Professional studio headphones
Our take on the Shure SRH440 by Crutchfield's David Brown
At home in the studio
If you're no stranger to recording studios, you'll make fast friends wtih the Shure SRH440 headphones. These pro-style headphones feature closed-back earcups and fit completely over your ears to ensure you get the proper noise isolation. That means your music stays in your ears and out of live microphones. This design also helps keep external sounds out of your monitor mix, so you can concentrate on your performance to deliver a killer take the first time around.
Designed for pros, good fit for anyone
These headphones are designed to deliver sound that is full-bodied and accurate, so you hear your performance as it should be heard. Their extended frequency response means you'll be monitoring the whole mix, from high-frequency detail all the way down to those low bass notes. The extra-long coiled cable gives you plenty of room to maneuver in the studio without tripping you up. With both miniplug and 1/4" connectors, these headphones are great for mobile listening as well as recording. They're also good headphones for setting up a small home studio or a portable computer-based recording rig.
Keep connected until it's time to wrap up
The SRH440's cable detaches from the left earcup, though only when you want it to thanks to the clever locking mechanism designed to prevent accidental disconnections. When it's time to call it a day, detach the cable, fold up the 'phones, stash them in the included carrying case, and throw them in your bag until you need them for your next session.
