Want big bass? Look at our SubwoofersA tricked out system calls for a kickin' amp, and nothing fits the bill like a KX series amplifier from Kicker! These high-end amps set the standard for clean, steady sound with MOSFET power supplies and Class D design for cool, efficient operation. And the futuristic cosmetics will definitely set your installation apart from the crowd.

Love bass? Let the powerful KX400.1 subwoofer amp drive your music with 200 watts of RMS power at 4 ohms (400 watts at 2 ohms). And you can trust that the CEA-2006 compliant ratings are a true measure of the amp's capabilities. Don't worry about reliability; the Class D design draws less current and produces less heat than a traditional amp.

Customize the sound to fit your sub, its enclosure, and the acoustics of your vehicle with the built-in variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 12 dB per octave) and the defeatable subsonic filter. Use the 0-18 dB KickBass boost to dial in the exact amount of low-end bump you need — the included wired remote even lets you make adjustments on the fly!

Product Highlights:

  • 200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
  • variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 12 dB per octave)
  • variable bass boost with wired remote (0-18 dB at 40 Hz)
  • switchable subsonic filter (12 dB/octave at 25 Hz)

I ordered this amp to power a Kicker Solo Baric 10" L5 (2ohm) mounted in Kickers truck box. I have to say that this combination meets my needs exactly. I like a nice tight bass that has punch to it, and will also rumble right along with Pink Floyd. I don't know how this combination would work out for rap listeners, but it sure fills the bill for this middle age rock and blues man. I have the truck box installed behind the rear seat in my SUV and it takes up less room than the Infinity basslink that I replaced. BTW- Crutchfield has the best customer service that I have had the pleasure of dealing with.Even if their price happens to be higher on an item, they still get my buisness. You can order from them and relax. You'll be taken care of if you have a problem.Shipping is great also, ordered this on a monday afternoon, and had it in my hands on wednesday.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Class D Mono Amplifier: The Class D design of the Kicker KX400.1 amplifier allows it to deliver massive power without big current draw. Class D amplifiers are very efficient, converting voltage to output power without generating a lot of heat.

EndKaps: The amplifier features two removable, cast aluminum EndKaps that are mounted to each end of the amplifier. These EndKaps protect and hide all of the wiring connections to the amplifier, and must be removed before the amp is mounted. The EndKaps can be prepped and painted any custom color you choose. They are mounted to the amp with 4 Allen-head screws (3mm Allen wrench supplied).

Top-mounted Controls: The KX400.1 features three rotary controls on the top panel: input gain control, bass boost control and crossover frequency control. These controls can be easily accessed, even with the EndKaps installed.

Variable Low-Pass Filter: The amp is equipped with a full-time variable low-pass filter which prevents unwanted high frequencies from reaching your woofers. The cutoff frequency is continuously variable from 50 to 200Hz with a 12dB/octave slope.

Subsonic Filter: The amplifier features a 25Hz subsonic filter which eliminates the very low inaudible frequencies which can damage speakers and rob power. The subsonic filter has a 12dB/octave slope, and can be turned on or off with a switch on the side of the amp.

KickBass Bass Boost: The KickBass bass boost circuit provides up to 18dB signal boost at 40Hz.

Remote Bass Level Control: The dash-mounted remote unit allows you to adjust the output level of the amplifier. A 19.25' cable is included to allow you to control a trunk-mounted amp from the front of the vehicle. Dimensions: W=2.2", H=1.186", D=1.736" (2.114" including the knob).

Strapping: Two KX400.1 amplifiers can be connected or "strapped" together to drive one woofer. The amps are connected together with the supplied strapping cables ("mono-mini" cables), and output double their rated power (in this case, 400 watts RMS each). The speaker's impedance for this application should be 4 ohms. Note: You can only strap two of the same model amps together.

SORT Protection Circuitry: The SORT (Short circuit, Over-voltage, Reverse polarity, Thermal) protection circuitry guards against accidents and undesired operation. If the red Protection LED illuminates, SORT protection has been engaged and the amplifier is in protect mode until the problem is resolved.

Kicker "Living Loud" Certified Power Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that indicates the total maximum wattage of your specific amplifier, along with the model number, serial number, tested date, and whether the amplifier passed the total harmonic distortion, signal-to-noise ratio, and protection circuit tests. In most cases, the amplifier's certified power output surpasses the rated power.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Gold-plated Connectors: The KX400.1 uses custom-tooled, gold-plated connectors to assure maximum power transfer and damping.

Set-Screw Terminals: The power and ground set-screw terminals can accept up to 4-gauge bare wire. The speaker output set-screw terminals can accept up to 8-gauge bare wire. The remote turn-on set-screw terminal can accept up to 12-gauge wire. A 3mm Allen wrench is provided to tighten/loosen the set screws.

Speaker-level Inputs: High-level input connections are included to allow use with a factory radio or other receiver without RCA preamp outputs. A 12" speaker-level input harness with a 4-pin Molex plug on one end is provided. The receiver's speaker wires will need to be spliced to the bare wires on the speaker-level input harness.

PAST Line Outputs: The PAST (Pre-Amp Signal Transfer) line outputs allow you to pass a full-range preamp-level signal from this amplifier to another amplifier. This eliminates the need to use RCA splitter cords to distribute signals to two amplifiers. Note: A signal is output from the PAST Line Out jacks regardless of whether the line-level or speaker-level inputs are used.

Power Output (at 1.5% THD+N):

  • Input Voltage at 14.4 Volts:
    • 200 watts RMS into 4 ohms
    • 400 watts RMS into 2 ohms
  • Input Voltage at 12.5 Volts:
    • 170 watts RMS into 4 ohms
    • 240 watts RMS into 2 ohms

  • Without EndKaps: Width=9.375", Height=2.332", Depth=9.513"
  • With EndKaps: Width=12.75", Height=2.499", Depth=9.919"
