It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Built tough

Kicker's 40CS6934 speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6"x9" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. Product Highlights:

  • 3-way 6"x9" speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer cone with polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter and 2" polypropylene dome midrange

These speakers are awesome on my car and are pretty loud and clear. I had to tune the bass out of it on my amp to make it sound very clear but if you do not have an amp connected to it, it still packs a punch. It was a low price for very good speakers. I installed them on my Cobalt SS/SC and it's very loud and clear.

Great speakers, noisy factory amp

Anonymous from Tacoma, WA on 11/23/2016

2004 Honda Accord EX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers! BUT, I ended up returning them due to amplifier issues in my 2004 Accord. Honda's factory amp has an extremely high noise floor, which is made apparent when more efficient speakers are installed (and the Kicker 40CS6934 are VERY efficient). After installation, there was noticeable and constant hiss coming from my rear 6X9's. The hiss remains regardless of audio source selected, and does not increase or decrease when volume or EQ is adjusted. I emailed back and forth with the Crutchfield techs and was directed to an alternate component system by Kicker (one that is not a coaxial design, i.e. a single driver). Hopefully it'll resolve this problem!

Great sound, the bass that's there is much clearer than the stock system in my Taurus SHO. A cheap upgrade. However, not exactly a drop in replacement. The mounting holes are slightly off so some modification is nessecary to get them bolted in.

Pros: Clear sound

Cons: Not quite a direct drop in replacement in my car at least

Add a bigger "Kick" to your car audio

Terry from Columbia, SC on 11/16/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These replaced Boston Acoustics in my 2011 Dodge Challenger. Using the purchase for my car option, I knew it would be a sure fit. Did not want to change factory head unit which is the old Media Center 103 RES/REC. The sound quality is really good. I did utilize the wire set that came free, installation was a breeze. Now, it may have been a little more difficult had I not had the free car guide that showed how to remove doors. Over all, very nice and quick upgrade to front speaker replacement. Will be adding pioneer power pack soon, so keep an eye out for that review as well :)

Pros: Ease of installation, Crutchfield makes it easy to know if it will fit your ride. Very good sound quality as an upgrade to premium Boston Acoustics speakers.

Cons: None whatsoever

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these as a scratch and dent set to save a few bucks since they will be covered by my door panels. The fit well but I did have to drill two holes in the mounting piece attached to the vehicle so they would bolt in with all 4 screws. Not a big issue since its plastic but they are not a direct bolt in for my trucks rear doors as advertised.

Pros: Nice quality, include all the hardware and grills needed for install.

Cons: They are a little lacking for output from my stock radio until I have the volume up to at least half then they seem to "come alive" if you will.

Pros: Great sound all around compared to the factory speakers, I used the same in my 2014 Ram as well. There is great bass, mids and highs. Definitely recommend for a low cost upgrade.

Cons: For what I paid there are no cons, it is 100x better than the factory speakers. T think if a powered sub was added it would make all of the difference but seein that I lease I wont do that.

Well worth it. I actually happy to say it was well worth getting Kicker speakers because they live up to their reputation. The installation was easy for my 2000 Honda Accord EX.

Pros: Great sound quality. More than enough amount of base.

Cons: The speakers were slightly to big for the factory holes so had to position it at an angle to put two screws in and when there is to much bas it causes minor rattling.

2008 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So I goofed and bought 4 Rockford Fosgate Punch P16-S 6-1/2" Component Speakers to replace the 4 speakers in my truck. I never realized the fronts were 6x9's, so I lost bass when I added my speakers and my new Pioneer AVH-4100NEX. So I bought these Kicker 6x9's to replace the front speakers. These speakers brought back the bass I was missing and brought back a fuller sound to my system. But I've found the bass tends to get distorted when I want to crank my music from time to time. Outside of that, the speakers are great.

Pros: Great sounding speakers and they fit perfectly in the front doors of my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500.

Cons: Bass performance.

This is a well built speaker with a lot of bass, clear miss and crisp highs. I like the metal, mounting bracket, but it didn't exactly fit my 2015 ram 1500 as only two holes actually lined up. But I replaced my db651s with these and these sound better to me!

I was hoping for a little more clarity, however I'm using these speakers just off the after market stereo. Take a look at other reviews for information regarding systems that have amps.

Pros: Fit well into the front door of my 06' Titan.

Cons: Not the clarity and sound I was hoping for, however this is just running off my aftermarket stereo with no Amp.

Very nice speakers for my 2008 Buick Lucerne

Joseph from granger, IN on 2/6/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a Kenwood DDX471HD heatset , 2 40CS6934 Kickers in the back deck, 2 40CSS654 kickers in the front doors with the seperate tweeters in the windshield pillars. The installation was not hard at all. There was an adaptor bracket for the front doors to fit the speakers inside.

Pros: The speakers do very well for high end and midrange sounds. I have been driving with this setup for around a year now and they perform very well. I would recommend them for anyone looking to get good sound out of their stock or replacement head unit setup. Very nice highs and the midrange is acceptable considering there is no amp in my car or subwoofer (yet).

Cons: I have no cons really about the speakers. They are a bit weak on the bass but thats just the nature of the beast. Anyone installing these or actually any of the others will eventually want a subwoofer in their car. However I would not count this against the speakers. I think a lot of novice buyers think they are going to get much more punch in the low end when installing speakers but that is only partcially true. You do get some and you will notice it.

I added these to the front doors on my 2015 Ram 2500. I had to fab a spacer but they fit. I previously upgraded the head unit to a Jensen multimedia player. These speakers really cleaned up the sound over the stock speaker. They added a bit more bass but a lot more clarity over the stock muddy sound. I am sure they would be even better with an amp but that is not the direction I was heading. I am real happy with these for the price.

Pretty Impressive Replacements

Marco O from Indiana on 1/3/2016

2000 Buick Regal
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these installed in a 2000 Buick Regal with the same line 5 1/4s in the front. They're currently being driven straight from the stock headunit, and with that considered these are very impressive. There is significant bass on these like many have mentioned, but definitely not subwoofer quality or accurate. The mids also come in pretty clean with highs being good but rather bright at times. It's somewhat difficult for me to review these considering they're currently being driven from the stock headunit and thus not being used at nearly their full potential. Also, the brightness and good but not super accurate bass is probably more because of the head unit than the speakers themselves. But that being said, before the stock speakers were the worst speakers I had ever heard; now I actually go in the Regal to just sit and listen to music as they're now one of the best speakers I've ever heard in a car. It honestly surprises me what these can derive from a 16 year old stock head unit. So all in all, these are very good replacements; you won't be sorry. However, don't expect these to BLOW YOUR MIND if you don't replace anything else. If you want that to happen, replace the headunit and connect these to a good amp and I'm sure you'll be astonished.

Pros: Very good option for drop-in replacements, they will blow your stock speakers out of the water.

Cons: This isn't Kicker's fault but rather Crutchfield's. While it was helpful having the Mastersheet, it wasn't completely accurate. 1. In order to remove the rear seat in my car, I had to remove 2 10mm nuts below the back rest and 2 behind them when they're folded. Crutchfield said to remove the 15mm nuts attaching the seatbelts, which was unnecessary. 2. To actually unscrew the rear stock speakers, I had to use a star screw driver cut in half since it was too tall to use in the rear deck. Not sa

Bought these several months ago and loved them! Ran them off my head unit at about 17 rms. Very little bass but the clarity was awesome. I just installed a amp supplying these with 120 watts rms and am a little disappointed I now have less clarity but a lot of bass! I don't need anymore bass cause I have a sub. I will continue to do some fine tuning but right now I have mixed feeling.

Pros: Good quality speakers that seem to be able to take a beating

2012 Dodge Challenger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these because of their efficiency. I wanted to do a simple system that could run the mids and highs off the deck alone. The db sensitivity and product description pointed towards these being the best fit for my simple system plan. I've been installing since the 90's and have done it all. IMO these have great bass response; especially considering the lack of amplifier. Typically I see a decrease in bass response when throwing a set of coaxial speakers in the door. The bass was impressive even with the low power fed to them. I will add that the highs are very tinny. I have the deck set to neg on the treble settings. Maybe they will sound more balanced with an amp/proper power?

Pros: Great bass response even with low power

Cons: Tinny highs Was not a perfect fit on the Challenger. Had to Very carefully get three of the factory screws to work in the factory speaker bracket. The fourth screw required drilling a new hole all together. Not sure if another 6x9 would have been an exact fit or if dodge uses a speaker that is slightly off?

Not very happy with these speakers. I replaced my stock speakers with these. I'm still using my stock radio (8.4" dodge ram system) The highs are tingy and the mids and lows don't exist. I ended up putting my factory speakers back in and it sounds much better. My next step is to install an amp to all my door and dash speakers. This is when Im hoping the Kicker speakers do much better.

Pros:

Cons:

Crutchfield response on 10/19/2015 That's a common reaction when replacing car speakers. In the case of these Kicker speakers, they're going to need more power than your factory speakers needed in order to sound their best. They likely won't sound good at all on a factory stereo. You'll either need to add an aftermarket stereo or an amplifier (a small, 4-channel amp can supply twice the power of an aftermarket stereo and three or four times the power of the typical factory radio) or return these and get speakers with a higher sensitivity. Either way, we'll be glad to help - just give us a call.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased 4 of these Kickers (two in door, two 6x9's in back deck) to replace factory speakers in a 1998 Lumina. Needless to say it is a huge improvement, especially at the higher volume levels. I am not a real picky audiophile, but I did want a substantial upgrade over stock and these Kickers deliver that for me. Most importantly, the instructions and wiring harnesses that were included made the job fairly painless. Removing rear seats and door panels can be a huge mess if you don't know where every bolt, screw, and clip are situated, so (at least for me) the instructions alone made it worth the effort to buy from Crutchfield.

Pros: Clear sound, good value, easy installation.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered these speakers to replace the OEM speakers in the front doors of my Nissan Titan. The sound was much clearer, but you basically only got highs with no mid bass at all. So I decided to change out the head unit, add a 5 channel amp & a 10in sub under the back seat. After all of that I am extremely happy with these speakers. If you're buying them to use with an amp you can't beat them for the money! Great Purchase!

Pros: Great Value. Easy Installation. Mids, highs & mid bass in one package. Handles 125 watts per channel easily with no distortion.

Cons: Needs an aftermarket amplifier to produce a full sound.

Great speakers for the money. Of course i Didn't A-B this with several other modern 6 x 9s but I have no complaints about the units. Crisp clear and with a nice thump. Currently just powering them from a new Kenwood head but I can tell these things want more power and are almost ... idling until you reach breakup point at max volume. I am already looking at small amps and probably going to throw a cheap sound ordnance unit on them to really make them sing. With 100 watts pushing them I'm betting they will sound amazing and practically blow you out of the car.

These were a great replacement for my factory speakers that were original to my 1992 Firebird. At extremely loud volumes they can distort but with a source with nice bass, you hear great bass from these speakers. I really can't say much about the highs and mids because I have the matching 4X6's in my dash and they produce excellent highs so they seem to be a great combination. I used the original screws that I removed when I removed my old speakers to install the new speakers. They are a great value for a mid range speaker. Kicker makes a lesser quality speaker as well as a better quality speaker so this seems to be a great value for your money.

Pros: Perfect fit, nice bass response, loud sound without an external amplifier

Cons: Can distort at extremely loud volume

These speakers did help my mid-range sound quite a bit, which is what I was going for and why it got two stars compared to one. I used to love kicker and Crutchfield products but now this has me second guessing. They were connected to a aftermarket head unit not nearly close to the nominal power of these speakers and tonight I found one blown. They only lasted 5 months, I thought for sure I would get at least a few years out of them, but 5 months seems a little short. These aren't the cheap ones either, but I guess if you are looking at these spend the extra 30$ for higher quality speakers.

bought these almost a year ago and loved them because i can have room to grow.) didnt really do the homework. and never instilled them due to (sold the vehicle that it was ment for) but i am glad i did. they sound amazing, had a slight rattle but thats due to the door (my audio guy fixed it, was a piece of hard plastic in the speaker hole.) didnt do anything else on my 2011 ram 1500 crew cab. without the nav, and alpine setup. will buy these again. for the rear doors reason for the 4 stars is its not really a direct fit nothing major just had a bracket behind the speaker the magnet is a little bigger then factory. was a little off but my audio guy made it work without much effort. and it looks like factory instill.

Pros: sounds great for the money. doesnt sound garbage like the factory. very clear, and has room to go 150watts rms..

Cons: not a prefect fit due to a bracket behind the speaker. (the magnet is really big vs the factory) but close enough to call it good (maybe a quarter inch of gap or less.) and speaker looks normal thanks to my audio guy .. and my door panel goes on like normal.

Prior to buying these speakers, i was considering adding a small powered sub to the area behind my bench seat. After installing these in some small Sound Ordinance truck enclosures, I can add my name to the list of people who no longer feel like a sub is needed. Obviously, your mileage may vary depending on your vehicle, enclosures, etc, but even running without an amplifier, these speakers were loud, clear, and punchy. For the price, these speakers are a steal.

Pros: + Really awesome low end hit while not being muddy sounding + 6x9 enclosures are readily available so you can add these to vehicles that wouldn't ordinarily support them

I must say I am quite happy with this purchase. I did quite a bit of research before I bought these speakers, online and in my local automotive audio dealers. The sound quality is wonderful for the price that you get these speakers at. And the best part is that Crutchfield throws in the wiring harness at no extra charge, and free shipping. The only problem I had was I mounted the driver side door speaker upside down. In doing this the wiring harness got caught up in my powered window and ripped the positive (+), negative (-), board on the speaker. I called Crutchfield and they sent me a new set to replace the broken one with free return shipping. I will always buy all my future audio components from Crutchfield. Hands down has the best customer service. With the speaker replaced everything is great.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The base 4 speaker system in my '06 Ram 1500 left a bit to be desired, specifically when it came to speaker clarity. The bass was "loose" and too boomy, midtones were muddy, and treble almost non-existent. These speakers fixed all of these problems - bass is now tight and clean, midtones are no longer muddy, and the treble is sharp and clear. You'll notice that you won't have to crank up the volume as much with these speakers, as they seem to be more efficient than the stock units. Great for those of us on a budget and wanting to do incremental upgrades. I am currently using the factory "REF" stereo - it drives these speakers just fine. Be sure to use the spacers from the factory speakers, so that these speakers will clear the window when it's rolled down. I'm looking at replacing the rear speakers next, as it is very apparent how crummy those speakers are now. The closest thing to a "con": speaker clarity is so vastly improved that you'll notice when you're playing poor quality mp3s, or listening to the radio when the reception is less than optimal, even with the factory head unit. Some people may find these speakers are less responsive for bass than the factory speakers. You'll lose the "boominess" of the factory speakers, but will be rewarded with clear, accurate, and tight bass. I'm surprised at the bass notes I'm hearing in my music now. These notes used to get completely lost or muffled with the boomy factory speakers. I highly recommend these speakers!

Pros: Quick and easy drop-in speaker upgrade. Excellent speaker warmth and clarity. Well-suited for the base factory "REF" stereo's power. Tight bass, sharp treble, clean mid tones. More efficient use of power compared with the factory speakers.

Cons: You'll want to replace the rear factory speakers after hearing the improvement these make up in the front.

I also bought the 6.5 matching CS-65 series speakers. My initial review of the 6x9's they sounded under powered, On a Sony GT565UP. Which lead me to purchase a A/B class amp - Kenwood 6406. The speakers under no amount of tuning are proportional or consistent under load. Lower frequencies sound horrible. They do not provide the amount of bass or quality I was expecting. I wouldn't even say its a modest amount. The factory paper speakers sounded 95% of what these do... I also later purchase a MINT JL 12w1v2 and a new box. Kicker has not eliminated the need for a subwoofer and concluded reviews look fabricated. I rewired the rest (entire) system in 14 Gauge wire and crimped terminal connectors... The recommendation as a factory replacement is far fetched and false advertisement. "Your 17 watt deck isn't pushing 150 watt RMS speakers, Sorry". - So the car experts recant that sold me the speakers... Honestly in my opinion and having spent 600+ chasing an admirable system. Steer clear of kicker! Ide recommend blaukpaunt 20$ 6x9 that are rated closer to the RMS of Stock units and even with the price difference 110% what these CS are.

Pros: You can sell them for 50$ and for 50$ buy better speakers. I still have some sparkle audio 6x9 from 1986 that hit harder sound better - so I can shelf or sell these kickers to another sucker. Tweeters are good you forget there is no mid and the lows are horrible

Cons: Over Priced Frequency response - Horrible bass @ Stock and RMS 150 Watts No audible improvement over lower end factory replacements that sound 50% better for 50% less. NOT a high performance factory replacement in general - false advertisement. Shallow bass, replication of deep bass is horrible. These speakers sound incredible at high and low volume. They are relatively inexpensive. I am not even driving them from an amp and they sound great and can handle quite a bit of bass even at high volume. The only problem I had, was the mounting holes were a little off from my OEM mounts, but it wasn't too bad mounting them. All in all I am very impressed with the quality of sound.

Pros: Awesome full range sound. Great bass handling, even at high volume.

Cons: Didn't quite mount up out of the box, had to make modifications.

Got for 2011 Dodge 1500 Ram. Was not supposed to fit in front doors, but was easily able to get them installed in front doors. Needed to use 4 small washers at 4 secure point between speaker and vehicle. It worked great. Incredible upgrade over vehicle speakers. Magnet is 2-3 times heavier. Bass is great Very good sound separation vs the blah out of previous speakers. Playing with factory deck. Works good. Will be getting another pair of 6x9's for back door....plus 3.5" speakers for dash after my experience with these speakers. Would buy again.

Pros: Sound great.

Huge Improvement - 2005 Honda Accord

tkdking from Seattle, WA on 10/22/2014

2005 Honda Accord EX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I spent several days researching speakers prior to purchasing these Kicker's. Crutchfield's advisers were very helpful and taught me a few new things about how to seect the appropriate speaker. I put a pair of these into the rear of my 2005 Honda Accord coupe. I chose them because they have a high sensitivity rating which was important since my stock deck isn't very powerful. They're also rated to have high highs and low lows, and have good reviews. Thanks to other reviews, I knew that MY install would be slightly difficult. Although Crutchfield suggests these "will fit" my car, they don't mention anything about modifications needed. After dropping them in, I had to drill 2 new holes in each in order to bolt them down. I laid "caulk cord/rope caulk" down around the perimeter for a snug and vibration-free seal. Once they were bolted down I was in business, but then the grills didn't fit. I had to purchase a multifunction power tool to cut away a bunch of plastic from the inside of the grill - then they fit into place. The improvement in sound quality from these speakers is night and day! They're crisp, loud and have excellent highs and lows - a massive improvement in my car. I've been contemplating installing a sub but with these Kickers I think it would be over-kill! My only gripe is that the install was difficult despite CF saying they fit. I would've rather reinvested the power tool money into EVEN better speakers that fit with ease (if any exist).

Pros: Excellent sound reproduction High sensitivity, great for use with stock decks Better bass then I expected

Cons: Mounting holes didn't line up Taller speaker lead to stock-grill fitment problems

I bought these as a set of Kickers for my new mini cooper. I had polks DXI in my old car. I bought yellow CS 6x9's, 51/4"s and tweeter's. They seem to sound great and maybe a little better without any break in time yet. I have them with an Alpine head and power pack and JL mono amp and kicker 12 ported sub. I bought these to save money for now , and buy the expensive ones down the road. The kickers seem to sound very nice ! I'll break them in and play with setting them to my ears and the car for now. I may not need the expensive ones? The punch is good and clean sound from all the kickers. Ask me in a year....

Pros: quality seems nice and they fit as was told with all the goodies for the install.

Cons: none, good start if they last.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These 6x9 speakers replaced the stock rear deck speakers in my 2005 Accord EXL V6 non-nav. They were not a drop-in replacement as the 4 mounting holes did not line up perfectly with the holes in the rear deck. However, I knew this prior to purchase based on other reviews. Also, I had to modify the original speaker grills to make them fit because the kickers are taller than the stock speakers. No starts removed for these fit problems because I knew about them before the purchase. The sound was an immediate improvement from the stock speakers. Bass goes lower, is more controlled, and hits harder. A definite improvement over stock. I still have the stock front speakers and tweeters connected but I will be replacing the front door speakers with Kicker 6.5" coaxials (also purchased from Crutchfield but not yet installed). I did have to use some foam pipe insulation that I had laying around to stop some new rattles in the trunk after installation of the Kicker 6x9s. This is a result of the increased bass. I recommend these to anyone looking for an improvement over stock speakers who isn't using an aftermarket amp/receiver due to their efficiency.

Pros: Efficient, controlled bass, significant improvement over Honda stock speakers.

Cons: Not a drop-in replacement on the 7th gen Accord sedan.

Kicker 6x9

Luke from Kansas City on 8/25/2014

These speakers aren't bad. I already had an alpine head unit, but no subs. These speakers are all treble, with decent mids, however contrary to the other reviews here, the bass was very disappointing. It was weaker than my factory speakers. Whenever I turn the volume up to even half way, the bass distorts and the front speakers buzz. I just ordered 2 12" subs, so I'm assuming once those get installed, these will sound much better, since I'll only use them for treble and mids. Good speakers, but don't buy them unless you have a sub... if you have a sub already, then these are for you, if not I would recommend Pioneer brand, they have way better bass for a mid range speaker.

The speakers themselves are great. What a difference compared to the factory units. Crutchfield harness fit as expected. However, the speaker's mounting holes are not the same as the car's. I could get only two of the holes to line up. The other two were off by about the hole diameter (new speaker bigger than old one). So I picked a diagonal pair to use for mounting. To keep the speaker from rocking or rattling, I stuck a bead of rubber around the perimeter of the speaker frame (some leftover sticky-back weather stripping). So far, so good.

Pros: Great sound.

Cons: Almost didn't fit.

These speakers have very clean sound. Happy with the sound level as well. they keep up with the factory amp speakers nicely.

Pros: Clean sound. Nice levels. Easy installation.

Cons: More for the car...the monsoon system in the pontiac grand am has a 4 wire hookup. 2 for the tweets that are full range and 2 for the woofer that is amped and crossed over. You lose the amped set when you wire in these speakers. But speakers still keep up with the factory front speakers nicely. They'd be a little more powerful if we could wire in through the amp though. The little adapter thingy that came with was pretty useless. Wrong shaped adapter for my car.

Scott S from Anchorage, AK on 3/14/2014

Heads up--just because the speaker dimensions fit doesn't mean they will work well with the rest of your system. In my case, Crutchfield rep helped me select a pair of these Kickers, which sound fine, but their sensitivity is so much lower than the rest of my car's (OEM) speakers that they kickers get drowned. Only solution is to replace ALL of your car's OEM speakers at the same time--a costly proposition, and one which Crutchfield sales reps don't tell you at the time of sale. My new Kickers are now headed for Craig's List...

I installed these in a 2012 Chrysler 300C. They are a marked improvement over the stock speakers. Enhance the highs and mids that were not very "crisp" with stock. I was hoping the bass responce would be a little better, but they are not designed to be a sub-woofer so I dont think the speakers are to blame. All in all, I am very pleased with these speakers.

Pros: Nice crisp highs and mids. Improved bass response over stock.

Cons: Only three of the four screw holes lined up. Had to drill one on each side. This is the only reason I gave four instead of five. These are very good speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers at a low cost, I mean they aren't going to sound super amazing, but for the price you pay they are definitely an upgrade over the factory speakers. The bass does get distorted the higher the volume goes, but I'm sure I could make them sing if I hooked them up to an amp. My only complaint was that Crutchfield said this would fit in my 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic, not a modified fit, just a fit. Well that wasn't true... The bracket that holds the magnet in place was much bulkier than my factory 6x9 so it did not fit in the tear drop opening and it wasn't flush with the speaker grills that went over top. Needless to say I had to bend part of the opening to allow a wider opening. After that they were fine, but just something I wanted to note.

I replaced the rear deck speakers in my 2006 Honda Accord Sedan. The original speakers were lightweights compared to the Kickers. The Kickers offer more bass and a brighter sound when adjusted via the original OEM receiver/ 6-CD changer. I like my tunes on the road, but I'm not going to drop a bundle on car audio. That being said, the Kickers are quite an improvement and within my modest budget.

Pros: Improved sound quality on a budget. Easy installation; with props to Crutchfield's MasterSheet re: Honda Accord. Thumbs up for including the OEM to aftermarket speaker adapters! Another reason to order from Crutchfield.

Cons: Two minor issues; I could only get two diagonal screws to line up on each speaker to match the holes on the Accord. I may address this when the weather warms up. Also the Kickers sit a bit higher in the Accord's rear deck recess. I had to trim the "oval" flange under the rear speaker grills with a dremel cut off wheel to allow the grills to pop into place..

Bass reverberates throughout his 2000 Eclipse (speakers face each other), and the full range satisfies me that when he grows out of the bass craze that he will be able to enjoy REAL MUSIC!....smiling ...must admit that some of the bass heavy stuff he played for me was awesome and really showed what these speakers can do. Don't tell my son, but I saved a few bucks by going with the Scratch and Dent version and they arrived flawless to my eye. Not too often that a 47 year old and a teenager can brecollective thrilled with something, but we definately are!

Pros: Great Bass coupled with crisp mid and high range Heavy high quality materials Scratch and Dent arrived flawless

Cons: None

I was hoping for a good speaker and a reasonable price and these Kickers have exceeded my expectations. I had considered a higher end, more expensive, component speaker system but I based on the favorable reviews these speaker received on Crutchfield, I ended up choosing these Kickers and they sound great. I paired them up with a Sony MEX-GS600BT and they sound better than the Dodge Infinity premium audio system that they replaced.

Pros: The sound great for a variety of music at all volume levels. Excellent value for the price.

Cons: Screw holes in factory opening required re-drilling.

Kicker Ram 1500 (2014)

ET from Red Bank, NJ on 1/17/2014

I installed these in replacement of my factory speakers. These things kick butt! I like deep bass, and great hi tones as well, these speakers deliver! They actually sound so good with the deep bass it sounds like a sub is in the car. I installed these in my Ram 1500 doors, front and back on a Quad cab. A note about that: they fit right in on the back doors, had to tap one hole in the plastic to mount, no biggie, the front they hit the window track, not the window itself. So what I did was take a Dremel and cut off the little hole things off the grilles they came with, wasn't using the grilles anyway. They made for a perfect spacer between the speaker and the door, and thus not hitting the window track now. You will need the wire adapter Crutchfield supplies. Once installed these speakers work excellent with the factory 8.4 head unit, I also replaced the front dash speakers with Infinity Reference, the sound is awesome. The bass in these resonates in the vehicle just great! Highly, highly recommend.

Pros: Great, resonating bass, tweeters and mid sound great also.

Cons: None I can think of.

Great sounding speakers for the price. We installed them in my son's car to replace the original speakers which no longer worked. My son loves the sound and said they provide a lot of bass which is one of the things he was looking for.

Pros: Great sound at a good price

Cons: A template for drilling the installation holes would have been very helpful. The speakers could only be placed in the rear deck of the car for marking where to drill the holes from above. However, the only way to drill the holes was from below (up from the trunk) due to the back window being in the way. A cardboard or paper template would allow us to mark the holes from below.

Great replacement for the OEM speakers in my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. I can now hear all of the highs and lows I was missing with the old paper speakers. The 6X9s were a direct bolt in and the supplied adapters made it a snap to install them. Good value for the price.

Pros: Clear highs and lows and plenty of base.

I used these speakers as stock replacements in a nissan Titan in the front doors, and with the factory radio they sound better than I had hoped for. Highs and mids are crystal clear, and the lows thump hard. Sound great at any volume. I will be using these speakers in my dodge truck as well

Pros: Sound is amazing

Cons: Holes didn't perfectly line up in the door panels even after the "required trimming"

A lovely unit. Nice strong bass but also heaps of treble to use. Heavy units which means you really want a good solid footing for them, but its a good sign that they have plenty behind them for either head unit or amp connection. An excellent mid level speaker.

Pros: Nice balance between base and treble. Clear and accurate.

Cons: Mounting holes don't match my 2013 dodge ram crew cab exactly in the rear doors. (not the speakers fault I don't think.

I'm not a stereo official by any means. So getting speakers that shound good, and were easy to install were a must. These speakers achieved this. Kicker makes a good product. They've been "in the biz" for some time now and have tried and true products. I hear excellent highs and full mid-ranges with these speakers. 2013 Dodge Challenger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers and the 5 1/4" versions within the same line to replace the factory speakers in my 2013 Dodge Challenger. I'm completely new to car audio, so Crutchfield's articles and product adviser was a huge help in finding what I needed for my car. They shipped all of the harness adapters, adapter plates, and extra things I needed for the install. Since I'm not an audiophile I was worried that just swapping the speakers without changing the radio, adding amps, and adding a sub-woofer wouldn't be noticeable to my untrained ears. But the difference was night and day. With just one speaker plugged in and using the radio's balance feature to pan from new to old, the difference is quite noticeable. After all the speakers had been rep My only complaints are I had to use a dremel on the metal frame of these speakers to get them to fit my door adapter. Whether that's a slightly out of spec speaker or out of spec adapter, I can't say. But it's something you might want to be aware of if you're doing a similar upgrade. Really looking forward to hearing what these sound like when properly powered.

Pros: Great price Ample amount of power Major improvement over stock speakers

Cons: Had to do a bit of work with a Dremel to get them to fit factory adapter Highs are a bit harsh, but that may mellow out over time.

Will get components as well.

I bought these to replace my old worn out 6x9's in my Honda Accord. I give them 4 stars because mounting didn't allow me to use all four bolts. I used three as the last one wouldn't fit into place. Nice tight mid. Handles high volumes very well. Powering off my OEM HU. Doesn't distort if at all with my OEM. treble is a little higher than I'm used to. Coming from a 1 way rear, to a 3 way. Completely blows away even the BMW system in another vehicle I own.

Pros: Tight Sound, distortion free

Cons: Mounting.

2005 Honda Accord Hybrid
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great and really shine when amped with about 80W RMS per speaker. I installed these in a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid and the factory speakers were proven to be garbage. Unfortunately, the hard plastic/rubber ring that sits on top of the surround presents an installation issue as the factory grilles are designed to press onto the mounting plate thus the factory grille will not attach to the rear deck without modification. It appears that all 6X9 speakers on Crutchfield's site have this type of ring. This is no ding on the speakers themselves, just a warning to anyone wanting to put these or any other speakers into their Honda Accord. Also, I was only able to attach 2 of the 4 screws. The mounting plate has additional screw holes that would allow a 4 point attachment but that blasted ring covers those up. I ended up cutting some shelf liner to fit around the speakers to prevent them from vibrating on the rear deck since they will not sit perfectly flush without the other 2 screws.

Pros: Superb sound. Excellent construction. Nice sized magnets.

Cons: Definitely not a drop-in replacement for Honda Accords. But then again, I am not sure that anything out there is.

Running off a kenwood kdc-x997 head unit. The speakers sound really good , however I do plan to install an mtx 75x4 amp to door speakers. I will also be adding a pair of 10 inch Memphis subs driven by 500 watt class d memphis amp. But for now i am very pleased with the improved sound. I installed everything myself with the great free kits and harnesses provided by Crutchfield. The pac adapter was very easy to connect and install. It took me about 20 minutes to connect the radio wire harness to the pac unit and about 10-20 to install in my dash. Thanks to the great customer service and tech support from Crutchfield, my istall went great. It looks like every thing was installed by professionals.

However, the low frequencies on these speakers are way impressive, making the purchase of a sub possibly unnecessary if using an amplifier for the speakers.

Pros: Great highs and superb lows. quick hitting, deep bass. Perfect fit.

Cons: None that i have found.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I read a lot of reviews from Ram owners, and Kicker seemed to be the speaker of choice for the 3rd gen quad cab. I can see why. When I installed these speakers (along with a pair of Kicker KS60's), I discovered that a previous owner had already replaced the factory speakers with a set of infiniti's, so I didn't expect much improvement. But the Kickers have a cleaner, richer sound with a lot more bottom end. They're a great upgrade, and I wouldn't hesitate to tell another Ram owner to step up to these speakers.

Pros: sound quality, cost

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these for my sons buick regal to start rebuilding he sound system. Slipped right in the factory rear deck with no problems. After hooking up the deck, door speakers, amps and subs he is well on his way. Tuning the system was obnoxious. These 6X9 are absolutely stunning. He thought they were his subs!!! The clarity is amazing and we couldn't be more pleased. From the planning to the finished install Crutchfield was there to help. Thanks a million

Pros: Ease of install Clarity Bass Wiring adapters fix to perfection

Cons: Deeper than the factory, if you want to call that a con

This speakers are great! Using a kicker 200.4 amp to drive them. and pioneer 250x1 for a kenwood 10 in sub enclosure. They actually have enough base by themselves that you dont need a sub. I allready had the other equipment and just wanted the extra thump for some songs. Great speakers at a Fair price. They seem to handle alot of power without distortion!

Pros: Nice base and highs very clear without distortion at higher levels

Cons: none

Very Nice!

I ordered and got the speakers in less than 2 days! Mounting hardware was included along with some additional wiring (not needed). These were used in a 2002 New Beetle and the sound (especially the bass) is incredible! Cannot recommend them high enough!

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1/2" PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced-dome tweeter; PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

2" Dome Midrange: The 2" dome midranges provide a strong response in the critical midrange band where the majority of the vocals are located.

If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. There can be several reasons for this. Sometimes it is an issue of under-powering the new speakers, but I doubt this is the case here. More likely it is a case of the speakers needing to break in, or possibly needing a better seal. Our Tech's will be able to help diagnose. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. The issue appears to be the height of the speakers. I'd recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss further if there are modifications you can perform to make these work. If not, then they can also help you pick out speakers that will fit.[ Jeff  Dec 16, 2013 ]  Staff

I wasn't happy with the bass. As a matter of fact, I really don't think these are good rear speakers (which is what they were advertised as). I'm thinking of replacing them with better ones.[ KIMBERLY  Dec 28, 2013 ]
It surprisingly has a nice bass! I think it's quite powerful. At times, I often mistaken it for my subwoofer's bass. Hope this helps[ ASHLEIGH E  Dec 05, 2013 ]
It has impressive bass for a 6x9 speaker, but if you want real powerful bass, you need a powered subwoofer. For 6x9, these have good bass, though.[ JESSE  Dec 05, 2013 ]
It puts out a good amount of bass.[ JEROME  Dec 04, 2013 ]
It is not a powered speaker, and my point of comparison is the original, factory speakers, which were 20 years old, but they have a nice, rounded sound with the Kicker front speakers & they had the best overall specs of the speakers available from Crutchfield at the time (full 20 - 20 kHz range, RMS & peak power-handling). I Ann using the Kickers with a JVC stereo & no additional amplifier at the moment. Also, I installed a powered Infinity subwoofer in the trunk not long afterward, which obviously provides much more punch than a set of passive speakers could. Overall, I'm very happy with these speakers - the only reason I went with the Infinity (10") sub over a Kicker (8") sub is the Infinity had much better specs & Crutchfield was offering $$$ off at the time, which put them in the same price point.[ JIM  Dec 04, 2013 ]
I would say it has a very solid bass response. My son has played some music with heavy bass and they definitely kick. No subwoofer thump, but they can rattle my rear view mirror enough that I see it move.Still loving the speakers![ DANIEL J  Dec 04, 2013 ]
I am not an expert on audio by any means, but I believe that for the price, the bass response and power is very good.[ LISA J  Dec 04, 2013 ]
There full range with solid bass...[ BERTRAM  Dec 04, 2013 ]
Yes. I am extremely pleased with the way these speakers sound. The bass is not overwhelming, and does not drown out the music. 6×9 is a massive speaker to begin with, so you better believe you get some nice sound. I got them on sale, but would buy them again at full price if they went out for any reason. Just make sure you have an amp that can supply enough power or else you'll be missing out on the full capability of these babies.[ Derek  Dec 04, 2013 ]
Yes, deep and powerful, I have them on my rear deck and even when I have my sub off it still feels like it is on just a few notches down[ ROBERT  Dec 04, 2013 ]
