It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Built tough

Kicker's 40CS674 speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. These speakers sound great powered by a factory radio or an aftermarket car stereo, and they'll really rock when connected to an external amplifier. Grilles are included.

Product Highlights:

  • 2-way 6-3/4" speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer cone with polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 40-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-7/8"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

These speakers sound great. We replaced the stock speakers in a 1990 Miata. VAST improvement, and even with the top down the distortion-free output level and fidelity are impressive. Absolutely recommend as an upgrade for a very fair price.

Rob, Lyme, NH

What's in the Box:

Short lived speakers. Disappointing!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounded great when new. Barely over a year (out of warranty) and one blew. Never more than the receiver deck pushing them, no amp. Contacted Kicker and they said i would have to purchase a new one. Very disappointing since i thought they would last since i was not using them with an amp.

Pros: Sounded good when new.

Cons: Product not made well. Failed just out of warranty....

Solid sound!

I expected more out of kicker.... these speakers didn't make it a year in my Silverado on a stock radio. I ordered 4 of them. 2 made it almost 6 months and the other 2 mad it only 8 months

Pros: Can't really think of any

Cons: Terrible life span

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price, I was very satisfied with these Kickers. I shopped around for a while before finally settling on these to replace my rear speakers. Installation took a little while but was much easier than I expected thanks to the provided master sheet by Crutchfield. I only had two slight problems while installing them. First off, the one speaker's terminals were bent slightly flat, and I had to straighten them to get the harness connecters on. Second, I ended up not being able to use the grills. I couldn't attach them with the factory hardware. The speakers did come with their own mounting hardware that may have worked, but they would have been a tight fit anyway. I had resigned to the fact that I would probably lose a little bass response vs my stock speakers. Turns out I was very wrong. These speakers have a slightly better bass response and are naturally crisper than the stock speakers. Are there better speakers out there? Sure. But at the price, these were a great purchase. I will probably buy a pair to replace my front speakers.

Pros: Quality for the price Works well on my stock unit

I saw a lot of positive reviews for these speakers and decided to give them a shot. I ended up returning them for some Infinity Primus for around the same price. I am much more happy with the Infinity. Thank you Crutchfield for such a great return policy.

Pros: Build quality.

Cons: Highs is too piercing for my taste. Bass sounds uncontrolled and not that strongest.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is not a good time to ask my opinion, but here goes ...1st the advisor & your web page & catalog all said these speakers would work with a 2001 Camaro convertible. With factory mono rec. Stereo. But 4 wires coming from stereo and only 2 from speakers.... Talked to technical support & he confirmed that these speakers won't work.said he would mail me return address label in mail b/c I don't have access to a printer right now 2 weeks later still no return labels.... Sent E-mail to customer service requesting a return label & they send me one by E-mail, so I'm going to find a way to some how print it off. As you can see my experience is and was not very pleasant. I guess this all falls under customer service.....Can't leave a favorable review & be honest as well...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I searched the web before purchase. You can buy these speakers anywhere for the same price. But nowhere do you get the extras for those same dollars. The Crutchfield package is awesome! I purchased 2 sets (4 speakers) for my 2008 Chevy Silvarado. Installation could not have been easier with the add ons. The speaker brackets fit the doors exactly. The wire connectors required no crimping or soldering on either end. One end fit the speakers, one end plugged right into the factory wiring. I have not installed any stereo equipment since I was a kid in my first cars. Cars were much simpler then. The Crutchfield instructions were perfect and easy to follow to get all of my door panels off. But in the end it is the sound that matters. I had no clue how horrible my factory speakers sounded until I got these installed. WOW, I can drive around blasting the neighbors like the kids do. Stop surfing, these ARE the speakers you are looking for, and this IS the place to buy them

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a little concerned about how these would sound because they were so reasonably priced. I installed them in my Suburban rear doors that are powered with a factory amp. They sound great, no buzzing and they were super easy to install. Huge improvement over the paper speakers I replaced. Great service from Crutchfield as always, received my order freight free in 3 days. I recommend using the wire that comes with the speakers if your vehicle wiring has the standard size spades, the male connectors on the speakers are small.

Pros: Clean sound, reasonable price, easy installation, new wiring pigtails included.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow is all I can say. Installed these in a 2006 silverado ext cab. Bass bass bass... The OEM speakers were shot . These replacements are by far the best money I ever spent.I coupled these with the factory GM radio. Dont let GM delcos fool you. They pack a punch at about 15 watts I would say. I wanted to use the factory brackets but only 6 1/2's would work. You have to drill anyways so I made the 6 3/4s work. added weather stripping around the outside so no metal to metal contact.. The MasterSheet was a bit off for my year truck though to get the door panel off.

Pros: Not a lot of money. Great upgrade for a factory AC delco gm head unit.. Lots of bass.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers for the price. The only problem I had with them, they don't seem to recreate bass too well. So, they might not be good for people who don't have a subwoofer to compensate for this . But if they're being run on a decent aftermarket head unit or an amp, They are great for people looking for loud and clear music.

Pros: Great highs output. When properly powered, they sounds amazing. And, they last a long time. I've yet to blow one out

Cons: The bass reproduction could be better if you're someone who isn't running subs. And the terminals on them are a little flimsy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the rear speakers in a 16' Civic LX with these and for the money, I wouldn't give them back. Powered by a 4-channel alpine amp, they compliment with the Infinity mid and tweeter package I put up front. Although I didn't do it, dynamat might be a good option in the back especially if you are going to run a sub. Crutchfield includes the harness and mounting adapters you will need.

Pros: Perfect speakers for the rear deck replacement.

Cons: None with the speakers, but Honda sure Doesn't make it easy to get the rear speakers out. Do your research or have them installed.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had purchased four of these for the Misses Yukon, they sound a whole lot better then stock and I kept the Misses happy by not spending a whole lot of green$. The fronts went right in but the backs required some "customizing" to the plastic speaker mount. Pop out the three bolts holding the speaker mount fortunately I own a Roto Zip and trimming the unwanted plastic was easy. Very messy but easy, so do your "customizing" where it make sense. Also just to make things a bit more challenging, I always solder and heat shrink.

Pros: Nice sound.

Great mid range speakers.

Pros: - I put two pair in my 2002 Tahoe. The ones in the back doors fit so well I was able to use the existing holes to mount these speakers. - I did have to drill holes for the front speakers and they worked fine. - The master sheet was helpful. - The added adapter wires that came with the speakers where great. No wire splicing needed at all. - I used the 6 3/4 inch XTC Speaker Baffles. I think they helped.

Cons: - None so far after two weeks of use.

Made a WORLD of difference on the OEM system. First upgrade I've done with huge impact. I now realize I've heard only half the music for the length of time I've owned my vehicle. Can hear all the details and much richer sound across the audio spectrum.

Pros: * great upgrade to stock speakers * wide range of input power. Planning to do more upgrades down the line with a head unit and amp. Won't have to touch these again!

Cons: * packaged screws a bit small in diameter for my application. Not Kicker's fault, but you may need to supply your own, depending on how you are mounting these.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in a Kia Cerato hatchback (Forte 5 in the US). They gave a big improvement in the sound but the original stereo does not have enough power to give any substantial bass through these speakers. You definitely need a sub for this or an external amplifier. Installation was easy using the brackets supplied by Crutchfield and door panel removal tools obtained from a major online retailer. One challenge for do-it-yourself people is figuring out the positive and negative wires from the stereo. You can do this by taking the old speaker and connecting its terminals to a 1.5V D size battery. If you connect the battery's positive to the speaker's positive, the speaker will push out. If it's reversed, the speaker will suck in.

Pros: Improved clarity

Cons: Still not enough bass

I like the sound of my new speakers had to modify the mounts for the speakers. Which wasn't a problem but the rear speakers were a little to big with the mounts. Could only get 1 1/2 mounting bolts in to secure them in the car. But I am ok with that they are not going anywhere.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: Little to big for the rear

Glen from Suffolk, VA on 8/11/2016

2005 Nissan Sentra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were bought to replace my factory Nissan rear speakers. I replaced the head unit a year ago and since then, my rear speakers had no output. I thought that the speakers might be bad as I had ran the wire from the speaker directly to the unit bypassing the factory wire all together and still received no output. After installing the new speakers, I still had no output. I began playing around with some of the settings, and lo and behold, I got sound. The sound I do have is VERY clear and rich. I like these speakers a lot and will be purchasing another set to replace the front factory speakers.

Pros: Great sound! Clear and very RICH!

Cons: The speaker connectors are difficult to attach wire connectors too.

OK - Lack of Bass - Not a drop in

Anonymous from Fairfax, VA on 7/13/2016

1999 Chevrolet Suburban
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As a stock replacement these speakers are just OK. Considering two speakers in the burb were not working it is great to have sound again. They were on sale but I should have stuck with Polk (I love Polk speakers and use them in my other vehicles but this is a utility burb so I went cheap). These kickers are OK but there is hardly any bass even with speaker bass cranked way up (as per other reviews). The mids and highs are OK but sound a bit hollow. If these had more bass I would have given them 4 stars. You will need to drill new holes for these speakers as they do not have the same screw pattern as the '99 burb (and the universal adapter was useless). If you are set on buying them, buy them on sale.

Pros: They work fine. Mids and highs are ok. Price at Crutchfield was OK.

Cons: Lack of bass. Installation required modification of doors.

Put these speakers in my pickup a few weeks ago, and am VERY impressed with the great sound these Kickers produce! I was a little reluctant before purchasing, mainly due to thinking I was going to have a low-end speaker for the price, with low-end sound. I could not have been more wrong If you're on the fence like I was, buy them, you'll be glad you did ??

Pros: Great sound for the price point.

Cons: None, sounded better than expected!

Just OK

Paul from Seattle, WA on 7/9/2016

2007 GMC Sierra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So the reviews all indicate that these Kicker speakers are a perfect OEM replacement. I can tell you that they are Not! Even with the stock speakers being completely blown (paper diagram was non-existent) they were better and could handle the stock head unit's power better than these. Maybe it is due to the shallow design of these Kicker speakers but sound and bass were nothing compared to the OEM ones. I am very disappointed, first at me for believing the reviews (both here and on another site) and second for a product that touts itself as a manufacturer of quality speakers. If the OEM speakers were not in such bad condition, I would have just put them back and returned these things. Low range is OK and maybe the speakers are a little clearer, but I was hoping for better bass and more sound differentiation. Sad product. Crutchfield was great. Oh, and don't believe the installation videos, you can install these on a GMC/Chevy 2007 and up rear door without removing the electrical window switches and door cables. With some simple manipulation of your hands and tools you can install by just popping the door panel off and work around the cabling.

Pros: Easy install, thanks to Crutchfield, slim design. Took me less than 10 minutes a door.

Cons: Terrible bass pickup, mid and low range is bearable. You get what you pay for. Shame on Kicker for indicating these are as good if not better than stock.

A nice replacement for the junky factory front-door speakers. The mounting holes on the speakers, are close, but they do not quite match up with the vehicle's screw holes and some small flat washers needed to be added.

The factory installed system in the Saab had 13 speakers and I wanted new speakers for the door to play well with the others. A chat with Crutchfield's tech support helped tremendously in selection and with the tools I needed to do the replacement myself. I undertook the project and was amazed that I actually made it work, in only an hour. The sound - spectacular! They play well with the system. Big thanks to Crutchfield for steering me in the right direction and saving me significant dollars in having the auto shop do it.

Pros: They play well with existing system; Great Sound; All parts necessary included; Tool list provided (by Crutchfield)

Cons: I waited too long to purchase

These are great speakers for the money. This is the second set I've purchased and I've been really happy with the performance at this price point. From a sound perspective, they are very clear, bright and accurate. They are also very efficient and produce plenty of volume using just the power from the receiver. The speaker components are solid and the magnets are hefty. I'm planning on buying another set soon

Pros: Clear, bright and accurate Great performance at a good price point Very efficient

Cons: None

For a stock replacement speaker in my 2006 SILVERADO,these Kickers were Okay. They do Not have enough Bass for me. The Mid Range is strong in them. The Highs are decent. These are speakers are acceptable, however , if I were ever to do have to replace them I would go with a different pair of speakers.

Pros: Highs and Mid- Range is "OK"

Cons: Not quite enough Bass for me.

I bought these speakers to replace the stock speakers in the front doors of my 2009 Chevy Express Van. I installed them myself using the included hardware and it took under 1/2 hour. The difference in sound from stock to these is awesome. These are not extreme bass pounding speakers but they are all-around very nice speakers. I am still using my stock head unit with no amp and my van is now rocking.

Pros: Nice price point, great sound, easy to install with Crutchfield's included hardware

This is an amazing product , talk about an over achiever . I thought this would be ok , and maybe down the road but some other speakers . After all the pair is cheaper than one or not even half the price . The old saying is you get what you pay for . In this case I really got a great speaker at a price you wouldn't think they could possibly be this good . Talking to the sales person he said you will be surprised , he should have said shocked . They made my factory system sound awesome , don't be afraid for the price , just smile and rock

Pros: Terrific price and performance. These sales people know there products

I selected these to go with the stock head unit, a move that is arguably marginal. The decision was based on wanting to upgrade step by step if so desired and these speakers seemed to be rather efficient given their size and performance. With the Crutchfield adapters, they were easy to deal with and most important, the sound is way better than the stock Subaru speakers. These were used in the front only. Very satisfied.

Pros: Good bang for the buck.

Cons: Might not have the clarity and range of some higher end speakers that would take more power to drive them.

I put these in all 4 doors of my Access Cab Tundra, and was so impressed with their sound. I used a Clairion head unit and added the Alpine 4x45 amplifier. The head unit and amp are impressive. Maybe I stretched out the ability of these Kicker speakers, but 2 of them, are distorted and playing poorly at low volume levels now. Of course they played amazingly for like 18 months...but now...time for new ones since they sound horrible. Maybe I will upgrade to a component setup for the front doors, and add a powered subwoofer. Still very happy with the head unit though!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The package was very well packed with shipping peanuts to protect them. Initially one of the boxes was a little rough around the edges but the product itself was perfectly clean. The look was very nice and the materials are really nice. The speaker just already feels more powerful. Now install time, my sets came with a wiring harness included to easy connect to a GMC harness which made these a drop in replacement. No alterations needed. After installing them the year leafy had much crisper highs and deeper lows. I recommend running them in for at least a week to a month before really blasting them so they can loosen up and reach peak performance. These speakers alone give a good a good shaking basson the stock receiver so having an aftermarket one will really get you going. These are fully reccomended, well worth the price for starter after market speakers. If you can afford find some 3-way speakers to get better mid range but these are a great upgrade over stock.

Pros: Good materials, look great, materials are solid and has a large magnet, dropped right in with no extra work, POWERRRRR. Can't go wrong with kicker.

Overall the install was a great experience. I can remember when I was younger, installing speakers and radios was an nightmare. All the new helpful brackets and wiring harnesses made things a lot more pleasant. The only beef I have is one pair of my speaker adaptors were broken, but with all that night mare experience I have accumulated over the rough years, I just glued them bad boys back together and put them in any way. One day I might get a tuner to go with the new speakers and maybe I might even get an amp to push a little more bass. but for now I am pleased with everything accept the brackets being broken. Probably happened during shipping I'm sure. Just make sure you check all your components for damage before you begin your install.

all the products were great. The front adapters fit ok when you used the Boom Mat Speaker Baffles, otherwise they would not have been as tight to the trim. The 6 3/4 did not fit in the original holes, I had to drill some extras. The rears speakers didn't have adapters. I cut out the old speaker and used the original Gm bracket. They fit to tight with the Boom Mats. But with a sharp knife and some cutting and drilling of new holes they fit pretty good. If you do this , check YouTube for hints and keep some 1/2 foam door gasket stuff around. All in all, I am very happy the way these Kickers have made my original radio sound. I would do it again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to replace my factory door speakers which where JBLs. These sound just as good to my ears...with quite a bit of bass and clear and crisp highs. Two things really made this purchase great: 1) Crutchfield knew which adapter I needed for my car and sent that free with the speakers, and 2) they e-mailed installation instructions to me soon after my purchase. It was nice to be able to plan ahead and know what I needed to do and what tools I needed for removal and re-installation of my door panels.

Pros: - Hard to beat the price for the sound quality - Installation instructions and adaptors where sent free-of-charge

Cons: - None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Noticed an improvement over OEM miata speakers. My OEM, front speakers, were still working. However, I needed a minor speaker upgrade. The kicker's did the job, it's much louder with clearer sound. BTW, the Kicker's were driven by my Head unit an AMP would surely maximize it's true potential.

Pros: Plenty of power for everyday listening, but don't expect any decent bass. You need a sub & AMP for that.

Cons: I had to drill 1 hole on each speaker to avoid drilling the door. No big deal it was worth it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used these to change out rattling stock speakers in the rear deck of my 1997 Mercedes E320. The fit was perfect but the instructions missed a minor detail about how to remove the back head rests - they were saying push them out with lots of force but the correct way is to pull the black tab to the front of the vehicle and it come out like jelly (after almost giving up 'cause that thing couldn't come out even with a crow bar). The sound quality is a definite upgrade. This added to the overall component system makes me feel good. Good top end clarity. Speaker technology has really developed over the past few decades. Now I need some low volume bass kick so I'll try a compact subwoofer and figure out where it will fit. Crutchfield is very good with customer service. Cutting edge company. Tech folks are knowledgeable and shipping is fast. Overall good experience.

One of my rear speakers broke in my 2012 Elantra and I knew the best place to go was Crutchfield.com. Using the fit guide and reviews, I selected the Kickers as a replacement set. The installation presented some challenges, as the installation instructions didn't state clearly the I would have to modify the speaker brackets; so I would encourage Crutchfield to consider updating its instructions. Once I got the speakers installed and fired up Rush's "Permanent Waves", I could tell the speakers were well worth the effort! Bass is much stronger and clean, and overall sound is significantly better than the factory speakers. My only problem now is that I guess I will have to replace the front set. ;-)

Pros: Strong bass. Crutchfield tech support.

Cons: Installation instructions could have been a little more clear. I had to call Crutchfield support twice to seek clarification.

Initially I just wanted to replace 2 blown factory door speakers, then I installed these & had to purchase 2 more Kickers for the other doors...Then a new HU...Then a powered sub. Now I'm completely overjoyed with my sound. These babies rock! Loud & Soft & crystal clear, I'm hearing lyrics & percussions in songs that I've never heard before, awesome! Of course you can find a better speaker...but you're gonna have to pay buttloads more!!! Bottom line, you WILL love these, you may or may not need a sub to complete the bottom end, & once you DO get the sub, welcome to LaLa-Land baby!

Pros: Crisp, clean, & punchy mids thru highs. Flat tweeter profile accommodates most

Cons: Not really any with the speaker itself. I had to fabricate a harness out of sheet metal to fit my factory bracket.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are quite good for the price. They have accurate highs and lows and even though it is not a component system, the crossover doesn't seem to be too bad. That being said, you will need an amplifier in order to truly hear and feel what these speakers can do. For general listening purposes, hooking these up to a stock radio is a good choice, but their are cheaper options than these speakers. Their value truly lies in how much you can push them and their potential for upgrade ability. I am currently only powering these speakers with a Kenwood receiver that gives each speaker 22 watts RMS, so it begins to approach the optimal power of the speakers, but it really needs more for the mid-bass notes. These speakers look good, sound good, and have tons of room for a power upgrade.

Pros: Clean sound Allows for powering up your system Looks good Good price

Cons: A somewhat low sensitivity Not as efficient as other speakers around the same price Needs an amplifier to truly wake up the system (this is only because I love bass and is not a direct fault of the speakers)

On the recommendation of a crutchfield adviser, I replaced all of the door speakers with these kicker 40CS674. I kept the factory stereo and have no amp on these and they sound beautiful! The improvement over stock is well worth the price of these kickers. The bass for my system is handled by 2 - JL Audio 10W0v3-4 Subs n a Sound Ordnance Bass Bunker Sealed dual 10" subwoofer enclosure powered by the Rockford Fosgate R500X1D Prime Series mono subwoofer amplifier. For a system that keeps the factory stereo, I think it sounds amazing.

1998 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When looking for speakers, pay attention to the Frequency Response range listed in the SPECIFICATIONS tab. This one goes all the way down to 45 Hertz. The lower the low end of the range is, the more bass. Don't expect massive bass with these of course, they're not subs. Paired with my Alpine HU and the Alpine Power Pack, it works really well for my taste. (And it really is a matter of taste with sound right. Mine does not involve rattling license plates or dimming headlights that then require a capacitor between your battery and the amps and the...ahh, reminiscing my high school years.)

Pros: Good fidelity for the price. Compared to the Alpine SPR-60's (which I had in my truck first), I preferred these Kickers more again due to the lower end frequency range.

Cons: Be aware that if you specifically have a 1998 4Runner, the screw holes on these speakers won't align with the screw holes on the factory speaker assembly where this attaches to. This is also the case with the SPR-60's so it's not a speaker issue but more the age of the vehicle. They can't accomodate all the radius measurements across all years of vehicles so it's a matter of demand and supply. No prob tho, I used screws with a wide head to hold them firm.

What an amazing difference between these and the factory speakers.I purchased mine locally though because I wanted them right away and I paid a lower price with no shipping cost.

Pros: Easy install and good sound for the price.

Got 2 sets to replace all the speakers in my chevy colorado. As far as the speakers go, sound quality is very good. only downside to these was the mounting screws that come with it. they are just cheap crap. after 1 speaker went in the second i had trouble with the screws threads just smashing while trying to screw in. I just went to the hardware store and bought some 1" #8 self tapping sheet metal screws. had to go back to the first speaker 2 weeks after install and swap out the original screws for the better ones i bought as it began to loosen and rattle.

Pros: sound quality is great

Cons: mounting hardware is cheap, go by better screws for a few bucks

Facts and what you need to know.

Charlie from New York on 1/2/2015

Ok So everyone hearts different things with speakers what you hear maybe someone else hears something different. So I going to go with only facts and explaine them for you to help you truly know and understand these. So I bought a bunch of speakers and compared them all and bottom line no other speaker produced the bass these did not even my monster Jbl p660c components amped and not amped these blew all other away with bass. Now instead of just saying these are great and loud I'll get into detail about them, First off a fact no matter what you listen to and weather your doors are deadened(highly recommend) or not you will get bass out of these. That's their biggest plus that's what stands out the most. Next is their tweeter. It's loud crisp sharp and pretty accurate. Also because kicker made these for stock replacements the tweeter is lower inside the speaker which actually helps imaging because the tweeter high actually get spread and pushed by the cone if you will and makes for a fuller louder sound. Next fact is the ease of install I mean so easy these will most likely fit into 5 1/4 openings that's how shallow and thin they are. (Do not let their size fool you the look puny but sound full and loud) one of my favorite this is the basket it has so many different shapes and opening for screws to accommodate any car. That's whatt kicker did great with these is make them insanely easy to install for any car. These only have one flaw, no crossovers distort at high volumes.

Pros: BASS Crisp tight high end LOUD( put polk db6501 to shame) Insanely easy to install easier than any other speaker

Cons: Distortion at high volume no crossovers to clean sound only drawback.

The speakers sound great and fairly easy to install. Installed the speakers (X 4) in a 2007 Chevy Silverado crew cab, replacing the factory system.

Pros: They were delivered in a couple of days even before I received the tracking information, this was during the Christmas rush.

Cons: The mounting clips didn't have any instructions, one of them even broke very easily so we used self-taping screws for the front door speakers but we were able to use the factory screws and mounting holes for the rear door speakers. The rear door speakers were .0825" too big (diameter) so we had to use a die grinder to remove a little material from the factory mounting housing and the they slid right in.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my Dad to replace blown factory units. I just got a call from him about him installing them. He is not mechanically inclined but wanted to try it. He said it went without a hitch and the included wiring adapters did the trick. He said he's just as happy as could be with the sound. He says it's much better than when his truck was new. (2003 GMC Sierra ext. cab) (Had to drill new fastener holes for these ever so slightly over sized speakers) He said he wished he would have done this long ago. As for my end I'll say that the price was more that competitive when comparing quality products and the free included model specific instructions and installation aids sealed the deal for me. Product arrived quickly, as described, and in perfect condition. I'll be ordering again from Crutchfield for sure.

Pros: Fast shipping. Good Packaging. Competitive Pricing. Included installation Materials. Vehicle Specific Directions.

Cons: Really only 1 very minor issue. Needing to drill new fastener holes for the speaker to mount properly. This is easily done, but it is an added step.

Criteeker from California on 12/16/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers for the front doors of my GMC Envoy. I also purchased the baffles. The baffles should be opened to allow some breathing when moving air and the wires to pass through. Since my doors had some water inside them (for some strange reason) I suggest using a plastic bag over the connection with Zip-Ties on each end. The sound is decent for a 2-way speaker so if you're not going to use an amp and sub, don;t expect amazing sound, just better sound than most factory garbage. With the baffles, you might not want to use spacers, but you might have to use a Dremel to cut away the factory housing to allow the speaker to fit.

Pros: decent sound, decent thump

Cons: items stored in my door panels become rattles

After viewing several speakers from different manufacturers, at the suggestion of a Crutchfield advisor, I replaced the two damaged stock Monsoon sail panel speakers in my 2001 Trans Am with these Kickers. The fit was close to exact, wiring simple and the sound is clean. They don't give (often annoying) boomy bass, but do deliver the clean bass I want to hear. and appreciate. Great suggestion, Crutchfield!

Pros: Easy, quick installation with no modifications other than simple bypass of the harness connectors necessary. I soldered the factory wires to the supplied connectors and used the original speakers' screws and nuts. It was an easy half-hour job. The price was right for what I wanted.

2006 Pontiac Vibe
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered 4 of these speakers to replace the stock units in a 2006 Pontiac Vibe. The front speakers went in without a hitch, however, the rear speakers required a bit more work. The speakers themselves fit the old opening just fine but the supplied adapter ring/bracket that they mounted in was another story. I ended up having to actually trim some of the adapter ring itself to fit the door panel and had to drill two (2) holes in the panel to mount the bracket on each of the rear doors. This wouldn't have been a huge deal except there was no indication at all when buying these that they would be anything but a good fit. Mounting issues aside these speakers are a GREAT sounding upgrade to stock and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them just make sure you do as much research as possible to find out if there will be mounting issues.

Pros: Fantastic upgrade over stock.

Cons: Mounting issues need to be explained or pointed out before purchase. It's not a pleasant surprise to find out you have to drill into a car when you weren't expecting it.

Pros: -Awesome design -Looks great -Sounds as good as they look -Install was a breeze!

Cons: None whatsoever. The only thing I can think of anyone complaining about is some may need to drill new holes. Seriously though, it's an extra minute or 2 of your time and it's really not a big deal at all. Buy these if you're thinking about it.

Installed these in my 2000 Altima SE last weekend, replacing stock speakers. The difference in sound quality is HUGE. Highs and mid-range are clear and crisp. Bass is adequate but not great. I have to agree with some other reviewers' comments that if you want deep, resounding bass you'll need to add a sub-woofer to this speaker set. Having said that, this was an easy install and a very worthwhile upgrade. Good "bang for the buck". Crutchfield MasterSheet instructions were clear and accurate.

2011 Scion xB
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a tough review to post. I'd read on forums and such very diverse opinions on speakers and audio head units, which makes the bigger difference. I can clearly say the head unit being replaced in my 2011 Scion xB was the biggest improvement. It brought the audio system to life. But, I had already bought these Kickers for all 4 doors, so, I wanted to complete this leg of the journey to see the further improvement. So, the install was fairly easy, thanks to Crutchfield (again). Cranked up, they do offer obvious clarity and quality over the stock speakers, especially the rears. I do have to say, still, that they seem to be fairly easy to push too hard with bass. Being a bass player and drummer, and music producer, I like DEEP bass I can hear AND feel, and crystal clear highs. These speakers have a good range, but I still seem to think I need to add the subwoofer. Can pound these with bass, as I'd hoped I possibly could. Solid B to B+ grade for this price range.

Pros: Great, clear sound that's punchy and can be warm.

Cons: Easy to push too hard with bass, for my taste. Might still want a sub, if you like tons of bass, bordering on overkill without ruining overall mix.

I needed a pair of speakers for my Camaro Convertible and the local catch wasn't good enough. I needed BASS for the front doors. I researched Crutchfield and lots of reviews mentioned the lower end frequencies of these speakers. I am not disappointed. To make it better I got them on the "scratch and dent" sell. I was worried they would come to me trashed but were in awesome condition! For those of you looking for details, the car is a 95 camaro z28 convertible with a 200w aftermarket headunit and no amps or subs. Absolutely no fitment issues. fit perfectly. Not only did they have good base but they had surprisingly good treble as well. My real speakers were ok with bass but great with treble. So I thought until I got these. Now they don't stand up.

The speakers are adequately packaged against damage and everything you need for the installation is included (hardware, wiring leads, crimps). The installation is pretty easy and straightforward. I would warn anyone installing these speakers in a Chevy Traverse that the wiring harness color codes change from speaker position to position throughout the vehicle. Rule of thumb - the darker of the two leads at the installation position is the match for the grey/black speaker lead included with the speakers.

Pros: Good quality sound from the speakers.

Cons: The MasterSheet from Crutchfield is very good except for the information pertaining to the rear door speakers. The information and photograph for the Bose equipped vehicle is incorrect. You will need the Scoche adapter bracket for the rear doors.

these speakers are great, but everyone was saying they had awesome bass...I don't hear the awesome bass they are all talking about.thats the only reason it is getting a four star is because everyone was claiming awesome bass when it doesn't have it... but don't let that steer you away they are an awesome set of speakers, especially when paired with a good set of subs(alpine swa 12s4) they sound amazing. definitely would buy again

Pros: sound quality is great

Cons: not as much bass as everyone was claiming, but not too big of a deal when you buy a set of subwoofers

Lacks Lower Frequency Response

2005 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was pretty excited to get these installed into my 2005 4runner (SR5, non JBL, non Nav). Upon installing the first 6.75 into the driver's door, I did a heads-up comparison to the stock Toyota 6x9 in the passenger door. Now just to baseline what I was using - Head Unit: Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD (14w RMS continuous). And, the surface area on the driver of a 6x9 (factory) is certainly larger than a 6.75" (Kicker). While the Kicker did deliver perfectly smooth highs and mid-high ranges that were exactly what I was looking for, the stock Toyota Speaker out-performed the 6.75 in mid-range to mid-low, delivering a much more rich and dynamic fullness that the Kicker couldn't measure up to, even after maxing out the EQ, bass boost etc.. - they definitely started bumping but I feel like they are basically too small to hit those ranges that the 6x9 could hit. Basically, these speakers didn't even respond to some of the lower frequencies that the stock 6x9 were picking up. Also, these speakers have slightly more resistance than the stock speakers, and took 10-20% higher volumes on the head unit to get similar output to the stock 6x9. I wish that the Kicker 6x9 fit the 4runner, as I'm sure that would have been the upgrade I was looking for. The choices are limited, but I'm going to try an aftermarket 6x9 instead and see how that does, I believe Pioneer and Sony make a few that fit. I listen to metal, rock, alt, BPM.

Pros: Smooth Highs & Mid-Highs

Cons: Lacks response in the lower frequencies, best supplemented with other (larger) speakers to do the mid-low work. These shouldn't be the work-horse of the system.

Very Nice Speakers

2006 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got the 6.75" and 5.25" speakers for the front and rear doors, respectively, of my 2006 Toyota 4Runner. The fronts were previously aftermarket Pioneers 6.5"s that I put in maybe 6 months ago, the rears were previously stock. I wasn't all that thrilled by the Pioneers I had put in around Christmas time, so ordered the Kickers at the urging of a co-worker. I can say that I'm extremely pleased with the upgrade; these Kickers have an all-around better sound than the Pioneers. Low-end is adequate, and they sound powerful and clear when driven moderately hard by my aftermarket Sony HU 22W/channel RMS, I believe). I can only imagine how good they'd sound with a nice 4-channel amp installed. Unfortunately, I've blown my car audio upgrade for now between these speakers and 12" Fosgate powered sub. Maybe for Christmas? End of the day, I would definitely recommend these speakers as an above-average factory upgrade.

Pros: - Good sound, even when driven moderately by a mid-power HU. - Construction feels good; noticeably more weighty than the aftermarket Pioneers they replaced. - Decent amount of bass for a 6.75" (as long as you get them sealed in your door nice and snug).

Cons: - I should mention that, due to the geometry of the speaker frame, I had to modify the supplied adapter bracket with a sawz-all to get the speaker frame to fit in there. Not a deal killer for me, but if I hadn't had a tool to do the job I would have been pretty annoyed. This added maybe 5 minutes to the process.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2003 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab; 6-speaker with OnStar. Looking for inexpensive/ease of fit upgrade to replace completely shot factory speakers (kept factory head unit). Recommended by Crutchfield advisor. Arrived on doorstep 2 days later!=) ~30 min/pair to install using factory adapters (very snug, but good fit) & Crutchfield plug-n-play harness. Certainly not home theater sound, but for someone who's always got the windows down, they rock! Bass is a tad hollow and drops off a bit at higher volumes. Left the separate factory tweeters hooked up for now, but may unhook after a while to see the difference, but overall very happy with the sound quality for the price!

Pros: Sound quality for the price. Ease of install (had to bend upper and lower tabs of front door sheet metal about 1/8" with flat blade screwdriver, otherwise would have had to mount differently/drill holes).

Cons: Not a super high sound quality, but better than others in this price range.

Alot better than the stock Infinity Gold Speakers but coming from Kicker i am a little dissapointed in the bass quality. Could be the size but the bass isnt very crisp and more of a loud buzz. However coupled with the 6x9's and new dash tweeters they do sound good as long as you play with your settings, just cant max out your bass.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the sound and quality of these low priced speakers. They are a noticeable improvement over my factory 2-way speakers. The clarity is much better, the overall sound is better, from low, to high volumes and everything in between. The bass is not as good as I expected from reading the reviews, but they do alright in that department. The tweeters are good, not too harsh. Mids are good. Overall, I'm quite pleased. I really want to add an amp, I'm certain more power will really bring these things to life.

Pros: Great speaker for a low price. Good looking too. For dollar spent, you can't go wrong.

Cons: The speaker terminals are a bit tricky to get connected, had to tweak them slightly with a pliers. Not much of a complaint!
