It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Bring on the treble and the bass

Kicker's 40CSS674 component speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The separate 3/4" titanium dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. The outboard crossover network allows you to pick from three different tweeter level settings so you'll get balanced sound wherever you're sitting. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Product Highlights:

  • component speaker system includes 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
  • 6-3/4" polypropylene woofers with polyester foam surrounds
  • 3/4" titanium dome tweeters
  • external crossover network with 3 tweeter levels (0, +3, +6 dB)
  • power range: 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 35-21,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-7/8"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Fantastic sound and great price! They have very little distortion even close to max volume. The tweeters required fabricating a mounting plate but over all installation was easy. The website DID say that the tweeters would require me to come up with my own mounting system.

Fantastic sound and great price! They have very little distortion even close to max volume. The tweeters required fabricating a mounting plate but over all installation was easy. The website DID say that the tweeters would require me to come up with my own mounting system.

Pros: Clear, clean sound

Cons: Had to fabricate mounting plates for the tweeters.

Replaced the Alpines my truck had in it (sounded like stock speakers) as one cut in/out and weren't stout enough to handle 45w. These take nearly max volume with no distortion if I have the EQ set right. Good mids and highs, with a little tiny bit of low. Clarity is pretty good. For the money I doubt they can be beat.

these speakers are great. currently they are hooked up with no amp and they still sound decent. my only complaint is that the crossovers are a little big and placing them in a place were they fit can be slightly awkward.

Pros: good OEM replacement, does not need an amp,

Cons: non

These speakers are great. Easy installation plug and play especially with Crutchfield's speaker harness. The only issue I had was with the metal clips for mounting the speakers they were too fragile. I had some from another set that I ended up using as I broke most of these ones that came with the set.

Pros: Easy installation plug and play. Great sound, handles plenty of power.

Cons: Mounting hardware is garbage.

The wife likes them. Nuff said!

Decent speaker

Jim from Trabuco Canyon, CA on 8/1/2017

2001 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are reasonably accurate, a bit bright, but my beef is the bass response. 35 hz is very generous, it's more like 45 or 50 Hz. What's annoying is I would've bought a more expensive speaker if I'd known the specs were inaccurate. This is not Crutchfield's fault as Crutchfield reports the manufacturer's specs.

Pros: Clear sound.

Cons: Limited bass response.

Relatively simple to put in with just a few wires to cut. My door required slight modification but I got them to work. I hear a slight fuzz from the tweeter every now and then when listening to music but I can't tell if it is the speaker itself causing the issue or the wiring in my car since my stock Bose speakers did it as well.

Pros: Solid clear sound

Cons: Wish there was a bit more punch to it

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the factory speakers in 2013 Corolla with Kicker 2 way speaker initially then switched to this component version and also added kenwood amp. These are amazing. It can also produce lows without problem. I wish crossover is inline or small to save space and avoid drilling and mounting inside the door panel. Tweeters were heavy for the size and sounds very good. Installed the tweeters in the sail panel where factory tweeters were but had to drill a hole to flush mount the tweeters.

Pros: Great sound, able to produce lows

Cons: Crossover is big, tweeters are big

Great sound, especially when you consider the price. These speakers really handle high volumes well. Amazing reproduction of all types of music. Wonderful full bass that's not muddy and crisp highs.

Cons: Absolutely none!

Absolutely flawless sound. As an ex- custom installer, I have always relied on kicker to bring the bass. But this component set has it all. Clear, crisp, high and mid range sound with lows to match. I couldn't be more happy with the sound. I plan on ordering the rear deck set and two kicker comp 12's and build a custom sealed enclosure for my wires Accord.

Pros: Flawless sound, perfect fitment, everything needed to do a perfect install is in the box. I absolutely love Crutchfield and depend on them when it's time to tick off the neighbors!

Cons: I have nothing bad to say, completely happy customer!

Erik from St Louis, MO on 6/15/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the Kicker speakers to replace the stock version. They have made a big difference in the sound, I never noticed the sound from the tweeters in the stock speakers, but with the Kicker component system the upgrade is a huge plus. I can't wait to install the additional power supply to really bring the speakers alive. They have already made a noticeable difference with the stock head unit. Very satisfied with the results. Great technical support as well. First time I am installing front speakers. It did take some customization, probably couldn't have done this without the guidance of the technical support. Really made the purchase all the more enjoyable.

Pros: Great Technical Support Outstanding speakers for the price, especially when replacing the stock speakers Comes with all the harnesses and mounts necessary to intall

Cons: Some customization is needed. Make use of Technical support if this is your first time installing front speakers.

These speakers were a great fit. I used the speaker mounts from original speakers with very few modifications. The tweeters fit in Stock location but had to mount them to the back of the door panel, so you can't remove the grill like you could with stock speakers. Great. Clean. Sound. Powering them with a Hifonics 1000 watt amp - crisp, clear, and awesome! A+

Pros: Crisp Clear Sound. Minimal modifications.

Cons: None so far

Kicker 40CSS674 6-3/4" Comp. Speakers excellent upgrade for the price

Paul C from Canovanas, PR on 1/29/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my 2003 Isuzu Ascender because my factory front door speakers were going bad on me, one day I was hearing my left speaker and the other day I was not. So I did a little research and decided to buy a pair of Kicker 40CSS674 6-3/4" component speakers from Crutchfield. Once I installed them, man it made a big difference. Deeper bass and crispier sound tweeters, don't get me wrong mines sounded pretty decent when they were new, but after installing these. The sound quality outranked my factory speakers by far. I had installed a DIN JVC KW-NSX1 DVD Receiver from Crutchfield at an excellent price back in May 2013 which is still working like new and like I previously mentioned above, once I installed the kickers component speakers the sound quality improved drastically. I would recommend them to your Trailblazer, Envoy or Isuzu Ascender. My next step would be to install an amp with an sub-woofer for a richer bass.

Pros: These Kickers 40CSS674 6-3/4" component speakers improved the sound quality of my SUV. These are an excelente up-grades at a pretty decent price, yes you may pay a little more, but the quality however on these are excellent and they are very well built.

Cons: You will need to make a mild modification on your factory speaker brackets to fit these in, this modification does not affect the bracket's structural integrity. For me it was a breeze, but again I like to do a lot of things on my own, that's how I am a handy guy. I took about 90 minutes to do the modifications and installing them into my SUV. You may need to have a little basic knowledge on using a router tool, but if you have friend who does better. You will enjoy the sound of these speaker

Awesome Speakers! Can't beat them for the price

Coleman from Pennsylvania on 1/14/2016

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I picked up a set of these for the rear doors in my Grand Cherokee WJ. They fit without modification to the doors or the speakers! The mounting depth does not interfere with the window inside the door either! I went with component speakers to match the front and for the improved sound compared to the factory coaxial speakers. The tweeters had nice covers that protect them well. I cut holes in my doors under the inside handles for the tweeters (though this is not required) I like the look and sound of this mounting configuration. These combined with some Kicker 6x9 component speakers up front has transformed the vehicles sound. The base is much better, as is the rest of the spectrum. Love these speakers!

Pros: Good fitment and exceptional sound!

Cons: Mounting the tweeters when converting a coaxial speaker to component does involve some modification for my vehicle, but I didn't mind. Totally worth it in the end, and I knew this was required prior to buying. You can't beat the sound from component speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These components were installed in place of factory speakers on a 2002 Volvo V70. These speakers perform better than I expected for the price range. The woofer has plenty of punch for its size and construction. The tweeter design is great for those of you who like to drive with windows down or have a poorly dampened cabin. I would highly recommend amplifying these.

Pros: Great construction, pre-tinned stripped speaker wires for easy soldering, and multiple mounting options.

Cons: All of my issues arose due to Volvo's design of the speaker mounts.

Sound much better than the factory speakers they replaced. I was able to use a hole saw to remove the center of the factory tweeter and install the Kicker tweeter in the same location. Wasn't comfortable installing the crossover in the door so I mounted them inside the cab. Speakers came with plenty of wire to permit the relocation.

Pros: Easy installation, great price, sound much better than the factory speakers.

I like clean sound and have no intention of installing aftermarket amplifier to go with my aftermarket stereo. Purchased these speakers for the front and equivalent for the rear - overall sound is definitely more clear at highs, better low range, and a crisper than my factory Toyota speakers.

Pros: Good price, nice quality, definitely a good buy/value for those not using a amplifier

Cons: The crossover box was a bit of annoyance to mount in my door as it took my some time figuring out a suitable location that would not interfere with the window and lock mechanisms.

Trusted brand. Good Product.

Massive upgrade from factory speakers. I have replaced factory speakers in the past but the change wasn't ever this drastic. I have to 12" kenwood subs running through a 300 watt kenwood amp and these speakers are the first to not get covered up by the overbearing base. I'm happy with the money I spent

Pros: handles highs and mids like a champ

Cons: tweeters are extremely crisp, possibly too much for someone who doesn't have subs/lots of road noise

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers replaced a pair of blown factory speakers that came with my used 1998 Chevy Tahoe that I am rebuilding. I chose to use these speakers with the separate tweeters because they were just like what was in the doors originally. Though the tweeters didn't fit the original mounting brackets I still managed to fit them into the same location and the sound from this set is fanominal to say the lease. I couldn't have asked for better even with my old JVC deck. I can only imagine the sound once I install the new Kenwood deck with the Kicker 10 bass and amp in the rear.

Pros: Easy to install, fit existing opening in doors, plenty of cabling to mount the tweeters just about anywhere on the door. Sounds is terrific. What more can you ask for?

Cons: None to date

The shipping was incredibly fast too. I would never look anywhere else to buy audio products due to their amazing customer service department. Keep it up, and keep it loud. Robert

Pros: Crystal clear audio, a lot louder than stock, best sounding speaker I have ever bought

Cons: A little pricey, but not too bad compared to most component speakers.

Neil from Harrisonburg, VA on 2/20/2015

This is my first experience with kicker speakers. I am a die hard polk fan, but I wanted to try something different. I have a yukon xl denali so the interior space is massive! I am running polk components up front and kicker in the rear. The kicker system is extremely bright. The woofers do an adequate job, but the tweeters are extremely bright. It is all about the sound you are looking for however. The quality is absolutely great! Personally I will be installing polk in the rear as well .

Pros: Pre-wired crossover Plug and play Great price

Cons: Tweeters are extremely bright ; cranking the music up seems to pierce the ears.

Very happy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound great at low speeds and low volume. Can hear them and still sound great. They are in a convertible so all the low end response goes literally out the 'windows'. Looking to get a small sub to full the void.

Pros: Quality sound for the cost.

Cons: Lack of instruction for the multi use component 'tweeter' mounts. I felt I had to guess.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound amazing. As is to be expected. The only REAL issue is the box that comes to adjust the tweeters. The idea is great, however, it is a challenge to find a good place to put them where they can still be adjusted, but out of the way. I ended up just having to play with it for a while, and then keep it in the door. To adjust it now I have to take the whole door panel off. But, other than that, the speakers are great.

Pros: Sound Quality

Cons: Space options

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good factory upgrade

Pros: worth the money. Have them powered by mtx 75.4 and they handle the juice really well. The tweaters are loud but can take some punishment.

Cons: midrange is good but depending on the voice its sometimes muddy

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters come with brackets to allow multiple mounting configurations: flush-mounted, angled flush-mounted (approximately 10°), and angled surface-mounted (approximately 15°).

Tweeter Dimensions:

Flush Mount Angled Flush Mount Angled Surface Mount
Mounting Height 0.238" 0.563" 1.272"
Depth 0.532" 0.612" 0.554" (screw depth)

Cutout Diameter 1.57" 1.587" N/A
Frame Width N/A N/A 1.688"
Frame Length N/A N/A 1.897"

Crossovers: The component system includes passive 2-way crossover networks for a seamless transition between the woofers and tweeters. The slope is 12dB per octave (both high pass and low pass) and the crossover point is 4000 Hz. A switch on each crossover allows you to set the tweeter output; 0 dB, +3 dB, or +6 dB. The crossovers' input and output wires are attached; the woofer output has quick slide terminals that connect directly to the woofer and the tweeter output has bullet terminals that mate to the terminals on the tweeter wires. The crossovers' dimensions are:

  • Length: 4.595"
  • Width: 2.463"
  • Height: 1.004"

If you put these at front, rear doors should have 2 way speakers. In my case i hv these front, kicker two way on rear and the 12" subwoofer at back(trunk) [ HARRY VEGA  Aug 18, 2017 ]
I put two way in the rear with two 10" Rockford fosgate subs under rear seat. I do have a amp powering the speakers and sub. This is in a 2015 Tundra double cab. [ Mitch  Aug 18, 2017 ]
I put the 2 ways in the back and they sound just as good. [ NELSON  Aug 18, 2017 ]
For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on how everything fits and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Kenny  Nov 15, 2016 ]  Staff
NO,we did not install an amp. There's 3 settings on the crossover we started on the highest and found it was too much treble. Ultimately we settled on the lowest setting. The speakers certainly could handle more power, but we didn't want to get that involved or spend more money on an auxiliary amp. [ Brilliant Light  Oct 27, 2016 ]
I was persuaded to purchase an amp because the sound would be much better and alive. It is true....big difference with the amp [ Martin  Oct 27, 2016 ]
No you don't need to run an amp but it would sound better if you did. [ BRANDE  Oct 26, 2016 ]
I used a Rockford amp pushing them as well as some polks in the rear. they worked well for me and I have no issues with them. [ KEITH BRIAN  Sep 10, 2016 ]
Tweets require little power too be loud.... I ran my tweets straight to the head unit... Speakers to amp... Not sure if this is right but it sounds fine.... but I never have ran tweets to amp.... I am running two sets in a Hummer... [ james  Apr 13, 2016 ]
next to the Flux capacity. Duh. [ Harlan  Aug 31, 2015 ]
The tweeter mounts inside the end of the exhaust. This is the ideal location because it seconds as a baffle for the exhaust. The reduction of exhaust noise with the added accoustics of having it mounted inside of a metal tube will create the ultimate listening experience. The only other logical solution is to Velcro the tweeter to your forehead. Doing so will ensure the sound is directed Forward and then you will drive into the sound. [ BLACKFLY  Aug 25, 2015 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy  Nov 18, 2014 ]  Staff
A ton... Factory speakers are crap... These speakers are great.... Great buy.... [ james  Apr 13, 2016 ]
My 2000 blazer was night and day but I they were 12 year old speakers I like the mids and highs the kicker components give and with the right songs my mirrors shake without a sub [ JAMES D  Dec 26, 2013 ]
Also depends a lot on your amp. I have 7 these speakers need a good amp to really go [ MICHAEL  Dec 26, 2013 ]
If you have a good spot for your tweeters (upper dash) these will blow up factory system away. But again look at you frequency range. These won't go as low as your factory speakers. They're louder, cleaner, and plays better mid bass. To really complete your system. Run a set of these and a sub. Or in my case 2 sets of these and two l7 [ MICHAEL  Dec 26, 2013 ]
This package contains two woofers, two tweeters, and two crossovers. Feel free to reach out to an Advisor by phone or chat for advise on which speaker set will be best for your vehicle. [ Jeff  Nov 25, 2013 ]  Staff
