Kicker technology at work

Kicker's 40CWS104 10" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Easy to add to nearly any setup

This sub handles up to 300 watts RMS to bring out the depth your music's been missing, and its 4-ohm impedance makes it compatible with just about every amplifier on the market. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures, and it's even suitable for free-air applications.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Great Sub

HG from Texas on 7/20/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sub, loud and clear, pretty sturdy, and good looking. Great Price and great value. I am using it on a 3 comportment sealed enclosure 1 for the sub, and one for each of the kicker 6x9. The sub is pair on a bridged Kicker DXA125.2, and produces enough bass to match the 2 - 6x9 correctly. Clean sound!

Pros: Great sound, clear, great quality.

Cons: none so far

Solid Thump!

KEn from Mansfield, TX on 3/28/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Absolutely no complaints about these speakers. Recommended minimum sealed enclosure was 1 cft. I couldn't quite get there with the space I had under the back seat of my Dodge Ram. Got to .75 cft and filled the enclosure with poly stuffing. Placed two of these in parallel and powered them with the Kicker CX600.1. Once I got the crossover set correctly I got exactly what I was expecting. Good solid crisp thump!

Pros: Good solid thump for the price. Minimal distortion even with the receiver at max volume once the boost and gain are set correctly.

Cons: None

Big bang for the buck!

Joe from Palenville, NY on 8/8/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Going from a 12" Xplod in an enclosure to 2 of these mounted open air into a sheet of plywood in the space behind my back seats (my seats fold down to give access from the trunk). The difference is night and day. I finally have as much bass as I want!

Pros: Inexpensive, solid build, comes with crimp connectors, two sets of positive and negative terminals for easy wiring in parallel

Cons: None

Great boom for the buck

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my daughters impala. One single sub gives off a great sound without being to obnoxious. If I had it in a box with the correct dimensions Id imagine it would sound even better.

Pros: Great bass for music without being overly deep.

Cons: None

Sounds good

Subwoofer Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Subwoofer Features

Ribbed Surround: The optimized ribbed polyurethane helps eliminate flex and distortion.

Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The durable Spiralead tinsel leads are woven into the woofer's spider, for added strength and reliability.

Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The steel basket's vented pole piece and Kicker's Quad Venting slots contribute to the woofers' efficient cooling and durability.

Speaker Terminals: Each speaker terminal has two 0.25" push-on terminals (crimp-on quick slides included).

Enclosure Compatibility

Enclosure Versatility: The Kicker Comp subwoofer is versatile, performing well in vented or sealed enclosures, and in free-air applications.

Sealed Enclosures: A sealed enclosure design offers the smoothest response, with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 20 to 30 Hz).

  • Minimum enclosure volume: 1.0 ft³
  • Maximum enclosure volume: 2.4 ft³

Ported Enclosures: A ported (vented) enclosure design is typically more efficient than a sealed enclosure.

  • Minimum enclosure volume: 1.25 ft³ with a 1.5" x 10.5" slot port opening that is 14.5" deep
  • Maximum enclosure volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 1.5" x 10.5" slot port opening that is 13.25" deep

Infinite Baffle Mounting: The Kicker Comp subwoofers are also designed to be used as free-air drivers. The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the trunk of a sedan as the enclosure.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your sub I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. this is a singe 4 ohm coil. [ HECTOR  Apr 15, 2016 ]
I believe it is a single coil. Awesome bass, even with only 300 watts driving 2 of them. Should really step up to 500 or 600 watts if you run two of these. [ ALDO  Apr 15, 2016 ]
