Overview: The Shure PG ALTA series of microphones is designed and manufactured with the highest quality and construction. The PGA 98D microphone is designed specifically for drum and percussion performance and recording. It has a flexible, discrete gooseneck design and an integrated preamplifier to provide a direct XLR connection. The PGA 98D comes with a molded drum mount, a foam windscreen, and a zippered storage pouch. No cables are included.
Pickup Pattern: The PGA 98D has a cardioid polar pattern, which reduces feedback and rejects unwanted background noise. The microphone has dual mesh grilles with an arrow to indicate which direction to aim the microphone toward the source. The tailored response microphone cartridge is designed for clear reproduction of drum and percussion sound sources.
Phantom Power: Condenser microphones require phantom power to operate. A 48-volts DC power supply is recommended for the PGA 98D, however, it can operate with lower voltages. Phantom power is usually provided by most mixers or audio interfaces where the microphone will be connected. A balanced microphone cable is required.
Construction: The microphone has an industrial design with a black metallic finish and grille for an unobtrusive visual presence. It has a 3.75" long preamplifier and a 3.75" long gooseneck that's less than 1/4" wide. The actual microphone head is 3/4" diameter x 1-3/16" in length.
Mounting: The PGA 98D comes with a molded, low-profile drum rim mount that can be attached and removed quickly and easily. This break-resistant mount lets you tilt the microphone forward or backward over 180°.
Connector: The Shure PGA 98D has a 3-pin male XLR connector. No microphone cable is included in this package.
