Low profile, big kick

Kicker's 10CVT651 sub combines outstanding power handling with the ability to fit in your vehicle's tight spots. This extra-shallow speaker combines extended cone excursion and a low-profile frame, without sacrificing sound quality or bass impact.

6-3/4" sub, less than 3" deep

This Kicker 6-3/4" sub handles up to a hefty 150 watts RMS, while requiring less than 3 inches of mounting depth. The rigid, injection-molded polypropylene cone provides excellent definition and depth, while the ribbed Santoprene™ rubber surround helps control cone movement for accurate response. Perimeter venting on the stamped-steel basket keeps the sub cool under pressure. And Kicker certifies this tough little sub as suitable for marine use.

Space-saving features

This versatile subwoofer works in a sealed box, so you can build your own custom enclosure. This low-impedance sub also works in free-air applications, so you can install it without an enclosure in motorcycles, ATVs, and other places too tight for normal subs. Kicker built the 10CVT651 to match up with the compact PX200.1 amplifier which is stable down to half an ohm, perfect for a pair of these little subs. Use your imagination — this Kicker CompVT sub lets you put well-rounded bass in almost any vehicle or boat.

Not much of a bass response

Julio from Lynchburg, VA on 9/29/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Here is the thing: Bass performance is directly proportional to size. There's nothing you can do to circumvent that enunciation. And I made a mistake, thinking that I could have the same stock setup with a subwoofer installed besides the rear speakers and have a nice warm bass for my music (R n' Roll, Classical, and some Alternative). This sub performs well untill you want a little bit more. It's not going to give you that.... Let me put it this way: If you are looking to have a sound system that not rivals but emulates some how the way your home theater sounds; you have to buy something else and sacrifice a little bit of space. A 10" sub from JL and a Alpine amp did the trick for me. I'm very happy now with my second choice.

Pros: Small, easy to mount. It is just one more speaker. It is intended for small... very small vehicles.

Cons: Its bass response is not great.

Awesome Sub!

Pros: For the size enclosure required this sub fit under the from seat of my Polaris RZR.

Cons: None

I'm satisfied

Boz from Blue Ridge Summit, PA on 5/20/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used this sub to replace the wonky stock sub in a Jeep Wrangler. It works pretty well with some modification. I used the Kicker PX 200.1 to drive it and it's plenty. It is loud enough to be heard at highway speed with the top off and is low enough for the type of music I listen to. If you listen to rap, etc. you will not be satisfied. My plans are to always maintain as close to a "stock" appearance as possible and these components certainly allowed me to do that. The locations of the woofer and amp will make theft challenging to say the least. The sub appears to be very well made so I expect to get a pretty good life out of it. I dinged it a little on value because it costs just as much as a "full-sized" subwoofer .

Pros: Well made, sounds good, worked for my application.

Cons: Cost, modifications required for use?

Great Speaker

DeadStick from Cloverdale, IN on 4/24/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speaker! Crutchfield was the only place I could find that could come up with a replacement speaker for my vehicle.

Pros: Great value and quality!

Cons: Did not fit exactly into my original vehicles speaker location without drilling 4 new mounting holes, but was easy to adapt.

Kicker CVT651

Ryan P from Houston, TX on 4/23/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product is everything that I was expecting. I installed this along with the PXi50.2 amp with PS5250 speakers and PX200.1 amp with this CVT651 sub on a 2012 Seadoo Wake Pro Watercraft. The sound is amazing and very clear. Very loud also. The amp draw is small enough that I didn't need to add or upgrade a battery.

Pros: Sound quality, size, easy install and hits hard.

Cons: None

Enclosure Compatibility

Spoke Cone: The modified-spoke cone design helps provide maximum excursion from a slender basket. The high performance injection molded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with 360° back bracing.

Santoprene Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Basket and Motor Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting relieves pressure under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.

Tinsel Leads: CVT subwoofers use Spiralead tinsel-lead technology, which allows the ideal amount of flex for better strength and durability. The tinsel lead wires are woven into the spider to relieve mechanical stress.

Spring-Loaded Terminals: The Kicker CVT subwoofer features special spring-loaded binding posts for minimizing depth.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight installations.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Enclosure Compatibility

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's new CVT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit. The solid-pole design allows the woofer to be mounted directly against the rear wall of a sealed enclosure. The spring-loaded binding posts are mounted parallel to the cone surface to minimize depth. Also the steel Clearance Plate enables you to cut out part of the back of the enclosure to create more room for the woofer magnet, subtracting the enclosure wall depth from the equation.

Recommended Enclosure: Kicker recommends a sealed enclosure for the 10CVT651; vented enclosures are not recommended. The enclosure should be filled to 50% with loose poly-fil (polyester fiberfill) stuffing. The recommended sealed enclosure volumes are:

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.2 cu/ft
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3.0 cu/ft

Free-air Compatible: The subwoofer can also be mounted without an enclosure, in a factory speaker location.
