Review the Kicker 40CS54

Joel from Norcross, GA on 10/15/2017

2001 Nissan Altima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had to replace a power window regulator in my 2001 Nissan Altima which required taking off the door panel and saw that the factory installed speaker surround material had turned to a dusty powder so got some of the Kicker 40CS54 and decided to install them in the back panel first (same powdery residue). They came with some installation instructions specific to my vehicle and I thought no way I needed to take out the entire back seat just for this job but I was wrong. The instructions were exactly right on what I needed to do and how to do it. Removing all that stuff is not hard but does expose some sheet metal on which somebody got cut as some blood smears started to show up here and there - who's bleeding? Oh it's me so I did have to stop for a minutes and fix that. So far I am happy with the installation of the Kickers. I'm past the age of super blasting power and loudness so for my purposes these seem to be doing the job nicely.

Pros: Easy installation job - be sure to follow the vehicle specific instructions even if you don't think you need to follow them.

2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The price was right and I want to try out some different speaker in the Wrangler. These are softer than the stock speakers but much, much clearer. I can only imagine what they sound like with a nice amplifier pushing them. Seem to be more of a surround sound feeling. Not a lot of bass in comparison to what was from the factory. I still have one install in the sound bar above the new Alpine woofer to balance the sound. It's worth the loss of some volume/bass to gain some nice clear highs. I'll try another in its place soon to see how it compares.

Pros: Clean highs Instruments and hard to hear effects pulled from the background Clear separation of vocals

Cons: Some static in between songs at high volume. Needs a decent amp onboard your stock radio or a separate one to truly shine. No improvement of bass with stock radio

Sound Great!! I replace the factory 4x6's in the dash of my 2002 Jeep Wrangler. These fit great the adapter plate and wire harness provided. I am feeding each of them with 50 watts RMS from my Kenwood KAC-M3004 Compact 4-channel amplifier. Bought another pair and gave my sons 1999 Wrangler the exact same treatment.

Pros: Sound Great!! Great price!!

Changed these out on an 03 chevy silverado. Had older Sony xplodes that had a smaller unknown rms wattage, but we're 6". I wanted to give kicker a chance and got these along with the kicker 43csx464. They compliment each other so well and while it does lack a bit in the lower spectrum it makes up for offering a tight punch in its mid base. I'm satisfied with it so far.

Install was easy enough. I've been a kicker customer for 15 years and these live up to the kicker name. I was looking for something to bring up the mids and highs because the 2 12 kicker comp r's i got was drowning out the factory speakers. They pair perfect with a subwoofer if your not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on components.

Pros: Very affordable and simple to install

These speakers are amazing. I bought 4 to replace to factory speakers in my Taurus. They have made all the difference. If you are looking for a lot of bass, these are not the speakers for you. However, if you are looking for that much bass, you'll want a subwoofer. These would make great companions for that sub. I am extremely happy with my purchase. Angel from Pittsburgh, PA on 7/31/2016

2001 Honda Prelude
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For not being able to use my stock amp anymore, and for the stock rears to have absolutely no range without said amp, I'm pretty cool with this replacement. Not the best I've had, but it's a definite improvement. My exhaust (sadly) drowns out a lot of music, especially with the lack of sound deadening, so I wasn't out for audiophile gear to begin with. These little guys do what I wanted - provide bass where I had none, and allow the staging to still be balanced. If I keep the car long enough, I'll invest in something more, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got.

Pros: Stock had no low end at all after the head unit swap. It's nice to have some bass back.

Cons: I replaced 6x9's with these. I could probably say that stock performance was better, but stock didn't give me USB and bluetooth. My exhaust came from some uncharted level of hell (thanks, GReddy), so I'm not too anal about audio, but a bit fuller range would be nice. Still too good to not use.

cinabinet from Charleston, SC on 7/11/2016

2004 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good value speakers. Replaced 2 factory speakers in sound pods and 2 component sets in front dash corners. Sound is no longer"muddy" and can also achieve higher volume before distorting. I'm running a Pioneer head unit with no amp and am pleased with the sound. Other reviewers have complained about the lack of bass. These are 5.25" mids and tweeters, not 10" subs. Having said that, they still are capable of a decent amount of bass if you tweak your settings correctly. I do have the factory sub setup in the center console with its small 75w amp, but the Kickers with the sub bypassed still produced a satisfactory amount of low end when cruising with doors and windows out.

Pros: Easy install Good clarity Excellent value

Cons: None

Good not great

Armando from Longmont, CO on 7/7/2016

2003 Acura 3.2TL
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These 5.25 coaxial speakers are pretty good, they sound only slightly better than the stock bose speakers I replaced them with. The lower end, in fact is much muddier than the stock speakers, the highs on the other end are definitely brighter as the stock speakers have no tweeters. To be fair, these are slightly smaller than my stock speakers and I am running off my head unit(pioneer AVH-X5800BHS). Part of my step upgrade plan. Front stage is next along with an amp. What I did to compensate for the bottoming out is this; I moved the fader slightly more to the rear(where these kickers are), set the rear high pass at a 160 hertz cutoff with a maximum slope(-24db) and set the front(stock no tweeters) to cut at a much lower frequency with a lesser slope(-12db), for now this seems to put the overall soundstage at a satisfactory setting. I guess i was expecting a miracle in sound transformation after dreaming of replacing the rear for so long. Keep in mind that these are moderately priced speakers, that being said, the value of these speakers make it a welcome addition. My final thought; if budget is a concern, and you understand maximizing your sound stage as well as the limitations of size(5.25 can not move a lot of air) than these speakers should fit the bill. If you just need a brighter upgrade to stock these are perfect.

Pros: Easy install, much brighter than stock, will almost fit anywhere, 75 rms and a decent price.

Cons: limited lower end performance(5.25 and polypropylene), bottoms out at about 160 or lower unamplified.

I absolutely loved these speakers. Bought to replace the old factory Bose speakers that just completely stopped working on me one day. First time doing my own door speakers, so I was a litter nervous about install. The box came with its own grey wires that you could solder for better speaker connections but I used the clip wires that came with them. When I got the first speaker in, I was completely blown away by the sound quality that these little speakers could push! Looking for rear deck speakers now. Definitely a great buy!

So at first I was frustrated buying these because I have JL Audio speakers in the front and woofers in the rear. JL Audio does not make a speaker size in the 5 -1/4 that fit my car. After doing some research I came across these that many people had nothing but good things to say so I gave it a chance. I was definitely surprised by the clarity, loudness and overall sound of these speakers. I have these powered by a Kenwood Excelon 900 amp and have no regrets with my purchase. I would recommend these speakers.

I put these in my soundbar an hour ago. Only took about 15 minutes to install. They are a dramatic improvement over the stock speakers. No, they won't kick like a subwoofer but handle the lows much better than stock. No amp, just Pioneer head unit. Wow! Amazing sound and power handling from such small speakers

David from san antonio, TX on 3/2/2016

Installed in rear doors of 2003 Nissan Maxima. Replaced the factory Bose head unit last year with the Pioneer AppRadio4 and lost the audio signal to my factory sub and tweeters. (Must have been something in the processor logic from the Bose head unit and factory amp.) I replaced the Bose sub with a Kicker 8" Comp RT and Kicker mono amp (Thanks, Crutchfield!), and added some after-market tweeters wired directly the new head unit. The Kicker sub really brought out the bass, but the rest of the system was still somewhat lacking. This year I decided to ditch the rest of the Bose system and installed these Kickers in the rear doors first. The sound was okay, but not much better than the factory speakers. I figured maybe it was the 2ohms still being passed from the factory amp. I then installed the Alpine 445U compact amp (only 45W rms) and a pair of Polk Db6501s for the front. I was a little concerned at first that maybe I had bought too low an rms rated amp, but WOW! The whole system came alive!. I experimented with turning off the sub and fading all the signal to the rear speakers and I can't believe how much volume that these speakers can handle and still be clear. They are so small, but so powerful. Hearing is believing. I didn't know that this kind of sound was possible from my old car. A note: I also added some Dynamat in the doors and trunk before I replaced any of the speakers and it made a significant difference to the factory setup. Even more so with the new speakers.

Pros: Rich bass, clear highs, incredibly powerful.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have these installed in a 2000 Buick Regal with the same line 6x9s in the rear. Overall, I'm pretty impressed. Considering their small size they put out decent bass, but far from subwoofers or even their 6x9 cousins. I should actually say they put out a sound that lets you know what the bass line sounds like rather than what it feels like, which is fine with me, The highs don't come off as too bright and the mids are good too. I should also mention that right now I only have them powered by the stock headunit, which is really why I'm impressed. If they can change my speakers from being the worst I've heard to one of the best being driven by a 16 year-old STOCK head unit, imagine what they can do with an amp! Or even just an aftermarket stereo!

Pros: Very good drop-in replacements. Don't expect God to manifest in audio form, but rather expect a pretty extraordinary improvement.

Cons: None really.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 4 of these to replace the factory door speakers in my 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4-door pickup. The original speakers were toast and I had replaced the head unit with a decent JVC putting out 20 watts RMS about 2 years ago. These speakers put out really clear highs and mids but little bass. I was not expecting license plate vibrating thumps, but a little depth to the sound was expected despite the size of the speaker cone. I played with the internal EQ settings in the head unit, but at low volume levels it is still rather tinny. I'm upsizing the rear speakers to 6x8's and am considering a powered sub. A powered sub may be the perfect recipe, but these speakers alone, even with the aftermarket head unit, just don't cut it for full sound. All that being said they weren't that much per pair... and required no mods to the door panels to install.

Pros: Clean install, highs, mids

Cons: Sound fullness, bass quality especially at low-mid volume levels.

In the jeep the speakers seemed to give a richer sound definition than the old paper factory speakers. The fit was a little different but no modifications were needed using the existing factory speaker covers. I may need to get an amp to get the full potential from these speakers as I did not notice much of a difference when there were turned up loud. I figure it is just the poor quality aftermarket that was put in this jeep. Some day a full stereo mod will go down!

Awesome Little Speakers

Skeptic68 from Speedway, IN on 11/13/2015

The paper speakers in my 1995 Mercury Tracer were blown so I ordered these based on a recommendation from a Crutchfield rep. When I installed the first one I tested it against the paper and I was pretty upset. The highs were tinny, the mids and lows were basically non-existant. I was ready to send them back but I was in a rush so I left it in for my commute. During the commute I remembered that I had turned the bass and treble all the way down because the paper speakers were so distorted that it made them pop and rattle. Once I turned that back up it was night and day. I finished putting in the other 3 speakers this morning and I have to say, even on a stock, awful ford head unit from the early 90s with no amp these little speakers rock. I am very happy with them for under 100 bucks. The mounting tabs included leave a little to be desired and the bracket is plastic but you can't really complain when they're free. They get the job done.

Pros: Low price, Well rounded speaker

Cons: None after I played with the head unit adjustments.

Not very happy with these speakers. I replaced my stock speakers with these. I'm still using my stock radio (8.4" dodge ram system) The highs are tingy and the mids and lows don't exist. I ended up putting my factory speakers back in and it sounds much better.

Pros:

Cons:

Crutchfield response on 10/19/2015 That's a common reaction when replacing car speakers. In the case of these Kicker speakers, they're going to need more power than your factory speakers needed in order to sound their best. They likely won't sound good at all on a factory stereo. You'll either need to add an aftermarket stereo or an amplifier (a small, 4-channel amp can supply twice the power of an aftermarket stereo and three or four times the power of the typical factory radio) or return these and get speakers with a higher sensitivity. Either way, we'll be glad to help - just give us a call.

For the size, it has a better sound than the Sony XPlods I had replaced, which would pop on the lows. These tend to hand the bass a little better for their small size and they have a pretty high power handling capability as well.

Speakers were for a Toyota Sequoia. Speakers work fine and sound great as long as the back speakers are on too. Alone they lack any bass at all. Hardest piece was figuring out how to reuse the brackets from the old speakers. It would have been easier if I had new brackets which fitted both speaker and car as the included hardware could never work.

Pros: Fits in car, sound good with back speakers

The kicker speakers have always been recognized as a good brand and this is no different. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered a pair of these for my 2000 Volvo S40 . I replaced the factory speakers in the rear deck . The factory speakers had lost their surrounds and sounded awful . I replaced the factory head unit with an inexpensive jvc which is too much for these 15 year old speakers . When I hooked in these kickers wow ! The difference was amazing . The tweeters absolutely scream and the woofer delivers a surprising low end . I've ran kicker subwòofers in the past so I am aware of the high quality to value ratio . I'm more than satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend you get these . I'm going to replace my door speakers with this same pair . The install took about 15 minutes . Super easy with equipment included . The Crutchfield staff made ordering a snap and were extremely friendly and gave direct answers to my questions . So in all I would recommend this product as well as Crutchfield . More than satisfied .

Installed in 2005 Honda Civic rear deck. That factory speakers had more volume. Disappointed in Kicker.

Pros: Decent highs.

Cons: No bass noticeable. Factory speakers sound way better. Do not buy.

Crutchfield response on 4/7/2015 It's not uncommon for people to report hearing less bass with new speakers. Factory speakers are often made of cheap, flimsy materials. When you replace that with a better quality speaker, it'll need a little more power than the cheap one did to produce the same amount of bass. But the bass (and all of the music, for that matter) that you do hear will be cleaner and more detailed.

I bought these to replace old warn out factory speakers for the rear doors in my daughter's 2002 Saturn L series. I did not have any set expectations based on the reviews already posted being across the board but I was very pleasantly surprised. For their size the do actually have decent bass. Their mid and high sections are very well rounded and do not come off as being overly bright. If and when I need to replace any speakers in my 8 year old Civic I just may end up using Kickers after all. I usually went with Kenwood, Sony or JVC (even Clarion and Pioneers) in years past but these were nicely made and look like they will hold up well. Overall, these 5 1/4's are a really nice replacement speakers for a great price.

Pros: Baskets were not too deep and will more than likely work in almost any car door. The materials in the speakers are great for longevity in the harsh "door environment" they will live in too.

Cons: The only negative that comes to mind is the single mounting pattern with virtually all 5 1/4 speakers.

I installed 4 of these guys into my 2004 Jeep Wrangler about 2 weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased. I had reasonable expectations of what they would be able to do for me and they have matached/surpassed them! These speakers are installed in the stock overhead rollbar mount (two) and in dash-mounted speaker pods (two) purchased from Crutchfield as well. They are all being pushed by a 250W amp- all together they are giving me great sound in a Jeep- which is hard to do! As can be expected, there isn't much in the way of low-end with these guys, but I have an under-seat powered sub that covers that- these guys are doing a great job covering the mids and highs!

Pros: Happy with them! Great mids and highs and they look great to boot!

I installed these speakers on my wife's 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4-door, into the boxes on the roll-bar. Had to use the wiring adapter, along with the bracket that was provided by Crutchfield. Although I could've used a larger speaker in the existing hole, the speakers sound great. Excellent highs and the mids sound great. I've got subwoofers so I've dialed down the bass on the speakers to keep them from distorting. These speakers are powered only by the stock radio, no amp, and they still put out great sound!! I'd buy these again for my wife's jeep any day.

I bought these as a set of kickers for my new Mini. they replaced polks DXI in my old car. I got the 6x9's, 51/4's and some tweeters. Sound is nice for new speakers and these little speakers have nice punch! I have an Alpine head unit and power pack with a JL mono amp and ported 12 kicker sub. I bought these for temporary speakers until could buy expensive ones. No break in time yet and I need to set the speakers to my car, but for now, I am very pleased with the quality of the sound. I may not need the expensive speakers ? Ask me in a year.......

Pros: they fit as was told and all the goodies for install was there. nice punch for little speakers!

Cons: none so far, if they last ?

Decided that it was time to upgrade my factory speakers in my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Very happy with the quality and sound, but I'm not looking to shatter any windows with my system. Definitely an improvement from the stock speakers. Install was extremely easy and Crutchfield was excellent in telling me what to expect (that the speaker covers don't fit). Nice price, too!

Pros: Easy install, good sound.

Cons: The speaker covers don't fit in a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. No biggie, just have to use the factory covers.

Definite difference in sound quality verses factory Ford Escape speakers. The sound is so much clearer with these Kickers. It won't make any difference if you're looking to improve the base, but that goes for almost all speakers. The main difference is the clearness. I can pick out different instruments much easier with these. Great speakers for the price. Pair them with a sub and the sound will rock.

I guess i needed to upgrade my head unit / put in an amplifier because these speakers were half as good as the 16 year old factory speakers. They would probably be great but i would not recommend them unless you have a newer car or are willing to replace more than just the front (kick panel) speakers.

There's nothing else to say about Kicker products except they are the best speakers on the market hands down. If you are able to install these speakers you will be amazed with the quality. I have been listening to Kicker products since I was in high school and that was a long time ago. Kicker has been around a long time and they have cornered the market with their quality products. Every vehicle I own I always upgrade with Kicker and I'm always satisfied. If you need an adapter to install these speakers I'm sure Crutchfield has it. I know because I have ordered them on many occasions and Crutchfield always has what I need.

Anonymous from Cedar City, UT on 3/19/2014

2008 Chevrolet Silverado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently installed these in the back doors of my 08 Silverado extended cab. They do not come with brackets, or make any that I know of. I followed some suggestions I found online and used the existing bracket. I simply used a razor knife to cut the paper woofer away from the surround, then a small hand saw to cut through the plastic brackets on the back side. The speaker simply falls away from the frame. These Kickers fit "almost" perfectly into the existing bracket, except for the mounting screw slots which just barely overlap the edge of the bracket. This is easily fixed by placing the speaker where you want to mount it, use a sharpie to mark the edges of the overlap, and then take a sharp knife to cut away those spots and voila, it fits like a gem. Use some small screws to mount the speaker and you're done. These along with the 6 1/2" for the fronts have make a huge improvement in sound quality even without replacing the stock head unit.

The car does not offer any opportunity to go bigger as far as fitment, but the selection to choose from balances that out, as I really thought about what type of music I would be plaing the majority of the time, and going with the specifics of each speaker, I made the best choice as all of the music is crystal clear and full of sound from the highs to the lows.

In an era of "fiscal responsibility" I've been stuck with a 2002 Honda Civic. I've always had great stock stereo speakers. You can imagine my dismay at getting into the Civic and turning the radio on for the first time. It was like it wasn't stereo. So I was helped by a Crutchfield sales rep that told me these would liven things up. When I turned the new radio on with the speakers it was like Dorothy opening up the door for the first time when she landed on OZ, when it went from B&W to color. Tight base, nice sound separation. I am very pleased and would highly recommend especially if you're on a tight budget.

Purchased these to replace a pair of tired MB Quart speakers. The Kickers have a much better sound that will only improve as they break-in. Clear mid-range, crisp high's and a tight low-end. If you are giving these a low rating because you cannot 'hear' the bass perhaps you've hooked them up incorrectly(I have done that a few times) or you have completely unrealistic expectations for a 5.25" speaker - this size will never 'hit' like a sub.

I was kind of worried when I purchased these speakers along with the 4x6 kickers. After the install, I was very surpised of the sound quality. I mostly listen to alternative, grunge style and rock. Before purchasing these speakers I was undecided and I was leaning toward Polk Audio and Infinity. I called Crutchfield and spoke with advisor Chad. I told him what speakers I was thinking about buying and he asked what type of music did I listen to, and then recommended the kicker 5.25 and 4x6. These are excellent speakers. I hear things now in my music I did not hear with my factory speakers. My next speaker purchase will be kicker and Crutchfield is where I will buy all of my audio equipment. My 2003 Rubicon's factory speakers were starting to give up the ghost so I need to replace them. Read a bunch of reviews and these seem to come up as a good option. Have been listening to them for a couple of weeks now and they have been a huge improvement over stock. My seven year old Kenwood deck sounds 100% better and I can now hear music over the drone of the 35" Super Swamper tires.

Pros: Easy installation. Great sound without needing a lot of power to drive them.

Cons: None really, although I need to add some bass to my system.

Clear sound in a small speaker. Of course low bass is not expected from this size speaker. These are in front doors paired with pair 40CS684 in rear doors. Pioneer head unit is ample power to drive these very efficient speakers. I will be adding a sub to fill out the bottom end. This should be a good match.

Pros: efficient, moderate depth, low price, Crutchfield includes 6x8 adapters and wiring harness.

Cons: Kicker screws and clips don't want to thread into each other.

Outperforms Other Speakers

ADO from Powell, WY on 9/16/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speaker value for the money. This was a Crutchfield recommendation to help me fit a tight space, and the speakers outperform those I ordered for the rear. although they were the same price. They are clear and responsive even at high volumes. I recommend them for anyone looking for a decent speaker at a lower price.

Pros: Good sound even at higher volumes. Fit into a tight space in the front door. Noticeably better than my (new) rear speakers.

Cons: Connections at the speaker were suspect but no problems in 2 weeks use so far. Test b4 you put the car back together.

i replace my front door factory speakers,2013 focus.at first i was a little disappointed,i lost almost all my bass, sounded muddy, but the highs and midrange were good,i added a 50x 4 watt amp to the factory radio, these speakers sound awesome now.Bass is decent, if you want killer bass, you gotta add a sub,no door speaker is gonna thump.after installing amp i used the fader to compare these to factory speakers in rear,no comparison, the kickers rocked.i just ordered another set for the rear.

Pros: clarity of tweeters and mids

Cons: none

I replaced my factory speakers with the Kicker 40CS54, thinking I would get better sound. I honestly can say that I noticed no difference between the two. I have always used kenwood or pioneer equipment on my stereo upgrades, but these were recommended. I am a little disappointed but not enough to take the time and take them back out and replace them.

Pros: Decent speaker

Cons: Could not tell any difference between stock and these speakers.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from these as they are a rather cheap replacement for the stock speakers in my jeep, but wow! They are really, really good! The bass is way better than I had ever anticipated (not comparable to having a subwoofer tho) and the sound quality is spectacular. Crutchfield also did a great job getting it to me quickly and having all of the correct mounting brackets and cables.

Pros: Great sound Great price Bass is good Sound quality is amazing

Cons: Hard bass kicks can sometimes come out a little warped, but other than that there is nothing bad about them.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speaker prices are excellent. They arrived on time and in perfect condition with all the information and extras as promised. However, once installed I was somewhat disappointed in the the lack of mid range frequency output. I was told when I called customer service that I can have some low-end cross overs installed to minimize the over abundant hi range out put. They only cost a couple of bucks. Since I have not upgraded the factory head unit yet in the '09 Jetta Wolfsburg, there is not much power coming from the head unit to drive the speakers so that may also be part of the problem, I'm not sure. I have read reviews though where other people just replaced the speakers and were really happy with the sound. What I do know is it's a pain in the rear to get the door dismantled so I will have to wait until I get a new head unit and see what happens. The stock speakers had much better low end sound, and they were real crap. Although these are very clear, there is no low end coming through at all. I expected a much fuller sound. Not super impressed as factory replacements only.

Pros: Price

Cons: Very little Low end

These speakers rock more on the mid and highs, replaced from old Polk speakers. All I had to do and to others as well just turn fading control to more towards rear right and left sides and it all balances out just fine. Just using CD/radio for now 14 watts per channel. I'll add amp in awhile.

Pros: Louder than old Polk s

Cons: Had to adjust fade more towards back of car to Pioneer 6by9's.

Not as good as factory

The Man Of Steel from Utah on 6/29/2013

Fairly decent clarity on the high end, bass has distortion and rattle at the exact same volume where the stock speaker sounds deep and clear. My truck does have the Bose system stock, and I have replaced the head unit with a Pioneer. The new head unit made the Bose speaker system sound twice as good but one speaker in the front door was completely dead. I chose the Kicker to replace it because of what Kicker said about their own quality. I am an audiophile but you don't have to be one to plainly hear the cheapness compared to the factory Bose. Running the balance from right to left without changing the volume, I hear deep, clear bass on the factory speaker side, and I hear rattly, distorted noise on the Kicker side. I confirmed the Kicker is not defective. That is just the way it sounds when given a little volume from a head unit with no amplifier. I'm going to try a brand I have already known to sound good in the past, like Alpine or MTX. Kicker is outta there.

Pros: Fit my vehicle.

Cons: Crappy sound.

Chose these to replace the OEM speakers on my Rav4. The original speakers had an awful awful, 'boomy' sound. Picked these out based on the advice of the Crutchfield advisor. Pretty easy to install, and the sound is a nice improvement. Much more balanced sound.

Cons: Not that I'm aware of.

Kicker 5 1/4's

Matt B. from Baltimore, Md on 6/12/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased two pairs of these Kickers to swap out the stock (junk) speakers in my Suzuki. As other reviewers have stated, these speakers don't have much bass to offer. They sound great, and I have 2 12's for the bass. For the price point, I have no complaints, great value, great price. If you don't have a sub to back these up, you should get one, or consider a higher quality component set, and additional amplification for your speakers.

Pros: Great sound, value

Cons: Limited bass response

Pros: 75 watt power handling crystal clear sound even with the amp pushing them hard well worth the price

Cons: Not much in the way of bass but they are 5 1/4 what do you expect. I put a sealed and powered Sound ordance 8'' sub under the seat and it balances out perfectly

I currently have these hooked up to the stock head unit. I am not impressed at all. I did purchase a new head unit as well with components for the front that did not make it in yet. I hope these get A LOT better with the head unit or they will be going back. I will update after I finish the install.

Pros: Clear highs

Cons: I don't expect bass, but no mids noticeable either.
