If you've ever wanted a sub with outstanding power handling that can fit in your vehicle's tight spots, check out Kicker's CompVT line. These extra-shallow bass bangers require less room than ordinary subs without sacrificing sound quality or bass impact.

Kicker's 07CVT102 10" sub handles up to a hefty 400 watts RMS, while requiring less than 4-1/2 inches of mounting depth. The rigid, injection-molded polypropylene cone throws down some serious thump, while the ribbed Santoprene™ rubber surround helps control cone movement for accurate response.

This 10" sub's 2-ohm impedance gets more power out of your mono amplifier. It'll work in a sealed or vented enclosure, and its slim profile gives you more installation options in your car or truck.

A unique design lets you mount the CompVT sub directly against the back wall of an enclosure, while perimeter venting on the stamped-steel basket keeps the sub cool under pressure. Pick up a pre-made enclosure or get creative with your own custom box — you'll find Kicker CompVT subs deliver the trademark Kicker bass experience in a slimmer, yet full-bodied package.

Note: Make sure that your amp is compatible with this 2-ohm sub. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation. Most mono amps are stable down to 2 ohms.

Man, this sub really hits. I was worried at first, because it was a 10. But when I got it and hooked it up to a kicker amp it blew me away. I put it under the seats of my F-150 supercab in a box. I wasn't disapointed at all. If your lookin for something to rattle your mirrors this is it.

Caution these subs are very thirsty for power so don't go cheap on your amp. I have these in my 2006 F-350 behind the rear seat in a sealed box, hooked up to a Kenwood KAC-9104D amp. And I will say that they are the cleanest hardest hitting subs I have ever owned. I was nervous at first because they were so shallow that they wouldn't be able to hit hard; boy was I wrong! I have my amp turned almost all the way up and there is not one bit of distortion just hard hitting bass. Another warning if you are using test tones to adjust your gains and crossover remember to wear ear protection they can handle the tones your ears cannot. Reviews are what helped me choose these over any other sub, that is why I am taking the time to put my own review to help others make educated choices. I listen to rock mostly but they do just fine with deep bass from R&B/Rap. What you will end up doing is upgrading all of the other speakers and amps in your car to match the volume of these subs.

Best shallow subs on the market...PERIOD!!!

KiLaHuRtZ from Essexville, MI on 4/24/2009

I have had two of these subs (07CVT104 = '4-ohm model') for just shy of a year now which are installed in my 2008 extended cab Silverado. They are powered by a Kenwood KAC-X1R which is suppling them with a healthy dose of 600W RMS per sub, 150% their rated value! The box I have fits under the back seat and thus being sealed plus having the advantage of down firing (aka, "loading wall via the floor") I can over drive the heck out of 'em! This combo is perfect for rock, metal, anything with a good solid tight kick. Even rap sounds great, minus the sound of sheet metal vibrating off your vehicle. So far, I have been the envy of all that hear this setup to which I get the question asked, "How do you get such a tight smooth crisp sound with out all the rattling like other systems?" My answer, "When you have a quality sub, quality amp, well built box, and most important; you know how to dial an amp in, this is the result. BUY THESE SUBS!!! You will not be disappointed!

Kicker always amazing!

Jose from Chicago, IL on 4/5/2009

I bought 2 10"s for my 08 F150 KR, built my own box and they bang!! I was skeptical at first because I was not sure if they were going to work in such a shallow place but Kicker amazed me yet again. Even though I kept my stock head unit, it still picked up the subs pretty good. Kicker is a reliable product!

WOW. Kicker is the right name for this sub. I needed to replace my factory sub on my Acura MDX. Crutchfield's sales were a huge help and suggested this one. I am not an audio techie. I just like a great sound and this sub delivers in a big way!!!!

I had two 10w6v2's in my 2004 regular cab f-150 in a ported box hooked up to a JL 500/1. Well, I bought a 2006 crew cab Z-71. Not wanting to alter the trucks interior to drastically as in removing the rear seat I opted to go with a model specific subwoofer box for behind the rear seat. After searching through my resources I chose an unloaded Pro-Box. Then I scanned through crutchfields web sight looking at the specs and reviews on subwoofers with less than a 5" mounting depth. These kickers have the most power handling one of the highest X-max and a frequency response down to 25hz so I went with them. The pro- Box is a sealed .75 per side and the speakers with the kicker grills look great in the box. Wired in a series to 4ohm's hooked up to my 500/1 they sound great after about a week and a half of break in and fine tuning. These are really good Sub's !

These things are awesome! I bought just one, and put it in a down firing pro box, in my 2001 Ford F-150. And its the STUFF man, it gives off deep bass, and to really make it hit just turn up your bass boast. Love Kicker. Will by again

These subs are awsome. I have one of these in a sealed down firing enclosure in my 2006 F150 SCrew. This one 10" sub puts out way more bass that I would ever need.

I listen to Alternative, heavy metal, and sometimes some jungle. This sub will give your system a nice allaround sound. And if you want to shake your truck to pieces, just turn up your bass boost a little.

If you buy these you will not be sorry!

kickin' kickers!

Sean from Lusby, MD on 5/2/2007

I bought 2 of these subs and not only do they thump, but they both fit behind the seat in my regular cab Dakota. I have them wired into a California 1200 amp (which is bridged) and they have more than enough power and the sound they produce is amamzing! Being so slim, and the box being sealed, they do not boom, they hit and thump. So me being such a huge rock fan, and occasionally listening to rap, these subs more than suit my needs.

Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Cone: The cone is a modified spoke cone design so the CVT series woofers are much more shallow than their standard CVR counterparts. The CVR10 is approximately 1.25" deeper than the CVT10. The ultra high performance injection molded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with 360° back bracing.

Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Basket and Motor Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting relieves pressure under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.

Tinsel Leads: CVT subwoofers use Spiralead tinsel-lead technology, which allows the ideal amount of flex for better strength and durability. The tinsel lead wires are woven into the spider to relieve mechanical stress.

Speaker Terminals: The spring loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 8 gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Marine Ready: This woofer is made with a powder coated, weather resistant basket and stainless steel hardware, so it can be used in marine and mobile applications.

Enclosure Compatibility

Depth: Kicker's new CVT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit. The vent-less, solid-pole design allows the woofer to be mounted directly against the rear wall of a sealed or vented enclosure. The spring-loaded binding posts are mounted parallel to the cone surface to minimize depth. Also the steel Clearance Adapter Plate enables you to cut out part of the back of the enclosure to create more room for the woofer magnet, subtracting the enclosure wall depth from the equation.

Power Handling: The power handling specifications differ according to the type and size of the enclosure.

Recommended Sealed Box Volume:

 • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.8 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 400 watts RMS (200 watts per voice coil)
 • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 300 watts RMS (150 watts per voice coil)

Recommended Vented Box Volume:

 • Compact: 1.25 cu/ft; 2" x 10.5" port opening; 20" port depth; the woofer can handle up to 200 watts RMS (100 watts per voice coil)
 • SPL/Deep Bass: 1.75 cu/ft; 2.5" x 10.5" port opening; 20" port depth; the woofer can handle up to 200 watts RMS (100 watts per voice coil)

Note: The power handling specifications listed with the vented enclosure recommendations apply only when a 25Hz, 24dB/octave subsonic filter (sold separately) is used with this woofer. If a subsonic filter is not used, power handling may decrease, excessive port noise can occur, and the life of the woofer may be shortened.
