It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Bring on the treble and the bass

Kicker's 40CSS674 component speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The separate 3/4" titanium dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. The outboard crossover network allows you to pick from three different tweeter level settings so you'll get balanced sound wherever you're sitting. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Awesome sound. A major step up from the factory speakers.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters come with brackets to allow multiple mounting configurations: flush-mounted, angled flush-mounted (approximately 10°), and angled surface-mounted (approximately 15°).

Tweeter Dimensions:

Flush Mount Angled Flush Mount Angled Surface Mount
Mounting Height 0.238" 0.563" 1.272"

Crossovers: The component system includes passive 2-way crossover networks for a seamless transition between the woofers and tweeters. The slope is 12dB per octave (both high pass and low pass) and the crossover point is 4000 Hz. A switch on each crossover allows you to set the tweeter output; 0 dB, +3 dB, or +6 dB. The crossovers' input and output wires are attached; the woofer output has quick slide terminals that connect directly to the woofer and the tweeter output has bullet terminals that mate to the terminals on the tweeter wires. The crossovers' dimensions are:

  • Length: 4.595"
  • Width: 2.463"

NO,we did not install an amp. There's 3 settings on the crossover we started on the highest and found it was too much treble. Ultimately we settled on the lowest setting. The speakers certainly could handle more power, but we didn't want to get that involved or spend more money on an auxiliary amp. [ Brilliant Light  Oct 27, 2016 ]
I was persuaded to purchase an amp because the sound would be much better and alive. It is true....big difference with the amp [ Martin  Oct 27, 2016 ]
No you don't need to run an amp but it would sound better if you did. [ BRANDE  Oct 26, 2016 ]
I used a Rockford amp pushing them as well as some polks in the rear. they worked well for me and I have no issues with them. [ KEITH BRIAN  Sep 10, 2016 ]
Tweets require little power too be loud.... I ran my tweets straight to the head unit... Speakers to amp... Not sure if this is right but it sounds fine.... but I never have ran tweets to amp.... I am running two sets in a Hummer... [ james  Apr 13, 2016 ]
next to the Flux capacity. Duh. [ Harlan  Aug 31, 2015 ]
The tweeter mounts inside the end of the exhaust. This is the ideal location because it seconds as a baffle for the exhaust. The reduction of exhaust noise with the added accoustics of having it mounted inside of a metal tube will create the ultimate listening experience. The only other logical solution is to Velcro the tweeter to your forehead. Doing so will ensure the sound is directed Forward and then you will drive into the sound. [ BLACKFLY  Aug 25, 2015 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy  Nov 18, 2014 ]  Staff
A ton... Factory speakers are crap... These speakers are great.... Great buy.... [ james  Apr 13, 2016 ]
My 2000 blazer was night and day but I they were 12 year old speakers I like the mids and highs the kicker components give and with the right songs my mirrors shake without a sub [ JAMES D  Dec 26, 2013 ]
Also depends a lot on your amp. I have 7 these speakers need a good amp to really go [ MICHAEL  Dec 26, 2013 ]
If you have a good spot for your tweeters (upper dash) these will blow up factory system away. But again look at you frequency range. These won't go as low as your factory speakers. They're louder, cleaner, and plays better mid bass. To really complete your system. Run a set of these and a sub. Or in my case 2 sets of these and two l7 [ MICHAEL  Dec 26, 2013 ]
This package contains two woofers, two tweeters, and two crossovers. Feel free to reach out to an Advisor by phone or chat for advise on which speaker set will be best for your vehicle. [ Jeff  Nov 25, 2013 ]  Staff
