Built tough

Kicker's 40CS6934 speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6"x9" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter and 2" polypropylene midrange take care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. These speakers sound great powered by a factory radio or an aftermarket car stereo, and they'll really rock when connected to an external amplifier. Grilles are included.

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1/2" PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced-dome tweeter; PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

2" Dome Midrange: The 2" dome midranges provide a strong response in the critical midrange band where the majority of the vocals are located.

I tried installing these in a 2008 Nissan Altima but it seems the holes did not line up with the holes in the speakers. Are these speakers an exact fit or do I need to make modifications?

Q
why do these speakers sound worse then my old stock ones?
anthony  Aug 12, 2015

A
If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. There can be several reasons for this. Sometimes it is an issue of under-powering the new speakers, but I doubt this is the case here. More likely it is a case of the speakers needing to break in, or possibly needing a better seal. Our Tech's will be able to help diagnose. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. Q
why it doesn't fit 1999 civic hatchback since it is 6x9 ?
johhny  Dec 16, 2013
1 answer
A
The issue appears to be the height of the speakers. I'd recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss further if there are modifications you can perform to make these work. If not, then they can also help you pick out speakers that will fit.

This will depend on your vehicle. Please reach out to an Advisor by phone or chat to discuss how these would mount into your vehicle, and any additional accessories you may need.

Q
Does it have a powerful bass?
wesley  Dec 04, 2013

A
I wasn't happy with the bass. As a matter of fact, I really don't think these are good rear speakers (which is what they were advertised as). I'm thinking of replacing them with better ones.
kimberly  Dec 28, 2013

It surprisingly has a nice bass! I think it's quite powerful. At times, I often mistaken it for my subwoofer's bass. Hope this helps
ashleigh e  Dec 05, 2013
A
It has impressive bass for a 6x9 speaker, but if you want real powerful bass, you need a powered subwoofer. For 6x9, these have good bass, though.
jesse  Dec 05, 2013
A
It puts out a good amount of bass.
jerome  Dec 04, 2013

It is not a powered speaker, and my point of comparison is the original, factory speakers, which were 20 years old, but they have a nice, rounded sound with the Kicker front speakers & they had the best overall specs of the speakers available from Crutchfield at the time (full 20 - 20 kHz range, RMS & peak power-handling). I Ann using the Kickers with a JVC stereo & no additional amplifier at the moment. Also, I installed a powered Infinity subwoofer in the trunk not long afterward, which obviously provides much more punch than a set of passive speakers could. Overall, I'm very happy with these speakers - the only reason I went with the Infinity (10") sub over a Kicker (8") sub is the Infinity had much better specs & Crutchfield was offering $$$ off at the time, which put them in the same price point.

I would say it has a very solid bass response. My son has played some music with heavy bass and they definitely kick. No subwoofer thump, but they can rattle my rear view mirror enough that I see it move.Still loving the speakers!
daniel j  Dec 04, 2013
A
I am not an expert on audio by any means, but I believe that for the price, the bass response and power is very good.
lisa j  Dec 04, 2013

There full range with solid bass...
bertram  Dec 04, 2013
A
Yes. I am extremely pleased with the way these speakers sound. The bass is not overwhelming, and does not drown out the music. 6×9 is a massive speaker to begin with, so you better believe you get some nice sound. I got them on sale, but would buy them again at full price if they went out for any reason. Just make sure you have an amp that can supply enough power or else you'll be missing out on the full capability of these babies.
derek j  Dec 04, 2013
A
Yes, deep and powerful, I have them on my rear deck and even when I have my sub off it still feels like it is on just a few notches down
