6"x9" component speaker system
Our take on the Kicker 40CSS694 by Crutchfield's John Pollard
It's time for an upgrade
Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.
Bring on the treble and the bass
Kicker's 40CSS694 component speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6"x9" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The separate 3/4" titanium dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. The outboard crossover network allows you to pick from three different tweeter level settings so you'll get balanced sound wherever you're sitting. Grilles are included.
Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.
Great sound for the price

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.
Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.
Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters come with brackets to allow multiple mounting configurations: flush-mounted, angled flush-mounted (approximately 10°), and angled surface-mounted (approximately 15°).
|Flush Mount||Angled Flush Mount||Angled Surface Mount|
|Depth||0.532"||0.612"||0.554" (screw depth)|
Crossovers: The component system includes passive 2-way crossover networks for a seamless transition between the woofers and tweeters. The slope is 12dB per octave (both high pass and low pass) and the crossover point is 4000 Hz. A switch on each crossover allows you to set the tweeter output; 0 dB, +3 dB, or +6 dB. The crossovers' input and output wires are attached; the woofer output has quick slide terminals that connect directly to the woofer and the tweeter output has bullet terminals that mate to the terminals on the tweeter wires. The crossovers' dimensions are:
- Length: 4.595"
- Width: 2.463"
- Height: 1.004"

4 questions already asked
Thanks for your question. The manufacturer lists them at 2-150 watts RMS (450 watts peak power). You can find more information on the main product page under "Product Highlights". Hope this helps. [ Kenny Dec 09, 2016 ] Staff
If you've ever listened to a Sonos Play:3 speaker, that's about how much bas you get out of it. Enough for someone who wants their car to sound GREAT over stock, but if you're looking for bass you can really feel, you will need a sub. When I got these I was looking for just enough low end to listen to house music and hiphop and it did just that. [ Marvin Dec 23, 2016 ]
I replaced the Toyota stock door and dash speakers in my FJ Cruiser with this set-up. This truck came with a sub included in an eleven speaker package. Crutchfield representatives said the woofer was okay and recommended that I only replace these four speakers so I could "hear" the music better. They were right! During installation, I was astounded about the difference in speaker magnet size, stock to Kicker. The result: bass was enhanced as were the highs and mid-range notes. The cross-overs must have helped separate the frequencies. Overall. I was quite pleased by the listening improvement and very satisfied with Crutchfield's professional support, as always. [ Stephen Nov 08, 2016 ]
If your not running a amp the 6×9 will help, however I recommend 8" subs. BIG difference on the low end. [ Walter Nov 07, 2016 ]
They will not give you very much bass. I would put in an 8 or a 10 depending on how much bass you are looking for. I put an 8 under my front seat and it was all I needed. [ Mark Nov 06, 2016 ]
1 answer My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is equipped with some sort of a 6x9 mid/woofer, mounted low on the door, and a tweeter up at the top. Of course, the wiring is already present, and I would assume, some sort of crossover is already present in the OE head unit. If I were to install this Kicker component system, would I have to use the Kicker x-over, or cut the wires from it, and use the vehicle's wiring to feed the tweeters? [ L Aug 24, 2015 ]
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Krissy Aug 25, 2015 ] Staff
1 answer I have an 05 g6 With a moonsoon system. Two of my speakers are out and would like to replace all 4. These are ok and they have the same ones for front i would like the components like the originals but i think the sound system is a 2 ohm The question would b can i use these with out sounding bad or poping the speakers? Or would i need an extra resistor or sum? Thanks [ Jose Dec 23, 2013 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff Dec 23, 2013 ] Staff
