Our take on the Kicker 10TCVT102

Pickup truck owners swear by their vehicles, from sporty compacts to half-ton construction workhorses, but one thing a pickup doesn't provide is a good place to fit a subwoofer. Kicker developed the loaded CompVT enclosure to bring big bass performance to the tight spots in your truck.

The Kicker 10TCVT102 enclosure features Kicker's CompVT 10" thin subwoofer, which provides impressive bass response with its injection-molded polypropylene cone and ribbed Santoprene™ rubber surround. The sub's steel basket includes a perimeter venting system that cools the internal parts, so the CompVT will handle up to 400 watts RMS.

The sealed enclosure houses the sub in medium-density fiberboard, while the gray and black carpet covering and emblazoned Kicker logo give the box style for miles. You'll be impressed by how much premium bass can come from an enclosure that measures under 7 inches deep and fits right behind the seat of your pickup.

The name Kicker says it all.

I purchased this enclosed 10" sub about a year ago along with JL 250W mono amplifier for my 2012 Mazda Mazda5 Microvan. I also upgraded all factory speakers with Focal CA's; 6-1/4" in in rear and 5-1/4" component on fronts with crossovers. Once everything was in, vehicle was transformed into something completely different. Upgraded system just brought everything to life, with hard hitting techno's to contemporary pop, sound stage became something that normally comes with vehicles in the $40-50K range (bought the Mazda5 Grand Touring for about $24K and change). It gets better; when speakers and sub were broken in, it became even better; I even had to turned down the gain on the amp to reduce the amount of bass. Don't let the price of this sub fool you, because Kicker sub just rocks!

Pros: Deep bass, tight punch, awesome sustain

Cons: Does not come with grill; you have to buy it separate.

I put two of these in my single cab Colorado, got them $150 a piece at Best Buy. With a 250 watt kicker amp, they sound soooo good, and they cant blow out. They kick hard, they bump loud, and any long sustained bass sounds incredible. I couldn't have asked for more for the price. Not to mention it was ridiculously easy to install.

Perfect for me

Aaron from Oakland, CA on 3/5/2012

This sub has been exactly what I wanted. It's very compact and fits behind the bench seat in my standard cab Tacoma. The low frequency response is perfect if you listen to anything with a lot of sub bass; moving from my old sub that bottomed out at 35hz to the Kicker had an amazing effect on what I could hear. And, of course, volume is key. Driving at it's full 400 watts puts me well into hearing damage range before I hit any distortion. If you like modulated sub bass in your music, have a small space to work with, and want to crank it up this little 10" is a great way to go.

Pros: Compact, deep frequency response, loud

Simply amazing!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It has so much potential in a tuned enclosure. Thinking of designing a T/L enclosure for SPL and a sealed stealth enclosure for everyday. Tempted to get another one or maybe the 12".

Pros: "Like my boto...small but he bang!". The compact box that Kicker places it in is less than half (0.38 cubic feet) of their minimum recommended enclosure (0.8 cubic feet). I can easily shake up my 2000 Blazer and I still haven't pushed it to it's max. I've only pushed under 100 watts and the output seems many folds over!

Cons: Nothing is wrong with this product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This speaker, Now a pair, Is simply awesome. I've always used KICKER for my subs' in all my vehicles. This is perfect for my truck. Crew cabs' don't have a ton of room in them, but, these fit absolutely perfect under my rear seats. They hit hard and are very responsive to all types of music. Anybody looking for a lot of sound without a big box, here they are.

Amazing! that's all I can say about this sub! i have it in the back of my 2003 GMC sierra single cab, I'm 6'3" and can put the seat all the way back without a problem. This sub hits so hard in my truck i can't use any of my mirrors at times! Great for all music i mostly listen to country but sometimes hip-hop and this sub doesn't fail.

Enclosure: The Kicker 10TCVT102 subwoofer sealed-enclosure is specially designed to stand up to harsh automotive environments. The enclosure is made of advanced material and construction techniques to maintain optimal performance for years to come. The inside of the enclosure is computer-modeled and human fine-tuned to offer a high level of bass performance. The box is covered with durable grey carpeting and black vinyl.

Mounting: The Kicker 10TCVT102 enclosure is made to fit behind the seat of a pickup truck, coupe or wherever space is limited and is engineered to provide the best bass response when firing into the back of the seat.

Clearance Plate: The reason the 10TCVT102 enclosure is slim and can fit in tight places is because of a thin metallic Clearance Plate that allows room for the mounted woofers massive magnet and motor structure.

10" Woofer: The Kicker 10TCVT102 enclosure uses a front-firing 10" CompVT subwoofer for loud, pounding bass.

  • Spoke Cone: The cone is a modified spoke cone design which helps it fit in this very slim enclosure. The ultra high performance injection molded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with 360° back bracing.
  • Ribbed Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.
  • Basket and Motor Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting relieves pressure under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.
  • Tinsel Leads: CVT subwoofers use Spiraled tinsel-lead technology, which allows the ideal amount of flex for better strength and durability. The tinsel lead wires are woven into the spider to relieve mechanical stress.

2-Ohm Load: The Kicker 10TCVT102 enclosure is internally wired for a 2 ohm load at the speaker-wire connection terminal. The enclosure's silver-plated, spring loaded, binding posts are located on the left-hand side of the box and can accept up to 12-gauge speaker wire.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.
