Bluetooth connectivity for music and conversation

The RENGA features aptX® audio coding, an advanced type of Bluetooth wireless streaming that retains virtually all the detail of the audio signal it carries. And the speaker is backwards-compatible with earlier forms of Bluetooth. So you can play your music wirelessly from almost any portable device and still enjoy great sound.

When your paired smartphone receives a call, your RENGA turns into a speakerphone. It features a built-in microphone that lets you enjoy your conversations hands-free.

Convenient portability

The RENGA's built-in battery gives you up to 15 hours of portable operation. And charging is simple. Just plug the charging cable into the USB port of your computer or wall adapter. An auxiliary input lets you play non-Bluetooth portable devices through the speaker, too.

works great for a picky teen that lives on his phone. it is loud enough without distortion and battery lasts about 4 hours has used it for 3 days

Features

Built-in Bluetooth 4.0: The Maxell Renga portable Bluetooth speaker supports Bluetooth version 4.0 with support for wireless audio streaming and hands-free communication. You'll be able to wirelessly connect your Bluetooth-enable Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows PC, Mac computer, or other Bluetooth device. Bluetooth has a wireless range of up to 33'.

Simple Pairing: A single button press pairs your Bluetooth-enabled device with the Maxell Renga portable Bluetooth speaker. Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Maxell Renga.

Wireless Audio Streaming w/ aptX: You'll be able to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone/tablet, computer/laptop, or other Bluetooth device to the Maxell Renga for music playback. You can listen to stored music, music apps, podcasts, and other audio content on your Bluetooth-enabled device through the Renga. The Maxell Renga even employs aptX audio coding technology for lossless, CD-quality streaming with compatible aptX-compatible phones (like Android OS 4.0+). You will still continue to use your Bluetooth device for playback control and to view song/artist information.

Hands-Free Communication w/ Mic: A built-in microphone lets you use the Maxell Renga as a speakerphone for hands-free communication. You can answer, end, and reject calls from the Renga portable speaker. Simply talk into the Renga's built-in mic to carry on your side of the conversation and hear the caller through the Maxell Renga stereo speakers. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to view video calls, manually enter phone number, and control advanced phone functions.

Aux Input: In addition to built-in Bluetooth, the Maxell Renga is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connection of almost any portable audio player with a headphone output.

Rechargeable Battery: The Maxell Renga portable Bluetooth speaker has a built-in, rechargeable lithium battery that provides up to 15 hours of playback time. You can easily recharge the battery using the included 4" microUSB-to-USB charging cable and a free USB (type-A) port on your computer or a 3rd party USB/AC power adapter (sold separately). Charging time is approximately 2-3 hours.

The speaker will beep once when you reach maximum volume pressing the + button. I personally don't use speaker while it is charging or plugged in. [ Phil  May 07, 2015 ]
Sorry, but I can't answer that question. I use the speaker only as a bluetooth remote from my smartphone, where it works great. [ MARC S  Jan 18, 2015 ]
Most likely it is when you receive an email on your computer, similar to the way an iPhone will act when an email or text is received [ Jay  Jan 14, 2015 ]
