No sense in dancing around it — if you're looking for an affordable upgrade from factory sound, Kicker's CS Series is one of the most popular choices. These tough, dependable car speakers have a devoted following and for good reason. You'll get classic Kicker quality that will elevate your music to a startling level, revealing more detail than you ever heard from your factory speakers.

Solid through and through

Kicker's 43CSC654 speakers feature a 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer that delivers a full sound with the help of a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter adds crisp instrumental and vocal detail. You'll get good results powering these speakers with a factory radio or an aftermarket car stereo, but they'll knock your socks off when you drive them with an external amplifier. Grilles are included.

  • 2-way 6-1/2" speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer cone with polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" polyetherimide (PEI) balanced dome tweeter
  • handles up to 100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 40-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-13/16"
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Rasie db's In Head Unit

Paul from Pico Rivera, CA on 4/28/2018

2012 Mazda 2

Come on Guys these speakers are Awesome! The key to making these speakers sing loud and clear is to raise the db's in your head unit!!! Remember these speakers are power hungry. Most after market head units have plenty and you will probably won't require a Amplifier and if you want one that's great too! However, Forget the basic manufacture default db settings at -4 or -2 that makes is sound tinny or thin. Raise the db's to at least +3 or +5 adjust from there!

Pros: Good Bass!

Cons: Basic settings in your head unit might produce poor sound! its not the speaker its the settings.

Quality products and amazing customer service.

The Speakers are great. They installed easily I just wish I would have known the front speakers in my truck were 6x9. I would have spent the extra money and bought 1 pair of these and one pair of 6x9's.

Pros: Sound is great. So much better then stock.

Cons: Need a bit more base. I think if I would have known the fronts could fit a 6x9 this would have been different. Not really a con.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed these speakers, so it is too early to tell how they will hold up, but so far sound good. I previously had the Polk db651s, but both of the 6.5" pair failed after the surrounding foam around the woofer cone came apart after the winter. They didn't make it a year before failing. Keeping my fingers crossed that these do better.

Pros:

Cons:

Great sound for a decent price.

Facil from San Antonio, TX on 4/6/2018

2016 Subaru WRX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was fun. I haven't done this in 25 years, so it took me a bit longer to understand why some of the screws to mount the speaker to the bracket were so long that they didn't allow the assembly to be mounted to the door. I had to drill a few holes in the door to allow those screws to pass through and I was easily able to secure the assembly to the door. Also, the mounting brackets need gaps to keep the wires from being crimped between the assembly and door. The original connections mount to the bracket directly and are the perfect length, so next upgrade I'll require things through the interior of the door and make it pretty again. All in all, they sound louder and more full than the extremely cheap speakers my car came with. I'm happy and I got to play with my car electronics a little.

Pros: -Sound quality obvious compared to originals -simple enough to install -price is worth it

Cons: None. Take your time installing and be sure to check the functionality of everything before you button it all back up. I forgot to connect the door lock/latch. Fun times.

Under-whelming.

John from Seguin, TX on 4/5/2018

2018 Ford F-150 XLT
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these as recommended by Crutchfield to replace brand new factory rear speakers in my 2018 F150. The hope was that they would be a little louder and better quality to bring some of the music from behind me. Right now, all of the music/sound comes from the dash area. There are five speakers in front doors and dash, and only two 6.5's" in the rear doors. These are a much better quality speaker than factory, sound clearer, and can handle a higher volume without distortion, but are not as loud as the factory's were. They sound kind of under-powered, but the description said they would be good off of the factory head unit. So, I got half of what I was looking for. The included wiring harness and mounting brackets were a huge help, shipping was fast and instructions specific to my make and model made the job as easy as it can get. Knowing what I know now, I would have gone with a higher end speaker, or just waited until the factory speakers started to fail.

Pros: Easy install, and nice quality components.

Cons: Not as strong as factory units.

Great economy 6 and halfs. The have decent bass response as installed in my application, overall I'm happy. These are exactly what I'd expect from an entry level speaker and are a great choice.

Pros: Decent performance from a entry level speaker. I'd buy these again.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm hoping someone can help me, but I just installed 4 of these in my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK - sound bar and dash locations. I have no idea why, but they sound WORSE than the factory speakers, by far. They distort at almost any volume, and the bass has to be cut almost all the way out. I am using the factory head unit with the GPS (430, I think) and no other upgrades. I can't believe they sound this bad, but if i cant fix i will return.

Were purchased to replace original speakers in our Acura RDX. So while there would be a loss in volume for our model (which there is), the overall performance is better than before. There is more clarity in high tones and no noise at louder volumes. And quite sturdy too! With the usual top line Crutchfield support materials, it was easy to get these in and going.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these to replace the crappy stock speakers in my sister's 2017 wrx base model with non-premium sound system. These sound way better than the stocks. Mids are clear and highs are crisp. I would only recommend these if you are planning to install subwoofers like we did as well. The lows are not very good...at least with the stock head unit and no dedicated amp, but thats where the subs took over. If you are looking for door speakers with good bass, these are not for you. I would probably recommend looking for mid range speakers and not 2-way speakers (at least in this price range). For the price, very good upgrade from stock.

Pros: Great Price, Good Quality, Excellent upgrade from stock (non-premium) wrx speakers

Cons: Bass/Lows are very faint, These are not for sound systems without subs

Night and day compared to stock Jeep speakers. Took some modification (used Dremel sander on roll bar sound pods and cut mounting tabs off speakers) but ended up with nice snug fit. 5.25's would install easier; but love the result with matching Kicker 6x4 in front dash.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My son and I got these Kicker speakers to replace the factory speakers and to go along with the new Pioneer stereo in his 2003 GMC Envoy. At the time we didn't realize that the factory 2 way Speakers were actually two separate speakers. We just removed the 6 1/2" speaker, left the old tweeter in the door and drilled a small hole to run the adaptive connector supplied by Crutchfield and were done. The speakers did not sound very rich to me at first, but my son must have broken them in. They sound really nice now and he loves them.

Pros: Nice sound. Easy install. Economical. Can add an amp later if he wants.

I purchased 4 of these speakers for my 02 Durango. The installation was a breeze, only had to trim 2 of the mounting collars. Now the speakers sound great, all except 1. 3 of them are just what I was looking for, great sound, works perfectly with my new Kenwood kmm-BT318U deck The bass is just right for the mostly classic rock & roll I listen to. They are perfect. Now one speaker sounds like I am playing an old lp. it snaps and pops at a lower volume. This started 3-4 days after I installed them. But when I crank it up it will stop. I am not going to drop any stars for it, I hope tech support can help me out.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are a huge improvement over 20yr old blown stock. But that doesn't say much. Easy fit but had to drill new 1/8" holes on the overhead console, for speakers and grills. (Easy, it's fiberglass, same on door) If you can't handle that, step away from the vehicle. For the $, these are fantastic. It's a 2 way so don't expect amazing contest winning audio. Do expect to be really happy for cheap. Quality construction/materials, will last a long time. Very punchy mids with good highs. Not deep bass, get a sub for that. Mounted in Jeep XJ rear overhead and also front doors. Crutchfield says 5.25" for fronts. However, these fit 110% w/o mods other than a few 1/8" holes. Plug n play with included Metra wire adapters in awesome.

Pros: Cheap, known brand, quality 2 way sound, punchy lows. Sturdy grills. Efficient ohm. Sound really good. Nice grill, hardware included.

Cons: Not for deep bass, but kinda expected at price point, size. No distortion. A rubber gasket would be great for when mounting the basket on metal doors etc. U used some silicone on the edge to isolate and seal.

I've been trying for two months to get good sound from these speakers and it just isn't going to happen. The highs are descent but the mids an lows are muddy. Actually they are worse than muddy. These are the worst speakers I have ever owned. I have had good experiences with Kciker in the past, but definitely not this time.

Pros: none really. Maybe the highs?

Cons: The mids and lows are just aweful.

I've not yet put my amp ton theses. As of now. They are ran off head unit which lacks Pwr but they still sound decent. They are decently bright, great punchy bass but lack a little low end. The subs will pick that up for sure. Only reason for four stars is due to the fact that I wish they were built a little better and had a bigger magnet. So far so good. I give crutch field 5 stars. I had a small issue and they jumped right on it and had my new set out to me very quick. Great job guys. Customer service a 10

I made my purchase based on the very knowledgeable Crutchfield chat support representative's recommendation. I installed Kicker 43CSC654 6.5" coaxial speakers in the rear side panels along with Kicker 43CSS68 6x8 front door speakers with component tweeters in the front doors. In order to get the necessary power to my new speakers I installed a Sound Ordnance M-4050 200W amplifier. My new system sounds awesome and is a huge upgrade to my 1999 Mustang Cobra convertible. The sound quality is a night and day improvement over the factory Mach 460 system. Crutchfield also recommended their high quality Crutchfield brand speaker wire and amplifier installation kit. It was an easy installation and has revitalized my driving experience! Thanks again Crutchfield!

Pros: Great sound and easy installation.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Performed exactly as expected. The Crutchfield guide stated this would fit my Lexus SC430, which to me sounded like a direct plug and play replacement. This was not the case due to the size of the magnet on the Kicker speaker. I had to build a 3/4" shim from MDF and fill in some open space around the speaker/sheet metal with thick foam weatherstripping. Not much of a challenge and it all worked out in the end. Added about an hour to the installation.

Pros: Sounds great

Cons: Extra time for installation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I talked to a sales person about my situation and the kicker item #206DSC6704, he suggested this speaker because it was only $6 more on sale and I would be happier. well turned out to have great sound but the volume is far lower than with the gm counter part. A week later I went to reorder this speaker for the front doors and saw that the price jumped $15, not on sale anymore. So for the second time I ordered the item #206DSC6704, then I decided to mount this speaker in the rear doors and this more expensive speaker in the front doors since I don't like a lot of volume in the front speakers. these speakers mount Item #142SMH634B will fit all four doors, with the same mount as the gm does. but the Item #142SAC656 mount that comes with this speaker doesn't work with #206DSC6704 speaker, so these were mounted directly onto the metal door.

Purchased these to replace factory speakers in a 2004 Dodge Dakota. The installation process was fairly straightforward. I did have to trim the mounting brackets slightly for them to fit into the existing housing. I also did not need the trim tools that came recommended. Compared to the factory speakers, they have a much brighter sound. Adjusted the eq to provide a more bass & a more balanced sound. Sound great, especially for the price.

Great sounding replacement for factory location in rear door. I was able to mount these with some slight modification to the factory speaker mounts and not use any adapter. Used these in conjunction with 43CSS674 6 3/4" Kicker components in the front and couldn't be more pleased. They have clear highs and good midrange blended very well with the Kicker component speakers, but don't expect any real lows from them. They get lower than the less than worthless Kenwood's I tried in that location and I did also install XTC baffles behind them which seemed to improve their bass a little, but you can't have any real expectations of bass from a 6 1/2" speaker. They do a very good job doing what I purchased them for...expanding the "soundstage" to the rear and providing the "fill". Another great Kicker speaker for the money!!!

These were a great upgrade from the factory speakers. The magnets size difference from stock was huge. I would describe the sound as much more polished and smoother throughout the volume range. While not really louder than stock they sound far better at increased volumes. For me this was the phase one of the audio upfit and the subwoofer package will follow and it will likely be the Kicker unit that's custom fit for my F150 Crew Cab. I feel that with these speakers I am ready to tackle the second phase as funds allow.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was very disappointed with these speakers. Installed behind blapunkt San Antonio 640. Purchased to replace functional factory infinity speakers in search of more volume and better sound. I use Radiohead Kid A for testing due to extreme range on this album, if it sounds good and can handle this album it can take anything. Well when the bass hits on "morning bell" these bottomed out. Now this was with the exact settings that the factory speakers handled fine. So I changed the settings and finally installed bass blockers and got them to function. But they don't sound as good as the factory's original. What is more I did not receive the harness adapters for these as well as four others for another project on my wife's crv. Very disappointed Crutchfield, I know they would "fix" this but I don't have time do-overs,.

Pros: They look cool. Sound good at low volumes.

Cons: They do not handle the claimed watts

I purchased four of these speakers and placed one in each door. The installation was super easy, thanks to the instructions that were provided and reverse engineering the removal of the factory speakers. So far the speakers have worked perfectly and sound great with the radio and cds. I used an "aux" cord to connect an ipod to the factory head unit and the music seems a little thin, which I assume could be due to the compression rate that the song were uploaded to the ipod at. These speakers have great mids and highs, but wont provide the thump that hip hops listeners would want, so I would suggest adding a sub, if that is what you listen to.

Harsh midrange requires EQ to tame

Shawn from Northern California on 3/24/2017

2016 Ford Fiesta
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are *very* harsh sounding in the range of (about) 1 KHz to 2 KHz. At those frequencies, they sound like they have sand in them, particularly with live music or albums that are recorded loud (like Matthew Sweet's "100% Fun") . I went through the normal checks of looking at wires, connections, grounding, etc. I even tried different amps, but I think it's just how the speakers sound. Using an EQ to lower the levels by 2 db or 3 db in the range of 1 KHz to 2 KHz makes the speakers tolerable; otherwise, even at moderate volumes, they give me a headache.

Pros: Nice, heavy magnets

Cons: Harsh, staticky midrange

Put these in my 2014 wrangler sound bar. Highs were very crisp but the bass is terrible even with the head unit bass set at -4 there was a lot of distortion. The factory speakers are better balanced over all and I put them back in and returned these. I don't feel these are even close to worth the money.

Pros: Nice highs

Cons: terrible mids and bass

Fit perfectly! -15 minute job.

Got these for my 2014 Wrangler Unlimited and installed in the sound bar. The highs are nice but the bass is pure distortion. I didn't waste my time installing the dash speakers the ones in the sound bar were so bad. Also the brackets required to make them fit keep the factory grills from sitting flush. If you have a wrangler don't waste your time on these!

Pros:

Cons: Factory speakers actually sound better

Clean mids, use an amp

John from Milwaukee, WI on 11/3/2016

2010 Subaru Legacy
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed them in my 2010 Subaru legacy. Had them connected to my factory deck for a few days until i installed my kicker zx700.5 to them. If you are looking for better sound from just the factory deck, forget it. The 10 watt deck will not give efficient lows to the kicker speakers as they do with the small magnet factory speakers. I compared both and felt the factory matched speakers and deck should be left without an amp. If you do install an amp, they are loud. The highs are just a bit pingy, but the mids are clear and tight. The lows are not there, so adding a sub will give the total package. I use a dual voice coil bazooka from the 5th channel of the kicker amp running in parallel at 2 ohms. Otherwise, without this, there is more low bass from the factory speakers. All in all, for the price, I am happy using these as a strict mid to high range speaker. The speaker adapter they gave for the Subaru is useless. After several attempts, and deciding to keep these over the factory, the best fit I found was destroying the factory speakers. I took my oscillating saw and cut out the factory diaphragm and removed it along with the magnet. I then went around the housing about a 1/2 inch with the saw again. I placed the kicker speaker on the housing and drilled four holes in it to mount the speaker. I cut 2 of the screws down so they didn't interfere with the door.

Pros: Great price, great mid range sound. Can easily handle an amp.

Cons: Deep lows not there, factory lows were more prominent. Would not use without an amp.

What can I say. I had a stock system in my 99 accord coupe. Bought these speakers and a Kenwood KDC-125U stereo for a nice total (free shipping, harnesses, stereo kit) and I couldn't be happier with the way it sounds! Miles better than what it sounded like before. Perfect for what I was looking for, something with improved sound and clarity but not deafening. Not an audio guy myself but I installed everything with the help of the installation instructions. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Sound, clarity, bass, price

Cons: None that I can think of.

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CSC-series speakers feature polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to moisture and the temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Balanced-Dome Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 1/2" PEI (polyetherimide) balanced-dome tweeter. A balanced dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone, with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome sections.

Mounting: In addition to fitting standard 6-1/2 and 4-hole 6-1/2 applications, the CSC65 also has a standard 6-3/4 bolt pattern. However, if mounted in a 6-3/4 location the holes for the smaller pattern create an air leak, which should be sealed using a speaker baffle, or something similar.

The factory stereo would view the kicker speakers as a more resistive load and in theory would produce less sound at equivalent volume as your factory speakers. The good news is that you wouldn't overload your factory radio. If you wanted to match the resistance you could run 2 sets in parallel to make the factory radio see a 2 ohm load [ John  Sep 13, 2017 ]

Yes you need an amp because mine distort bad but I use a amp 8 inch sub power combo too under my jeep seat [ Patrick  Jul 11, 2017 ]
They are rated at 100 watts RMS each. Mine are powered by a 4 channel amp at 70 watts RMS and they sound fantastic, but if you don't have an external amp I'd recommend speakers with a lower power requirement. [ Tyler  Jul 11, 2017 ]

Root Mean Square - In audio it is the continuous or music power that the amplifier can deliver. [ Stewart  Jan 06, 2017 ]
Rms is root mean square. So if a subwoofer is rated at 300 watts and a max of a max of 300 rms. It's rated at 300 watts and can peak at usually double of the rated wattage for a peak amount of wattage. So 600 watts peak. [ David  Jan 06, 2017 ]
Kicker's new 43CS line of speakers are nearly identical to the 40CS speakers they replaced in terms of sound quality and audio performance. The one noticeable difference is the new 43CS speakers are slightly lower-profile and don't require as much mounting clearance as the 40CS; so they can fit into a wider variety of vehicle models without sacrificing on performance. I hope that helps! [ Larry  Jan 11, 2017 ]  Staff
