Amp has clipping issues period. So had to mount it on a plywood plank and it works fine. The DSP bass output delivers too low bass signal so had to buy high low converter to get proper signal to the amp.
This is a dated system, but still sounds 200% better than stock. At the current price it cannot beat. If you are looking for a simple upgrade to a stock system and give you solid base this does the job well. Don't think you are getting a $1500+ component system, but you will get a great factory upgrade. The sub fits well in a compact trunk and DSP fits under a seat. If you have an older gen ipod/iphone then you will enjoy the cradle, but I am an Android user. So, i have to have the cradle hooked up just to adjust the sound settings using the remote. Not a big problem, just tossed the cradle under the seat to keep it out of the way. The sound is impressive and I am still using stock speakers, there is clear sound, treble is higher, bass does not drown out at higher volume, and with the sub turned up there is enough hit from the 12" subwoofer. If you can look pass the dated i-cradle you can score a cheap factory stereo upgrade.

I just completed the install and spent three hours just sitting in the car listening to music. I'd recently upgraded the speakers in my 2006 Toyota Avalon looking for better sound on a budget and was a bit disappointed. This system made them come alive and added the bass I was missing. Very impressive for the price.
Pros: Everything is high quality and designed to work together. This sounds as good or better than the high end factory system in my other vehicle without having to swap head units which is a pain in the Avalon as the climate controls are integrated with the stereo.
Cons: A little more work to install that I thought it would be. Most of this was fabricating a deck for the sub woofer and amp in the trunk so I could access the spare without having to remove them. I purchased a T harness designed for bluetooth integration and modified so that I didn't have to cut the factory wiring harness but there was still lots of splicing.
This product is very intimidating. At least as far as the install and operation are concerned. I installed in a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport with aftermarket U-Connect Blue tooth. Spliced in after the u-connect system, as I was unsure what the additional watts of power would do. Does not work on the steering wheel controls. None the less, as any Jeep owner can attest, there is no bass produced by a stock system. This system changes that. The sub is probably larger than needed for a Jeep, but produces deep powerful bass. Switching between the radio and Ipod interface is difficult. No issue with switching from Ipod back to radio, simply turn the unit off., but when the I-Pod is hybernating, it will not automatically play when switching the unit back on to play Ipod. I wanted the bass, and the Ipod was just a bonus..
Pros: Great, Bass for the Buck. Not competition level, but enough to get you pulled over if too load. Additional Watts pushed from the stock system is more than sufficient. Great Price. Blue tooth still works while in Radio mode.
Cons: Confusion install, and Cruchfield did not provide the stock radio speaker wiring harness information. I-Pod mount is huge, and bulky. Finding a mounting place is difficult at best, and the system will not work with plugging the cord directly to I-pod. Very little bass adjustment without I-Pod playing. Bluetooth does not work while I-pod is playing. It cancels the incomming signal and replaces it with the Ipod Signal Subwoofer and amp are huge. Not a lot of space in a jeep.
Install was no to bad. No off the shelve patch cords to tie into the none Bose system in our 2011 Chevy crewcab so had to cut factory wire harness. The 12 inch sub was to bog to mount anywhere in the truck without losing setting space. As it is however great sound and the factor speakers have a very crisp clear sound not apparent with the stock radio. The base is solid and more then I expected. Over all I am satisfied but would no recommend for a truck due to no space for subwoofer. Crutchfield's tech department was outstanding and walk me thru some instillation concerns and provided all auto schematic to allow correct interfacing. The system worked when I finished by just turning on the key.

Worked great to upgrade my 2001 Audi A4. Subwoofer in trunk with amp beside it. DSP unit attached on left side with Command Strips, and wire harness went into tool storage compartment. Cradle fit driver's side of center console just above shifter, but does block seat heater controls. Added new Polk 4 1/2" front speakers using old speaker frame for bracket and preserved tweeters. Replaced rear speakers with 6 1/2" Polk. Accessed audio output from head unit from front speaker wires found in wire harnesses front kick panels which also served as front speaker audio output hook-up from DSP unit. Easy enough to run power cables from battery to amp and DSP unit through firewall grommet. Did not have to pull the Symphony head unit.

System was as advertised. Like any add-on to a factory system it required some effort. It took 6 hours to install in my daughters Scion xB but I am very picky about the appearance of my finished work when it comes to our cars. I had some questions come up during the installation but as with my previous (6) Crutchfield purchases the support was great. The support persons answered my questions, provided me with the vehicle master sheet, wiring color codes and I was good to go. System sounds great, operates flawlessly, and I would recommend it to anyone who has a decent factory receiver that wants to improve their auto sound without buying an entire new system. This system can also be built upon later by upgrading or adding new amps and speakers.

Installed in 2013 Chevy Tahoe Non-Bose factory system. It is night and day different that the factory system. Out performs the Bose system without blinking an eye. The highs are louder and cleaner and the bass is unbelievable for a "slightly" altered factory system. Well worth the $200. You cannot go wrong here. Maintained all of the factory systems (Bluetooth, XM, etc.) You will not be disappointed. Sub fits well behind 3rd row seat. Amp and DSP fit perfectly under the middle row bench. Again, you cannot go wrong with this system. I didn't even change the factory speakers. It's that good.

I installed this system in my 06 infiniti and would not recommend to tackle this job if your not of mechanical background. I was somewhat disappointed with this product and the description of it wasn't detailed on some of the features. It made my factory speaker sound better for sure , but as far as the subwoofer bass goes I was disappointed. I think the dsp limits the sub bass. When using the factory stereo for fm radio or cd could barely tell the difference, it didnt even sound like I had as sub. I had to buy another amp that had bass controls on amp to adjust. Volume could only be controlled at dock when using iPod. Dock has to be used and is bulky. I would recommend the Isimple setup which is virtually plug and play rather than cutting factory harness. I will probably be switching to it soon. I would rather people know what to expect in future so they are t as disappointed as I was.

Finally got around to installing this bad boy system in my 07' Chevy Trailblazer Super Sport , took 9 hours to install (I have installed many stereo systems and was an auto mechanic for 15 years) Not very difficult to install, easy in a Trailblazer, the fuse box (power and ground for the amp) is under the drivers rear seat and everything else wired into the factory Bose amp in the right rear panel This system performs flawlessly and is 1000% better sound, and I finally have some BASS and can play my iPod I am totally amazed they can sell it for this price. I recommend this item to everybody

I bought this system to put in my 2002 Ford Taurus, and took it to a local install shop. The install appeared fairly straightforward and my iPod Touch worked beautifully, but we could not get the car's radio/CD player to play through the system. After multiple rechecks of the wiring diagram in the installation instructions, my installers contacted Sony tech support. Their suggestion was that the DSP was bad and needed to be changed out. I contacted Crutchfield, who were very helpful and immediately got another unit out to me. The new DSP was installed but still no radio/CD sound. After several more calls to Sony, all we learned was that Sony's tech support capabilities were limited to the most rudimentary suggestions and of no real help. We called Crutchfield tech support, and they suggested that we "check the wiring again". OK. Like we hadn't done this a dozen times already. Not about to be stumped, the installation shop manager started reading through the fine print in the installation pamphlet, and found, buried in 6-point text at the bottom of the back page, a paragraph that described how to modify the installation wiring to correct this very problem (apparently not all car radio/CD output signals are created equal). Those steps were taken and the unit now performs beautifully. BEWARE: Sony did not know enough about this product to direct us to this solution.

Cons: 1. Sony is no help at all if you have installation problems. If the DSP does not recognize your car audio signal it will not work properly and you will need to modify the wiring and DSP settings. These steps are buried in the instructions, but Sony didn't know they were there! 2. A mute or pause function on the cradle or remote would be great, but it doesn't have one.
This unit dramatically improved the sound, bass and output in my 2011 WRX five-door (base model). I had to dial the sub way back to avoid boominess, but now it sounds pretty good, if not perfectly clear or tight, but decent. I may upgrade the driver. The DSP adds much needed-power. You can't use the remote without the cradle installed, though. I put the DSP unit under the driver's seat and mounted the sub amp on the back of the sub enclosure, which I put in the hatchback against the back of the rear seats. I wired it to the factory head unit without cutting any factory wires, using the Nissan T-Harness for Bluetooth. This allowed me to splice the DSP unit into the factory door speaker wires, and also gave me a trigger for the DSP power. I ran an 8-gauge fused power line from the battery, through the left fender well and through the hood relase cable grommet, then ran it through the door wire harness tunnel to run power to the DSP unit and the sub amp in the trunk, each of which got their own ground wire. I ran the DSP's trigger wire to the amp. I used a 240-volt three prong connector (male and female; trigger, power and ground) to create a quick-release cable connector to remove the sub from the car in seconds. I used a webbing strap to secure the sub box to the rear seat side bracket and headrest shafts so it won't move around. But later, I'll probably fabricate brackets to mimic the installation of the factory accessory Kicker sub that one can buy for the WRX.
Pros: Huge value. I have an iPhone 5 so I can't use the cradle, but who cares? Once I was done adjusting the system with the remote, I just left the cradle in my garage. Build quality seems quite high on the components.
Cons: Sub amp is barebones with no level controls. You can't use the remote without the cradle attached. No high-pass filter on the door speakers. DSP unit could use more settings.
This seems to be fairly difficult to install and very time consuming for the average person. I have done stereo installs in numerous vehicles of mine. I expected this to beach simple to install by its explanation. Crutchfield has not given me any help on any questions I have. I contacted them over two weeks ago and have not gotten any return feedback. Product seems ok, price is decent, customer support is bs.
Sound stage has improved about 40%. All together this is a perfect system for factory speakers. I couldn't have asked for more given the price. I would recommend this for all my friends.

Cons: Don't try to hook this to high end after market speakers. This only compliments factory speakers.
Installed in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with a fully-functional Chrysler RB1 navigation installation and OEM Infinity amplifier. First, the package comes to your door in a Sony branded box, so forget about gift-giving. Upon opening, you find that each piece of the package is separated and heavily insulated / padded for shipping protection. Once you have everything out, you can tell that every piece to the system was created with the utmost care and quality. Everything has a solid construction, especially the iPod / iPhone dock which has very tight swivel and tilt, as well as white LED illumination at the bottom of the dock to illuminate where to put your iPod at night. Once installed, the DSP outputs clean sound (though it is a bit under-powered when used with aftermarket speakers), and the amp and sub package are well-rounded -- not enough power to blow out your windows, just enough to fill the low-end with clean, crisp, relatively tight bass. The only thing I might consider a con is the fact that the DSP and amp are very simplistic in terms of what can be configured; instead of having an adjustable LPF or input level, you have selections for distance of sub from driver and sub location. But that's my one and only beef with this package. If you are considering a simple upgrade to a factory system that will clean up sound, add bass, and allow for further expansion, this package is ideal, AND it's quality. Don't pass this one up.
Pros: Quality is superb; well-packed shipping box; allows for future external amp expansion; easy way to add iPod integration; intermediate-level bass package; clean fit and finish to each piece of the package.
Cons: Settings for the DSP and amp are limited to Sony-determined presets, which include subwoofer distance from driver (near, mid, or far) and subwoofer location (trunk / not trunk).
This really is an amazing deal! Only a few months ago did I tell my wife I would like an sub in my car. But I installed an aftermarket sync system in my ford focus. I read that installing a sub would only work well if I buy an aftermarket stereo. But I didn't want to do that. I wanted to keep my factory stereo. Now that factory stereo support mp3 codec,and have an AUX input, there's no need to upgrade unless you want more power. But when I saw this deal, I was like "SLAP ME!" There is no way this could be so cheap. I had installed a sub in my old car and I probably spent 400-500 dollars. With this, I paid this much for the sub and amp, 25 for the amp power kit, and 20 for wire slicer, wires, and electrical tape. I think this sub is so cheap because apple updated their data port so it's not going to work with iPhone 5 or latest iPods. The DLS is not that impressive. I don't really hear a difference, and it was a pain to install the wiring for it, but I like how I can control the sub volume, bass, and treble. The 300 watt sub doesn't give you so much bass that you disturb others on the outside, but powerful enough to keep you satisfied in the inside.

I just installed this in a 2007 Civic Hybrid. WOW! The 17w per channel DSP is a good improvement over the 5w per channel factory system. Paired with low wattage 6" 2-ways it makes for an excellent upgrade utilizing the factory stereo. The sub does not disappoint! Would be nice if it displayed a volume level for the I Cradle.
Pros: Sony quality, good length wire harnesses, crisp clean sound!
Cons: DSP wattage may be to low for large vehicles. No volume level display when using the cradle. Remote is not fully functional i.e. you can't fast forward a track, can't mute and a couple other missing features.
I didn't want to lose all my steering wheel controls or my factory deck, nor did I want to pay thousands for countless modules to integrate a new system that only works so so in a truck I just spent a fortune buying. The iPod cradle is awesome! This fits how I listen to music, from my iPhone. Nice sub and amp adds some beefy bass, and the separate DSP/amp made my existing speakers sound like aftermarket. I had to make a sub box to fit my Silverado 2500hd crew cab, and it took a little adjusting, however limited the tuning options to find great sound. NEVER have I seen this great of sound plus iPod integration for such a price. I chocked it up to, its on sale because no one bought it because people think they need a full system to get great sound... their loss is my gain!!! Don't pass this deal.

Cons: Warning chimes for Chevy Silverado won't work while in IPod source mode. Easy fix. Wired in an additional left front dome tweeter on the deck side of system. Done!
so, when I saw the price for this package I said to myself, "Self", why is this package so cheap! I can assure this package is far from cheap. The craftsmanship, appearance, and overall value for $199 is by far one of the best deal I have run into. I have a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6, and I did not want to change the head unit, and the speakers, but I wanted to able to play my Iphone/ipod. The installation is fairly easy, just have to be patient. Call/email the Crutchfield team, and they will provide you the wiring diagram, and instructions on how to install it. The Sub is amazing, and it looks really nice. I can assure just the Amp and the Sub will cost over $200, if you decide not to put the DSP. The AMP is really cool looking as well. When it is powered on, it has Amber/orange color LED on top of it, The package is heavy, so be careful when you try to pick it up (over 50 lbs).

iPod/iPhone Docking Cradle: The Sony Digital Link Sound System (XDP-PK1000) includes an iPod/iPhone docking cradle which allows you to connect your iPod or iPhone to your factory car system.
