Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.
Kicker's 40CSS654 component speaker set provides low end from a tough 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The separate 3/4" titanium dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. The outboard crossover network allows you to pick from three different tweeter level settings so you'll get balanced sound wherever you're sitting. Grilles are included.
Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.
Great sound even with the top down on my Jeep!

Great sound even with the top down on my Jeep!
Great sound purcahsed for an up grade for my 2003 mini cooper
I got support from a few representatives at kicker, they suggested this higher priced speaker over others that were half the cost. They argued this speaker is really loud and has exceptional sound quality. The kicker 6.5 has neither good sound quality or loudness. It is even making crackling and popping sounds as it is now starting to die. It's three months old. My friends stock speakers in his honda civic 09 are way better than this. Buy speakers that a friend has suggested, not speakers suggested from representatives from kicker that are probably paid commission.
Pros: Packaging was nice
Cons: Poor sound quality, clarity and not loud at all. Speakers die after a few months.
Best sound for the money! Clear continuous sound at any volume! Blows away any stock speaker.
Pros: Great speaker for the money! Make sure you seal the spaces around the woofer to prevent any air leaking and maintain a crisp sound.
Cons: Depending on where your'e installing these speakers, it will require some modifications. Not a big deal if you have some skills.
Speaker sound great! Need more power to them but right now they sound great and are a great improvement over stock.
Pros: Great sounding. Easy to install.
These are great. They're clearer than my previous Polk Audio MM. Just not as deep.
Overall pretty good, but I have to deduct 2 stars due to the tweeters being too strong. They completely overpower the rest of the sound. If you turn it up even a little, the sharp sounds from the tweeters will hurt your ears.
High highs and mid mids!! Great set and it sounds awesome
Great product easy to install sounds great
Everything is great Crutchfield team helped with everything just saving up to get a new amp to run these things
love them great step up from stock
I replaced my Alpine component speakers and I can tell you this the Kickers blow the Alpines I had and the Kickers are not even broken in yet so I can imagine how they will sound after broken in also would like to add that Crutchfields people are a great help with any questions you have.
Pros: Easy install, crisp clean sound
Excellent fitment in my Jeep JK, good sound quality, and excellent sensitivity, all on the factory radio. Good value.
Perfect fit om both, my font and rear 2004 Montero Sport.
Cons: Non so far.
These speakers sound great in the front doors of my Nissan frontier with the factory headunit. I will buy a second set for the rear doors.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: None so far
great sound. great power handling. great price.
I recently replaced all OEM speakers in my 2002 Tahoe with 40csss654's in the front doors, 40cs654's in the back doors and a 40cws82 8" sub in place of the factory sub. I am amazed at the improvement. Figured it would be an all weekend project, but had it done in one afternoon. Took a little dremel work to fit the tweeters, and new screw holes for the sub, but no big deal. Very happy with the out come of this project. Still using the stock amp and head unit, but not for long. That will be my next DIY project.
Pros: Easy ordering. Perfect fit.
Cons: Already scheming on next project.
Upgrading from a factory speaker-- what's not to like? This sound beautiful at the highest output of the aftermarket stereo. Great sound quality for both highs and lows.
Range of sound is great!
Great product that produces a great sound and look to the car
They fit seemlessly in my vehicle and make a major difference in sound. I have them connected to a 4 channel JL Audio amp. The speakers give clear highs and lows simultaneously, and even push out some surprising bass. I highly recommend these speakers.
Pros: Clear sound and easy install (at least for Chevy Blazers).
Cons: They are a bit pricy but are worth it.
Changed out the factory speakers to these from Kicker . Had not considered the component speakers until my cructhfeild advisor recommended them. Unbelieveable how much better the sound quality is. I used to have to turn the sound up to moderatly high levels to hear the full range of the music?lyrics because the front speakers are low in the doors. My new speakers have a much better mid range in the door and a 3/4" tweeter on top of the door near the pillar. Do not need the volume levels I used to use. Now it is an option to turn it up!
Pros: Two speakers replace one. Everything fits nicely inside the door with the new tweeter on top. Excellent sound quality. Crossover included....
Cons: The hardest part was drilling the rivets out of the old speakers to get the new parts mounted. I used 1/4-20 x 1" bolts with nylon lock nuts instead of the included sheet metal screws so the new kit wouldn't vibrate out of the door!
Easy to install, fit right into the factory spacers with no problem. Sound is crisp and clear!!
Pros: Ease of Installation, sound is great
Cons: Modification to door panels required to fit tweeters
I bought this system for my Fiesta 4 months ago. It sounded great when it was put in, and now, the front driver side tweeter is cutting in and out very badly and it ruins the sound completely. I'm not the kind of person who listens to there music so loud that it hurts your ears, and I didn't push them to there limits at any time. I am very disappointed with the reliability of the tweeters.
Pros: Great bass
Cons: Terrible treble
Perfect fit in my vehicle and sound much louder and clearer than the factory Infinity speakers that came in my Jeep.
Pros: Simple plug and play. Louder and clearer than the factory speakers
Not compatible with Pioneer AVH X2700BS Stereo. Factory speakers sounded better. This was installed by a professional company and they couldn't believe it. Ended up exchanging for JL Audio CS6500. Much better!
Cons: horrible speaker
These Kicker component speakers were just what I needed. The install was easy and the sound quality is outstanding. Great product at a great price. This is the second set of Kickers that I have put into this car (different locations) and I;m seriously thinking that I might go for Kickers for my subs and after being a Rockford guy for many years that is saying something for sure.
Pros: Easy Install Great sound
Amazing sound quality and bass. Easy to install especially with the instructions sent along with them.
Pros: -Amazing sound quality -speaker adapter for perfectly in my Chevy -Extremely easy to install of you are familiar with removing your car's door panel and are familiar with how to connect wires
Cons: The tweeters came with a lot of different mounting brackets and it was rather difficult to choose which one was the correct and appropriate option for my vehicle.
I just installed these Kicker component speakers on my daily commute car, a 2013 Toyota Corolla S. These components were installed in the front, along with a pair of Kicker 6x9's (40CS6934) on the rear. The deck I installed is a Kenwood Excelon DNX892 with Nav. Although this deck is rated at 22-watts rms per channel, it's simply not enough to power these sets of Kickers, and truly bring out the highs and the lows. The mid frequencies are superb, but the treble and bass are just satisfactory. I'm going to purchase a 75-watt rms per channel, Kenwood Excelon amp (XR400-4) next and so, hopefully, that will bring these speakers to life.
Pros: (I will provide an update once I get an amp hooked up as well)
Cons: Needs an amp.
Nice replacement speaker system. Sound is is clear on receiver only and even better after adding a2 channel amp. Thumbs up it's good stuff.
Pros: Easy install in doors. About 30 mins each.
The sound is superb.
Pros: All pros.
Cons: No cons.
These are quality lower cost speakers that sound great. Great improvement over stock and will give years of quality sound.
Pros: Install was simple with several different mounting options for the tweeter.
Cons: Double sided tape should be included to mount crossover so no additional holes need to be created.
I just upgraded the speakers in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. These are a vast improvement in sound and the harnesses supplied made it a breeze to install. The tweeters are an exact fit for the stock location. The harnesses do not account for the crossover and tweeter though so you do have to do some work on that end. The speaker brackets supplied were not an exact fit but definitely helped. The product itself was 5 stars but the only thing making my review 4 stars was the install stuff supplied that was helpful but only got you so far.
Pros: Great improvement in sound Wiring harnesses make it easy Tweeters are a perfect fit just to slide in the factory location
Cons: There is no harness for the tweeter and crossover so you have to do some work in cutting the harness to make it all work
This is my first time ordering a speaker sound system for my car and i have to say these are definitely a great improvement over my stock system. I own a 2013 Honda Accord coupe and i could not be any happier with the outcome. I am not a sound system expert, nor was i looking for something crazy, and i am happy to say that i love these speakers. The sound is clear and there is a bass improvement over the stock system. I cannot say whether the installation was easy or not, since i had a shop install them for me, but i will definitely not regret buying these speakers.
Great selection and price from Crutchfield. Even included mounting brackets and wiring harness the local big box store wanted to charge for. Saved $60! Sound great. Excellent speakers.
Pros: Sound is excellent with these components. Easy install everything was included.
Makes my Toyota Tundra sound great even with factory radio .. Lost alittle volume but I'm go a install amp to fix that
Great product, almost all the hardware included and most importantly sounds great.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: The Crutchfield supplied brackets or adapters were difficult to use, someone should really invest some time on designing a more suitable solution for standard sized speakers.
Speakers sound really good. I do believe I still need a sub to fully round out the sound, but it's a good start from the blown speakers that came with the 2001 Xterra I just bought. I had some trouble, it's my first car stereo speaker install. The mounting brackets that Crutchfield sold with the speakers didn't fit. However I found I didn't need them and was able to screw the speakers directly into the factory mount with the holes only being about 1mm off from perfect. But I made it happen! The tweeters had me baffled for awhile, until I realized I could remove the factory tweeters and their mounting bracket. I was then able to pop the kicker tweeter into the backside of the plastic tweeter cover of the door panel. It fit almost perfectly and I added a little super glue to help secure it, however I don't think that was really needed. I left some extra length to the tweeters wiring so I could move the door panel around while reinstalling it. Sounds great!!!!
Pros: Sounds great!
Cons: Not so easy to install.
Description says you need to make custom mounts for tweeters, but you can use factory mounts with a less-than-5-minute modification: Remove door panel. Remove factory speaker grill. Unscrew retaining nuts from factory tweeter mount screws. Screws are plastic so don't torque on them - ask me how I know! Remove tweeter mount from door panel. So can later use factory wire connectors to connect Kicker crossover to factory wire connector at woofer location in the door, unscrew wire retainer on factory tweeter, and snip wires close to tweeter. Factory tweeter is slid down onto retaining pins and epoxied to mount. Pop tweeter off mount by prying up With small srewdriver at tweeter base where it meets mount. Use a 1 - 3/4" hole saw to cut a hole for Kicker tweeter. Factory mount has a "crosshair" type tweeter "grill", and on back side of mount, crosshair is indented, which the hole saw drill bit fits perfectly into, so use that as a guide for your hole saw. This will cut a hole, and get rid of everything else you don't need on mount in one-fell-swoop! Unscrew retaining collar on Kicker tweeter and slide tweeter into mount from front. Since factory mount is thin, flip tweeter collar over and reinstall it on tweeter from back side of mount to secure tweeter to mount. Re-attach tweeter mount to door panel. Note that mount fits onto door panel only one way. Remember, screws are plastic. Voila, new tweeter in factory location!
Pros: Speakers sound great. Attached crossovers to back side of door panels in front of lower door pockets with 3M double-sided tape, so I could later adjust tweeter levels w/o having to remove door panels. Loosen screw and bottom of door panel, door pocket lifts out, and I can reach crossover switches. I later did the factory crossover bypass mod, and they sound even better.
Installed these in my 2005 Chevy Colorado. They sound about twice as good as factory speakers. I did not use the door tweeters as I did not want to modify the fitment but they still sounded great without them! I recommend to anyone looking for better than factory sound.
Pros: sound great Easy install Fit good
I've had these components installed in my 2 door coupe for a few months now, which is known to have lots of road noise. Both the tweeters and woofers are in the factory locations, the very front dash and the bottom front doors. I first tried them with a 50 watt rms per channel amp, and honestly my first impression was that they were mediocre. They distorted at high volume and the mids and bass weren't there. Didn't think they were any better than factory. That was until I installed a more powerful amp. With 100-125 watt rms to each side, THIS SET CAME ALIVE!!! The tweets rang through the freeway noise and the woofers gave that punchy distortion-free bass expected from Kicker. Response was even better after sound deadening. I don't have a subwoofer yet, but now I am considering not getting one. The only gripe I had left were the 3/4 inch tweeters. The music I played brought out some harsh highs that my ears couldn't handle at high volume, even after reducing the treble all the way down from my headunit. I figured the harshness was a signature of the metallic tweeter material. I didn't want to go through the hassle of starting over, so I bought a separate set Alpine's Type S silk tweeters. I had to widen the dash opening and cut/changed connectors to accommodate the new tweeters, but they worked PERFECTLY with the Kicker crossovers. Now I have natural sounding highs and punchy lows, still all for less than Kickers KS series components!
Pros: Having the right powered amplifier will really bring this set to life! Tuned correctly and with some sound deadening, the midbass from the woofers provide a nice low punch and the mids and highs cut through the road noise. I really recommend this set for the price.
Cons: Some don't prefer the harsh sounding highs from the metallic tweeters like this set provides and I am one of those people. Not enough to knock off a star though. I would recommend Kickers KS series components for a little more, or buying a separate set of silk tweeters on sale (which I personally did).
Great clarity and with my amp, I can now crank these bad boys up and still they sound crisp
Pros: Clear and crisp
I replaced the front stock speakers with these. I am now getting good sound separation. Distortion has reduced and the sound is cleaner. Highs are crisp and clear, but I feel they lack some mids/bass. I probably need to replace my deck, but that's the next chapter
Pros: - Good highs. Clean/crisp sound
Cons: Mids/Bass. They probably need a good amp to drive the sound
For the price point of these components, you aren't going to get much more bang for your buck! The highs are crystal clear and the mids have very decent range.
the sound quality is very poor when used with an amp. I have purchased 2 sets of these speakers, thinking the first set must have been a bad set. Both sets have the same problem, when used with an amp the high tones (tweeters) fade out to a flat sound at higher volumes. Kicker tech says that the gain is not set to match the head unit, but no matter how the gain is set the high tones still fade out at high volume. I am using an amp that is 80 watts rms X 4, these speakers should be able to handle that power but they do not. Beware not for upgraded aftermarket systems!
Pros: good factory upgrades
Cons: not for amp powered systems
This was a great upgrade to my 2015 Jeep Wrangler unlimited
Pros: Great quality sound easy to install
Very nice set of speakers and fairly easy installation for a first timer. Instructions were clear. Replaced 15 year old factory speakers and what an improvement!
I just installed these in my pickup this morning. They replace the factory Infiniti speakers that were worn out. They were simple to install and sound great!
I purchased these speakers and the 2 way coaxial speakers May of last year with a 12 in Kicker Competition Series Sub for my car. I am extremely happy with the sound I have using these Kickers. The guy I bought the car from can't believe how good it sounds now. I plan to get a set of the component speakers for my truck next
Easy install and great sound. The DB setting is a great idea and easy to dial in the tweeter.
Pros: Easy install
Excellent sound, considerable improvement over the stock Wrangler speakers. The tweeters were a perfect fit into the factory dash tweeter location. Required no cutting or modifications, they look factory installed. The mids were a little more difficult to install. The adapter supplied with the speakers was useless. Ended up cutting the factory speakers so I could use them as adapters (found video online).
Pros: Clarity, tweeter install
Replaced stock speakers/tweeters in my Nissan Frontier, alot better now.
Pros: Good sound, easy install.
These speakers are really great! I'm using them with my new Pioneer FH-X820BS stereo. I used the new stereo with the factory Chevy Colorado speakers for over a month. Finally put my new Kicker speakers in yesterday, and Wow! What a difference they make. Crisp, clear, music with plenty of bass. Took some time fooling with the Pioneer audio setting to get the speakers sounding just right, but well worth the time. I'm also using a Kicker 40CSS654 Hideaway powered sub with power range: 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power). Just an awesome system in my opinion.
Pros: They sound really awesome!
Great, clear sound. Especially (obviously) when sufficiently powered. Note that these are not going to produce too much on the low-end. But the highs, mid-highs, and some mid-lows are extremely clear. Especially on the higher notes, you can really feel the sound... it is really a great experience. I just replaced factory front-door speakers with these. Extremely easy to do.
Pros: Clear Highs, Clear Mids, Easy Setup, Great Value
Cons: Very little low end (but that's what subs are for)
Easy install. Bought these to replaced damaged crossovers on previous Kickers. Install was easy with the included harness. Only thing was that tweets were smaller, and I was thinking that I should make a bracket for it. Called customer support, and they suggested to just epoxy them on (not too much epoxy at 3 points) so I did. worked great
Pros: Nice clear sound with plenty of bass. Easy install
Love these speakers, originally went with the Roxford Fosgate 45 Watts, but these are much much better. Save some time and just go with these.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: None really
Wifee loves it, and that's all that matters. Easy to install with the provided harness. Replacing an old set of damaged Kickers. Called customer support because tweeters were smaller than old set., and was thinking that I needed to make a bracket. Tech just told me to epoxy them on--not too much though (at 3 points).
Pros: Wifee happy. Nice bass. Nice tweets.
Cons: Not really a con, but would have wished the tweets were the same size as the old ones so that I wouldn't have to epoxy them in.
We all know you can't go wrong with Kickers. But I was impressed enuff with these to buy the matching DVC sub. I've had every speaker there is or was @ one time or another. These were just for my RV so I wanted cheaper not slamming. I originally bought Alpine Type Rs but couldn't justify the cost for the sound since I was only pushing them with 18 watts. So I exchanged them for these Kickers... Way better sound off a head unit I was impressed for the $. My only complaint is a humming feedback occasionally, it may be the old wiring in my RV no big deal.
Cons: The 6 & 3/4 were supposed to fit in a 6.5. I had to enlarge the hole in my case? The tweeter mounts are stupid I made my own.
great sound easy to install
Pros: Fit it was perfect
Very satisfied with this product. Easy install in 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Nice crisp clear sound.
The sound that comes from these speakers amazed me and for the price I was very happy.
I've had Pioneers, Polks, and Infinity speakers and these blow them all out of the water. Well worth a few more bucks. I can crank my stock stereo to full volume with absolutely no distortion or crackle.
Pros: Affordable, great quality and performance
I have never been a big fan of Kicker products, but since I had the Kicker 4x200 watt amp installed at the dealership I have noticed it is quite the sound monster. I decided to upgrade the factory speakers and though I would have preferred a different brand I am GLAD I listened to the advisors at Crutchfield and spent the extra cash on these! They are INCREDIBLY Clear and even added more bass than I would have imagined. I have yet to change out the factory tweeter as I have not found an access to removal of the A-Pillars, but the lower components are just GREAT sounding!! Could the price be a bit lower? Yeah, I still think Kicker is a bit proud of themselves when it comes to price-point, but they are TOP NOTCH in my book!
Pros: Easy fit with the FREE mounting brackets (provided by Crutchfield) and DYNAMIC yet ultra clear sound!
Cons: Have not found a way to replace factory tweeters and when I do I fear the crossovers are gonna be a bit large. Price could be a tad better.
Omg! Way better over stock! I cant even put them up to max and thats on the stock head unit. Cant wait to hear these with my pioneer head unit. The sound is so crisp. Very impressed of the sound for the price. Great sound for a low price!
Cons: Installing the tweeter in the subaru took some adjustments. Thats it.
These speakers were a great upgrade to the factory system of my SUV. Bass are deeper and highs sound great(natural), my tone controls sit now in the middle of the scale. Tweeter gain sits on 0dB setting.
Pros: Great sound! Great Price
Pretty good speakers overall clean sound but the pitch is alil high not too deep of a sound
Pros: High watt
Cons: The price
Nice sounding speakers works well in my car for easy listening style of music
Pros: easy to install sounds good
Cons: lack of low end
One of the easiest installs I have ever done. The kit and instructions provided worked well. I did have to do a little modifications but nothing that was difficult.
Pros: Sound great, not quite as deep of bass as I wanted but there is plenty of sound. It is a huge improvement over my factory speakers.
Unbelievable sound out of these speaker, it's difficult to leave the car.
Pros: Great Sound, Great Price, solid construction
Great sound and price. Great upgrade to my 08 Charger
Pros: Sound Easy installation Great price
Great sound and easy to install into my 2002 Silverado HD2500 Crew Cab. I was also able to put the new tweeters in the front door panels where the originals were for a factory look. This was an easy upgrade and would recommend them for the ease of assembly and the great sound.
Pros: Great sound, easy to install, perfect fit in the factory locations and reaonably priced.
Cons: None at this time
Great sound at a good price.Almost do not need my 8" sub anymore.
Pros: Good build quality.Good sound.
Cons: None yet.
I upgraded the under powered front factory speakers in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Major quality sound improvement. Now I just need to add a new amp and subs.
Pros: Easy to install. Everything included with Crutchfield purchase.
I bought these for my son's 2000 Toyota Tacoma for Christmas to replace his factory back speakers. We had previously put Kickers in the doors, replaced the factory head with a media player, and had a 12" sub installed, so all that was remaining was the back speakers. We installed these in a few hours. We wanted to mount the tweeters flush mount, which meant drilling 1-5/8" holes. Installation was really very simple and the end result was a professional looking installation with virtually no exposed wires. We noticed an immediate improvement to the overall sound of his system with the component tweeters now in the mix. Everything was crisp, clear and punchy. My son now has the most complete sound system of all of our vehicles.
Pros: Quality, easy of installation.
Sounds better than the top of the line Harmon Kardon speakers that came in my mini
Nice reasonable speakers at a reasonable cost. I am thinking they would sound even better once I get them powered by an Amp.
I like the kicker 40css564 is really the right choose I did for my honda accord sound system, the sound is really awesome and also the price is very affordable.
Great speaker for the money. Clips a bit early at full range off head unit power. Best when crossed over with a high pass filter while powering a separate sub. Great fit in Ford Mustang convertible and bolted right in without even having to drill different hole locations. Tweeter gain switch was unnecessary so I left it at 0. Too harsh otherwise.
Pros: Price, plenty of speaker wire, smallish x-over module
Cons: Time will tell how foam woofer-surrounds hold up. Would prefer poly or rubber but these are still worlds better than the stock paper/foam units
Great set of speakers.
Pros: Great sound quality for the best bang for your buck
Cons: When the bass is turned up all the way it muffles the sound of the voices singing.
Great Sound, easy to install
Pros: Installation was a breeze. I am very happy with the speakers.
Cons: My Truck already had a high end stereo with tweeters installed in the doors so I didn't need the crossovers so they sit in the box and I don't know what to do with them.
Great highs and sound crisper than the stock speakers. Needs an amp to get the full sound even with the radio cranked all the way up it's still not that loud . Clear not loud and no base
Pros: Clear highs
Cons: Does not get full potential with stock radio
Very good speakers have very clear sound for the size of the speakers
Pros: The sound is amazing hooked up to my kenwood touchscreen and the bass hits pretty hard for the size overall a very good speaker and quality
Cons: They do get kinda fuzzy at it's peak but that's normal for any speaker
I didn't realize that "scratch & dent" might mean " the wires to the tweeters have been cut". No worries. Everything was good They sound great!
It has an awesome sound on my 2014 Jeep
Had standard Kicker speakers in all 4 doors of my truck but sound wasnt quite right. I upgraded to the components after an easy installation thanks to Crutchfield's kit. The sound quality has improved greatly. At higher volume there is no distortion. I am very happy with the crisp sound.
Pros: Great sound, easy installation
I have installed the speakers into kick panels in my 1985 chevy truck and they sound great! I haven't gotten a chance to mess with the settings much but honestly I don't think I need to adjust much they come ready to go.
Pros: Easy to install, good price, good look, great sound!
I just want to confess that I'm giving these speakers 4 stars because I haven't had them long enough to really break them in. I chose them for several reasons: Sensitivity rating, frequency response range and customer rating. Definitely notice the higher sensitivity rating. They overpower my rear speakers. They have nice highs. I can't say that I find them to be super clear like some reviewers have mentioned. I do appreciate great speakers (my last vehicle had Infinity Kappas), Can't say that these match that quality, but I'm not disappointed. As far as other ratings, people like what they like. These are good for the money and were fairly simple to install. I was able to fit the tweeters in the door using the old bracket but I'm hearing a little vibration so i will have to cut out holes and use the parts included in the box. The woofers actually will fit using the bracket for the stock speakers, you just have to be a bit creative. I left the bracket riveted in and used my dremel to cut out the old speaker. These woofers fit right in and you just need to pre-drill some small holes to screw into the plastic edge. Since we're talking about woofers, I'll add that the low frequencies aren't that impressive. I can't wait to put my sub in. I don't set my amp/subwoofer up to a ridiculous level - just enough to totally round out the low end. It's definitely needed with these speakers.
Pros: Great price. Frequency response is pretty good for this class of speaker and is noticeable. Nice looking.
Cons: Weak low end. Nothing else, really.
Great product, but needs to be complimented with some subs. Mids are clear, and the tweeter is almost too good. Without any subs, don't expect to get any of the lows from these.
Pros: Great mids and highs
Cons: No lows
This speakers are amazing with my 1000 watt amp they sound so clear and loud I would recommend it.
Pros: Sound,look and everything
Cons: Installation screws
These speakers sound excellent! I drive a 2010 Civic Sedan and have the coaxial version of these in the back and the sound is great, but somewhat limited since I do not have an amp. I will be getting an amp to reach the high RMS rating of these. Bass is more than sufficient with a compact car. Installation was difficult for me... But if you have some electrical experience, it should be no problem.
Pros: Great sound, great price, high RMS.
Cons: Had to make my own mount for the tweeter. Complicated install for a novice, even with help from Crutchfield.
Ordered 2 pairs of these for my 2012 JEEP Wrangler JKU. I got them for the dash and roll bar i wanted them as an upgrade for my factory system but soon i found out that these are just way too much for my little factory HU which i knew when i ordered them. So i must either upgrade my HU or simply get a Line Output Converter which what i plan on doing.
Pros: Great quality, crisp sound, easy install.
Installed 2 sets of these in my '01 Jaguar XJ8 with an Alpine deck and 45wX4 amp and I'm very pleased. Good clean sound. These speakers have a very nice frequency response range. You don't really need a subwoofer unless you're a bass-head.
Pros: Good sounding speakers for the price. Great frequency response. Good quality.
Cons: Can't think of any cons other than the high level signal boost function on the cross-overs is excessive... Just switch it to the off position.
Great Value and Sound!
Just finished putting these in my 03 4runner today and man at the sound quality difference. You have to improvise a little when installing the tweeters but that is half the fun! They are running off of a pionner avh-x5500bhs head unit and they compliment each other nicely. They dont really handle the low end bass to well at high volumes but that can probably be fixed by adding an amp wich i will be doing later. My factory speakers, i thought they sounded ok, were really muddy sounding compared to these speakers. i also have the two way kickers installed in the back doors and they arent as loud but compliment one another pretty nicely. It is a highly recommended purchase!!!!
Pros: Good quality, superb sound, straight forward install
Cons: alot of wires that you have to tuck away and secure :)
I BOUGHT THESE AND HAVE THEM HOOKED UP TO A 4 CHANNEL AMP. THEY SOUND GREAT.
Excellent product. Clean and tight sound. Easy to install with the provided brackets for my Tundra, however, plastic speaker hole adapters are noisy so suggest making mdf adapters if needing them.
I installed the Kicker speakers in my sons Honda S2000. I had to drill holes for the tweeter which I also installed in the doors. The installation went very easy and the sound they components produced was amazing. We had all ready install some pioneer coaxial speakers prior but we're never happy with the sound. I recommend theses speakers highly. I will be installing a set in my GTO next.
Pros: High quality sound
Cons: None they put a great package together with this speaker system.
These speakers sound very good. Plenty of mid bass. I am running then with the Alpine 4 channel amp. Huge improvement over my stock setup.
Pros: Crisp sound
Cons: Highs are a but over powering, but not too bad.
These match my rear 6x9's perfectly. Just enough punch. No distortion until higher levels (OEM HU). The Crossovers have enough amplification that 6db is too much and 3 might be a bit much. I set mine at 3db. The tweeters are mounted in my doors, in fact, that was the most difficult part of the install. The crossovers come with zipties, I wish they'd come with 3m double sided to stick under the panel, or the door. something. I ziptied jt to a harness for the time being. The woofer fit EXACTLY inside my OEM bracket, no cutting required( so no rattle). As for the Sound It hits every note from even a low range, stuff that a dedicated sub should be taking care of. I'll be using the HPF and LPF in a new HU later to isolate it. Running off a low power OEM HU they take care of everything AND more. I'll be doing a speaker amp later. Might take care of the high end distortion. Would I buy them again? Yes.
Pros: OEM install, Price, Distortion free
Cons: Lack of undersurface mount for tweeter, weatherproofing could be improved on tweeter/crossover connection.
I have the Kicker 40CSS684 and the Kicker 40CSS654 in my car. I cant hear the difference between them so this review stands for both.
Pros: Easy to install. The wires from the crossover to the speakers have different connections so there is no way to mix them up. They put out a surprising amount of bass for their size. I still will put in subs anyway because im sure heavy bass through these will decrease their life. I listen to metal, rock, country, rap and electronic or dubstep and these speakers perform flawlessly in my opinion.
Cons: The tweeters are a little loud even on the +0 setting on the crossover. There is no need for the other settings. Buy other crimp connections to connect to the input wire, the ones they give are useless. Needed to adjust the higher frequencies down in my equalizer because they were too high. That may just be my specific application though.
Front door panel install. The speakers installed right into the existing speaker locations with no adjustments required including the tweeters. I originally set the tweeter level too high but once I lowered it, it sounded fantastic. Not real low bass response but I have these paired with the Kicker KS69 speakers and they more than take care of bass response. Paired together is fabulous. Couldn't be happier.
Pros: Fantastic sound, easy install.
Cons: Unfortunately Crutchfield did not send the bracket that was supposed to be needed for the install. Turns out that I didn't need it but would have been disappointed if I had.
This component setup didnt sound good to me in my 13 Wrangler. I guess because the woofer is pointed down and also to far from the tweeter so I ended up putting my kicker 3 ways back in the dash however I'm still using these tweeters as they don't sound to bad. Also the adapter plates didn't work for me so I just drilled new holes and mounted them.
These speakers are excellent. They have very good mid and low mid. I used them as the rear speakers in my expedition. They fill the gap in sound between my higher frequencies and the low bass beautifully. They also handle high sound levels with ease. Great speakers for the money. Go well with the qs line in the front.
Pros: Value for the money. Great low mid sound. easy install.
What a difference these speakers make. Dropped them in a two-seat convertible and can feel the air being pushed out. Makes buying a sub, for me, obsolete. they have more power than I will ever need. Great sound without distortion.
Pros: Great sound, a lot of power, easy to install.
Cons: None that I can find.
Speakers sound great! Crisp, rich and plenty of bass.
Pros: Plenty of bass
Cons: None noted
Great upgrade to factory speakers in 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Freedom Edition (really, cheap speakers in a $35k car?!). Sound better even than the matching 2 way 6.5" Kickers from the same CS series but which are half the price. Paired it with a small Alpine 45 x4 watt RMS amp so can't hear how loud they can go but no complaints here. Seem to have a little better low end that Polks which I have used in the past, which seem to have a high bias. The Crutchfield speaker adapter brackets are exactly what I needed, and the Mastersheets are SO useful!
Pros: worth it unless you're willing to spend the money for competition level gear, like I once did back in 1996
Cons: the only con I had was how relatively hard it is to get to the front dash speakers in my Jeep compared to most cars I've worked on; I'm not a super fan of tweeters up high as I don't like too much treble but that's the factory location - but the Kickers have a 3 position gain for the tweeters right on the crossover module!
The install was straightforward and what wasn't covered on paper was detailed precisely over the telephone. A great improvement over the stock speakers so don't wait and get yours today!
Pros: Great sound quality.
Cons: Clearer definitions of the crossover settings would have been nice.
nice sounding components.. and at a good price!! very easy too hook up.. Crutchfield helped me out with all the wires.. i got the hoooked up too a alpine mrx v70 and man does it sound great... very good buy if you clean loud sound..
Pros: very easy too set up..
Cons: no cons.... a perfect item..

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.
Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Crossovers: The component system includes passive 2-way crossover networks for a seamless transition between the woofers and tweeters. The slope is 12dB per octave (both high pass and low pass) and the crossover point is 4000 Hz. A switch on each crossover allows you to set the tweeter output; 0 dB, +3 dB, or +6 dB. The crossovers' input and output wires are attached; the woofer output has quick slide terminals that connect directly to the woofer and the tweeter output has bullet terminals that mate to the terminals on the tweeter wires. The crossovers' dimensions are:
Woofer Mounting: In addition to fitting standard 6-1/2 and 4-hole 6-1/2 applications, the woofer also has a standard 6-3/4 bolt pattern. However, if mounted in a 6-3/4 location the holes for the smaller pattern create an air leak, which should be sealed using a speaker baffle, or something similar.

I wanted a component set that offered good value and great sound. Since the Sound Ordnance amp I purchased was rated at 75 watts per channel, I wanted something that was around 100 watts rms. I think this combination will be great! Can't wait to hook them up in my all-new system. [ Michael May 16, 2016 ]
Reviews and price [ Michael Apr 06, 2016 ]
The low frequency response should add some much needed bass without adding a subwoofer. The high RMS wattage rating might not get touched by me but it guarantees I won't be pushing the speaker to its limit. Therefore I should be able to enjoy these for years to come!! [ J Mar 31, 2016 ]

Yes, the tweeters come out and can be mounted separate. This is what I did in my car. I have the tweeters mounted in the dash. The only downside is the wiring gets more complicated as you have to run the tweeter wires to the same box the speaker wires come from. [ Walter Aug 11, 2015 ]
I didn't look at them close enough to be able to say for sure (and it's been a year and a half since I installed them). But I don't think they can feasibly be taken apart. [ James Aug 08, 2015 ]
Yes the tweeter is a separate component that slips into the housing [ JEFF Aug 07, 2015 ]
Yes, you can remove the housings. I have a 1999 Honda Civic with Factory Tweeters. They are built into the door panels but I was able to pull them out from the rear of the panel and install the new ones in their place. The Kicker tweeters fit perfectly with no issues. Be careful with the tweeter levels, I had to make sure they were turned all the way down because at head level they highs were a little too much. Great speakers though, have had great success with them. [ CHRISTOPHER Aug 06, 2015 ]

RMS is usually per speaker. I wouldn't use an amp and push to max though. Usually half RMS coming from amp to speaker is plenty of juice and you won't fry anything [ JIM Apr 03, 2015 ]
RMS rating should be per speaker. I would not reccomend pushing the max rms rating though. Usually an amp pushing half the RMS is plenty [ JIM Apr 03, 2015 ]
For each set. Each door has their own rms. hope that helps [ AARON Apr 03, 2015 ]
RMS is for each channel. [ Joseph Apr 03, 2015 ]
They are 100 watts each RMS for a total of 200 watts. Very quality speakers but I wouldn't go higher than 90 watts each when powering them, or at least subtract gain. You will be very happy with them. Install baffle behind them for added midbass. [ thanks Apr 03, 2015 ]

Here's how I used factory mounts in 2000 Suburban with a less-than-5-minute modification: Remove door panel. Pop tweeter off mount by prying up With small screwdriver at tweeter base where it meets mount. [ MisterLeadFoot Aug 23, 2015 ]
